Love your Natalie 'Sugar' posts! Please can you write more, maybe some SFW and NSFW dating headcanons?
Hope you've had a good day!
uh yeah i sure can! i hope your day is good đ«¶đŒ
sfw:
- natalie who all but promised herself that sheâd keep business and personal life separate (which was already impossible considering her brother(s) created this restaurant) but when she said âpersonalâ she really meant âromanticâ
- all that went out the window the day she came to the restaurant with the intent to head straight to carmyâs office but ended up lingering by your station
- if you asked her these days, sheâd say it was because you were cooking an interesting dish (you were chopping potatoes) but if you had your say, it was because your sleeves were rolled to your elbows and youâd just lugged a heavy stockpot
- you made the first move, natalie had been the first to start flirting but you were the one to actually do something about it and not just stare at her starry eyed any longer
- itâd happened when you found her in the office, flustered and pissed off about the finances and youâd been the first person to ask how you could help and actually want an answer (as it turned out you werenât the best at balancing books but you did tuck natalieâs hair behind her ear and ask how she made it look so easy)
- everyone else noticed the change when you were the only person to call her natalie when everyone calls her sugar and when richie asked why youâd simply responded ânatalieâs a nice name, why change it?â
- anyways! dating! that woman doesnât lift a fkn finger long as you have breath in your lungs- youâd get up and cross the living room to pass her the remote.
- in return, she is the sweetest love you have ever known. doesnât matter who you are, what youâve done, what you havenât done- natalie loves you more than life itself.
- if she comes to the restaurant during down time, she can usually be found sat in your lap with a plate of whatever youâve whipped up for her (all she has to do is ask and youâd hand spin her gold)
- you call her âthe wifeâ even if youâre not married, you just love reminding people you have someone at home
- her lockscreen is a sweet picture of the two of you on a walk, your lockscreen is her on the toilet flipping you off
- you, richie and carmy refer to yourself as natalieâs âloser-husbandâ (regardless of gender) and natalie always tells you off for it (you keep doing it cause you like it when she uses that tone with you)
- you do most of the cooking at home but sometimes sheâll surprise you with baking and itâs always fucking delicious
- whenever the two of you are out, youâre usually stood just behind her with a hand on her lower back- you really like to be touching any part of her at all times
- when youâre in bed together at the end of a long day, she rubs your hands and knuckles when theyâre tired from all that cooking (you repay with foot rubs on the couch)
- natalie really likes trashy reality tv and you watch it without complaint because of the light in her eyes when she bitches to you about one of the couples or whatever
- you and natalie are really good communicators, believe in discussing any issues with each other rather than airing them out to others
- it wasnât always that way, natalie had to overcome a lot of family background to do it, but the result was worth it
- because of that family background, youâre unbelievably patient with her because you think sheâs worth it
- if any of your colleagues or friends try to get into the whole âgod my wife is so annoyingâ type of thing youâre just not there because you canât relate
nsfw:
- okay i know i said you donât call her sugar but that was only a half truth, you call her sugar when youâre fucking her
- when sheâs underneath you and sheâs on her back and her hairs splayed out like a golden halo and she looks sweet as sugar
- thatâs when you cannot stop your mouth from running and youâre telling her âyouâre so fucking perfect, sugarâ
- but nobody else will ever know that
- however, it does mean she knows when youâre in the mood because youâll just call her sugar and then itâs all on
- ngl, i reckon youâd have to be top in this relationship because i honestly think nat borders on pillow princess (but in the right mood, sheâll switch for you)
- she loves sitting in your lap at the restaurant but she adores sitting on your lap at home, whether youâre on the couch or in bed sheâs perched up with her tits in your mouth
- you regularly ask her to ride you so you can get her tits in your mouth
- she loves being woken up with head, weekends when you donât have to be anywhere in a rush youâll spend hours under the sheets with her thighs around your head
- even though i think she likes being pillow princess, she absolutely loves going to town on you- likes it when her âbig strong chefâ comes undone for her
- sheâll also get into a bit of mommy stuff if youâve had a rough day and need to be taken care of
- one of your favourites is having her sit between your legs in front of the mirror, making her show you how she touches herself when youâre working long nights at the restaurant
- she often walks around the house naked and sometimes you can be serious about it and other times youâre bending her over the kitchen bench
- sydney walked in on the two of you in a heavy make out session in carmyâs office and you all agreed to never talk about it again but sydney thinks about it often
- natalie loves when you talk dirty, loves getting you to the point where youâre straight babbling about how good she feels
- she loves tiktok and frequently does those trends like flashing your partner when they pull up the driveway or sending a nude when theyâre in a group setting (you never complain and always fall for it)
- in fact, you love when natalie flashes you because you just fucking love boobs so sometimes if youâre doing something around the house sheâll just say âhey babeâ and next thing sheâs lifting her shirt for you
- whatever youâre doing then gets forgotten cause youâre asking her to put them in your mouth
- honestly, youâll give her a go wherever and whenever you can so itâs not uncommon for her to be brushing her teeth with you crouched behind her and a cheek in each hand
- about the reality tv, sheâll be sat back watching while youâre kneeling with your tongue buried in her (sometimes you have to pause cause you get too invested in the show)
- she loves buying lingerie for you to slip to the side when sheâs face down ass up in your bed
- one last one, she has called you daddy in bed before and you came in record time (once again, regardless of gender)

nothing in the world belongs to me |carmen berzatto x reader|
prompt: still new in your relationship, you show up to the bear for dinner unexpectedly, surprising carmen and the others.
based off this prompt from the other day :)
contains: fluff lol. really, it's just fluff. established-ish relationship (the others don't know). carmen being a little nervous and possessive but mainly cute <3 language.
âAlright, listen up,â Richie stood next to Sydney, flicking through the piles of tickets that were ringing through by the second. It was normal now, an expected task in their routine. âWe need to walk the focaccia to table seven, please.âÂ
âYes, Chef!â A chorus of nearly robotic voices rose from the sizzling hiss of the lamb searing in Carmenâs pan, lifting the spatula to tip the meat over, before giving it back to the chef on the line.Â
âAnd for table nine, weâve got a shellfish allergy, alright? So letâs triple check the cross contamination on that. T, can you handle that one?â Richie moved from his leather bound book of notes back to the ticket.Â
âYes, Chef!â Tina chimed, pulling a freshly washed pan, filling it with the veal stock.Â
âTable nine, is that- thatâs the senator?â Carmen turned to Richie, tasting the roux bubbling on Victoriaâs station, giving her a curt nod of approval.Â
âNo, thatâs table eleven.â Richie hummed, looking back at his notebook. âNine, is⊠a birthday. Booked online.â Carmen had already begun to drone him out, mind racing with a million other things as Richie listed the guests name. Until he got to one.Â
The name Carmen was sure he was hallucinating. The name no one knew- How would they know? How could they possibly know your name?Â
You and Carmen had been seeing each other for a little while. A few weeks that were slowly turning into months. A casual thing that was slowly turning more serious. Dates and meetups are becoming more frequent. Youâd even invited him over to your place a few times, heâd spent the night last week.Â
Still, Carmen hadnât managed to tell anyone. Selfishly, he liked that you were all his for now. Privacy was not guaranteed in the Berzatto house, in Carmenâs life still. He knew they meant well, they always did- he knew it wasnât purposeful, the intrusion that almost always led to a demise. Carmen wasnât ready for it, not yet, he still wanted you all to himself.Â
âCarmen?â Sydneyâs voice pulled him out of his panicked trance. âChef, are you- are you good?â Her voice lilted with that familiar suspicious quip, the one always accompanied with her lifted brows.Â
âWhat?â Carmen blinked, hands buzzing, heart thumping. He could see the window, Richieâs frame blocking most of it. âSorry, yeah- yeah, Iâm good, Chef.âÂ
Sydney watched him carefully, a slow nod before she continued calling out orders. Carmen could feel Richieâs eyes on him, narrowed with curiosity. Carmen tried to be nonchalant, crossing the kitchen back towards Tina, his eyes cutting carefully, looking out the window.Â
There you were.Â
Sitting pretty at the middle table, surrounded by friends, some Carmen recognized from your Instagram. Heâd actually logged in to the app, looked you up after the first date, consumed every photo of yours in the dark of his room. Cheeks burning with excited heat, stomach fluttering in a way he hadnât felt since junior high.Â
âAlright, walk five salads to nine.â Sydney called out. âWhereâs our runners? God, Richie, can you run-âÂ
â-I got it.â Carmen called, the urgency in his tone making Tina jump behind him. Carmen took the tray before Gary could, his hands shaking as he lifted it.Â
âCousin, I can get it.â Richie frowned.Â
âNo, I-I got it.â Carmen nodded, swallowing down his fluttering nerves. His eyes cut to your table through the window, heart skipping when he saw you. âI got it. Iâll be- Iâll just be a second.âÂ
âI donât- I canât even handle that one right now.â Sydney sighed in exasperation. âAlright, Chefs. Letâs get back on track.â She announced, shaking her head. Richie frowned, pulling out his phone.Â
Sugarâs cell buzzed against the hostess stand, excusing herself to check it.Â
From: RichieÂ
âLook at table nine.âÂ
Sugar huffed.Â
To: RichieÂ
âWhy? Is there something wrong?âÂ
She stepped back, casually turning to scan the room, eyes landing on the table. A small group of girls, younger, and amongst them- Carmen?Â
To: RichieÂ
âIs something wrong with the food? Do I need to comp it?âÂ
From: RichieÂ
âNo. Cousin wanted to go out there.âÂ
Sugar frowned, angling her body behind the large plant near the front as casually as she could. She watched through the leaves as Carmen passed out the salads, each girl grinning widely, but their eyes always cut to one on the end.Â
Carmen saved your salad for last, hoping the lowlights of the restaurant would hide his boyish blush, setting the bowl in front of you carefully. âHey,âÂ
âHi,â You smiled sheepishly, looking to meet his gaze. âEverything looks so good.âÂ
âYeah? Thanks.â Carmen nodded. âI-I didnât know you were cominâ tonight.âÂ
âIâm sorry.â You cringed softly, embarrassed heat flooding through your veins. You knew better, knew you shouldnât have done this- showed up at his restaurant unannounced.Â
âI, uh, itâs my friendâs birthday.â You nodded towards Alicia at the end of the table. âAnd I was telling them about that pasta you made me, and they really wanted to come try it.â Your nerves bubbled, rambling in nervous peals that seemed to pour out before you could stop them. Â
âYeah, no, thatâs really nice. Thank you.â Carmen nodded, giving a half smile to your friends, hoping they didnât see the way he wiped his clammy hands on his apron. âWhy didnât- Why didnât you just call me? Tell me you were cominâ in.âÂ
âI didnât want to bother you.â You muttered softly. âI honestly didnât think youâd even see us here, I swear. I didnât mean to bother you or anything-âÂ
â-Youâre not bothering me.â Carmenâs voice dropped to a coo, accompanied with a soft smile that had your head spinning. âNever a bother, but, uh, next time? Bother me, ok? Wanna make sure you get the best seat in the house.âÂ
Your cheeks flushed with heat, your friends excited giggles only intensifying the rushing heat blanketing over your body. Carmenâs own cheeks heated, tongue rolling on the inside of his cheek to hide his grin.Â
âAlright?â Carmen added, and in a complete act of shocking boldness, his hand squeezed your shoulder affectionately. A small gesture on the outside, but for Carmen, it was huge.Â
âAlright.â You grinned, leaning into his touch, your hands sliding over his.Â
âHowâs everything so far?â Carmen turned to the table, nodding at the excited gushes of compliments, not missing the way your friends cut their eyes to you with animated glee.Â
âJust let me know if you need anything, ok?â Carmen turned to you.
âI will.â You nodded, starry eyed with love sick affection.Â
âGood. Iâll see you before you leave, alright?â Carmen muttered, ducking down towards you. His lips brushed over your cheek, your perfume clouding his senses. âYouâre not botherinâ me. âM glad youâre here.âÂ
Your cheek pressed to his, a gentle, affectionate rub before Carmen parted. Both of your features painted with shy delight.Â
Carmen could feel everyoneâs eyes, through flickering gazes and lifted brows. Sydneyâs gaze lingering over him skeptically, still counting tickets. Fakâs wide grin from the corner, loading trays to take out.Â
âHey, uh, Marcus.â Carmen ignored Richieâs raised brows, a teasing, questioning remark on the tip of his tongue.Â
âYes, Chef?â Marcus muttered, looking up from the cannolis he was garnishing.Â
âTable nine has a birthday. I was thinkinâ maybe the chocolate ganache, punch it with the little circle to make it look like a cake. Add a candle?â Carmen muttered, hand rubbing across his face.Â
âYeah, Chef, I can do that.â Marcus nodded.Â
âThank you.â Carmen nodded. âAnd Chef? Let me know when itâs ready before you walk it.âÂ
Marcus frowned. âNo, itâs not- I just wanna walk it, ok?â Carmen shook his head.Â
âAlright.â Marcus nodded slowly. âHeard, Chef.âÂ
Richie smirked, leaning against the stainless steel table. âSo,â Richie hummed. âThere a complaint or somethinâ? Need me to go talk to âem-âÂ
â-No,â Carmen snapped, the possessiveness in his tone startling the both of them. âSorry, itâs- No, I-I donât need you to do that, Chef. Everythingâs good.âÂ
Richie nodded slowly, passing the dishes to Gary with a nod. âYou gonna tell me what that was about?âÂ
âNo, Chef.â Carmen clipped, an edge to his tone that was teetering on annoyed. âBut, uh, thereâs not gonna be a check on table nine.âÂ
âWhat?â Richie frowned. âDid you mess somethinâ up? Seriously, Cousin, if something's wrong itâs my job to know-âÂ
â-No, itâs not-.â Carmen huffed, eyes pinching closed, running a hand over his face in frustration. âLook, thatâs⊠The girl on the end? I-Iâve been kinda seeinâ her, ya know?â He muttered.Â
Richie gawked, blinking in disbelief. âNo shit.â He grinned. âNo shit? You-Youâre serious?â He turned to look out the window.Â
âDonât fuckinâ look.â Carmen hissed. âLook, it-itâs not a big deal, alright? Just donât-donât say anything o-or do anything.âÂ
Richie swallowed back a teasing remark, a reactive reaction from years of being with Mikey. How the two of them used to tease Carmen endlessly, until they were fighting on the front lawn, Mikey howling with laughter while Carmen was red faced with mortified anger.Â
This time, Richie held back. He wasnât sure why, call it divine intervention, a gut feeling maybe, but it felt different this time.Â
âAlright.â Richie nodded slowly. âNo ticket for nine. Heard.âÂ
Carmenâs foot tapped anxiously. âI mean, right? Th-Thatâs what I should do right?â Carmen looked over his shoulder out the window. âThat would be shitty to give her a check? Be a complete jagoff move to charge her?âÂ
âYeah,â Richie scoffed lightly. âJagoff of the fuckinâ year. Makinâ your girl pay to come to your place.âÂ
Carmenâs heart swelled at the term- your girl. His girl. You were his girl.Â
âWalk four Pappardelle to nine. Walk one Pappardelle vegetarian style to nine.â Sydney called.Â
Carmen dipped the spoon in the glaze, garnishing the plate before sliding it towards Sydney. âSo, you gonna take these out?â He muttered.Â
âNo,â Carmen huffed. âGonna wait until the cake.âÂ
âYeah, good idea, Cousin.â Richie nodded with a proud smile. âThat when youâre gonna tell them no check tonight?âÂ
âNo,â Carmen shook his head. âI donât- It would feel weird cominâ from me.â He looked up at Richie. âI was gonna let you do it.âÂ
âYeah, I can handle that.â Richie smirked. âAnd I wonât say anything, Cousin.â He stopped Carmen before he could say it. âI got you, Cousin. I wonât fuck it up, alright?âÂ
Carmen nodded slowly, a strangled thank you on the tip of his tongue. The door swung open behind Richie, and for a second, Carmen caught a glimpse of you. Smiling and laughing, leaned in over the table, no doubt giggling with your friends about him. Carmenâs heart squeezed, but this time, without fear. No, there was no dooming fear that you were mocking him, making fun of him. This time, he felt the content rush of adrenaline filled love. A change in his routine, yes. Unexpected, sure, but he was glad for it. Glad that you were there- here, with him.

overwhelming morning- c.berzatto
summary: carm comes to sugar to meet his niece, he meets someone else too...
pairings: carmen berzatto x fem! reader
--------------------
He was exhausted. Longest days, longer conversations, more and more responsibilities.Â
And now he was an uncle.Â
He pulled into Sugarâs driveway with a sigh, it was early, too fucking early for a Sunday, but there he sat in his car. The same white t-shirt, same jeans, same jacket, same unruly curly hair, pleading with himself to go inside. His anxiety had flared, and he couldnât really breathe, he had no idea why, or how he was supposed to go inside and meet a new human, someone who would also rely on him. He wasnât sure how heâd deal with it, and the last thing he wanted his niece to see was him crashing out.Â
âFuck me,â he whispered into the silence of the car. He saw headlights in his mirrors and he frowned. Who else was coming to Sugar and Peteâs place at 7am on a Sunday? You stepped out of the car and his heart stopped. Holy shit. It was you, you were here. You were actually here.
The girl Carmen Berzatto had been in love with since he was 12 years old. You were walking into Sugar and Peteâs house, with a kid in your arms. A 4 year old, from what he could see. A little boy, with a rainbow jacket and a hat on his head, half-asleep against your chest.Â
Sugar opened the door with a smile and pulled you in for a hug. Then the door closed, and he was left with more questions than answers, and he had to go in.Â
He knocked on the door, and you opened it, the boy still in your arms.Â
âCarmen,â you smiled. It was strange hearing you say that. âItâs nice to see you.â
âY/n,â he smiled, confusion written all over his face. âI-Itâs good to see you too.â
âCome on in, Sugarâs in the living room,âyou explained. âSheâs gorgeous,â you told him.
âMom,â the little boy yawned. âItâs too early.â
You pouted and pressed a soft kiss to his forehead. âI know, baby.â
He snuggled further into your neck and he yawned once again. Carmen smiled.Â
âThis is Mikey,â you explained. Carmen raised an eyebrow. âCoincidence, but it works pretty well in my opinion.âÂ
Sugar walked in and stared at the two of you. âHe knows?â she asked. You shook your head.Â
âItâs fine Sug, I just need to put Mikey down to nap somewhere,â you smiled. âIâll talk to him later.â
She nodded, but the scowl on her face didnât leave, and it was all for Carmen. You walked off to put Mikey in an upstairs bedroom, and Carmen followed Sugar into the living room to meet his niece. She was beautiful. She was calm, smiley, and much too adorable for one singular child, and Carmen loved her already. Any and all of his anxiety melted away when she grabbed his finger.Â
âSheâs strong,â Carmen smiled. Pete nodded, looking at his child with all of the love in the world.Â
âSheâs perfect,â Pete smiled. Sugar stood over him, watching as the two men stared at the baby.Â
âYouâre going to protect her, right Bear?â she asked. He nodded, knowing heâd do anything for her.Â
âAlways.â
You walked back in, Mikey set down for a nap. âCan I talk to you Carmen?â you asked.Â
He was pulled out of his trance, and he followed you to the kitchen. You leant against the counter, something on your mind. Mikey used to say he knew two things, Â you, and cooking. You played with the ends of the sleeves.Â
You looked older than you did when he left. He was sure he did too. You looked tired, but happy. A bit skinnier, a bit wiser. He smiled when he saw the chain heâd given you still around your neck.Â
âMikey is yours,â you told him. âWhen we were hooking up before you left for New York, I found out, but you blocked me so I couldnât tell you. I didnât come and find you immediately, and Iâm sorry. I was being immature and selfish and I was still hurt that you had left just like that. I wanted Mikey to be mine for just a little bit longer, and that was shitty of me, so Iâm sorry. If you want to be in his life, Iâd be happy for you to do that. Iâm not open to splitting time because Mikey is a really anxious kid, and he doesnât like being around new people. We can talk about that down the line, if you want to. He knows youâre his dad, but Iâve never bad-mouthed you to him. He looks at stuff about you online, but he doesnât know about the Bear. I didnât want him to think you didnât want to see him. I donât want child support, Iâm doing just fine. Iâm not telling you to make you feel bad or to get anything from you. It's been eating at me for 5 years, so I wanted to tell you. Sorry if thatâs a lot.â
He stared at you as a million thoughts ran through his head. Why had he ever broken up with you? Why did he ever block you? He couldâve had the perfect life heâd always wanted with you, and he didnât even know it. His eyes welled up with tears and he tried to push them down, but when you wrapped your arms around him, he couldnât stop himself. He held you tight and cried into your hair.Â
He had a kid. He couldâve had a wife. He couldâve been a dad. He couldâve been your husband.Â
âIâm sorry,â he croaked out. âI shouldâve never fucking left you.â
âItâs alright Carm,â you soothed him, running your hand through his hair. âI know itâs a lot.â
You both stood there like that, holding each other in the low light of the kitchen, the sun rising in the window. You were warm against him, he was colder than he thought he was, but you didnât care. You held him anyway. You cared.Â
He composed himself. âI-I want to be in his life. If t-thatâs alright?â
âOf course it is,â you nodded. âWeâll go to dinner sometime soon, yeah?âÂ
âCan I see him?â he asked, his voice smaller than heâd ever heard it.Â
You smiled. âYeah Carm, of course you can.â
You took his hand and led him upstairs. You were as calm and collected as ever. You always had been. You were so calm. Carmen was the psycho.Â
You cracked open the door to Sugar and Peteâs bedroom and Carmen got a full view of Mikey sleeping peacefully in their bed. He had the same unruly blonde curls as him, but he saw your eyes when heâd looked at him earlier. His little shoes and his jacket were placed perfectly beside the bed, his glasses were on the bedside table.Â
For the second time that morning, Carmen felt overwhelmed with the love he felt for someone. He looked at you, eyes shining when you looked at your son.Â
Maybe it was the third time that morning.

đžïžđ€ Promptober Day Twenty - Slow Morning đ€đžïž
Promptober schedule here !
| cw; accidentally no dialogue ?? just fluff
| wc; 330
You never considered yourself a morning person, content to waking up only as early as you had to, breaking down your morning routine to the basic necessities to save yourself from waking up even earlier.
It was easier now of course, waking up to the smell of coffee and the linens over the windows open just a peek from where your girlfriend had stood just a few moments prior. She made most things easier, she had a habit of making things better than they were, even if she didnât always appreciate it. You did.
Even better than the usual quick âgood morningâ and kiss on the cheek before she was out the door, this morning you had time and plenty of it. You took a deep breath as you woke up, the arm draped around your girlfriendâs waist pulling her closer to you as she slept soundly.
It was surely earlier than youâd usually want to be awake, brought out of a dream you could already feel drifting out of your memory after sheâd gotten up a few moments ago for a glass of water before falling back to sleep.
Another habit of hers youâd come to love and appreciate, full glass of water sitting next on your own nightstand a soft reminder of the thought and care she put into everything.
You pressed your nose into her shoulder softly, so as not to wake her up, breathing in the sweet, fresh scent of the laundry soap atop one of your favorite sleep shirts. âStealingâ your clothes, another habit of hers that you couldnât even think to joke about hating, finding remnants of her perfume on shirts you threw on in the morning easily the best part of your day.
You told her time and time again that youâd be a grumpy old shrewd by now if it wasnât for her and while it was a silly comparison sheâd laugh off even the truth of it, frustratingly sweet. Sugary even.

Not So Secret.
carmen berzatto x female reader
warnings - cursing.
written for my 5k celebration- post here, masterlist here, inbox here.
âYouâre gonna stare a hole through her fuckinâ head.â
âShut up.â
Richie laughs, following Carmens eyeline to where itâs fixed on you.
Youâre stood in the restaurant with Sydney, both of you giggling at something sheâs showing you on her phone. When you look up, you smile at Carmy, all soft and sweet and like butter wouldnât melt. He almost melts, a puddle of yearning on the kitchen floor.
Sugar appears next to the two of you, holding out a piece of paper.
âThis is a really rough draft of what we kind of want them to look like. Obviously you have full control, but this is kind of the vibe?â
When Carmen mentioned wanting a more personal touch on the menus, Sydney quickly offered your services. Youâre the most artistic person she knows, gifted with naturally gorgeous handwriting that almost looks like calligraphy. Plus, she knows how much everyone at The Bear likes you, having been a part of their transformation. Itâs a win - win.
âYeah, I get you. So you want the title words like Dessert in more of a cursive, and then the actual dishes and descriptions in a typeface?â
âYes! Do your thing. We trust you.â
She gives you a side hug, careful not to hit you with her bump.
âIâm gonna need some nice paper, and probably a new calligraphy pen so I can start from scratch. Iâm gonna head to the craft store, and Iâll be back.â
âCarmy will go with you!â
Richie shouts it from the doorway, where heâs been not so subtly watching the conversation. Carmy blushes, clearly caught off guard.
âHe needs to go to the craft store too, right Cousin? Good. Go. Bye!â
Carmyâs practically being pushed out the door, uncomfortable and flustered. You smile reassuringly, grabbing your bag and walking over to your car.
âYouâre okay with me driving?â
âCourse. Shouldnât I be?â
You laugh, and he canât help but grin, the sound settling nicely into his ribcage to warm him up.
âIâm a good driver, I promise. Despite what Sydney might say.â
He looks worried but gets in anyway, ever trusting you and anything you do.
He canât help but sneak glances at you as you drive. Youâre completely focused on the road in front, bottom lip pulled between your teeth as you concentrate. Carmy feels heat bloom across his chest at the action, wishing he could reach out and release it for you before you draw blood.
A text chimes through the air, startling you both. You press the button on your steering wheel so your car can read the message out loud.
From Sydney: Carmy. Tell her immediately or Iâll lock you in the walk in freezer. Sick of you acting like a lovesick puppy. This is your chance. Donât blow it, asshole. Weâre all tired.
Both of you freeze, your hands tightening on the wheel. Carmy wants to throw himself out of the moving car, but decides against it at the last minute.
You pull the car into the craft store parking lot, choosing a space and yanking the handbrake on. You turn to him, looking at him for the first time since the bombshell.
Heâs blushed all over, chest heaving and bottom lip pulled between his teeth. You almost want to reach out and release it for him, before he draws blood.
âCarmy.â
âI think, uh, yeah, I just - that was clearly sent to the wrong person. Not meant for you.â
You laugh, suddenly, and it spooks Carmy so much that he jumps out of his skin.
âYeah, Carm. That I figured.â
He laughs with you then, unsure and nervous. You reach out and place a hand on his knee, trying to calm him down. It just makes his heart lurch.
âWhatâs Syd talking about? Tell me what?â
He looks down at his lap, hands knotted together.
âI think you know.â
âWanna hear you say it,â you whisper.
He finds the courage to meet your gaze, taking a deep breath.
âI like you. So much. I canât stop talking about you to anyone and everyone thatâll listen - to the point that everyone at The Bear gives me so much shit for it. Sydney wonât get off my back, either. She says Iâm âyearningâ.â
You chuckle, rubbing patterns into the material of his jeans with your thumb.
âTheyâve all made bets,â he continues, âabout if Iâll ever tell you or not.â
âWho bet on you? And who against?â
âSyd and Richie against me. Marcus too. Tina and Sugar are on my side. Not sure why.â
âWanna make Tina and Sugar some money?â
He quirks a brow questioningly, eyes going wide when you lean over the centre console and plant your hands on either side of his face. Youâre so close to him that your breaths tangle together, one set of lungs working overtime.
âKiss me, Carm.â
He doesnât think twice, closing the gap and pressing his lips to yours. You tangle your fingers in his hair, trying to pull him impossibly closer. His hands find your back, tugging you into him as much as the limited space allows.
You whine when he bites at your lip gently, and he has to pull away to take a steadying breath before he passes out.
âYou should get your eyes checked.â
He tries to process for a moment.
âHuh?â
âYou must be blind if you canât see how much I like you, Carm. How much Iâve always liked you.â
He grins at you, bright and white, and you shake your head before leaning in to kiss him again.
When you donât make it back into the restaurant that day, everyone has never been happier to not see the both you.

Can I Be The One?
Summary: Luca is your childhood friend who has fallen in love with you. Carmy meets you through him and falls for you too Vignettes throughout the years knowing them.
Pairing: Chef Luca x female!Reader / Carmen Berzatto x female!Reader- I have never done this before. Thereâs TWO ENDINGS so you can pick whichever hot chef boyfriend you want.
Warnings: angst with a happy ending, negative inner monologue, allusions to a panic attack, language, slow burn (sort ofâŠitâs a fic which spans years), Google translate used, short smut in both endings, friends to lovers.
Notes:
1. In 2.04 in Lucaâs kitchen thereâs a handwritten sign that says âJeg elsker digâ which is I love you according to Google translate đ. So I wrote that into the Luca ending because who wrote that to him. WHO?who?WHO?WHO?⊠It was you if you want it to be.
2. I am so up for expanding both of these CHOOSE timelines. If anyone has any ideas for blurbs or just wants to chat pop up.

LUCA
PARIS
After some years of Luca working in London restaurants and climbing the ladder, heâd built his skills up at a rapid pace impressing just about everyone, including himself with how good he was. Youâd been there for him like you promised through it all, his first successful promotion where he was tasked with coming up with a new dessert. Youâd brainstorm with him and hold plates steady whilst he practiced assembly. You were there his countless attempts at spun sugar that you wound up having to pick out of his hair. The day heâd perfected his technique on that had been a relief, both for Luca and you but a sad day for the fine tooth comb industry. Seeing him flourish and be successful made you so happy. People were finally seeing Luca as you saw him. Talented, patient, dedicated and hardworking. Finally, he had something he loved that he could put all of his pent up energy into.
Every time he was offered the chance to a new place, heâd asked you to come with him and every time it had been an easy decision.
Given that youâd studied languages and spoke several, youâd agree with a joke that youâd be his unofficial translator in exchange for being his taste tester. It was easy for you to get freelance work wherever you went so it became you and Luca, travelling the world together.
Only a few weeks ago heâd asked you to come to Paris with him so he could learn new pastry techniques over there and stage at a restaurant, youâd once again agreed knowing youâd be able to pick up some translation work online.
âHe speaks French and English by the way.â You said as you made your way back to the Paris Air BnB youâd been staying in over the past month. âHe was fucking with the staff.â You continued, referring to the government official who allegedly spoke no English or French.
âI donât think government officials âmess withâ people.â Luca looked down at you and pulled a face, âHe was pretty oldâ
On this particular night heâd called you saying there was a restaurant emergency, a government official had requested off-menu, however when said official arrived, he stared blankly at any attempts to communicate in French or English.
âDonât they?â You said, âI hate to break it to you but I think that is pretty much the byline of their job description.â
âI thinkâŠI think he was just being a dickhead.â
âAlso in their job description, darling.â you whistled lowly, laughing as you looked up at him.
The way you called him that. It felt sweet, personable and rolled off the tongue and he suddenly felt it heavy in the Paris summer. Did it feel as loaded to him as it did to you? Probably not. You were so friendly and personable to everyone. Luca shook his head and tried not to make it obvious.
Of course heâd thought about you like that. It had started in fleeting moments.
The first day of his first kitchen job, or several years ago when he went to your university graduation and youâd held his arm as you walked across the grass to have photos taken, or last year youâd stopped in to see him, KFC bucket in hand after your relationship ended (Luca hated the guy anyway), or last month youâd tried 20 different variations of the same caramelized banana dessert heâd made even if you never were overly keen on banana because heâd really, really wanted to impress this celebrity chef that was coming into where he was working as sous chef.
It had become more frequent over the years with a hundred other times in between until he couldnât remember when it had become harder and harder to put it down to a fleeting thought and closer to âI think I might be in love with my best friendâ
âYouâre messing with me arenât you?â Luca asked, cocking his head to the side.
âHe seemed to understand when I dropped it towards the end of the meal and thanked him sounding like this.â You gestured at yourself âSo Iâm going to go withâŠno, he understoodâŠâ
âFucking hellâ Luca let out low exhale and then laughed. âHeyâŠthanks again for helping, the CDC has offered you a free meal.â
âWhy do you think I came down.â You joked. âWell that and I like hearing about what youâre makingâ you added on sincerely.
âYou like me being a nerd about desserts?â Luca cocked his head, a slightly teasing tone in his voice
âYeah but I like it. Itâs actually really interesting you talking about your techniqueâ You replied back âitâs like vocal food porn or somethingâ
âNah,â He laughed loudly at your description and elbowed you jokingly in the sides. âYou just have a sweet tooth. I can promise you most people are not that interested.â
âPfft their loss.âŠâ You looped your arm through his and continued âYou know Iâm so proud of you, Luca, how much energy and love you put into this. Itâs so cool. Youâve improved so much since your first dish and you just keep getting better.â
You were there in the restaurant for the first time a dish heâd fully made himself was served in the London restaurant heâd started at. Thai green curried pineapple. It had gone out first to the table next to you and youâd watched the woman keenly, waiting for her reaction. Sheâd loved it , of course she had, it was made by Luca. It was an open kitchen so youâd shot him a subtle thumbs up when you caught him staring through, fingers drumming over his mouth, nervous, hoping to alleviate his nerves. Youâd proceeded to rave about the dish and her reaction, in detail, to him, all the way home, so excitedly, that you were sure half of the tube heard you. Your pride in him calmed his nerves, put him at ease, not just because you were his supportive best friend, but because it would be impossible to fake your enthusiasm.
Luca turned his head, not wanting to meet your eye for fear heâd run his mouth off âCouldnât do it without you, thank you for always being there for me through it all, by the way I think I might have fallen in love with youâ
âThanks⊠not just for that, I mean for everythingâŠâ he stopped and mentally chastised himself for acting so awkward âHow are you finding it?â He asked instead âI ask a lot of you, I knowâ
âLuca. I get to travel the world with my best friend, working from beautiful locations, whilst he lives his dream. Itâs incredible.â
You were looking up at him, smiling, clearly ecstatically happy . And why wouldnât you be. In a beautiful city with your best friend.
He knew he was your best friend but hearing you call him that felt weird. âYou ARE her best friend, youâre not her boyfriend. Did you forget? Can master passionfruit macarons in a day but canât understand that?
âOhâŠby the wayâŠI got you something.â
Your voice pulled him from his thoughts as you paused on the middle of the path and opened your bag with your free hand and passed him a napkin and written on it was a phrase in French.
âStill keeping up with that tradition?â He asked with a raised eyebrow.
âYeah I might be.â You teased back. âDonât pretend I donât know you love them!â
Luca of course loved the little tradition youâd started and had to fight back the grin that was threatening to break out on his face but he couldnât.
Youâd leave him a message written in the language of wherever he was working at the time. âGood luckâ on a napkin for his first role in London, There was one from a trip of Venice (âYouâre the best <3â- sei il migliore), and another from Seville (âYouâve got this <3â - tienes esto) and one from Rotterdam (âI believe in you <3â - ik geloof in jou). Theyâd made their way into books, notes from each place heâd visited, pressed between pages as memories.
The newest one in French was âI am so proud of youâ - je suis si fier de toi <3
He would keep it with him tucked into a pocket until you left Paris for Chicago and heâd move it into a notebook alongside a step by step for CanelĂ©s, a photo of the first time heâd made a Paris-Brest and tickets from your first visit to the Louvre and one of you heâd taken, candid, looking up at the sparkling Eiffel Tower.
âââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
BOTH
CHICAGO
All you had heard about since Luca had started working at Ever, a 3 star Chicago restaurant, was this other chef.
Every day. All day.
Heâd come home to you sounding off. âCarmen did this better than me, Carmen is quicker than me, Carmen pitted two bags of peas when everyone else had only pitted half of one,â
You knew Luca wasnât used to being second best and you knew it was getting to him. Heâd been the best everywhere heâd been, except now.
Luca would stay up later and later in an attempt to get better, sometimes only sleeping for an hour. It was as if he felt like all his hard work would be for nothing and heâd be back as the guy who barely passed his exams and got in trouble all the time. Youâd wake up, go to the kitchen for breakfast and find Luca had been up for three hours practicing folding dough or picking seeds out of strawberries or whatever the head chef had them doing the day before.
You were growing concerned, you knew why it was bothering him and had voiced to him several times to varying results that there was nothing wrong with being second best sous chef at a Michelin star restaurant. This other guys ability didnât make him less.
After listening to Luca explain that Carmen managed to get the layering of butter and dough just perfect for croissants and had made two dozen whilst everyone else was still on their first and how he could brown a baked alaska in 15 seconds without the ice cream melting, youâd suggested that maybe he should become friends with him.
âWhy donât you ask him how he does it?â You asked him âMaybe heâd be happy to share?â
âWhat?â
Luca looked in thought for a moment, as if he was only just clicking this was an option, considering it before you continued.
âIâm worried about how hard youâre pushing yourself, bit of competition is fine but youâll wear yourself out at this rateâŠPlus maybe thereâs something you can show him that he might need to knowâ
He knew you were right. You usually were. Typical of you to be able to rationalise his thoughts within minutes. Of course youâd suggest he becomes friends with Carmen, why wouldnât you... âYou know me too well, youâre good at knowing what I need to hear.â
***
You hadnât expected Luca to literally show up with Carmen the next day.
And the next, and the next and the next.
If you were honest, you didnât know what you were expecting from this guy Luca had ranted about for weeks but youâd gotten on with him far more than you expected. Carmen had been shy at first but as you spent more time with him, youâd grown to liked his quiet humour and how remarkably observant he was. He instantly noticed your jeans as vintage Levi 501s, the only type of jean youâd worn since you could remember and eventually heâd become friends with both of you.
Carmen had taken a liking to you, surprising even himself. You were warm, friendly, and outgoing. You had this incredible ability to make absolutely anyone feel like the only person in the room.
Like when he or Luca broke down the process of making the dish theyâd made, youâd be looking like it was describing the most interesting story youâd heard.
Questions like âso how do you curl the red pepper tuiles? Is that with a knife or am I a total idiot?â and âis it always a green apple in the sugar dome?â and âhow do you know when the yuzu jelly is done?â Even the things youâd say like âCan you make Le Tendance with white chocolate or does it have to be darkâ
Carmy knew you probably didnât know the difference between the different types of pans he mentioned or why it mattered. There was no stake in the debate he and Luca had been having over compressed watermelon sorbet for you. But you cared. You always cared.
It was endearing and made him feel appreciated, kept him passionate about cooking even after a long day so he warmed to you, like youâd inadvertently got a part of him, given him a quiet understanding and support, he desperately craved but thought heâd never get.
He was achingly jealous of Luca and your unwavering love and support. It was evident from how youâd gush supportively over Luca perfecting edible flowers or lychee creme or whatever. Carmy desperately craved more of the warmth and love you gave so freely.
****
âHere.â
Carmy pushed a plate of spaghetti gratin towards you. âuh, try it, lemme know what you think. Something IâveâŠerm, been..working on.â
âFor me?â You grinned excitedly, not even waiting for him to nod before picked up your fork and helped yourself to some, slipping it past your lips.
âHoly fuckâ you moaned as the taste hit you. âThatâs amazing, Carmy, so goodâŠâ
âBetter than that one in Mayfair?â Luca asked, from beside you, with a small smile. Your eyes met his and you nodded causing him to smirk. âTold you it was good, manâ he said to Carmy patting him on the shoulder âthis guys good at everything!â
âOh god yeahâ you took another bite âFuck me this isâŠwow.â
âSeeâŠâ Luca nodded encouragly âAnd thats high praise from her. She loves that place!â
âWhaâ one in Mayfair?â Carmy turned to you, curious. He hadnât been but he knew there was a large list of fine dining places there and was keen to know what, or rather, who you had to compare his against.
âMurano. My family used to have dinner there once a weekâ you explained ââŠitâs an incredible restaurant. It does the best spaghetti gratin Iâve ever hadâŠâ you dug your fork in again and helped yourself to more, pausing as you did âWell⊠until this one. Have you been to London? We should all go.â
You were effortlessly likeable, funny. Colourful flowers and feathers snaking their way up your arm, a little silver nose ring, vintage jeans and leather jackets. âOf course handsome Luca would have a cool girlfriend like you.â
âYou two married long orâŠâ Carmy had asked before he could stop himself and immediately winced at how heâd just blurted it out, kicking himself internally.
Beside him, Luca attempted to cover up his surprised expression as quickly as possible and wondered if it was noticeable how he tensed. Did Carmy have a thing for you? What would you say? Obviously sheâs going to say youâre not together because guess what? Youâre not. Just because youâve deluded yourself into thinking sheâs your girl doesnât mean she is. Donât fuck up the one consistent relationship youâve had in your life.
âOhâŠweâre not, weâre not married, heâs my best friend.â You said off hand as you pulled the fork from your mouth, slowly.
âOhâŠI thoâŠâ Carmy stopped himself as he caught Lucaâs eye. Did he know?
The pair of them held the silence for a few seconds, each wondering if the other was as into you as they were. Luca moved first, dropping his hand from where it was resting over his lips, as if he meant to speak but you beat him to it
âCan I eat all of this?â You pointed at the dish with your fork.
And like that the moment was gone. Youâd changed the subject, completely unaware of the tension in the air.
Carmy nodded. He liked that you always wanted another taste. In the kitchen, taste tests were usually quick, a bite to give some feedback and then on to the next. Here in the kitchen of a rental youâd got a short lease on was different.
The need you had for more of what he served gave him more confidence, reassured him. It somehow felt more rewarding than a colleague having a test only to say âPerfect, chef. Thanksâ.
And Against all odds and all expectations, heâd found himself also wanting more.
âââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
CARMY
LONDON
Youâd left Chicago with Luca after a few months to move to Copenhagen but had promised to keep in touch. From when you arrived, youâd been raving about it to him. How beautiful it was, how relaxed you felt there, so when heâd been offered the chance to go over to Noma and work, heâd been all too happy to go.
Truth be told, he also missed you. Calls and texts a were not cutting it.
Carmy was never one for answering the phone. Maybe it was a defense mechanism with Mikey never answering and not wanting to get his hopes up that it was his brother finally reaching out. Until you. If anything he found himself calling or texting you even when he was tired.
Talking to you helped switch off the static in his head, it was like you were his reminder to stay grounded, stay in the moment.
Carmy had scheduled his flights so heâd have a few days in London before his flight to Copenhagen, mostly to try the places youâd recommended. Heâd reached out to ask for the details and it had just so happened youâd been in town for a friends wedding. Youâd offered to come meet you the day after, heâd agreed in a second, happy for the opportunity to spend time with you.
****
Markets sprawled across different corners of the city, each with their own individual personality and you seemed to know them like the back of your hand. Heâd let you lead, and it was the fourth one youâd been to with him today and at each one youâd insisted on buying from numerous stalls and making him try a variety of things of varying quality as well as buying yourself a pin that went straight onto the denim jacket you had slung loosely over your shoulders.
âSometimes itâs good, sometimes less so, you knowâ you hooked your legs over the bench youâd managed to get to before a large group of school kids. âI know itâs not fancy but I just love the markets. All of âemâ
âI can get not fancy,â Carmen laughed, something he noticed he did more often around you. It had become almost alien to smile or enjoy himself but with you it came naturally âI donât really cook for myself all thaâ muchâ He helped himself to some of your bang-bang noodles and twisted them around with his chopsticks âitâs comfort food. I get it,â
âYeah I betâŠCome home after cooking all day, you probably just want something you can put in the microwave.â
âSometimes not even that So a week ago? Had leftover pizza and Iâm talkinâ anymore leftover and I think it woulda just been gone off pizza. Didnât even re-heat itâ
âI donât know if thatâs gross or impressive!â You laughed and it made Carmy smile, he loved it that he could draw that reaction from you and loved that he smiled, really smiled, with you. He couldnât remember the last time he could be like that around someone.
You paused for a minute, taking a drink from your can of Diet Coke before you spoke again.
âReservations at eight by the way. I donât know if itâll compare but I wanted you to try it.â
âReservation?â Carmy tilted his head, wondering if heâd forgotten something.
âYeah.â You nodded giving him a wide grin âitâs a great restaurant in the Shard. You donât think Iâd take a chef to London and not try somewhere did you?â
****
That evening he found himself in a navy dress shirt heâd bought that same day sitting across from you. Youâd changed into a little black dress, a small cardigan that was over your shoulders, sliding slightly down and he could see a pink peony on your shoulder.
If he was honest, he half been expecting Luca to show up but when youâd approached the maitre d, heâd greeted you by name and said âtable for twoâ and Carmy had silently breathed a sigh of relief and then instantly felt guilty over it.
Luca was a nice guy. Carmy sometimes wished he was a raging asshole so it would be easier to put his jealousy of him down to that and not his proximity and closeness to you.
****
âYou look really good in navy.â You complimented, cutting through his thoughts. The waiter just had cleared away one of the other countless courses, a sous vide duck, that was as expected; delicious, even if heâd have opted for a different garnish.
Carmy felt his heart pick up. Had you just been sitting there thinking he looked good? He felt himself smile a little but was quick to downplay it, blinking back a response âyou⊠you think?â
âYeah, Navy really suits you, Carmy. You should wear it more often...â
âDoneâ he thought to himself.
âThanks, I mean you, uh, you look nice too,â
You smiled at him but before you could respond, the waiter was at your table again, with a further course. Steamed chocolate sponge, baked white chocolate and sugar snap salad, the first of a few desserts.
âWowâ you muttered and you pointed at the plate âthis looks so goodâŠâ you watched him take a bite and nod approvingly before you asked âIs it weird being on this side of the wall? Doing the eating and not the cooking?â
âA littleâŠuh, I guess itâs not often that mânot worrying about everything being perfect,â Carmy grimaced and ran a hand through his hair âI feel tuned into their kitchen even though Iâve never been in it. Is that weird?â His hand rested over his chin waiting for you to respond.
You shook your head âNo⊠No I donât think soâŠâ you dropped your voice and leant in closer. He could smell your perfume, your shampoo and soap from your skin. âif so, itâs also weird that I canât switch off the translating and have been evasdropping on that German couple,â you looked to your right with your eyes
Taking your joke as a distraction from how much heâd like to bury his lips in your neck and kiss you, he laughed and took a bite of his dish. Youâd made a good decision, this restaurant was excellent as youâd promised it would be.
Is this what you did with Luca? Go travel and visit places with him and try new foods and laugh?
A mix between jealousy and confusion crossed his mind as the thought occurred and he found himself wondering how Luca could not make a fucking move.
Is he crazy or does he have the willpower of a fucking saint. The question rang in Carmens mind before âYouâre not making a move either,â he told himself internally âbeing jealous of her friend, being jealous of a guy sheâs known since she was a kid. Sheâs not into you. She does not want you, fucko. She could do better than you. You canât compete, sheâs not going to want you. You just wish youâd had her all this time like Luca has donât you, would you have been as fucked in the head if youâd had her supporting you all this time?
âCarmy?â You asked with a raised eyebrow. âYou kinda went somewhere there? You goodâ
âUh, yeah, imma just go for a quick smoke..â he began to stand up and excused himself as he did
âThereâs no terrace, youâll have to go to ground, you want me to come with?â You made a move to put down your fork, to go with him. You looked a little concerned like you werenât 100% buying that it was a nicotine craving driving the need for air.
âNo no, you stay here, jusâ need toâŠâ he waved and headed out pressing the button to take him to the ground level.
Once Carmy was outside, he ignored the request for smokers not to loiter too close to the building and lit up, taking a drag and letting the nicotine hit, leaning back against one of the pillars.
âI am so fuckedâ
âââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
BOTH
COPENHAGEN
âSo the catâŠ?â Carmy started to ask
Heâd been in the city a week, deciding heâd work in Copenhagen for a while before heading to New York, and had been staying on a houseboat that apparently had a cat. Despite the note asking him to leave water out for the cat. The water never moved and there was no cat ever there.
You and Luca shared a look and started laughing.
âWe lived on this boat until recently. Six months and I never saw that cat once. Bowl never moved.â you said âMy theory is that the cat died and they still leave water out for it, Lucaâs convinced it was a stray. He still changed the water every day, which was pretty sweet of himâŠâ
Luca tilted his head a little. Youâd thought it was sweet? Him looking after some imaginary cat? Maybe he should get a real one and wondered if he should mention it to you. âBit coupley isnât it, getting a cat? Get a cat so she thinks itâs cute and sees you with the cat andâŠyou still wonât tell her youâre in love with her will youâ Luca told himself internally. He couldnât stop picturing it though and noted it down as a maybe for the future idea.
****
âTell Carmy about that Home Economics class you had!â Luca took a sip of his drink as the three of you sat at the table of the houseboat, sharing a few drinks one evening.
âOh!â You perked up putting down your own as you sat up on your seat âthis is so funny! We had this teacher, who set us task to bring in a a lunch you made at home, now I totally forgot because I had my French mock exam that morningâŠso of course I had to think fast so I didnât get detention!â
You paused for dramatic effect. Luca biting back a laugh knowing what was coming. âStill canât believe you got away with that.â He shook his head.
âI went to KFC on my lunch and got the strips and two sides, the corn and the salad, I spent the rest of my lunch, deconstructing it⊠if you will..â you gestured dramatically âso cutting up the chicken, peeling the skin off, eating some of it, shelling the corn with a blunt compass,â you emphasised, thinking your skill was impressive, âand mixing it into the salad and pretended Iâd made a chicken salad.â
âShe got a fucking A as well,â Luca commented as Carmy laughed at your ridiculous improvisation. âDonât know how, but apparently Mrs Kennedy had never had a KFC before!â
âYou might have if you werenât skiving.â You raised your eyebrows. âForever bunking this oneâ you pointed at him but you were smiling fondly as you did.
âHey, You skived sometimes too. I remember you skived off PE to go to that game with me!â Luca joked back, playfully poking you in the side
âYeah went all that way, sat with your fans and we lostâ
Your pout drew a smile from Luca who knew you supported his teams rival, before you continued âand that goal was still not offside!â you emphasised.
Luca began to insist that it was, with a playful grin, knowing he was winding you up at how aggrieved you were over a game that was well over decade old.
Carmy forced a smile at the back and forth between you and Luca, taking another sip of his own drink, hoping the coolness would quell the feeling inside.
He hated it that it bothered him that you and Luca had all these shared memories, that the only time you ever bickered was over your rival teams and even then it was teasing, that Luca had known all these different versions of you, that he probably would always have that shared bond with you.
You and Luca were now bantering back and forth in a playful way that made his chest hurt so he stood up and made his way to the kitchen and began shuffling through the drawers until he found something wedged between two of them.
âWhat the hell is this ?â Carmy couldnât help himself as he pulled out the cheese knife. There is no way this was one of Lucaâs that heâd left when heâd lived on the boat, meaning it had to beâŠ
âOh my god my knife!â You perked up, abandoning your spot at the table âIâd wondered that was!â
Your cheese knife.
Your old, falling apart, slightlyâŠokay very, blunt cheese knife.
Luca had tried on multiple occasions to persuade you to get a new one but youâd insisted you liked your old one and trusted it. Until it disappeared when you moved off the houseboat and you assumed youâd accidentally knocked it into the water or something.
âNot that knifeâ Luca groaned as his eyes shot over to the black handled knife Carmy held. âI was hoping youâd lost that for goodâ he grinned half jokingly âbut it just keeps coming backâ
âItâs a knife, Luca, not a haunted doll!â You laughed âI must have just left it here before we moved!â
âWouldnât be surprised if it was haunted.â It was his turn to pull a face, first at you then at Carmy.
âHey I got this knife my first year of University andâŠâ you attempted to protest
âYeah I can tell..â Carmy spoke, giving you a pointed look. âItâs falling apart!â
âIt never failed me.â You continued ignoring both of them at this point âwhen I wanted a late night block of cheese it was thereâŠâ
âYou coulda got a professional one or anythinâ thatâs not some cheap whole sale crapâ
âActually, it was from Ikea.â
The shared expression of horror between the two men was enough for you to crack up and concede, knowing you could not defend your knife to one chef, let alone two.
âOkayâ you threw your hands up âFine⊠but how about we leave it here, on this boatâŠtoâŠâ
âFuckinâ mentally scar any chef that might be put up here in the future?â Carmy added with a laugh and was only met with a swift side eye from you, followed by a sly smirk suggesting you knew he and Luca had convinced you.
****
âWhatâs the note say?â Carmy asked nodding at a piece of paper glued to the front of Lucaâs first Copenhagen notebook. Heâd taken it out to read over some notes, prepare himself and prep.
He knew it was likely in Danish but it didnât look like one of the common phrases heâd tried, to little avail, to practice. It looked a bit like your writing, but he couldnât be sure.
Luca felt a flood of warmth at the chance to talk about it.
âSo itâs this little tradition we do, she writes me these sentences in whatever language of the country weâre staying in. Theyâre usually like, âWell doneâ or âyouâre the bestâ or something.â he enthused
âOh.â Was all Carmy could manage at first. The jealousy sat in his stomach in a way he wasnât entirely comfortable with. Carmy hated that he was jealous but he wanted you to write him cute notes, phrases heâd only half understand âSoundsâŠerm, sounds nice.â was all he managed before his throat went dry.
âWhat are you drawing anyway?â Luca nodded at the half open notebook. As his eyes flickered down to the paper, Carmy felt his stomach drop, the breeze had blown the pages past the passionfruite posset, past the wagu beef, past the shaded menu options and right toâŠ
You
Carmy couldnât cover it quickly enough.
Luca just looked from the paper, back to Carmy, back to you and could feel his heartbeat in his ears.
Course Carmy likes her too. And heâs better than you at everything. Sheâd pick him you know. Probably already has. Why did you introduce them? That would be tragic. Introducing the one woman youâre desperately in love with to her future man and never making the move yourself. Had her as your best friend, your roommate and still couldnât tell her you wanted her. Youâre a fucking idiot.
He said your name.
âYou like her?â Loud enough for Carmy but not for you. Carmy didnât answer but he didnât close over his book. âYou into her?â
After a moment, Luca sighed, and scratched his cheek and sat beside him, accepting Carmyâs silence as confirmation.
âYeah, me too mate.â He said quietly before passing his friend a drink.

LUCA
COPENHAGEN
With Luca securing his dream job and you able to work remotely, youâd found a bigger place together in Copenhagen. The temporary houseboat to a small place to this bigger apartment now, with a large open plan kitchen and a walk in pantry for Luca to store whatever he might need when he brought work home with him. You didnât mind as long as he let you taste it.
Youâd won the coin toss and scored the room that overlooked the water. Luca hadnât complained, you worked mostly from home so it made sense for you to have the room with a view and also heâd have conceded anyway, knowing it would make you happy.
****
As Luca entered the room, he saw you from behind, a pair of mid thigh cycle shorts on and a large oversized black t-shirt, getting something out of the fridge. It slowly dawned on him that you were wearing his t-shirt.
The t-shirt on him was tight over his broad shoulders, stopping on his hips but on you, it hung loose and ended about at the end of your thigh, owing to the big height difference between the two of you. Making it look like it was all you were wearing. Heâd seen you in shorts before, of course he had but this felt different. It was his t-shirt over the shorts making his brain go haywire.
âHey!â You turned and greeted him, smiling. âHow was work? Did that 70th birthday go well?â
âYouâreâŠyouâre wearing my shirt.â was all he could manage before he felt his throat dry up. âAre you?â
âGet a grip man what are you a fucking teenagerâ he chastised himself internally. Youâve drawn attention to it, you could have just enjoyed the view a little while longerâŠâ
âOh shit sorry, yeah, I just, I got stuff down mine and the doorbell was ringing and yours was at the top of the clean laundry. I didnât think it was appropriate to open the door in just my bra.â You put what you needed on the counter and moved back beginning to prepare whatever you were making. âNot the best first impression. He might have got the wrong ideaâŠâ
Luca just hummed a laugh and didnât say anything as he tried to stop his brain wandering to you wearing his shirt in other scenarios and he had to shut his eyes. He brought his hand to his temple, and massaged, hoping he could conceal his brain betraying him as tiredness.
âIt was the landlord.â You carried on âHe said rents due on the 2nd, the utility room is on the 5th floor and heâd like you to get him a reservation, he likes rhubarb and pistachio sorbetâ you began relaying the translation of the landlords message.
It was around a minute later he realised he hadnât actually replied being too busy thinking about, walking over to you, lifting you onto the counter and kissing you hard, sliding down those shorts and having you just in his shirt.
âLuca? Luca, are you okay?â He snapped back to Earth realising you were looking at him âyou kinda zoned outâ
âUh yeah, rent by the 5th, utilities on the 2ndâ he repeats, waving his hand.
âOther way round, you dopeâ you laughed. âCome here and help me anywayâ You wave him over to the kitchen. âIâm making something. Sorry to take work home with you but I need your expertise!â
âBranching out from the air fryer?â he raises an eyebrow and you laugh
âWhat! itâs quick!â You protested in defence.
He smiled in agreement âYou got a point. Come on now what do you need help with?â
You nodded towards some peaches âCan you dice those whilst I fix this dough out?â
Luca agreed and began dicing but he couldnât help his eyes, drift back you for a few moments every so often. He watched as you attempted to knead the dough but couldnât quite get the pressure right and struggled to push down owing to the angles.
âNo, like this. The angles better if youâŠâ Luca put down the knife, peaches sliced and diced to perfection. âHere Iâll show youâ
He moved around the counter and put an arm either side of you, his hands on top of yours, pressing yours moulding the dough, as you let him lead, relaxing. He began holding your hands with his so he could knead whilst showing you. He tried to resist the urge to press into you, to hold you tight against him.
âLike this, seeâ he said quietly and you nodded, watching his hands and yours under them as he moved effortlessly.
âYes, chefâ you jokingly quipped and Luca had to bite his lip to stop him dropping to your neck.
It wasnât quite what heâd like to be doing right now but it settled something else for him. So much so that maybe it was even preferable. This almost quietly domestic, almost coupley activity.
When the dough was done, he reluctantly stepped back instantly missing the contact with you, as he watched you line the dish with the dough and peaches and slide it into the oven.
âThanks Lucaâ you grinned at him.
âAnytime.â Was about all he could manage and he meant it, that two minutes set his stomach alight more than anything he could remember.
You ate it together on the small balcony later that evening and as youâd asked him how it felt to finally get everything he wanted; job as head pastry chef at a Michelin restaurant and beautiful place to call home in a gorgeous city. He had to hold himself back from saying
How can I have everything I want but I donât have you. Not in the way I want you.
âââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
CARMY
NEW YORK
âHowâs Eleven Madison Park.â You asked him. Heâd started a few months ago and told you to come visit when you were next in New York. Of course youâd accepted.
The head chef hates me. And not just from a cooking point of view. He actively hates me. I throw up every day before work and usually have a panic attack in the walk-in at least twice a week, he gets weirdly personal, he thinks Iâm shit, told me to die yesterday. Carmy thought but hesitated, reluctant to dump his stresses out there in the open incase you thought he was overreacting.
âItâs good, but erm, I mean itâsâŠa lot, the head chef heâsâŠâ
âA dick?â You suggested recognising the âI hate my bossâ look on his face.
Carmy looked a little startled and then he let out a breathy laugh. âHeâs one of the best chefs in the worldâŠbut yeahâŠheâs an assâŠâ he stopped
âWhat does he say to you?â You asked, carefully.
Carmy didnât want to say it out loud, saying it out loud felt like it would give more weight to the words and some deep paranoid part of him worried youâd agree or even worse that youâd realise and think âheâs got a point, you are worthless and insecure and too slow and patheticâ
âYknowâŠjust always on meâŠâ his voice was quiet.
He felt the twitch in his leg and ran a hand over his mouth biting on his knuckle for a few seconds, trying to distract himself but all he could hear was his voice in his head.
âCarmy?â You noticed the furrow in his brow and his leg bouncing and his hands against his mouth âYou âkay?â
When he didnât respond, you continued, concerned but careful. âCarmy, babe, can you look at me? Thatâs all I need you to do,â
It was a struggle as he rose his head, forced his eyes open and locked his wide eyed stare onto yours. You smiled gently and exhaled, gesturing for him to follow.
He did and you did this a few more times, talking him through breathing a few more times.
âWell done fucko, she definitely thinks youâre crazy nowâ
But your expression didnât suggest that at all. The opposite. Your look was one of understanding, of compassion and kindness.
âI find this helps.â You lifted your fingers to your own neck where it joined with your shoulder, the clavicle just below, you pressed down in a massaging motion.
âCan I touch you?â You ask and Carmen swore he short circuited but instead he just nodded and hoped it wasnât too needy, too quick that he responded to you asking to touch him.
With his permission, you put your hand on him, a copy of your own. âLike this.â your hand was on his chest right over his clavicle, circling my gently âFocus on my voiceâ
You continued to talk to him until he held his heart rate calm and whispered out a âthank youâ
âGlad I can helpâ Before you removed your hand from his chest, your fingers brushed the gold chain he always wore, you looped it out from under his shirt. âI like this.â
âThank you.â He said again, trying to focus on the words and not the soft touch âhad it since I can remember.â
âThereâs another pressure pointâŠâ you said, and took his hand and gently pressed between his thumb and finger, âJust hereâŠ.â
Your hand paused as the other side skirted his palm and you froze, turning it over and seeing a partially healed burn, still red and sore. âOuch.â
âOccupational hazardâ he said with a wry smile. âItâs fine now, was worse a few days agoâ he hummed
âLemme clean it properly for you. I see plenty of utensil related injuries. My best friend is a chef too, remember. Dont want you to make it worseâŠâ
Of course, fucking Luca. Handsome and a nice guy. What a prick.
He was pretty silent as he you cleaned it for him then youâd insisted on a cream, tracing the cut gently once youâd done âThere we go, good as newâ
âI like you being here.â He squeezed your hand in a moment of bravery âitâs quieterâ
A laugh escaped your lips âNo ones ever thought of me as quiet but Iâm glad I can help.â You gave him such a lovely, soft smile that he couldnât help but fall in love with you again.
âI mean in my head.â He said with a laugh âyou, uh, yâmake it quiet in my headâ
Its like you turn down the volume in my head and up the warm brightness, I love you. No one has ever been like this with me. I think Iâd fall apart without you. I love you.
You squeezed his hand gently âIâm glad I can do that for youâ and he could have sworn he felt it in his chest.
âââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
LUCA
COPENHAGEN
Luca was barely able to keep the grin off his face. Heâd been working on a special dessert just for you, going in early, finishing late, all to perfect this.
The thinnest wafer with a soft caramel creme scooped over centre, topped with a milk chocolate dome. It was a fine dining version of a long since discontinued chocolate bar that youâd loved and he could hear you approach the restaurant kitchen in perfect time.
âHey! You ready to take off? Film starts in half an hour?â
âHereâŠIâŠâ He carefully lifted the lid from the plate. âI made something for you!â
âOh my god this looks amazing!â You stared putting down your bag, as Luca prodded the pouring chocolate towards you. You picked it up and he watched your face completely light up as you poured to reveal the concoction under it.
âWowâŠthis is so cool!âŠwaitâŠIs thisâŠâ Your eyes lit up when you clocked what had inspired the assembled plate in front of you. âNo way! Luca, how did you do this?â
His hands ran through his waves a few times and he crossed muscular arms over his large chest.
âI made it.â He said as if it was a love confession âfor you.â
âOh my god. Okay, Iâm going to need you to walk me through it!? This has to be my favourite thing youâve ever made and I havenât even tried it yet! What even made you think of this? this is so coolâ
Luca grinned and it was the same wicked smile he used to give you when you were younger and he was up to something.
âBecause I love you and you miss it and you look for it in every food store in every country we go to. You think I donât see you looking but I do. If they wonât bring it back and make you happy, Iâll bring it back for you. Sorry it took so long. I wanted it to be perfect because youâre perfect. I love youâ
âYou wanna know how I made it?â
Luca gave you that look. He loved it when you asked about his process, you always did but this, the chance to gush about how he created something for you? He could do this all day.
âCourse I do!â You spooned a large amount into your mouth and couldnât stop the sound that escaped your mouth. âFuck, this is insane. Itâs perfect, Luca, oh my godâ
âSo to get the wafers right, you have to make sure itâs smooth wheat flour, see.â he used a fork to point at the rippled wafer in the dessert, pointing out the waves heâd folded the wafer into. âAnd I had to match the water at exactly the right about, increase or decrease based on the soaking characteristics of the flour. Took me a couple of gosâŠto get it exactly like it used to beâŠfirst couple it was too dense, the consistency was all off, after that it wasnât thick enough and would break when I tried to roll it.â
You were looking at him like you were interested as you helped yourself to more.
âAnd youâre going off memory? For the consistency?â It was impressive being that the bar had been discontinued for about ten years.
Luca nodded, spurred on by how impressed you sounded âyeah I remember them. Super soft, so thin, folded over but with space between each waveâŠhave to do it perfectly or it breaks when you roll it. Itâs got to be feather soft.â
âYou are such a nerd.â You said, but your eyes were soft and you were smiling at him softly âGo onâŠâ you prompted
He shot a glance up to see you watching as if you couldnât take your eyes off him, hanging on every word, he often worried he was being a geek or boring when he did this but you looked so engaged.
Luca was grateful you followed that with âhow did you make the restâ because if you hadnât the âitâs no problem, Iâd give you anything. I love you so much I created this because you miss it.â was sitting at the back of his throat.â
âThe creme caramel was a little bit trickier than your standard, see itâs not got the regular consistency, itâs more dense and itâs closer to a creme than actual caramel.â He took a small scoop with a teaspoon and smeared it across an edge of a plate so you could see it spread thinly, smooth and creamy. âItâs all in the texture. The chocolate is all about the tempering⊠I wanted the dome to reveal it perfectly no matter where you started your pour, so I made twenty batches and practised so the chocolate would melt and reveal like a curtain pull back rather than just caving in⊠hold on,â
He got up, left the table and came back with two batches of domes and demonstrated for you, showing you on how the remaining earlier batches, it caved in but on the newer batches the melt was almost like a gravity defying curtain pull up.
Engrossed you watched like it was a magic trick.
âLuca this isâŠone of the sweetest things anyone has ever done for me.â You said softly âThank you so much.â
âDoes it taste like it did?â He asked the important question.
âYou know.â You tapped the fork off the plate âUsually whenever they bring something back, itâs never as good. ThisâŠâ you ate some more âis so incredible. Itâs better. You are a genius! Who else can make desserts based on discontinued chocolate bars from memory alone! Youâre so talented Luca, no one deserves this more than you.â
âI wouldnât be where I am without you, you believed in me even when I didnât believe in myselfâ
âItâs easy to believe in you when youâre so clearly talented. Is this going on the menu?â
Luca nodded his head âIt was meant to be just for you but I think I mightâŠbut Iâll still make it for you anytime you ever want it, maybe Iâll call it âThe [Name]â,â
The smile you gave him was one heâd have given anything to see forever.
âââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
CARMY
NEW YORK
âAre you fucking kidding me? You think by the time the flight takes off and lands itâd be defrosted.â
You were staring at the departure board at JFK airport, your oversized luggage beside you as you drummed your fingers off the handle- DELAYED- AWAIT FURTHER ANNOUNCEMENT written next to your flight.
Carmy was all too aware of what the snow storm on both sides of the Atlantic meant as he stood beside you wondering if he thought it was wrong of him for hoping the snowstorm engulfing the airport was long lasting enough to ground your flight. He knew his own flight would be delayed too.
âYouâre a selfish mother fucker, wanting her flight grounded, Sheâll easily go off and check into some fancy hotel and youâll be alone and itâll be what you deserveâ
âAttention all passengers- We regret to inform you flight DAT150846 to Copenhagen is cancelled. Please see our customer relations desk for further communications.â
âFuckâ you whistled and you started typing on your phone, no doubt sourcing alternatives.
âI mean I can get to Esbjerg from Newark but my flight wonât leave until tomorrow and thereâs always the risk of the trains being cancelled so thatâs one of a hell of an Uber. Which means Iâll get inâŠâ you trailed off, as you attempted to work out the time difference.
âDonât goâ he wanted to say. He opened his mouth to sayâŠsomething, anything but was cut off by the tannoy.
âFurther announcement to all passengers travelling on the flight AA113717 to Chicago. This flight has now been cancelled. Please see our customer relations desk for more information.
âShit thatâs your flight, Carmy, theyâre both cancelledâ the second announcement interrupted your counting. You locked your phone as if it was his announcement and not yours that made your mind up and looked at him.
âGoodâ he thinks back to the Christmases of past, screaming, tension, arguments and yelling, hanging anxiety waiting for all of the above. The mental image of Donna, his mother, locked in her own car, which sheâd plowed through the front of the family home a few years back, he thought of the Christmas he worked, where his executive chef chewed him out forâŠfuck knows, sitting there taking personal jibes after personal jibes, and thought âIâd rather spend it with youâ
Subconsciously he straightens up, realising he probably should say something.
âItâs okayâŠI uh, donât mind, Christmases my way can beâŠa lotâ he shrugged and you understood.
Carmy had, in enough words for you to understand explained that his family, especially around Christmas, were in the most tactful wording; difficult. He didnât mention them often, you knew he didnât like taking about them but you knew enough to know it wasnât usually a fun Christmas for him.
âThis might be so weird, I know youâve got your cousin in the city who youâre probably having dinner with but do you⊠maybe want to come to the air BnB Iâm renting for Christmas. Not expecting you to cook off the clock, we can order in?â
âMichelle left a few days ago.â He said, referring to his cousin leaving for Chicago before the storm blew in, instead of âYes, Iâd love that. Iâd rather be with you anywayâ. Kicking himself internally, he took a breath âI meanâŠnot that changesâŠâ he brought his hand through his wavy hair before he took a breaths
âIâd like that. That soundsâŠgreat.â
****
Youâd done the best you could, spending the dying hours of Christmas Eve decorating the Air BnB. Carmy had arrived early with a take out breakfast from a deli you loved and youâd spent the morning eating.
Wanting Carmy to open his present first, you passed it over and watched him unwrap it and the realisation slowly settle
âIs this?â
You nodded âUh-huh.â
Carmy unpacked it from the wrapping and held it against himself. âWe stopped for less than ten secondsâ he thought to himself as he unfolded the jacket.
âHow did you know?â His blue eyes met yours, a curious expression on his face.
âI saw you looking. Remember a few months ago?â The way you said it is was as if it was obvious.
Heâd never felt important enough for his sideways glances, one off comments and quick observations to be picked up on. For you to pick up on itâŠit made him feel special, loved even.
She does not love you, motherfucker. Youâre delusional.
It was on one occasion when youâd wandered through the city together in fall. It was in the window of a vintage shop. Heâd commented on it, off-hand, that heâd always liked a jacket like that. Youâd tried to talk him in to going in and trying it on. It looked like it would be his size but heâd brushed it off in a âdonât matterâ type way.
âYeah I went back that afternoon. Try it on! We can go for a Christmas walk later. Maybe in the park? I had it dry cleaned tooâ
Carmy didnât say much for fear youâd think he was crazy or overreacting âThank youâ
You nodded âAnd Iâve ordered you a bookshelf, itâs only an Ikea one but your cook books are on the floor. Trust me, youâll thank me.â you noted and suddenly Carmy felt himself relax again and laugh as he passed you over your present for fear he might actually cry from how lovely you were if things didnât move on.
âIs this the soundtrack?â
You asked as you immediately unwrapped the vinyl, slid it out, squealing when you saw the limited run pressing. It was from one of your favourite 80s movies. âThis is amazing, the pressing is beautiful! Thank you.â
âYeah I watched itâŠ.Good movie. I, um, found it in a second hand store. figured youâdâŠlike it.â He averted his eyes from yours, shyly. He left out that it was an online store and heâd spent four hours in an auction before just emailing the seller privately and telling him heâd double whatever the other guy was offering.
âYou watched something else other than the cooking channel?â You joked in return, sensing he felt a little awkward about it and wanting to lighten the mood.
âYeah wellâŠâ he looked down and back up, hands through his hair again. âIâŠwanted to do something nice causeâŠyouâre alwaysâŠyouâre good to meâ
Your eyes didnât leave him for a second.
Sheâs just grateful. Sheâs just your friend.
âNothing less than what you deserveâŠbut thank you. Merry Christmas, Carmyâ You leant in and kissed his cheek, only an inch or so from where he wished youâd kiss him.
After you finished your deli breakfast, youâd go for the promised walk in the park, and Carmy wondered if in some other universe, you were doing the same thing but hand in hand rather than side by side. You walked longer than youâd planned and he found himself talking more about that Christmas. Of course you were understanding, non-judgemental and Carmy opened up to you more than heâd ever opened up to anyone; about how he chased a culinary career after Mikey refused to let him work in the family restaurant, the constant panic attacks he had over the current restaurant he worked at and the retaining of three stars that the Head Chef had still found fault with him over and about how sometimes he missed Copenhagen and longed for those days on the houseboat with an imaginary cat and as he usually did with you, he felt lighter.
When you returned back, you collapsed onto the sofa, warm despite the cold air and gestured for him to sit with you
âPut it on one of those cooking shows and tell me how youâd make it betterâ
You tossed him the remote.
Without saying anything, he turned it on, sat beside you and listened to the sounds of the contestants completing a Christmas Dinner challenge filled the air.
To himself, Carmy wondered if this was the best Christmas heâd had in years, maybe in his adult life.
He knew the answer already.
âââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
BOTH
It had been several weeks since youâd seen either of them. Luca, he was now back in Copenhagen and Carmen had left for Chicago, having inherited his brothers restaurant, following his suicide.
God, Mikey.
Youâd spent four days with Carmy in the immediate aftermath, mostly in silence, making sure he took care of himself. Occasionally heâd share something about Mikey which surprised him more than it surprised you. When it had come to it, youâd asked him if he wanted you to go to the funeral with him as support but heâd refused.
âDonât wanna put you through my fucking familyâ heâd said. You knew it was an excuse but now was not the time to push.
Heâd left for Chicago but told you three days later, he didnât go in, expecting you to tell him he was pathetic, cruel even, but youâd asked why and then, as you always did, just listened.
****
Youâd been in touch with them both over FaceTimes and texts like any other time but this felt different.
Carmy, youâd call when he was on random lunch breaks scattered through the day whenever he had the chance. By the time, his shift was over, heâd be too tired and collapse so you scheduled them as you could. You knew he was trying to work on his late brothers restaurant but knew it was shaping up to be a huge task. Heâd been going to the Al-Anon meetings and had been trying but it was you who helped most even when you werenât there.
He thought about you, when he was anxious about the restaurant, stressed about everything and when he couldnât cope with thinking about how fucked it was that Mikey, who wouldnât let him work in his restaurant, had fucking left it to him.
Carmy knew he had to tell you how he felt, maybe he could ask you to come out and tell you how he felt. He opened his phone, typed out a message to you and hit send and then promptly locked his phone in his locker and unsuccessfully tried not to think about it.
****
Luca youâd call at night. It reminded you of when you were both kids and youâd stay up late talking on the phone, whispering and giggling until your parents would tell you to get off the phone. You still made him laugh now as youâd relay some horrible mistranslation at work and try to make him guess what it said and what was meant.
God he missed you, every little thing about you. All he could think, despite having his dream job and living in a beautiful city was how he wanted you.
You were the one consistent relationship he had. Other people had come and gone but youâd been there since the beginning, seen him at his best, his worst and everything inbetween and he didnât think he could have done it without you. He couldnât lose you.
Luca unlocked his phone, wrote a message to you and clicked it shut before the read receipt could come up.

DECISION TIME
Messages (2)
Luca - âPlease come back to Copenhagen, Iâm going crazy. Itâs not the same without youâ
Carmy - âHey, do you maybe wanna come out to Chicago again? Wanna see you soon?â
âThat the two guys that are in love with you?â Your friend said âRight on time.â
Youâd just been discussing your relationship with both of them and sheâd been so insistent they were both in love with you. A part of you knew but didnât want to acknowledge it.
âLetâs see your boyfriends.â Your friend pushed
âTheyâre not my boyfriendsâ You protested.
âOkay fine. Please let me see the two men competing for you.â
âFucking hell, theyâre not competing for meâ Your eyes rolled, as you chucked your unlocked phone at her. âYou make it sound like Iâm⊠Bridget Jones or Bella Swan or somethingâ
âI mean⊠you kinda are, honey.â she flicked through your phone finding a picture of Luca. âWait. THATS Luca, your school friend Luca? When did that happen?â She zoomed in âWhen did he get hot? -And tall! What is he now likeâŠ6â3â?â
âOf course itâs the same Luca.â You muttered. âYou think Iâve been travelling about with some other Luca?â
You paused âAnd Luca has always been hot.â
Youd always noticed his soft blonde hair, perfectly proportioned nose and lips and gentle eyes. Heâd grown taller, more muscled and gotten tattoos but heâd always been cute in your eyes.
âShow me the other guy!â She said excitedly and you rolled your eyes playfully, she was like a teenager sometimes.
âThree photos downâ
âHoly shit, heâs got gorgeous eyes.â She noted looking at a photo youâd taken with Carmy âimagine those big baby blues being hard to say no toâŠand nice biceps too⊠I bet he could bench press you.â She comments casually and nudges you. âOkay so theyâre both hot, so my plan of go for the hot one is out of the question.â She cocked her head.
âThatâs not helpful. I donât know what to do, theyâre both great, amazing guys.â
âWhich one do you want to bangâŠâ she looked at you âmost. Like if you could only sleep with one of them, which one.â
âReally, again, not helpful.âyou rolled your eyes and shoved her.
âOkay in all seriousness, put everything out of your mind,â she shushed you before you could protest. âYou know who you want, its obvious, just admit it to yourself and go be with himâ
You nodded. She was right. She always was
âI need you to drive me the airport.â
âââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
Choose: LUCA
Your friend grinned at you, as you tapped your card on the machine having bought a ticket on the next flight out and watched as the airport worker wrapped a luggage tag around yours, sending your suitcase off.
âI knew it.â She shook her head âI mean Iâm one for a slow burn romance you know me. âBut years?â
One of her eyebrows raised âI would say text me when you land but youâll probably be too busyâŠâ she sighed and gave you a loaded look âGod, youâre so luckyâŠâ
âFuck offâ you gave her a shove and then pulling her back for a hug you nodded. âIâll text you in a few days.â
You sent a text to Luca- âI know, I miss you⊠youâll see me soon.â and then a picture of your passport.
****
There he was waiting for you as you arrived. You hadnât expected it but of course he had.
You couldnât stop yourself from running over to him and he, without care that you were at the arrivals gate, in an international airport, wrapped his arms around you, leant down, tilted your head up and gave you a long, lingering kiss that was years of âI love yousâ, years of kisses, years of yearning, years of shared jokes and memories and years of being just you and Luca wrapped up in one kiss.
He could feel his heart beating like it might explode at any minute. Heâd resolved himself to just fucking kiss you the next time he saw you. Your response to his message plus how youâd ran to him had confirmed in that very moment that he had to. And here you were, kissing him back.
âI love you.â He said against your mouth, instead of a hello, words whispered so only you could hear them. âI love you. I should have told you sooner. I love you.â
You let go of your case, moving your hand to toy with the hair at the back of his neck, standing on tip-toes to close the gap in height.
âHiâŠI love youâ you whispered, laughing as he placed his forehead on yours âI hope you havenât been waiting long.â
âYears, give or take,â Luca gave you an honest look that made you jokingly roll your eyes.
âI meant at the airport.â
He laughed. âWent it quick when I was trying to convince myself that Iâd gotten the right idea from your textâ
An eyebrow raise from you told him all he needed to know and he kissed you once again
âDefinitely no wrong idea. Why do you think I got on the first flight outâ
You said breathlessly against his lips before pulling him down for another kiss. His hair was ever so slightly longer, pushed back with a black hairband. Heâd worn it like that the first time youâd gone to Chicago with him, heâd left the hairband in after a shift once and youâd commented on how much it suited him.
âI love you so much.â You said to him againz
Realising a large group of tourists had now begun to stare, you separated. Awkwardly he held up a hand and muttered something to them with a wave causing you to burst into laughter.
âDid you just say âWelcome to Copenhagen I hope you enjoy your stayâ to the nice group of tourists?â
âHow did you know which flight Iâd be on?â You said linking your fingers with Lucaâs as he picked up your suitcase in the other arm and began walking. It felt so natural to be holding his hand after all this time.
âYou always like the mid-morning flight. Remember I booked us on the six am to Venice and I thought you were going to push me out the planeâ
You laughed so loudly the large group looked back around causing it to be your turn to hold your hand up in apology.
âYeah I might have done if you werenât carrying the passports. Now I think Iâm ready for you to take me homeâ you leant into his side.
****
âFucking hell.â You whispered half to him, half to yourself. âLuca, that wasâŠâ
Any worry about crossing that line was gone, it had been gone when heâd picked you up with one arm, as you entered the place youâd shared in Nyhavn. Mouths mashing together, his teeth pulling on your lip, a whisper ask of âare you sureâ as he slid his hand under your shirt, you answering him by sucking on his neck as he held you against him, your legs around his waist
The sudden romantic moment became funny when heâd paused in the hallway and asked âMy room or yours?â but youâd never have it any other way.
Luca had been gentle at first, careful. Took his time with you. Laid you down and finished you off with his hands and his mouth, and you were back flat against the mattress, aching for him to fill you. So had reached up and cupped his face, locking your ankles at the base of his back and told him you needed him desperately, that you wouldnât break. Luca had moaned into you at your encouragement which had only made you ache more. And after heâd let the years of want lead and take over, taking you hard and fast, giving you the best night youâd ever had and drawing another climax from you until you dropped back down on the bed back splayed and hips arched for him to finish deep inside you.
**
âI know. Been thinking about us doing that for a while nowâŠYou okay?â He linked your hand with his, without looking. He was still over you, caging you against him.
âYou thought about that?â You gently played with his hair.
âAll the timeâ he said casually. âBoth that and thisâ
He was resting on your chest now, planting small kisses across your collarbone, gentle and loving. You felt yourself flush both at the casual sexiness of his statement followed by how sweetly he checked in.
âLuca, talking like that makes me want you again.â
Luca grinned with a sly look on his face âYou can have me whenever you like.â He rubbed your hip and squeezed, a silent push to answer the âyou okay?â
âIâm better than okay.â You ran a hand through his hair playing with the soft waves âare you?â
âJust got all I wanted.â Another kiss to your lips, slowly and sweetly. âIâm on cloud fucking nineâ
âIt was killing me.â He said quietly after a few moments, drawing patterns over your skin making goosebumps break out ââŠI know I had no right to be jealous, we werenât together, I think to me, it felt like we were,â
A small sigh escaped his lips, the breath fluttering against your skin. Heâd had a point. Looking back, it had sometimes felt like you were together.
âI saved the time difference in my phone and drove myself crazy when it was night over thereâŠI convinced myself you two wereâŠâ he stopped.
âLuca, I promise you nothing ever happened, baby, heâs my friendâŠbut youâre everything to me.â
He lifted his head up to look at you âGoodâ he said before kissing you on the lips, spare hand coming up to cup your cheek. âYouâre the love of my life, you know,â he kissed you again âall thisâŠwouldnât be the same without you,â
âYouâd still have made itâŠâ you kissed him
âMaybe.â Luca kissed you again âbut it wouldnât be the same without you. Youâve seen me at my worst, at my bestâŠand yet youâre still hereâ he whispered into your neck.
âAlways gonna be here babe, itâs you and me,â you traced hands down over his chest.
âYouâre the love of my life, darling. You always have beenâ Luca looked at you with a gaze so full of love it made your heart ache.
âAnd you mineâ you pushed your hands into his hair and placed open mouth kisses against his mouth. âYouâre so perfect Luca. So, so perfectâ
*
The next morning toys wrote him a new message âJeg elsker digâ the day after which he stuck just above his work station. One you wish youâd written for him all those years ago. âI love youâ
A part of you always knew you did. From when you were teenage best friends, to now, you loved him. Being with Luca now after all this time, was like finally seeing clearly.
Youâd make up for all the lost time.
âââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
Choose: CARMY
You tapped to send a heart over the message Carmy had sent you, knowing heâd be eating himself up if you didnât reply
âMiss you, CarmâŠIâll see you soon I promiseâ You texted back, hoping he was working and it would be enough to stop him going crazy until you landed.
Your friend walked you to security and squeezed your hand. âI knew you liked himâŠevery time you spoke about him, you got allâŠâ she jokes âIâve never seen you like that.â She said as she hugged you goodbye âGo get your man!â
****
You hadnât told him you were coming, wanting to surprise him. Heâd given you the address of the restaurant and now as you stood outside the door, you exhaled, taking a breath before you entered.
A pretty blonde woman smiled at you as you did
âHi! Iâm looking for Carmen Berzatto.â You said returning her polite smile
âAre you [Name?] Iâm Natalie. Iâm Carmyâs sisterâ
That surprised you âHe mentioned me?â
âI got it out of him eventually. You know what heâs likeâ She then walked to the door leading to the kitchen and stuck her head through âCarmy. Youâve got a visitorâ
âIf itâs the butter delivery, jusâ sign for it, Sugar, ok?â He sounded frazzled despite it being only the morning.
âItâs not the butter delivery! Itâs your girl.â She said clearly not in the mood for messing around.
There was all of a sudden a flurry of voices.
âA girl? For Carmy?â You heard a mans surprise.
âIs it the girl on his phone.â A woman asked
âJeffâs got a girl?â another woman spoke.
âLet me see.â There was shuffling around and then another man spoke âHow the fucks he done that?â
âCousin, gimme the fuckinâ phone.â You couldnât help but smile as you heard him, hearing him in person made your heart swell. âHowâd you get my passwordâ
âYour passwords 1111, Carmen.â
âIâd say itâs not always this chaoticâŠâ Natalie started turning back to you âbut it is.â
Before you could respond you were cut off him, your Carmy, emerging from the doorway. He looked so gorgeous.
Wavy hair that heâd clearly been running his hands through, big blue eyes, strong arms under one of those white shirts and little gold chain peeking out.
âSugar- what is theâŠâ Carmy stopped seeing you.
âHi.â His face softened within a second of seeing you although the fear of rejection still lingered in his mind. Why were you here?
He turned back to shout into the kitchen âAlrightâŠgimme, gimme like five minutes okay?â Carmy ushered his sister into the kitchen so you could speak freely
âWhy didnt you call me? Iâd have picked you up at the airport.â he ran a hand through his hair.
âIâm sorryâŠI wanted to surprise youâ you gave him a small smile âCarmyâ you spoke as if you know exactly whatâs on his mind âI want thisâŠI wanna be with you, like properly be with you.â You paused âAnd I think you want that tooâ
Carmy could barely believe it, you in his restaurant, in his home city, surprising him and telling him you wanted to be with him? âCourse I do.â He answered quickly âFuck was I obvious?â
âBeing that it took me this long to realise it, I donât think so.â
âSâalright, I just feel like Iâve gone crazyâ Carmen choked out a laugh, still overcome with emotion that you were here. âI thoughtâŠâ
âI thought by âsee you soonâ you meant that in weeks or months from now, youâd visit. I thought youâd go to Luca, your gorgeous, tall, charming childhood friend in one of the most beautiful cities in the world who has it all together. Not me, the fucking colossal fuck up. Surely heâd be your first choiceâ
His hand ran through his hair again and came to rest over his lips, expecting you to say what was I thinking Iâve changed my mind, see ya.
You took his hand and let him link his fingers with yours, knowing he had a habit of fidgeting with his hands when he was nervous.
âCarmy, Iâm serious, this is me choosing you. Over anything, anyone elseâ
âHow the fuck do you do that.â He blinked âSometimes I feel likeâŠlike youâre in my head, or somethinââ
He liked it, he didnât feel like his heart was going beat out of his chest around you. He could actually breathe and think with you around. Seeing you, here, in his home city, with himâŠhe felt at ease for once, all the worries, all the stress he carried around, felt lighter. It was like you, just by being you, could turn down the sound in his head.
âCause I know you.â You smiled softly âAnd I wanna make you happy. You gonna let me make you happy babe?â
He didnât know how to finish the sentence but with the reassurance, the knowing that youâd wanted him, that youâd chosen him, he felt a surge of confidence and he cupped your face with both hands before he dropped one to your waist holding you against him and the other moved back through your hair pulling your lips to his, connecting the two of you in a passionate, messy kiss. You could feel his taut muscles, toned and firm under his shirt and holding you tight to him easily.
Heâd make his excuses and finish early. Richie absolutely revelled in making fun of him for leaving to go get some, telling him maybe itâll make him less pissy and Sugar was just happy to see Carmy happy again, sheâd worried about him but the moment heâd laid eyes on you was the first time sheâd seen him smile in weeks.
****
âSo fuckinâ amazing.â He said breathlessly, whispering kisses against your neck later that evening âdidnât hurt you did I?â He met your eyes instantly concerned.
âNo baby, I loved itâ you laughed a little, you were still straddling him, legs either side of him, catching your breath as you played with his wavy hair and planted little kisses on him. âYouâre the amazing one, so good babyâ
Carmy had barely been able to keep his hands off you since you arrived back at his.
Heâd been straight over to you, kissing you, sliding his hands up under your shirt, like he thought youâd disappear or like he wanted to touch you as much as he could incase you changed your mind.
Youâd returned his kisses with equal intensity, until youâd ended up in a tangle on the couch. both your shirts discarded and jeans half unbuttoned, with your hands half down each others, touching each other, taking turns drawing moans from the other.
âJust want youâ you whispered against his ear. âOnly you, Carmyâ
You shifted up so had your legs either side of him straddling his waist, when you could feel him under your own heat, hard against you and ground your hips into him, telling him how much you needed him.
He couldnât wait any longer and shuffled off his jeans and yours, pulling you down to straddle him. After a few more, rotations of your hips, you slid down on to him, biting his shoulder as he stretched you. You went slow at first, teasing him and savouring the sounds he made, with every rotation of your hips. After a few blissful moments, Carmyâs hands found your hips and after a careful look for approval from him, he began moving you up and down at a fast pace, drawing cries of pleasure from you until he came deep inside you after youâd reached your high.
****
âDonât move yet.â He whispered quietly as if admitting the need for closeness with you would make you disappear, as his hands went to your hips, holding them flush against his own. Despite the firmness of the words, there was still some vulnerability there.
âIâm not going anywhere, you wanna stay like this we can stay like this,â you rubbed your hands over his broad shoulders, still unable to get over how toned his body is.
He rested his head on your shoulder, kissing at your collarbone. âIâm so fuckinââŠâ he paused and wondered if it was inappropriate to tell someone youre in love them in the immediate aftermath of sex. He wouldnât know, youâre the first person heâs said it to but he couldnât stop himself. âIâm fuckinâ in love with you.â He said into your neck.
âCarmen.â You said, the use of his full name making his gaze shoot up to your eyes. For a second he wondered if heâd done something wrong. He was staring at you, those big blue eyes you loved so much, looking at you with pure love.
âHeyâŠitâs okayâŠâ you kissed him softly, slowly, touching his face in the most tender way, thumb gracing over his cheekbone âI love you too.â
As he exhaled, dropping his forehead to yours, he was for the first time in a long time, not just content but happy.

late night talking | carmen berzatto x reader
a semi smutty blurb of him taking care of you (specifically your hair) after turning you into a mess đ«¶đ»
figured iâd just put this out short then letting it live in my drafts forever :â) no real reader description outside of having a non-protective hairstyle thatâs able to be braided
also mentions of hickies & piv intercourse!! otherwise itâs just him being nurturing and also mentioning kids.
carmen berzatto loves to have his fingers in your hair. heâll rub your head while the two of you fall asleep at night. always brushes stray pieces out of your face. he holds your head in place while he fucks your throat. balls his fist around a handful while you ride him so he can pull your head back and leave a mess of hickies covering your neck. one time he got carried away while you were rolling your hips down onto him and bit down on your skin a little too hard. it left a mark for almost two weeks - a mark he'd lick and kiss to soothe every time he saw it.
on his rare days off he barely lets you get out of bed. if you two aren't tangled together then keeping you flush against his side while the two of you talk about life and the future and what shitty tv show you're both hooked on at that time.
all this to say - he leaves your hair a mess. it's everywhere by the time he's done with you. tangled and ratted and sweaty.
he sits down on the sofa and makes you sit in between his legs after one particularly intimate night. laughing as he realizes just what a mess he's made of you. he's got a bottle of detangler and a comb, making gentle work of combing out your hair while that same shitty tv show you talked about earlier plays in the background. he's so careful not to tug it too hard, smoothing it down as he goes.
it doesn't take long to get you back into shape and carmen finishes it off by doing a braid that sugar spent weeks teaching him how to do while they were growing up. he's got you taken care of now.
he pulls you up, sinking back into the couch as he keeps your frame close to his. warm and comforting. he'll always take care of you.
you keep the braid in throughout the day. he teasingly pulls on it randomly, tugging your head back to give you a kiss whenever heâs behind you. your hair being out of the way gives him better access to your neck which he fully takes advantage of while dinnerâs in the oven that night.
he likes marking you up. careful to leave them just low enough where they will hide under your shirts but theyâre there and youâre his.
late that night the two of you are spent and carmen practically has to drag you to the bathroom. offering a bribe of taking you to your favorite coffee shop in the morning and a walk through streeterville so you could get a good view of the lake.
he helps you undress and chucks both of your clothes into the overflowing laundry hamper. a chore that was long forgotten today.
then one of his favorite acts of service - washing your hair. fingers working the product into your scalp and carefully rinsing it out. thereâs something about the way you just look so content and at peace that does it for him. you always return the favor and find satisfaction in knowing you got him to stop using that god awful ten-in-one product and into real shampoo and conditioner.
heâll rebraid your hair before bed if you want him to and heâs been getting better at it. you wonder if youâll have daughters one day. they wonât know how lucky they are to have a dad actually capable of taking care of their hair but you know carmen will do it with a smile. always taking care of his girls.
you share the idea with him and thereâs a dreamy smile being thrown your way in the mirror as you look at the reflection of you two together. his hands slide around middle and now heâs dragging you back to bed to get started making that dream a reality.

ok but on a very real and very serious note...
carmen's first valentine's day with you.
i'm going to share some thoughts, feel free to add:
carmen has always hated valentine's day since he was in elementary school. he hated the everyone make a valentine thing because people would go out of their way to be an asshole and not give him one.
he bought one of those flower-grams in middle school to give to the girl he had a crush on, and she didn't even acknowledge it and he was so embarrassed he never did it again.
carmen hates valentine's day. has always worked on every valentine's day because he would rather and he's never had a serious relationship.
until this year with you.
it's new-ish. one of the bigger milestones. and he's torn. does he do something? does he not?
"are you out of your mind? yes, carmen, you do something on valentine's day." sugar scoffs like it's obvious.
"yeah... you should definitely do something." sydney adds.
but what? what does one do? carmen's not sure.
"just take her somewhere nice. get her some flowers, a little somethin'- not too much, though, alright? you gotta be able to top it, so don't hit your peak. just somethin' small." richie tells him.
so carmen makes some calls, gets reservations, asks you out- you agree, of course, and for once, carmen berzatto has valentine's day plans.
he buys you a tiffany necklace, which makes both sugar and richie a little confused.
"i said small, cousin."
"no, it is. it is. it's just, it's just like a normal one. no diamonds." carmen is now very nervous because, fuck, he thought it was a good gift!!! "the sales lady said it would be perfect. that-that she'd like it."
"she's not wrong." sugar shrugs. "she will like it, it's just... y'know."
"it's a lot? fuck, it's a lot."
"she'll like it, carmen." sugar tries to stop his spiral. "promise, she'll like it."
and you do. you love it, squeal and gasp over it, give carmen the biggest hug and kiss in the restaurant. he's blushing under the low light in the booth.
"i feel... i got you something, but-but it's not like this..." you're a little embarrassed and suddenly carmen's heart is racing because he didn't even think about you getting him something??? now he looks like a jagoff trying to show off.
"you didn't- you really didn't have to get me anything."
"no, but i wanted to." you smile, reaching for your own little bag. "it's just... it's not a lot. not like this."
and to carmen, it's better. a little 'emergency kit', you'd called it. first aid, deodorant, note pads, a little pocket agenda, sharpies- so many sharpies. carmen had been complaining about always forgetting things in the office, so consumed with the kitchen, and you'd listened. you'd heard him, and remembered it, and put this together for him. in a cutesy little tackle box, decorated with fruit and vegetable stickers he found adorable.
"wow," carmen is swallowing back tears. "this is..."
"i'm sorry." you cringe. "i didn't- i should've got you a real gift-"
"-what? no, no this is." carmen nods, looking up at you. "you remembered."
you blink at him. "well, yeah. you said you were always forgetting and-and i figured it would be useful-"
"-it is. it's... thank you." carmen beams, the wave of emotions that hit him startle him a little, make him a little unsure. "thank you for this." then he's leaning in to kiss you, cradling your jaw in the dark lit restaurant.
as you're sharing your meal, pressed side by side, giggling and whispering to each other sweetly, a wave of clarity washes over carmen. he kinda gets the hype around valentine's day, for once.

đžïžđ€ Promptober Day 21 - Spiked Cider đ€đžïž
Promptober schedule here !
| cw; all fluff, gn reader
| wc; 321
dividers by @strangergraphics
You could barely think clearly, whether the spiked cranberry âbloodâ in your cup or the fog around the room both Richie and Fak had insisted upon, you werenât sure. Probably both.
You were following her around like a lost puppy, gaze darting between the white lace draped over her chest, the feather soft wings around her shoulders, and the glittery white eyeshadow you didnât even know could glow like that.
You walked over as she got done talking to Syd, hoping sheâd let you get her a drink or just ask her how her night was going.
âYou feelinâ okay, angel?â Maybe you were a touch more tipsy than youâd thought, almost tripping over your own feet as you came over. Angel. You should be the one calling her that, costume or not.
âIâm okay, just wanted to say you look pretty.â You gave up so easily it was laughable, completely disregarding the script youâd made in your head earlier. She tilted her head like she was thinking of asking you something before you leaned over the counter.
âYouâre such a sweetheart. Why donât we find somewhere for you to lay down, hm?â You werenât quite ready for the night to end but standing up was harder than it should be at this point, letting her take your hand and lead you into a quieter room.
You were comfier than youâd surely ever been lying in the guest room of some Fakâs house, resting your head against her chest after you all but begged her to stay with you. She didnât seem to need much convincing, happy enough to be away from all the party fuss for a few moments.
It wasnât exactly the romantic setting you had in mind but youâd take it, looking up to ask her out to âdinner sometimeâ, evident grin on your face when she responded with a soft laugh.
âAsk me again when youâre sober.â

28 with Carmy I beg
#28 LOW by sza. (carmen berzatto)
đđ§đ merry spotify wrapped!! join in my music mini blurb event, submissions closing tonight!
NSFW 18+. smut!! workplace relationship, workplace sex
no one needs to know. not sydney, or fak, or tina, or sugar. and certainly not richie. they don't have to know how he fucks the pretty young waitress between shifts, fingers digging into your soft hips when he lifts your skirt to release his pent up frustrations.
you try to stay quiet, his cock drilling deep inside you, hips banging against his desk with every stroke. he coos to you, "shh, atta girl. takin' it so well huh? you close?" large hands massage the plush of your hips, winding that red hot coil inside you just a little bit tighter.
you whine, the sound morphing into a choked out moan as you nod. "please carmy, please, carmycarmycarmy," you babble out, shoving your fist in your mouth as you cum around him. the walls are thin, you know. it's hard to keep a secret in here.

Omg omg were her like unexpected scary dog privilege gf and buy a big softie like a rottweiler (idk why I'm mentioning a type of dog breed I am a nerd and work with dogs so I thought of them of how scary they seem but they're not) and what about how you're not like that with anyone else but sugar brings out a different side to you that no one has ever seen, but ur such a simp for her and Richie makes fun of it but shuts up when sugar calls him out and he does that đ face and walks away. Carmy tries to shout at you sometimes and Sugar randomly pops up and has a hand on her hips and is like "bear, no." In a stern tone that no one wants to hear from her. Syd sometimes joking makes a comment of how you such a simp for her (maybe everyone is stressed and just going at each other) and u shrug, not really too hurt by her comment as it's true and sugar pops up and is like "Syd."
She's always there đ„ș (Pete is lovely but I'm taking ur girl) and in this au she's ours.
having an unmistakable crush on sugar from the moment you start at the restaurant and she knows about and uses it to her full advantage!
being her scary-dog-privilege (iâm projecting) going out with her when she needs to do pick ups and standing over her shoulder with a scowl to make sure nobody tries to fleece her!
youâre friendly with everyone in the kitchen but not a pushover, unless itâs sugar and then whatever that woman asks of you sheâs getting!
richie getting on your nerves about âsimpingâ (you want to kill whoever taught him that word) for sugar and being such a âsimpâ and sugar shuts it down because only she gets to tease you like that!
but when syd jokes that youâre a total simp for sugar you deny it once until you hear her calling your name and youâre turning on a dime in the direction of her voice. syd shakes her head but youâre shrugging because- whatâs the use in denying it!
sugar coming into the kitchen and not realising everyone is highly strung, getting snapped at for no reason by her brother or maybe richie and immediately scary-dog is back on. youâre walking her to carmyâs office before coming back and threatening to have their heads for speaking to her like that!
when you go with her for pickups, maybe she needed to pick up furniture? and she asked if youâd come too? so now youâre following her around the store with something heavy across your shoulders so she doesnât have to lift a finger!
losing sugar in the store when you went back to grab her something and by the time you find her again, sheâs being chat up by some bozo. newsflash asshole, sheâs only got room for one idiot in her life and youâre looking at them! so you pull your usual routine of manifesting over her shoulder and when she realises youâre there she gives a nice âthank you, sweetheart!â before completely forgetting about that doofus!
finding her in her car outside the restaurant, teary-eyed and youâre knocking on the window telling her to scooch over. you drive her home without a second thought and after you walk her inside you hear her quietly ask if she can tell you about her shitty day!
being sugarâs loser-husband type person and being so totally pussy-whipped for her and entirely okay with that because- look at her!
#im definitely projecting because im a head and shoulders taller than most women and naturally become scary dog privilege#but you can be small than shug and still hold the mantle itâs about character#i just need to be her stupid loser husband wife#natalie berzatto x reader#natalie berzatto blurb#natalie berzatto drabble#sugar berzatto x reader#sugar berzatto blurb#sugar berzatto drabble
