Ugh! Ty SOOO much for pointing out that lying post about the fake confirmation about Joy being a lesbian!! /very positive.
As a queer bi guy who enjoys animation, I am honestly getting sick of Disney just blatantly being like "HERE is our first queer character for the 1937291047th time šŸ˜!!" But its like...you barely show that character on screen in your movies for more than two seconds or have a single line in them. And I hate how everyone (mostly loser Disney adults in their 30s-40s) including young baby gays are just like "OMG Disney is SOOOOOOOO inclusive!!!šŸ’žšŸ’ž!!! We luv ya Disney!!!!"
Not to mention that you're right, its not funny. In my opinion (although, its pretty much for everyone agreeing), I just hate how corporal companies like Disney just force queer representation just to make themselves money--they claim that """they care""" about queer ppl although its like,,,bitch, you don't. If you REALLY care, then maybe you should let Alex have gay cops in Gravity Falls and Dana do more seasons of a human and a witch in a sapphic relationship. And its not JUST Disney, but also Amazon Prime with Hazbin Hotel, too--the only reason why the show was so fast-paced is because Amazon and other shitty entertainment companies wouldn't even GIVE creators like Vivzie a chance of telling the story in a proper pace in doing more episodes so the only way to squeeze in the first half of the whole story was to quickly tell it and be done.
Like, I miss when we would have SO much episodes in ONE season just so we could see properly-paced characterization and story-telling in shows. But now television has gone to shit thanks to greedy CEOs and "I-don't-give-a-shit-about-your-creations-as-long-as-you-make-me-money" companies.
Sorry for the rant, I just wanted to get it off my chest šŸ˜…
Not the first time someone rant out to me, or me ranting out on someone. But yeah. And youā€™re welcome. Iā€™ve been tricked thinking that Molly from the Ghost and Molly McGee was canon to be a lesbian, and that got me embarrassed when people told me it was a fake. Itā€™s shit like this why I have trust issues. You donā€™t know whatā€™s real and whatā€™s not, and people are just twisting your balls about it
Like why the fuck are people making fake news? Since when have CEOā€™s gets so greedy over the years? Why do companies like Disney have to be a bitch about queer people and saying they support them, when we all knew thatā€™s a lie?
God, when I thought the future got better, the people are still getting worse
To everyone who makes fake news like that, KNOCK IT OFF!! ITā€™S NOT FUNNY!! IT MESSED UP PEOPLE THINKING ITā€™S REAL INFORMATION!! AND IT MAKES THEM LOOK BAD WHEN THEY REALIZE THEY GOT THEIR HOPES UP FOR NOTHING!! AND DONā€™T SAY YOU SUPPORT GAY PEOPLE, WE JUST KNOW YOUā€™RE AFTER MONEY AND NOT REALLY SUPPORTING QUEER!!!
*inhaled* And now Iā€™m done with my rant

I lied. Put your clothes back on.
Weā€™re gonna talk about how the voltron fandom gaslit themselves into thinking klance was supposed to be canon but wasnā€™t because DreamWorks was ā€œscared of backlashā€ or they had just forgotten entirely.
Like I get weā€™re all desperate for any more voltron content, but going around spreading false information about the writing decisions in voltron (which were already pretty bad) isnā€™t going to help any more.
It was never supposed to be canon. They were made as opposites and their bond grew over the seasons and rightfully began when Lance said they made a great team and solidified at the sunset scene. They were created to contrast eachother.
How about instead letā€™s talk about how dreamworks intended on killing hunk off and a Lance movie was shelved because the studio went bankrupt or something (I donā€™t mean dreamworks I mean the animation studio)

Astral learning things about the Earth and its culture thanks to television is both hilarious and cute to me.
One of the headcanon that lives in my head rent-free is that, when Astral watches the TV all the night, he remembers everything he saw, and then tell Yuma what he learned, and most of the time those are the most random facts that you can imagine (and while Yuma has to remind him that not everything that is on TV is real, some times he too learns something new).

alright new totk headcanon: ganondorf did try to put gloom everywhere when he woke up as a mummy, but rauru is actually the one who caused the upheaval to put every single chance behind link in his fight against ganondorf

"The feast of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist being appointed as the day upon which the coronation of the king [Edward V] would take place without fail, all both hoped for and expected a season of prosperity for the kingdom."
-Excerpt from the Croyland Continuator / David Horspool, Richard III: A Ruler and Reputation
Even though Edward IVā€™s death was unexpected, after twelve years of peace there need not have been too much of a sense of foreboding about the succession. The great dynastic wound from which the Wars of the Roses had grown had not so much been healed as cauterized by the extinction of the House of Lancaster. There was no rush for London, as had happened in earlier, disputed successions. The royal party didnā€™t set out from Ludlow for ten days after hearing the news of Edward IVā€™s death, while Richard took his time, too. And the new king had [his mother the dowager queen and] two uncles to support him: his motherā€™s brother, the sophisticated, cultured, highly experienced Earl Rivers; and his fatherā€™s, the loyal and reliable Duke of Gloucester, to whom Edward IV had entrusted unprecedented power and vital military command.
... [Richard of Gloucester] had achieved his goal by a mixture of luck and ruthlessness, and if he made it appear, or even believed himself, that destiny played a part, this only made him a man in step with his times. Modern historians have no time for destiny, but sometimes the more ā€˜structuralistā€™ interpretations of the events surrounding the usurpation can come close to it. When we read that ā€˜the chances of preserving an unchallenged succession were . . . weakened by the estrangement of many of the rank-and-file nobility from . . . high politics, which was partly a consequence of the Wars of the Roses and partly of Edward IVā€™s own policiesā€™, it is hard not to conclude that an unforeseeable turn of events is being recast as a predictable one. But without one overriding factor ā€“ the actions of Richard, Duke of Gloucester after he took the decision to make himself King Richard III ā€“ none of this could have happened. That is, when the same author concedes ā€˜Nor can we discount Richardā€™s own forceful characterā€™, he is pitching it rather low*.
Edward IV had not left behind a factional fault line waiting to be shaken apart. Richard of Gloucesterā€™s decision to usurp was a political earthquake that could not have been forecast on 9 April, when Edward died. After all, Simon Stallworth did not even anticipate it on 21 June, the day before Richard went public. We should be wary of allowing hindsight to give us more clairvoyance than the well-informed contemporary who had no idea ā€˜what schall happyneā€™. This is not to argue that Richardā€™s will alone allowed him to take the Crown. Clearly, the circumstances of a minority, the existence of powerful magnates with access to private forces, and the reasonably recent examples of resorts to violence and deposition of kings, made Richardā€™s path a more conceivable one. But Richardā€™s own tactics, his arrest of Rivers, Vaughan and Grey, the rounding up of Hastings and the bishops, relied on surprise. If men as close as these to the workings of high politics at a delicate juncture had no inkling of what might happen, the least historians can do is to reflect that uncertainty [...].
(*The author who Horspool is referencing and disagreeing with is Charles Ross)
#wars of the roses#edward v#richard iii#edward iv#my post#I'm writing a post on this topic but I have no idea when I'll finish it so I figured I should post Horspool's epic analysis#or should I say epic takedown? <3#friendly reminder that Richard's usurpation happened primarily and decidedly because of Richard's own decisions and actions#we need to stop downplaying his singular agency and accountability by casting the blame on others#most of all Elizabeth Woodville and her family but also the bizarre interpretation of historians like Ross and Pollard (et al)#who somehow hold Edward more responsible (through a 'structuralist' view as Horspool says) even though that literally makes no sense#also friendly reminder that actual contemporaries did not view Edward V's minority as a sign of worry and potential discontent#quite the opposite - they expected him to have a prosperous reign. which made sense since Edward IV left his son a far more stable#country than any former minor king (and most other adult kings tbh). The irony is that it was his son's usurper who benefitted from it.#also I added Elizabeth Woodville to the list because Edward V himself specifically said that he trusted the governance of the country#'to the peers of the realm and the queen' as quoted by Mancini (likely relayed to him by John Argentine)#and this is supported by evidence. After Edward's death the Croyland Continuator substitutes Elizabeth's role in the council#for that of the King: 'the counsellors of the king now deceased were present with the queen'#we know Elizabeth presided over all the council's decisions and initiated proposals (the size of her son's military escort) on her own#She was clearly the one with the most authority in the council (who were described as being present with *her* not anyone else)#Hastings made demands but he couldn't enforce them at all (and was in fact worried). It was clearly Elizabeth who had that power.#She was likely going to play a very prominent role during her son's minority and imo it's problematic to assume otherwise#(Lynda Pidgeon assumes otherwise but she's based her assumption on objectively false information so I don't think we should take her#seriously)(see: she claims that EW lacked influence compared to her male relatives in royal councils when EW HERSELF WAS IN ROYAL COUNCILS)#That's not to go too far the other direction and claim EW tried to dominate and tactlessly exclude others - we know she didn't#The impression we get by this first council and by Richard's own actions indicates that she Richard and Anthony would likely#work *together* when it came to governing the realm#I do find it frustrating when people disregard the fact that based on the impression we have she would've had a very visible#and powerful role

response to the anon under the cut lmao i don't wanna annoy ppl with it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i see your point but i'm not gonna let someone tell me that i don't deserve the same amount of romance scenes bc y'all don't think my fave character is important lol
the hours less content thing isn't correct and im not gonna argue that. he's also not the one POC character, i feel like there was enough discourse about karlach for ppl to stop saying that? he got the same amount of content in the last patch as everyone else, i really don't know why this patch pushed everyone over the edge
i disagree that he plays little part in his quest, he's also never been bugged for me (i just gotta repeat. ur talking to a minthara fan. i KNOW what bugged looks like, there are entire conversations with minthara i still can't access)
i just want to repeat, i'm totally all for wyll getting more content, his act 1 scene is worse and shorter than all other romance scenes (including minthara!). all characters should be getting the same amount of content. it's just the lies ppl are spreading that annoy me

WE GOT PUPPET YODA!!!!!!!
No, seriously, this episode was amazing and once again Iā€™m wondering about all those people claiming this show was bad.
Was it perfect? No, no it wasnā€™t, I could say a few thing here and there.
But did it have this complex simpleness that is so important in Star Wars, interesting characters and epic moments? Yes, absolutely.

Does anyone have any confirmation on whether Gofund me has been freezing fundraisers meant for Palestinian families? I've seen the tiktok talking about it but no supporting material showing that it's true. If so maybe a mass email campaign could put the pressure on the site. There is also the question on if it's gofund me or if it's the banks which are freezing transfers?
In the meantime Care For Gaze has a paypal you can send donations to directly, they're doing on the ground work delivering essentials to families.

Psst, you hearing any teasers of who might be in the 1000th episode as a 'surprise'? Everyone seems so sure of who it might be. Just wondering if you're about to say that we 100% should watch the episode
If you are asking if anyone from our ship is gonna be thereā€¦ nope

My sister teaches 6th grade at a charter school.
A few weeks ago, a student in the other 6th grade class was accused by a classmate of sexual harassment.
My first reaction when I heard this: OMG, what a bastard.
My sister said, "He's severely autistic, has no concept of social cues, and we watched the security cameras where the girl said it happened, and it definitely did NOT happen."
I was like, "wait, I need more information."
Turns out, we don't actually know everything until someone actually tells us everything.
Don't assume things, kids.

african archaeology is one of the academic subdisciplines of all time because its "senior circle" is niche and homogeneous (i.e. mostly white, although as far as i can tell the demographics are shifting) enough that they all know each other and so are intimately keyed in to each others' drama but they're also all researching one of the most fraught continents on the planet, in terms of its relationship to archaeology, so it's a real coin-toss as to whether your scandal-per-topic is going to be "mcintosh divorce arc" or "the oxford radiocarbon lab used to date things for the illegal antiques trade for money"
