Reviving this studyblr because I’m submitting PhD apps and taking evening classes. 

I’m Mercy. Currently I’m a research assistant and I’m in the process of finishing my applications for a PhD in public health. My personal research interests are in the maternal care workforce in the united states, professionalization, medicalization and power dynamics. In my current position I’m also working on care access and utilization among youth with disabilities and late effects of childhood cancer treatment among survivors. I also studied medieval British literature in undergrad and have worked in the early and elementary education space so you may see some of that here too.

Hi! I'm Tofu (he/him or she/her) and I am not a student. I graduated four years ago. I got a job adjacent to my degree subject that I really enjoy. Things are almost great! Except I'm still restless and unfulfilled and I miss uni life.

Turns out learning is not just the means to a perfect end, but is something I absolutely need to keep doing to thrive. So we're back to studyblr to help me work on a mix of professional and personal skills.

It's been a while since I was here and most people have graduated and moved on, so I'm looking for new people to follow, especially if we share goals!

Hello! I decided to redo my intro since I wasn't really active for some time and I am now officially a student so here we go

hi, welcome to my studyblr/bookblr re-introduction post! since my first intro post, i haven't posted regularly or accomplished any of the goals i outlined, but this is another go at that since we're in quarantine and my freshman year of college just finished (woohoo)

about me

people still call me T (like tea). now i'm a rising sophomore in university in the USA who wants to be an engineer.

my fun facts are more or less the same:

i love to read anything and everything (books, comics, manga, webtoons, etc)

i still do graphic design on the side and i've learned a lot after working as a design intern. i still wanna try and share what i make here so that i can see my progress

my go-to entertainment right now is youtube and some american tv shows (brooklyn-99, gilmore girls, this is us), but i still watch anime and kdramas

since i want to be an engineer, i have to take a lot of STEM classes that are the basic engineering requirements at pretty much every school. i also got to take some fun humanities/art classes to balance the STEM.

so in no particular order i took:

and a required writing class that was pretty much the bane of my existence (but we got through it folks, we got through it)

reflection + goals

before i get to my new goals, i wanna look back & reflect on the goals i set in the first intro post. here we go:

did not complete that python course but still learned java and foundational cs concepts in my intro class

did get a five on all my APs except one

did not read all the classics on my bookshelf

did not even get close to finish 100 days of productivity

did not start journaling every night

and did not stay active on this studyblr/bookblr

even though i didn't achieve most of my goals, i'm starting to realize that some of them were a stretch anyway (like reading all the classics on my shelf when it was hard enough to pick up a book, let alone a thick classic). my new goals are:

read all the books on my goodreads shelf right now

finish 100 days of productivity + document it with a post each day

update my portfolio

pass all my summer classes

complete at least one recreational cs project

hopefully by the end of the 100 days of productivity i'll be able to check off some of these and have posts/projects to look back on. I'm looking forward to working toward a productive summer!
