Bizarre unused object found in the data of Super Mario Bros. 3. The graphical tiles that would have been used by it no longer remain in the files, so a representation of the tiles as their addresses is shown.
The object would have stood motionlessly until Mario touches it, whereupon it would "stick" to him, becoming attached to his sprite and following all his movements. Despite this, it would have had no gameplay effect, with the attachment being purely cosmetic.
Finally, it appears to have been some type of enemy as it is coded to be able to be killed with a Koopa shell or a hammer thrown by Hammer Mario, but no other attacks. What the purpose of this mysterious object could have been is unknown.

Fact: Mario is in love with Princess Peach and is always there to help her when she’s in trouble.
Similarly, Princess Peach is smitten with Mario, often inviting him on dates with her. She relies on him when she’s in danger and thinks of him in times of peril.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the first Super Mario Maker on Wii U. Time flies ! I guess it was the occasion for this Mar10 day.
I'm not good at building levels actually, but I did play some nice creations, specially on the 2nd game !
A whole SMB remake, a sort of Mario Mania, the Zelda levels or even some wild stuff, people are doing wonders with this game.
The only thing I do miss of the Wii U version are the mystery costume. I do understand why it's not there anymore, but still, it was such a cool thing.
Anyway, Happy Mar10 day again !
Super Mario (c) Nintendo
Pixel Sprites all originated from the first Super Mario Maker game. With the exception of few edits here and there, I didn't made them.
Artwork made by me.

[C] 'Greg Martin' Style: Super Mario Bros. 3!!! by Mast3r-Rainb0w
A commission made via DeviantArt. Once again, I was tasked to mimic the artstyle of the LATE video game artist Greg Martin (1956-2013), though this time for the legendary classic NES game, Super Mario Bros. 3! I hope I have paid tribute to Mr. Martin’s legacy with this fanart mock-up here! Enjoy!

the way that new mario game seems to be pulling a lot of poses and stylization from old official promo art got me thinking back to these style-imitation pieces i did back in 2020 for a friend's fangame project... old NES/SNES-era promo art is so interesting to study!!

In Super Mario Bros. 3, the levels using a green hills tileset (e.g. World 1-2, seen in the footage) do not assign solid collision to the bottommost dark green layer of the ground.
Using a P-Wing power-up, it is thus possible to fly underneath nearly the entirety of these levels in the manner depicted.

Series name: The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!
Episode Debut Date: N/A (Concept Art) 1989 - 1990
Episode No: N/A
Episode Name: N/A
Notes:
At Some point, There is rumoured to have been pieces of 'Lost' Artwork and Concept Art centering The Animated Super Mario Series from DIC Entertainment. There doesn't seem to be a specific Date, but most likely is from the Early 90s.
Apparently, one of them came in the form of an unreleased, yet fully finished Promotional artwork. Supposedly, the show may have wanted to include a little Valentine's special. Or this concept art had no relation to Valentines Day, and is just a theme centering around Dance.
The Artwork Features the already known group consisting of Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool and Toad. The 'Flower Princess', A Newer addition to the team is also featured.
However, what is quite odd about this Artwork, is that it features what seems to be an entirely new character (Above the Main trio). An Animal Character, resembling a Dog or Puppy. Upon research, this character has actually not appeared in the show at all. Leading us to believe that this was probably a character that was intended to appear in one of the later episodes. Yet, became a scrapped concept altogether.
Further Research, This Animal character actually had many concepts as well. Some drafts noted that this character was either supposed to be a long-gone Genie's Dog. Or, a pet belonging to a few of the existing Ghost-like characters in the show. Some ideas included of the group encountering a Scientist in a Haunted Mansion, who said Scientist had already befriended said Dog during his explorations.
Despite the unclear origins of this character's development, there is one interesting thing that remains unchanged. The fact that this Dog/Puppy character, would eventually take a liking to Luigi and will tag along with the group the rest of the series.
There might have been a thought in reusing this Dog character at some point in the future. But only time would tell.
———————————————————
Okay yep, again. Too much fun with this! Haha.
I know it isn't Valentines Day yet. But many times I've been late to draw Valentines Stuff. So I'm going to treat the entire February Month as an excuse for me to Draw cute romantic stuff whenever I want!
It's been a while since I drew these two, sorry about that! I literally had a mind-block in where I couldn't figure out any new ideas for them. Until now!
Nevertheless, Hope you guys enjoy!

Name: Rocky Wrench
Debut: Super Mario Bros. 3
Get a load of this guy! A recurring enemy, debuting in one of the most beloved games, and major enough to even get a LEGO version... and he's over here as if he's Weird. Well he is! Weird is relative! You might think a goat is a normal animal, but if you do, you have clearly forgotten that they effortlessly climb trees and steep slopes, with hooves. Weird is all around us, and if you find yourself growing jaded to it, remember a Fun Fact to mentally slap some sense back into yourself.
Rocky Wrench is not rocky, and he is not a wrench, either! He is manholey and throws wrenches. On first glance, he looks like a turtley mole, but we are commonly assured that he is ACTUALLY a moley turtle. Strange! This is not a mere mole with a shell, this is a turtle with a cartilaginous nose and teeth and presumably fur. Even if he is truly a turtle, the design is pleasantly mole-like, with the claws, snout, and teeth! This is a guy who would love to bite an earthworm, and who would be very good at it. He would NOT eat a vegetable.
Tumblr media
Huhwhuh! What's going on! They turned Rocky Wrench into a guy who would eat a vegetable, and relish every nibble! One of the most egregious parts of New Super Mario Bros. Wii's new standardized art direction is that Rocky Wrench's original design was just entirely lost. This is, obviously, just Monty Mole wearing goggles! And I like Monty Mole, but when I am in the mood for Monty Mole, I can look at Monty Mole. This is not even a turtle by ANY measure now. It's almost a cruel joke now, having a rodent enemy with "mole" in its name, and redesigning the actually mole-looking enemy to be an identical rodent. Gophers and moles can coexist! We all dig for our own reasons. Isn't that something to celebrate? We would, at least, get a true talpid later in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.
Tumblr media
But some never gave up hope. Remember this? Have you seen this? It's good. It's Super Mario Odyssey concept art for the Broodals, if they were to use existing enemy species for the characters! Even in the middle of the Rocky Rodent Era, there were people at Nintendo who thought, "let's use the old Rocky Wrench design again". Here, Rango would have been a tall Rench (Rocky + Wrench. I know it doesn't really work. Sorry) wearing a spiky squash for a hat! Not very fashionable, but bold. And certainly easier to wear than a whole manhole cover! Rocky Wrench would continue to be portrayed as a rodent for years, including in Mario Kart Tour, where he even got a Mii costume! Was this all a ploy to become marketable?
But then, something happened.
Last year, we received the trailer for the final wave of the The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Game For Nintendo Switch Systems' Booster Course Pass DLC Content. And we all noticed something strange. Something different.
Tumblr media
Holy moley! The guy in that hole looks moley! Suddenly, to the surprise of everyone, Rocky Wrench was re-redesigned, now resembling the one that I assume people in 1988 fell in love with. I don't know. I wasn't there. But wow! We don't know why they decided to do this, but we're all happy they did! More visual variety in enemies is always better than less! It's especially weird considering the very same track in Tour had the Monty-like design, but I'm not complaining, I'm celebrating!
Looking at Super Mario Party Jamboree, it's clear that, at least for now, Mole-Like Rocky Wrench is here to stay. And hooray for that. Cheers, even. He completely changed his presentation for mass appeal, and now he's going back to being himself, unashamed! Be like Rocky Wrench! Express yourself while simultaneously hiding in a hole.
