mousekin tips!

my theriotype is house mice so these tips are primarily focused towards them. i tried to make these less general and more specific towards mice because it personally annoys me when every species tip list has "make/buy gear" on it, lol

— look up tutorials on how to squeak similarly to mice

— stay up/be active at night at your own discretion (a lot of mice are nocturnal)

— sew! this might just be a me thing, but the idea/action of sewing makes me feel like a mouse :P

— adding onto the above, DIY/customize your clothes! mice are scavengers, so getting that feel of scraps stitched together for clothes might bring euphoria.

— make nests with lots of blankets. mice shred up things to build their nests, so the feel of a ton of blankets might remind you of a mouse's nest.

— if you're an outdoor mouse, you could make a burrow on the ground or under a bed. alternatively if you're an indoor mouse, you could adapt a closet into a makeshift mousehole.

— find stim toys to chew on !

food tips !

— a lot of little kid's books have mouse protagonists, so maybe looking at a few of them might be comforting.

— i spy books ! they also give me mouse vibes.

— if you don't like anything on this list, basically anything crunchy and aromatic would work.

— chocolate (especially milk chocolate)

— sunflower seeds, cereal, and crackers

— crunchy bread

— freeze dried fruits (apples, bananas, and strawberries are my favorite)

— pretzels (snack pretzels or baked, either works!)

— eggs (i've found scrambled to be the most euphoric for me, but i encourage experimentation)

— small mammal meats

— corn

— fake edible insects

— berries, mushrooms, and edible flowers

— i've gathered that trail mix is the most efficient way to buy wild mouse‐like food and can even be reminiscent of pellet food if you're domesticated and not wild.

Watching Hamtaro for the first time since I was a kid livestream of thoughts:

I know the whole point is the hamsters getting out but Laura is lucky her hamster is sentient because he'd be dead from chewing on electrical cables with as irresponsible she is! (Knowing her hamster knows how to and repeatedly gets out of his cage and but doing nothing to secure the cage door???)

Oxnard is an anxious baby OMG, as a kid I thought he was overreacting but he's just me 😭

I actually find Boss a lot more relatable/like him a lot more as an adult XD (RIP his crush on Bijou, I feel your pain of a lifetime of crushes on people who do NOT reciprocate)

There is a surprisingly large number of people in this town with hamsters. Not complaining, but wild, I've never known that many people with hamsters at one time XD

This show is still adorable and I'm glad to be getting back into it! Just interesting to be watching it from an adult perspective!

I think mulder is very bad at small talk/social contracts, he often annoys/angers people, doesn't really follow social norms. Scully is a lot better with small talk but I think she has more trouble making immediate connections, while mulder tends to immediately empathize with people. Sort of, mulder is worse at masking with high empathy, while scully is better at masking with lower emotional reciprocity. For mulder he is incredibly obsessed with the paranormal, often starts infodumping. Scully makes a comment about it in Alpha when he starts listing cryptids. He also has an extensive knowledge of sports statistics and a lot of pop culture knowledge, especially science fiction. In Hollywood AD we see him watching a movie and knowing it line for line, and he says he's seen it 42 times. Mulder often forgets to eat, in Chinga we see he only has expired orange juice in his fridge. In the same ep we also see him sorting pencils and throwing them into the ceiling. He often sits with all the lights off to think. I also think him eating the sunflower seeds is an oral stim. Anyway uhhhhhh. It's really funny listening to Fox Mulder Is A Maniac (podcast) because they'll always go "hes so crazy and insane for this" and its always just an autism symptom. Usually they'll talk a lot about how he's bad at social relationships. Anyways Fox Mulder autism real.

also the inflection in their voices, both tend to have difficulty (I've noticed) in giving their voices more distinct tone and emotion. they speak more monotone, and even with people they know!!

mulder has intense interests and hyperfixations and in the earlier episodes misses different cues/jokes

i tried telling my dad and my sibling but both say no and that there's no way either of them could be autistic and I'm just like... what world do you live in (both my dad and sibling are autistic but they're both amab and have similar views in autism being linear in how they experience it, mostly my dad)

Ham Ham Heartbreak is such a huge stim game, fight me.

-Beautiful cute and colorful pixel art -So many characters doing different things that you can interact with -Word collection that is used for solving puzzles/problems and you had to figure out the right word to use to solve the situation. -Sooooouuuundssss -Rock collecting and minigame where you polish those rocks for gems and such -I think there was even a dress up minigame?? You had to trade in I think either sunflower seeds or acorns to buy clothes? -Oh yeah, you collected sunflower seeds and acorns. -AMUSEMENT PARK WHERE YOU RODE THE RIDES!!! -Just so much hhhhhnnnggg cute love the game so relaxing yes. Need more games like it.

OUGH. That's hard because actually I don't have that many characters that originated as tabletop characters! I think it'll be Racquel and Charlie for this set!

19. sleeping position?

Racquel - full starfish, absolutely just spread out across whatever surface zir sleeping on. a real nightmare to share a bed with to be honest, cuz what inevitably happens is zir just fulling laying on top of the other person. Charlie - instinctively curls up because he is always cold, and also runs into that issue of "blanket/bed is too fuckin short for him long legs" and he needs to be completely covered from the neck down in order to sleep 21. obsession from childhood? Racquel - this might feel a bit sad but like, having a family? not like, having kids (thought ze does end up with at least one pseudo adopted child) but just having those kind of connections? growing up not really knowing your parents at all will kinda mess your shit up so ze has spent on a long time trying to find people to care about and for those people to care about zem in turn.

on a less serious note: archery

Charlie - he has always been really into sunflowers??? hey idk where this came from, this just popped into my head unbidden. but he loves the way they follow the sunshine, and he loves how tall they get, how sturdy they are, how BIG, and he loves sunflower seeds (he hates eating them around people though because having to spit out the shells is so embarrassing)

22. role model?

Racquel - ze was raised by an elf named Silas, who took Racquel in and taught zem pretty much...everything? closest thing to a father figure ze had and he kind of maintained a sort of distance between them for reasons Racquel never really understood, but it didn't stop Racquel from being in awe of his skills. he was a powerful cleric but his experience in adventuring and travel meant that he was able to teach them survival skills, which lead to zem becoming more of a ranger. cool guy, shame he got murdered.

Charlie - probably his older sister Aine (awn-yah)! he's the second oldest of his four siblings, and Aine and him are just under two years apart, so they're pretty close. she was the one who helped him channel his magic into his natural stimming and came up with the idea of adding the rings to then help focus that magic a bit more. things still go haywire a bit, but Aine's patience helped him have confidence in himself so he messes up a lot less than he used to and he's very grateful to her for that.

23. strange habits?

Racquel - man, the only things I can think of right now are zir tendency to steal baked goods (happened frequently when zir party was posted up in a literal palace) and zir habit of basically only wearing half zir shirt, but that's because one side of zir torso being covered in scar tissue gives zem a lot of sensory issues so ze hates having anything touching it too much.

Charlie - well, other than various stimmy things I think Charlie is just a nervous babbler. he can say so many words without actually saying anything at all because he is so nervous all the time!

28. five songs to describe them

God we were cruising right along until I got to this one. i sUCK at picking songs for my OCs, so I will try and come back to this one later I think general vibes for Racquel is Arctic Monkeys meets indie queer artists talking about gender in increasingly esoteric ways. For Charlie, take like, indie girl with an acoustic guitar and then sprinkle in a dash or two of like Irish folk music. ...Yeah.
