Calvarial Tuberculosis by Eleni Ischaki in International Journal of Clinical Images and Medical Reviews
A 19-year-old boy presented with status epilepticus. Computed tomography of the brain showed a big, multilobular mass, with peripheral oedema in the frontal lobe which was enhanced peripherally after intravenous administration of a contrast agent. The mass penetrated the frontal bone and extended subcutaneously. He immediately underwent right decompression craniectomy. An empyema was found and was drained. Microscopic examination of brain, dura mater and bone tissue specimens revealed a necrotizing granulomatous inflammation. Tissue cultures were positive for Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The patient received a 4-regimen antitubercular treatment combined with dexamethasone due to central nervous system penetration of the disease with complete response in the follow-up.

Countries where the medical industry NEVER bothers to hire technical artists
and it's ALWAYS just fucking improperly-angled photos taken in a public restroom in Silent Hill, UNLESS they got someone out of Plato's Fucking Cave who has never seen ITEMS before to try and fucking TRACE said photos:
United States
UK
Canada
India
The implication is clear: the UK hates technical artists specializing in the medical field and so systematically eliminated them in all their colonies, ironically dooming all English speakers to die of some kind of misapplied ointment accident. This will happen by 2046. We're fucked.
#knowing japanese is useful because i can often look up the object/procedure/ailment in japanese and find a clear illustration#a byproduct of the post-korean-war export manufacturing boom? ready supply of artists due to manga/anime industry burnout?#regardless: thanks for drawing my subcutaneous lesions for me. appreciate that.#medical cw

Uuuuugh, I hate the auto-injectors most biologics use these days. I just gave myself my first dose of Dupixent, and despite following the directions exactly I lost a good chunk of it because the auto-injector didn't work. Is this just catering to the needlephobes or is there some medical reason these are so popular? I would vastly prefer a syringe or a combo thing where the needle is out in the open and you can put it in at your speed, then press the button to inject, a la Ozempic. Not only is it less prone to error, it's much less painful. Who likes having the needle shot into their skin at a million miles an hour??
Anyway. My expectations for this are somewhere south of hell, given how spectacularly everything else we've tried has failed, but I suppose at least this is coming at the sinus problem from a new angle. Apparently this particular biologic is also used for eczema, so maybe as a bonus it will fix the random rashes that have popped up with greater and lesser regularity since I was a child. They don't really look like eczema, but they do go away when I'm on steroids, so I assume it's an immune thing.
Oh, and last time I saw him, my ENT said that if my ear doesn't unplug, then he could put a tube in my eardrum, and it would help some... He seemed less than enthusiastic, but I'm enthusiastic. I want to hear things on my right side, dammit.
#this is the seventh medication I've had to inject into myself (it took a few tries to get the right biologic for my AS)#I have become a connoisseur of subcutaneous medication delivery methods#for the record if it can't be the open needle like Ozempic I at least prefer the push button like Humira#chronic illness

tbh saiki is kind of the opposite of a med student. he thinks muscles of the human body are gross and disturbing. he has a strong disgust reaction for someone who is constantly seeing people skinless.

i think i’m going to have to start locking ricky in my bedroom closet while doing my t shot because he knows how to open the main bedroom door and the bathroom door so if i close him out he still busts down the door and i just had to like run around my room doing different steps of my shot because he was chasing me around whenever i moved and luckily he didn’t touch anything but like bro you will die if you touch this juice and that’s a needle

Quick Tips for Injections
According to Stealth Bros & Co, provider of luxury medical storage options for transmasculine folks, “...going slow isn’t the answer [to a painless injection]. To reduce pain inject fast at a 90 degree angle for IM [injections] and a 45 degree angle for SubQ”
I like to say “quick jab ain’t that bad; slow poke ain’t a joke”
