EDIT TO ADDRESS CONCERNS & CONFUSION 10/31/2024

Due to our concern regarding the rampant insurgence of minors attempting to sneak into our community and spaces, we reached out to Patreon for guidance. In our direct correspondence with Patreon support staff, we were explicitly informed that as creators of 18+/NSFW content, all posts—regardless of whether they contain SFW content—had to be and should have always been behind a paywall. We were previously unaware of this requirement, as it is not clearly stated in their policies and guidelines on their website. In response, we placed all Patreon posts behind at least the $1 USD A Nibble tier. Regarding the comparison of our situation to other NSFW/18+ content creators, it brings to mind the age-old question: "If your friends jump off a cliff, are you going to jump off a cliff too?" What other content creators are willing to do or the risks they take with the possibility of having their pages removed is their concern. Our primary concern is ensuring that we properly adhere to Patreon guidelines and protect the adults within our community and provide a space free from as many minors as possible, a paywall is one of the few barriers we have to bar entry, until Patreon incorporates more robust features to verify the ages of its members.

As for the lack of communication, the studio head had been ill with the flu for a few weeks leading up to this day, and the IP creator was also grappling with their own mental health struggles, compounded by their computers and drives crashing, which did not help their mental health in the slightest. Very few people have access to or the authority to speak in their stead, so it was decided that it was best to allow both of them to recover enough to ensure a proper announcement could be made.

The primary understanding we wanted to get across to everyone is that we are changing how we operate from now on so that we can be able to better pace and accommodate ourselves and as a result communicate with you all more transparently and frequently.

Jack in my Pouring Rain AU vs Jack in my Sunnyverse AU

Gonna ramble a bit here about the two portrayals, there’s a lot more typing space here so I will also be using my posts as a bit of infodump sometimes! ↓

For starters, I really adore Jack as a design and character, there’s not much I wanted to alter about him in the design department, so all changes are subtle!

✦ Starting with Pouring Rain!Jack!

This guy’s probably the closest to how he’s presented in game honestly— still manipulative, still colorful, probably a bit more deranged because his sunshine keeps forgetting shit.

Art wise, I wanted to really keep the colors on him vibrant, but also give him sort of a dim vibe as well. His hair is a bit more reflective of turquoise highlights with a gradient of a muted darker blue at the tips.

I like to imagine Jack uses colorful knives (if he most certainly has to use one). I have colorful knives in my house, it just seemed right as I was doing the dishes one day. He also changed his paints ever so slightly, because stars are very important to him.

He’s also rather glitchy when upset, but not that of a computer glitch when it happens.. more of like… something that’s being rewinded and re-written over numerous times, no?

Or, maybe I have no idea what I’m talking about!

And finally, the colorful paint on him!

Rain!Jack’s original sunshine way back nowhere was actually a graffiti artist, so does Jack know how to paint? It’s not like he would say, but it is a bit easier to play off a mysterious red stain if you’re covered in all the other colors.

✦ Ending with Sunnyverse!Jack!

Sunnyverse, is quite frankly a bit of a community like idea. The premise being quite similar to the same notion of Spiderverse, where multiple of the characters can exist and vibe but may look different, while still following a canon of sorts. It’s basically like showing off your characters and AUs in your style!

(Honestly, with a name like that, maybe I should draw Spider-Jack… *Sunrise Spider?*)

This Jack is a divergent of the idea where the fictional world of CloudyTown is real. ← This information also is a slight spin-off of an unofficial AU called “Sunny Time Town” by artist Sauce! I will also be using “Sunnyverse” for the official name of my AU that includes my ocs that switch up the story in a non-yandere manner!

SV!Jack here rocks a bowtie and suspenders with the design paying a full tribute to a sketch I did in March! I’ve seen a few comments relating it to his teaching profession… and now I can’t I see it, haha!

To contrast Rain!Jack, SV!Jack’s hair is a nice pure blue gradient that dips into indigo/purple at the tips!

I added his belt as a tie in both of them (don’t ask why the belt is doing a :3), but now I hear the belt is sentient… that’s a cool idea I seen around, I gotta learn about that!

i hate the culture of "kinning" and the lack of media literacy in fandom because you cannot express that you relate to morally grey/complicated/evil characters in any way because people will either assume you're admitting you're some cartoonishly evil psychopath or that you're one of those insufferable joker incel type dudes

like for example, i personally relate to a lot of iasip dennis' internal struggles and some of his shitty behavior (+ as someone who struggles with moral ocd and who also acknowledges their behavior can be shitty and awful, seeing that behavior in a character is a big eye opener and has been a really valuable tool for me in both realizing that "oh fuck, that's shitty, i do that" or "hey, my ocd is saying i behave like this but i genuinely don't, maybe i'm not evil") but some people will just hear "i relate to dennis" and immediately think that im some homicidal sexual predator??

which like, first of all, is a complete mischaracterization of dennis and oversimplifies his character in an awful way that, in my opinion, disrespects the whole writing team and the show in general (there are plenty of really good character analyses of him on this website that articulate it better but im assuming you understand what i mean) but also, when did i say i relate to everything he does? when did i say i believe everything he believes? why cant you just casually relate to characters instead of Kinning them with your entire soul and claiming you're an exact living copy of said character???

Hello Everyone! It’s been a while, and we’re so sorry about the silence on our blog! But we have some big, important updates to share with you all. The entire team has been extremely busy with both personal, real-life responsibilities and with game production! On top of this, we have also had a big change in management and production, so we’ve been getting a handle on that at the same time.

I’ll start this by stating that I’m Tobias (he/him), the new social media and community manager, and I’ll be bringing this update to you all! And, all Patreon links provided (minus the ones near the end) are public posts, so you don’t need to be subscribed to a tier to view them, but you still need to be 18+! Now, this goes a bit back, so get a warm drink and get comfy to read this big post because if you haven’t been on the Twitter or Patreon, you’ve missed quite a lot (which is on us entirely! We’re sorry again!) In September 2023, we released a few screenshots on our Patreon showing off some script revisions for the demo of “Something’s Wrong with Sunny Day Jack.” (read them + the update more in detail here!: https://www.patreon.com/posts/sunny-day-jack-90099502) As stated in that post, “A lot of grammatical errors, run-on sentences, etc.. are also being combed out in favor of: - Content that foreshadows future events in the game - Content that is easier to read - And content that more clearly portrays the rules, lore, and restrictions of the supernatural/horror elements in this world

Additionally, more content in general, will be added. Not a substantial amount, but enough to flesh out scenes and make things make more sense now that the world/game has been almost completely outlined.” This post was met with a lot of confusion, as SDJ fans mentioned that they feared the game was being toned down from its original concept. And while our re-writes do actively remove dialogue that unintentionally may be perceived as dubious consent or pressuring the player into sexual/romantic choices, there are no intentions to remove yandere/horror content! We cleared this all up in another Patreon post; a small QnA (here’s that one, again, more in detail!: https://www.patreon.com/posts/q-yandere-is-to-91034309). 

You may be saying “But Tobias! On the Kickstarter, it said there was soft, dubious consent!” And yes, that is true. However, as stated in the 2nd link provided, Our publisher at the time, Project Enso, originally put that warning up. Sauce (they/them) was not happy with that, but PE properly explained that people who were uncomfortable with the infamous "No Route" hadn't had that warning, and thus felt surprised.

But the main points of these two posts above are, 

Sauce will no longer be taking a management role at SnaccPop anymore. Instead, they will take a much necessary backstep to focus solely on creating art and supporting the studio through their continuous work.

The studio has Biscuit as its front-facing figure, but she will be helped out by Perrie (she/her, our current Voice Acting director), Nana (she/her, our current Art director), and other individuals who are key to keeping the content going smoothly at a decent pace. 

SWWSDJ is no longer being released as a full game in November 2024, and is now having Episodic Releases! (Acts 1, 2, 3, and 4)

The Patreon rewards will remain entirely the same. Sauce, as it has been said before, will keep working with us all the way!
