Our Youth - Ep 6

I really liked how they were together, their first night - the whole vibe, the morning after, the conversation by the sea, the return home together, them going separate ways, Hirukawa's attempt to improve his life and Minase's pride in him. It was all theirs, and somehow so… ordinary? So good.

Yesterday I wrote that Hirukawa needs help and a way to get out ASAP, before he falls apart, or does something really destructive, or really stupid. Tbh, I didn't expect him to do all of the above. I also wrote that he is still a kid, and as if he keeps the self-fulfillment of two families on his shoulders - it turns out that in addition to being responsible for two families, he also feels responsible for his schoolmates. It's very painful - and so real - that none of the above responds to him in the same way. His mother doesn't take care of him, his father beats him, his schoolmate is silent and lets him take all the blame. Neither parents nor a friend would meet the definition of what it means to be a parent and a friend, what it means to be a close person. But that's ok, Hirukawa fulfills his filial and friendly duties for all of them. And then some 🙄

However, the only person who knows him, who believes in him, who knows all of his (not just selected) secrets, who offers him concrete help and words of support - Hirukawa ultimately doesn't choose this person and doesn'tt feel such an obligation towards him as towards others whom he doesn't even love. Because let's be honest, what Minase heard was that for Hirukawa their life together, going to school, finishing it, continuing to work on himself, on their relationship, is less important than his duty to his friend, who literally blamed him for his own decisions as his father does all the time. Minase watches Hirukawa and sees how he is treated by his father, by his mother, which certainly hurts him, which was visible from how upset he was seeing Hirukawa and his mother consciously and unconsciously playing a happy family, and how he almost spilled the beans, because it must have frustrated him so much. The fact that Hirukawa so seemingly easily crossed out his - and their shared - future for some idiot must have been devastating for Minase.

I watched with sadness Hirukawa's impulse to be "worthy" of Minase, to change, to become "better", being ruined by his self-destructive tendencies, low self-esteem and savior complex. Minase had been so happy just a moment ago, after their trip together, after their first time, after their conversation in the sea, watching Hirukawa's involvement in school. Seeing the "easiness" with which he crossed it all out for something completely irrelevant from Minase's point of view, rejecting Minase in the process, must have been a difficult experience for him. Because although in Hirukawa's belief he is "saving" Minase from himself, in reality he hurts Minase who thinks he is not worth fighting for. Something like this creates fear in Minase, that there will always be someone for whom Hirukawa will consider worthy of destroying his (and by extension Minase's) life. Minase's reaction, how first shocked, then defeated and hurt he is, rather than angry, shows that he might have such feelings, even subconsciously.

This also perfectly shows how "noble sacrifice", combined with low self-esteem, is destructive for everyone. Like thinking that since you are a "trash" anyway, why bother trying, that you don't deserve anything good in life, someone good in life, so it's better to let it go, instead of fighting for it. And it doesn't help anyone at all, it doesn't save anyone, and it actually causes pain and destruction. Because although in Hirukawa's opinion he is "saving" Minase from himself, in reality he hurts Minase who thinks he is not worth fighting for.

The worst thing is that Hirukawa is too young to understand himself and has no one around him to tell him that he is not responsible for the actions of other people, especially adults. And that adult problems are their problems that they themselves should solve. And I really can't even be mad at all of this, because I've literally seen situations like this in real life, I've seen people ruin their lives out of some sick sense of responsibility for people who are completely unworthy of it, who never paid back in the same way - or any good way, instead making things worse. I've seen people ruin their lives for people who are unworthy of it, who could live a good life with someone valuable, good for them. This is actually a very real life situation, which doesn't change the fact that it's still very frustrating, incomprehensible and painful. It's also a very realistically shown long-term effect of domestic violence and child abandonment. Contrary to what Hirukawa (and Minase) think, that somehow he can cope, that it is "fine", that he just have to endure it, that it is all under control... while it affects every aspect of his life.

•At first, it was really hard for him to come to the realisation that he had feelings for someone and even harder task to make you noticed it as he didn't know anything about flirting. So he started treating you "nicely", like not shouting at you or patiently helping when you didn't understand something, and he became a gentleman too as he carried your bag, opened doors for you and gave you his hoodie when it was cold. His behaviour did not go unnoticed by his crush who was waiting for him to finally confess but apparently, the "Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight" was a coward when it came to his feelings so you had to take matters into your own hands and confessed first. Eventhough, Bakugou was a bit annoyed by the fact that you beat him at it, he couldn't be mad with the results.

• Katsuki is a very attentive boyfriend. Even if he is doing something else, his attention is always on you. "You haven't eaten anything for two hours! Eat this goddam bar before I make you!" "Drink some water or you'll get deshydrated" "Take my jacket, you are shaking and your hands are cold"

• Even if he doesn't want to seem like he is worried, he really is very protective of you. He's worried that something bad may happen to you when you are away from him so he's always texting or calling just to check on you. It's not like he thinks you are not strong enough to survive, you sure are, but the fear of losing you is just too much for him to handle it. If you are fighting side by side, he is constantly making sure that you are ok and God forgive whoever is dumb enough to hurt you 😡🧨💥

• Definitely the jealous type. Don't get me wrong, he loves to show you off, especially when you are wearing something that makes your body look even hotter, and he usually walks with his arm around your shoulders or waist, smirking as the sense of pride invades his chest while noticing the others' jealousy. However, he does not enjoy when stupid extras think they could get with his s/o. He probably would appeared from behind them and put his hand on their shoulder activating his quirk and threatening to burn they if they don't leave you alone. Be prepared for a non stop kissing and cuddling session till he forget about it

•He is such a big baby that loves to put his head on your lap for you to stroke his hair while he happily falls asleep. Loves when you pepper his face with kisses, especially his nose and lips. He needs and demands his cuddles before and after classes or else he'll throw a tantrum and be on a bad mood all day. Also, he usually escapes during midnight to your bedroom to sleep with you; he loves to feel the warmth of you body and to leave a trail of kisses on your skin.

• You guys don't fight often but when you do, he shouts to try to get his point across and would probably say really harmful things but when he realises his mistake, he'll leave without a word and come back later more calmed and with a bag full of your favourites. Not matter how bad things are or how mad he is, he'll always come back to you cause he knows that anger fades away but you leaving him for good for something as trivial as a fight is not worth it

•He tries to be a better man and better heroe just for you because you deserve someone who can protect you and give you all the affection you deserve.

• He enjoy cooking with you and trying new recipes together.

• His nicknames for you: idiot, love, sweetheart and babe (and if you are shorter than him, he'll also call you shorty )

•He loves to spoil you. Are you craving chocolate and ice cream at 2AM? He's going to the nearest convenience store to get it for you. You wanted to go to the new cat cafe that just opened in town? He is making reservations for next Saturday. Liked that cute shoes that you saw the other day? He already bought it for you and will suprise you after class.

•So, in conclusion, being Bakugou's partner would be such a dream come true!

Hey Snake. I’ve deliberately tried to stay out of the recent drama with Piku_Niku, but it seems to be petering out now that you’ve apologized. So I just want to say something.

I don’t think you’re a terrible person. What you did was wrong, and you don’t need me to tell you that. But you have apologized. You are clearly remorseful. Past actions are in the past, and it seems you’ve mostly amended them. So Id just like to request you stop beating yourself up over it.

Those words are not who you are, nor do they have to be. You can work to improve, and I like to think you’ve set on trying. I’m proud of you for apologizing, and I imagine some others are to. Now you have to figure out how to be better.

I don’t know, honestly, I’m just worried about you Snake. I don’t want you to hate yourself. I don’t think you should hate yourself. You should be angry and disappointed, but wallowing like you seem to be isn’t helpful. This quarrel doesn’t have to be who you are, and you have already taken the first step to making that so.

Im sorry, this is probably incoherent. And you probably think you don’t deserve anyone to defend you. But… I care about you Snake, and I want you to be better. I want you to be okay. gotta love that people will scream about how people like me are abuse apologists and that we defend abusers and how lack of empathy instantly makes you evil but like all I wanna do is point out that a lot of abuse recovery 'help' is ableist as fuck

Like they say people with autism shouldn't be allowed to have kids cause 'they throw tantrums due to emotional dysregulation and they lack empathy and can only care for children in a clinical way' and I see way too many people attack the shit outta severely disabled siblings for having the gall to need a care taker and for 'forcing their sibling to take care of them! So evil' rather than get pissed off at the parents who ACTUALLY forced the able sibling to take care of them and didn't properly care for either and acting like the disabled sibling doesn't exist at all and that any abuse a person with a developmental or psychotic disorder suffers is 'justified not only is putting up with you hard but also your too stupid and delusional to be believed and your natural naivety and psychotic makes taking away your autonomy necessary!'

They kick people with BPD out of groups because they interpret symptoms of BPD in the most abusive way possible and out right state people with npd can't be abuse victims and kick them out of groups because 'they're the abusive ones' like uh they can be abusive but none of npd or bpd's listed symptoms translate directly to 'abusive asshole' y'all make a huge stink about how there is no such thing as a perfect victim and how your bad qualities such as having a short fuse doesn't negate that but when you see a person with a mental illness or developmental disability you freak out- what the hell happened to 'no such thing as a perfect victim'? Personality disorders are caused by trauma and are essentially a bunch of unhealthy coping mechanisms for it- but I forgot they're not allowed to heal like you guys because they are 'bad people'-

Wait didn't you guys say your parents/partners bad pasts and traumas don't justify their actions? Great then your trauma doesn't justify kicking people with mental disorders out of help groups unless they've actually done something beyond admitting they have a mental illness. Being a victim doesn't excuse being a dick. I'll also say if your high functioning being mentally ill or disabled it doesn't justify being a dick- I call out shit behavior that isn't being an abuse apologist or saying that you deserved to get hurt or that you weren't hurt. If your sibling was so disabled they needed extra attention or you where forced into a parental role your allowed to be angry and shit and to say 'im not gonna be held responsible for someone else, it's my life the system or my parents can figure it out' - cool your establishing healthy boundaries but as soon as you start demonizing them for needing that care I'm gonna call you out- you don't have to take of them but for the love of God don't go around demonizing other disabled people

Also start calling narcissistic abuse, emotional abuse- a lot of people who engage in so called 'narcissistic abuse' are actually not narcissistic or cluster b- heck a lot of them are neurotypical and not mentally handicapped or ill in the slightest.

Stop demonizing personality disorders

Listen to people with psychotic disorders and developmental disabilities

Stop saying people with severe cognitive disabilities can't develop trauma or be depressed or that narcissists don't have feelings etc

I've spent the better part of the day playing the new Genshin update and am in a good mood so I've decided it's time for me to tackle the London section of Detective Conan.

As I've said on an earlier post, I am looking forwards to aspects such as Shinichi's pure enjoyment about being in London but there are others that I am not *cough* the "confession" *cough*

Honestly, why are they surprised that "Conan" can speak English. His name is very much English in nature, most people would assume that he has an English parent or was raised in America/England.

But it's very cute that Shinichi did not miss an opportunity to go visit the home of his hero!

I genuinely can't believe his parents have never taken their son to London... it almost seems cruel considering they love to travel and it's clear their son would adore to visit such a location...

And you'd think that with all the connections Yuusaku has, he could have gotten his son and Ai a passport to help make their identities real and give them the chance to travel. But judging from how they've also never taken their son to LONDON I think it's pretty clear they don't give much of a damn.

It's also so Gosho can force what happens.

Ai is incredibly kind however, to give Shinichi the chance to go to London despite the risks.

Oh this also makes me incredibly sad because Ran shouldn't spend her money on Shinichi who knows he'll be coming to London, she should get souveniers for herself. Shinichi as Conan could have said he'd get them.

I'm honestly so disgusted that it took a half-hearted "confession" that he only did because Ran was in so much pain caused by his actions for her to forgive his behaviour. Fuck Gosho and fuck how he writes Ran.

"This is the name of a story Shinichi told me about before" and it's a flashback of her getting mad at him and then complaining about him enjoying Holmes.

"Why hasn't the killer been arrested yet?" because the police suck!

Ran doesn't even want to see Shinichi after his great "confession" how telling.

Ran just assaults the man instead of asking kindly for him to roll up his pant legs... She and Shinichi are really competing for who is the most unlikable in these episodes.

Ignoring a threat? Sounds like the police here. Unless that threat is someone who isn't white and british and usually they're not a threat.

I can understand why the English are speaking slow for the sake of Japanese watchers but it really reminds me of children learning shows and is throwing me off a little XD

Shinichi shouting out in the crowd was adorable. He's redeemed himself a little from this clusterfuck of a set of episodes.

And of course his parents already know but are just leaving it all to their young son because all parents in dcmk are SHIT. Don't forget that. "But Foxy, it's more entertaining for the MC to save the day" it is but the price of that is him having extremely terrible parents.

Okay but Gosho does realize how bad this is right? Comparing Ran and Shinichi's relationship with Ares and Minerva. Minerva said that she doesn't want Ares to hold back from what he loves meanwhile Shinichi is constantly holding Ran back and making her wait for him. He does see the difference, right.

What Shinichi did wasn't a confession. He told her she was trouble and then said how could he understand the heart of the girl he likes. MAYBE RECOGNIZE SHE IS EXTREMELY HURT AND DISTRESSED AND YOU'RE THE REASON WHY! It's a terrible confession and I am totally writing Ran rejecting it.

And Ai knows Shinichi is an idiot.

I wonder how Gaon and Yohan are going to explain the change in their interactions to Elijah, since it's going to be obvious to her that something has happened between them. Since Elijah knows that there's nothing between Gaon and Soo hyun, I wonder if she will play a role in clearing Yohan's misconception? Thanks for the update! I can't stop thinking how many ways this story can play out😅 Btw i really appreciate the time and effort you put into responding to our questions with such detail.

That definitely depends on who's doing the explaining xD Yo Han would just brush it off and pretend that nothing is happening — which would just piss her off — while Ga On would make a stilted effort to explain without making it too obvious what it's actually about. Which would also annoy her.

That poor girl, seriously. She doesn't deserve to get caught between these two idiots.

I'm not sure I agree that Elijah "knows" that there was nothing between Ga On and Soo Hyun, though. I think she very much thinks there was something between them. I mean, sure, they denied it when she asked if they were dating, but THE WAY they did so was pretty telling (especially in Soo Hyun's case). Even more so since Elijah is a bit... well, innocent? I think most of her experience with love comes from media, books etc. and how Ga On and Soo Hyun behaved is, well, straight from a drama xD

And Elijah also had that talk with Soo Hyun when they were eating ice cream on Ga On's terrace, where it became pretty obvious that Soo Hyun is in love with Ga On and has already confessed to him several times.

So I think Elijah very much believes they were in love. Which means she won't really play a role in convincing Yo Han otherwise — if asked, she'd probably only make it worse, even. Because her understanding of love is a bit superficial and probably pretty geared towards straightness. That's not to say that she's not aware of gay people (I think she might actually know more about that than Ga On does xD) but from the evidence she's seen both Ga On and Yo Han seem straight to her (because I can't imagine that Yo Han has flaunted his dalliances with other men in front of her).

I know I'm very, very firm about this but Elijah doesn't know that Yo Han and Ga On have the hots for each other. And not because she's stupid, but because she's grown up in a country where straightness is the norm and Yo Han has done everything he can to hide the depth of his and Ga On's relationship from her. Also, she's a self-centred teenager x'D

Like, take me for an example. I was around 23-24 and very comfortable in my own pansexuality but was still IN NO WAY PREPARED when my mum basically went: "I may only have had sex with two women in my life but, let me tell you — 10/10, would recommend." Because I had only ever seen her date and talk about men before and therefore assumed she had no interest in anything else. That's how easy it is to miss that someone close to you isn't entirely straight — especially if it's a parent/guardian.

So I really don't think that Elijah would notice until it gets a lot more obvious than this xD

Which wasn't technically what your ask was about (sorry for the tangent xD), but still important to know because Elijah really won't be all that helpful when it comes to Yo Han and Ga On figuring out their feelings for each other. In fact, she might just end up making things harder for them without meaning to. But more about that in later chapters ;)

ANYWAY. Thank you so much for the lovely ask! I'm so happy to hear that people are this excited and involved in my story! And, tbh, I can't help replying because I'm very excited, too, and love talking about my writing, my thoughts, and my takes on these characters. How could I resist? More often than not, I have to cut my answers short because I keep writing longer and longer ones.

Like, you guys have no idea how long the first drafts of my author's notes usually are. One time I had to cut half of it because it was reaching truly spectacular lengths. And sure, I know that some of you probably wouldn't complain if I had posted that first draft, but I'm trying to contain myself, okay? And also not reveal too much since it might end up spoiling future plot points. It's a constant struggle.

So yeah. I'm actually consciously holding back a lot of the time because I'm trying to not come off as completely unhinged x'D

The wedding is such a beautiful event that it even closes with a spectacular party where a bride and a groom dance, oblivious to the happy gaze of the rest of the guests. Karen raises the glass with the others after some emotional words of good wishes from the counselors.  

The bride’s father and her brother are in the background, watching everything with certainty that this will be productive for their families and that the old promise of a former Senju leader was fulfilled after years of waiting.  

Mito is radiant... smiling and embraced by the groom and Hashirama, in his own way, reciprocates.  

“You should not worry.” Tobirama shows a light gesture in her direction. Like the shadow that she has been, so candid and confident that she didn’t expect her to be perceived by him.  

Those red eyes search for her, as she sighs with a soft smile ignoring the look of the Daimyo, curious about their interaction, as well as the nearby shinobi, who seem to suspect something.  

Only Izuna and Madara fall into that category; surely the latter told the former about their situation.  

She doesn’t like being the talk of the two, but... in this reality, being part of the gossip has been her daily life.  

“I... I can’t help it,” she sighs with a double blink at who observes her. “I just... I’m sorry I’m not very good at pretending.” The girl changes the language to English, sure that she won’t be understood.  

It’s been a long time since she used it... and it’s so nostalgic that it makes her a little sad.  

“You are a civilian.”  

“I know,” she admits with a soft smile. Surely other people far from her understanding would appreciate a normal conversation between two lovers. She carelessly takes the man’s arm with a firm squeeze. “I... I don’t know how to proceed now.”  

She feels stupid... idiotic for not having realized her friend’s feelings. She knows she should keep going... pretending that this didn’t happen for the sake of the work of everyone involved.  

And the woman’s feelings.  

Mito does not deserve it.  

“My brother... he only acted like an idiot.”  

“I also didn’t notice,” Karen sighs frustrated. “I’m sure I’m the laughingstock of all those who did,” she comments still in English. The music resonates along with several pleasant conversations.  

Among the smiles and laughter, the fact that this ceremony is held in the new compound with the attempt of making more alliances for the clan and upcoming moves marks the new era.  

However, Karen... she just turns off that emotion brimming with success in her dealings, supplied by the irritation of being so foolish.  

“You are not the laughingstock.”  

“Tobirama.”  

“You are not the type of person who notices things like this... just leave it.”  

“Mmm...” The woman is not so convinced. “I don’t kn- I never got a clue what to do in these cases, that’s why I never fell in love,” she growls.  

The bitter shinobi does not say anything.  

“By the way...” Karen decides to change back to the local language, distracting those who are beginning to realize that they are not communicating through something unknown. “Is the temple that far away?” She tries to divert any attention to her sentimental chaos to something else before ending up crying out of pure frustration.  

She raises her glass of sake to the person who responds on the other side of the dancing area that begins to fill. The Daimyo is happy... well, it seems so, although his gaze makes her feel very uncomfortable.  

At least the leader of the Uzumaki clan has him distracted... with his son.  

It’s so confusing... anxiety begins to well up inside her when she thinks about everything she has had to deal with. Not to mention the bad memories of the last event of this magnitude where the redheads were involved.  

It didn’t surprise her when Mikami left, but she was so focused on how to work with this for the future that she let her go alone to clear her head, leaving Matsuo with his grandmother.  

A matter apart from her main focus.  

“...” Tobirama gives her a look that says ‘the topic you’re bringing up is stupid, but I’ll let it slide’. It almost makes her huff indignantly. “It is far away.”  

“I see.”  

“Do you want to go?”  

“Can I?”  

“I do not see why not.”  

“If I remember correctly, I think you were the one who said I should stay inside the walls,” the girl mocks that silly remark the shinobi said when they first moved in.  

“I still maintain that... but if I accompany you, it would not be so bad.”  

“Mmmmm...” she frowns, suspicious that this was so easy. “You really want to get me out of here, don’t you?”  

“No. You just need to clear your head.” Tobirama speaks perfect English now. They switch to their previous communication with dignity and stealth; you can see how trained and capable he is.  

“I’ll pretend I believe you,” she snorts, tired of this topic. “How about we dance?”  

“No.”  

“Come on... we didn’t do it in the engagement.”  

“...” Tobirama positions himself as a statue for a long time while she tries to keep up with the rest. Dancing was the best way to relax and even if the steps are traditional and archaic, the civilian is able to follow the rhythm.  

“I will not to be annoying during all week... and go with you on that trip without asking any more questions,” she raises her hand in a promising gesture. “Come on...” She’s not begging... she just needs to move her feet a little and continue with the picture of a match made in heaven.  

And what better way to do it than in the middle of the wedding of the year, right?  

“Do you swear it?”  

“I swear,” the civilian calmly accepts, giving a subtle smile to the one who snorts tiredly. Tobirama is the worst companion she can choose... but that shadow is now her only consolation among all this mess.  

Because there is no mockery nor a stupid comment about her own blindness, and although it is still strange, she will let herself go, taking that initiative to perhaps start a, unlike before, less tense friendship.  

Where the man is cold, and she is too clueless.

The hangover is normal when she only drank one glass of sake the night before. Her tongue is dry, but she doesn’t comment anything to keep walking to the kitchen... in her pajamas with her messy hair. Karen sighs, incensed about committing such stupidity again.  

At least Madara wasn’t an idiot to challenge her like last time.  

Tobirama was not happy with the fact that she had had a glass of something so strong, though. “Good morning.” Kaori smiles jubilantly, blinking with those abnormal motherly eyes that have emerged since she has supposedly started an active sexual life with her boyfriend.  

A scandalous thing... that she frankly won’t deny, considering her scene yesterday and the smudged makeup.  

Besides, that was the reason why they compromised her, right?  

“Good morning,” Karen greets belatedly.  

“Tobirama-sama said he would pick you up this afternoon.”  

“This afternoon.”  

“Yes, he said you would be leaving the compound,” the old woman accepts, preparing some special tea for these occasions. Surely many have asked her for the recipe at this point, especially considering the party the day before.  

“Oh...” She blinks, remembering the previous conversation.  

“Is there something wrong?”  

“Well, I didn’t think it would be so soon.”  

“The young master looked enthusiastic,” the former kunoichi sings, and although Karen can’t imagine the man in that scenario, she just resigns herself to drinking the bitter drink.  

“Yuck! I don’t know why they don’t make it with a better flavor.”  

“Do not complain, girl. That is what you get for drinking.”  

“Ugh... it was just one glass.”  

“It did not seem so yesterday.”  

“I’m not the best drinker.”  

“I noticed it... and not for the first time,” the old woman scolds firmly with a severe frown. Karen smiles and limits herself to listening to the entire litany she had prepared for the poor civilian.  

At least, so far, there have been no delays or anything like that.  

Her life looks peaceful in her eyes for now.

Izuna is not very adept at coming to her house but now he just raises his eyebrow petulantly in her direction. She sighs and shakes her head, refusing to accept something she said to look around.  

“There is no one here,” the man mocks, crossing his arms indignantly at her doubt.  

“You sure?”  

“Of course. Who do you take me for?” The bitter shinobi laughs with an audible sigh.  

Karen says nothing, serving some tea away from the rumors that may spread due to this unforeseen visit. Izuna is a calm man in his own sarcastic way and, although he has sharp comments, is not malicious.  

At least not intentionally and considering that he has never dealt with a civilian before...  

“So...” the shinobi starts, breaking the silence and making her raise her eyebrow. “My brother told me.”  

“Oh...”  

“Oh? What is that supposed to mean?”  

“I didn’t know you were a gossip.”  

“I’m not.”  

“Then why do you want to know?”  

“Curiosity.”  

“You are a gossip.”  

“I would be if I spread it through both clans, but I won’t,” the young man boasts with a strong gesture.  

“And an idiot.”  

“Feel satisfied to know that you are the only civilian who speaks like that to me.”  

“Of course,” the girl says with a tired snort. “You’re not going to leave the subject, are you?”  

“No.”  

“Mmmm...” Karen looks at the sky. “It’s... confusing... I wasn’t expecting it.”  

“Then, you don’t love him.”  

“No.”  

“You could have started with that.”  

“I don’t want to hurt his feelings, not all of us are that apathetic,” the woman complains, making the man laugh, oblivious to any bitter comment.  

“Falling in love... is complicated, especially for a shinobi.”  

“Sounds like you’re talking from experience.”  

“No.” She sees Izuna blushing for the first time which makes her laugh mischievously, trying to hide it with loud coughs. “It’s none of your business.”  

“Right... I have to come loose while you keep quiet.”  

“It’s not the same.”  

“Of course it is. This is my love life that’s at stake here.”  

“Mine is of no interest to you.”  

“Come on, let’s make an exchange. I told you stuff, now you tell me.”  

Izuna stands up bitterly and disappears with his annoying art of quick stealth that makes her laugh a little. She could see the embarrassment all over his face even though he ran without answering her.  

The girl noticed it and will be surely using it against him in the future.  

Karen looks at the sky again, amused by such an interaction. Izuna is apparently an idiot in love. The only mystery is with whom.

The afternoon announces the arrival of Tobirama with an embittered gesture and armor well placed in its position. “Are you ready?” he does not ask, but orders dryly.  

“Kaori-san told me and prepared something,” she accepts, taking a small backpack. “I didn’t think we needed this much.”  

“Only the basics.”  

“How many days?”  

“Not many.”  

“Uh... but... what about my job?”  

“I spoke with Izuna about it. He shall be your substitute.”  

“But I didn’t even train him.”  

“He will take care of it,” the shinobi pressures to take her carelessly, which makes her huff tiredly.  

“Seriously, this is becoming a fixation.”  

“You are too slow.”  

“I know, I know...” she rolls her eyes. “Just let me know that you’re going to carry me a little earlier next time.”  

Tobirama ignores her without wanting to explain anything else. She was locked up that whole day and it was the first time in a long time that she had gone out. Karen smiles... and can’t help but feel faint when they reach the door in one jump, making the exit process so rigorous that he does not slow down, even if he is the brother of the clan leader.  

They look at them with various peculiar smiles that she prefers to ignore.  

“Have fun, Tobirama-sama,” one of them dares to say, earning a silent reprimand from the infamous white-haired man who loses his cool for a moment.  

Which makes her wonder... what kind of gesture is he making if that guy got so scared?  

“Hashirama... will leave in the morning tomorrow,” Tobirama states curtly, giving light peeks as if waiting for some reaction from her part.  

But that’s not her business. Karen is still surprised that they didn’t go at night during their honeymoon. There is something similar for couples, of course, even though it’s not called that. A weird name that she doesn’t remember and that it only relates to this already known one.  

The woman blinks as she is taken carelessly. In a matter of seconds, which she didn’t expect, they were already in the forest. She looks at the lovely view of a cliff not too far away next to a river at the bottom.  

So beautiful that she looks for a long time.  

Tobirama doesn’t say anything, acting like a gargoyle who took her out for his own selfish intentions. Or maybe not... but Karen promised not to ask unnecessary questions some time ago.  

More so if they involve her in some way.  

So, she keeps quiet and they continue the trip, hoping that perhaps her mind will relax, and she will be able to take her previous position without any problems upon her return.  

And to work with Hashirama, in some way... even though things aren’t the same anymore.  

Karen is sure that she will remain professional.  

It’s her job... right?  

A/N: As you can see, this is the closing of Hashirama’s wedding arc. Now, they took her out for reasons that thye frankly don’t want to express, but I will tell you that they have to do with the clan leader’s feelings... Tobirama hopes that not seeing her will clear his idiotic mind and let her live.

Weird question, but what do you think would of happened if Kotoko was voted guilty in T1?

Not a weird question at all. I've thought about it a lot and I believe if Kotoko was guilty with the other prisoners from trial one than Mahiru would have ended up supporting her in the same way that Amane did Futa. I think Mahiru stating that she doesn't hold any animosity towards Kotoko is meant to subtly highlight that.

She even goes as far as to say that Kotoko has something that she can't let go of just like she can't. A value or an ideal. So, if Kotoko were guilty she probably would have ended up having a better relationship with Mahiru.

Because Mahiru seeks out Kazui to confide in very similarly to how Mikoto confides in Futa on his birthday-

So, Mahiru was looking for someone to rely and confide in during the intermission. Kotoko states that she wants others to rely on her and has no issue admitting her similarities with Futa-

Kotoko: Of course. Haven’t I already said that I believe my actions have been correct?

If she was found Guilty she would more than likely think that Es' judgment was wrong not Milgram. This could either lead to her alligning herself with the other guilty prisoners or going completely rogue. Though Es would no longer be filling the role of the weakling she swore to protect but a villain someone who persecutes the weak and innocent.

Kotoko states that she's low on the heiarchy within Milgram,

"Sigh... "A murderer". Is that so? Trying to remind me of my low position in the hierarchy of this place? Don't disappoint me. Well, maybe it doesn't matter."

Along with the fact that that she views herself as innocent and in the right. So I don't believe it's a stretch to think that if Es were to find her guilty off the bat i that would make them the evil one in her eyes. Just like how Haruka easily said that Es wasn't his mom when and went to Mu. Kotoko would probably due the same thing with Es saying they weren't the weakling she thought they were and finding someone else.

She hates Mikoto but Mahiru is weak and helpless she almost died because of being jumped and the guilty verdict hit her hard emotionally. Kotoko even recognizes that from her innocent position and weeaponizes that against Es.

So I think given all that she'd end up latching to Mahiru to get the vindication she needs. This might ultimately begrudgingly lead to her working alongside Mikoto in some way and probably not being as blatant with her actions. Since the only reason she was probably so out in the open with her behavior was due to being found innocent. Considering she very actively disguised herself and snuck around before being brought into Milgram.

So that's what I think Kotoko would have been like if she was innocent and why.

💭 THOUGHT BALLOON — is there something or someone you find yourself thinking about more often than other things? if so, why do you think you do this?

If I must answer this... well. Of course I am always thinking of my dear master. Fond thoughts, to be sure, but also...there's always a little...niggling in the back of my mind. 'What-ifs', so to speak. And... during, and after returning from, our lengthy mission among the Tokugawa, my thoughts have been perhaps more occupied by that of those I spent that time with. Tonbokiri, Ookurikara, Ishikirimaru, Nikkari, and Monoyoshi-kun... Of course being a fellow Muramasa, Tonbokiri has always seemed to understand me more than anyone else. But even the rest of them, I... I suppose there is likely no way to spend so long with a group of people like that and not kindle some kind of bond with them-- at least that's how I feel. I don't know if their feelings toward me are any different than they were when we began. I just know that when they each left us, one by one, fulfilling their rightful end in that timeline... even though I knew they were simply returning home, it really felt as if a loved one had died. And then of course... there are Gohei and Nobuyasu. Two pure, innocent, kind souls who deserved far better than what they'd been given. I never expected to become so attached to a child of all things, but even though I did so from a distance compared to my fellow touken danshi there, I still feel like I helped raise that boy myself. I don't know if I would consider myself a parent, but... The hatred I harbor for that boy's real father is immeasurable. I think about them all so much. I still grieve them, I think, even though I'm not sure what to do with myself when it hits. Even my fellow touken danshi who returned before Tonbokiri and I... sometimes I still think or dream about their 'deaths' and... well. At least I can remind myself they're still here, alive.

ANY SUPERPOWER? Oh man, that's a hard choice! But you know what, I think I would choose to be able to fly! How cool would that be, y'know?! I could not and would not give them up or trade them for anything in the world, not a single one. Without them... well, I'm nothing.

A soft cry can be heard inside one of the rooms of the Ramshackle Dorm, a tired and continuous cry, almost like a newborn baby.

"I... I can't... This is hard... This hurts me so much... My heart hurts..."

"Shhh... I know, I understand it very well..."

Inside the room, the two magicless humans are sitting on the ruined floor, hugging each other in a warm embrace, trying to rid themselves of some unknown pain inside their own hearts. Will was trying their best to bring their friend some comfort, but Lyan looks so hurt and sick of everything that it makes him wonder if their affection was actually helping somehow.

"Why is this happening to us...? Why...? I miss my dad, I miss him so much... The people here aren't bad, but I am exhausted of battles and screams and those damn magical things!"

"Lyan... There's no other one who understands you better than me about this topic, I swear. I know what you're feeling, I understand your pain... But hey, we need to do our best..."

"We need to do our best?! We almost die everyday! YOU almost die everyday! Look at your scars Will! Look at my face! I... I am so scared of lose you too..."

At that moment, not even Will can stop herself from letting the tears roll down her face, tightening the hug even more. They stroke Lyan's hair, but this makes the poor student cry more. The two hide their faces on each other's neck, leaving the area slightly wet with tears of sadness and despair.

"I would never leave you, ever. Those things are nothing compared to what I experienced before. I would be happy to have thousands of scars if it meant that I would continue living with you and the others here... Besides, I need you here too..."

"Me? A useless piece of shit who can't even help when my friend is having an overblot? Oh sure, everyone needs me, of course."

"I already told you to not talk like that. Lyan, you can't see it but we can. You're such a wonderful person, you try to help us even when everything goes wrong! You help me just with your presence! The tears are getting strong on both sides, the grip getting tighter and tighter as the warm embrace almost hurts them. This is a difficult situation, not only for Lyan or Will, but for the two of them. Lyan softens the grip more, and comes face to face with his friend.

"My eye hurts, Will... I am tired, sick of it... My presence is nothing wonderful to have. I do everything wrong, I can't even help you when you need it. I am just wasting your time..."

"Liar. Don't you see, Lyan? You're helping me now. You're here with me! And that's what makes me feel better! And YES you help me with the overblots, but fuck them! You help me even when you're silent by my side, you help me when you stroke my hair with your soft hand, you help me when you make stupid jokes and puns about anything! Or when you listen to me speaking about some hyperfixation I've had for more than two hours! Believe me, 90% of people stop listen to me when I talk about Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts, BUT YOU'RE THE LOVELY AND ADORABLE IDIOT WHO LISTENS AND EVEN ASKS QUESTIONS! For a brief moment, Lyan feels his own face heat up a little before laughing at Will's comment. They slowly stop their desperate crying, resting their heads on each other's shoulders, sobbing a little. The silence start to fill the space between them, but it's comfortable, it's warm, like the hug of a mother.

"No need to thank me, it's just the truth."

The laugh that comes out from them is sincere, both the idiots blushing more at their own words. Will stands up, offering his hand to Lyan, who grabs it quickly and stand up too. They quietly walk together, holding hands, with a calm and soft smile after so much painful tears.

i screwed up by sending you that ask. i'm still unpacking all these thoughts but basically it just felt like another occasion to laugh at us. even the good folks of tumblr think triggering people with ocd is fucking hilarious as long as there's some acceptable pretext. i can't get anyone to take an interest in most policy issues but they love "cringe material" like people getting up in arms about the game. i'd love it if people could be accomodated in situations like this instead of getting tormented but i just don't think we'll be there any time soon. but none of that is your fault and you didn't deserve all that shit from me. i'm sorry.

I won't insult you by claiming to fully understand your experience, but I do understand the difficulties in getting people to engage with policy issues (or really, anything beyond what's memetic), albeit on different battlegrounds. I can also understand your frustration at seeing my post get engagement and praise for something that ultimately doesn't make much of a difference. What I'm getting at is I get the urge to lash out, and you're forgiven for that.

Your previous ask did raise some legitimately good points, and I hope I addressed those to your satisfaction. My goal was never to have a laugh at your (communal) expense, I was aiming to say that I wouldn't be a party to that same sort of behaviour, if that makes sense? I agree that we're not likely to be at a place of full tolerance any time soon (people are assholes), but I wanted to do my small part to help ensure that we move in that direction.

For what it's worth, I truly would love to improve my advocacy, so if you have any suggestions I would happily accept them, or if you want to message me I'd be happy to have a conversation about it. There used to be a time when he could just - read Fizz. Know him. Anticipate what was coming, when. They were never perfect - they'd fought, they'd annoyed the fuck out of each other, but they were perfectly them. Pieces that fit together just the right way, worn in complementary spots. Through the rocky times, the good ones, they moved together in a way that Blitz depended on.

Every decision for the last fifteen years has been dogged by doubt, by the occasional, remembered smell of smoke, of the kind of self loathing that sticks to the backs of his ribs and lives in the hollow of his spine. It's ancient and sticky, and he doesn't remember what it feels like to not worry that he's fucking everything up again.

Then Fizz laughs - like full on fuckin' laughs - and Blitz just ... blinks at him.

You're a fuckin idiot, you know that?

Blitz is extremely aware that he is, and he doesn't begrudge Fizz if he needs to say it, needs to lash out - but he doesn't actually sound pissed and Blitz can't help but lean in, hope flaring stubbornly in his chest despite knowing that he doesn't deserve it, that he's still earning it.

Though - it's a really good thing that Fizz keeps going because Blitz is stunned by what he comes out with -

don't you know i care about what you have to say more than anyone else ?

He can barely keep up, can barely process what Fizz is admitting, but at least he has the time it takes him to get through his speech to try. Everything hits - spending so much time alone, wanting to be seen by Fizz - wanting to pick up that stupid phone and call and just hear his voice - even if he hated him. I just wanted you to like me, and fuck doesn't that ring every bell in his goddamn body ? Doesn't that fit right into the space Blitz had carved out for Fizz when they were kids and his heart was bursting with all the like-like, the love, that Fizz brought into his life ?

His face his burning, his throat is burning, and something icy and bitter is cracking apart inside of him, letting a small, soft thing, neglected for years, emerge. Even after Fizz finishes, Blitz is silent for a few, long moments, just staring at him - eyes wide, like he's seeing something spectacular.

( he is. )

And then without thinking, all at once, Blitz throws himself forward and wraps his arms around Fizz, and Fizz is suddenly not the only one tearing up. Blitz can't worry anymore if this is wrong or right, if he's awful or okay - all he can do is cling to the person who's been most important in his life for so damn long.

❝ - I really missed you. ❞ His throat is aching, and his voice is more watery than he'd prefer, but Blitz clings to Fizz for a while - relearned the feel of him, the way his weight is a little different - the prosthetics that he had never been close to, now he can understand the feel of them as he wraps his arms around Fizz like he'll disappear the moment he lets go.

Thank fuck he doesn't. Blitz pulls back, scrubbing a hand across his eyes, his smile lighter, fuller - more real.

he knows blitzø is going to comfort him. knows that is how they've always been -- always were. fizz always had blitzø's shoulder to lean on &* his hand to help him back up. it was a crutch that caught up to him fast once he was without it. the months in the hospital after the fire had been the worst ------------ he'd been inconsolable , especially as time went on &* blitzø never showed.

people were nicer then ; treated him with softer hands for a while , like he was made of porcelain. he hadn't needed the crutch until it came time to relearn how to do his job. when he had to relearn how to function without his body. people weren't as nice when he struggled at first. it took time &* a hell of a lot of effort to adjust. ozzie's tech helped ------- ozzie helped. &* in the same way he'd come to lean on blitzø , he found ozz was a soft landing pad. but he'd never form the same kind of reliance. never give anyone the power to completely shatter him.

the phrase comes with such ease from blitzø that fizz outright laughs once the words have clicked into place in his mind ----------- short &* bewildered. was blitzø really that oblivious ? how could he think that ? doesn't blitzø understand the impact he has on him ? the value he places in his words &* presence ? fizz was so vocal about it in their youth -- so eager for the others praise &* adoration that he always sought him out first after doing just about anything. he wanted his opinion on everything -- good or bad ! -- as long as he just acknowledged him.

Movie 12! Time for the middle finger at Gosho's decision to try and make Shinichi tone deaf movie! Although he recently realized doing so would mean Shinichi couldn't understand the sound of the phone call so he once again changed his mind. We love a consistent writer.

And it starts off with a bang! Literally!

Shinichi and Ai showing us they have the superior relationship in the series in the introduction, as always.

And of course its followed by the lackluster relationship between him and Ran.

Ran: Do you want to come?

Shinichi: Sorry Ran, I can't go.

Ran: But maybe you can! (and keeps asking when Shinichi informs her again that he genuinely can't)

Shinichi finally: I just told you I can't so please stop meddling in my affairs.

Ran: Oh I'm just a meddling karate idiot am I (he didn't say that), well I'll insult you in turn and then hang up on you.

Such a great and romantic relationship guys! It's not even playful teasing, it's Ran pulling a hissy fit because Shinichi isn't doing what she wants him to do and got upset when he got a bit annoyed she wouldn't take no for an answer.

This is one of my favourite movies just because of the music.

Reiko has no chill. Poor Agasa, he puts effort into those quiz. Though Shinichi also finds them stupid so he can't win anywhere.

I love the Detective Boys, they went to a celebrity singer and asked for her help and somehow got it XD

LMAO Shinichi quickly trying to get in Ai's good books after he told her she was a bit stuck-up like Reiko by telling her he meant she was a pretty as her.

Oh my god Ran, he just told you he couldn't join you and to stop asking him when the answer wouldn't change, there's no reason to take your anger out on Sonoko for it.

Why are they calling it a fight?! It wasn't a fight, Ran was behaving like a brat because she didn't get her way. Don't blame Shinichi for this. He usually is the ass to Ran but this time the fault is all on her. God they really can't resist making their relationship god fucking awful even in movies.

I need them to understand what tone deaf means. You can't have perfect pitch and be tone deaf because being tone deaf means you can't tell the differences in pitch and Shinichi can. He just can't sing, there is a difference.

Genta deserved to be poisoned, really. He's lucky that it wasn't deadly in nature.

Reiko, if you're planning to talk to Genta's parents about how they raised him, she should do the same for all the DCMK parents. Give them the verbal whiplashing they deserve.

I love murder happening as classical music plays. So fancy.

Once again I repeat myself, the people don't have to have a link to Shinichi (or Ran) in order for him to want to protect them. This is a boy who will save murderers and serial killers because he views life as precious and I hate when the act like he would need a reason beyond that to protect them (I know they're implying that he only wants to help her because she's the reason he and Ran stopped arguing when in middle school which makes me want to gag).

Shinichi kept the shooting secret too because Reiko wants him too (and also because he's probably interested in knowing why the culprit didn't shoot when he had a great shot).

I love they just let Kogoro accuse a man of serial murder and the police did not ask him for his reasoining and evidence before they took him to the man's home.

Shinichi bonds more with Reiko than he does with Ran. It makes sense, considering how much alike she is to Ai who is a much better friend to Shinichi and him to her than either he or Ran will be with one another (at least how they're written in canon).

Detective Conan is so insane. In no other anime will you have a shrunken teen knock a phone off its reciever and then imitate the sounds of the phone buttons in order to call the police for help. Oh they were stranded in the middle of a lake near a dam I should add. Also for once Shinichi wasn't off tune XD

Shinichi and Reiko are cut from the same cloth, lying to the police to get their own way. And both of them know each other did. Shinichi isn't wrong, Reiko is so much like Ai.

Oh fuck off Shinichi, you don't give as much of a shit about Ran as you like to believe you do and we all know it.

I mentioned in a poll earlier the oldest song I know is Amazing Grace. I am not ashamed to admit it was because of this movie.

I appreciate the movie naming the music that is being played.

And fuck off Ran as well. Don't make this movie about you and your shitty behaviour.

Another great part of this movie, Reiko helping Shinichi stall for time, Ai telling Shinichi about Satou's plan and Satou getting to be the one who stops the criminal from blowing the hall up. For a change, the female characters have their moment to shine in very important ways. Even Sonoko gets a moment. Ran... someone get her better writers.

And it's quite sad that this case was caused by a misunderstanding between two people.

YES. SHE AND SHINICHI ARE PARTNERS IN CRIME.

Shinichi, why are you rewarding Ran's bratty behaviour from the start of this movie. She does not deserve it and needs to learn to accept that Shinichi told her no.

Anyway, a great movie. Remove the forced relationship between Ran and Shinichi, especially Ran's shitty behaviour, and it would be an almost perfect movie for me.

His appreciation is immeasurable, as the leader he doesn’t get much thanks and this small gesture really means a lot to him.

“Don’t worry! You didn’t get burned at all, did you? Let’s get some cool water going just to make sure.”

While he helps you treat the small burn on your arm, both of you silently blush at the physical and occasional eye contact

After that, he always is the first to offer first aid to you. He and Donnie usually work together or take turns with that kind of chore, but Leo always has something else for Don to do if you’re injured so he can be the one to take care of you.

After some time, he makes an attempt to flirt with you. Emphasis on “attempt.”

You being you, you get very panicky as soon as you realize what he’s doing. He immediately gets just as embarrassed as you, and it’s almost as if you’re having a competition to see who’s face can get redder.

Spoiler alert: it’s you. He’s green.

This is the quickest pairing to actually get together, mostly because Raph noticed Leo’s weird behavior around you and approved for once. He sees it coming before Leo’s ready to admit it, and encourages him to make a move.

Together you support each other's “embarrassing” interests and tendencies, and you always take care of each other :)

I think Raph would find your shyness annoying at first, he’s very into the idea that everyone should be able to fend for themselves.

BUT his crush starts when you trap and move a cockroach from the table after he freaks out about it. Then, you ask him without judgment if he’s alright.

Cue HUGE blush fest. He blushes, you blush, yada yada you get the picture.

That’s when his perspective switches around. Someone who doesn’t judge him for his stupid fear? That’s… exactly what he needs.

A few months into his crush, he starts making you gifts. You like animals? He’s made tiny robots of your favorite ones! You’ve shown particular interest in one of his many MANY science rants? But uh no pressure if you don’t want it, of course, he understands, it’s kind of a weird gift-

You’re both easily flustered, Don’s an over-thinker, and you’re too shy to make a direct first move, so it takes forever for you two to make any progress, but once you do you’ll be the sappiest couple in the sewers :)

Openly affectionate from the start. He’s a love at first sight kind of guy!

Flirting, hugs, and any little touch he can get. Finding reasons to fight back to back with you on missions, no shame, this guy!

He pulls you out of your shell a little, but also loves how easy it is to make you blush.

His crush is really solidified when he hears your laugh for the first time. Not the quiet giggle or chuckle he’s used to, but your genuine, unapologetic, snorting, wild “ugly” laugh.

He had never heard a sound more exciting in his life. And he feels starstruck. An audible “wow” escapes him, and you get a tad self conscious.

He immediately shuts that down, saying he thought it was super cute!

After a little bit of back and forth with your embarrassment and his reassuring you that he thinks you’re almost as adorable as ice cream kitty (even though in his mind he thinks you’re actually even cuter, but he won’t say it out loud), there’s a brief moment of eye contact that you both feel lasts forever but also not long enough, you turn away with a quiet “thank you, mikey”

He replays that scene in his head for days, weeks, months, maybe even years. However long it takes for you two to get together (which could be soon, or could be a while. You’re shy and he’s impulsive, hard to predict when he’ll confess!). Sometimes his wild imagination even replaces that last line with an “i love you”

Nothing changes much when you eventually get together, at least from the outside. He’s still just as openly flirty as before, but you feel a special sincerity to his words that you’re not sure was there before. He looks to you after every clever joke he makes in the hopes that he’ll see that sweet smile or maybe hear that adorable laugh again.
