Finally it’s done😇 I did my first DTIYS challenge with @cupcakeslushie’s EW! Donnie! I redrew EW! Donnie into my own Mutant Student AU’S Donnie(currently AAAA AU’s Donnie). I hope you like it:)
+)the background
It’s Korean:) it says “Beg in front of me if you don’t wanna frickin’ die”
ok, look, raph might be the only kid who doesn't do gymnastics, but don't let that fool you. seconds later a bystander expressed doubt that he could actually do a standing backflip and he immediately inserted himself into the fray with his brothers in order to prove them wrong.
one of my hobbies is observing how different iterations of tmnt understand and use colors, for both the backgrounds and the character
87 feels like they're going to a consistent, realism look that's vaguely dependent on the setting. The stuff that should be kinda grey and brown is grey and brown with a little bit of color for the lighting. I imagine some of what they do is restricted because it's actually painted sets rather than. yknow. a digital background. The turtles Mostly stand out well enough, other than raph and donnie in that first picture they're getting a bit lost.
03 looks like they've begun to experiment with contrast, using bright colors to distinguish that Thing from the rest of the scene, but they don't do much with the turtles or the characters so sometimes they disappear into the background, like with the shot of raph on the roof. at a thumbnail size, we'd only know he's there because of his shell.
I have a hard time describing 2012's coloring. Maybe just because it uses 3d models. It utilizes both a strong sense of contrast while also maintaining a little bit of a monotone dingy darkness. Just scrolling through screenshots of a single episode yeilds a variety of scenes with strong color palettes.
rise, we all know it, i don't have to talk about it. Super vibrant colors and strong contrast. Not holding a singular color palette as sacred and putting importance on how a Vibe would color a scene, still making it beautiful while ensuring your characters stand out. i think there's also an element of fading unimportant far away things out but don't Quote me on that
I don't know about his outfit yet, since I actually suck at character design and I just heavily reference pictures from Pinterest and put a little spin on it.
i'm lowkey obsessed with mayhem april's look (as well as how everything else is designed tbh), although i still cannot tell how old she's supposed to be. fingers crossed she's older and in her 20s again
also back when rise was getting announced i drew my own april design and she had red dreds and freckles, so I am totally taking credit for that :P
more yapping: did i ever show you what my pookie got me for my birthday?
its a
pretty sure she thought Blue is kind of a meanie for how serious he looks. but hes just a silly little guy that has the ROTTMNT Donnie kind of autism
but i dont care im in love with the keychain. its my everyday food
more yapping:
do you think J.J Rocker would be Leo or Raph? (from ROTTMNT). he slays super hard like Leo but hes no athletic man. and he has the temper™ like Raph but he doesnt has a soft spot for cute animals. just for Cecil
in that case, would Kohai (Red Rapper) be Raph? or Leo?
yea i havent slept well for two nights is it too obvious
more yapping:
is DJ Yellow's spirit animal Len Kagamine yes or no
I haven’t finished rottmnt yet (im somewhere around s2 ep8) but I love how so far Hypno can be a legit threat but has the vibes of a silly goofy guy. Man just wants to be the greatest magician out there even after he was turned into a hippo. Dude could totally use his powers to turn the turtles against each other for kicks or to help him steal stuff and yet, aside from that one time he tried to kill Mikey, he hasn’t actually tried to use his powers to try to harm them. Just to make them leave him alone or leave so he can complete his schemes in peace.
