Ghost of the Sea

"THE PHANTOM BEAST!?" was an outraged cry that shook the whole city of Titanica, "How dare she have the audacity to rise up from the depths of her hell, to challenge me!? The Great Mighty Titan!?"
"W-We weren't sure if it was her..." X-20 fumbled his fingers. The Aquaphibians who were accompanying him looked shell shocked from the ordeal.
"No! It was definitely her! Teufel sensed her terrible presence when it happened!" Pointed out Titan, his eyes staring at the aquarium where his 'God of the Sea' swam with great unease.
X-20 gulped at the confirmation.
For many Marine years since she have left her mark of her wrath, many underwater races made prophecies of the Phantom Beast's potential return, all of them shrouded with uncertainty and fear.
And no one, aside from those wretched Pacificans, dared to utter a word about her since then.
The question is... Why had she decided to return now? Thought the surface agent, Did something disturbed her from her deep slumber? Was she after... Stingray?
"X-20!" a yell from his master startled him out of his thoughts.
"Yes, oh Great Titan?" he replied with readiness.
"What happened to Troy Tempest?" Titan demanded, his eyes had a slither of hope.
"He and his crew managed to escape unharmed."
"What!? Didn't the Phantom Beast damaged their precious Stingray!? I thought she supposed to finish them off!" The King of the Sea growled in shock annoyance.
"We could never explain who's she's after, oh Mighty Titan. She's as unpredictable as the sea itself," X-20 quickly explained.
Titan smacked his fist on the manchette of his throne, then got up and begrudgingly walked towards the big circled window showing the outside.
As he did, he dismissed the Aquaphibian soldiers, which they bowed and left the throne room, leaving him and his surface agent on their own.
X-20 turned to look at Teufel again. The surface agent had never seen the Sea God very stressed before. Seeing that made him feel a cold chill running down his spine.
"M-Maybe, we should stay away... for your safety, your Majesty," he warned. He nearly shook at the mere thought of meeting the foul beast again.
Titan, his face still staring at the window, muttered with venom, "I'll never forgive her for what she had done to my precious pet..."
X-20 had to withhold a sigh.
"Ah, I remember. Back when she first began her rampage, you have unleashed one of your elite sea giants to destroy her, only for it to return badly burnt and some of its arms cut clean. Now, it had been hiding in its cave since then." He raised an eyebrow.
"Yes! I'm glad you remembered, X-20!" Exclaimed the King of the Sea, "And now that she have returned after so many long Marine years, this will be my opportunity to exact my revenge!"
X-20 turned to Teufel once more with a deadpanned expression and quietly let out a nervous chuckle, "Hehe... We're gonna die..."

When did cobra Kai truly lost the ball with the writing?
The easy answer must be after the school fight. Season 2 was the peak but the school fight made things so much more serious and cult-ish that dealing with bullying, and family cycles was not important enough to put on the ten episode schedule.
But truth is season 3 for me gave us so many good plots, and character development and growths. Season 3 is when I finally start liking Sam, even if she still makes stupid mistakes this is the season she leaves behind her childhood and is heading towards adulthood for me.
Then we have Cobra Keene.
This show couldn't finish before Robby joined cobra Kai, and the fact his father wasn't there yet again is almost poetic.
Johnny losing the dojo once and for all and trying to create something new and his (even with a name as ridiculous as eagle fang) was beautiful.
Hawk's plot in season 3 must be the highlight of the season. The kid who doesn't have parallels to the movies gets the sickest plotline he could get. We see him go fully dark, and make even Kreese flinch.
So season 3 is not the point where they lose control. Is it when Silver comes along?
Again no.
For me this show's main focus was to show that nothing is black and white, but there are grey areas. Johnny wasn't the villain. He made stupid mistakes.
Bringing back Silver, and the whole arc of the cobra husbands in season 4 could just be the redemption arc of John Kreese.
Maybe Kreese was the bad guy, but he doesn't have to be anymore. By breaking the cycle of violence with Tory at the all valley he could jump start his redemption arc.
For me they lost the ball at season 5. They forget what the core of this tv series is and they introduce world domination by cobra Kai...
The show about kids being bullied and finding their strength in karate is now a show about a karate cult taking over million of teenage minds...
Miguel (the main character in case you forgot cuz I did) has for some reason gone on a solo trip to find his father with zero leads... And then we see zero personality for him.
Hawk who is the champion and has just finished a beautiful arc is now nerfed.
Tory Nichols is carrying this season on her back. And Kreese's redemption is thrown in the non- recyclables.
What would I do differently?
Keep the Kreese in prison stuff and focus on him actually having a breakthrough with the doctor. Have him care about Tory at her visits and tell her to put herself first before the sekai taikai.
Scratch the whole Mexico storyline and focus on Robby, Johnny and Miguel building bridges by doing fun stuff like Johnny and Robby did in Mexico.
Have the Larusso focus on a legal fight with Silver until they realize what happened with Stingray.
GIVE SAM A PROPER STORYLINE. This girl has the same storyline in s4,5&6 and it's finding herself away and through karate. The most interesting thing that has happened to her besides Tory is now Axel. In season 4 we slightly saw her cobra side. Let her embrace that? Or idk give her another hobby, another friend. Make her get a job. Give this girl something to do so she can find herself.
Hawk in the first episodes of season 5 was showing great promise. They could develop this side of his character. He could become the protector of the geeks, he could choose to not have another mohawk.
Here's an idea, give Hawk and Sam a shared storyline.
Show us the friendships beside the main ones. For example in season 2 Demetri, Sam and Robby spent all their time together, in season 5 they don't even acknowledge that they train for the same dojo.
I'd still bring in Devon and make her a cobra. Her bond with Tory is the best thing to come out of season 5 probably. Oh well... besides protect the egg.
Have big Red crack a joke with a main character.
Get rid of Silver once and for all, give Kreese his freedom but he stays away from karate.
Because Sam embraces cobra Kai's style so we'll, Daniel is forced to realize and admit that cobra Kai has good versions and since all the bad guys are gone, Johnny takes over once again.
Stingray takes over the younglings class.
There's an adult class and Stingray makes appropriate friends.
Bert stays his ride or die.
Honestly cobra Kai's last season should be 5. They should tie all the loose ends, somehow bring to life a last big fight and leave everyone at a better place from where we found them.
#cobra kai#this is just a big rant#i used to think these writers were genius#at least we get cool fights now#tory nichols you'll always be famous#if things happened how i said we'd never know yoon#OR if they wanted to be risky they could introduce Samtory#first yap of 2025

Clément once wrote an application for one of those TV property shows as a silly joke, knowing full well that in reality they had neither the money nor the bizarre job apparently required to get on the show. It had been a bit of a creative writing experiment, absolutely never intended to be sent anywhere, especially not the property show's applicant page. However, one unlocked computer and a bit of a misunderstanding with a visiting cousin later resulted in the application being sent to the show's inbox, for real. Clément could only hope that it would clearly come across as too daft, and be promptly ignored.
They'd claimed to be a Chief Stingray Wellbeing Officer (read: owns an annual pass for the local aquarium), and was apparently looking for a place with their twin brother, who had gone for Professional Historical Cheese Preservationist (read: found a long-forgotten block of cheddar at the back of the fridge) as his strange employment of choice. The pair of them would require space for a 250,000 litre fish tank (for the stingrays), a temperature-controlled vault (for the cheese) and at least nine bedrooms (honestly just for the laughs). Most importantly, it had to be situated no more than five minutes from a city centre (for any further would clearly be unreasonable).
Unfortunately, the application was not ignored and the hiring agent who responded to their application was extremely enthusiastic about getting them on the show. Her sheer relief at finally finding someone who actually fit the brief to star in an episode was all too evident, and to make matters worse, said hiring agent happened to live in the same neighbourhood and had been incredibly keen on popping over for a chat about the producer's plans for them. She'd even drafted a meeting date for the diary, much to Clément's terribly guilty horror.
Clément may have considered actually moving house to get out of that one, but settled on letting the agent down very, very gently as that (unlike the nine bedroom mansion) was a little more within budget.
#sims#sims 2#the sims 2#ts2#the same joke premise in my more than one post? it's more likely than you think

Cliff Emmich in the 1970s (3 of 3 sets)
In the above photo, Cliff Emmich plays a ruthless kidnapper named Moo-Moo in Starsky and Hutch, episode 2;15, entitled The Psychic in 1977.
Cliff Emmich guest-stars in 1977 episode 2;1 of Charlie's Angels, entitled Angels in Paradise, set in Hawaii. This is Cheryl Ladd's first show. Cliff plays other guest-star, Art Metrano's henchman.
This photo is from the 1978 film Stingray. I know little about it, other than it stars Robert Mitchum's son Chris Mitchum and Cliff played one of the people after the Corvette Stingray.
Here is Cliff Emmich in Barracuda in 1978. I featured this one before, but I added a couple of photos.
Here is Cliff Emmich in episode 5;4 of Little House on the Prairie in 1978. It featured this one before too. I do appreciate when my favorite actors appear as guest stars on TV dramas because TV back then was less concerned about the art of film. They concentrated on the telling a story, not camera angles and shadows. This one was a tear-jerker and Cliff got plenty of close-ups. Tears up again. It may be me and my age, but today's CGI enhanced programs make acting and directing less impressive because I know they can CGI anything they want in the editting room.

The rescue came swiftly. After the divers attached Stingray to a big crane boat, they lifted the damaged strike vessel up to the surface and brought her and her crew all the way back to the safety of Marineville base.
Though, after a throughout examination, the crew was faced with some awful news.
"A month to fix!?" cried Troy in disbelief.
"Yes, Captain." Shore confirmed, holding the report papers, "It seemed that whatever Stingray had her underbelly scraped on caused some significant damage to her circuitry and her ballasts."
The Captain let out a silent sigh of disappointment. That means they'll be out of action for a little while. And good heavens, he prayed that Titan, any fishman or madman with an ego the size of Neptune doesn't strike at this moment.
"Gee... Talk about a really tough skinned creature to cause such damage to our Stingray," Phones scratched his head with a somber look.
"Tough-skinned?" The commander frowned. "Look at those big fissure marks, man!"
Commander Shore pulled out a detailed photo of said marks of the strike vessel's underbelly, with the sea weed covered metal plates that was used to seal them off removed.
The marks were huge, scrapped across the belly in a slightly diagonal direction. The pair of hydrofoil also had being damaged, one from where the marks started and one where the marks ended. It looked like as if a giant cat had scratched her badly.
"How big was that 'Ghost Creature', again?" Shore asked.
"Commander, that thing was massive! Twice the size of Stingray!" Troy raised his arms to emphasize the scale. "And she was pretty fast too!"
"Did you see what it looked like?"
"We have no idea. All we saw was its silhouette and her ghost lights in the dust cloud, sir." The young Captain concluded.
Shore laid the papers on the front of his Hoverchair and began traversing across the control room with a focused look.
"Big. Tough. Fast. Stealthy. Can glow like an angel fish. Have razor blades for a spine... And powerful enough to tear a Terror Fish into bits without breaking a fin..." He muttered to himself.
Meanwhile, the Stingray crew watched with a little concern. Including the Control Tower operators, Fisher and Shore's daugther, Atlanta.
"Troy, do you believe that this 'Ghost Creature' is no ordinary animal?" asked the red-headed lady.
"I doubt it is, honey. It seemed a bit too humanly intelligent, even for a whale," Troy replied.
"What do you mean, 'humanly intelligent'?" Fisher raised a thick brow.
The captain pulled the old gas torch from a bag and placed it on the table.
"You don't see a big scary creature go over to you and pass you this old treasure everyday," Troy said.
Atlanta took the old welding device and examined it with Fisher. The tool was nearly burnt out of its necessary gases, according to the meter. So it was a little lighter than it was. Despite looking rusty for its age, it was still functional and had done its purpose.
"That thing's pretty old! Like... A 'century and a half ago' old!" Fisher exclaimed.
"Yeah, we thought so too!" Phones joined in.
"Mind you, it dropped to us with the old rusty metal plates," added the Stingray Captain. "Which makes me think that the 'Creature' was smart enough to know their purpose for our situation. Isn't that right Marina?
Marina, who stood between Phones and Atlanta, nodded with a confident smile.
"That means the thing we're after is mostly likely isn't a living creature at all."
Everyone immediately turned to their commander as he approached them.
"What do you mean, Commander?" Troy raised a brow.
"Look, no animal on Earth was capable to damage or destroy heavily armored ships with such force!" Began the commander, "And have such intelligence to follow Stingray undetected and pulling things like this out of its ass!" he pointed at the old gas torch, as if it was the clincher to his argument.
"Father, language please," Atlanta gave him a tired look.
Shore raised a hand in protest, "Pardon my French," then he continued, "Now, here's the plan: once Stingray is fully repaired, we'll go back to find it again. And see what this 'Ghost Creature' really is. Understand?"
"Understood!" Everyone said in unison.
After getting a dismissed order, the crew went back on their usual duties, with Troy and Phones hoping that their beloved Stingray gets fixed soon.
~~~
In the darkness of the night, away from the lights of Marineville, rose a giant shadow from the sea. Breaking the surface, it began to move slowly parallel to the Californian shores.
Unseen and undetected, it watched the base where Stingray was kept.
It may not know how long its little sister and her crew would return, but it could wait... for a very long time.
Attention Supermarionation fans! There is currently a FREE exhibition run by the Fanderson society showcasing puppets, toys, art, comics and more at The Hub at St Mary's, Lichfield.
The exhibition is open Tuesday - Friday (9:30am - 4pm) and Saturday (9:30 - 3pm) until 2nd November 2024.
It's a very small exhibition (literally just a corner in a community centre above a public library, so not really worth coming a long way especially for) but if you happen to be in the area I'd say it's definitely worth checking out! There are lots of items on display - mainly commercially available toys, but also some replica and original puppets and artwork. It was really sweet to hear people reminiscing about the shows and pointing out which of the toys they owned when they were kids. There's also a free quiz and colouring pages available for children.
For anyone not able to visit the exhibition, I've done my best to take photos of everything there. I've sorted them into the posts linked below:
• Behind the scenes production photos
• TV Century 21 comics & posters
• Japanese Thunderbirds merchandise
• Thunderbirds puppets and toys
• Fireball XL5 & Stingray
• Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons
• Joe 90 & The Secret Service
• Supermarionation vehicles
THUNDERBIRDS Christmas
Thunderbirds is a British science fiction television series created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson, filmed by their production company AP Films (APF) and distributed by ITC Entertainment. It was made between 1964 and 1966 using a form of electronic marionette puppetry (dubbed "Supermarionation") combined with scale model special effects sequences. Two series, totalling thirty-two 50-minute episodes, were filmed; production ended with the completion of the sixth episode of the second series after Lew Grade, the Andersons' financial backer, failed in his bid to sell the programme to American network television.
Set in the 2060s, Thunderbirds is a follow-up to the earlier Supermarionation productions Four Feather Falls, Supercar, Fireball XL5 and Stingray. It follows the exploits of International Rescue, a life-saving organisation equipped with technologically advanced land, sea, air and space rescue craft; these are headed by a fleet of five vehicles named the Thunderbirds and launched from the organisation's secret base of operations in the Pacific Ocean. The main characters are ex-astronaut Jeff Tracy, leader of International Rescue, and his five adult sons, who pilot the Thunderbird machines.
Thunderbirds debuted in September 1965 on the ITV network. The series was exported to around 30 countries during the 1960s. Alongside tie-in merchandise, the series was followed by two feature films– Thunderbirds Are Go and Thunderbird 6. Widely regarded as the Andersons' most popular and commercially successful series, Thunderbirds has been praised for its special effects (directed by Derek Meddings) and musical score (composed by Barry Gray). It is also remembered for its title sequence, which begins with an oft-quoted countdown by Jeff Tracy voice actor Peter Dyneley: "5, 4, 3, 2, 1: Thunderbirds Are Go!" Periodically repeated, it was adapted for radio in the 1990s and has influenced many TV programmes and other media. It was followed by an anime adaptation, a mime theatre show, a live-action film and a computer-animated remake series; additionally, three new episodes, based on tie-in audio plays and made using the same techniques as the original series, were created.
Hope this is to your liking!! Sorry, I went a little religious-related on this one, we don’t know if you guys are comfortable with that, but the Judgement card had all of that rapture symbolism, so it kind of snowballed from there. On a punnier note, a possible aesthetic to go along with this would be Coffinwood. Anyways, hope you enjoy! -🦋🔮
For the Ask Thing, simply because we talked about it today, Cobra Kai please!
also @pigtailedgirl
oh how the mighty have fallen.......
my favorite female character ok in cobra kai (vs miyagi-verse generally) my favourite female character is tory nichols. absolute shocker (generally it's kumiko). she's literally given a whole arc that is soooooooo deserving of better trappings, but i will take it! she shines in this whole affair, she's brash, she's angry, she's definitely a lesbian! i thank cobra kai for giving me tory nichols. honestly, i thank cobra kai for giving me many women i can gnaw on, even though it's all just scraps. it's fine, we'll take it from here!
my favorite male character i think it was as-of s5 i kinda went "alright shockingly i am more interested in the teenagers than the adults officially in this show" and then i got halfway through this sentence and remembered john kreese. unhinged mf'er, the worst man in the world, would be a fantastic exploration of every worst american nationalist hyper-masculine impulse with a fascinating queer undertone, and... that's what he is actually, don't even come at me (i say like i'm not in the unhinged old men fandom) but of the kids, miguel. miguel needs to be saved from this narrative. miguel has nothing good to learn from these people. miguel is daniel larusso's successor in that he's put in these fucking Situations because of other peoples fucking business, and he did have some beautiful growth in terms of almost almost being lured into all of it, but then he got himself out. literally do not think johnny has taught him a single valuable life lesson. not a one. miguel. i see you (if it were all of miyagi-verse, then miyagi!)
my favorite book/season/etc s1-3. you understand. (hon mention to every silver scene in s4 though, silver you keep me coming back and idk whether to hate you or love you for that)
my favorite episode (if its a tv show) lol, s4ep1. tsilver intro episode. also, finale s2, the last time i could accept these bonkers fights happening in the story
my favorite cast member my beautiful marty kooooooooooveeeeeeee (obvs) and mary mouser, every little punky Look of hers is Iconique
my favorite ship as a usually bringing an aroace vibe to the party that fandom doesn't appreciate, this is my big exception. everyone is gay and alloromantic and allosexual is2g (i kid, there are some absolutely Amazing aro and/or ace reads and fics out there!) gonna give this one to sam/tory and every girl they pulled into their Nonsense. also aisha/the girl in this one fic @mimsyaf wrote in which aisha is Out (as in Out of the karate drama and also Out as a lesbian and Out of the narrative having lesbian sex. this too could be you if you got Out). sam. i know you're butch. i know it. sam, pspspspspsss sam listen! hon mention to kreese/silver. most awful men in the world ❤
a character I’d die defending miguel! sam! daniel! listen, in this fandom, we're all defending someone aren't we, and i respect all of said defences. kenny and shawn payne deserve more screentime, esp in which they're not treated abominably, miguel deserves to have more focused narrative and not have his thematic identity as Literally The Next Karate Kid From Day One distorted, robby.... oh robby..... goodness gracious robby...... you know. if you're in this fandom, you know!!! and of course, the larussos, the eternally Wrong Gender Performers according to straight men across the world. i see you (i also See You 👀 in a gay way) and johnny... i know what the point was with you. i will fistfight the writers for that one. i know this isn't you johnny 😭😭😭
a character I just can’t sympathize with stingray. sry. the actor seemed lovely. and i did kinda like that he ended up slightly (slightly) more serious, but. it should have been a Warning when he was more than in a couple of episodes i also don't hate yasmin and moon, but i think everything interesting about them is fanon
a character I grew to love youknow, i really like the characters of this show? genuinely the thing that keeps me coming back is wanting better narrative for them, because they're actually Interesting (except for above) there's so much in all of the mains that deserves 10000 fics (esp fix-its) not because they're bad, but because things keep getting presented that are Interesting and then dropped immediately. so yeah. i was into them all pretty much from the start
my anti otp lol is there a straight pairing that works in this????? other than amanda/daniel (but you know how bisexual that is)
