creative routines
many famous creatives have unique routines that help them stay productive and inspired. here are a few examples:
maya angelou: she would rent a hotel room to write, free from distractions. she worked from early morning until about 2 p.m., then spent the rest of the day relaxing and reviewing her work. (i love the sound of this routine).
ludwig van beethoven: he started his day with a precise coffee routine, counting exactly 60 beans per cup. he composed music in the morning and took long walks in the afternoon.
charles dickens: he wrote from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day, followed by a long walk through london, which he found essential for his creativity.
honoré de balzac: he had an intense routine, writing from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m., taking a nap, and then continuing to write until 4 p.m., fueled by up to 50 cups of coffee a day.
franz kafka: he worked a day job and wrote at night, often staying up until 3 a.m. his insomnia and vivid dreams influenced his writing style.

hi! ~a belated studyblr intro~
just realized i never did a proper intro for this blog!
so, hello, i've been flip flopping between taking lessons and self-studying piano for several years and this blog was (and still is) intended to be a studyblr to track my progress.
i'm currently self-studying as my time is split between this and STEM studies (more on that on my side blog @studentbyday) but i really really hope to finally establish a consistent practice (after struggling to do so for many years 😅) so i know i will be able to handle weekly lessons again 😤
🎓 goals for piano/music studies:
enjoy playing music (including without headphones)
establish sustainable routines so i can practice piano every day or at least every week
get over stage fright and paralyzing perfectionism
improve my sight reading
motivate myself to learn more music theory and use it to analyze my favorite songs
find fellow music enthusiasts on tumblr!
ultimately play piano at an LRCM level 🙈 (as of 2024, i am currently L6-7 in baroque/classical, L8-9 for romantic...yeah, kind of all over the place since I've been treating this very informally over the years and keep taking hiatuses lol)
💗 interests/inspirations:
classical music (my favorite composer is chopin but beethoven is a close second)
jazz
your lie in april (i read the manga online and really really wanna see the anime!)
Tiffany Poon and Animenz's playing
🎹 accumulated study tips: resources, practice strategies, coming back after hiatus, hand independence and method books
#if i consistently original content on this blog then i know i've got a good work-life balance lol#sorry if i drop off the face of the earth#i'm probably on studentbyday if i'm not on here#studyblr introduction#studyblr intro post#studyblr#musicblr#classical music#music studyblr#studyspo#study motivation#piano aesthetic#study aesthetic#studystudystudy#music is life#music is therapy#self care#mental health#chopin#beethoven#classical piano#shigatsu wa kimi no uso#your lie in april#music theory#music student#work life balance#anime music#anime aesthetic

Fucking nerd has had a very specific movement of a very specific symphony stuck in her head for days on end and it will not release her
#yesterday i finally remembered what movement and what symphony it was at least thank fuck#it was tormenting me that i couldn't remember if it was beethoven mozart or haydn#we studied multiple symphonies by all of them in my high school music understanding class#by the method of 10 or 12 influential pieces of music across the recorded range of human history that we studied all year#and every couple of weeks when we learned a new piece of vocabulary or compositional technique etc#we would cycle through them top to bottom oldest to most recent and apply that new piece of knowledge#so by the end of the year we had studied these pieces so intently that we could practically perform them in our sleep#one of the most enriching experiences i had in high school for sure especially taking it as a sophomore#i remember being so delighted by how much musical knowledge i had that none of my other musician peers in other schools did#because it meant that i got to have the joy of sharing it with them and watching the light go on in their head#anyway music and symphonies am i right#my ramblings

OTD in Music History: Celebrated German Symbolist visual artist Hugo Reinhold Karl Johann Hoppener (1868 - 1948), better known by his professional pseudonym "Fidus," is born in Lubeck. After finishing his studies and relocating to Berlin in 1892, Fidus quickly became a regular contributor to various illustrated German magazines. He created many ornamental drawings and was one of the first artists to shrewdly leverage advertising postcards in order to promote public interest in his work. Fidus was a devotee of Theosophy (a religious sect that espoused mysticism) and became interested in German mythology at a young age. Although many of his early illustrations contain dream-like abstractions, his later work tends to focus on representing peasants, warriors, and other archetypal figures displayed -- often nude -- in natural settings. Regrettably, in his personal life Fidus was an extreme political reactionary who enthusiastically embraced the rise of Nazism in the 1930s. Despite his own enthusiasm for the Nazi party, however, the Nazis did not return the favor; indeed, in 1937 much of his original work was seized and the public sale of his art within the Third Reich was forbidden. By the time he died in 1948, Fidus had faded into obscurity... it would not be until a new generation rediscovered him in the 1960s that his artistic reputation would rise once more and his aesthetic sensibilities would begin to influence the "psychedelic" concert posters which were being produced to advertise rock concerts... PICTURED: A c. 1910 real photo postcard featuring a reproduction of one of Fidus's most beautiful and moving music-related images, "Beethoven" (c. 1903).

Hi again.....Thanks for answering my ask. Do you mind if I ask your top 5 (or top 10) favorite moments from any anime (can be series or movies)? Sorry if you have already answered this ask before.....
Ohhhh this ask is fun but also pretty hard to answer cuz there are so many anime I love! Anyways: SPOILERS FOR THESE SPECIFIC ANIME UNDER THE CUT: Promare, Trigun Stampede, Classicaloid, Yuuri on Ice, Moriarty the Patriot, Tiger and Bunny, Scott Pilgrim takes off, Vanitas no Carte, Naruto and DGray Man
1) The kiss of life from Promare
This and Galo saving Lio after he had been kidnapped just gives Galo and Lio as a ship major classic disney couple vibes like Sleeping Beauty or Snow White and has essentially sedimented Galolio as one of my favourite ships of all time for the rest of my days.
2) Because I am Vash the Stampede from Trigun Stampede
youtube
Literally the moment this entire series had built up towards, the two twins’ ideologies clashing and Vash proclaiming that no matter what he will always love humanity.
3) Every time Schubert says Beethoven Senpai from Classicaloid
youtube
It’s just pure comedy gold and cracks me up EVERY TIME!
4) Victuuri Proposal from Yuuri!!! on Ice
youtube
I mean…. It’s a canon gay proposal and one of the most influential queer representations in all of Anime. How could I NOT love this???
5) Live Liam from Moriarty the Patriot
youtube
I will admit this was a hard choice between the first time Liam and Sherlock meet and the "catch me if you can, Mr. Holmes” scene, but my final decision ended up being this one. Just the build up and Sherlock being too damn stubborn to even think about letting Liam become a Martyr. The speech of talking Liam out of committing suicide for the greater good and that he is not the monster he thinks he is aaaaahhhhhh i love it all. But I love this scene especially because I am a slut for characters jumping of high places to save their loved one.
6) You are not dying, Kotetsu from Tiger & Bunny
youtube
Literally the main reason why I ship these two and believe they’re in love. Just beautiful and tragic and Barnaby having learned how to cook Kotetsu’s favourite dish aaawwweeeee.
7) Wallace’s husband from Scott Pilgrim takes off
youtube
Is it the best joke in the anime? Nah there are objectively better ones out there. Does this line live rent free in my head regardless? Yes
8) That gay ass Dance Scene from Vanitas no Carte
youtube
Gay
Gay
Homosexual
Gay
9) Gaara vs. Rock Lee from Naruto
youtube
I had loved Rock Lee since the very moment he had shown up on screen the first time, but this moment right here, especially when he took off those weights, solidified him as my favourite naruto character for eternity. Just this boys unyielding determination to achieve his dream even without being able to use any ninjutsu is remarkable.
10) The Earl plays the 14th melody from Dgray Man
youtube
It’s …. Idk how to explain it, to hear a song previously associated with the hero of the show, being played slightly off key by the main antagonist sends chills down my spine.

I'm not even using post its anymore, I'm putting up full A4 pages like Martin Luther and his theses on the church of Wittenberg
#but it's still kinda nice. this is like a biopsy of what I'm putting into my brain#and in the corner of this new ongoing mess my Beethoven quote holds strong 🙏#and a note on conversion measures I always get confused with lol#studying is not going *that* bad I guess#but there's still lots of ground to cover wrt practical exercises#not a big fan of the corrections on the previous exams. they're like. kinda vague? not as straight to the point as I'd like tbh#but we can push through I think#I have 4 days left so there's still hope#my post

Classical music may not be dying quite just yet but I desperately need the world to understand how good the works of the American Romantics is. I have no way of letting people know and it’s killing me
#SAMUEL COLERIDGE-TAYLOR!!!!!! AMY BEACH!!!! FLORENCE PRICE!!!!!!#people know about Dvorak but they don’t know about Harry Thacker Burleigh who studied at the same conservatory where Dvorak worked#he did janitorial work and manuscript copying and sang beautiful spirituals and plantation songs#and dvorak heard these beautiful songs and folded them into his own music and we hear them but we don’t hear burleigh’s lovely voice#southland sketches!!!#coleridge-taylor’s piano trio for 5 negro melodies!!!#the new world symphony#the american quartet#there’s such a beautiful particular sound and all anyone hears about is Bach or Beethoven.#tragic
