pov: 6000 years ago you were facing off against a war headed by a pearl and a lapis lazuli except it's not really a war yet it's just a little worker's rebellion and they're kind of fun so you were having a real ball killing their units and baiting them and trading barbs back and forth because these two gems are stupid for fucking real and blue diamond, who you have been tasked by your diamond (green) to watch over, thinks it's healthy to have a little rebellion so long as there is someone such as yourself to squash it, so you play pretend and even give yourself a name that isnt the exact same as all the other ones of you just like they have (the pearl calls herself tommy, the lapis calls herself wilbur, you, an emerald, now call yourself dream) and enjoy the game. except these freaks are actually growing in numbers now and start to fight back in a way that almost matters. which honestly makes it infinitely more interesting. so you spend like a thousand years fighting these losers who honestly aren't doing that great but still make it fun enough to not bore you to tears, but then the unthinkable happens. these jokers KILL blue diamond. wilbur specifically killed the person you were sworn to protect. because you were so caught up in fighting them that you let blue diamond completely slip your mind. and the other three diamonds decide to raze the earth, so you evacuate with the rest of them but that itch feels forever unscratched that YOU didn't catch tommy and wilbur. you mean pearl and lapis. and you leave dream behind and become emerald again for 5000 years. EXCEPT during these 5000 years you start to think... how the FUCK did tommy and wilbur kill BLUE DIAMOND? it's not like blue is especially strong, there's a reason green asked you to stick by her side, but the concept that a DIAMOND could be bested by a simple LAPIS? sure, they were quick on their feet, and that pearl could fight well enough, but wilbur especially was ASS at combat. he was just good at the other side of things. so how the hell did they? and sometime during that time, you realize they DIDNT. you dont know how, you dont know why, you dont know WHEN. but wilbur who was lapis was always blue diamond. and 5000 years after her "death", you have her son and closest friend trapped on a ship headed to homeworld and you tell them all that wilbur and tommy are both lying sons of bitches and you watch them all turn on the only one left. and then they escape, then niki gets in the last escape pod and doesnt wait for tommy to join them unbeknownst to the others. and you smile.
