I’ve always thought sponsored bowl games were a bit odd, but DEAR GOD watching the Duke’s Mayo Bowl has changed me irreparably.

The had the reporters eat things like ice cream bars and pizza dipped in mayo

They had multiple people pour mayo directly into their mouths

Flava Flav was dressed up in a mayo mascot suit

Instead of a Gatorade pour on the winning coach they did a mayo pour

I’m genuinely baffled. Who would watch this and decide ‘man I really want some mayo’? The only enjoyable thing about it was watching the looks of genuine horror on the players’ faces. Only time I’ve been glad my team lost so I didn’t have to see Pry covered in fucking MAYO

It didn't end in a win, but we played a good game. The refs were a bit of a joke. Two massive no calls swung the game in my opinion. An ignored pass interference and a no call against the Illinois coach for his taunting (he was on side of the field on top of all things).

When the playoffs expand to 12 teams the other bowl games have to go. Opt outs, coaching changes, transfers not playing… what’s the point? It’s not a real postseason. Fuck the bowl games.

He has a point. I didn't watch a single bowl game outside of the ones dealing with the national championship. If my alma mater was playing in a bowl, I would have watched it, but as far as any other outside of national championship implications, I'm okay giving them a pass. That's a shame. The bowl games used to mean something, but times have changed.
