baby, itâs cold outside!
pairing. matthew sturniolo x reader
summary. when a harsh blizzard hits boston, matt and y/n get snowed in. with the power out, they brainstorm an alternative way to keep each other warmâ and where better to do that than by the fireplace?
warnings. smut; softdom!matt, fingering (fem!receiving), unprotected sex, implied creampie, overstimulation (fem!receiving) if you squint. so much fluff. they love each other so much itâs gross.
word count. 1k
authorâs note. sorry iâm posting so late⊠BUT itâs 10:30pm EST so technically itâs on time. the smut is rushed⊠this was supposed to be longer but i was traveling today and i didnât have the energy to keep writing. whatever!! itâs just a blurb! kisses!

âi think thatâs enough candles, matt,â y/n laughed, the flickering of the flames reflected in her already shining eyes. âyouâre going to wear out the lighter.â
matt glanced up just long enough for her to catch the mischievous grin on his illuminated face, setting the pine-labeled jar down. âitâll last, baby. i can always go get us another one if it dies.â
ânot in this weather, you wonât,â the girl scolded, gazing out the window at the white void and snagging a blanket out of the nearby storage closet. âi donât care how close the corner store is, youâre not going out in that.â she shivered at the thought, coming up behind her boyfriend and draping the fluffy material across his shoulders. her fingers tickled their way around his waist, clasping tightly and hugging him close so she could relax against his back.Â
mattâs shoulders jostled her as he chuckled. âcâmon, you know iâm not that stupid. iâd just go next door and ask mr. martĂnez to lend me one.â
âplease. mr martĂnez hates us. heâd probably let you in just to push you off his balcony.âÂ
turning around in her grasp, matt opened his arms and ushered y/n into his embrace, securing the blanket to cover her frame. âthen itâs a good thing thereâs four feet of snow on the ground waiting to catch me, huh?â he swiped the tip of her nose with his knuckle, pulling her in to lay a kiss against her forehead.Â
âwhatever. iâm not going down there with a hairdryer to thaw you out. youâre on your own.âÂ
âa space heater would work better, no?â he mused with a smile. âspeaking of⊠we gotta get some heat going in here, itâs freezing. how âbout a fire, hm? keep us warm âtil they get the power lines back up?â
he felt her nod against his chest. âyou do that. iâm gonna go grab the duvet.â
âșâË
âm-mattâŠ,â y/n whined from beneath him, âplease, donât stop. please.âÂ
âiâve barely gotten started, baby,â matt spoke lowly, nosing at her flushed cheek, âwhy would i stop now?â
a breathy sigh filled the space between them, âbecause youâre evil, and youâre a tease.â
âif i was evil, would i do this?â she gasped sharply as she felt his fingers curl inside her, hitting that special, spongy spot that always left her weak in the knees. his thumb worked hard on her clit, and a shiver shot down her spine; this time, not from the cold.Â
actually, they were quite warm. matt was the one to suggest they build a makeshift bed by the fireplace, and in hindsight, y/n shouldâve known he was scheming for more. but she couldnât lie and say it was uncomfortable or impracticalâ the many pillows and blankets beneath her made for a really soft mattress, and she was nothing if not cozy.Â
but the girl was bordering on impatient. itâs not her fault! itâs just that theyâd been doing this for a while now, and the poor girl wanted more. mattâs a giver at heart, and she knew this could go on all night if she didnât say something.Â
âmattâŠ,â she whimpered desperately, hands finding purchase in his hair. a dull ache bloomed at the base of his skull as she tugged. âm-mattyââ
âmatty?â he laughed. âsomeoneâs desperate⊠poor thing.â his fingers never relented, and it wasnât long before her first orgasm finally took over.Â
âoh⊠oh, my god, matt!â y/nâs voice sounded through the small living room, her hips lifting off of the sheets and grinding into mattâs hand as she started coming down from her high.Â
ââs right, baby,â he pulled his fingers out, and a whine of discomfort tumbled from her lips. âthatâs it, youâre all right. i got you.âÂ
matt took the opportunity to take his girlfriend in. the sight of her beneath him, half aglow in the firelight, laying like an angel in their improvised bed surrounded by candles. he felt like the luckiest guy in the universe.Â
âbaby,â his hand came up to her face, stroking her cheek softly with his knuckles, âyouâre shaking.â
y/nâs brow furrowed just so, eyes opening to meet his. âoh⊠sorryâŠ.â
ââs nothing to be sorry about. are you cold? i can grab another log to throw in there, or maybe we have another blanketââ
âi have a better idea.â reaching between them, she palmed him through his calvin kleins.Â
matt, sucking in a breath through his front teeth, hung his head low as he gathered himselfâ if he came from one touch alone, heâd never live it down. y/n would make sure he never heard the end of it.Â
âyou sure you donât want some water first? maybe just a minute to relax a little? i can wait, promise.âÂ
the girl leaned up, pressing the tip of her nose to his. âmatt,â she whispered, âplease fuck me.â
matt smiled and wasted no time ridding himself of his boxers, almost losing his balance and toppling onto her in the process (she laughed at him and offered no help, naturally). he groaned as he sunk in, swallowing her moans with his mouth, fingers finding her clit once again. a shudder ran through her spine at the stimulation.Â
âyouâre perfect,â he breathed against her neck. wet kisses littered the area, a roadmap of his favorite freckles and blemishes. âwhat did i do to deserve you?â
y/n wanted to tell him he was born deserving of everything good, but her lips were stuck in a permanent âoâ shape. she was putty in his arms, his thrusts jostling her back and forth against the pillows.Â
âlove you⊠so much, baby,â those the last words she heard before her second high, matt following soon behind her. a few moments came and went before she nudged his shoulder, and matt took that as his cue to ease up.Â
âi love you, too,â y/n broke the silence. âbut i think mr. martĂnez probably wants us evicted now.â

Red Summer | Ghoap x F!Reader | Slasher!AU
After breaking up with your long term boyfriend you take a job working as a camp counselor in Northern Vermont. Seven weeks of swimming, volleyball, archery and hiking. There's even a hot lifeguard. It seems perfect until you find something evil is lurking in the woods

Chapter 1: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
5.5k words
It smelled like Summer. Ozonic and earthy, carried into your car by the breeze as you drove North through winding roads. Montpelier was two hours behind you now.Â
Despite the eighty degree heat, Vermont was lush and green. Only a couple more miles of shaded forest roads before you reached camp. At least you hoped so. Your maps app had been slow to load the last twenty miles.
The place was North, nestled between the border of Canada and the New Hampshire state line. It was gorgeous though. Anytime you thought about moving out of New England to somewhere cheaper the next season changed your mind. The trees just didnât look as pretty in fall or the snow as splendid in winter. You just wished it was cheaper.
Suppose thatâs why you took this job, as much as it didnât appeal to you. Camp counselor for seven long weeks, the pay was shit but your food and board came free. After a bad breakup you didnât have time to find a new lease so your life was packed up into a rented storage box with anything valuable shoved into the back of your car.Â
A friend of a friend recommended it. Sheâd been working here for years, attended for even more. She was an old money New Englander. Boarding school outside of Boston and all that. She was nice though. Got you the job over any qualified candidates. It wasnât nepotism but whatever it was called you wouldnât complain.
Your car dinged. Low gas. Shit.
Scrolling quickly through the map you saw a gas station up ahead. Youâd just make it⊠hopefully.Â
You let out a sigh of relief as you pulled into the station. It was older with dusty windows and sun-faded posters for cigarettes.Â
A piece of paper was taped to the pump.
âReader broken. Pay insideâ scribbled in sharpie.
You sighed and headed inside.Â
It was dusty inside too. A couple aisles of brightly packaged food and walls lined with fridges filled with beer and soda. The man behind the counter glanced up from his book when you walked in.
He was handsome. Black with dark, short cut curly hair and big brown eyes. Much too handsome to be working in the middle of nowhere. Heâd look more fitting in the corner of a bar, buying you a drink. He smiled up at you and your heart might have skipped a beat.Â
âPump three? How much?â He was English⊠strange.
âJustâŠuh⊠ten bucks.â You stumbled out.Â
âItâs the accent,â he chuckled. âIt throws everybody off the first time.âÂ
âItâs a strange place for an Englishman to be, I guess.â You swayed awkwardly.Â
âI go to Middlebury. Easier to get a summer job than fly home.â He shrugged.Â
âUnderstandable.â You werenât an expert on Vermont geography but you swore the college was on the other side of the state.Â
âTen on three.â He said, nodding his head towards the window.
âOh yeah. Thank you.âÂ
âYou still got to pay, love.â
âOh fuck, yeah. Sorry⊠uh⊠Kyle.â You read his name tag before digging through your tote bag, finding the last bit of your cash.
âNo worries. What brings a girl like you out here.â
âIâm working at the camp.â
âWeldon lake, right?â
âYeah. First time⊠Iâm going the right way, right?â
âIf you continue up the road. There will be a sign when you need to turn.â He handed you your receipt.Â
âThank you.âÂ
âHey!â You were half way out the door when he called. âStay alive out there. Heard the campers can be down right evil.â
âIâll try!â
The rest of the journey was smooth, there was a sign just like Kyle said. Another one after that taking you down a long gravel drive and into a dirt parking lot. A couple other cars were there already.Â
You made sure everything important was locked up in the trunk before grabbing your duffel bag and tote. You hoped you brought enough sunscreen.Â
The sun was warm on your back as you made your way up to the main building. Two other girls were hanging around on the porch. They each wore matching white baseball shirts with red sleeves and trim, each labeled with STAFF on the back.Â
âHey, youâre Sophiaâs friend, right? Iâm Janie.â She jumped down from the porch fence. âI love your braids by the way.â
Youâd done your hair before leaving, figuring itâd be easier to keep clean braided than fight for limited shower time.Â
âIâm Natalie,â The other girl greeted. You introduced yourself, thanking Janie for the compliment.â
âI think your cabin is next to mine. I can take you over once you check in.â Janie said.
Check in was easy enough. Sign a couple more papers, show off your ID to prove you were you and get your cabin assignment, key and two staff shirts. Tomorrow was orientation before the campers arrived Monday morning. Tonight was for getting to know everyone.Â
âSo, whereâs this cabin?â you asked, walking outside.
The girls grinned and led you down the path. Everything seemed to branch off from here. They pointed out where the dining hall was just past the main office next to the nurseâs station.
âDonât expect much. Theyâre still recovering from when Covid almost killed this place.â
âDamn.â
âYeah. They had to raise fees and a bunch of parents freaked out. Guess an extra hundred dollars really threw all the millionaires off.â Natalie laughed.Â
Next was the pool, fully fenced in and surrounded by two tennis courts and two basketball courts on either side.Â
âHey lasses!â A man called from the pool, leaning over the chain link fence. Natalie rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest. âWhoâs the new girl?â
He had a thick Scottish accent. Lots of transplants for the area, you guessed. He was also handsome. Muscular with a dark mohawk and light eyes. He was shirtless with very short and tight red shorts on and a silver whistle around his neck. He was dripping water over the ground.
âYou say that like you arenât also the new guy, Johnny!â Natalie called, clearly annoyed already.Â
âNat hates him.â Janie giggled.Â
âItâs been three hours and heâs already tried to fuck half the counselors. Heâs a dog.â
âOne Iâd put on a leash.â Janie laughed.
Johnny walked over, still dripping wet. His crocs squeaked with every step.Â
âJohnny,â he grinned, holding out his hand to you. You introduced yourself as he shook your hand excitedly. He had a tattoo on his side, up by his ribs. You couldnât see all of it but it looked like a heart with someoneâs initials in it. S and something else, you couldnât tell for sure. âBeautiful name for a beautiful gal.â
Your cheeks felt hot as his blue eyes traveled over your body.Â
âItâs going to be a fun seven weeks with all you bonnie lasses around.â He grinned. Nat looped her arm around yours.
âDown dog. We still have half the camp to show off.â
âYou know where to find me. Pool looked like the lake when I got here.â He raised his hands up as he walked backwards towards the pool again.
âCome on, before we lose Janie.â
âHeâs hot!â She defended.Â
âYou just like him because he got your name right on the first try.â
âHeâs intelligent too!â
The cabins were next. Ten white painted buildings split in half with about eight beds on each side and a shared bathroom in the back. They formed a circle around a fire pit with log benches.Â
You had cabin room 14. Janie was the building next door in 15 and Nat with 16 sharing with her. They took turns explaining everything.
âYour bed is the only non bunk and the chest underneath locks so anything you donât want the campers to find should go there.â
âBasically all your shit. I had a copy of Crime and Punishment stolen last year. Fucking Crime and Punishment like any of these kids could read Dostoevsky.â
âShowers are in the back. Hot water is sparse so if you want some, move quick and early.â
âBreakfast is at 8. Coffee tastes like shit unless you pour half a pound of sugar in it.âÂ
âYou can vape just outside but if you smoke you gotta ask your neighbor counselor to watch your kids. At least thirty feet away or theyâll snitch too.â
âWeed is only for days off because they'll either snitch or demand you share. That goes for kids and counselors.âÂ
âDays off are randomly assigned but you should get one every other week.â
âI donât recommend sleeping with other counselors but if you must, go to your car.â Natalie said.Â
âWeâll leave you to get settled. Dinner is in an hour. You can meet everyone else then.â
âThank you guys for everything.â You felt overwhelmed just a bit.Â
They left, still arguing about Johnny. He was cute but the break up wounds were still fresh. You didnât want to sneak around either. You werenât a teenager anymore.
You haphazardly dumped the contents of your duffle into the lock chest before shoving it back under the bed. You had seven weeks to organize it.Â
The bed was okay. A plastic covered mattress with an old sleeping bag. You should have brought your own pillow. Maybe a Target run on your next day off whenever that was.Â
The ache in your muscles from driving all day hit hard the moment you sat down.Â
There was a knock on the door.Â
âHey sleepyhead!â Sophia came in. You rubbed your face as you woke up. Out the window you could see the sky looked darker, a blue summer evening. âIâm glad you ended up coming.â
âYeah. Thanks for getting me the job.â You stretched, your shoulders cracking. âItâs nice to get away.âÂ
âIâm sorry about you and Ale.â There it was. She was nice but always craved gossip.Â
âItâs okay. Just wanted different things.â
You shrugged. It wasnât a bad breakup, no arguing, just a slow and painful demise. Heâd even offered to let you stay with him when the lease ended and he found out you didnât have a place to go. You chose this instead.Â
âWell, letâs get you something to eat. The food is incredibly mediocre but I heard a rumor that the lifeguard has beer and weed for the fire pit.â
She was not wrong about dinner. Hot dogs with a slice of Kraft cheese melted on top with a bag of chips as a side.Â
You sat with Nat, Sophia and Janie.Â
âThere are my lovely ladies!â Johnny sat down, forcing his way between Cel and Sophia. Nat looked like she wanted to kill him. âComing out to the lake tonight? Hope you all brought swim suits or birthday suits.â
âJesus Christ.â Nat groaned.Â
âI think weâre gonna have an easy night. Some of us had long drives.â Sophia motioned to herself and you. âJust some girl time.â
Johnny pouted.Â
âFair enough but I do expect all of you at the bonfire tomorrow.â He pointed at all of them, even Nat. âEspecially you new girl.â
He got up and jogged off to another table of girls.Â
âAm I allowed to call him a slut?â
âWhat happened to dog?â Janie asked, raising an eyebrow.Â
âDogs can be trained.âÂ
You all laughed. Youâd been worried that you wouldnât fit in. All the other girls knew each other for years at this point. Janie and Sophia had been coming here since they were kids. Nat met Janie in high school and got a job as a junior counselor with her the first chance they got.Â
It wasnât a super attractive job and the pay was shit but it looked good on resumes and college applications apparently. Showed responsibility. Most of your experiences with camp were from horror films.Â
The sun was still out as the four of you walked back. Sophia was your cabin neighbor, taking care of room 13. Itâs where you all gathered.Â
Sophia and you sat on her bed while she did your nails.Â
âRed looks nice on you.â It was a bright cherry red. Sheâd picked it out, saying they should all match.Â
The evening was spent talking and laughing. You asking questions about camp life and getting advice from the other girls.Â
You had friends back home but you were glad you fit in so fast. Any anxiety and fear for the Summer slipped away as the sun set.Â
âIâm beat.â Nat yawned. It was almost midnight now. Janie agreed and the two wandered off back to their cabin.Â
âIâll head back too. Thank you for being so welcoming, Soph.â
âAbsolutely! Itâs nice to get fresh meat every once and a while. It can be tough with the kids so some people get jaded. I hope you have fun this Summer and if you donât you can blame me.â She laughed.Â
The air was cool on the little porch out front. Most of the other cabins had their lights off by now and the center was lit up with fireflies, neon yellow dots.Â
There was an orange dot out towards the back of one of the cabins across the way. A cigarette. The man smoking it seemed larger than any counselor youâd seen but it was dark and he was half hidden behind the building. It was Johnnyâs cabin, you think. He was big.Â
He waved and you waved back. He dropped the cigarette and stamped it out. The little corner fell dark and you went into your side.
You didnât realize how quiet the world could be as you curled up in your sleeping bag. No hum of electronics or cars. No people yelling above or below you. Just the stillness of the stars.
It was an early morning. Johnny was running around the circle of cabins playing music to wake everyone up. He was shirtless again and his shorts seemed shorter than the day before. You wouldnât complain.Â
âSo why did you choose this wonderful vista as a summer job?â Johnny asked, jogging up next to you as you made your way to the dining hall.Â
âNeeded a break. Get out in nature for a bit. I grew up in the suburbs and just broke up with my boyfriend so I guess I wanted to breathe for a bit. You?â
âRunning from my previous life of crime.â He smiled. âNah, just also trying to get away. Was military back home, knee injury did me in. Didnât know what else to do. Hiked part of the Appliachian trail. You know, it's the same mountain range as the Highlands. Felt like I had to see them. Havenât really felt like going back home yet.â
âYou hiked alone?â You raised an eyebrow. You knew that it was one of the longest and hardest trails in the country.Â
âHad a mate with me but Iâm on my lonesome now.â He opened the door for you. Sure, he was boisterous but he seemed harmless one on one. Maybe a little dogish but he wasnât going to hump your leg unprompted.Â
âShirts are needed in the dining hall, Mactavish!â Sophia called. He held up his hands in surrender before fishing out a cropped muscle tee that had been shoved into his pocket. It was a nice change of pace to be around a man that wanted to show off his own skin rather than try to get girls to show theirs.Â
You told yourself before you got here that you wouldnât look for that kind of distraction. It wasnât worth it, especially not this early. You could look though. No harm in that.Â
Bacon, Eggs and self-serve cereal was todayâs breakfast. You joined back up with the girls from last night. Orientation was supposed to take up most of the day so they encouraged you to grab a couple pieces of fruit and a protein bar.
âOnly fill up your water bottle in here. There are fountains elsewhere but I think they taste weird.â Said Janie.Â
You were put in a group with Johnny, Sophia, and another guy named Warren. He and Sophia were long term counselors so they gladly took on the role of being you and Johnnyâs tour guide. Johnny had been hired because of his lifeguard training so he already knew the layout of the lake and pool. You were scolded for not having proper shoes for hiking.
âWhatâs your size? I might have an old pair in my car.â Sophia offered. âIf not I think thereâs an L.L.Bean like two hours away. We can go on our next day off.â
You werenât sure if you could afford brand new boots so silently hoped that Sophia did have that old pair and they fit.Â
âDonât want ya getting blisters all summer.â Johnny said. He was doing the hike in crocs but apparently did have boots back at his cabin.Â
You didnât do the full trail but Warren pointed out the different routes and how difficult each one was and which ones kids could do by themselves and which ones they couldnât. The fields were next. A soccer field and baseball field were across the way from the cabins. It was a loose definition of each. One was a huge patch of grass and the other a diamond of dirt. Both looked a little off size wise. There was the sports supply shed that had all the equipment in it. Only a couple counselors had keys to it.
âPeople kept using it inappropriately.â Sophia smiled.
There was the art building, the rec hall, a path leading towards the archery field and riflery field.
âRiflery?â
âYeah. We used to teach kids how to shoot. Mostly clay pigeons but it was one of the programs cut after Covid,â Warren explained.Â
âShame I missed it. Could have taught the kids trick shots.â Johnny joked, pretending to aim a rifle backwards over his shoulder.Â
The horse stable was also closed. Too expensive to have horses here for even half the season.Â
The Lake was the last part of the tour. It was on the other side of the road so to get there was an underpass to get there. It was large enough for five adults to walk side by side comfortably but the yellow light from the lamps gave it a sickly vibe.Â
It ended a little ways before the beach. There were several rows of Kayaks and another shed filled with life preservers and paddles.Â
âWow Johnny! You cleaned it up well.â Warren clapped him on the back. For a moment Johnny looked irritated that heâd been touched but he shoved that emotion out of the way to make room for his usual excited self.Â
âYeah. Cleaned up the best I could.â
âIt looks great, Johnny.â You were impressed. Heâd even sprayed the kayaks down, bright clean plastic in a rainbow of colors.
âYer making me blush.â He laid a hand over his heart.Â
The lake was gorgeous. Cream colored sand feeding into sapphire waters. You could just see the beach on the other side, a small empty dock with a path leading into the woods. The camp side had a floating platform about thirty feet into the water.Â
âCampers have to swim there and back to pass the swimming competency test.â Sophia explained. âIf you canât swim on your own youâre stuck in the buoyed area.âÂ
There was a ten by ten foot area cordoned off by buoys, keeping to the shallow end of the lake. Made enough sense. No one wanted to fish a dead kid out of the water.
âLetâs head back. We donât want to miss lunch.â Warren clapped his hands together.Â
The four of you made the trek back to the dining hall. You did feel like blisters were starting to form on the back of your ankles. Youâd have to put band-aids on them later.Â
The rest of the afternoon was spent going over itinerary for the following week. Campers would arrive tomorrow between ten and six. It was a day mostly planned out for settling them in with an inaugural bonfire that night. After that it was seven weeks of regular old American camp adventures.Â
You went back to your cabin the moment you had free time. Your ankles hadnât started to bleed but they were bright red and throbbing. You applied the bandaids and grabbed another pair of socks to wear the rest of the way.Â
There was about an hour and half before dinner and final orientation from the camp managers, who, you had been told, often made themselves scarce throughout the summer to avoid having to do their jobs. You settled on top of your sleeping bag. A nice breeze came in through the screen door. Janie had told you that it was the best way to keep the building cool. Â
You thought about Ale. His smile and deep laugh. How heâd wake you up in the morning with kisses to the back of your neck. How he loved your hair and ass. How heâd whisper in Spanish to you. You still had the English/Spanish dictionary he gave you shoved in a box back in the city. You missed him. Your cowboy. He would have been so disappointed to hear the stables were closed. Maybe youâd call him after all this. Ask to work something out.Â
You drifted off daydreaming about the scent of his cologne.
âBonnie! Youâre gonna miss dinner!â Johnny was knocking on the screen door. Maybe Nat was right in being annoyed by him all the time.Â
âIâll just miss it.â you sighed, rolling over on the bed.Â
âYou never know which meal is your last. Best not to skip any! Câmon or Iâll drag ya myself.â
You would have thrown a pillow if you had one. How did he always have so much energy?
He jogged literal circles around you on the way to the dining hall.
âHow are your feet?â he asked.
âHuh?â
âYou were limping on the way back to the cabins earlier.â
âOhâŠyeah just blisters.â
He tutted at you.Â
âGot to get you some good shoes soon.â
Dinner was the same hot dogs as the previous night with a bonus of a bowl of lettuce, cherry tomatoes and a slice of cucumber.Â
There was an excited energy in the room. Most people whoâd snuck in alcohol or drugs said tonight was the best night to use it all. An unspoken competition of who could drink the most and still function when the first campers started to arrive. It could be fun, you mused. You were never a big partier in college and what was this if not a perfect chance to make up for that.Â
The boys built up a nice fire, each poking and prodding their own side with their favorite stick. You sat on one of the log benches next to Sophia and Janie. Johnny was across the fire, his arm around the waste of another girl counselor. Ceilidh you think it was. Pronounced like Kay-lee, sheâd said. Pretty name, Gaelic. Made sense for him to go after a piece of home.
âGlad heâs finally left us alone.â Nat chuckled.Â
âI think theyâre cute.â Sophia said. You pushed down the twinge of jealousy you felt seeing her giggle at his joke.Â
Warren came around with a cooler filled with a hodgepodge of beer. He was his fraternityâs president and one of his responsibilities was to get rid of any extra at the end of the term to avoid trouble. Dry campus issues.Â
You grabbed a Modelo. Aleâs old go to and one youâd gotten used to drinking. It left a familiar warm feeling in your stomach.
You drank, you danced, you ate sâmores, you laughed with your new friends. The stars seemed so bright and clear out here. Janie had you all lay out on your backs in the grass nearby as she pointed out each constellation.
âThatâs the big dipper and above it is the little dipper but Draco is the constellation between them. If you guys tell me your star signs I can point it out for you.â
There was laughter nearby and you glanced up to see Johnny and Ceilidh sneaking in the dark towards her cabin.Â
You had another beer. And another. Maybe one more after that.Â
Someone offered you a hit off a joint so you did that too.Â
The four of you were laughing and stumbling back to Sophiaâs cabin. You had no idea how late it was. The fire was dying out. Warren said he would make sure everyone got back inside all right. The designated driver of drunken counselors. He was a good guy.Â
You found yourself laying on your side on one of the empty beds. Sophia and Janie were on her bed, half asleep against each other. Nat and you were talking about your childhoods.Â
âI broke a bone three years in a row, each time in May. I missed field day every time. My mom once pulled me around in a wagon so I wouldnât feel left out,â She laughed.Â
âHow did you break so many bones?â
âCatholic school where the playground was just a parking lot. I was a wild kid. I broke my arm tripping and falling against the priestâs car. I dented it too. I thought I was going to hell.â
There was a shrill noise. Loud and stomach dropping. A scream cut off. You and the other girls all jumped to attention. It was silent except for the crackling of the fire outside.Â
âFisher cat.â Janie said, trying to convince herself.
âOr a fox.â Sophia added.Â
âDid you guys hear that?â Warren said, coming in.Â
The four of you nodded.
âIt sounded close. Iâm gonna check it out.â
âBy yourself?â
âOne of the other guys is gonna come with me. Itâs probably just an animal. If you see Johnny tell him to go check on everyone. I want a headcount before we all go to sleep.â
You all watched from the window as Warren met another guy holding a flashlight and a baseball bat. Sophia turned on the porch light. They disappeared between the cabinâs across the way.Â
âJohnny and Celilidh went off together. Should we try to find them?â Sophia offered.Â
âMaybe we should just stay here. Safety in numbers.â Janie answered.Â
âSafety from what? It was just an animal.â Nat insisted.Â
âDidnât sound like an animal.â You thought. No one else would say it but you were all thinking it. A slide show of clips from horror films played through your mind.Â
Four sets of eyes darted around, looking out windows and the front door, waiting for some masked killer to seep through the walls.
Bang!
You all screamed as Johnny flew through the door, clutching his stomach.Â
âWe have to go now!â He grunted. Blood was pouring between his fingers.
âOh my god. What happened? Whereâs Ceilidh?â
âDead⊠fuck.. Sheâs fucking dead. Fucker came in through the window in the bathroom. I tried to fight him off. Iâm sorry.â He gulped. âWe have to go now!â
âYouâre bleeding. Please let me look.â Janie reached out and he pushed her hand away.Â
âDonât have time. We have to go. Get my car keys. I can fit us all.â
âWhat about everyone else?â You asked. There was so much blood, it was dripping on the floor now.Â
âI donât know⊠when..whenâs the last time you saw anyone?â
There was another scream from outside. Silence took you over again.
âPlease⊠we can get out and get help but we have to go now.â Johnny pleaded. His bright blue eyes were watery and his tan skin was stained red down his legs.Â
âIâm going.â Sophia said, grabbing her backpack. âFuck this. Iâm not fucking dying like itâs a movie. Weâre all going. Johnny, do you need help?â
âNo, I can manage. I need to get my keys though.â
âI have mine. We can just take my car. Itâs an SUV.â Sophia urged, crouching down to look out of the door.
âNoâŠnoâŠIâŠI uhâŠI have a gun in my car.â
âYou brought a fucking gun to camp?â Natâs jaw dropped.Â
âOld shotgun. It works. Iâm trained for this. Get to the car and I⊠I can kill him.â
âYouâre bleeding out, Johnny.â Janie cried, reaching for him again and once again being pushed away.Â
âCome with me.â Johnny looked at you.
âIâŠIâŠI donât know.â You were shaking. It didnât seem real. Too cliche. A real life spree killer running around the woods of a Summer camp. Sophia was right, you didnât want to die like it was some movie.Â
âHe knows Iâm weak. Heâll go after me first. Weâll get my keys and if he shows up⊠you take them and run.â
âYou..canât sacrifice yourself.â Your voice warbled.
âIt was my job to do that. If I canât die saving my country, Iâd like to die saving a group of pretty girls.â
Johnny was pleading. He seemed to know he couldnât do it on his own. You thought about Ale saying you needed to stand up for yourself more. You never did. You didnât stand up to bullies in high school, rogue professors in college or shitty demeaning bosses. You didnât even stand up for yourself when Ale said he wanted a break.Â
Nat was saying how you should all just run to Sophiaâs car. She had her keys. Sophia was agreeing. Janie was crying silently.Â
âIâll go.â You forced the words out like vomit. It was that or actual vomit.
âOkay.â He almost smiled. âSophia, turn off the lights. Weâll give you a signal when it's safe to come out. Then we all run to the parking lot.â
âWhatâs the signal?â Janie sobbed.
âIâll whistle.â
You were shaking so much you worried youâd fall right down the front steps of the cabin. Johnny was in front of you, shoulders hunched up, his eyes darting everywhere. Sophia turned off the lights, leaving the two of you in near darkness. The fire was nothing more than orange smoldering logs.Â
âYou seem like youâve done this before.â You said quietly, finding yourself holding the bottom hem of his shirt.Â
âLike I said. It was my job.â
You walked on your tiptoes, trying not to make any noise. Your heart cried for the others. Even if you didnât know them. You didnât hear or see anyone. Maybe they all got out? They escaped alreadyâŠor the killer was chasing them deeper into the woods.
You didnât want to die. In the movies it always seemed so prolonged. The stabbings and bleeding out. Johnny had been hurt and he was still going on, trying to save you and everyone else.Â
âStay here. Iâll go check to make sure it's clear.â He said. Youâd made it to his cabin, whole body still shaking just on his porch now. Your heart leapt into your throat as the door creaked open.Â
âBe careful, please.â
He winked at you before heading in. You picked at the skin around your nails, a nasty old habit that you tried so hard to kick. You could forgive yourself for this relapse. It seemed an appropriate time to scratch out anxiety.
The step behind you creaked. Any light from the fire was blocked out. A arm wrapped around your neck and pulled you flush with a wall of muscle. You screamed for Johnny as a knife cut into your stomach.
It hurt worse than you thought it would. He was stabbing you over and over. All those movies and none prepared you for the sound that came from being stabbed yourself. The rush of blood in your head. You kicked and scratched the best you could, catching the gap of skin between his gloves and sleeves. Flesh caught under your nails and tore. The knife cut sideways across your stomach. Something wet and heavy hit the floor by your feet.
âFucking cunt.â The man growled. You could have thrown up if it didnât feel like your stomach had been torn open.Â
You hit the porch face first, no strength left to even try to hold yourself up. Blood pooled in your mouth. He stepped around you and in the corner of your eye you could make him out.Â
Large, well over six feet and bulky with large shoulders. A half skull mask covered the top part of his face. His head was buzzed. He had a hunting knife in his hand and it dripped your blood onto the wood and onto your face.Â
âJohnny!â Your killer called. Youâd doomed him too. He could have gotten away. Johnny would die and it would be your fault. They all would now and it was your fault.Â
You closed your eyes as the throbbing subsided. You didnât want to listen. He was so nice. He didnât deserve it.
You didnât deserve this.Â
You closed your eyes and let yourself slip away.Â
You heard music. Loud obnoxious music and singing from an off key baritone scot.
You opened your eyes and you were in your sleeping bag in your cabin. It was Sunday morning again.Â

The Great Molasses Flood was a disaster in Boston that occurred after a storage tank collapsed on January 15, 1919, sending more than two million gallons (eight million litres) of molasses flowing through the cityâs North End. The deluge caused extensive damage and killed 21 people.
The tank was built in 1915 along Bostonâs waterfront on Commercial Street, opposite Coppâs Hill. It was operated by the Purity Distilling Company, a subsidiary of United States Industrial Alcohol (USIA). At the time, industrial alcoholâthen made from fermented molassesâwas highly profitable; it was used to make munitions and other weaponry for World War I (1914â18). The tankâs immense size reflected the demand: it measured more than 50 feet (15 metres) high and 90 feet (27 metres) in diameter and could hold up to 2.5 million gallons (9.5 million litres) of molasses. Built quickly, the tank was problematic from the start, leaking and often emitting rumbling noises. Nevertheless, it continued to be used, and after the warâs conclusion USIA focused on producing grain alcohol, which was in high demand as prohibition neared passage.
At approximately 12:30 PM on January 15, 1919, the tank burst, releasing a deluge of âsweet, sticky death.â According to reports, the resulting wave of molasses was 15 to 40 feet (5 to 12 metres) high and some 160 feet (49 metres) wide. Traveling at approximately 35 miles (56 km) per hour, it destroyed several city blocks, leveling buildings and damaging automobiles. Although help arrived quickly, the hardening molasses made rescue efforts difficult. In the end, 21 people were killed, many of whom were suffocated by the syrup, and approximately 150 were injured. In addition, the Boston Post noted that a number of horses had âdied like so many flies on sticky fly paper.â Clean-up efforts lasted for weeks, and Boston reportedly continued to smell like molasses for years afterward.
Numerous lawsuits were filed in the wake of the disaster. While victims alleged that the tank was not safe, USIA claimed that it had been sabotaged by âevilly disposed persons.â In 1925, however, it was ruled that the tank was unsound, and USIA was ordered to pay damages. In addition, the disaster resulted in stricter construction codes being adopted by states across the country.
For years, questions were raised over how such a seemingly benign substance could have caused so many deaths. In 2016, researchers released a study that placed the blame on cold temperatures. While warm weather would have caused the molasses to be less viscous, the winter temperatures made the syrup markedly thicker, severely impeding rescuers.

roommates (Matthew sturniolo)
a/n - first story in a while!!
I grew up in Boston, Massachusetts, and I've dreamed about college ever since I could remember. Going to Umass was my goal because my grades weren't excellent, but they weren't bad. I had gotten accepted halfway through my senior year, along with about four other people from my high school. Chris Sturniolo was the first one to get accepted, second was me, third was some girl from my statistics class, and lastly was Matthew Sturniolo. I didn't mind Chris or Nick much. I was never best friends with any of them, but those two were fabulous. Matthew, on the other hand, was a total dickface.
Matthew Sturniolo, captain of the hockey team, disliked me because I got their practices on the ice cut down to two days of the week so my ice skating league could have the ice the other two days of the week, and the boys had it a third day for the games. It wasn't my fault, but my team needed to practice for our meetings on the weekend. Ever since that day in our sophomore year, he has had something against me, giving me nasty looks and saying rude remarks; he even got me thrown out of a class and detention because the teacher wanted to suck him off once he had something against me.
Today was finally the move-in day for college, and my dad was driving down in his car to meet me at our dorms. After the two-hour drive, we finally arrived, and I hopped out of my car to grab my dorm keys. I was supposed to have a single this year, but they accepted too many students, and now I am placed with some random dude. I dont mind, though, because housing said it should all be sorted out within a week.
I walked up to my dorm, saw the door unlocked, and gave it a light knock before opening it.
"What the hell are you doing here?" I said, seeing who was sitting on the bed opposite to mine
"No way. No. This has to be some sick joke." Matthew Sturniolo said as he stood off the bed
"This is my dorm. Get out." I said, waving the key in his face
"Your dorm? Check again, princess. My name's already on the door." He pushed past me, pointing to his name tag outside the door
I march to the door and check the name tags. "No, no, no. This has to be a mistake. There's no way they'd stick us in the same room." I threw my bag down on the bed, holding my head. "I'll fix this." I pull out my phone to call housing
"Oh, please do. I'd love to see how fast they laugh at you. Housing is already maxed out." Matt said, leaning against his bed
'What are you talking about?" I looked back at him
"Everyone's been complaining about the overcrowding. I heard someone's living in a storage closet in South Hall. You're stuck with me." He smirked at me
"This can't be happening," I said before storming out of the dorm to find my father with my other stuff. I knew I could do nothing about this, considering I already knew housing was dead and gone to me. My father and I carried my things up to the second floor. My dad liked the sturniolos because he and his father worked together when they were younger.
"Matthew!" My dad said, opening up the door. I rolled my eyes in annoyance. "You gonna take care of my daughter this year!" He said as Matt got up to shake my father's hand
"Of course, Mr. y/l/n." They shook hands, and my dad turned back toward me.
"Do you want me to stay and help, or do you want to do this alone?" he asked, knowing I would much rather do things alone. Ever since my mom left, I've learned to be independent.
"I want to set it up; thank you so much, Dad," I said, wrapping my arms around his neck. He hugged me back before kissing my forehead and turning towards Matt.
"I mean, it is safe, both of you," He pointed between us.
"I love you, Dad!" I yelled while he walked out
"Love you, honey." My dad closed the door behind him, and I turned toward all of my boxes, sighing
"Do youâ" Matt started to talk before the door knocked; he turned and walked to open the door.
"Matt, you left your charger in myâ" Chris walked in and stopped when he saw me. "Wait a second. What's she doing here?"
"I have the same question," I said, rolling my eyes as I opened one of my boxes.
"Chris. She's my roommate." Matt said in an annoyed voice
"No way. No freaking way." Chris said, bursting into laughter. I rolled my eyes again.
"This is perfect. You and Matt? Sharing a dorm? This is better than any sitcom." He continued laughing to himself
"Told you it's gold," Matt said, turning towards me.
"This isn't funny!" I said, looking up at them
"Oh, it's hilarious. You two can't even stand to be in the same room for five minutes, and now you're stuck here for a whole semester?"
"I'm calling housing," I say, grabbing my phone off the bed.
"Oh, sure. "Hi, housing? Can you please move me because I hate my roommate's face?" Yeah, good luck with that." Chris said
"Admit it. You're a little jealous you don't get to live here." Matt winked at Chris
"Hmm. Sharing a room with y/n and listening to you two argue 24/7? She's hot, but No, I'll stick with my roommate. He's chill." I rolled my eyes at him as he placed Matt's charger heading towards the door. "Well, this will be a fun semesterâfor me, anyway. I'm going to stop by every day to watch the chaos."
"Open invitation, bro," Matt said. I huffed and started unpacking my boxes, regretting not asking my dad to stay and help. "Do you want some help? I may not like you, but you'll need it." I contemplated for a minute before deciding it would be easier to accept.
"If you could please." He nodded, grabbed one of the boxes, and got to work.
After three hours, we finished decorating and unpacking all of my items. "Thank you for helping; I need to go shower," I said, grabbing a towel and heading towards our bathroom.
"Ya, there's a party tonight in the hockey house. You can go with Chris he said" Matt said, keeping his gaze on his phone.
"Send me Chris' number, and I'll talk to him." I said, walking towards the bathroom, "What's your number? We are living together anyways." I gave him my number and walked into the bathroom. I started the shower, turned on the Christmas lights, and provided the bathroom with more obedience. I took a half-hour shower and changed into some sweats and a tank top, walked out of the bathroom, and grabbed my phone to see a text from Matt and my best friend, Morgan. I quickly texted Chris, saying it was me, and texted Morgan back, telling her about the roommate situation.
"Wow, you've been standing in the same spot for seven minutes; you're zoned out on your phone," Matt said, interrupting my text conversation with Morgan.
"Sorry, I'm texting Morgan. Did you need something?" I asked, putting my phone on my desk, which I turned into a vanity.
"Morgans pretty hot. Is she ever going to come to visit?" He said, putting his arms behind his head
"If you ever even tried, I'd kill you," I said in a deadly serious tone; he threw his arms up in defense.
"I was just telling you I'm going to the hockey house, dont wait up," He said as he walked out the door.
I sat down in my vanity chair, contemplating the situation I was in when I heard my phone start buzzing.
"Hello?" I said, picking up Chris' phone call
"What are you doing?" He said
"I am going to start getting ready?" I told more of a question
"Great, I'll be there in a minute." He hung up the phone before I could object. After a literal minute, I heard a knock on my door. "Come in!" I yelled. Chris walked in, wearing a black Harley-Davidson shirt, baggy jeans, and a black beanie. "Hey," I said, returning to my mirror and brushing my hair.
"Are you going to the party with me tonight?" he asked as he lay on my bed; I nodded yes. I couldn't lie. He looked hot. "Great, we are leaving in an hour." I checked my clock, seeing it was already nine. I hadn't eaten all day, so if I even attempted to drink at this party, I would be hammered.
"That sounds good. Can you play some music?" I asked because I needed to charge my phone. I got up from my vanity as 'She' by Frank Ocean and Tyler, the creator, started playing; I was happy with Chris' choice of music. I walked to my dresser, grabbed my favorite pair of low-rise baggy jeans, and then went to my closet, pulling out a black-laced crop top. "I'm going to change," I told Chris, walking towards the bathroom.
Once I was finally changed, I left the bathroom, and Chris looked up from his phone. "I'll have to watch you around all those hockey players." I laughed at his remark and sat down at my vanity, doing my mascara. I never really learned how to do makeup properly, and after my mom left and was raised by my dad, I never got into it.
After 40 minutes of fixing myself, I was finally ready. "Alright, let go," I said, slipping on my Converse. Chris exited the bed, slipped on his shoes, and walked towards the door with me. "Do you want a coat? We are walking there; it's a ten-minute walk down the road, " he asked, looking me up and down.
"No, it's still seventy, but it'll be good." I grabbed my keys and walked out the door, holding it for Chris; I locked the door behind us and slipped my can of Zyns in my front pocket and my phone in my back pocket." Zyns, really?" he asked, looking down at me.
"Hey, I'm quitting vaping. They help when the nicotine craving gets bad." He shrugged, understanding where I was coming from
"So I know nothing about you; tell me something about yourself," Chris asked as we walked out of our building
"There's not much really; I grew up with just my dad, playing sports and lived like I didn't have some big interesting life. how about you?" He shrugged
"Same thing, I grew up with both my parents, though." I laughed at his remark, and we walked the rest of the way in a comfortable silence
"Are you drinking tonight?" He asked, stopping me on the porch of the house
"I think so, why?" I was confused about why he was asking
"I'm just going to smoke then; better to be safe than sorry," I admired him, wanting to keep me safe. He opened the door, and I was immediately hit with the smell of weed and liquor. I huffed it in and started going through the house while Chris held onto my belt loop; I entered the kitchen, and Matt was talking to some blonde girl.
"Hey, Matty!" I said, putting my hands on his shoulders. He turned around to see Chris and me. He returned to the girl and told her he'd see her later. She seemed a little butt-hurt about it and stomped away.
"You actually look presentable," Matt said in a sarcastic tone, which caused me to take in his appearance. He was wearing a plain black tee showing off his sleeve of tattoos I'd never noticed before and a pair of jeans. He also looked pretty good.
"Not too bad yourself, Matthew," I crossed my arms. "Where are the drinks?" I asked, looking around
"Come on," he said, walking towards the fridge. "Twisted, ice, or a mixed drink?" he asked, looking back at me; I contemplated for a minute before seeing a bunch of people taking shots
"An ice, please. It's the best chaser," I said, grabbing it from his hand and walking towards the people taking shots. Matt and Chris followed behind.
"Everyone, this is my roommate, y/n." A group of guys who I guess are on the hockey team with Matt turned towards me and said some heys and hi's
"Can I get one, please?" I said, and one of them handed me a green kinky. "I, Steven," he said. "I y/n. Nice to meet you." I opened the nip and cheered it with his before taking it back and following it with my Smirnoff.
After an hour of taking shots and mingling with Matt and Chris' friends from the team, Matt and Chris decided it was time to smoke. I was already drunk, so I was ready to take a break. "This way," Matt said, leading Chris and me down the stairs. I guess this was more for me because Chris had been there before. I grabbed my Zyns and put one in to get a good headrush as we made our way to a toke circle. I sat next to Chris with Matt on his other side; he's been friendly with me tonight, so hopefully, it stays like that.
We sat in the basement talking nonsense for I dont even know how long, considering I was highly drunk as the time went on. "Can we go get food, please!" I said to the two boys, Matt looked down at his phone, and I saw it was already one am. "Yeah, let's go," Matt said, standing with Chris. I felt a little dizzy, so I grabbed Chris's belt loop as he did to me earlier, following them out of the house.
"Mcdonalds is the only thing open, so that's what you're getting," Matt said as we headed towards his car
"Fine by me, sir! " I said, climbing into the backseat. I decided it was easier to lie down, which caused me to fall asleep.

whereâs the functionÂż

in which..tattooapprentice!reader drags tattooartist!matt to a party..
đ¶ chicken tenders by dominic fike.
matt throws his head back in frustration as his pen meets the table, âanother fuckinâ cancellationâ he muttered to himself, lifting up his hat to run his fingers through his hair, setting it backwards back on his head.
you smirk as you lean against the counter top, âsoo..you know what that means..â you pride, matt glances at you, âsweet girl, you act like this is a good thing,â he sighs leaning over the counter, his elbows resting on the cool marble, âit is a good thing,â you try to convince, matt is unimpressed, you drum your fingers on the marble and smirk, âmeans more time for fun,â
matt lets out a huff, âyeah but it also means less money for-â matt pokes your shoulder, âyou and..â he twirls his finger before pointing at himself, âme.â
you tilt your head and try to find his gaze, âcâmon, matt! let go partyyyy!!â you drag, matt puts his tongue in his cheek as he fights his inner demons, he wants to say no, say heâs got things to do, but he doesnât. you know that. âfine.â matt caves, taking a toothpick from the holder and sticking it in his mouth, his tongue moving it to the side, âonly if you help me clean this place up, swear i can still smell the barf from my last client,â he rolls his eyes and shudders at the mental image from the event in question, âhow do i always get stuck with the pukers?!â he questioned to himself but loud enough so you can hear as you guys walk to the storage closet.
eventually the shop was clean, matt flipped off the open sign and shut off the lights, twisting the key to lock up the door, you stand waiting for him to finish, he turns to you while shoving his keys in his pockets, âlemme walk you to your car,â he insists.
you nod and walk to your vehicle, your keys jingling in your hands as you do.
âso we are really going to a party tonight?â matt questions as he opens the door for you, you slide in and look up at him, âyep,â you hum amusedâ a big grin plastered on your face, âand if i wanna go home?â matt questioned, âthen iâll take you home,â you shot back, âand if we are too drunk to drive me back home?â he asks raising an eyebrowâ at this point heâs trying to find an excuse not to go. âthen we get an uber,â you smirk, you arenât gonna lose this battle, âan uber? you buyinâ?â he smirked back. âiâm buyinââ
you and matt were now at the party, fortunatelyâyou guys got some drinks in you to loosen up. and loosen up you did.
you two were in the middle of the crowd of people, red solo cups in your hands as you guys danced to the music and yelled the lyrics to the song that was playing in each others facesâ
âWhite wings in my pillows and blankets (Lovin' under covers) I got markings on my body from tracin' (All over my body, girl) Rodeo for Cartier glasses. But, girl, you know how itchy my back get (Woah)â you two scream in unison as dominic fikes voice fills the house party. itâs like you two are the only people in this crowded space. mattâs eyes keep shifting from your lips to your eyes as you two continue to party, he doesnât know why. maybe itâs the alcohol or maybe itâs the feelings heâs been pushing down since the day you two met a couple months back.
it was now the end of the night, you and matt ended up needing to get an uberâan uber that you did in fact end up buyingâ his head is on your shoulder as your eyes look out the window into the city of boston that is merely lit by street lights, âhey,â matt muttered as his hand found your arm, squeezing it to get your attention, you hum a response, âi had-â he hiccups, âi had a really fuckinâ good time with you tonight,â he slurs, a small smile plasters on your face, âiâm glad-â you hum back, your eyes trying to focus on his, âi had fun too,â

Walking along the Boston streets, you were taking in the fresh air on a beautiful autumn day when a bakery came into your view and you couldnât help but to smile. However, it wasnât just any bakery, you had come here plenty of times growing up and now that you had finally graduated college and moved back to spend some time with your parents, you had to make this be your first stop after your plane had landed last night.
Walking in, the smell of fresh donuts hit your nose as you looked at the rows of display cases trying to decide what you wanted to get to take home for yourself as well as your parents. Mr. Besegai owned this bakery for as long as you could remember and when you looked up from the display case, you saw him coming out of the storage room with someone hot on his trail. He was tall, had curly hair, and for some reason his hair seemed to be damp, almost if he had just taken a shower which had you slightly confused. He looked to be in some type of rush and bumped into you as he had taken out his phone to glance at it as he was trying to get to the exit.
âOh, sorry about that.â He simply said while not bothering to look at you. But once he finally made eye contact with you he held your gaze for a second before you snapped out of it and finally responded back to him.
âItâs okay, no worries.â
âNever seen you around here before, you just moved here?â The curly haired man asked you and quickly shaking your head you told him no. Nobody ever intrigued Scalvo, but now that he had set his eyes on you, he was curious about the brown skin girl with the dyed auburn curly hair.
âNo, I just moved back. I just graduated from University of Maryland. I grew up here.â
Mr. Besegai was watching the exchange between the two of you as the wheels in his head started turning on how he could get his plan to work as he pretended that he was simply wiping down the counters. What you didnât know was that because of your father being a big time lawyer, he had spent the last four years in jail and had recently gotten out due to having good behavior because in actuality, he had gotten fifteen. It was all due to a misunderstanding, but your father wasnât trying to hear it. Your father and him would do business all the time and would constantly be meeting at his bakery. When your father had to bring you along, Mr. Besegai always made a point to give you a free donut. It changed every time since you didn't quite have a favorite flavor.
He wanted to get back at him for what he had done and knew that using Scalvo to get to you was going to be his best bet. If he could get you to trust him, that would make this job ten times easier.
As far as he knew, Scalvo didnât know who you were and he was going to do his best to keep it that way so that his plan would be able to work. He had found Scalvo wandering the streets of Boston when he was eleven and took him in after his grandmother had passed. As soon as he was old enough, he introduced him to his world of how he was able to make so much money and from that point on it was history. The two of you had never crossed paths before since you would be in boarding school the majority of the time.
Just last week, he had approached Scalvo and told him about his newest plan in order to rob the big time prosecutor for what he had done to him and then Scalvo had told him what he had done to his father which he had never mentioned. Your father apparently had convicted him of a crime that he didnât commit and was sent to prison to serve out his time. While he was there, he had another run in with another inmate and ended up losing his life. From that point, Scalvo began running away from home with his grandmother and felt that nothing made sense in the world anymore. Thatâs why he was the way he was now. It was all simply business with him. He didnât show emotion, let people in, and simply kept everyone at a distance. The only thing on his mind was making money and getting back at Mr. Lawson who stole his father away from him.
They simply had to wait until a big event happened in the city for the plan to be executed. Mr. Besegai had zoned out for a minute, but as he tuned back in to pay attention, he actually saw Scalvo smile which had never been a thing before.
Yeah, this would be the perfect thing to add to the plan.
âI guess I'll be seeing you around then.â Scalvo told you and you couldn't help but smile.
âI guess you will.â You simply answered, but was quickly interrupted by Mr. Besegai.
âY/N, what donut do you want today for old times sake?â
âOh, I canâŠâ
âNonsense. Pick out a donut and a cake to take home. Always good to see your face around. Maybe you can be a good influence on Scalvo here. He needs friends.â
Scalvoâs eyes went wide as he looked at him annoyed while you were focusing on the display of treats in front of you.
âHmm, I could always use another friend and I'm feeling the maple bacon donut and red velvet cake.â
âComing right up.â
After he boxed up your cake along with your donut, you were on your way and you made it a necessary task to say goodbye to Scalvo who once again smiled at you. Once you were gone, he quickly interrogated Mr. Besegai.
âWho is she?â
âOh, Y/N? Beautiful girl who comes from a beautiful family. Known her since she was born practically. She would be a good influence on you because God knows you need it.â
From that first meeting, Scalvo didnât quite know what it was, but you intrigued him. He felt a weird sensation in his stomach. Were those the butterflies that people always talk about? After getting your number, the two of you had gone on several dates to which Scalvoâs surprise he actually enjoyed so there was no doubt in his mind to ask you to be in a relationship with him. He was actually surprised that you said yes. He would simply be going over the plan to get back at Mr. Lawson during the day and spend time with you at night. It had been about four months since he and Mr. Besegai had been planning and knew that it was only a matter of time now, but the biggest thing he had to do was have patience.
So, they both had to make sure that they did it at the right time in the hopes that nothing would go wrong. Scalvo felt that he had waited long enough and it was finally time to get him back for what he did because at this point, the only thing that he did for Scalvo was ruin his life.
The two of you were currently taking a walk after you had had dinner at a restaurant that you had chosen in the city, and was simply taking in the fresh air before Scalvo dropped you back off at your apartment although it was a little cold outside. Scalvo had laughed when he saw you come outside from your apartment, but as soon as you said that you were still cold, he took his scarf to wrap it around you.
You had noticed that he had been extra quiet over the past few days and made a point to ask him about it. As you two were walking, you simply nudged him with your elbow. Breaking him out of his trance, he turned to look at you.
âHmm?â
âWhy are you so quiet? Is something on your mind? Youâve been really quiet since dinner, well actually these last few days. You know that you can tell me anything.â You asked him as you stopped walking and he quickly followed suit.
âYeah, but itâs nothing for you to worry your pretty little self about.â He told you as he lightly grabbed your hand and put it up to his lips to kiss the back of it.
âAre you sure? You know that you can always talk to me. Iâm a good listener.â
âI know you are, but itâs just not something that I want to focus on right now. Iâm here with you enjoying your company and thatâs what my focus should be. Iâm sorry that I got so distracted.â
âI just want to make sure youâre okay.â
He was far from it, but if he pulled this off it might make it a little better.
What Mr. Besegai didnât know about the plan was that he did plan on robbing him, but he also wanted to end his life.
An eye for an eye.
He wasnât about to tell him that and simply kept it to himself. His biggest thing was to not get caught because he knew if he did that he would serve serious time and more than likely would never get out.
Killing a big time lawyer? He would never hear the end of it.
And you would probably want nothing to do with him after that.
Only two things kept him going at this point, getting money and you.
He couldn't lose you, not now.
After he pulled this off, he wanted to be done with this life but didn't know how that would go when he told Mr. Besegai.
He would probably try to kill him because of how much he knew, but he needed to try.
He needed to try for you.
He wanted to be better for you.
He wanted you in his life for the long haul even though he imagined that it probably wouldnât be very long.
âIâm okay, promise.â
âThen are you actually going to tell me what you do for a living? You take me on these lavish dates, but have yet to tell me.â
Scalvo laughed to himself before he answered your question.
âI make investments in companies and when they take off, I get to see the money that comes from it. I just don't like talking about work when I'm with you. You're my peace from all of that.â
âYou must be pretty good at it then.â You told him as you two sat down on a bench in a park that you two had come across on your walk.
The only thing he thought was that he was simply good at it enough so that he didn't get caught.
âI guess Iâm alright.â He replied as he shrugged, but you simply smiled at him until he asked you what was up.
âWhat?â
âYou are too modest and never give yourself enough credit. But what are you doing this weekend?â You asked as an idea popped into your head.
âNothing important. But if it has to do with you, I just might make an exception.â He told you as he pinched your cheek making you laugh.
âMy parents have a cabin in Montreal and since I'm not doing anything either, maybe we could go.â
Scalvo smiled at the thought of you wanting to spend the weekend with him but there was a problem. Montreal was in Canada and he needed to get across the border.
With a passport.
Something that he didn't have.
Well he had a few days and could probably come up with an idea to make it happen. Maybe Mr. Besegai knew a guy because he literally always did.
âOkay and after this, I'm planning our next date since you planned the last two.â
âThere's a jacuzzi too just so you know.â You said as you smirked.
âWe're definitely going to be putting that to good use.â
â
The relaxing weekend was coming to an end as you two decided to go in the jacuzzi one last time before driving back down to Boston. The two of you had planned to leave in a few hours hoping to get back in the early hours of the afternoon. You were currently sitting on his lap while he had his arms around you.
âThank you for this. I needed it.â He whispered in your ear as a small smile graced your face.
âI could tell. You had been so distracted so my idea was to get you away for a little while. Besides, your focus wasn't on me and I didn't like that very much.â You told him as you turned to look at him.
âHmm. Well I promise to not let it happen again.â He told you as he leaned down to kiss you and you kissed him back with a sense of urgency and desperation.
Turning around to straddle him, your arms went around his neck as you felt him untie the top of your bathing suit letting it fall to the side and it was quickly forgotten. His hands traveled lower to rest on your hips before one of his hands started to run across your folds through the thin material that happened to be the only thing left covering your body.
Kisses were placed in a trail starting from your neck and kept going as he lifted you a bit higher to place kisses along your breasts before placing one of them in his mouth and sucking lightly leading a moan to escape from your mouth.
âMmm.â Was all that came out of your mouth as you threw your head back and you soon felt the other half of your bikini fall away from your body as he untied it.
Scalvo simply stood up as he held onto you and stepped out of the jacuzzi and made his way back inside the house to the master bedroom. He gently laid you down and he hovered over top of you as your arms went back around his neck and guided him closer to you so that he could meet his lips with yours.
âI need to hear you say what you want me to do to you.â He whispered against your lips and before you could answer, he lifted two of his fingers to your mouth and you immediately opened it to suck on them. Once he was satisfied with how wet they were, he slowly inserted them into you, making you gasp.
âBaby, you need to use your words. Tell me what you want.â
âI want to feel every inch of you.â You breathed out and you could see that cocky smirk that you loved so much spread across his face.
âWe'll get to that, but I need to taste you first. Is my pretty girl okay with that?â
You nodded your head as he moved down on the bed and took a hold on your hips before tightening it so that you wouldn't be able to move. The bruises that would be seen tomorrow would be worth it.
As he came face to face with your core when he got himself comfortable, he kissed up and down both of your inner thighs before you felt his tongue where you wanted him the most.
âBabeâŠâ You breathed out as he continued to pleasure you.
âYou like that? You like when I put my tongue in your pussy?â
âYes, oh fuck. Don't stop.â You told him as you grabbed your nipples in order to play with them and roll them between your fingers. You placed two fingers in your mouth and got them wet enough to rub it across both of them.
Luckily you two were in the mountains with no nearby neighbors and you could yell as loud as you wanted.
Your hands then quickly found their way to his hair that you loved to play in so much as he began to fuck you with his tongue faster.
âShit, stay right there, stay right there.â You told him with desperation in your voice. But he had a better idea. His fingers had replaced his tongue and his mouth then moved to suck on your swollen clit and you knew it was only a matter of time before you lost it.
And your original thought was right as you squirted back to back all over his face, but he still wasn't letting up as he continued to suck on your clit.
When he finally released his hold on you, you sat up and quickly kissed him and felt him slip his tongue in your mouth so that you could taste yourself which he quickly made a point to comment on.
âYou see how good you taste? I want more, but we can save that for later since I do remember you telling me that you wanted to feel every inch of me, correct?â
All you did was nod as you peered down to see him bricked up but he still had his swim trunks on. He followed your gaze and quickly kissed you once more.
âTake it out then.â
Doing what he asked, you slid them down and his dick sprung to life. You quickly spit in your hand before you began to palm him and jerk him off.
âHow do you want me, baby?â You asked in a whisper against his lips and he placed his hands around your neck as you continued to jerk him off.
âWhy are you asking me silly questions? You know how I want you. So get there.â
Smirking, you leaned forward to kiss him before turning around and positioning yourself on your knees and arching your back with your ass on display for him.
You felt his dick moving up and down the length of your folds before finally sliding in earning moans from the both of you.
Scalvo started out at a slow even pace to make sure you were comfortable before all that could be heard in the room was skin slapping against skin.
âGood girl, you're being such a good girl for me baby. You like when I fuck you like this?â He asked you, but the only thing that could be heard were your moans and whimpers from beneath him.
When you didn't answer him, you felt a soft smack to your ass, making him repeat his question.
âBaby, I asked you if you like when I fuck you like this? Answer me like the good girl I know you are. Otherwise I'm going to stop.â
âYes!â You were finally able to breathe out and without warning, Scalvo slid out of you and flipped you over before sliding back into you.
Now that the two of you were face to face, your foreheads were touching as he placed your legs on his shoulders. He captured you in a kiss as he continued to pound into you and you could feel the familiar feeling in your stomach building. Obviously Scalvo could tell by the look on your face.
âI'mâŠâ You started to say, but he immediately cut you off.
âI know, baby. Me too.â
Moments later both of you hit your peak at the same time and Scalvo slid out of you and you quickly sat up and took him in your mouth as you felt the sticky liquid hit the back of your throat.
As you milked him dry, he moved his hand down to slowly rub small circles along your clit before removing his hand and licking his fingers.
âMmm, my baby tastes so fucking good.â He told you before he lifted your face towards him so that he could kiss you.
âI need you to lay down for me.â You told him and he gave you another kiss before he did as he was told.
You simply straddled him as you faced away from him and he immediately knew what it was.
âWouldn't be right if I didn't reverse cowgirl on you.â
âGet to it, then.â
Both of you went for two more rounds until finally taking showers, changing the sheets and getting comfortable in bed. The two of you were simply talking as your head rested on his chest and he came to a realization.
âYou are so easy to talk to. I don't think I've ever told someone this much about myself.â He confessed and you turned to look up at him.
âBut one thing you've never talked about is your family.â
âThere's nothing to tell.â He told you and you could feel him tense up.
âBaby, you should know by now that you can trust me. Obviously it bothers you, but if you don't want to talk to me about it, maybe a therapist might help? I can tell it's a sensitive topic for you and youâre hurting.â As soon as the words left your mouth, he immediately turned up his nose.
âI don't need a therapist. My mom left when I was two and my father was killed. That's it and that's all.â
âI just want to help.â You told him as you grabbed his hand, but he moved it away from you.
âY/N, I get it. But I'm done talking about this.â
âBut babyâŠâ
âI said I was done.â He told you and the tone of his voice somewhat scared you, making you jump as you sat up to look at him.
He immediately had a guilty look on his face.
âIâm sorry. I didn't mean to yell at you. You don't deserve that.â He said as he moved a curl out of your face.
âI just want for you to be okay. You're always so distracted now. Iâm just worried.â
âIâll be fine, I promise.â He told you as he leaned forward to kiss your forehead. At that point he was just happy that you didn't move away from him.
It was quiet for a minute before either of you spoke again.
âI want you to have dinner with my parents next week on Friday. They went on a short trip and theyâll be getting back on Thursday night. I want you to meet them.â
Scalvoâs eyes suddenly went wide and he wasnât quite sure what to say to that. This was a situation that he had never been in before.
âI⊠you want me to meet them?â He asked for clarification and you simply nodded.
âIâve been spending a lot of time with you and youâre important to me and one of my favorite people to be around. I think thatâs worth sharing with other people.â
âIf itâll make you happy, then Iâll do it.â He told you as he smiled at you and you leaned up to kiss him, he eagerly kissed you back and when the two of you broke apart, you were sitting in a comfortable silence as you laid your head back down on his chest.
Scalvoâs heart was beating a mile a minute as he sat there and thought about the situation that he was currently in.
You were too good for him and way out of his league and he knew it.
Yet, he couldnât bring himself to stay away from you seeing as it was getting harder and harder by the day.
â
It was the day before Scalvo was due to have dinner with you and your parents and he was on edge and very annoyed.
He was currently with Mr. Besegai and Cobby going over the plans that would take place two days from now on that Saturday night. He thought at first that he was going to do this job by himself seeing as heâs done many by himself before, but to his surprise, Cobby was brought on at the last minute. He was a drunk who talked too much and he was the last person that he wanted to be around. After arguing with Mr. Besegai about his decision for ten minutes, he had finally given up.
His thoughts quickly went to you and he wondered if you were having a good day seeing as he hadnât really had any time to call and check up on you. Not that you would mind though since you had it in your mind that he was this big time investor that was busy a lot of the time. He knew that you wouldnât question if he had been M.I.A. for the majority of the day. As he thought of you, his phone quickly vibrated and he looked down to see a text message from you and he instantly got a smile on his face.
You- Hi, handsome! Just checking on you. I hope youâre having a good day. Call me when you can.
Cobby noticed Scalvo smiling at his phone and raised an eyebrow before addressing it.
âScalvo! Pay attention! What the fuck has you smiling at your phone like that?â
âYour momâs nudes, now mind your own fucking business and leave me the hell alone.â
âOutta pocket and unnecessary.â
âYou being here is unnecessary because I donât fucking need you in order to pull this off.â
âWill you two knock it off for Christâs sake?! Scalvo, Cobby is here because he offered to help and quite frankly, you could probably use it in this situation.â Mr. Besegai said and Scalvo immediately rolled his eyes.
âNow what the fuck is that supposed to mean?!â
âDonât start with me. Now we need to go over this one more time to make sure we have it right.â
The entire reason that he decided to bring Cobby on was not because he didnât have any confidence in Scalvo being able to pull it off, it was because when Scalvo found out the connection between you and Mr. Lawson there was a possibility that he could be hesitant going through with the plan entirely and he couldnât risk that. He knew that the two of you had grown close seeing as you spent a few days out of the week with each other. He figured that he should probably tell him about the connection, but the last thing he wanted to do was cloud his judgment. He needed him to be focused in order to be able to pull this off.
He knew for a fact that Scalvo would never do anything to hurt you or put you in harmâs way.
As they were going over the plan once more, Scalvo was only half listening since he had this damn plan memorized since day one and simply sent you a text back.
Scalvo- Been busy all day and definitely missing you. Canât wait for dinner tomorrow night and Iâll call you once Iâm finished.
âAll I know is Scalvo better not fuck this up since heâs over there not listening.â Cobby said and all Scalvo did was look in his direction before responding.
âYou have one more motherfucking time to say some shit to me before I put a bullet in your head.â He told him as he pulled out his gun and aimed it at him.
âLetâs fucking go, then!â
âHEY! NO! NONE OF THAT! Not before this job is done then I could care less what the two of you do. I canât believe at one point in time you two used to be friends.â
âYeah me either. His ass needs a fucking therapist.â Cobby said and Scalvo had just put his gun back, but still had his hand on it.
âAre we done here? I got shit to do. And for your information I have a therapist because my girlfriend made me get one. Not that it's any of your business, asshole.â
When the two of you had finally gotten back to Boston, Scalvo actually looked into getting a therapist and found one that he actually liked. You were so excited when he told you about it.
âWell it's obviously not working. And since when do you have a girlfriend?!â
âItâs only my first week, so Iâll still bust a cap in your drunk ass. And once again, my business and not yours.â
Mr. Besegai simply waved Scalvo off and he made his way to the door to go down the steps before turning back to Cobby.
âI brought you on not because I didnât think that he could do it, but because his judgment is going to be clouded once he figures everything out and we canât have that.â
âHow so?â
âThe man weâre about to rob? Scalvoâs dating his daughter and he has no idea. Once he finds out he might not go through with it. If that happens, I need you to be able to finish the job for me.â
âFuck and Iâm not supposed to tell him anything?! This could turn into a fucking disaster.â
âHeâll find out soon enough. Until then, just let him be. This is just as Important to him as it is to me.â
As promised, as soon as Scalvo made his way to his car he called you and you picked up on the third ring.
âHello?â
âMy princess hasn't heard from me all day and I missed her.â He confessed as he weaved through Boston traffic.
âShe misses you two and also wants you to do something for her.â
âName it and it'll be done.â
âPick me up from work since my car was acting stupid earlier? My dad sent a tow truck over and he offered me a ride, but I said I would wait for my handsome boyfriend to come and get me.â
âSay less. I'll be right there.â
Scalvo quickly made an illegal u-turn as he started heading in the direction towards your job. Once he pulled up and saw you, he was all smiles and opened the door for you to get in.
First thing he did as you got into the car was kiss you and you made sure that you gave him several kisses back.
âMm, I missed tasting those lips so much.â He told you and all you did was laugh.
âSurprised that you didn't say that you missed my other pair of lips.â
âOh, I missed those too and I can't wait for us to be able to catch up later.â
As both of you moved through rush hour traffic, you told Scalvo that you were hungry and he mentioned that he had stuffed a menu from a new place that had just opened up in the glove compartment that had good reviews. Once you opened it, you were surprised to see a 9mm handgun staring back at you and gulped.
âScalvoâŠâ
âWhat's wrong, babe?â
You never called him Scalvo unless you were being serious, so he knew that something was probably wrong.
âWhy do you have a gun in your glove compartment?â You asked and his eyes went wide as he looked over and saw it. He simply grabbed the menu for you and hastily shut It.
Fuck, he forgot he put it in there. The last thing he wanted to happen was you seeing it.
âYou closing it so that I can't see it is not making it go away. Why do you have that?â You asked and he refused to make eye contact with you.
âFor protection.â
âNot a good enough answer.â
âWell it's the truth.â
âProtection from who?â
âBaby, don't worry about it. Just look at the menu and tell me what you want to eat.â
âNot until I get an explanation.â
âBeing a person who does the job that I do can lead to having a lot of enemies. I need to protect myself at all times.â
âButâŠ. you told me that you invest in small businesses.â
âI do and I dress like this to not draw any attention to myself. If I don't look the part, people might leave me alone. But you can never be too sure.â
âWell I don't like it.â
âY/N, it doesn't matter if you don't like it. I'm not getting rid of it. I need to be able to protect myself and you if it comes down to it.â
âBut why? Why would that even happen?â
âNothing wrong with being prepared. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something happened to you that I could have prevented.â
There was something that he wasn't being honest about and you could tell. Despite him telling you that you were an easy person to talk to, you felt that he still held onto a lot of secrets.
âYou know what you want to eat yet?â
âDrop me off at home until youâre ready to be honest with me.â You told him as the forgotten menu was held in your hand, but you weren't looking at it.
âBaby, come on. I want to spend time with you and I told you why I have it. Last thing I want to do is fight with you.â
âIf someone was after you, you would tell me, correct? So I could help you?â
âPrincessâŠâ
âAnswer my question.â
âYes, now can we move on?â
âFor now, but I still don't like it.â
âYou'll forget all about it once I eat you out later at your apartment.â
â
There was literally only one day to go until Scalvo and Cobby would be breaking into James Lawson's house and robbing him of everything that he was worth and Scalvo was hoping that it would end with him being able to put him six feet under.
They had done a dry run earlier in the day, even though the ride mostly consisted of them arguing and Scalvo actually leaving Cobby and making him run behind the car for shits and giggles before he eventually stopped to let him back in.
Now he was on his way to dinner with your parents. After telling Scalvo to pick up some dessert from the bakery for dinner, he picked you up from your apartment and then the two of you were on your way to your parents house. As he turned on the street, you pointed at which house it was and he instantly got a sinking feeling in his stomach.
No, this couldnât be right.
This was the lawyerâs house, James Lawson where he lives with his wife and two dogs
The house he planned on robbing tomorrow night with Cobby.
Since when did he have a daughter? Or any kids for that matter? He didnât remember reading that anywhere and he always did his research before a job.
âWait, this one?â He asked once more as he pointed at it before turning to pull into the long driveway.
âYes, this is it. My dad is a lawyer. You might have heard of him, James Lawson? Apparently he's a really big deal in Boston.â You said while laughing. Everyone knew your dad and it wasn't always for the best reasons.
Scalvo gulped as he nodded his head and began to park next to who he assumed was your fatherâs range rover.
Fuck, this canât be happening, this CANNOT be happening
âOh, I didnât know that he was your dad.â
âYeah, but to keep me protected he didnât really talk about me and my mom very much so not a lot of people know. I even use my momâs last name in order to not draw any attention to myself. A lot of people don't like my dad.â
As you undid your seatbelt, you looked over to see him looking nervous.
âBabe? Everything okay? You look pale. Well, more pale than usual. You feel alright?â You asked him as you felt his forehead.
âUm, Iâm fine.â
âHey, donât be nervous. Theyâre going to love you. I already told them so much about you.â You told him as you grabbed a hold of his face and turned it towards you.
Oh shit
âI just⊠Iâve never done this before with anyone. Youâre the first girl that Iâve ever taken this much interest in and I just want to do this right.â He told you being completely honest.
âYouâre freaking yourself out over nothing, I promise itâll be fine.â You told him as you leaned in to kiss him.
âThen later itâll be just us once we go back to my apartment. But maybe I can give you a preview once we leave here.â Whispering in his ear and giving his bicep a small squeeze, you smiled at him and he returned it, but you could tell that it didnât quite reach his eyes.
After you had gotten out of the car, Scalvo quickly followed you while grabbing the cake from the backseat and walked side by side as you both made your way to the front door. You simply put your key into the door and unlocked it.
As the two of you stepped inside, you called out to see where your parents were as you led him into the kitchen in order to put the cake on the table.
âIn here!â You heard your mom say from the living room and you grabbed Scalvo's hand that had gotten noticeably sweatier in the last three minutes.
When your parents came into view, you immediately hugged them before stepping back to introduce them to Scalvo and you could tell that they were intrigued by him.
This was the first person you had bought home since your prom date so you knew that they were probably excited.
âMom, dad. This is my boyfriend Scalvo who I can't stop talking about.â You told them and felt him in some way relax as he was holding your hand.
âIt's nice to meet you Mr. And Mrs. Lawson.â He told them and they smiled at him and quickly embraced him.
âIt's so good to finally meet you!â Your mom told him, but your dad was looking at him curiously.
âHmm, are you sure that we haven't met before?â He asked Scalvo who immediately shook his head no even though that was a lie.
They had met plenty of times and the first one was at his dad's trial believe it or not.
âYou just look so familiar, but anyway I'm happy to meet you. All she does is talk about you.â
âOkay! Enough of throwing me under the bus!â You exclaimed, earning a laugh from everyone in the room.
âHey, you started it.â Your dad said as he held up his arms in defense.
âCome on, dinner should be ready. We can go sit in the dining room.â Your mom announced and that was when Scalvo mentioned the cake.
âOh, and I brought a cake for dessert.â
âPerfect! We didn't have time to make one so that worked out.â
Once all of you got settled around the dining room table, plates were piled high with food and conversation between Scalvo and your parents came easy. You could tell that he had finally relaxed or he was putting on a really good front at the moment. Your thoughts were then interrupted by your dad asking him what he did for a living.
âOh, Iâm a businessman you could say. I invest in small business and then I make a profit from it.â
âReally? What company is your latest investment in?â
âMr. Besegaiâs bakery not too far from here.â
Well that wasnât entirely a lie.
âAh, Mr. Besegai, great man. Known him for a long time. Used to always go to his bakery every weekend that Y/N was home from boarding school to get treats.â
So, thatâs why Scalvo had never seen you before.
âYeah, he is.â
âI hear thatâs where the two of you met.â Your mom added and both of you smiled at each other.
âHe almost knocked me over, but yes.â You had told your mother as you sipped on your wine.
âI was looking down and didnât notice you! You arenât exactly tall.â
âHEY!â
Scalvo held his hands up in defense as you gave him the evil eye, but that eventually went away as you began laughing.
Before the cake was cut for dessert, Scalvo excused himself to the bathroom in order to text Mr. Besegai.
Scalvo- Are you FUCKING serious?
Old man who gets on my nerves- What now?
Scalvo- Why didnât you tell me who her parents were? You knew. You fucking knew this entire time.
Old man who gets on my nerves- I planned it perfectly. I wanted you to get closer to her to make our job easier.
Scalvo- How do you expect me to still be able to do it!?
Old man who gets on my nerves- I donât care how it gets done, but you better fucking do it. Otherwise I will have your head on a silver platter and you know Iâm good for my word. Get it done so I donât have to hurt you or your little girlfriend.
Scalvo- If you touch one hair on her head, I will empty my clip into your fucking chest
Old man who gets on my nerves- Donât fucking forget who saved you from being homeless on the street. I took you in when I could have let you starve. Do as you're told and she doesnât get hurt.
The next day, Scalvo had told you that he would more than likely be busy and to keep you distracted from what would be going down at your parents house later, he sent you to an expensive spa for the weekend and would pick you up on Monday morning. He was currently in his car with Cobby sitting outside of your parents house, except they were down the street so that they wouldnât be seen.
Cobby felt like he was distracted and didnât want to say anything about it, however he needed for him to focus so that the two of them would be able to pull this off.
âUh, you alright over there?â He asked him and Scalvo turned to him and rolled his eyes.
âYou knew, didnât you?â
âKnew what?â
âThat weâre robbing my girlfriendâs parents.â
âI.. uh.. Look, he told me not to tell you because he didnât want your judgment to be clouded.â
âWell now what the fuck am I supposed to do? He threatened to hurt her, but me doing this is probably going to hurt her more.â
âHmm, I see therapy is really working. Youâre really opening up to me.â
âCobby, I will still kill you, let's get that straight. You still donât know what to say out of your fucking mouth after all these years.â
âTell me who your therapist is, I need to go and see them.â
âCOBBY WILL YOU FUCKING FOCUS?â
âOkay, fine, fine. Letâs just get this done, because if you donât go through with this, heâll either kill you or kill her.â
âI added on another part of the plan that I didnât tell you about.â
âAre you going to share with the class?â He asked after Scalvo was quiet for a few minutes.
âI was going to kill him for what he did to my father, but now I canât bring myself to do it.â
âNot Scalvo having feelings.â
âI will⊠look, I think theyâre finally sleeping so letâs go over the plan one more time and then itâs go time.â
âOkay, lover boy, let's do this.â
âDonât call me that.â
The plan was to break into his office and get into his safe while Cobby despite how fucking stupid Scalvo thought he was figured out a way to empty his bank accounts. He still didnât understand how he figured it out, but he wasnât asking questions. He just wanted for this to be over with. After the two of you had eaten dessert the day before, Scalvo asked for a tour of the house and he knew that he could use this to his advantage. Even though he had the blueprints and floor plans of the house, seeing it in real time in front of him was a different story.
Your parents knew what he looked like so wearing a mask was a must. He reached for his gun and got it out of the glove compartment, just in case.
Just in case.
After cutting off the electricity to the house and disarming it, Scalvo and Cobby slipped their way inside and moved to the bottom floor where his office was.
Cobby got out tools in order to open the safe as Scalvo stood there ready to load the money into it when he suddenly heard footsteps behind them. They looked at each other in a panic before the office door swung open and they were now face to face with your father who was holding a gun in his hand.
âIf the two of you leave quietly, we can forget that this ever happened.â
âEhh, no can do sir. Our orders come from higher up, so weâll just take this money and be on our way.â Cobby said and it was as if Scalvo was too out of it to speak.
âIâll give you one more chance, next time Iâm shooting.â
Scalvo didnât say anything, but instead knocked your fatherâs gun out of his hand kicking it away from him and held his gun up to his temple as Cobby looked on with wide eyes. Scalvo nodded towards Cobby to finish what he was doing before they were interrupted, but he still stayed quiet. Your parents knew what his voice sounded like and if he opened his mouth that would be the end of it.
Your dad held up his hands in defense as Cobby began stuffing the duffle bag.
âIâm done, letâs go.â He told Scalvo who was still holding the gun up to your fatherâs head and he didnât move.
âItâs not worth it, letâs go. We have bigger things to think about.â He said as he tugged on his arm.
Scalvo finally lowered the gun as he sighed, but only told Cobby one word.
âRope.â
The two of them left your father sitting in the dark tied to his office chair with duct tape on his mouth, but at least he was alive.
The ride back to downtown Boston was silent as Cobby was working on his laptop emptying his bank account.
âIf she finds out, sheâs never going to forgive me.â
âEhh, she might. At least you left him alive. That has to count for something, right?â
â
The next few days were a blur after you had called Scalvo frantic and told him about what had happened to your parents. You told him that you were going to stay with them for a few days since your mother was still pretty shaken up about the entire thing. You also couldnât put your finger on it, but Scalvo was acting weird. You could tell that he was once again hiding something from you and the plan was to get it out of him one way or another.
It was Friday and your lunch break when you decided to go to the sandwich shop that was next to the bakery before heading back to work when you spotted Scalvo talking to someone outside of it when you pulled up in your car. You smiled to yourself before getting out of the car and greeting him.
âHi babe!â You said as you came up beside him and it was clear that you startled him.
âOh hey. Arenât you supposed to be at work?â He asked as he hugged you and kissed the top of your head.
âLunch break, but Iâll be heading back soon. Whoâs your friend?â You asked as you turned to Cobby.
âCobby, Scalvoâs best friend. Nice to meet you. He doesnât shut up about you.â
âHe uses that term too loosely.â Scalvo muttered and you laughed.
âWell, itâs nice to meet you. Scalvo needs to get out more, but he doesnât think so. But maybe you could help with that.â You answered when Cobbyâs wrist caught your eye. It was a gold bracelet and it looked very familiar.
Too familiar.
As in it was your fatherâs bracelet that he kept in his safe.
The safe that was broken into last week and they still had no leads.
Now it was adding up.
Expensive cars.
Expensive trips.
Expensive jewelry.
He got you anything you wanted without giving it a second thought.
But, him having the gun and always being secretive was everything that you needed to know.
Scalvo wasnât a businessman at all.
He was a fucking criminal.
Your boyfriend was a criminal and he had just stolen from your parents.
âIâll see what I can do.â He told you as he smiled. You smiled back before turning to Scalvo.
âMeet me at my apartment later?â
âIâll be there.â
It was around nine at night when Scalvo finally knocked on your apartment door. You let him in and simply went to pour yourself a glass of wine. You poured him one too and slid it in front of him, but you were still quiet.
âBaby?â
âIâm going to ask you this and please do not lie to me.â
âOkay, what is it?â
âWhy was your friend Cobby wearing my fatherâs gold bracelet that he keeps in his safe?â
Oh, fuck.
âUhâŠâ
âScalvo, if you lie to me I will literally fucking riot. How did he get it?â
He remained quiet as he was taking this moment in.
There was no way in the world that the two of you would be able to move past this.
âSCALVO, ANSWER ME NOW DAMN IT!â
âWe broke into your parents house and took it. ButâŠ.â
âHow could you do that? Why would you do that?â
âJust let me explain. Please.â Scalvo pleaded with you as he grabbed your hand, but you quickly shook your head and got loose from his grasp.
âExplain, what? How you used me? Stole my dad's money? Do I mean absolutely nothing to you? I love you and I feel so stupid for it!â
âI love you too! You mean the world to me, please understand that and no! I didn't even know who you were when we met! It had nothing to do with you! It was Mr. Besegai because he was mad that your father put him in jail. When I finally figured it out, he said if I didnât go through with it that he was going to hurt you and I couldnât have that happen.â
âI feel so stupid because you straight up played me like a fool. Hmm, businessman huh? All you do is fucking steal for a living.â
âI never meant to hurt you. Please understand that. But my father died because your father wrongfully convicted him and he died in jail before I could get a chance to prove that he was innocent and has done the same thing to how many other people?â
âIâm sorry about your father and what happened to him wasnât fair in any way, shape or form, but this is not the way to fix things and you know it.â
âThere's a right way? Then tell me so I can bring my dad back. The only one who actually gave a damn about me.â
âThe person who is standing in front of you right now also gives a damn about you!â
âYou'll never understand. Look where you come from and then look where I come from. We were doomed from the start.â He said as he started to walk away and you quickly stood in front of the exit blocking him in.
âWe can fix this.â
âWe'll never work and you know it. What I've done is always going to be at the back of your mind. I care about you Y/N, butâŠ. Just take care of yourself.â
âNo, you do not get to walk away that easily. You⊠just wait a minute.â
âI can and I will. This is done. Itâs whatâs best for the both of us no matter how hard it might be.â
âSo, thatâs it? Youâre just going to leave me?â You asked as you felt the tears build up in the corners of your eyes. Scalvo noticed and it took everything in him not to embrace you right then and there. He took a step forward, but moved right back because he knew that if he did, he wouldn't want to let you go.
âIâm not any good for you. I have absolutely nothing to offer you and letâs be serious. A daughter or a lawyer dating someone who makes money by stealing from important people in power?â
âBut I still want you.â
He knew at that point as much as he didnât want to do it, he had to say something that would hurt you in order for you to stay away from him.
For your own good and for his.
âAnd youâre living in a fantasy land if you think that this would ever work. Y/N, do me a favor and donât call me anymore, donât look for me. This is it. Weâre over, and weâre done. This relationship is a one-way street, and it was only going to lead to a dead end.â

This 1924 Tudor in Detroit, MI really surprised me. It's in the prestigious Arden Park-East Boston Historic District, has 5bds, 6ba, listed for $685K, and if you're expecting English Tudor style, think again. Let's go inside.
The lovely original cathedral style door in the foyer.
And, hello marble floors, silver wallpaper and white, white, white.
In the sitting room there's a remodeled fireplace in black & white with mirrors.
The dining room is decorated in Chinese style.
The kitchen has some of the original features. The lower cabinets are new and so is the marble counter and backsplash.
The kitchen is an eat-in with plenty room for a table & chairs.
The pantry has an incredible original fridge. Even if it doesn't work, it's a great vintage piece that can used for storage.
The den is lovely with a wall of glass doors and shelving
Beautiful very large sun room. Look at how well-maintained the floor is.
The half bath was redecorated, but still has the original sink and toilet.
The hall and stairs were redecorated, but they left the niche.
Look at this landing.
The primary bedroom.
The bath looks original.
This bedroom looks is as large as the primary.
Another bath looks refreshed and vintage.
This room looks like an upstairs sitting room with a bar.
Downstairs there's a wonderful vintage finished basement- look at the tufted red bar and the fabulous black & red floor.
Another room in the basement, plus the laundry room.
That is so cool- I wonder if they'll leave that vintage stove. And, look at the huge utility sink.
Outside the sun room there's a patio.
And, a very pretty yard on a .38 acre lot.
Lovely 2 car garage.
Gated port cochere.
Very pretty neighborhood.
