Hi honey, hope things are going ok out there! Dragons was a fun choice and after a little thought I came up with this bit of fluff. The things I can get a dragon involved in.. you know I’m kinda impressed myself! 😂😂

Eddie watches Buck watch Maddie take a slow turn around the room, her eyes absorbing everything. It’s obvious from the way his husband is restlessly shifting from foot to foot that he’s nervous, he wants his sister to like the choices they’ve made. Eddie’s not nervous, the room is perfect, how could it not be when Buck puts so much of his heart and soul into it.

Maddie stops by the crib and her eyes fall upon Eddie's favourite part of the decor. It’s his favourite because it’s beautiful and because Buck loves it so much.

Eddie watches Buck watch Maddie reach out with a finger and gently push the mobile, so it starts spinning, there’s a smile on her face.

“This is beautiful, an unusual choice,” she looks up at her brother with a grin, “but very beautiful.

Eddie knows what’s coming next, he’s heard the rationale before but he’s happy to listen to it as many times as Buck wants to explain.

“Babies like bright colours and it was just too cool not to buy, right?” Buck joins Maddie by the empty crib and she wraps her arm around his waist, leaning into him.

“So cool.” All her love for her brother is in those two words. Eddie understands exactly how she feels. “I think she’s going to love looking at it.”

“Yeah, and she can keep it forever, might even be a family heirloom one day, cos who doesn’t like dragons Maddie.”

“No one with any sense I’m sure.”

Eddie chuckles quietly as Buck hugs his sister even tighter and kisses the top of her head. Buck’s so excited it’s adorable but then to be fair they both are, it’s been a long wait.

From his spot by the door Eddie listens fondly as Buck chatters away about baby development, dragon mythology, colour theory and the various options he considered before making his final design choices. Maddie listens with the same soft smile Eddie knows is on his own face. From within the circle of Buck’s arm, Maddie’s eyes move around the room again taking it all in until they settle on Eddie. Maddie’s eyes aren’t like Buck’s at all, they’re brown like his and that’s not all they have in common, the love they share for the man she calls brother and he calls ‘his’ always shines brightly for anyone who cares to look.

There’s more to show her but eventually the tour of the nursery ends and Buck is steering his beloved sister through the door and back towards the couch where the others are all waiting. He pauses on his way past, the heat from his hand soaking into Eddie’s skin as blue meets brown and the tenderness he always finds there is a constant wonder to him.

“Eds? You coming?

“Yeah, In a sec.” The soft assurance ends with a kiss to the corner of his mouth that leaves Buck smiling as he follows his sister.

Alone, Eddie wanders over to the crib the Buckley siblings had been admiring, he runs his fingers along the edge of the white wood, then across the pale yellow sheet and finally he touches the dragon mobile that Buck fell in love with the second he saw and bought, barely three minutes later. The dragons dance in the sky from his gentle touch, it really is very beautiful; five dragons hang above the tiny mattress; gold, bronze, brown, blue, and green. All different sizes, made from a shimmering fabric that catches the light with tiny wings spread wide that show even more fine detail and a translucent quality Eddie’s amazed by. He knows it cost Buck a lot, so much he refuses to tell him the actual amount but whatever it cost it was worth it. It’s the loveliest thing in the room and it will be until their daughter arrives to join the family. Penelope Diaz is due any day now and soon she’ll be in their arms and sleep here in the bed they choose for her and be loved by them completely and forever,

Eddie touches the golden dragon one more time and as she sways forward, taking her own family with her he smiles and turns to go and find his.

Well if that wasn’t soft enough for you I don’t know what is😂

you're not wrong about Sai. I lurk in a lot of SU servers and I've watched for a long time how if you're not kissing her ass you're not worth the ground she walks on. She says Rebecca Sugar is against lesbianism because shows used to have lesbians end up with men, and Rebecca just doesn't see how damaging that is, because she may have made a character based on herself be bisexual like she is instead of lesbian. She's super biphobic about it and extremely hypocritical. She'll say making a character bi is lesbian erasure, ignoring that she's trying to do bi erasure. If she starts trouble and mods step in she'll say they only do it because they hate her, or that they're homophobic or ableist because being an old autistic lesbian is her whole personality. And she gets away with it because she draws the silly pink clown really well, so people treat her like a damn angel.

I debated for some time if I would reply to this or not. I have already said what I needed to about Sai, so I have nothing else to say on that front.

When it comes to Rebecca Sugar: I doubt she has any desire to cause erasure of any kind. They created a show filled to the brim with queer representation and storytelling, after all. My general impression, (based off of what bits and pieces I've seen of behind-the-scenes content), was that the characters in Steven Universe were designed to be flexible to the viewer's interpretation rather than set in stone. (Pun not intended.) It seems that Rebecca is hesitant to firmly assign any label to any character.
