Th Russian military has been in a greater state of turmoil than it usually is.
A senior Russian general in command of forces in occupied southern Ukraine says he was suddenly dismissed from his post after accusing Moscow’s Defense Ministry leadership of betraying his troops by not providing sufficient support. Gen. Ivan Popov was the commander of the 58th Combined Arms Army, which has been engaged in heavy fighting in the Zaporizhzhia region. He is one of the most senior officers to have taken part in the bloody Russian campaign in Ukraine. Popov said he had raised questions about “the lack of counter-battery combat, the absence of artillery reconnaissance stations and the mass deaths and injuries of our brothers from enemy artillery,” in a voice note published on Telegram late Wednesday.
In military terms, Russia can't even cope with the basics. Gen. Popov blames Putin crony Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu “signed the order and got rid of me,” the general also said in the recording, as he accused the top Kremlin official of treason. “As many commanders of divisional regiments said today, the servicemen of the armed forces of Ukraine could not break through our army from the front, (but) our senior commander hit us from the rear, treacherously and vilely decapitating the army at the most difficult and tense moment,” Popov said.
Russian senior officers have been taking it on the chin lately.
Another Russian General Killed in Occupied Ukraine
Russian Lieutenant General Oleg Yuryevich Tsokov was reportedly killed in an overnight attack by Ukrainian forces in the city of Berdyansk. The information was confirmed on the Telegram channel of the mayor of Mariupol, Peter Andryushchenko, and then by an advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Anton Gerashchenko, on Twitter. Later Andryushchenko suggested that this had been an attack against the “Duna Hotel” which had been commandeered as accommodation for the Russian military leadership in the occupied town. According to local reports, cited by the mayor, the hotel was all but completely destroyed in spite of reports that anti-missile defenses were sited close to the building. Unconfirmed reports say the building may have been struck by a Storm Shadow missile.
Cheers to the UK for supplying Ukraine with Storm Shadow missiles! 🍻🇬🇧
Russian commander killed while jogging may have been tracked on Strava app
A Russian submarine commander shot to death while jogging on Monday may have been targeted by an assailant tracking him on a popular running app, according to Russian media. Stanislav Rzhitsky was killed earlier this week in the southern Russian city of Krasnodar by an “unknown person,” state news agency TASS reported, adding that “the motive for the crime is being investigated.” [ ... ] Russian media earlier reported that Rzhitsky’s killer may have used Strava, a widely available app used by runners and cyclists, to follow his movements.
Yes, this is yet another idiotic lapse in basic security by Russians. Rzhitsky was essentially broadcasting to the world his exact location with an exercise app.
Top Russian General Missing Since Mutiny Is ‘Currently Resting,’ Lawmaker Says
Russian General Sergei Surovikin, the deputy commander of Russia’s war in Ukraine—who is also known to have ties with Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin—is “currently resting” and “not available for now,” said a lawmaker from Russia’s ruling party. The comment came in response to questions Wednesday about Surovikin’s whereabouts. Surovikin, who is known in the Russian media as “General Armageddon” due to the tactics he used in the bloody Syrian civil war, is one of several notable Russian military leaders who have not been seen in public since Wagner’s aborted mutiny last month.
Of course the place where "General Armageddon" is resting could very well be a gulag.
While regular press freedom no longer exists in Russia, there is still a rather robust exchange of information on Telegram. This news of chaos and incompetence among the top military leadership will gradually filter through much of the population – including the cannon fodder at the front.

ran this morning using both strava and nike run club. and the difference was wild. avg pace difference was 40 seconds (strava was faster), and distance was off by 0.3mi (strava was farther). my apple health app had a closer distance to strava. elevation gain was higher for nike. steps were higher for nike. i did start strava a couple seconds after i started nike, and i paused strava when i had stop lights but that wasn’t very often. at least when i did my treadmill sprints i knew how fast and far i was going, that went great!
and no i am not getting a $450+ garmin
#alison rambles#i’m just going to have to use both apps and kind of avg them out#i do think strava is a little more accurate?#i am only using the apps bc i am training for a half and need to make sure im going slow lol

Strava has jumped the shark.
A couple of years ago, Strava decided it would be a good idea to start charging for their services. OK, fair enough, you want to make some money. But usually when you do that, you roll out some cool new features that will entice users to buy in. What you don’t do, if you’re smart, is take previously free features and stick them behind the paywall. But that’s exactly what they did. A lot of folks did buy in because they were desperate to be able to see their workout analytics. I didn’t go that route because frankly, I already get the same capabilities from Garmin Connect (which is “free” but hey I really paid for it when I bought my watch, which is my fourth Garmin watch). I’ve stuck around on Strava just to be able to post workouts and pics for friends to see but I’ve never been remotely tempted to subscribe. All of which makes me feel bad for friends who do subscribe and are now seeing a 50% price increase this year. That puts Strava in Training Peaks and FinalSurge territory. Lol, who are they kidding, really? Had Strava handled things a little differently I might have made them my log of choice but bad business practices and no concept of how deliver value have me now just waiting to see them fail.

Hi, Are you interested in cycling? If you do, then you’re in the right spot let’s talk about them shall we?
But, what is Cycling?
Cycling is a physical activity that involves riding a bicycle for transportation, recreation, or sport. It is characterized by the use of pedals to propel the bike forward, typically requiring coordination between the legs and upper body to maintain balance and control. Cycling offers numerous benefits, both physical and mental. Physically, it enhances cardiovascular fitness, strengthens muscles, and improves flexibility and coordination. Regular cycling can help manage weight, reduce the risk of chronic diseases, and promote overall health. Mentally, cycling can reduce stress, boost mood, and provide a sense of freedom and adventure, often allowing individuals to connect with nature and their surroundings.
As for my experience it was really fun,. I ride with my uncle, and my friends, I suddenly reached a total of 472.km in 3 months. Riding with my bicycle took me everywhere, also cycling helps me forget my problems, and also cycling helps relieve stress. My furthest I’ve gone is Tagaytay that distance is 100.96km it was tiring but fun. The app i used to record my bicycle journey was “STRAVA” this app used to track your activities, heart rate, route, distance, and etc. if you want to try it out here’s the link https://www.strava.com. Strava is a popular fitness tracking app and social network designed primarily for cyclists and runners. It allows users to record their workouts using GPS technology, track their performance over time, and connect with other athletes.
Cycling with friends refers to the practice of riding bicycles in a group, typically for recreation, fitness, or social interaction. This activity allows participants to enjoy the camaraderie of shared experiences while exploring different routes, landscapes, and terrains together. Then cycling with friends makes the ride even more fun, encourages social bonding, and allows for shared enjoyment of the outdoors. Cycling with friends is important because it enhances the overall experience of the activity by fostering motivation, support, and social connection.
Here are some helpful tips for cycling, whether you’re a beginner or looking to improve your skills:
1. Choose the Right Bike:
Select a bike that suits your riding style (road bike, mountain bike, gravel bike and etc.) and ensure it’s the right size for you.
2. Wear Proper Gear:
Invest in a good-quality helmet for safety.
Wear moisture-wicking clothing and padded shorts for comfort.
Use cycling shoes if you have clipless pedals.
3. Maintain Your Bike:
Regularly check tire pressure, brakes, and gears.
Clean and lubricate the chain to ensure smooth operation.
4. Plan Your Route:
Familiarize yourself with the terrain and traffic conditions.
Use cycling apps or maps to find safe and scenic routes.
5. Stay Hydrated:
Carry water and take regular breaks to drink, especially on long rides.
6. Practice Good Cycling Etiquette:
Signal your intentions to other cyclists and motorists.
Ride in a straight line and be aware of your surroundings.
7. Start Slowly:
If you’re new to cycling, begin with shorter rides and gradually increase your distance and intensity.
8. Work on Your Technique:
Focus on maintaining a steady cadence and proper posture to avoid strain.
Practice shifting gears smoothly to adapt to varying terrains.
9. Ride with Friends:
Group rides can be more enjoyable and provide motivation and safety in numbers.
10. Listen to Your Body:
Pay attention to how you feel. Rest if you’re fatigued, and don’t push through pain.
Using this tips make's your cycling journey more smooth, also my advice for beginners is start in short rides, focus on technique, invest in gears, basic maintenance, discuss your routes, stay hydrated, and most important be humble. Because when my first time in cycling with my friend's the first thing we do is boasting contest, because your not filipino without it, So when we took are first ride in the vermosa road we challenged ourselves to the limit, the challenge was the first who stop will do the consequence, after the loop i was the first one to stop then i used to take 10 pushups in a row without stop, it was tiring but fun.
That's all
Always ride safe! and take care.

Strava added AI to its premium app. The AI offers upbeat critiques of your overall workout and the various facets (ex heart rate). They've taught the AI to be polite and always say something positive. Occasionally, as in the example above, however it sounds a little snarky. It could have been more straightforward and just suggested I spend a little less time on the treadmill. 😂

Strava, the exercise tracking app, and Chipotle teamed up to create a competition in six different cities where a 300-meter segment next to a Chipotle was chosen and then whichever Strava user ran that designated length the most times in the month of January would win a year’s supply of Chipotle burritos. Some cities turned out in a reasonable way: New York’s winner ran the stretch 832 times, and Chicago’s winner ran it 613 times. Then there were the genuinely impressive performances: Denver’s winner did the run 1,041 times, beating out second place with 898 attempts, the Columbus winner shattered the competition with 1,000 runs along the stretch, crushing a second place with 376 runs, and the winner from Washington, D.C., hit the stretch 1,345 times, averaging 44 runs of it per day. The most impressive was L.A., where the winning score was 369 attempts. Why is that impressive? Because five people tied for it, realizing that ties in the city contest meant everyone wins, and they colluded to tie for the top score in their city with all five of them getting a year of burritos. hey Chrissy congrats on the record!! I was wondering what you use to track your runs; some kind of app I assume?
Thank you! I use Strava! I like it, and a number of my friends use it.
You can use the free version of it and it's perfectly functional. There's a premium version that gives you more in-depth analysis. I use it so much that the premium version is worth it for me. But I used it on the free tier for probably the first 2 years.
