Lips anon! Coach Miguel and the hot aunt of one of the kids he coaches. He coaches her nephew and she picks him up from practice a good portion of the time. Miguel gets a little messy around her. She's kind, doesn't shameless eye him like a hunk of meat, and total milf material without a ring.
They hit it off great. Making time to go to lunch with her was rather difficult, but it was worth it. She's a genuine sweetheart and didn't try anything on him. They have more lunches, which soon enough turn into dates. And more dates. And more dates.
This is the one. And the kid couldn't be anymore mortified that the terrifying coach is gonna knock up his aunt lol
Ooohh Coach! Miguel, 👀
He couldn't help noticing you when you came to pick up one of his students, Mikey.
His parents could never meet him, when it came to the parents meeting. Instead, you showed up in their place.
"He's a good kid, just needs a bit more discipline." He mumbled and Mikey would only recoil behind you.
"Ready to go, sweetie?" He nodded
"Go pack your stuff and wait for me on the entrance, okay?"
Mikey left, leaving you and Miguel alone.
"I'm really sorry if he's giving you a bit of trouble. My sister and her husband... well, they barely have time to come because of their jobs." You gave him a nervous smile.
You had no children on your own, but loved Mikey as your own and would gladly take care of him whenever your sister and husband would be too busy. You almost felt sorry for him, He was a great kid that just happened to have emotionally detached parents.
"No problem, just a heads up. He is slacking off from the rest. If you'd talk to him, I'd really appreciate it." Miguel spoke as his hands went to his waist. You nodded and sighed.
"I certainly will. Thank you, Mr...?"
"O'Hara. Miguel O'Hara." His large hand wrapped around yours with ease. You were warm and smooth.
"Right. I'm (Name), Mike's aunt. Nice to meet you and thanks for your time. Have a nice day." You smiled politely at him and his eyebrow rose. It was a first for him to not feel shamelessly oggled at as the other mothers talked with him. His eyes couldn't help but linger on the way you treated Mikey.
The kid seemed comfortable enough to display a bit more range of emotions rather to just brood in the bench. He chuckled.
-----
In small events you would bring a small snack for everyone, him included. He watched the neatly folded and amazing smelling panini and the sports veberage on your hands, offering him a little relief after the competition.
"Thank you for today, Mr. O'Hara." Again, no lust in your eyes, just pure heartfelt kindness. He accepted the treats and gave you a small smile.
"Thank you."
-------
His eyes seemed to always focus on you whenever you entered the indoor gym, simple yet gorgeous looking. High waisted capris that always seemed snug at your form just good, cute flats, a small digital watch on your left wrist and a colorful shirts. Little floral prints seemed your favorite, he observed.
He noticed the solemn look you had instead of the usual breathtaking smile you always greeted him with. Mikey seemed just like you, but you comforted him with a small rub on his upper back. You weren't mad at Mikey, possibly a stupid fight your parents put up and he was caught in the middle.
"Let's get some pizza okay?" You mumbled and Mikey just left.
"Are you okay? I mean... Probably not my business but-"
You stared at him with big eyes full of wonder.
"Thanks for your concern Mr. O'Hara. It means alot. But I'm fine. I'm just worried about Mikey. He heard his parents fighting and it didn't sit well on him."
"Don't worry." He'd pat your shoulder and nod softly, "I've got him."
-----
Little conversations soon turned into a bit more deeper and longer ones. His eyes would linger on your lips and oh the way your ass bent inside those pants.
It took him a couple of weeks to actually ask you out. You talked about everything, specially his athletic back grounds and of course you.
------
You lost the count after the eighth . Mikey was mortified cause sometimes he'd find Miguel at your apartment, expecting something to happen. But you would just bring him to a more private area and would laugh. At least you were happy.
-----
He proposed you after Mikey winning the tournament. And you'd say yes. Mikey just looked in horror as you kissed and celebrated.
He'd see Mr. O'Hara more than he liked to admit.

Capri Donahue x Harper!Sibling reader
Warnings: MDNI, dom!Capri, sub!reader, oral, fingering, overstimulation, light bondage, multiple orgasms, squirting
Read as a standalone fic, or after ‘Never Lost’ for more context on the storyline!
“So you told Darby about the powers?”
“Kinda had to, she saw me use them the other night.” Capri replies nonchalantly. “And after what I did, she couldn’t say much about them anyway. But, we’re fine now. No more stupid drama.”
“Really?” You asked, a bright smile on your face. Probably the first one all weekend since before the car nearly hit you.
The weather was gloomy, rain was about to fall given the way you kept hearing thunder roaring in the distance. Paying no mind to that, you looked into the mirror in front of you, checking your skin before drying it with a face towel. While doing so, you felt Capri staring at you intently. Your bare body. Next, her arm snakes around your waist as she shifted into her position behind you, hugging you. Her chin rested on your shoulder as she whispers, "I love you." It gave you that warm and fuzzy feeling in your stomach...those words. But also that forsaken rush of heat downwards.
"Why so clingy, babe?"
"No reason." She spoke, pressing a soft kiss in the crook of your neck. That action sends an electric shock down your spine, making you take in a sharp breath. "Listen- remember I said the other day that we should take it to my house. And now that we are...what do you say we do just that?" Her hand traces your side as she asks.
You chuckle, catching her drift, "I say, okay."
"Good." She says as her other hand- her left hand reached up the front of you body and just held your breast in her hand, massaging it ; That gesture successfully elicits a whimper from you. "Remember that talk we had awhile ago about doing some things to spice it up?" She asks, now you were overly aware of the fact that her bare body was pressed up against yours. "Yeah." You respond. "Last week, I got us a little something to use."
"What?"
"Give me a minute." Her hand gropes your ass cheek shamelessly as she leaves the ensuite bathroom, "I'll be right back." You hear her walk into her closet, opening a drawer then some shuffling and other clattering sounds that you couldn't make clear.
However, when she returned, your question was answered. "That is not a little thing."
"It's not that big." She smirked, looking down at the harness she'd put on, leaning onto you to graze the shell of your ear.
"Capri, you know I've never-"
"Well, do you want to try it? For me to use it on you?"
You pondered for a moment, observing her face, how the damp shoulder-length hair stuck to her skin, but also seemed to perfectly frame her face at the same time. Her full breasts inches away from you, you looked at her hands, then her lips as you began to fantasise and crave for her touch. "I do." You agreed with a tiny nod of your head. She grins, saying, "I'll work you up to it with my fingers first." As you gave her another agreeing nod, she cups your face and both your lips quickly melted into one- her free hand carries on groping your other breast that she's neglected for a minute or few, honestly. Subsequently, her hand that was cupping your face makes its way down between your legs, gathering some of your arousal on two fingers as they began to circle your already sensitive clit teasingly. You weren’t one to brag— she was. But the two of you were rather…active.
Slowly, she flips you over so your back was against her and your front was pressed up against the cool granite countertop. “I want you to look at yourself in the mirror, babe.” She whispers, pushing your back lightly so you were now bent over. You flinch as the warmth of your skin became one with the coldness of the countertop. “Watch how your face changes when I fuck you.” She tells you. With you, her bark was always worse than her bite. She’d never order you around. Her next move was to hold both your wrists together behind your back, “I don’t want you to touch yourself though. Leave that to me.”
You didn’t say anything back, but your body reacted. She feels your wetness grow, her fingers even slipping from its spot unintentionally. She holds the sensitive bundle of nerves in between two fingers and gives it a light pinch. Another whimper easily falls from your lips, more came out when she repeatedly does the same thing. Eventually, a moan erupts from your throat as she pulls her hand away. She hears you gasp, but you almost instantly feel her again- her index and middle finger spreading your lips apart and dipping her middle finger in. She begins at a languish pace to build up your arousal but quickly reciprocated your noises of approval by picking up her pace, and her mouth marking your neck. The index finger joins the first, curling up to hit you exactly in your g-spot every time she pushed into you. On top of that, once she’d let go of your wrists, she gives you a resounding smack on your ass. “Oh, fuck!” You panted, a high-pitched whine following your cry.
“Watch, baby.” Capri reminded you softly.
“Okay.” You gulped while feeling her fingers trace your ass cheek randomly. Her fingers entered you again, resuming its motion to bring you closer to your climax. Capri’s thumb ghosted your clit, close enough to know it was beginning to pulse. So, she pulls her fingers out the furthest she could without leaving you, continuing this for awhile before you let her hear that you were clearly frustrated and wanting more from her. Capri’s been watching you in the mirror to see your face- tears were brimming in your eyes as you begged her for more, you swollen clit desperately needing more stimulation than it was getting. Capri knew that- she could feel you. You were aroused but not exactly close yet. Her hand doesn’t leave you, but you see her bend down to find something in one of the drawers. Lube. She got a generous amount of it onto the strap, “You ready, bunny?”
————
Your breathing hitched, giving her an eager nod in response. Your body was yearning for more and this seemed like it. You could feel Capri teasing your folds with it while watching your face for any sort of confirmation- which you gave to her in seconds. You felt the tip of it at your entrance, and as the tip gets pushed into you, your mouth was hanging open as a high-pitched moan comes out of it. Capri smirked when she heard that- it was like music to her ears and she couldn’t get enough of it, of you. She started slow to help herself gain a comfortable momentum, but once your moans and whimpers fell from your lips in an unending manner she took it as her cue to pick up her pace and push herself into you, deeper.
“Oh, my God.” You gasped at a completely new sensation. You were completely filled out but the strap, feeling the pressure on a completely foreign spot, deep inside you. Capri seemed to know what it meant, her hand rubs your clit as she stood still, letting the tip of the strap keep its pressure on that spot. Shamelessly, you were crying. Capri started moving again, the strap pounding into you purposefully, her hand rubbing and pinching your clit. You started to feel a familiar coil in the bottom of your abdomen, and you alert Capri that you were close breathlessly. What she does? It pissed you off in the moment- she pulls out completely.
“Capri, Capri. Please.” You begged, “Capri, I’m so close.”
“I know, I know. Baby, shh.” She shushes you, her hands on each ass cheek as you saw her disappear in the reflection. In the next few seconds, you feel her kiss your clit. So gently, but your knees buckled. Capri keeps you steady, though. You gathered she must be on her knees as she ate you out, but that was a thought quickly gone from your mind when you felt her tongue pushing into your tight entrance mercilessly. You could barely keep still, nor stay standing. Once her mouth fully attaches onto your cunt, your body reacts. It takes this as cue to unravel, filling her mouth with your juices. Even then, she doesn’t stop, her tongue carries on flicking your clit like it was on a mission, lapping up your juices but you were almost instantly dripping again. You couldn’t hold it in anymore- you cried. The tears just fell like no one’s business. You could feel yourself throbbing as she continued to give you the stimulation. But you didn’t stop her- for some reason, you didn’t want her to stop. She just felt so fucking good. Before you could register what was happening, you came again. Then, she lifted your leg up so that your foot rested on the counter. “You okay?” She asks you as she positioned herself. That was when you saw her face- god, her chin was dripping with your juices. “Yeah. I- I’m fine.” You confirmed, then feeling her hands on your ass again.
“You’re so hot, baby.” She licked her lips, swallowing, “You wanna keep going?”
You were so fucked out that that was all you wanted now. So, you agreed. And she does just that. The strap was pushed back into you in one swift movement, no resistance at all. She moved ungodly fast, forcing a string of profanities, her name, whimpers, moans and cries to resound through the bathroom. Capri loved it- you saw her face - that proud smile plastered on her face.
Your knees began to shake so she held a hand on your waist. “Capri- I- oh, my God- what is- oh, fuck. Oh, my God-”
She chuckles breathlessly, “Holy shit. Oh, God that’s so hot.” Her pace slows down, eventually pulling out completely and ditching the harness. And you, you were still…going.
“Oh- oh, God. Thank you.” You managed.
“You did fucking amazing.” She steps over the puddle she caused on the floor and leaned down to kiss your lips after wiping her mouth off, brushing the hair out of your face. You smiled weakly as she hoisted you up bridal style and brought you back to her bedroom, carefully placing you on her mattress.
“I can’t believe I did that.” You reached out for her face so you could kiss her again.
“I know.” She grins, giving you yet another kiss before laying down with you. “I love you so much.” Content, you smiled, snuggling against her bare chest with your arms wrapped around each other.
————
After a little while, she leaves you to get you a drink of water which you gratefully accepted. “I’m gonna go clean that up then we’ll go take another shower to clean ourselves up.” She smooches your cheek before entering the bathroom again.
“Okay.” You said as she walked away.
After that was done, the both of you took a quick shower then went to order some food, watching some TV while waiting. “Can you walk?” She teases.
“Do ya think so?” You sassed.
“Okay, okay. Don’t move.” She chuckles, which turned into a signature cheeky smirk, “Which flavour do you want? Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Strawberry Cheesecake, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough?”
“Cookie dough.”
“Okay.” She grabs the mini cups of ice cream then shut the fridge door. “Do you want anything else?”
“No.” You shook your head no as you watched her walk back to you.
“Here you go.” She hands your ice cream to you, which you immediately dug into.
“How you feelin’?” She asks, biting the tiny spoon in between her teeth as she reaches for the TV remote.
“Uh- a little sore. But you probably know that.” You blushed.
“Do you want painkillers?” She asked worriedly.
“Mm, no. I think I’m gonna be fine.”
“Alright. Just let me know if you need that or anything else.” She says while leaning onto you, resting her head on your shoulder as she ate her dessert.

Elsbeth (1.07) Reactions:
Spoilers under the cut!
first episode I’ve gotten to watch live. :’) I cannot believe how fast I’ve fallen for this show.
KEEGAN MICHAEL KEY!! He’s looking so good.
I love that because elsbeth isn’t a whodunnit, the show can get away with casting insane guest stars for the culprits since it’s the “showcase role.”
It’s kind of delicious that Mr. and Mrs. Hayes are mutually down to murder akaksowkskwksosn—and in fact, it’s implied that this is far from the first time they’ve had to get rid of someone the hard way.
Relatedly, kudos to the creators and writers. all of the culprits have felt unique in their motivations, personalities, and skill sets so far.
“A long line of honorable men have worn this watch, and you desecrated it with that abominable dance.” FJSDJJS, god, Keegan is so funny.
THAT BLUE BLAZER AND PINK SHIRT!! The bucket hat!!!!
I appreciate that they’ve been consistent with having some of the detectives start to recur! Makes the show’s world start to feel lived in.
Both Donnelly and Kaya, shocked to hell: “You’re married?!”
Lol, Mr. Hayes is a sloppy murderer. He doesn’t try to look bothered at ALL.
Elsbeth housewarming party! Yay!!!
“People doing stupid stuff at a wedding—like having them! Sorry, bad divorce.” Gdkwkqkqkkw
I like how Detective Donnelly has clearly softened up a bit—she even seems a little fond of Elsbeth.
LOL @ THE BRUTAL CUT TO KEEGAN CONFESSING ABOUT THE AFFAIR ANSNSNANSNSNS. The show knew they had a comedian on their hands, and they were going to treat him well.
Ooooh, Keegan’s character knowing Claudia. Interesting.
Elsbeth’s dancing outfit!! The leg warmers!! The blue barrette!!!
Kaya and Elsbeth going out for a lady’s night!!
“A clown emoji was used.” [Cue Kaya laughing fondly.] 😭
ELSBETH NERVOUSLY TRYING TO SHUFFLE MONEY TOWARDS CAPRI HELP ME.
Ugh, love that coat on Kaya
I’m going to ignore the elsbeth would love to be Kaya’s mother-in-law quote for reasons.
Anyway, for totally unrelated reasons, do Kaya and elsbeth have a ship name yet. I’ve been calling them kayabeth in my head
Yay!! Love that Teddy’s gay.
Apparently, he doesn’t fall for kind or honest people
FJSDJDJSJ, elsbeth sticking the beer bottle near the golf cart pedal. She’s so fucking wild.
“Oh, you’re no dummy. I could tell that right away.” I love the moments when Elsbeth’s ruthlessness comes through.
The deputy(?) Dave might be the one covering up the Flair-All thing.
That rainbow sweater and the jacket Elsbeth originally had over it was a gay ass fit <3
Sorry, this case is bringing up some stuff.” Lmao, I like Donnelly. Her dryness is fun.
Omgg, Hayes and Elsbeth DANCING!! AKQKWKQOQOKSJS, Carrie Preston is a master of physical comedy
This was just an excuse to get Keegan Michael Key to dance and I love it
THAT CARTWHEEL WKWKDKWNSN
I love that they’re genuinely having fun together. One of the biggest draws of the show to me is the unique relationships that Elsbeth has with the culprits of the episodes. She’s out to get them, sure, but she takes great pains to understand them too.
THE WATCH!!!!! That was such a fun set-up.
Kaya is so fucking pretty.
The fact that she got Elsbeth a hook for all her tote bags. 🥺 A pragmatic and thoughtful gift.
OMG, THE DJ SON FROM THE SECOND EP! Nice continuity.
this apartment is goddamn gorgeous. All those windows feel very elsbeth.
WAGNER CONFRONTING HER!!!!!!! HHHHHHGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
DON’T DO THIS AT HER HOUSEWARMING PARTY!
Lieutenant Noonan… omg, I called it… but now that Wagner is saying the same thing, I’m back to the drawing board on whether I think it’s true or not yet. They’re doing a nice job of continuing to pull this tension in different directions.
This was a very fun episode. Keegan made for a great culprit, and there was a lot of awesome work in fleshing out different characters/dynamics in the main cast.
I’m so charmed by this show. 😭

SPLATOON OC ASKS ARE OPEN!
Because I have brainrot and am writing a big ol’ OC story, I’ve decided to open up asks for any of my characters! Below will be some rules for asks, and under the cut will be brief descriptions of all the characters available for questions, because I don’t expect anyone to remember all of them or go scrolling through all my posts to figure out who is who.
This will be updated if/when I create more OCs and their references are posted.
RULES:
* You can ask them any questions, give them things, dare them, and other stuff!
* Please specify if you are asking a certain character(s), so I don’t get confused on who to have answer. If I’m not sure who it’s meant for, it’ll likely go unanswered.
* The only things I won’t allow are NSFW questions. As a general rule, if you wouldn’t ask a person irl about this/to do this, don’t ask them. If it's really bad, you might end up blocked.
* If you have questions about my characters/story meant for me, you can ask those as well! Please just specify if it’s a question for me! Please note that questions for me will likely be answered before questions for characters, as I plan to draw characters' answers.
All asks take place after the story mode of Splatoon 3!
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS (in order of left to right, top to bottom)
Katrina: red haired Inkling. Big of heart, dumb of ass. Loves fried food. Usually gets herself injured in stupid ways doing stupid things. Agent 4 of the New Squidbeak Splatoon. Older sister of Rook, and best friends with Neil, Lora, and Hydra. Queer platonic partner of Capri.
Neil: teal haired Inkling. Stoic and serious. Keeps Katrina in check (while arguing with her all the while). Always dragged into doing Katrina’s stupid ideas. Best friends with Katrina, Lora, and Hydra. Agent 5 of the New Squidbeak Splatoon.
Waffles: yellow and purple haired Inkling. A fun-loving and naive kid who probably shouldn’t be allowed to participate in Turf War but does so anyways. Will befriend you (threat). The younger brother of Pancakes, and friend of Hydra.
Lora: purple haired Octoling. Aspiring fashionista and the median for Neil and Katrina. Sweetest person you’ll ever meet, but also a bit harshly sisterly. Former Octarian army soldier turned spy and Agent 6 of the New Squidbeak Splatoon. Best friends with Katrina, Neil and Hydra.
Pancakes: yellow and purple haired Inkling. Seemingly untrusting and cold, but actually a big softie who just doesn’t really understand how to express his emotions. Giant tactician nerd who rigorously studies Turf War maps. Older brother of Waffles, and boyfriend of Hydra.
Capri: orange haired Inkling. Seemingly stoic and serious, but really they’re just tired. Secretly mischievous and silly. Probably watches whatever the Splatoon equivalent of TikTok is all day. Former Agent 3 and Captain of the New Squidbeak Splatoon. Queer platonic partner of Katrina. Friends with Neil, Lora, Hydra, and Harper.
Hydra: (he belongs to @austin-the-creechur, but as he’s very important to my character’s stories, he is available for questions!) cyan haired Octoling. Loud, extroverted, and confrontational, but has a heart of gold. Loyal friend and anarchist. Raised in the Splatlands. Has a Smallfry companion lovingly named “Little Buddy”. Agent 3.0 of the New Squidbeak Splatoon. Best friends with Katrina, Neil, and Lora. Friends with Waffles and Rudy. Romantic partner of Pancakes.
Egg: light orange haired cephalopod. A formerly fuzzified cephalopod, who was rescued by the New Squidbeak Splatoon and later cured. Shy and timid, but tries to be friendly and will probably do anything you ask without questioning it. Friends with Capri, Katrina, Neil, Lora, and Hydra.
Rook: red haired Inkling. Raised by the Salmonids before being reunited with her older sister Katrina, and now resides in Splatsville with her Smallfry friend, Puck. Local "I-lived-under-a-rock" who doesn’t understand inkfish culture. Takes everything too seriously, but is trying to be a little more lax, as per requested by her sister. Friends with Neil, Lora, and Hydra.
Kouser: light yellow haired Inkling. Lives in the desert of the Splatlands that surrounds Splatsville. Another person who doesn’t understand Splatsville culture. Runs on a “dog eat dog world mentality, and regularly mugs people for food and money. Self conscious about their scar. Has history with Hydra.
Harper: blue haired Octoling. Sassy lil bitch with a talent for rap and music. Will do what she believes is right until the bitter end, and will fight for it too. Cares deeply for her friends and loves doing things with other people. Hates being alone. Throws herself into risky situations without thinking first. DJs for a job as DJ D33P-C. Has seen The Horrors. Agent 8 of the New Squidbeak Splatoon. Friends with Capri, Katrina, Lora, and Neil.
Rudy: teal and pink haired Octoling. Part of a motorbike gang. Sassy and rude to everyone, including her friends, but is only joking towards people she actually likes. Holds grudges like her life depends on it. Fiercely protective of her friends, and is not afraid to throw hands at anything. Friends with Hydra.
Chipper: orange haired Octoling. Runs a restaurant named Aloha Eats, which Katrina is a regular of. Uses various Salmonid ingredients in her food, collected by striking a deal with and working at Grizzco occasionally. Technically doesn’t have a license for it, but can provide ability-boosting food and beverages.

what kind of science fiction does emo beatrice/1930s au beatrice tend to write? is it “oh no! aliens!/oh no! creatures!” ala war war the of worlds and like, godzilla
dystopias like 1984 & episodes of black mirror, humans doing fucked up stuff that comes to bite them in the ass aka frankenstein and like every 1960s sci fi film about some giant creature that came about because of nuke bombs (which were pratically all the films then it seems), Weird Shit Happens ala the twilight zone, Exploring Them Oceans, Exploring Them Earth, or Exploring the depths of the earth ala journey to the center of the earth
Woag, space, ala more star trek esque stuff (spef tos), boom bam in space ala more star wars esque stuff? Normal people with normal problems but in sci fi settings! Among Us? (Side note that gave me the mental image of jonty in an among us costume thx to ava who convinced beatrice to let her dress him up via them puppy dog eyes and now i’m laughing my ass off.
semi related do you think beatrice would be the type to have a bunch of random & obscure dog merch? feel like she isn’t, that’s more ava’s thing, and ava’s thing is more on weird ass clothes for the dog that she deems cute, but i feel like beatrice probably has the occasional impulse buy or something that in hindsight was either stupid and/or the dog didn’t like collecting dust in her attic or something
((pls tell me beatrice has had the often universal pet owner experience of buying something more expensive than usual only for that money to just go to waste as the pet is near apathetic and likes something cheaper. i’m in hysterics imagining beatrice being Extra MopeyTM because she got some new relatively expensive dog food that was highly recommended by dog owners & vets w a bunch of Nutritional Benefits and she was excited to gift it to jonty, only for jonty to just sniff at the food, not touch a morsel of it and then whine that he didn’t get his usual birthday bone))
but i feel like beatrice might have like, a bunch of pictures of her dog and/or her & the dog, maybe even a whole album for them, and beatrice might have like a bunch of silly and/or matching pictures, like taking a picture in one of these type things, etc etc
Tumblr media
Great questions.
I think (unsurprisingly) Beatrice would be suuuuper influenced by H.G. Wells and definitely Shelley. The sci-fi she writes would be along the lines of what if the world was the same as it is now except for this one fucked up thing or like The protagonist meets this one character or thing that changes them and flips their world on its head.
Her novels were probably verging on social satire and were inspired heavily by the war. She retaliated against her upbringing through her books. her father was absolutely Oxbridge educated and had a lot of books/subscribed to literary journals so Beatrice had a lot of material as a kid.
(The more... ahem frowned upon books she had to source herself. she definitely read Flowers of Evil and Carmilla etc and was left feeling very 123?!!13XZSDVFGH4????!!!1f?? by them. Also definitely read The Well of Loneliness and hated it a little bit.)
Short stories like The Croquet Player and A Dream of Armageddon were a reference point for her early writing probably. (she definitely had a wild time reading the time machine, as did I) Themes around Duty vs Love etc are just very very Avatrice so A Dream of Armageddon felt very them. It was sort of like what if Avatrice chose to leave together instead of fight etc and rejected their responsibilities in favour of being together and unbothered and in love and ran away back to Switzerland (but in the story it's Capri) idk it just made me think of that a little bit.
I imagine one of her more popular novels would be something about the intersection between religion and Science and some sort of reconciliation and/or divide between the two. Like maybe a new theory/invention/revelation that seemingly disproves a major theological belief, a la Ted Chiang's 'Omphalos' except in 1930 lol. Idk I'm not about to write an entire novel inside of this fan fic. Or am I... probably not,,, but who knows??? (not me).
I don't think Bea would hem herself in too much though. So there'd totally be weirder more experimental books the older she got (and the more comfortable she got in being a bit weird). Overall she'd lean more towards speculative/dystopian fiction rather than full-blown Star Trek-type sci-fi. Like, imagine how fucked up we can be as opposed to how fucked up things from outer space can be.
In regards to the pet tangent:
Beatrice has a million comfy dog beds for Jonty but (a lot like my own dog) he sleeps on none of them, much preferring cardboard boxes, people's shoes, or the windowsill. The Cardinal (Beatrice's cat) appreciates the beds though.
Jonty is far too wriggly to be still enough to have his picture taken/be put in clothes. The Cardinal on the other hand is perpetually :| and chill with everything so Ava would probably convince Bea to spend money on buying a camera or paying for professional pictures of him like these:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beatrice would scoff but then, a few days later, would have them framed and put up.
This hc spiralled a bit but god was it fun. Thanks as always for the great question/thoughts.

My DNA contributors just decided that they want to go to San Diego for five days this upcoming summer. Then my egg donor tried to make me come with them, but the moment she tried, I started flashbacking to that one time when they dragged my then 17 1/2-year-old ass with them by car to San Diego for my abusive former friend's wedding at the time in addition to forcibly dragging me to that one Hot Topic-free strip mall with the intention of buying me a fuck ton of girly clothes against my will and abusing me in public for naturally refusing. They literally dragged me into the guess boutique and forced me to try on those two camis with built-in bras in them and when I said that I didn't like them and that they were too tight on me, my DNA contributors got mad and started abusing me because they liked those camis so much that they didn't even care that they were too tight on me. So they bought them anyway. Then when we walked out of the guess boutique and she saw that one of my fingers was touching her teardrop-shaped ametrine ring, she grabbed my hand and twisted it, after which she started hitting me in the middle of that stupid strip mall while my sperm donor just stood there and screamed at me that I would pay for it and that they would send me to the mental hospital where they knew I could be physically and sexually assaulted there. Cue Starbucks, where they still continued to take turns screaming in my face for purely existing. Then when we got into the car, they started blasting this horrible Eurotrash music and forced me to listen to it against my will, even screaming at me for even politely asking them to turn it off. Then when we came back to our hotel room at the time, they forced me tow wear one of those camis, the black one, in addition to a pair of capris for my former friend's wedding rehearsal dinner at the time and when I said that I didn't want to wear it, they screamed at me again, even saying among the lines of "Well, God gave us a girl and you will act like it!" Then they forced me to play happy family as soon as we arrived there.
So, I said "no" because I did not want to risk getting myself traumatized ever again!

Womp womp🎻 all of them peoples is evil Kobe, his parents, Vanessa, and her mama. There’s enough blame game for everyone especially Pam she got her karma back especially when she iced out Joes family just so she could have all of that money but he spiraled out and her next meal ticket was her son don’t give me that “they are turning against the black family!” Bs y’all love to pull all of them mfs are horrible and terrible people.
If she wouldn’t have tried to use her son as a meal ticket because her dumbass husband got caught with coke and spiraled out (that’s why they had to move to Italy) maybe they would still have a relationship with her money hungry ass idc if it was “immediate” family or not that man was not obligated and shouldn’t have had to have take care of grown ass people just cause he made it to the nba that’s bs that mentality is what leaves black people/ black athletes broke today always taking care of folks.
Same goes for Vanessa and her mama very unserious people her mama need to go ahead and spill the beans on her and get it over with stop coming with some dumb ass scandal every 2-3 years cause the money you had ran low with their stank asses always getting people fired cause stuff didn’t go their way V has been humbled and she will continue to get humbled for her nasty ways. The north remembers! With her stupid ass that man never loved her that’s why I’m lowkey waiting for the day she tries the wrong person and she gets her feelings hurt.
The only people I feel bad for is Gigi May her soul Rest In Peace Bianka and Capri (I would include Natalia but the way that anon said she don’t be in class rubs me the wrong way but V is her mama so she must have picked up some of her ways) but like I said all them mfs were/are wrong.
i definitely see where you’re coming from and perhaps it’s a cultural thing that we do need to leave behind to some, but i don’t think kids helping out their family in the future is a terrible thing. maybe the expectation can cause pressure and obvi that’s unhealthy, but why wouldn’t you wanna help make your family’s life easier? ofc you aren’t obligated to and parents shouldn’t expect it, but i feel like anybody would immediately want to? idk maybe that’s just me. but i didn’t know a lot of this so you’re right everyone is awful in their own way

Love this detail about Laurent
Tumblr media
He is okay with his soldiers knowing that Damen hit him — the untouchable prince of Vere. aka Damen is the only one who can hit him and get away with absolutely no repercussions.
Then he waits for the soldiers to leave the room and lock the door to tell Damen to get out. Like he won’t insult his boyfriend in front of his soldiers. NO WAY.
For all his nonchalant posturing, Laurent really acts like the possessive boyfriend, even when he is that mad.

Just Be a Good Sport
Dad!Chris Evans x Reader. 3rd POV. Word Count: 2.2k.
Summary: Chris is always up to something nefarious, but Y/n should've known that wearing that Summer dress was going to rile him up, even if they are at their daughter's softball practice.
Warnings: smut, semi-public sex, unprotected sex, oral (f receiving), MINORS DNI.
Tumblr media
Chris was good at being a softball dad. It’s his daughter's first year on the seemingly tight-knit local Summer softball team, and while his wife was anxious about navigating this, he was so intuitive with every decision made. He hit it off with the parents rather quickly and was popular with the kids since he was always ready with the juice boxes, snacks, and band aids for any minor injury. It was unsurprising to Y/n that he was really popular among the mothers of the team. Y/n doesn’t know how he does it sometimes, but he’s so charismatic that everything he does comes off as alluring.
Y/n didn’t expect Chris to make it to all of their daughter’s practice and neither did she. Her games were a give, he was always there, but with his job, Y/n didn’t expect him to come to her practices as much as he does.
Today was hot enough to leave Y/n somewhat irritated. One step outside before taking the kids to school and she knew that she was going to have to throw on one of her Summer dresses for comfort.
“You trying to seduce the coach so our girl can play more?” Chris joked as they left his mother’s house after dropping their son off. He teases her the entire walk back to the car but she can feel his eyes boring into her backside when she brushes him off and walks ahead of him.
Chris had made friends with some of the dads on the team. Sometimes she’d hear him on the phone with one of them talking about game strategies to take to the coach at the next practice. Y/n found it funny and at the same time ridiculous that they took this so seriously when it’s a pre-teen team. She just wants their daughter to have fun and makes friends instead of focusing on wins. However, their daughter is good. She is one of the younger girls on the team but when she plays she gives it her all. Chris told Y/n that his girl is a natural.
Y/n watched from the stands as the girls practiced. One of the moms’, Beth, kept her company.
“Is June going to Micah’s sleepover this Saturday?”
“That’s the plan. Junie’s been talking about it all week. Chris wanted to get with his family this weekend, but I think we might let June off the hook this time. All she has to do is flash those puppy eyes at Chris and he’ll give her permission to go in a heartbeat.”
The sun was beginning to lower in the sky which meant practice was almost over. It was Y/n and Chris’ turn to provide drinks for the team after practice today. He was always on top of it, but Y/n realized she forgot to grab the last box of Capri Suns from the car.
“Shit. I’ll talk to you after practice Beth — gotta go get something from the car.” Y/n walked away without waiting for a response from Beth. She mentally scolded herself because the drinks won’t have enough time in the cooler before practice ends.
Chris, who was watching his wife from his spot with the fathers, sees Y/n slink off in the direction of the parking lot. He excuses himself and goes to follow her.
The trunk of their SUV was open and Y/n was bent over. Her dress kept rising up each time she reached into the car. It was obvious she was looking for something, but Chris was too distracted by the position she’s in. He can’t help but get hard of the sight of her bent over. It’s so innocuous but the back of her thighs look so smooth and soft. He’s tempted right now, even if they’re at their daughter’s softball practice.
Y/n is failing to find that stupid box of juices when she feels a hand coming up her thighs. She gasps in shock when her dress is lifted over her ass and she feels the breeze against her skin. Much to Chris' surprise, she wasn’t wearing any underwear. The only time she did that was when they’d have date nights with each other and she wanted to fuck in the car afterwards. Her excuse is probably that it was too hot to wear them, but he honestly doesn’t care about her reasoning; he just admires how good her ass looks while she’s bent over.
“It’s just me,” Chris’ voice pacifies her and she relaxes just for a moment before realizing her ass is exposed.
“What are you doing?”
“I could ask you the same thing.”
“I’m looking for a box of grape Capri Sun.”
“They’re already in the cooler,” Chris begins to rub her ass with both hands. He squeezes her ass while she’s in this compromising position, “I knew you’d forget, silly girl.”
Y/n tries to get up but a hand presses into her back which keeps her down.
“Chris-“
“Shh — there’s no need to rush.”
Y/n feels his bulge press up against her ass and she knows exactly what he’s doing.
“We’re in public Chris.”
“We’re parked behind the hedges, no one’s gonna see us baby. Why do you think I parked all the way over here today?”
He begins to rub himself harder against her. Y/n hates herself from getting wet from his grinding, probably staining his shorts with her arousal.
“If I’d known you weren’t wearing anything under this dress I would have fucked you before we left the house…would’ve told the kids we forget something in the house just so I could talk you in the kitchen and fuck you on the counter.”
Y/n bites back a moan. Chris is always so devious but she can’t resist her husband. He quickly takes himself out of his pants, his cock hard and ready to be inside of her wet pussy. He taps the head against her wet slit before pushing inside of her. Both sigh at their connection when he’s fully sheathed inside of her.
“Gotta be quick baby,” his voice is almost a whine because her pussy just feels so warm and wet wrapped around him. He places his hands on her hip just to have the control of moving her on his length, “fucking look at that — pussy is gripping me so tight,” he grunts.
His wife feels amazing wrapped around him; walls so silky and always wet just for him. As much as he wants to take his time feeling all of her, it’s too risky to take the time to be sweet to her.
Chris wouldn’t be able to hold back anyway, not when she’s this hot and squeezing his fat cock. He drags her back onto his cock over and over again. His perfect wife, with the perfect pussy she always gives to him. Her wet hole squelches around him as his balls slap against her clit. He really wants to finish what they started this morning, before they were interrupted by their son who is currently at grandma’s house.
“So fucking good Y/n — my perfect little wife bending over for me like a slut,” he pants.
“Don’t stop Chris!”
As much as he loves hearing her moaning, hearing her crying out his name in pleasure, she’s too loud for the setting they’re in.
“Shh baby,” he nudges her face against one of the extra blankets in the back of the car, “bite down on the blanket…can’t get caught.”
She promptly obeys, not wanting him to pull out of her and leave her wet and needy. She can tell that Chris is bracing her, and himself, to pound into her. He pushes in deep, the head of his cock kissing her depths.
Y/n is grateful that Chris directed her to bite the blanket because her husband pulls out of her half-way only to thrust into her with nothing but the sole intention of cumming inside of her. Her walls flutter around him as she grunts into the blanket. He’s mesmerized by the movement of her ass jiggling against him. Their skin slapping together and Chris’ low grunting is the only sound that comes from them.
“I feel how tight that pussy is…you better cum before someone finds you getting railed like this,” he taunts. The thought of one of the parents catching them sends a shiver down Y/n’s spine. Her husband makes her feel so dirty yet it sends a thrilling jolt through her. It’s so wrong, hanging out of the trunk of their family SUV while getting her pussy obliterated, but she’s so close to cumming. She even begins to thrust back against him, his dick spearing her open.
Chris is just seconds from teetering over the edge. He loves how nasty he can get his wife to be. He just wants to cum inside of her; taking a risk in both making a mess and another thing.
“Where should I cum? On your ass?”
She shakes her head no.
“On your pretty face?”
She shakes her head no again, this time with a whine. She’d die of embarrassment if he made a mess of her face and she didn’t clean it all up.
“Oh, you want my cum inside of you, don’t you?” My slut wife needs me to fill her pussy.”
Y/n whines at the thought of Chris flooding her pussy. She always loves to feel his warm cum splashing inside of her, sticking to her walls, and making her a sticky mess. His cock pulses inside of her and the ridges stroke her insides. She purposefully squeezes his cock, knowing that him cumming inside of her is going to make her cum too.
“Fuck! I’ll give you all the cum your pussy is begging for.”
Chris’ voice weakens as he fucks into the pussy he loves so much. Her hands have a bruising grip on her hips, and as much as the pain makes her winces, Y/n loves it. He moves one hand to the small of her back which drives her wild. The small touches hold the most intimacy in them that make Y/n’s weak in the knees.
Chris’s thrust gets sloppy as he begins to slow down, just seconds away from cumming inside of his wife. He comes to a complete halt as he empties inside of her. He’s in heaven when she begins to cum around him and bathe his cock in her cum; he could stay inside of her forever. The only thing that’s missing is her moaning his name. Her cries are still muffled by the blanket although it’s starting to slip from her mouth.
In the distance Chris can hear the coach blowing the whistle, signaling the end of practice.
“Fuck,” Chris watches himself pull out of her slowly. Instantly the mess they created comes flowing out of her. Seeing the mix of their cum seeping out of her makes him want to push his cock back in, but he can’t get himself riled up again. Instead he falls to his knees and presses his face into her sex. Her thighs tremble as his tongue swipes against her slit. Y/n reaches back and presses his face deeper into her pussy. She’s sensitive, but doesn’t care because his tongue feels too good.
He licks up her mess before pulling away. Some of their cum rolls down her lips and Chris sticks his tongue out to run it up her thigh.
“Oh god,” she sighs without the obstruction of the towel in her mouth. She’s completely content and happy that her husband convinced her to let him fuck her. His wet tongue licking up their mess makes her shiver.
Chris stands up and pulls Y/n up with him. He turns her around and kisses her. It’s too little time to process anything but his lips make her melt. She can taste their mix of each other on his lips and it’s intoxicating.
“Our daughter is probably wondering where her parents are,” he says between kisses.
Y/n still needs to catch her breath from how wild the last five minutes of her life were. She probably looks a mess and unpresentable to be around anyone else. Chris tries to fix her hair after they finish kissing, but the remnants of their time together still linger on her face. As long as no one stares at her face, she can get away with the slightly smudged make-up and the indent from the blanket’s seams on her cheek.
Chris runs his thumb softly over the indentation on her skin. He can’t help but get lost staring at her face.
“Chris, we gotta go back.”
“I know, I know — I just like looking at my wife’s face,” he says softly. He admires how good she looks, “you’re just such a beautiful baby.”
“God you get so sappy after you cum,” Y/n giggles before giving him a quick kiss.
They two walk back together and Y/n just sighs. No matter the circumstances or where they are, she’s always going to give in to her husband’s advances. Chris has a way of persuading her with that charming smile and sparkle in his eyes. She wishes she could be stronger when his hands come snaking up her body, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Stuck with You
Words: 5.5k
Summary: A winter storm strands a desperate-to-return-to-Chicago Ian at the airport with no car. A dark-haired mysterious man in an expensive-looking leather jacket and sunglasses seems to be his only hope. Ian grows suspicious of the man's true intentions as they embark on their road trip with some funky excursions. The two men find what need they most in each other.
Tumblr media
"Fiona, I'm literally at the gate. I'm about to board now!" Ian was lying straight out of his ass as he was running through the bustling airport, dragging his bag as fast as the bent-as-all-hell wheels on the suitcase would allow him. He had not, in fact, woken up to his first alarm... or second. Maybe he was running extremely late despite Fiona's near-constant nagging to get there early in case something happens again.
Ian mumbled a quiet "Fuck" as his suitcase's wheel locked up again. He did not have time for this. His huffed cursing was apparently heard by Fiona's supersonic hearing. A woman in white capris glared his way. Okay, maybe it wasn't that quiet.
"Ian!" Fiona's voice rang through his phone. She sounded frantic and exhausted. She had every right to be, but Ian was not in the mood for an early morning guilt trip. "What happened? And you better stop fuckin' lying to me and get your ass-"
"Fi, I gotta go, love you, talk to you later, promise," he mumbled all the formalities as genuinely as he could muster before he hung up. He had tuned his attention into his surroundings and noticed an absurd about of people hovered around the rent-a-car station while the airport gates nearly empty, except for the occasional airport employees trying to reason with irritated passengers.
Sure enough, something did happen, as Fiona would have happily predicted. There was a massive winter storm and all flights had been delayed until further notice. Ian idly walked to his gate just to make sure he wasn't going to miss his plane like he had the day before. The gate was a fuckin' ghost town besides one man in an expensive-looking studded leather jacket and shiny dark hair to match. His eyes were hidden behind a pair of purple sunglasses, despite the fact that they were currently indoors.
Ian instinctively stepped closer to the man to maybe strike up a conversation. It wasn't something he was so fond of doing, but if he was trapped at an airport, he might as well make friends. Anything to distract his anxious thoughts about not making it back to Chicago in time for his interview. He couldn't even look at his phone, knowing Fiona was probably blowing it up right now about how he has to get his shit together. He knows.
In the midst of his inner debate, Ian oh-so-gracefully tripped over a chair -- the wheels of his suitcase coming to a halt, causing the bag to loudly clang against a nearby pole.
The man jumped up with a startle, yanking off his glasses and swiftly reaching into his boot and pulling out a small knife. He slowly took in the fact that there was no threat -- just a giant blushing ginger wincing at the knife pointed his direction.
The man sighed and tucked his knife away, "Shit, I thought you were trying to rob me or something."
Ian eyed a small black backpack tucked behind the man's legs. That bag was sleek and tiny compared to Ian's nightmare of a bag.
"Ain't look like you got much to steal," Ian joked, immediately regretting his decision to be witty after literally just being held at knifepoint. Maybe the mysterious man would appreciate his charm.
The man frowned. Okay, maybe Ian's humor wasn't for everyone.
"And how did you get that knife through security?" Ian asked in attempt to ease the tension a bit.
"None of your damn business." The man retorted shortly, but his eyes lingered over Ian for a moment longer, amused.
"Right." Ian replied after a moment. That was fair. He was a stranger, after all. But there was something about this man that was so intriguing. The man stood nearly half a foot shorter than Ian and clearly had the personality to make up for it. Ian was most definitely not in the mood to almost get stabbed again so he decided to lay off the talking, making an obvious show of adverting his gaze from the gorgeous leather-clad man in front of him.
"Uh.. hey," the man spoke up again as he looked around the terminal. "Did I miss the flight or did everyone just get abducted by aliens or some shit?"
Ian was amused at the aliens bit. Who even was this guy?
"It looks like all flights are delayed. Some freak super-storm coming in, don't want any crashes or anything."
"Buncha pussies," the dark-haired man grumbled as he stood up.
"Where are you going?" Shut up, Ian, shut up shut up shut up.
"Rent-a-car? Is that okay with you?" The guy pulled his bag over his shoulder, but turned his gaze back to Ian.
"Uh, yeah, I mean -- sorry, never mind." Nice going, Ian.
"I'm just busting your balls, man. Just gotta get back to Chicago before the weekend. Can't just sit around like a little bitch and wait for a storm to pass like some people." The enigmatic man teased him.
Ian rolled his eyes, but followed him like a lost puppy. "You're not the only one. I have an interview in Chicago in two days and I really can't miss it." Ian pointed back towards the rent-a-car area when the man didn't question him any further. "Don't think you'll have much luck with that, by the way. They looked almost sold outta cars when I walked past here earlier."
"So you walked past the rent-a-car instead of actually getting one? Real smart, Stumbles."
Ian cringed at the nickname. So much for first impressions. The man pulled out his phone from the tight pocket of his pants and stopped abruptly, Ian almost losing his balance to keep from stumbling into the guy. Again. Ian was literally swept up off his feet by this dude. He had to get himself in control before he lost what remained of his dignity.
"Ey' Dimitri, I need a car." The guy said into the phone. Ian awkwardly waited around. It wasn't like they made any plans of travelling together but they were in the middle of a conversation, he couldn't just leave. It wouldn't be polite. Not that much about this guy was polite to begin with. But they had something going at least. The phone conversation got heated very quickly. Now Ian could very clearly see why he was the type of person to have a knife in arm's reach at any given notice.
"I know you have fuckin' plenty. I'll drop it off next time I see Yevgeny, you know I'm good for it. I gotta job this weekend- It is your fuckin' business when your bitch of a wife- Oh c'mon, you can admit she's a bit of a bitch. Whatever- Or do you wanna tell Svetlana that your incompetent ass is the reason why she ain't getting her payment- or do you plan on paying for that shit? Didn't think so. Black cat. Red one."
There was definitely a lot to unpack and as curious as Ian was, he was definitely not gonna ask... yet.
"Red, you comin'?" The dark-haired man called over his shoulder as he started heading towards the airport's exit.
"Me?" Way to play it cool, Ian.
"No. The other giant ginger standing behind you. Yes, you."
"My name's Ian, by the way."
"Don't care."
"Where are we going?"
"Chicago."
--
Together but not together, they waited for... Dimitri, maybe? The shorter man beside Ian was tapping around on his phone and hadn't said a word about their plans beyond the simple 'Chicago.'
Right as Ian got the nerve to ask, a sleek black jaguar came to a halt on the street in front of them. Ian only knew a bit about cars because his brother liked fixing them up -- and man, was this a sick car. Lip would be jealous. Ian fought the urge to take a photo of the car -- unsure what the boundaries were in situations like this.
Ian's mystery man sauntered over to the driver's seat, exchanging a loaded handshake before switching places with the driver, who was apparently not Dimitri.
The passenger side window rolled down, revealing a bright red interior. "Coming, princess?"
Ian placed his suitcase in the backseat before hopping in the front himself.
"Do I ever get to know your name, princess?" Ian teased back. But he was genuinely curious.
The guy smirked, "Buckle up. I ain't slowing down for anything." And true to his word, they sped out of the parking lot, earning a few well-deserved horns from cars that they had cut off. Ian cringed.
--
Ian waited until they were on the interstate to speak again, not wanting to be the cause for an accident with this guy's hectic driving and the snow lightly falling on the road in front of them. Maybe he shouldn't be getting into cars with mysterious strangers. Maybe he should have thought of that before he did, in fact, get into a car with a mysterious stranger.
Ian decided to try again, "Ya know, if you don't tell me your name, I'm just going to start calling you something real stupid, like Bob or Cookie or Raven."
"Raven is actually kinda badass." The man replied, not taking his eyes off the road, but the side of his mouth quirking upward.
This guy was impossible, "Ugh."
"Ya know, you're kind of annoying for a passenger who should be grateful that I'm saving your ass. I could dump you on the side of the road, make you hitch hike all the way to Chicago or wherever the hell you end up. Probably some real weirdos out there wanting to pick up a pretty boy like you."
"Didn't ask to be saved." Ian blushed despite his best efforts to play it cool.
"No? So you were just following me all around the airport, why?" He glanced at Ian this time.
Yeah, he had a point. "Like I said, I got an interview I can't miss. My sister set it up for me and she would actually have my ass if I fucked this up. I'm talking like this-is-the-final-straw." Ian sighed, running his hands up and down his face.
"Hmm. You'll make it. I'm a good driver." He smirked. He lifted his hand off the wheel as if he were about to touch Ian's shoulder or something, but decided against it at the last second.
"Good and fast are not equivalent." Ian's breath hitched.
"Says you." The guy drummed his fingers.
"Says most people. And probably the cops." Ian was not about to spend a night in the slammer.
"Fuck the cops." He said like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Yeah."
The conversation died down and a rock ballad lulled over the car's exquisite sound system. Damn, this was a nice car.
"Mickey." The guy murmured, barely audible over the bass.
"What?" Like the mouse?
"My name's Mickey, by the way." He glanced over at Ian.
Oh. "Kinda badass." Ian returned with eye contact a smirk.
Mickey smiled at the road ahead of them.
--
"Mornin', Sleeping Beauty." Mickey called out from the driver's seat, patting Ian's shoulder. Ian could have sworn Mickey's hand lingered a bit longer than necessary, but maybe he was just reading into the interaction.
Ian must have fallen asleep sometime during the drive, because now they were parking in the parking lot of a diner. Red neon lights highlighted the exterior, giving the place a sultry vibe. Odd vibe for an off-the-road diner, but Ian supposed it could be weirder.
Mickey hopped out of the car and shoved his hands into the pocket in his leather jacket, searching for something.
After a moment, Ian slowly stretched his legs out as he crawled out of the car and found Mickey smoking a cigarette while leaning against the hood of the car. It was picture perfect. Mickey hadn't noticed him emerge yet, so Ian decided to give into his urges as he snapped a picture of the beautiful man in front of him -- all black shadows and glowing red.
Ian closed the car door and Mickey stubbed out his cigarette and led them inside. "Usual table," he said to the hostess, who led them to a table set for two towards the back of the establishment.
Yeah, this was weird. Who the fuck had a 'usual table' at a joint off the highway in the middle of nowhere?
Inside hung the heads of exotic animals that Ian hoped were fake. Once they were sat across from each other, Mickey ordered a short stack of pancakes and Ian ordered a hamburger and fries -- the first thing he saw on the menu.
"So, brunch and tigers? What is this place?" Ian mused, curiosity and now suspicion overtaking him.
"Cool, huh? Got connections." Mickey went back to rearranging the condiments and sugars on their table.
"Mhm." Ian was skeptical, but didn't want to pry. He seemed to be on this guy's good side for now.
Ian spent the better part of their stay just taking in everything around them. The walls were lined with playing cards, posters from bands he's never heard of, bizarre news articles, lights swung and tacked up with a casual precision, literal jewelry and crowns under display cases, and he could've sworn there was sparkles mixed into the red paint covering the walls. It was like a goblin's cave or something.
Occasionally, he would look up at Mickey, who would look away almost instantly -- like he'd been caught in the middle of something. Planning something? Ian couldn't tell if Mickey's cheeks were actually blushing red or if it was just the lighting. Probably for the best because Ian blushed like a motherfucker whenever he held Mickey's eyes for too long.
Luckily, the waitress brought over their food before Ian could say something stupid. Ian's hamburger and fries were places in a classic red boat with black and white checkered paper. The burger was massive and had a flamingo pick placed in the center of it. Mickey's pancakes were covered in bananas, blueberries, and powdered sugar. The waitress also set down a glass elephant bottle filled with, what looked like, maple syrup. The waitress just smiled at them and walked away without another word. This place was strange. And Ian couldn't shake that feeling.
About halfway through eating, Ian had enough of the odd vibes and promptly excused himself to go to the bathroom. He had to get out of here, forgo his luggage in the fancy ass car. He didn't care if he'd have to hitch hike at this point. He washed his hands in the bathroom sink, planning when to make his escape, when the door swung open.
"Ian." Mickey looked genuinely concerned. No stupid nickname. Ian. "What's wrong, man? You looked pretty sick back there. Is it food poisoning? I'll give Anakin a fuckin' piece of my mind if he didn't cook that fuckin' burger. He knows better than to fuck with me." He rattled off.
Ian felt flighty and tried to take off during Mickey's rage-induced ramble but an arm gripped his bicep, stopping him in his tracks.
"Hey, Ian, look at me." That was the problem. Ian couldn't stop looking at him. He would probably do anything he asked. And that was fucking dangerous. He was a stranger with connections. That couldn't lead to anything good.
Ian finally made eye contact and the grip on his arm loosened, gently sliding towards his wrist before falling back to Mickey's side.
"Promise me you won't kill me." Ian blurted out.
Mickey's eyebrows nearly flew off his face, "Kill you? Where the fuck is this coming from? You think I hate you or something?"
"Well, maybe, I don't know. This is weird."
"Maybe." Mickey paused, actually making an effort to see this whole strange situation from Ian's perspective. "But I like weird."
Ian stayed silent.
"I promise I'm not going to kill you. I promise that I'm going to get you back to Chicago for your interview. I promise we're all good, okay?"
The tension in Ian's shoulder's visibly relaxed and he released a breath he didn't know he had been holding. But that confession still doesn't explain this weird excursion.
"Why does everyone here know you?" Ian finally asked, swallowing his nerves.
This was not a conversation for the men's bathroom, but here they were anyways.
Mickey looked a bit embarrassed. "Used to live a few towns over with my ex-wife-"
"Ex-wife?" Ian nearly choked.
"Svetlana. Fuckin' disaster. But I used to come here with my son, Yev, on special occasions when his mom was out. He always loved it -- thought he was the king or some shit."
"Oh."
"Don't see the kid as much anymore, but this place still has the best fuckin' pancakes so we go when we can."
"So this isn't a sting operation to kidnap me?"
Mickey rolled his eyes, "You're an idiot. I actually happen to like you."
"Yeah, me too."
"So glad you like yourself, champ."
"Oh, fuck me." Ian groaned.
"Maybe later." Mickey smiled too sweetly for someone who had just insinuated what they had.
They returned to their table, finishing off what they could. Mickey had insisted he pay for both of their meals -- reparation for nearly giving Ian a heart attack and fleeing off to fucking Mexico or something. The waitress collected their tab and walked away with a wink, "Have fun tonight, boys."
"See ya 'round, Geneva." Mickey called, "Always in my fuckin' business." But Ian could tell it was meant with nothing but fondness.
Mickey held gave a two finger salute to the hostess on his way out before holding the lion-studded doors and turning to face Ian, "We're in this together, yeah?"
"Yeah."
--
Ian didn't fall asleep in the car this time. Instead, they played the license plate game and carried impersonal conversation in between stops at gas stations and fast food restaurants.
--
"Books or movies?" Ian read from his phone.
"What kind of fuckin' question is that?"
"From the online list you made me look up!"
"Yeah, because you suck at coming up with questions!"
"Whatever. Books or movies?"
"Movies, duh."
"Aw, c'mon, you don't like books? When was the last time you even read a book?"
Mickey flipped him off, "What about you, smartass? You prefer books over movies?"
"Well, no..."
"Well, exactly."
--
"Cats or dogs?" Ian asked. "I've never had either, but dogs are cool."
"Yeah, 'cause you act like one."
Ian gasped, mocking an expression of hurt. "I bet you're a dog person, though."
"Yeah, why're you so sure about that?"
"They're all tough and shit."
"I got a cat back home. She's tougher than any dog I know."
"What's her name?"
"Indy."
"Aw, softy."
"It's short for Indica, clearly we're cool."
Ian gave an even more exaggerated "Aww."
"Shut up, next question."
--
They had missed the worst of the winter storm that had threatened their flight and gotten them in this situation to begin with. It was starting to get dark and while Mickey assured Ian that he could drive through the night, Ian insisted they could stop at a hotel and still make it back before his interview. Truthfully, he didn't want to be involved in a luxury car crash with a maybe Russian mobster. He couldn't pinpoint Mickey, but that's what he had currently decided on.
They had pulled off into the lot of a pink hotel. Mickey had gotten them two rooms, side-by-side. Instead of going up to his room and passing out like Ian had expected, Mickey headed straight towards the hotel bar -- ordering a mojito and a vodka tonic and making friendly talk with the waitress in a very low cut red shirt like they were old friends. Mickey was nothing like Ian expected.
Ian headed up to his room to drop off his suitcase and call Fiona back, sure she was going to disown him right then and there for avoiding her calls all day.
--
Ian opted against going down to the bar and instead watched reruns on the hotel tv. Alcohol didn't really mix well with his meds and he didn't want a hangover if they were going to be in a car all day tomorrow -- especially a nice car like that. Yeah, he wasn't puking in that anytime soon if he could help it.
He took a long, hot shower, indulging in the hotel's eucalyptus-scented body wash before settling in for the night.
Ian was resting peacefully until he heard a blood-curdling scream next door. Mickey was next door. Mickey.
Ian leapt out of bed, grabbing nothing but his shirt before frantically knocking on Mickey's door. C'mon Mickey, don't be dead. C'mon. C'mon.
Mickey swung open the door rubbing sleep from his eyes, "Ian?"
"Uh, hi. I heard screaming. Just making sure you're not being murdered."
"Shit, yeah. I get night terrors sometimes. I meant to mention that to you, but it must have slipped my mind after a few drinks. Didn't see you down there?"
"I called it an early night," Ian replied guiltily. He felt bad if Mickey was waiting for him. But he didn't know.
"Yeah... anything else?" Mickey looked Ian up and down. Ian was suddenly hyper aware he was standing in front of Mickey in only his boxers.
"Um, no." Ian glanced around nervously.
"Great." Mickey shut the door. Whatever. Ian turned to open his door, but it wouldn't open. He searched his pants for the key card only to be reminded that he was not, in fact, wearing pants. Fucking great indeed.
Ian knocked on Mickey's door again.
"What?" He grumbled with a tooth pick between his teeth. "'m not fuckin' screamin' anymore."
"I locked myself out."
"Of course you did." Mickey rubbed a hand down his face, "You ain't goin' down to the front desk in your underwear and I'm not goin' down there either so it looks like you can either come with me or sleep in the hallway, your choice."
Some choice.
Ian followed Mickey into his room, the same layout as Ian's -- just mirrored. Mickey tossed a blanket at him and then collapsed back into the pillows himself.
Ian tried to make himself comfortable on the ground but all he was going to do was bruise his fuckin' spine and freeze his ass off because apparently Mickey likes to sleep in Antarctica.
"Fuckin' cold." Ian mumbled, cocooned in his one tiny hotel-grade blanket that hardly covered his long body.
Mickey didn't open his eyes, but he lifted the comforter on the bed, "Get in here, Frosty."
Ian hesitated. But he was really fucking cold. He made sure not to touch Mickey at all as he crawled under the covers, laying as still as he could on the edge of the mattress. Mickey sighed and scooted his back into Ian's chest, grabbed Ian's arm, and draped it around his waist. "There."
Ian was still for a moment before settling into the warmth.
"Mickey." He said softly. He wasn't even sure if Mickey had heard him.
"What?"
"Is that your real name? Mickey?"
Mickey sighed, "Mikhailo."
"Hmm. I like Mikhailo. It's like Mick-halo, like you're an angel."
"Baby, you've met me. There ain't nothing good about me. I'm more like the devil."
"Why's that?"
"Dude, I almost knifed you when we first met."
"I had that coming, though."
"Maybe so."
"Is that all?"
"Fuckin' terrorized my neighborhood as a kid."
"Me too, you ain't special. Got anything else?"
"I'm a raging homo."
Ian rolled his eyes. "Me too. Anything else?"
"Can't do enough for my own kid."
Ian was quiet so Mickey continued.
"Svet won't keep him in Chicago where my job is. I don't wanna be the asshole to choose work over my kid, but I can't just up and leave, either."
"Yeah, but it sounds like you visit him a lot. He must know you love him, though. Bet you're a better father than mine."
"Yeah, mine too. Ain't hard to beat. He's a real dick. I don't wanna be anything like that piece of shit."
Ian squeezing his grip around Mickey's waist. "You're not. I'm still betting you're all things good."
"Hmm."
"Guess we'll just have to see."
"Guess so."
A moment passed before Mickey spoke again.
"Go to sleep, stupid."
"Goodnight, Mick-halo."
Ian nestled his head into Mickey's hair, smelling the eucalyptus on his as well. The two not-strangers drifted off together.
--
Ian woke up after Mickey, who was already packing up his oddly tiny back pack again. And Ian's suitcase. He took a moment to recall last night's events.
"How the fuck did you get that?"
"Morning to you, too." Mickey tossed a prepacked muffin at Ian's half asleep body. "Went to the front desk for a spare key after continental breakfast, duh. Eat up, we're leaving in 10."
Ian groaned and pulled the covers over his head. He felt a weight on the mattress beside him. He peeked from behind the blanket to see that Mickey had sat down and was currently staring at his legs? Ass? Who knew. Turns out 'thighs' was the correct answer as he set his hand on the outer part of Ian's right thigh. Just resting it there for a moment before getting up.
"Fine, we're leaving in 15."
Satisfied, Ian closed his eyes for a few minutes, feeling the ghost of Mickey on his leg. He was so warm. It was like his heart was on fire.
--
They ended up leaving 10 minutes after Mickey's initial 15 were up. But it wasn't Ian's fault that there was a hold-up at the front desk. Something about a scheduling conflict between a drag show and a speech contest. Hell, Mickey thought they should combine the two events and call it a day.
Back in the car, Mickey had some upbeat indie music playing this morning while they circled around the old town to find a gas station.
"Ya want anything?" Mickey asked before he turned away from the pump and towards the building, patting down his ass to make sure he had his wallet.
Ian was distracted by the patting for a moment before replying. "Uh, maybe a Gatorade or something?"
Mickey tapped the hood of the car twice instead of replying verbally, but the message was received nonetheless.
Ian pulled up the picture he had taken yesterday of Mickey in front of the bizarre diner, moments before he thought he was being hunted for sport. It was beautiful. He was beautiful.
After a moment, the driver's side door swung open, "Whatcha lookin' at, Smiles? Texting your girlfriend?" Mickey teased as he closed the gas tank and hopped in with a coffee balancing in one hand and three different flavors of Gatorade in the other.
"Nothing." Damn, Ian. Like that ain't an obvious lie.
"Ain't nothing, lemme see." Mickey took Ian's phone and dropped the Gatorades on his lap.
"Ouch! Well, thanks -- for these -- but give me my phone back!"
"Is that me?"
No sense in lying now. He was literally looking at it. "Uh, yeah. Thought it looked cool."
"That's dope as fuck, man. Send that shit to me, I wanna post it on my Instagram."
Ian certainly hadn't expected that response. But when had Mickey ever been what he expected?
"I don't have your number." And he wasn't asking for his number like some school girl. Mickey had literally requested he send him something. Ian had no idea why he felt so ridiculously nervous.
"Gimme." Mickey made grabby hands for the phone and began to plug in his number before Ian realized that this definitely counted as distracted driving in a very nice car. "Done."
Done.
--
The morning and afternoon went by pretty quickly. Mickey sang along to some pop songs while drumming his hands on the steering wheel. Ian took some photos of the inside of the car, earning some light teasing from Mickey. Shut up, this might be my only time in a car worth more than ten grand.
Ian watched the highway and the grass blurring past his window when he suddenly remembered the small notepad and pen he had swiped from Mickey's hotel room.
Mickey looked pretty distracted, so Ian took it out and began to sketch his profile. The man was too beautiful. He couldn't help himself. With a burst of confidence, he added a note to it before ripping the page out and sticking it in the side pocket of Mickey's back pack. If Mickey saw him, he didn't say anything -- for once -- and Ian was glad for that.
--
They were nearing Illinois state lines, so they had to get into travel specifics. Ian gave him the address to his apartment. Both being Southside, Mickey knew the area well enough that he wouldn't need directions until last minute.
Ian figured now was as good as time as any to ask, "What are you doing in Chicago?"
Mickey made a face like he was thinking about how much he wanted to explain to Ian. "Well, for one, I live there. Second, you've seen my tattoos right?" He held out his knuckles reading FUCK U-UP. Ian nodded and Mickey relaxed one hand back onto the steering wheel before continuing, "Tattoos were a family ritual. I help my brothers on runs when they need it -- those idiots can't plan for shit by themselves. Makes good money though. I also work part-time at this high-end restaurant downtown. Satisfies my sister that I have a legit job. Ain't too bad either. Lotta sketchy shit goes on, though, but they know I'm good to look the other way for a low low price." He grinned.
"Damn, you sure are something," Ian mused.
"Yup yup. What about you hot-shot? What's the whole deal with this interview?"
Ian sighed. "Never finished high school and uh, I have a mood disorder thing so a lot of places won't even consider me. Got fired from my last job for snapping at the dickhead manager --which was well-deserved by the way -- but still stupid. My sister, Fiona, got me this interview with the magazine company she works for -- she thinks I'm so sick like our mother and that if I don't have a job to keep me stable that I'll just fuck off. But the job would be really cool because I've been into photography and shit since like forever. I don't know, it's stupid. But I really just can't stand to let anyone down again, because I am better. They just don't always believe me."
Mickey frowned, and Ian worried he shared too much. But then Mickey rested his hand on Ian's thigh, "Hey, man. That sounds cool. But it's okay to not be okay. Just be honest with me, and I believe you. Promise?"
"Promise."
--
Ian's apartment was in sight before he knew it. It was starting to get dark out, but he would still be able to get a good night's sleep before his interview in the morning. Mickey's car definitely did not belong in his neighborhood. It stood out like a sore thumb. He couldn't stay for long if he wanted to leave with the car in tact.
Mickey helped Ian get his suitcase out of the backseat and then leaned against the car, watching Ian with a strange look in his eye. Before Ian could ask, Mickey stalked over to him and leaned up, and pressed his lip's against Ian's. He smelled so sweet. It wasn't the eucalyptus shampoo either -- that had long faded. This was just pure Mickey. Mikhailo.
The moment was over too soon and Ian groaned. Mickey gently patted his cheek, "Don't worry, big guy, you ain't gettin' rid of me this easy. I'll see you soon."
"Soon." Ian repeated back, still a bit dazed in the head.
Mickey smirked as he hopped back into the jaguar and sped off to wherever the fuck it is that Mickey goes.
Ian lugged his bag upstairs, unlocked his door, and plopped down on the couch.
Soon.
--
After texting Fiona one last time, Ian had turned his phone off to avoid any distractions. Giving in to the urge to text Mickey would definitely be a distraction. He needed routine. At least for tonight.
It was a relatively quiet night in terms of activities. He had microwaved a frozen dinner and watched a couple episodes of Schitt's Creek before taking his meds, brushing his teeth, and heading to bed.
No matter how chill of a night he was planning on having, his mind kept racing with thoughts of Mickey with everything he did. That man was so cool and funny and kind, even if he didn't believe it himself. Ian didn't know what exactly had caused such a reign of self-doubt over him, but they would talk about it someday. Ian wanted him to see how good he was. Mickey just brought long-vanished excitement to Ian's life again. He trusted him and cared for him. And he missed him. They had only spent two days together, but Ian couldn't imagine sleeping without him. He drifted off to sleep thinking about what Mickey would look like in his bed with him.
Ian had gotten up at his first alarm for once and arrived to the interview 15 minutes early. He was genuinely passionate about this job so it was easy to turn up his charm. He would hear a call back later that afternoon, but given that he was pretty sure Fiona was sleeping with his would-be boss's boss, he was almost certain he would get the job.
Ian finally turned his phone on when he got home. One message from Fiona -- reminding him of the interview. But more importantly, three from Mickey. He immediately clicked on Mickey's name, absolutely no use in playing it cool anymore. He couldn't get him out of his head.
Mickey (9:27pm): *image attachment*
Tumblr media
Mickey (9:27pm): found this in my bag, i wonder how it got there🤔
Mickey (7:32am): good luck at your interview! hope it was worth literally dragging your ass across the country for
Ian smiled.
Ian (10:06am): I have absolutely no idea how that drawing got there. Maybe trolls? 😇
Ian (10:07am): And your luck helped! I think the interviewer liked me :)
Mickey (10:07am): hopefully he didnt like you too much
Ian (10:09am): SHE liked me a very healthy amount.
Mickey (10:10am): gonna keep it that way
Ian (10:12am): 🙄 Oh Mick. Can't be jealous over something you don't have.
Mickey (10:15am): i have you right where i want you dont you worry your pretty little head
Ian (10:17am): So you think I'm pretty is what I'm hearing?
Mickey (10:18am): i think your annoying go away
Ian (10:19am): I thought I couldn't get rid of you that easy?
Mickey (10:19am): changed my fucking mind
--
Their texting banter came to a halt when Mickey picked up a shift at his legitimate job. Ian unpacked his ratty old suitcase and cleaned up his apartment while he waited for his phone to ring. From the job... from Mickey.
--
Right when he was switching loads of laundry, his phone rang. It would be a lie if he said he didn't drop everything and run.
It was his new boss him on his new job. He couldn't hold back his grin as he immediately texted Mickey, then Fiona. He was proud of himself.
Fiona called and they chatted about the job -- omitting the part where he assumed she was sleeping with the boss -- and Ian's road trip -- omitting the part where he kissed his once assumed kidnapper -- and then about Fiona's kids and Carl's lately stunt. He was so invested in his little criminal brother that he almost didn't hear the knock at his door.
"Fi, I gotta call you back. I think I have a delivery or something." Ian wasn't expecting anything.
Ian nearly leapt backwards when he cautiously opened his door (there were no damn peepholes in his building) to find Mickey waiting on his doormat with a grin on his face. "Congrats on the job, man!"
"Oh my God. You're here?"
"Yeah, I told you I would see you soon. I'm a man of my word. And I brought cupcakes." Always the unexpected. "Well minus one. I didn't know which apartment was yours and I went to your neighbor's first and he wouldn't tell me where you lived without a fuckin' cupcake. Greedy asshole." He murmured, quietly smiting the old bastard.
"Mickey." Ian smiled, eyes crinkling with it. "You're good. You're so good."

On A Tropical Island
Jaune: Great. Just great. Now I’m lost and all my friends are missing too! I’m too angry to be depressed!
Neo: *Head pops out of the sand, spitting it everywhere*
Jaune: Oh, even better. Now I have company. This can’t possibly get any worse! *Ignores Neo glaring*
-----------------
Jaune: Stop following me! You’re a bad girl!
Neo: *Cocks eyebrow*
Jaune: *Blushes* Not what I meant! I mean you’re evil! And all you’ve done to help so far is poke me with a stick! *Is poked with a stick* Dammit, stop that!
Neo: *Pokes him in the butt instead*
Jaune: OW! That’s not what I meant you menace!
Neo: *Preens at being called a menace*
Jaune: And stop trying to be cute, too!
-----------------
Neo: *Tapping bare foot*
Jaune: Okay, so maybe my sense of direction isn’t the best. *gets The Look* Alright alright already, jeez. We’re back where we started, your shoes, your jacket and my armor are now forever lost to the wilds and it’s not my fault!
Neo: *Stares*
Jaune: *Shifts guiltily* Okay maybe it is, but if I had a map *Neo crosses her arms, reigniting The Look™ * we’d still probably be lost since the rest of team RNJR banned me from the map after reading it backwards and upside down.
Neo: *Nods firmly, taking the lead*
Jaune: For the fourth time.
Neo: *Turns, gapes in shock, shakes her head and grabs him by the hand*
Jaune: *Offended* Hey, I’m not a child! I won’t get lost!
Neo: *Looks at him through her eyelashes*
Jaune: *Sighs* Okay, fine. But only because getting lost in a weird jungle is way worse than getting lost in the grocery store at 14.
Neo: *Stops, removes belt, ties end around his wrist and grabs the other end*
Jaune: *Starts whining*
-----------------
Jaune: Dear diary *ignores Neo’s pointing and silent laughter* today is day 17 on the worst island to ever exist. Butthole and I -- OW, SHIT-FUCK-SHIT! I really hate that you sharpened your stick into a spear! Fine, Neo and I finally have a a good system in place for food. We’ve got our firepit, Neo turned my armor we found into a pan, one pot and a skillet, my impeccable home economics have saved our asses and we’ve got a spit for roasting things over the fire!
Neo: *Munches happily on roast rabbit*
Jaune: It’s really working out! Neo’s great at the spotting and tracking, I get to use the spear to hunt and there’s plenty of these really stupid semi-intelligent rabbits that seem to have a language of their own that are really good when you cook ‘em just right. *Pauses* I think they might have stolen my shirt though, I haven’t seen that thing in like four days.
Neo: *Mentally reminds herself to burn the eye candy’s shirt before he finds it*
-----------------
Day 28
Jaune: Ow, stop kicking me! I said I was sorry!
Neo: *Jumps on Jaune, bites his ear*
Jaune: AAAGGHH!!! Dammit Neo, how many times do I have to tell you not to bite me! It’s not my fault that seagull stole your hat! In case you hadn’t noticed, it stole Pyrrha’s sash too!
Neo: *Jumps off him, gestures emphatically*
Jaune: I know, you angry little troll! *Instead of attacking him again, Neo just stares at him sadly* I-I... *sighs* I know. I know. I really wanna kill that thing too. It’s...it’s all I had left of her too. All you had left of Torchwick. But we’re stuck here. We can’t find my friends and this island is huge.
Neo: *Nods unhappily*
Neo: *Jabs him with her stick spear*
Jaune: Yeah, we can kill any seagulls we see. *Neo blinks, considers trying to get her point across but nods*
-----------------
Day 49
Jaune: How do you set everything on fire! I told you we needed just enough to warm ourselves!
Neo: *Lunges at Jaune, leaves fire to burn*
Jaune: *Is strangled*
-----------------
Day 54
Neo: *Admires Jaune’s ass in jorts*
Jaune: I still don’t understand why you had to ruin my jeans. Tossing the boots into that bottomless pit, I get. My feet thank you. Uh, except when I keep stepping on sharp rocks and twigs. But really?
Neo: *Points at him, hand fans herself and panics, shaking her head rapidly*
Jaune: *Oblivious, insulted* Yeah, yeah, I’m sweaty! Fine, fuck having pant legs! I wanna get scratched and bitten by those weird little blue people again!
Neo: *Blinks, shakes her head in exasperation and relief*
-----------------
Day 59
Jaune: I can’t believe you committed genocide because those blue people stole your top! Neo, they just wanted a tent!
Neo: *Glares murderously at Jaune, covering her frilly pink and white bra with her hand and arm*
Jaune: *Gulps* I-I-I-I know! It’s upsetting, but murder isn’t always the answer!
Neo: *Uses free hand and makes bunny ears*
Jaune: Hey, those rabbits might be really stupid but they’re super mean spirited! One tried to drop a rock on my head and don’t you dare say it’d be an improvement!
Neo: *Startled, laughs*
Jaune: *Sheepish, laughs too*
Neo: *Continues laughing, eventually noticing Jaune has stopped and is red in the face, wide eyed*
Neo: *Notices she moved her arm and Jaune is staring at her chest*
Jaune: *Notices Neo’s glare and red face* W-wait, hold on a minute now, I didn’t mean to--
Neo: *Glomps, bites his nipple*
Jaune: *Girlish screams that can be heard for miles*
-----------------
Day 72
Jaune: No, put the berries down. You can’t just keep eating fruit all the time, you’re already very small and need to keep yourself healthy if you don’t wanna lie rotting as a corpse on this island forever.
Neo: *Grabs a huge handful of berries, shoves them in her mouth smugly*
Jaune: Dammit Neo, stop being so bratty! I’m only trying to help! *Grabs Rabbit jerky* Now do your body good, open your mouth and eat my meat!
Neo: *Gags, chokes, spits mushy berries out and kicks Jaune in the solar plexus for the phrasing*
Jaune: *Wheezing* I swear I didn’t mean to OH X-RAY AND VAV, SAVE ME!
Nearby Seagull: *Hearing the abyssal, shrieking screams of the Tall One, flies off in terror and decides to move the family nest*
Neo: *Biting, kicking, punching and pinching*
-----------------
Day 88
Jaune: I can hardly shave Neo, if you don’t remember my sword’s a jagged piece of sharp metal these days!
Neo: *Shows off shaved armpits, shows off shaved legs having long since created shorts from her capris and shows him a wooden knife*
Jaune: I should be concerned that you’ve created another stabby, but somehow -- GASP! *Actually gasps, clutches his beard* No! You wouldn’t!
Neo: *Grins*
Jaune: Please don’t, beloved friend of mine.
Neo: *Touched*
Jaune: What? We are. I mean sure you bite and attack me way more than most normal people do but you did save me from that rabbit mercenary group that tried to use a swinging log to splatter my brains against a tree. You might’ve been a bad guy once, but it’s nearly been three months and you’ve more than proven yourself. And I can’t really not call you a friend when I feel guilty about how I treated you.
Neo: *Smiles, undoes her bra*
Jaune: Wait, WHAT!? *Neo jumps on him and smiling happily, gives his cheek a kiss and starts shaving* WAIT NEO NO, THAT’S NOT FAIR YOU CAN’T USE BOOBIES AS A WEAPON LIKE THA- *Neo shakes her body side to side* -GGRRRGGG! That is so cruel. You’re the worst friend ever. I’m glad you have to sit on my ribs and not my lap because that would be even worse.
Neo: *Continues shaving*
-----------------
Day 146
Jaune: *Using his semblance* See, what’d I tell you? They get smarter! No way are those little demons gonna fall for the same trap twice.
Neo: *Lets Jaune heal the bloody bite marks from a rabbit, squirms*
Jaune: Stop it, you’re fine. *Kisses healed hand* Booboo be gone!
Neo: *Blushes brightly, stares wide eyed*
-----------------
Day 179
Neo: *Spinkicks boulder about to crush Jaune*
Jaune: Thanks Neo! *To a small, derpy looking anthropomorphic rabbit* Your wretched plan is foiled you vile creature from the deepest pits of hell! Now do me a favor and get stabbed!
Neo: *Spins away, clutching her beating heart as the sound of a vicious goring occurs*
Jaune: Another day, another dead rabbit! Oh look, there’s more! *Offers the Spear of Ultimate Stick to Neo* You wanna eviscerate the next couple?
Neo: *Wonders what this feeling is*
-----------------
Day 187
Jaune: *Gaping stupidly at Neo’s perfectly lit fire* W-wha? How!? Two months ago you lit my hair on fire *brushing hand through short, unstyled blondeness* but n-now...
Neo: *Smugly roasting bird meat*
Jaune: *Scoops Neo into a hug, spins the wide eyed mute* I understand how Dad felt when I finally learned to tie my shoes in the 6th grade now! I’m so proud, Neo! OW!
Neo: *Spits Jaune’s shoulder blood out, turns away blushing*
Jaune: Still proud. *Notices Neo blushing, deliberately not looking at him* Uh-oh. *Quietly, to himself* Oh no. I recognize this feeling. Ohhh shit. Okay, what the hell Jaune!? You see her boobs and you feel awkward about your boner for three days, but she looks all cute and embarrassed and that’s what does me in!? What kind of bullshit is this!?
Neo: *Oblivious, cupping her cheeks and cutely twisting back and forth*
-----------------
Day 219
Jaune: AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Neo: *Silently screaming at the top of her lungs*
Jaune: OH MY GOD NEO WHY THE FUCK IS HE SO BIG!? *Looks fearfully back at a 12 foot tall, musclebound, derpy looking anthroporphic rabbit sprinting at them with rage in its unthinking eyes*
Neo: *Frantically mimes stabbing*
Jaune: NEO, WHAT THE FUCK, I THINK HE’S TOO SWOLE FOR HUSHABYE!!!
Neo: *Heart flutters at Jaune’s name for their spear*
Giant Rabbit: ▂▂▃▃▄▄▅▅!
Jaune: *Ears ringing*
Neo: *Points at Jaune’s crotch, mimes stabbing*
Jaune: *Pales* THAT’S PROBABLY THE MOST EVIL THOUGHT YOU’VE EVER HAD IN YOUR LIFE! *Neo pouts, mimes it again* I’M JUST SAYING, NOT JUDGING, LET’S DO IT! *Uses semblance*
Neo: *Commits murder most foul*
Jaune: *Whips out the wooden knife* I’M SO SORRY FOR THIS, YOU OVERGROWN FREAK OF NATURE! *Jumps on the screaming body of the mutated rabbit, starts stabbing*
~~5 Minutes Later~~
Jaune: *Covered in blood, wipes forehead* Phew. Killing something this big really takes it out of you.
Neo: *Covered in blood, staring at Jaune wide eyed*
Jaune: Kind of a shame he looks basically human. Save for his stupid head, I guess, because I kinda don’t wanna eat anything that’ll make me feel too cannibally. *Puts hand on chin, blood drips* But I kinda think this is like the Final Boss of those rabbits. Maybe chop his head off and put on a pike like you did with that poor little blue guy that seemed to be the other blue people’s chief? *Nods resolutely* Yeah, gotta establish dominance and fear in those godless little fucks. *Looks at Neo* What do you think, NeeeMMMMPPPHHH!!!
Neo: *Glomps Jaune, shoves her tongue into his mouth*
-----------------
Day 237
Neo: Gakgh gakgh gakgh!
-----------------
Day 243
Jaune: Oh god, yeah, fuck yeah, you like that don’t you? *Grabs Neo’s hair*
Neo: *Likes that very much*
-----------------
Day 249
Jaune: *Waggles knife* So, uh, aim for the kidneys?
Neo: *Nods emphatically*
Jaune: Huh. I guess I’ll test it out on Cinder. Thanks honey. *Kisses cheek*
Neo: *Swoons*
-----------------
Day 251
Jaune: *Naked, washing grumpy Neo’s hair* I really mean it! I am so sorry. Just, well, uh...okay, you give amazing head and I wasn’t expecting you to go for the balls. Or, uh, the other thing, but well, um *sighs* look, the taint thing was just really unexpected and I’m really sorry I came in your hair! *Blushes*
Neo: *Can’t help but be proud, leans into his hands*
-----------------
Day  268
Jaune: Is there no end to your flexibility!? *Chokes on air* Nope. Guess not.
Neo: *Doing the splits smugly*
-----------------
Day 274
Jaune: And that is why, despite what people say, Immortal Konflict is superior to Road Combatant!
Neo: *Nods seriously*
Jaune: Wanna play when we get back to Remnant, maybe after we kill Salem in her sleep or something?
Neo: *Nods excitedly*
Jaune: You’re the best! *Kisses temple* Ow, why are you hitting me, I thought you liked kisses!?
Neo: *Liking forehead and temple kisses but not wanting to admit it*
-----------------
Day 296
Jaune: *Cumming inside*
Neo: *Toes curl, signing ‘I Love You’ over and over again*
Jaune: *Panting* God I love you too, Neo.
Neo: *Gapes, signs*
Jaune: *Panting decreases* Uh, yeah? My Dad has permanent hearing damage from his Huntsman days. Some chick had a mortar-giant cudgel-battering ram weapon and you can guess about how well that went.
Neo: *Signs more*
Jaune: I-- *realizes* ohhhh. I get it. Uh, I didn’t even think about it. You never signed so I figured you never learned. Ow, my ass!
Neo: *Stops pinching his ass, signs again but slower*
Jaune: *Blushes brightly* Um, yeah. I did. Is that-- *Neo flips him onto his back, kissing him and rocking her hips*
-----------------
Day 338
Jaune: *Contently holding Neo* This really was the last thing I expected to happen. *Neo nods as she leans into him* I...I don’t think I can ever really not miss Pyrrha, or despise Cinder from the bottom of my soul.
Neo: *Signs rapidly that she feels the same way, that she misses Roman*
Jaune: Yeah. I know. *Clears throat* But I think it’s okay. I mean I didn’t expect this to happen, but I’m glad it did. *Snuggling occurs* We’re gonna get out of here. We’re putting Cinder in the dirt. Then we’re gonna do the same to Salem. Then buy a house.
Neo: *Signs*
Jaune: I’ve kinda been a country boy my whole life. It’s up to you *is headbutted* OW! *Neo rubs the back of her aching head, signs, Jaune rubs his chin* Then it’s decided.
*Enjoying each others presence*
-----------------
Day 362
Weiss: Actually, the amount of slashes in the trees could just mean some new terrible creature of ridiculous origin could have made this area of the forest its stomping grounds.
Blake: *Flatly* As long it’s not the flying piranhas with steel teeth that drip acid, I’m fine.
Ruby: *Shudders* Please don’t remind me! I’m suppressing, Blake! Do you want to ruin fish sticks and mustard for me!?
Blake: *Grimaces* Yes.
Yang: *Ignores the bickering* Not gonna lie Weiss, after that giant crocodile with the crown and the cape and the penguin with the hammer, something a little more normal and horrific sounds just like home. *Adjusts cheetah print bikini, shifts hips under her grass skirt*
Weiss: *Eyebrow twitches* Right. Home. Which you clearly miss. *Eyes Yang’s flawless tan*
Yang: Huh? Well, yeah! Not to devalue the disaster we have waiting for us when we get back but I’m dying for a cheeseburger and a *in singsong* Strawberry Sunrise!
Ruby: *Cutting off Weiss and ignoring a fuming Blake* It could be Jaune though!
Weiss: Yes, possibly, but you have to consider the fact-- *Steps around tree, goes silent at the sounds*
Neo: *In a mating press clutching her feet, biting her lip and then silently moaning*
Jaune: *Going so hard he’s clapping Neo’s cheeks*
Weiss: --that maybe those living, spiny fruits got us again and we’re all on a very bad trip. *Can’t look away but wants to*
Ruby: *Blushes furiously*
Blake: *Covers nose, turns away*
Yang: I really wanna be there for our boy but *ignores Jaune’s cursing, Neo’s nodding and Jaune pushing in deep and creampieing the silently screaming mute* a really big part of me wants to punch him in his stupid face. Really!? Her!?
Blake: *Muffled* You sure you’re not just salty that it’s Neo?
Jaune: *Awkwardly, wide eyed but happy* Oh. Guys. Hey! Hi! *Weiss screeches as Jaune stands, Neo breathes heavily but grins smugly*
Yang: Nope. Not at all. *Clenching fist*
-----------------
Day 363
Yang: Okay. I’m cool with whole... *gestures at Neo and Jaune holding hands*  thing, because honestly I’d have to be a condescending and arrogant bitch to look down on you because of that, but really?
Ruby: Yang has a point, little blue people and psychotic but also really stupid rabbits and their super-duper-strong Daddy Rabbit? And you killed them alllll oh wow. *Staring at something that Jaune pulled from a bag* That’s a weird looking skull. *Whispering* Why does he have a skull!? Oh no, Neo really did corrupt him and not just with that!
Yang: *Gapes, recovers slowly, sarcastically* She is such a good influence on you Jaune.
Jaune: *Grinning* I know, right? I mean imagine if Neo wasn’t here with me! I probably would’ve survived but I would’ve been so depressed that I’d probably be coming back eyeless and with a ton of PTSD! And maybe a quirky catchphrase!
Yang: Because that’s important. *Rolls eyes* Besides, you couldn’t pull off a catchphrase to save your life.
Jaune: *Face goes slack, contorts stupidly in a scream* BWAAAAH!
Team RWBY: *Jerks*
Neo: *Bites Jaune’s pinky*
Jaune: OW-OW-OW! Take a joke, Neo!
Yang: No, yeah, pretty much on the shrimp’s side.
Weiss: I have no idea what that was but never do it again.
Blake: *Forgives Jaune and Neo for their crusade against the rabbits*
Ruby: *Giggling at the derp face Jaune made*
Jaune: Fine, fine, you win. *Pouting* Using their war cry would have been so insulting to their memory though.
Neo: *Smiling, kisses Jaune’s cheek, signs that he’s a big baby*
Weiss: Getting back to the point though, we didn’t think Jaune would be in nearly as good shape as he’s in now. In that regard I feel we owe Neopolitan a good deal of gratitude.
Blake: And like it or not Yang, having her not just be an enemy of Salem but actually on our side?
Yang: Yeah, well--
Ruby: Plus he’s happy! And I think he kind of needs it. *Sadly* We all do. A-and if Neo is what makes him happy, then I think I’m happy too.
Jaune: *Touched* Rubes...
Ruby: It hurts, Jaune. But I can’t imagine...well, I can’t imagine if it were me. So it’ll take time but the best thing I can do here is be happy for you and get us outta here! *Pumps fist*
Neo: *Signs rapidly*
Jaune: *Grins* And make Cinder and Salem unalive! And in the days leading to that, make them wish they were already dead!
Ruby: *Uncomfortable at the bloodlust* Umm...
Yang: Ah fuck it, you speak my language like that and I can’t stay mad at you! Let’s do it! *Slaps Blake’s ass*
Blake: *Yelps, blushes and glares at Yang* Is this really the time for that!?
Weiss: *Rubbing the bridge of her nose with her eyes squeezed shut* Ah, the onset of a pounding headache. Truly the gang is back together again.
-----------------
Day 365
Jaune: Kinda conveniant that exactly one year after falling into the mythical island of who knows where we find ourselves back in the real world, isn’t it?
Neo: *Hand on her hip, staring at him*
Yang: I’m with the midget. *Grass skirt swishes* Are you really about to complain we’re free of that hellhole?
Weiss: They have a point. After everything we fought there you’d think you would be more appreciative.
Jaune: I am. It just seemmmmpph! *Is kissed by Neo*
Neo: *Happily shuts Jaune up*
Ruby: Alright, let’s do this!
*Action pose except Yang’s tan, in a cheetah fur bikini and a grass skirt, Jaune has a handful of Neo’s ass and Neo is grabbing Jaune by the hair, clearly using tongue and Hushabye is aimed in a slightly red faced Blake’s direction*
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I got the chance to see the RWBY finale today and rather than be depressed and think about Penny, I decided I’d go ahead and write a Silent Knight fic instead. It’s all over the place but really, that’s to be expected since I went in with no plan. I know people are already bitching over on Reddit about Jaune possibly getting attention, but like with most people who dislike a character I decided to pay them no mind whatsoever.
Because honestly, with Dragonslayer never happening I’d be perfectly fine with Jaune x Neo.
As for this entire thing, I had way more fun with it than I should have and I hope anyone reading it has just as much fun as I did writing it.
Oh. And yes, there were plenty of Rabbids and Smurfs harmed in the creation of this lengthy drabble.

Mr. Park~ BBQ
Pairing- Seonghwa x Named Reader
Includes- Dilf Seonghwa, Age Gap Relationship- Everyone is consenting adults, meet friends, bullying, name calling- slut, whore, golddigger
Series Masterlist
Tumblr media
J POV
"Seonghwa!", I call. I look in the mirror frowning, pulling on my shorts
"Yeah jagi?"
"Does this look ok?"
Tumblr media
He looks at my outfit. "Yeah baby"
"Really? The shorts aren't too short?" I'm worried about how short they are. He comes in to the room more, walking behind me
"No they cover your ass"
"Maybe I should wear jeans"
"Jagi it's 90 degrees out"
"Yeah but all my shorts are this short and I don't know if I should wear this". We're going to a barbecue at Hongjoong's house and he's introducing me to his friends
"I should change", I decide, starting to go to the closet
"Jagi", Seonghwa calls, catching my hand, "You look beautiful baby. What's wrong?"
"I just...the shorts are too short. All of my shorts are like this. And my shirts and dresses are slutty too. Why is everything I wear slutty? Why didn't you tell me I dress like a slut?"
"Uh because you don't?"
Yeah right. I had a hard time finding a regular black tank top. As it is I had to dig in the closet to find it
"Do we have time to stop at a store?", I ask. Seonghwa pulls me to him, lifting my face to his. He has a look of concern in his face
"Joanne what's wrong? I don't understand. Why are you saying you're clothes are slutty? They're not"
"Yes they are", I insist, "It's either my shirts show too much boob or they're crop tops and show my belly. My shorts show my ass. My dresses show my boobs and belly. I don't have normal clothes"
"Yeah but you have the body for it. And you like dressing that way. I don't get why all of a sudden it's a problem"
"Because", I say, moving out of his arms and to the closet. I start flipping through my hangers to try to find something else. Too low cut, crop top, mini skirt, mini dress, low cut, crop top, crop top, crop top. No no no. Why can't I just have a normal t-shirt? Normal shorts. Capris even
"Because why?", he prods
"Because we're going somewhere where everyone is your age! All the women there are your age and they're not going to dress like me! There's kids there too. They're all going to think I'm a slut."
His eyes widen, shock on his face, "No they're not"
"Yes they are! Everyone thinks that"
"Who's everyone?"
"Everyone!", I yell, losing it. I didn't want to bother him with this shit but I'm worried how his friends will see me
"Joanne what are you talking about?"
"I know people think I'm a slut and a golddigger! I hear Yoonah's mom tell her that all the time. Everytime we go out, I hear people say that about me. They're worried about you, they feel bad for you because they think I'm gonna take all your money"
I hate hearing people say that. Normally I wouldn't care but it's every time I'm out with him. And it doesn't help that he buys me a lot of things and I live here for free
"Jo-"
"And you pay for everything because I can't. Because I don't make enough money. You bought me a car, you took me on a trip, you buy anything I look at or mention. You pay for everything. You let me live here for free. And I'm not a moocher but I can't help you with bills or anything because my job is shit. And all I got you is a watch that put me in debt", I tell him, frustrated
"Jagi-", he starts but I'm not done yet
"And these are your friends", I continue, tears forming in my eyes, "I don't want them to think that about me. I love you so much and I don't want them to think I'm with you for money. I want them to see that I love you more than anything in the world and they won't if they think I'm a slut or a golddigger"
Now tears are streaming down my face and I know I fucked my makeup up. Stupid emotions. But everything I said is true.bI want his friends and their wives to know I love him. He immediately pulls me to him, his arms around me, holding me tightly as I cling onto him
"Aegi, don't cry ok? I didn't know you felt like that. Why didn't you tell me?"
"Because I don't want to bother you. You're job stresses you out and I don't want to cause more stress for you at home"
"Joanne", he says, pulling back, looking at me, "Nothing about you will ever stress me out ok? How you feel won't cause stress. I want you to tell me when things bother you so we can fix it together"
I know he wants that but I really don't want to stress him out
"Jagi, look, I buy you things because I love you and I can. I have the money ok? You're my princess and I like spoiling you. I don't need anything back, just you. And you live here because we both want that. Right now you're job is sucky ok? But once you finish school you'll get a better job. If you really want to pay for bills or whatever you can once you get settled in a job. But you don't have too. I got it baby. I've always paid for everything for this house and you being here really doesn't make that much of a difference money wise. I know you're not a moocher Jo. I think I've known that when you said you started working at fifteen"
He gently wipes my eyes, smiling softly at me, "Look the guys know how old you are. I'm sure they told their wives or girlfriends. And I'm sure they won't think that your a slut or golddigger or whatever especially when they get to know you. And if anyone says anything like that about you, we'll leave ok?"
I shake my head, I don't want that. "I don't want to cause problems between you and you're friends"
"Hey, you're my girl ok? They have to accept you or they don't get my friendship. At the very least I expect them to be nice to you and respect you. If they can't do that then I don't need friends like that"
I don't want that to happen. I don't want him to stop being friends with his friends because of me.
"Hwa, I-"
"Jagi, I mean it ok. You and me are a done deal ok? I'm not letting you go. Are you going to let me go?"
"Never", I answer honestly
"Then that's it. You left your family for me. Stopping a few friendships because they refuse to accept you isn't a big deal. Not compared to what you gave up for me"
I guess but I don't like him giving up friendships for me. I guess this is what he felt when I told him I left my parents for him and refused to go back
"Ok?"
I nod, "Ok".
He smiles and kisses me softly, "And any time you feel bad about something tell me. You can tell me anything. I want you to tell me and we can talk and fix it together. Got it?"
"Got it. If you do the same", I answer
"I will. I promise"
"I promise too"
"Are you ready baby?", he asks
I nod, "I just have to check my make up"
"Ok. I'll wait for you downstairs?"
"Yeah". I look in the mirror to find that my makeup isn't messed up as much as I thought. I quickly fix what I need to and take a breath. I'm still scared but I feel better that I talked to Seonghwa about it. He calmed me down and while I don't want any of his friendships to end, I can't stop him from doing just that
I just hope everything goes smoothly so it doesn't come to that
---------------------------------------------------
Seonghwa parks the car by a house and I gulp. I feel his hand softly touch my cheek, making me look at him. "Remember jagi, if anyone says any shit to you, tell me and we'll go ok?"
I nod. He kisses me, then we both get out of the car. He takes my hand and I cling to his. As we walk up the walkway, he raises our hands and kisses the back of mine
He rings the bell and we wait. A minutes later the door opens to a guy I've never met who's holding a toddler
"Hey Hwa", he greets
"Hey. Hongjoong this is Joanne, my girlfriend. Jagi this is Hongjoong"
"Hi", he smiles at me, "Wow Hwa really lucked out. You're beautiful"
I blush, "Thanks"
"Can you not hit on my girl? I'll tell Yora and she'll emasculate you", Seonghwa threatens
"Please. She looks at guys all the time. Empty threats man", Hongjoong shoots back, "Anyway come inside. Everyone is out back"
Seonghwa leads me inside the house. It's really nice. Not too big but cozy. When we get to the backyard, I gape. It's huge. There's a huge table with umbrellas where people are sitting, a smaller table next to it where there are kids of various ages but none over ten. There's a big in ground pool and poolside chairs with umbrellas like a resort. It's bigger than Seonghwa's back yard
"Wow"
"Yeah. The Kim resort is what we call this yard"
"I can see why"
"C'mon baby, I'll introduce you to the guys". I swallow hard, following him and trying to stay behind him
"Finally you made it!"
"You're late"
"We're waiting for you to eat!"
"Oh shut it", Seonghwa answers
"So where is she?"
"Yeah I wanna meet her"
"I wanna see the girl that has you head over heels in love"
Oh god. Well at least they know he loves me. Hopefully they can see that I love him too. Seonghwa pulls me from behind him and I stand next to him, holding his hand in a death grip
"This is Joanne"
"Fucking hell. She's hot. You lucky bastard", one of them yells making my face heat up
"You're gorgeous!", he continues
"Hey. Get your own", Seonghwa snaps, then turns to me, "That idiot is Wooyoung. He's single because no woman is crazy enough to marry him"
I giggle, waving at him. As he introduces everyone, I notice that all these men are very good looking But none hold a candle to Seonghwa. He's beautiful and perfect
There's a lot of names to remember
Hongjoong, his wife, Yora and his kids- a five year old boy named Deol-Su and the two year old girl, Sung
Wooyoung, who's single
Jongho who's divorced but brought his six year old girl, Sang-He
Mingi, his wife Molan and their five month old boy, Hyun-Seok. I notice Mingi's wife is younger than him but still older than me
Yunho, his wife Mindeulle and their three children- ten year old boy Jae-Jin, seven year old boy Kwang-Seon and a three year old boy, Min-Kyu. Mindeulle is also pregnant with a baby girl
San and his girlfriend Mi-Cha
And lastly Yeosang, his wife Kyong and two girls, nine year old Kiaraa and three year old Hayoon
I notice all the men say hi and smile at me. Kyong too smiles brightly and waves. But Mindeulle, Yora, Mi-Cha, Molan either smile tightly or glare at me. I just smile, trying to be friendly
Seonghwa leads me to two empty chairs between Hongjoong and Kyong. I end up sitting next to Kyong. Seonghwa holds my hand and everyone starts talking among themselves. But I just sit there not saying anything. I hate going somewhere where I don't know anyone. It makes my social awkwardness very apparent
"So Joanne, are you going to college in the fall?", Kyong smiles at me
"Oh uh no. I'm already in school for makeup"
"Oh yeah? That sounds fun"
"Yeah it is. Uh when I came here they held me back a year because I was missing some classes. It was only three so the school allowed me to attend those classes in the morning, have a lunch then go to a makeup institution to start taking classes"
"Oh yeah? How long do you have left?", she asks, sounding interested
"Just another semester. I took as many classes as I could this year and I have a full schedule in the fall so I can finish faster"
"That's smart. Where do you want to work?"
"Well right now I work at Sephora doing makeup for customers"
"So you'll already have experience. That's really good. That'll help when you job search"
She's really nice and so far I like her. "Yeah. I want to apply to the entertainment companies. I want to so make up for an idol group"
I hear a scoff, and when I look up, Yora is frowning at me. It bothers me because I didn't say anything wrong
"A girl group?", Kyong questions, making me focus on her again
"Ideally. But I'll take anything. Boy groups do a lot more makeup than you'd think"
"And you'd want to hang around attractive men your age all day?" Mindeulle questions
Glancing at Seonghwa, I see his jaw clenching. "It wouldn't be hanging out so much as working. The idols don't really pay attention to the staff anyway"
"Yes but a pretty girl like you would get some of their attention", Molan argues
"Well they can pay whatever attention they want but it doesn't matter to me. I have Hwa and he's everything I need"
"Damn Hwa, she's just as into you as you're to her", Jongho comments
"Yeah, I know. It's great", he smiles
As the barbecue goes on, Yunho moves to the grill cooking the food, the fathers sit around and drink, the kids play and Kyong continues to talk to me
I learn that Kyong and Yeosang met in high school and have been together since then. They both were focusing on their careers, him an accountant with Seonghwa and her lawyer, before they had children
"We're going to try one more time for a boy", she tells me
"Good luck", I tell her
"Do you want any children?", she asks. I do. I've thought about it since I was a teenager. But Seonghwa and I haven't talked about anything like that. It too soon
"Oh yeah. When I was younger I wanted like five kids. But now I'd be good with two. A boy and a girl is what I ideally want. But it doesn't matter as long as they're healthy"
She nods, "I get it. I feel the same. But I want to try to give Yeosang a son"
"Jagi, I'm gonna go keep Yunho company, ok?"
I panic but clamp down on it. "Sure", I squeak out
"I'm right there if you need me". I nod, he kisses my cheek, then goes towards Yunho
"He really loves you. He talks to Yeosang about you all the time"
"I love him", I answer
"Oh I know. I can see it. It's in the way you look at him."
I smile, glad that she can see it. If she can, then maybe everyone else can tell
"How did you meet him?"
I blush. What am I supposed to say? That I threw myself at him?
"Joanne it's ok. I know you're a lot younger than him. But in my opinion it doesn't matter if you love each other. And both of you do. I'm not judging you ok?"
Thank god I have someone here on my side and who understands. "Thanks"
She nods, "So tell me"
"Uh I moved here when I was 18 and Yoonah became my friend. I met him when I'd go to her house to study."
"Oh yeah?"
I nod, "I...I always liked him but I never tried anything. In fact I tried to stay away from him. I stopped going to her house so often and had her come to mine instead. Until I couldn't take it anymore. And I uh...made a move on him"
"You did?", she smiles, leaning closer. It's like I'm talking to a girl my age, who wants all the details. It's relieving and kinda fun to gush about him
"Yes. I uh told him I liked him"
"Sometimes you have to make the first move. Even men his age are idiots", she laughs
I laugh too, "Yeah. We agreed to take things slow and we had to hide our relationship for awhile. He was worried about Yoonah's reaction and I was worried about my parents"
"And do they know?" I bite my lip, not sure what I should say
"It's ok Joanne. You can tell me without going into detail"
"They know. They don't agree with it and they uh kicked me out of the house"
She gapes, her eyes wide, "Oh my god. I'm so sorry. That's horrible"
I know. I haven't talked to my mom in over a month. I try to call her but she doesn't answer
"I refused to give Seonghwa up and my mother, she's very old school. She kicked me out. My dad...asked to talk to me. I met him with Seonghwa and it didn't go well. Seonghwa and him uh fought over something that happened. Then he uh told me I was a disappointment and not their daughter anymore"
"I'm so sorry. No parent should do that to their child no matter how old school they are. That's horrible." I just shrug because there's nothing to say
"You live with Seonghwa now?"
I nod, "I wasn't planning on that. I was going to go to a hotel then look for a cheap apartment but he wouldn't let me"
She nods , "Of course not. He loves you. There's no way he'd let you fend for yourself"
I guess not. But it worked out and we're happy. That's all that matters
A little while later the food is ready and Seonghwa comes back with food for me and him. I get up to get us drinks and on the way to the cooler, I see Yora by the door to the house, holding some plates
"Do you need help with anything?", I ask, "I can carry whatever you need me to"
She glares at me, "No. I'm fine"
Embarrassment fills my body and I just nod. I guess she doesn't like me. I feel a tap on my leg and when I look down, I see Hayoon. I bend down to her
"Yes?"
"Juice", she asks, "Pwease?"
My god she's adorable. "You want juice?". She nods
"Did mommy say it's ok?" She nods again
I hear Kyong call out, "Joanne can you give her a juice please?" I nod, giving Kyong a thumbs up
"What kind do you want?", I ask Hayoon, looking at the kids juices on the table, "Apple, grape or fruit punch"
"Green"
Green is apple juice. I grab one and hand it to her, "Here you go"
"Tank you"
"You're welcome", I smile
I stand up and get drinks for me and Seonghwa. When I turn back, Hayoon is still next to me. "Do you need something else?"
She lifts her hand to me. She wants my hand? I give it to her and she pulls me along, toddling back to our seats. Seonghwa laughs, watching me and Hayoon. I sit in the chair while Kyong picks her up
"Here baby", I tell Seonghwa, giving him a coke
"Thanks jagi"
I feel a tap on my arm and I turn to Kyong. Hayoon is holding her hands out to me, struggling in her mom's lap
"Wow she really likes you", Kyong says, "You don't have to take her"
"It's ok", I say, reaching out for Hayoon
Taking her, I put her in my lap while Kyong gives her the juice and some cut up chicken on a plate. I start eating, watching Hayoon taking some chicken and shoving it in her mouth. I suppress a giggle at how cute she is because I don't want to choke
She picks up the juice box, squeezing as she drinks, juice dribbling down her chin and clothes. This time I do laugh, grabbing a napkin and wiping her up
"Yeosang, I think we may have found a babysitter", Kyong jokes
I just smile, "Sure. That's not a problem"
"So when can we expect another baby Hwa?", Wooyoung yells
I blush while Seonghwa says, "Tomorrow"
I watch Yora, Mindeulle and, Molan roll their eyes as they all go inside the house
"Idiot", Seonghwa mutters under his breath, "Don't pay attention to him jagi"
"Ok", I answer, continuing to eat and holding Hayoon. After awhile, I have to go to the bathroom. Handing Hayoon back, I ask Kyong where it is
"Past the living room and the kitchen, down that hall, third door on the right"
I nod, "Thanks"
I tell Seonghwa where I'm going, him asking if I need him to show me where it is. "No silly. I got it", I say, kissing him on the cheek, "I'll be right back"
Making my way inside, I'm coming to the kitchen when I hear the other women
"....see what she's wearing? Her ass hanging out? Making Hongjoong check her out"
"I saw Yunho checking her skanky ass out too"
"Yeah Mingi did too. While he's holding our baby!"
I swallow hard. They're talking about me. I can't help if their husbands look at me. That's not my fault. I knew I should of worn jeans
"What is Seonghwa thinking being with a cheap whore like her?"
"Please, the only thing she's good for is fucking. That's why he's with her"
I knew this would happen. I knew it. I have to get out of here
"Are you eavesdropping?" I turn around to find Mi-Cha behind me
"Nnn....no. I was looking for the bathroom"
"You're lying", she says, approaching me
"No I'm not", I insist, backing up and ending up in the kitchen
"So you're listening to our conversation?", Yora snaps
"No! No. I was looking for the bathroom. I...I...didn't mean to hear anything"
"So you heard us. Are you gonna run to Seonghwa and tell on us?", Mindeulle rolls her eyes
"What? No!"
"So is that what you had to wear here? Shorts so short that you're ass is hanging out, making our husbands check you out?"
"I...I can't control that", I stammer
"Well if you didn't dress like a whore, it wouldn't happen", Molan snarls
I don't know what to say. They're acting like a bunch of high school mean girls not adult woman
"Why are you with Seonghwa? Why aren't you with someone your own age?", Yora barks
"I... I...."
"How old are you?", Mi-Cha questions
"Twenty"
"Twenty? What the hell do you want with a man as old as Seonghwa besides his money?", Mindeulle questions
Seonghwa is not as old as she's making it seem. And I could care less about money
"I don't want his money!"
"But he pays for everything for you. I know, he tells Hongjoong and Hongjoong tells me. He took you on vacation, he lets you live in his house, he bought you a car. The sex must be amazing for his to drop money on you like that", Yora growls
The sex is amazing but that's not what I'm giving him like they think. I'm not exchanging sex for anything. He's my boyfriend and I love him
"I... I'm not with him for his money!"
"You're just a fucking golddigger. A dirty whore who opens her legs for anyone who gives you money", Molan spits
"No I'm not. I love Seonghwa"
Yora snorts, "Right ok. Tell me another one"
"I do. I love him". Why don't they believe me?
"You went after him. After your friend's dad. Is that why you befriended Yoonah? To get Seonghwa?"
"No. I didn't know he was her dad until after we were friends"
I had no clue who her dad was. I didn't know it was Seonghwa. I never saw him until I went to her house, months after we became friends
"Did you show up in you're school outfit, playing innocent?", Mi-Cha mocks
That's not how it was. I went after school, I didn't have time to change
"Is it isn't it? Fucking slut", Molan says disgusted
"I'm not a slut!". This is so overwhelming and everything I knew was going to happen is happening. These women hate me because I'm younger than Seonghwa. Because of the clothes I wear. I try to hold back the tears but it's hard
"You're mother must be so ashamed of you. She kicked you out of her house for being such a whore and a golddigger", Mindeulle snaps
Tears fall as I realize that part is right. She did kick me out because I wouldn't give up Seonghwa. My mother thinks I'm a whore. I didn't tell Seonghwa, but she called me that when we were fighting. She called me a whore, a slut, a golddigger, a homewrecker, disgusting, among other hurtful things then she kicked me out and told me to never come back
"So what's the plan? Bleed Seonghwa dry, get a job with a male idol group, then leave Seonghwa or cheat on him when you catch the eye of a far more richer idol? Then bleed him dry too?", Yora accuses
"No! That's not what's happening. I love Seonghwa, I will never leave him", I sob
"Well let me tell you something. You won't last. Seonghwa will see you for what you are and drop you. Or he'll get tired of you. Because you're just a girl to fuck, to use, not a girl to settle down with. That's what happens to whores", Yora snarls
That's one of my biggest fears. That Seonghwa will get tired of me and leave me. And it'll shatter my heart
"I don't want you in my house. I tolerate you this time for Seonghwa. But this is the only time. You're never coming back here again and I will make sure Seonghwa knows all about you're slutty ass. I will make sure he opens his eyes and save himself before you suck everything out of him"
I cry harder, wanting them to stop
"Stupid bitch"
I break away from them, running to the bathroom. Closing the door, I make sure I locked it, then lean against the door. Sliding to the ground, I sob in my arms

Guess I Misunderstood
Part 2 of Not the One series.
Summary: Kurt's trying a find a way to end things with Adam and Blaine Anderson is one of the reasons why.
Notes:  Open for more prompts in this 'verse but I only intended it to be 2 parts of a two-sided story. I hope you enjoy.
Read Part 1 here
AO3
The first time Kurt saw Blaine Anderson, he was spying on the bulletin boards. He, like every other Apple, was worried about how many freshmen they could pull this semester. With a majority of the current Adam’s Apples being seniors, they needed to fill those spots with freshmen. Better to round them up this year so they’ll already have a year of acapella under their belts.
He's just standing there reading all the flyers. Kurt’s trying to look busy with his phone to not draw attention. But he can’t help but access this man.
Firstly, Kurt doesn't recognize him so he assumes this is a freshman, exactly the demographic their flyers are trying to bring in. The second thing that makes this man stand out among the others Kurt’s observed thus far is how nicely dressed he is. It is the first day of school so one would think a little effort would be put in but some boys their age won’t even put on a stain-free shirt to come to school. Luckily, most NYADA students care about their appearances, this freshman is no exception.
He’s wearing tightly fitted, dark green, capri pants and a crisp, white, collared polo.
Then his hand is reaching up to the green flyer Kurt designed.
He takes it.
YES!
Kurt tries to collect himself when he walks over to the boards. Don’t scare him away is his new mantra.
“The Apples?” He asks.
The freshman was shy at first probably because he didn’t expect to be approached. Before he answers Kurt, he does manage to meet his eyes.
Well, Kurt thought, if he sings as well as he looks the Apples could make Nationals.
In the past, Kurt would’ve berated himself for checking out guys while being in a relationship but he’s becoming less sure about Adam lately. His boyfriend is becoming a bit pushy about things like this. But Kurt isn’t about to stop doing it. If Adam really trusted him, he could see all of this was harmless.
The guy was gorgeous, no one should really blame Kurt for staring. His bowtie added a dash of adorableness, which would only draw Kurt in closer if he was single. Which he is decidedly not.
“I love to sing.”
Kurt could certainly relate. That’s how he got involved with glee clubs in the first place. Hell, that’s what got him to New York.
“Me too,” he said, “I’ll see you at auditions, break a leg.”
Only while he was walking away did Kurt curse himself for not catching the man’s name.
Before he knew it, they reached the point in the school year—day two—where Rachel was would start harassing him about “getting his name out there” and listing off all the auditions she had lined up. The only way Kurt could hear another word of this was over coffee so he dragged Rachel there before his class. This meant she had exactly 35 minutes to talk at him about it until he inevitably came home for the night and had to share the loft with her. Halfway through the conversation, he notices a finely dressed young man in line.
He’s not ashamed to admit the man’s best asset drew his attention. Though it wasn’t a difficult feat considering Power-Hungry Rachel was his other option.
Thankfully, her time was running out, “Rach, I’ll see you at home, I have Tibideaux.”
With one last look at the man, Kurt rushes off to class.
When Adam’s Apples auditions are up and running, Kurt is fuming. His boyfriend thought the perfect time to discuss their future as a couple was directly before they had to sit on their asses for 3 hours listening to a bunch of freshmen sing their hearts out.
Of course, they fought over it. Kurt was pissed about the timing, Adam thought he was being careless about their future plans because he refused to talk about it.
“I’m refusing to do it publicly when we have obligations!” Kurt had told him.
He had stormed into the empty auditorium at that point, casting aside Adam’s idea to move away after graduation for the moment, and sat in the third row. Unable to take a hint, Adam sat beside him.
Kurt was barely able to pay attention to the singers until Blaine. Once again, the man was pleasantly dressed. This time in bright yellow capris and a lovely yellow and blue bowtie. Kurt wondered if he had an affinity for them.
Adam coughed next to him, Kurt reverted his eyes. For the rest of the song, he was trying not to stare because Adam didn’t need another reason to blame Kurt for their relationship problems. When Blaine was finished, they clapped, Adam leaned in, “I’m sorry, you’re right.” In reply, Kurt kissed his cheek.
Knowing a simple kiss could smooth things over for now. They obviously had a lot to discuss.
As school picked up, Kurt mostly forgot about his little soft spot for Blaine until he was pulling a tipsy Adam off of the Lion’s Den dance floor Saturday night.
They knew their potential new recruits would be at Callbacks, Kurt wanted none of that. If they were going to celebrate the first week of classes as a couple, he wasn’t about to be interrupted by a drunk NYADA student begging to know how their glee audition went. So he was here and apparently so was Blaine.
He almost turned right around wanting to ignore the man. This is the exact situation he was trying to avoid. But Adam pulled him forward, slurring “bar’s this way.”
Kurt tried to catch his eye from across the bar but instead watched as Blaine slung his drink back and paid his tab. By the time Adam was finished ordering, Blaine was gone.
The fourth time Kurt thought he’d see Blaine never came.
Kurt had posted the Adam’s Apples list of new recruits himself. Blaine Anderson was at the top. Alphabetically speaking. Yet, he never showed up to their first rehearsal. Everyone else had come. It was difficult to listen to Adam’s introductory speech when he kept waiting for Blaine to walk through the auditorium doors.
He never did. Did Tuesdays at 7 not work for his schedule?
They sat in a circle on stage playing ice breakers, learning each other’s names and special interests in regards to their studies at NYADA.
When rehearsal ends, Adam tapped his shoulder, “you seem distracted, what’s up?”
Kurt remembers what Drunk Adam told him on Saturday and lies, “nothing, I’m fine. Just something Rachel said.”
“Well,” Adam helped him up, “don’t worry too much about her. Before you know it, you and I will be taking on the West End.”
He smiles until Adam turns away.
When Adam had first said they should move, Kurt thought he meant out of the heart of the city. Which was something he could understand. If Kurt’s dreams of starting a family someday were to be met, he saw the appeal of a move. It never crossed his mind that Adam meant to move across the ocean.
When they first started talking, Kurt loved the allure of an older man. Being a freshman at the time, Kurt had been desperate to fit in in ways he never could at McKinley. So when Adam took him under his wing, showed him the ropes of NYADA and New York, it was only a matter of time before Kurt had a crush on him. Initially, Adam was too busy for a relationship, he had told Kurt as much so Kurt keep the crush to himself...and Rachel.
When NYADA’s spring formal rolled around, Kurt was already planning on going with his roommate. Rachel had been trying him to match in a terrible shade of pink. It didn’t go well with either of their complexions. The text came in mid-argument about their outfits.
Adam: wanna go to formal?
Kurt dropped his phone. Luckily, he was sitting on the couch and it fell onto the cushion. Rachel, of course, knew something was wrong because Kurt paused in the middle of yelling at her about the tackiness of matching when they could complement each other instead.
“What’s up?” she asked, leaning in to glance at his phone, “it’s not your dad, right?”
“No, no, no,” Kurt assured her, tilting his screen so she could read the message.
“OH!” she squealed, jumping up. “Tell him yes!”
“He probably isn’t asking me, just wants to know if I’ll be there.”
Rachel rolled her eyes, “don’t stupid, Kurt.”
Ignoring her, Kurt texted back and slumped down.
Kurt: Rachel and I are going to go together, yes
Instantly, another text came in.
Adam: Would Rachel be upset if I took you instead?
Rachel was biting her lip excitedly. Practically dancing as she sat on the couch next to him.
Kurt: I think she’d be delighted. As would I.
The two of them did some jumping up and down together before Kurt settled back onto the couch, holding his phone to his chest.
“Guess that means I can wear pink if I want to,” Rachel said before disappearing into her bedroom.
But that was then. It had been a long time since Kurt felt butterflies in his stomach when he thought about Adam. He never thought they’d completely disappear but these last few months he felt stagnant. When he expressed these concerns to his boyfriend, Adam’s solution was, once again, to move across the pond.
Like that would solve their issues.
That wasn’t what Kurt had meant by stagnant but Adam kept going on and on about how New York may be the city that never sleeps but he couldn’t wait to get back to the excitement of London.
Kurt could never see himself moving so far away from his dad or his friends. New York had become his home these last three years. Maybe Adam always dreamed of going back to the UK but he had never told Kurt that explicitly until the start of this semester. Dating for 2 years and it never came up.
By the time they were having their fifth fight about this, Kurt knew they were going to have to break up. It was just a matter of when.
The actual fourth time Kurt saw Blaine Anderson was two weeks before Thanksgiving break.
He was sitting in a corner of the library. Sheets of music spread across his lap. Titling his head so a single black curl dangled in his face. Blaine keeps blowing the curl away to no avail. It took everything in Kurt to not laugh.
Adorable.
Kurt wasn’t really here to study. He finished up his assignments for the weekend. There was a major test next week for one of Rachel’s classes. She was in a study group and forgot her yellow notebook so Kurt offered to bring it to her.
Wasn’t it just his luck that Blaine Anderson was here? Right in his line of sight. The universe must be having fun with him tonight. He was about to go home to an empty apartment and write a breakup speech for Adam.
Kurt had plans to talk with his day over Thanksgiving break—Burt insisted on planning for his flight. He just needed someone, not Rachel, to tell him it was the right choice. For so long, Adam, being his first boyfriend, made Kurt feel like he owed it to Adam to continue this. Kurt had just reached the end of his rope.
He did end up talking to his dad about everything other than the impending breakup. In fact, Kurt couldn’t seem to get Blaine’s name out of his mouth.
“We had this really talented singer come in for auditions, dad,” Kurt said. “Blaine Anderson, he’s a freshman.”
“Oh yeah?”
This was the second time Kurt had brought this up.
“He’s going to do big things someday.”
By the fourth time, Blaine’s name was mentioned, which was a lot of times for a man Kurt had only spoken to once, Burt had something to say about it.
“You gonna ask him out, bud, or just keep talking to me?”
Kurt paused, blushed, and stumbled out a “no.”
“No what? You won’t ask him or he won’t go out with you.”
“Dad,” Kurt said, “both of those imply, I do ask him out.”
“Well, you should.” Burt shrugged. “You clearly like him.”
His dad did always know how to read him. This wasn’t the time to remind Burt of his boyfriend. Of whom, Burt was indifferent. Dating for years and Adam couldn’t seem to break down Burt’s overprotective walls.
Now that Kurt was alone in their apartment thinking of those conversations. All of them. Every single time he had asked Burt about Adam or called his dad after a ridiculous fight. How many of those conversations contain happy stories?
Kurt and Adam had loads of good times but none that he ever shared with his dad, no memories that become inside jokes, nothing like that.
It was the Monday after Thanksgiving, Rachel was in class, Adam’s professor had let them out earlier, and Kurt had an empty apartment.
Kurt: let’s get coffee
Adam: Be there in ten
When Kurt came back, he was a single man in New York once again.
The fifth time, Kurt saw Blaine Anderson was on purpose. He meant to run into him in the NYADA auditorium. Kurt had asked around and found out Blaine had joined a different glee club. Amy said they rehearsed on Wednesdays and Blaine was always there a half-hour earlier to warm-up alone.
Sure enough, Blaine was center stage pacing in a circle doing one of Rachel’s favorite scales. Kurt is creeping in from one of the back entrances. Slowly, he makes his way up to the stage unsure if he wants Blaine to notice him or not.
Eventually, he reaches a moment when he has to say something. About fifteen feet from the stage, Kurt speaks up, “you’re very talented, you know?”
Blaine looks down at him, a quick smile, and blushes, “thanks.”
“We were sad to not see you at rehearsals but The Singsations benefit greatly.”
“Yeah, I felt bad about it…” he said, rubbing the back of his neck, “but it just wasn’t going to work.”
“Well,” Kurt replied, “acapella isn’t for everyone.”
“Funny enough, it wasn’t the acapella part.”
At that, Kurt’s not sure what to say. He wants to ask what the problem was then.
“Sorry, did you just come here to ask why I didn’t join the Apples?” Blaine asked.
“Um no, Amy said you warm up here before rehearsals.” Which was Kurt’s way of stalling. “I…”
This is exactly why Kurt hadn’t had a boyfriend before Adam: he was too nervous to make the first move.
Blaine is sitting on the edge of the stage now so they’re almost level. Kurt could just push his legs apart, stand between them, and kiss him. That’s all he wants to do.
“I’ve seen you around campus a lot.” Four times.
“Me too,” Blaine said, which has Kurt smirking slightly. So he did notice him too. Then Blaine continues and knocks that smirk right off his face, “how’s your boyfriend?”
Well, Kurt should’ve expected that blow. His and Adam’s relationship was pretty well-known. In just two weeks since the breakup, Kurt’s surprised more people aren’t gossiping about it.
Honesty is the best policy, right?
“We broke up.”
“Oh,” Blaine replied, “I’m sorry to hear that.”
“Are you?” Kurt asked, “because I’m not sorry at all. I should’ve done it sooner. We weren’t meant to be together as long as we were.”
“You broke up with him?” Blaine asked, confused. “But you seemed so in love.”
“A year ago, I would’ve agreed with you but one too many problems later it was never going to work,” Kurt told him, “but that’s not why I’m here either.”
“So, why are you here? I was pretty sure you didn’t know I existed.”
“I definitely do,” Kurt said, “and now it’s my turn to ask if you’re single.”
Blaine blushed again, “Not sure that’s what I meant earlier.”
“It’s what I meant.”
“I’m not seeing anyone right now, I’ve been pining after this upperclassman who was with someone.”
“Oh yeah?” Kurt asked.
“Yeah.”
Kurt took a step closer and placed his palms on Blaine’s knees.
“Well, I think he likes you too.”
Then, he pushes his legs open with no resistance from Blaine. It isn’t Kurt who leans in first though.

New person, same mistakes (1)
This was requested a very long time ago. I disappeared bc school is hard lmao. I’m back and will take requests!
Summary: After losing your parents, you move to the OBX with your cousin to continue your teenage years. The RULE makes for unsteady relationships, and several heartbreaks.
Warnings: mentions of sex, drug use, abuse, violence , read at your own risk.
Kie and her family were such angels for letting you come stay with them. After losing your parents, a new way of life was so incredibly refreshing. You were finally finding out who you were. Your aunt and uncle were so accommodating, and Kie made it much easier to make friends.
After a long day on the boat, you were finally stepping off onto steady ground. Your legs were sore, skin burning from the blistering sun, and to say you were dehydrated would be an understatement. The boys only brought alcohol along, and you and Kie had brought along some Capri suns, but ran out halfway through the day. The alcohol was still in your system, and you slowly trotted to the chateau, cooler in hand making the trek no easier.
“Hey, let me get that.” John b spoke, coming to your side. You looked at the brunette boy, his freckles prominent due to the sun exposure.
“Uh, it’s okay John b, I’ve got it.” You sighed, refusing the help of your former flame.
“Seriously, give it here.” He sighed, his hand brushing yours as he took the cooler from your grasp.
You lied there, completely bare with the brunette boy sighing next to you.
“We can’t keep doing this.” John b broke the silence.
You froze, trying to comprehend the words that just fell past his lips.
“W-what?” You said, rising and letting the cover fall exsposing your bare chest.
“Cmon y/n, you know the rule.” He breathed, standing from the bed to put his clothes back on.
“What? The stupid no pogue on pogue macking? You’re really gonna try to enforce that now?” You scoffed, standing to get dressed as well.
John b looked at you, “if the others found out, they would flip. And we’ve been best friends for years. I feel like we should stop while we’re ahead.”
“Seriously? Stop while we’re ahead?” You scoffed, pulling your shoes on “ I’m pretty sure they’ve got a pretty good idea about what’s going on already.”
“Maybe I just want to stop.” He said, making you freeze once again.
You slowly turned to face him, trying your best to keep the tears from spilling over your eyes.
“You want to stop? What happened to love John B? Huh? Was that all a stupid play to get in my fucking pants?” You spoke, your voice raising slightly.
John b shot his hands out towards you, in an effort to keep you calm. “Y/n! They’re outside, don’t wake them up!”
“Whatever John b.” You scoffed, grabbing your things and flinging the door to his room open.
You quickly made your way through the living room, seeing JJ smoking God knows what on the couch.
“Hey, where are you going?” He asked, his face suddenly scrunching in concern as John b came out behind you.
“Home- kie’s- what the fuck ever!” You groaned, finally making your way out of the chateau.
JJ watched as you got in your car, and swiftly drove off, dirt flying up behind your tires.
“John b-“
“Don’t, it’s nothing.” He sighed, dropping his arms to his side and making his way to the fridge.
“Y/n?” You wer suddenly brought out of your thoughts when JJ spoke to you.
John B had long ago made it into the chateau, and you and JJ were the only ones outside.
“Uh yeah, what’s up J?”
“Well you were just kinda standing here, not moving.” He told you.
“Yeah, just, lost in my thoughts I guess.” You stifled a laugh.
He nodded, and the two of you made your way through the thick summer air to the chateau.
Kie always told you that you were too good for John b, he didn’t really know what he had when he had it.
It took months, but you finally got back into the dating game eventually. And so say the other pogues were happy for you would be a lie.
You missed John b, you missed what the two of you had. But you were with someone else now.
Before you entered the chateau, tires crunched onto the rocks, signaling someone pulling into the chateau.
You turned to see the all to familiar car, music blasting for everyone to hear.
You rolled your eyes as your boyfriend stepped out of the car, strolling up to your place on the porch causing JJ to scoff.
You slapped him lightly
“I’m gonna go inside before I kill someone.” He spoke, causing your boyfriend to roll his eyes.
As JJ stepped over the threshold into the small house, your boyfriend wrapped his hands around your waist.
“Hey rafe.” You giggled, turning into his chest and inhaling his woody sent.
“Hey babe.” He sighed, slightly stumbling as he pulled you in even closer.
“Woah, are you okay?” You questioned, tugging away to get a better look at his face.
He was flushed, warm with beads of sweat cascading down his forehead.
“Of course I am babe.” He brushed you off, moving his head to place a rather rough kiss on your neck.
“Rafe, what are you doing? We are literally on John B’s porch.” You spoke, trying to push his heavy weight off your body.
“Cmon baby, let’s go get in the car and I’ll make you feel good, yeah?” He purred, his hands snaking up your bikini top.
“Rafe!” You said loudly, finally mustering the strength to push him off you.
“What’s your deal?” He yelled, shocking you at his sudden outburst.
With wide eyes, you scoffed, “what’s my deal? What’s yours! You’re literally trying to get into my pants on someone’s porch!”
“You don’t want me.” He deadpanned, taking his sunglasses off and running his hands through his hair.
“Of course I want you, just not right now, an-and not on a front porch for Gods sake!” You responded, pulling your face into his hands.
“Rafe,” you questioned, staring into his eyes concern and fear bubbling in your stomach.
“Rafe, are you high right now?” You whispered.
He rolled his eyes, “it doesn’t matter y/n, what matters is you don’t want to have sex with me, you want to break up!” He nearly cried, sitting on the steps with his hands pulling at his hair.
“Baby, of course I want you. But not while you’re high off God knows what! What have you been doing?”
“Just get away from me!” He yelled, swatting his hand at your legs before standing to walk to his car.
You jumped back in surprise, and watched as your boyfriend stalked off to his car before swiftly pulling off onto the street.
You were shocked to say the least, why was he being like this? You gave him every part of you, sometimes when you didn’t even want to. All you wanted to do was please him, make him happy.
You turned to see your friends watching intently from inside, and your cheeks flushed hot with embarrassment.
You opened the door to silence, other than the light ping of a bottle cap hitting the counter as JJ brought a cool beer to his lips.
“Are you okay?” Kie began.
You scanned the faces in the room, some of concern and others reading disappointment.
“Let’s just go home.” You sighed, turning to begin walking out. Kie said bye to the boys and quickly followed you onto the path.
“What was that?” She questioned, the orange glow from the sun casting beautiful shadows across the water.
“I don’t know.” You sighed, continuing the walk to your home, or, Kie’s home.
You tried calling Rafe a million times that night, laying in bed contemplating what you did wrong. Why did he feel like he needed to use drugs, were you not enough for him, like you weren't enough for John B?
thankfully, a light knock at your door pulled you out of your thoughts. A blonde head of messy hair peaked around the corner of you door.
“Are you dressed?” JJ’s voiced sounded, and you just curled up into your covers more, willing him to go away.
“I’m coming in wether you like it or not, and to be honest I don’t really care if you’re dressed or not.”
Once JJ fully stepped into the room, he contemplated following kie’s orders to drag you along to the kegger.
“JJ I don’t want to go.” You spoke, staying put in your mountain of blankets.
“Well kie is gonna kick my ass if i don’t come downstairs with you, so this isn’t really about you.”
Sighing, you sat up to see JJ’s lips quirked into a smile. You knew she really would kick his ass, so for the betterment of your friend you obliged.
“okay, but I’m not going to have fun.” You told him, and he chuckled softly.
“That’s okay, come on you can wear that, we’re already running late.” He said, pulling you out the door.
The kegger wasn’t too crazy, just a handful of people and a cool night. You sat in a lawn chair, eyes on the fire when you felt a presence next to you. you were met with those all too familiar hazel eyes.
“Hey.” he spoke.
you cleared your throat, “Hey John B.”
He sighed, kicking sand as he rested his chin in his hands. He took a deep breath before sighing,
“I just thought you should know that I’m with sarah now.”
you rose your eyebrows, “Now? You were with her before we broke up, and then threw me away like I meant nothing to you.”
He sighed and stood before saying, “Y/n I loved you, I really did-“
“Yeah but you love Sarah more, don’t you?” You chuckled dryly, bringing your beer to your lips.
“Y/n we-“
“Just go John b, I don’t want to hear it.”
He slowly stalked away, joining the blonde girl who had no idea you’ve had your hands on every inch of his body. Touched every dimple and freckle that littered his skin.
Before you could spiral any further, a loud motor lured you from your thoughts.
seriously, who would bring a motorcycle out here?
Oh, thats who.
You stood apprehensively as Rafe made his way to you.
“Hey baby.” He smiled, wrapping you tightly in a hug.
“Rafe where did you get that motorcycle?” You asked him.
“Don’t worry about it! Do you wanna come back to my place?” He asked, placing his hands on your hips, slowly drinking in your appearance.
“Um, no not right now.” You said, notice the same dilated pupils you had seen just hours earlier.
“Rafe, your’e high.” You scoffed, pulling away from him.
“Yeah, so what,” He chuckled, reaching into his pocket retrieving a bag of a curious white powder, “You want some?” He offered, pushing the bag to you.
“What! No!” You said, shaking your head at the boy in front of you.
“Whats your problem Y/N? Just take some, it makes you feel good.” He pushed further, dumping some of the contents onto his finger.
He thrust his powder covered digit towards your face, and you turned away in disgust.
“No Rafe.”
“Cmon, stop being a bitch and take it.” He harshly urged, grabbing you by the back of your head, gripping your hair and placing his finger under your nose.
You thrashed in his grip, before finally falling to the ground. White powder falling over you, almost like the snow from back home.
“Seriously! You fucking bitch! Do you know how much that cost me!” He yelled, throwing his hands up in anger.
He was starting to catch the attention of the others around you, especially JJ.
“Rafe I-I’m sorry.’ You choked out, starting to stand when a blunt force rammed into your side.
You screamed in pain as you fell back into the sand. A dull throbbing shooting through your body.
Did he just kick me? You struggled to sit up as he continued his mindless yelling.
Instantly someone was at your side, helping you up as you watched JJ and pope hold Rafe from doing any more damage.
tears spilled over your cheeks, and your body racked with sobs as kie pushed your hair out of your face, trying to calm you down.
Of course John b wasn’t here to help
Rafe noticed your tears, and he instantly calmed, his face softening.
“Oh, y/n I am so sorry-”
“Shut up Rafe, we’re through!” You screamed at him, sobbing harder as kie held you against her body.
she shot at look at JJ and pope, making JJ say, “Okay man, you gotta go.”
“No! Y/n I’m sorry!” He cried, fighting against the two boys once more.
“I said go man!”JJ raised his voice, forcefully pushing Rafe back to the bike he came in on.
Rafe sighed, and turned pulling his hair and kicking sand.
JJ made his way over to you, standing behind you and placing his hands on your shoulders while kie continued to tame your sobs.
“JJ h-he kicked m-me.” You choked out, and he whispered a soft I know in your hair.
JJ nodded kie off, and she took the hint, allowing you to fall into JJs grasp.
“Cmon, let’s go get you cleaned up, yeah?”
You nodded, leaning into him as he held your arm to aid your limp.
“Where’s John b?” You whispered, and JJ kept quiet, slowly leading you back to the chateau.
The others started to clear the party, wanting you to be able to calm down alone.
Once again, someone treated you like you were nothing. Maybe you are trash. Where did you go wrong?
JJ slowly walked by your side, letting you lean into him before you reached the porch of the chateau.
“JJ, I-I’m sorry.”
“What? You have nothing to be sorry for?” He spoke, leading you through the kitchen and into the small bathroom.
“You- you told me about him, you warned me, a-and I didn’t listen.” You sobbed, JJ slowly easing you down onto the closed seat of the toilet.
“Sometimes you can’t help who you fall in love with, it’s not your fault. You have nothing to be sorry for. And he’s lucky I didn’t bash his face in right there.” He said, squatting down to your level and Placing his hand on your chin to make you look at him.
Tears continued spilling out of your Y/E/C eyes, as JJ moved the sand clumped strands of hair out of your face.
His blue eyes looked into yours, and for a moment he contemplated his next moves, should he go beat the fucker up?
But he decided he needed to be here with you.
“You need to clean up, do you want me to leave you or?”
“I-I don’t think I can, my side really hurts.” You choked, steadying yourself in the blondes shoulder.
“Okay, I’m gonna go find kie-“
“No JJ, it’s fine, I just want to get cleaned up so I can lay down.” You told him, looking back up to meet his eyes.
“Okay, I’ll run you a bath.” He spoke softly, placing a comforting hand on your shoulder before starting the water.
“I’m used to people seeing me at this point.” You whispered, as he helped you stand and remove your clothing.
“What?” JJ was confused.
“I never really wanted to do the things Rafe wanted me to, I just thought I had to. I didn’t want him to leave me. But I guess it never really mattered.”
JJ wanted to cry, and go beat the shit out of the boy who forced you into things, kicked you, and made you feel like shit.
“You don’t ever have to worry about him again, I got you. I promise.” He said, lowering you into the warm tub water.
You closed your eyes as the warm water hit the throbbing bruise on your side, you continued crying as the events replayed in your head.
JJ slowly leaned you back to wash the clumps of dirt and sand out of your hair, your body limp as he held you.
His face scrunched up in concentration, seeming to have never washed another persons hair before.
You watched as his eyes focused on your h/c locks, rinsing them tenderly as to not cause you any unnecessary pain.
He raised you, water cascading down your back when a knock sounded at the door.
“Yeah?” JJ questioned, dunking a washcloth in the water and lathering it with soap.
“JJ, have you seen y/n?” Kies voice sounded from outside the bathroom.
“Yeah, she’s In here.” He spoke, beginning to wash your arms and torso as kie pushed the door open.
She gasped at the sight of her cousin, kneeling down beside JJ.
“Y/n...”
“I’m okay.” You croaked, throat sore from sobbing.
“That bruise is bad, do you think you need to go to the doctor?” She asked you, pushing strands of wet hair from your face as jj ran the washcloth over the forming purple and red contusion on your ribs.
You gasped and he let a soft sorry fall past his lips.
“I think it’s ok.” You whispered, as JJ finished and grabbed a towel to help you from the tub.
“I um- need clothes.” You whispered, clinging on to JJ as you stepped from the now cool water.
“Okay, I have some you can borrow.” He told you, sitting you down on the toilet to retrieve some clothes he had left in the chateau.
Kie looked at you concerned, wondering what you were thinking.
“I would’ve helped you with the bath you know.” She told you, sitting on the counter top.
“I know, I’m okay with JJ though.” You whispered, twirling your hair into a bun.
“Hey, are you alright?” Pope spoke, coming into the bathroom.
“Uh yeah, a little shaken but I’m fine.” You smiled.
He smiled back at you, falling into conversation.
Jj was rummaging through his room in the chateau, trying to find something decent to let you borrow. He could hear noises coming from John Bs room, and he rolled his eyes at the fact John b was to caught up with a kook to even know what had just happened to you.
Jj returned to the bathroom with a T-shirt and boxers, handing them to you before walking out with Pope to let kie help you change.
“He’s lucky I didn’t bash his face in man.” Jj sighed, leaning over the kitchen counter.
“What a dick.” Pope responded, falling onto the couch.
“John b doesn’t even know.” Jj said, looking to his friend.
“I know.”

Like You Mean It (Taywhora) - Holtzmanns
read on ao3 | word count: 2930
Tayce is not sure when A’whora put her number down as her emergency contact, but if she’s still kicking, she’s gonna kill her for it.
It’s just appendicitis. That’s it. A’whora’s fine, the nurse on the phone had even said that they got to it before it burst, and now the only issue that A’whora still has left is her penchant for cheesy jokes. She’s okay. So why are Tayce’s palms feeling this clammy as she pushes past the crowds milling about in the hospital reception?
In which anaesthesia makes A'whora brave enough for the both of them.
A/N: Well hello! Haven’t ventured past my branjie bubble for a long while, though these two have absolutely captured my heart. Figured a nice little one shot would be a good place to start. Thank you Writ for being the best and betaing, and Pop for helping my Canadian ass with lingo. Title is from Mean It by Cash Cash & Wrabel. Enjoy and definitely let me know what you think!
Tayce is not sure when A’whora put her number down as her emergency contact, but if she’s still kicking, she’s gonna kill her for it.
It’s just appendicitis. That’s it. A’whora’s fine, the nurse on the phone had even said that they got to it before it burst, and now the only issue that A’whora has left is her penchant for cheesy jokes. She’s okay. So why are Tayce’s palms feeling this clammy as she pushes past the crowds milling about in the hospital reception?
The day surgery floor is a little run down, the No Phones, Please sign on the wall straight out of the 1990s with pictures of old brick phones with antennas sticking out of the top. The beds are separated with curtains rather than rooms, and Tayce is about to ask a nurse with glasses balanced on the tip of her nose about A’whora, before a piping voice at the far end of the ward answers the question for her.
“James. Jimmy. Jimbo. Is orange juice really the only option? You haven’t got blackcurrant or grape or anything like that? Are you sure this is room service?”
“This isn’t room service, ma’am.”
Tayce has to hold back a laugh at the sight of a truly stricken A’whora and her thoroughly bemused nurse with a capri sun in hand. A’whora looks as if she’s trying to come up with a response, her mouth open and her eyes slightly squinted, and Tayce can almost see the cogs turning in her brain. Tayce pushes the curtain around her back, the sound causing A’whora’s head to turn towards her almost sluggishly, her face lighting up in a loopy grin.
“Tayce! What are you doing here? You got a room at this hotel, too?”
Tayce snorts, coming around the side of the bed. Admittedly, the sight of the wires and IVs makes her heart beat a bit faster, a reminder that a few hours ago A’whora was knocked out in surgery with her side cut open.
But she’s okay now. That’s what matters.
“S’not a hotel, you idiot. You went and blew your guts up,” Tayce grins, one that turns into a snicker when A’whora’s brow furrows and her mouth drops open.
“What’d I do that for?”
Tayce pulls up a chair beside the bed. “You were saying last week that you were bored. Decided to go rogue and make something exciting happen, did you?”
“Doesn’t feel too exciting. Jiminy over here only has a capri sun, and we both know it tastes like piss,” A’whora pouts, leaning her head back against her pillow, and Tayce can’t help but shoot an apologetic look towards the nurse.
“Be nice to the man, Rory, he’s taking care of you. I’ll grab a coke from the concourse for you later.”
A’whora’s nose wrinkles, her lips pursing together. “Can’t you get me a beer instead?”
“Quite picky for someone stuck in a hospital bed in a backless gown with your arse out,” Tayce says, raising an eyebrow, but A’whora looks like she hasn’t even heard her, from the way her eyes are scanning Tayce’s features.
“Tayce?”
“Yes?”
“You’re pretty.”
A’whora lets out a giggle, and the dopey grin on her face lets Tayce know that it’s all the pain meds, really, making her say something like that. She pushes down the way her heart flips over in her chest a little bit, because A’whora really doesn’t need to know how she has her wrapped around her finger without being aware of it.
Maybe flat-sharing with her mate that she’d hooked up with as a fresher hasn’t been the smartest of Tayce’s decisions. She’s good at compartmentalising, she knows it, having stayed friends with a few of her exes because she’s good at letting go, at leaving no hard feelings behind.
But there’s something about A’whora that’s kept Tayce from being able to do the same thing with her. Maybe it’s because Tayce knows what she looks like in comfy pyjamas and a top knot on her head, maybe it’s because A’whora loves making pancakes on the weekend and always makes a stack for Tayce, too. A’whora always knows when she’s annoyed by something, and isn’t afraid of prodding her until she opens up. Yeah, it’s a bit much to have someone insistently poking at her shoulder until she talks about her feelings instead of sulking about it quietly, but it’s A’whora. It means A’whora cares.
She always has.
But Tayce has perfected the art of hiding her feelings behind a mask of cool indifference and her sense of humour. She’s always the one sitting on A’whora’s bed and giving her opinions on her outfit ideas before a date, always the one ready with ice cream and a bottle of wine when A’whora comes home grumbling about how she’s never going to find the right one. Tayce is there, always there, even when A’whora laments about how she wants someone who cares for her, someone who loves her for who she is, someone who really sees her, and she has to stop herself from giving in and telling A’whora to see who’s right in front of her.
Tayce may like her best friend, but her best friend doesn’t need to know that.
But right now, A’whora’s higher than a kite and gazing at her with a sense of awe in her eyes and it’s a bit disconcerting, really, because Tayce isn’t used to having that look directed at her. It’s unfiltered, as if A’whora is pushing past the curtains that Tayce likes to keep closed to see what she’s truly feeling.
A’whora’s dreamy laugh is enough to let Tayce know that she really doesn’t have much to worry about, in terms of A’whora noticing anything. “Really pretty. A princess. Princess Tayce.”
Good lord.
“Does that make you a knight, then?” Tayce asks, even though she’s usually the one to make sure they get home safely on nights out when they’re drunk off their tits, the one who scowls at men who won’t leave A’whora alone.
“I’ll protect ya.” A’whora points at her and her movements are sluggish, her eyes slipping closed as she yawns, and Tayce has to ignore the way it makes her heart clench.
Her flatmate’s too damn cute for her own good.
Tayce’s chair creaks as she leans back, watching the way A’whora’s breaths even out and her movements begin to still. She pulls out her phone, and the flurry of texts coming through the group chat is not a surprise in the least.
Lawrence of Glasgow-ia: bet they’re shagging in the on-call rooms by now
Lawrence of Glasgow-ia: grey’s anatomy style
Ellie no Diamonds: not when a’whora’s sides are split in two ‘cause of surgery
Lawrence of Glasgow-ia: tayce already split her in two
Tayce snorts, shaking her head. Lawrence never fails to take any opportunity to rip the piss out of them.
Tayce-lor Swift: I can read, u ghoul
Bim Bons Bouls: didn’t u once say u got held back in reception
Bim Bons Bouls: all at 4 years old
Tayce-lor Swift: someone had to bully the little demons in my class
Tayce-lor Swift: they deserved it so I did a good deed really
Ellie no Diamonds: that’s nice and all but is a’whora still alive or
Lawrence of Glasgow-ia: we interrupted their sweet reunion ells, have a little respect
Tayce-lor Swift: oh piss off
Tayce-lor Swift: she’s high off her tits and fast asleep
Lawrence of Glasgow-ia: was the strap that good
Tayce-lor Swift: lawrence next time it’s on sight
Lawrence of Glasgow-ia: u wish
Ellie no Diamonds: oh thank goodness she’s ok
Bims Bons Bouls: facetime us later when she wakes up I want to see drugged up a’whora
Lawrence of Glasgow-ia: as if we don’t witness that every saturday night
Bims Bons Bouls: u have a point
Tayce shuts her phone when the conversation lulls, shoving it back in her pocket in favour of glancing at A’whora again. She looks smaller when she’s asleep like this, surrounded by wires and a monitor hanging above them in the corner. The sight makes Tayce swallow hard, because, theoretically, she knows A’whora is okay. She’ll be fine with some ice lollies and some bed rest, but if she hadn’t had surgery in time? Things could have ended very differently.
Tayce doesn’t want to think about that.
It’s a lot easier to protect A’whora when Tayce is in control of the situations around them. Times like where she watches A’whora’s drink from the corner of her eye, to make sure no one around them has the audacity to try anything stupid, or when she gets A’whora into pyjamas and wipes off her makeup after nights out before they’re out cold in one of their beds. A’whora’s more than capable of holding her own, Tayce knows that. She’s not small or weak and she’s ready to shout at whoever even tries to look at her the wrong way, but it just means that Tayce has to keep an eye out for her so that it stays like that.
Times like this, though, Tayce feels helpless. She’s not Cherry, out there saving lives with the NHS and she can’t do anything for A’whora at a time like this, either, not when A’whora needs time and healing and sleep. She wishes that bundling up A’whora in a blanket would be enough to fix her, the way that it is when A’whora’s nursing yet another ruined Tinder date over some ice cream with her at three in the morning.
“Tayce?”
A’whora’s stirring beside her, a little furrow between her brows that Tayce wants to smooth out for her.
“Yes, baby?”
“Why don’t you like me?” A’whora’s bottom lip is pushing out just a smidge, but enough that Tayce wants to run a hand through her hair, calm her down from what her anesthesia addled brain is making her experience.
“What are you on about? ‘Course I like you, you’re my best mate, you goon,” Tayce murmurs, reaching for A’whora’s hand and rubbing her thumb along the crease of her palm, as if it’ll calm the sudden hitch in A’whora’s breath.
“No, no, I…you know what I mean,” A’whora’s gaze drops, a sigh on her lips. “Forget it.”
Maybe there’s a chance that A’whora won’t remember this anyway, when she’s properly woken up and out of the hospital. Maybe whatever Tayce lets herself say right now won’t matter at all, because the consequences of her actions will be wiped clean when A’whora’s anaesthesia has worn off.
Maybe the risk of falling off the cliff that they’re dangling from is a little bit smaller than it normally is.
So Tayce steels herself, pushes the soles of her feet into the ground. “Not ‘forget it’. Tell me what you’re thinking.”
“You should have kissed me that next morning. I was waiting for it.” For someone on painkillers, A’whora looks surprisingly lucid, her gaze enough to lock Tayce in, keep her from looking away.
“When?” It’s a useless question, because Tayce already knows the answer.
When they’d hooked up during freshers week, Tayce had left A’whora’s flat as soon as she woke up, because she’d just been another one night stand. Back when Tayce had no idea that A’whora would become one of her friends just a few weeks later, her closest friend a few months after that.
They’ve never really talked about it, keeping it an elephant in the room - or rather, in the flat that they share now - because they’ve had other hookups and girlfriends and they’re just mates, nothing more. Mates who have stuck around for much longer than any other partners.
It’s all hearsay at this point, unspoken words between them that Tayce has been thinking and she knows A’whora has been, too. It’s been easier not to, and to just let things play out because even though the sense of longing has coated Tayce’s heart for years at this point, talking is too much. Talking takes the coating and hardens it, making it impossible to free herself from if she needs to.
“Do y’know why none of my dates ever work out?” A’whora’s let her earlier question go, and Tayce wants to thank her for it.
“Why’s that?”
“They’re not you.”
Shit.
“Could’ve saved yourself some time and asked me out instead, then,” Tayce keeps her voice light, as if her stomach isn’t turning, as if her feet aren’t tapping on the ground because of the electric current running through her veins.
A’whora’s face doesn’t break into a smile, despite Tayce’s lighthearted tone. “Would you have said yes, though? Or brushed it off and taken it as a joke?”
“Who’s to say, really?”
“You’re an idiot,” A’whora rolls her eyes, and really, Tayce can’t fault her for it.
She’s not wrong. Not when A’whora’s capable of tying Tayce’s words into a knot of terribly worded explanations and attempts at jokes to hide the fact that her heart is pounding in her chest, that they’re walking on a tightrope so thin they could fall off any moment.
But Tayce still has reassurance of one fact, the most important of them all, and she clings to it as she says it out loud.
“And yet, you love me.”
“Unfortunately.”
“For what it’s worth, I do love you, too.” Tayce mumbles under her breath, because she’s dug herself into enough of a hole at this point.
May as well bury herself in it.
“Christ, take me out to dinner first, at least,” A’whora scoffs, but she’s smiling, the kind that reaches her eyes and is filled with mischief.
“Oh, so now you’re finding it funny?” Tayce grins, shaking her head, and sure, she’s still a little sweaty and she’s aged approximately ten years from the conversation, but part of her feels a bit lighter too.
A bit more hopeful.
Because maybe, just maybe, the two of them can have a chance at something. That is, if A’whora wakes up and remembers everything.
“Tayce! Get in here!”
Tayce pops her head into A’whora’s room, frowns when she sees her standing in front of her wardrobe. “Aren’t you supposed to be on bedrest for another day? What’re you doing up?”
A’whora scoffs, waving a hand. “I’m fine. You need to help me with picking out a dress, c’mere.”
“A dress for what? You’re not leaving the house ‘til that incision is healed, young lady,” Tayce tuts, and she has to ignore the fact that she sounds just like her own mum.
A’whora shoots her a look. “Are you daft? Have you forgotten already? You’re taking me out this weekend.”
“This weekend?” Tayce can’t help the fact that her voice comes out in a bit of a squeak, because she doesn’t remember deciding on a date and time but…
It means A’whora hasn’t forgotten.
Tayce hasn’t pushed her since coming home from the hospital, focusing on giving her the chance to heal and feel a little better rather than approaching the issue. Yeah, maybe she’s guilty of falling back into the same pattern that’s gotten the two of them here in the first place, but she’s wanted to give A’whora the chance to broach the subject before pushing it onto her.
A’whora shrugs. “Work something out. I’m expecting my socks to be knocked right off with you.”
“Kinky,” Tayce gets out, but she can feel the way her face is breaking out into a smile, threads of excitement and promise and the chance to maybe not fuck it up again.
“I’ll help you pick something out once I’ve decided where we’re going. For now, it’s back to bed with you,” Tayce grins, pointing at A’whora’s rumpled sheets.
They can work this out. They can go through the shams of going on a date like normal people and as if they’re not already half in love with each other. Maybe Tayce can kiss her again.
Christ. It’s as if she’s a fifteen year old again with absolutely no game to speak of. Frankly embarrassing.
But A’whora doesn’t seem to mind, from the way her eyes are gleaming. “I’ll climb in if you join me.”
Tayce snorts but walks around to the other side of the bed nonetheless, the side that’s become hers from all the Netflix and late night chats and so called platonic snuggles. “No funny business, though. You have to heal first.”
A’whora climbs under the covers, and her slight wince as she lays down makes Tayce’s chest tighten. Despite her big talk, she’s still not fully better just yet.
“Serious business only, got it. Now come and snuggle me, isn’t that supposed to speed up recovery?”
“I don’t think medical advice from Grey’s Anatomy is exactly sound.”
“And yet, you’re under the covers, too,” Awhora mumbles, letting out a yawn.
She snuggles into Tayce’s side and Tayce lets her, running her fingers up and down A’whora’s back in the way she knows never fails to lull her to sleep when she’s tired.
They’ll work it out. Whatever this is. They will, because the other option is letting the words hang in the air unspoken and Tayce isn’t sure she can go back to that.
So she’ll kiss A’whora good morning, or evening, rather, once she wakes up from her nap. She’ll take her out this weekend, something not too strenuous because she still needs to rest. They can have another go at their freshers one night stand with years and years of friendship and context and caring for each other.
After this long, Tayce is ready for it.

part 1 | part 2 |  part 3 | part 4 | epilogue
Tumblr media
1.
When you met Xavier Plympton, your relationship had been strictly platonic. You expected it to remain that way, despite the fact he was funny, empathetic, good looking, and at times, a little dumb, endearingly so.
So when you started to fall for him, you continually brushed it off.
Oh, it's just a phase, you'd think to yourself as Xavier sheepishly wiped down the kitchen after using the Ninja blender and not securing the lid tightly enough. Or the time he and his friend, Chet, spent hours in your cramped living room arguing because they couldn't figure out how to set up the Roku Xavier bought instead of paying for cable. You watched in amusement, sipping your smoothie, wrapped in your blanket until they finally figured it out.
The little things Xavier would do for you also did not help. He'd make your coffee in the morning, or make dinner on nights you'd run late or grab food on the way home, ready to pig out and watch Netflix. The little things you never thought would make you fall for someone, did.
When your first anniversary of living together passed, Xavier bought a box of Capri-Suns and put some balloons in the living room when you arrived home from work. Your feet were aching, and you were ready to take a hot shower and curl up in bed. Xavier's infectious smile made you forget all of the seemingly endless bad things that had happened to you that day.
Still, you continued to hide your true feelings. Xavier never indicated he felt the same for you, and you were afraid of getting in too deep just to become disappointed.
It was like watching a Hallmark movie enfold in front of you when your best friends, Montana and Brooke soon realized you had feelings for him.
"You should tell him, y/n," Brooke said, her eyes bright, she was quite the romantic.
"Yeah, it's unfortunate watching you pine over him," Montana said, shrugging at you when you glared at her. "What? All I'm saying is that it's sad, and you deserve to be happy," she said. Brooke nodded in agreement.
"And if he doesn't like me back? I might lose him for good," you said, pushing that wicked thought away as fast as it came. "I don't want to lose him."
Brooke and Montana shared a look before changing the subject. You still caught the glimpses they threw you throughout the evening.
That was last weekend, and now that Friday was slowly approaching, you anxiously watched as the clock ticked to the time your shift ended. Xavier wanted everybody to go out and have a good time tonight, and he claimed he was bringing along a "special guest." You immediately assumed it was Brooke's boyfriend, Ray, who was away for work and was supposed to be home a day early to surprise her.
You were... kind of correct.
Ray was there, but so was another woman.
Who Xavier introduced as his girlfriend.
The initial shock at his words quickly manifested on your face. It was more horrifying when not only Brooke and Montana looked at you, but Chet and Ray as well. You hid your face with your hair as Xavier proudly introduced his friends to the redhead who was clinging to his waist.
"-and my roommate, y/n," he gestured to you with a grin.
You slowly waved at her, ignoring the sinking feeling in your belly as she slowly sized you up and down before smiling and waving back. For a quick second, you felt judged. Until you realized you had also checked her out for the simple fact of wondering what she had that you didn't.
"Guys, this is Chloe," Xavier grinned down at her, before pressing a kiss to her head.
"How long have you two been together?" Ray asked, throwing his arm around Brooke, who slid her eyes from yours.
"About a month, huh babe?" Chloe smiled.
Your mouth dropped open, looking at the couple in front of you as if they grew two heads. You lived with him, and Xavier never told you about her?
How could you not know?
You continued to remain silent as everybody congratulated Xavier on his newfound romance. A part of you was angry; Xavier was one of your closest friends, you told him everything, and he did the same. For the most part.
Had she been to your apartment? When you weren't home? When you were asleep?
You were also angry that you seemed to miss all the signs. Plus, your heart had just been shattered into a million pieces, and the night had barely begun.
Xavier followed the boys to the bar, promising to pay for the first round. Chloe stayed behind, sitting down in the booth with a sigh. Montana took your hand, giving you a reassuring smile as your eyes blinked back tears.
"Aww, are you two dating?" Chloe asked, her eyes trained on your hands. You could hear her excitement. "I've always wanted lesbian friends!"
Montana smirked, squeezing you tighter. You gave her an alarmed look, but like always, Montana came through. "Only for this one, babe," she said. "Plus, we kind of only just met you, so."
You released Montana's hand, excusing yourself to go to the bathroom while Chloe started taking selfies for her Snapchat. Brooke went to find the boys as you walked to the nearest safe haven, keeping your head down.
You didn't realize that Montana had followed you until you went to lock the door. She gave you a sad smile as she let it click shut, before locking it. For a bathroom at a bar, it was nicely cleaned and smelt like peppermint.
"I didn't know if you wanted to be alone..." she whispered.
"N-No, it's fine," you said, ripping out some paper towels to dry your eyes with. "I appreciate the company."
"If I had known, I would have told you about her, Xavier kept her from me too."
"I just feel so stupid," you sniffled, turning on the water to wipe your eyes with. "To think Xavier would remain single forever until I grew a pair to tell him."
"It's not your fault!" Montana interjected.
You nodded to appease her, but deep down, you were still thinking of the redhead in the other room who was dating the person you loved most.
The night went with you sitting in the booth, watching all your friends dance and grind on each other.
Brooke had an early shift the next day and eventually joined you, swearing off alcohol for the rest of the night. She wrapped her arm around your shoulder, causing you to tear up a little.
Chloe seemed friendly, and you hated that. You wanted to find an excuse to hate everything about her, but it was almost impossible. She had tried talking to you about Xavier, but he pulled her up and away, and you had to stare at the table, so you didn't see them practically fucking through their clothes.
It was the worst when your closest friends didn't seem to notice something was up. Or they pretended not too. The boys were clueless, and you probably needed to be thankful for that. Chet wasn't always the best with dealing with "girl problems," and Ray was currently drunk off his ass. Xavier just danced with Chloe and occasionally came back to the table to suck down his drink.
One AM slowly came around, and you gathered your things, checking your phone to see it was close to dying.
"I think I'm gonna go home." you leaned over as Brooke looked up from her own. She smiled at you, pulling you into a hug, which you gratefully returned.
"Text me when you get there!" she said, saying a final goodbye as you slipped out of the booth. You shrugged on your light jacket, dodging the dancing bodies, and made your way to the entrance when an all too familiar hand gripped your arm.
"Hey! Where are you going, y/n?" Xavier asked, pressing your hand to his chest like he always has. He didn't seem to be drunk yet. "The night's still young, babe!"
You frowned at him, loving his touch, but you pulled your hand from him. "I'm not feeling well, I'm going home!" you called out over the music, refusing to meet his eyes.
"I haven't seen you all night!" he said, a pout on his face. You wanted to throw Chloe into his face, but you knew better. He deserved to hang out with who he wanted. To date, who he wanted.
"Oh, yeah, you've been busy," you said. "I gotta go, Xav," you pulled yourself from his grasp completely before slipping the hood over your head as you walked outside to your car.
When you got home, you texted your girls like you promised and slipped into the shower. You blared your favorite songs, crying when you needed to and fuming when you didn't.
You're so naive, thinking Xavier Plympton could love you.
Don't be so harsh, you then scolded yourself. But at the same time, those words hung heavily over your heart until you crawled into bed, falling fast asleep.
2.
The next few days were somewhat average. You went to work, came home, spent time with Montana or Brooke when Xavier wasn't back at his usual time.
You hadn't seen or heard anything from Chloe since the night you met her.
Almost a week after the bar, you were surprised to find Xavier lounged on the couch, wrapped up in blankets. His cheeks were rosy, and he looked tired. Oh no.
Xavier Plympton had a fever every few months, it seemed. You had always been his designated caretaker since you met him. A part of you hoped that some things could still be the same, even with him having a girlfriend.
He smiled at the sight of you until you heard rustling in the kitchen. You set your bag down in your usual spot, "Xavier, is it another fe-,"
"Xavier! Baby, your tea is ready," Chloe chirped as she came in from the kitchen. She didn't glance at you as she walked to Xavier, holding your designated mug in her hands.
"What kind?" Xavier piped up, sitting up just a bit. You continued winding down, using your ears instead of your eyes.
"Black."
You fought the urge to snicker aloud. Xavier's favorite tea was peppermint, especially when he was sick. You could almost imagine the disgust on his face.
"Oh, thanks, babe," he said lamely. Xavier sat up, gently blowing on the steaming mug in his hands. Chloe sat in the only available chair, watching him with rapt interest. You headed to your room, stripping from your work clothes, not realizing you were rushing just to run back out there.
You're not going to spy on them!
YES, I AM! You snickered to yourself, slipping on your pajamas before brushing out the tangled knots in your hair.
Xavier had laid back down when you came out, watching reruns of Judge Judy while Chloe typed on her phone. Her brows were furrowed as she concentrated, and even then, she looked gorgeous. You chewed on your lip as you crawled on the floor towards Xavier, who smiled at you when you sat in front of him.
"Hey," he rasped.
"Hey, you," you pressed a hand to his forehead, instantly feeling the heat radiating from his skin. "When did this start?"
Xavier shrugged, "I woke up this morning and felt like shit, I've been here all day,"
"Are you monitoring your temperature?" you asked.
"Yes."
"Are you staying, hydrated?"
"Yes."
"Did you wash your sheets?"
Xavier gave you a guilty yet charming smile. "No, I have not."
You laughed a bit, removing your hand from his forehead. "I'll do it for you," you glanced at the teacup on the coffee table, seeing it was barely touched. Chloe didn't seem to be paying you much mind, so you asked him if he'd like more tea. He nodded, almost aggressively as you stood up, promising to make his favorite.
The rest of the night went like this: Chloe hounded Xavier about a few outfit choices she was debating for an important meeting at her job. You made Xavier some soup, opting to reheat your leftovers from the night before. Xavier drank two cups of peppermint tea, then dozed off, leaving an awkward silence between you and Chloe. She seemed attached to her phone, but you didn't mind.
You watched television, still sitting in the same spot on the floor as Xavier softly snored in your ear. It wasn't until you were dozing off yourself that Chloe left, pressing a kiss to Xavier's hot forehead before leaving.
You had changed and washed his bedsheets, but you knew it was pointless trying to move him into bed. When Xavier was sick, he slept like he was dead. You turned off the television and gathered his dirty dishes to place them in the sink.
No matter what became of you and Xavier, or Xavier and Chloe, you knew some things would just never change. One of them is you would always care for Xavier, no matter what.
