i do not trust people who shop at shein i'm sorry like there's no excuse for it. i can understand amazon, i can understand a lot of fast fashion, but shein is uniquely awful. and their clothes fall apart in a week so you can't even keep them and mend them. "but i'm poor" okay and you don't need to buy from shein about it. "they sell shirts for $3" so does michael's check ur local craft store and make a design urself if u want. you cannot seriously tell me that you had no other option other than shein

etoiles who tries to be patient and tries to be kind and tries to help bad in his state of memory loss and confusion after purgatory, but still can’t help be suspicious of him. who works around how well he knows bad, because he knows bad is a liar, but he doesn’t say as much he just quietly puts in his own tests and precautions to gauge properly what level of fucked bad’s head is. who won’t stop reminding him of purgatory. does he remember the eggs? does he remember his home? does he remember how he slaughtered his friends ruthlessly over and over and over again? does he remember jaiden? charlie? does he remember how defenseless etoiles was when he stabbed him in the back? etoiles who knows how bad feels just by body language, who used to have the upmost respect and trust for his friend, his ally, his brother in arms - now holds him at arms length even at his most vulnerable.

something about etoiles asking what bad is hungry for, offering to fight (wanting to fight, now that the ground is even, now that he’s not defenseless, after bad had killed him when he was), and bad going “fight? why would I fight you, I thought we were friends?” and all etoiles can do is scoff. something about how even the most honorable and most patient have limits. something about how the consequences for bads actions - to himself and to others - are all finally compounding. how etoiles and bad’s relationship is forever changed by what happened in purgatory, and etoiles may still extend his hand to help him, give him strategies to remember things, but he’s doing so with a bitterness and a resentment.

things won’t be the same. things will never be the same. and the way etoiles can’t help bad without being sharp and angry about it proves this. because two weeks ago bad was family - and now, at bads worst, his most afflicted, most vulnerable, sure etoiles still offers help, and is more level headed than most about it, but he is in no means gentle or kind. he doesn’t want to help him. and that says everything.

#idk man. etoiles reaction not being ‘oh poor bad’ but being startled and then ‘oh of fucking course he’d just forget everything’ is telling #like we knew purgatory wasn’t gonna be forgotten. especially between red and bad specifically. but for it to show through etoiles first #to see etoiles genuinely bitter and resentful and taking no stock nor trust in what bad is saying or showing. yeah. Yeah #like. etoiles helping. he still cares a little. he’s not gonna leave bad to fend for himself he’s gonna help because that’s what he does he #helps #but it’s like. etoiles is saving him with a resentment because he knows bad wouldn’t do the same #(as far as he’s concerned at least. from what purgatory has shown him at least)#or not saving so much as helping to correct my phrasing a little bit jfjskfkrk #idk the fact that it’s etoiles out of everyone back so far. the fact that it’s etoiles and bads relationship that’s in shambles #out of all the friendships and mutual trust and respect and love #like. yeah. yeah. purgatory won’t just be forgotten. as much as bad has forgotten no one else will forget #mcyt #qsmp #q!etoiles #q!bbh #z speaks

My main part-time job is as a tutor for high schoolers and usually we get a little "Interests" summary from their parents before we start and uh. the trends in what interests they list are SO funny. Why are all these 7th graders into coding? Why is your 17 year old into stock trading? I am biased because I think anyone who says they WANT to major in Business is lying but why is this 16 year old's hobby "reading about economics." Why is this 8th grader into entrepreneurship? WHO is the 16 year old into AI and fantasy football? I hate to say it but the kids may not in fact be alright.

#when I was in 12th grade my interests were: reading. writing. complaining. maybe Model UN #but maybe that's a sign of my agéd existence. I probably would've been into coding if that was a thing back then #but also these are written by their parents so of course they want to make their kid sound super cool and grown-up #nobody ever lists video games which is my biggest tell for parent interference. I know those guys are out there making torture chambers in #roblox. as is their god-given right. but it's not as cool as stock trading i guess #it's all real life

Roxas: Had the Halloween town kids throw bombs in his face for multiple missions in a row before finally breaking down and smacking them around a bit.

Ventus: The dwarves were rude and refused to talk to him, immediately resorted to chasing them down and whacking them.

Characterization I see frequently: Ah, yes, Roxas is the one always willing to throw hands and Ventus is a smol sunshine boy.

#kh #kingdom hearts #these are really silly examples but the point stands!#in fact I think it expands when you look at their full screen-time #I am once again begging people to watch a full let's play of Days #don't get me wrong Ventus IS brightness and sunshine #but he also has the energy of a chihuahua ready to fight the world and I will stand by that #where as Roxas will tend to just try to avoid it until he Very Much Can't #now I think Roxas does BITTERNESS better than Ventus or Sora #but bitterness is not temper #in fact bitterness is usually negative emotions left on the backburner until the resentment caves in on itself #I suppose this is up to interpretation but from my reading...#a lot of times Ventus seems to burn out his anger then let it go #whereas Roxas doesn't do anything with the emotions until he/the situation self-destructs catastrophically so it ends up being nastier #but on the day-to-day?#yeah no Ventus is going to be the one reacting first #you can also exchange Sora for Ventus for some of these arguments #though I think he lands somewhere between Ventus and Roxas for short-temperedness #all this is more complicated than this reductive commentary of course #you have to take in how and in what orders the characters were introduced and marketed #the difficulty of getting the handheld games historically and the biases that set in before they were easily accessed #not to mention stock archetypes for fandom joke set-ups that then perpetuate the characterization...#like there's a LOT to how this came to be #but it Gets To Me sometimes #yza talks about a thing

In the wake of the IA situation, I've seen a lot more posts circulating about using your local library and I just. Sigh

#i dont know whether these people are thinking of Big City libraries #or their local is the most well stocked most accommodating library known to man #but my library consists of mostly kids books and ww2 skinned romance lites and james patterson thrillers #if youre lucky theres some pop history books on the tiny shelf in the back #oh also the opening times? 0930 to 1700 of course. yknow. when most ppl are at work :)#oh except sunday. when were just closed ;)#trying to get the library to bring in a specific book? sorry that'll be nine months and we'll send it to the library #in booksbury-upon-tyne which will cost you a £30 round train ticket (if the trains are running ;)) and a three hour journey #(cause were swr and life is a fucking nightmare)#im not doing that for a book im not even sure will be relevant to what im looking for yknow #i guess what im saying is that while i love the concept of libraries #they havent really evolved with the times. theyve been what theyve been for a millenia #and the intellectual value they were built to provide hasnt kept up with the funds theyre actually allocated #now i will say these are kinda complaints specific to me cause im not the biggest fiction reader #and if i am theyre mainly classics so my gripe is more with the proviso of non fiction books #and the variety of them which is incredibly narrow #and i dont drive so the intersection of this with the hellscape that is south englands public transport network also sucks dick and balls #like i realise the library provides a lot of necessary resources for older people and kids and those without internet access etc.#but that does leave a large swathe of people with little to no reason or time to visit the library yknow.#i dont blame the library workers of course but i also dont think its the visitors (customers?) fault #that there isnt a great incentive for them to visit #especially since i have found most of my fave nonfiction books in second hand stores #which would have either cost £80 new or would have been locked ina university library out of reach of the common folk #whatever. ramble ramble yada yada. ev complains again whats new

i will be totally honest with y’all i can’t see Hobie (ATSV) in a romantic relationship ever. like, i can’t see him seeing anybody ever as “the one” or even having multiple partners or anything. I can barely see him having friends outside of the ones he already has. I can somewhat see the “are we dating or are we not dating” thing being something he gets involved in, but not really. i think a lot of people either don’t know or just forget that he’s probably homeless and that his world is shit rn and that stuff he needs isn’t easy to come by 😭😭 and a lot of homeless people just don’t have time/energy for shit like romantic relationships and the stuff he’s doing canonically because they’re so focused on trying to survive. That’s why when I make posts about him casually flirting or whatever it’s never serious, it never goes anywhere, because honestly! Between music shows, trying to find your next meal, fighting the power, trying to find a shelter for the night, helping other homeless people and others in need as both a civilian and Spider-Man, dealing with dimensional threats, trying to find a place to get clean, i just don’t think Hobie has time to even consider it. Sure, maybe there are facilities in the HQ to make it easier, but after that stunt, i think he’d avoid using them as much as possible. do you see what i mean??
