#♦️charlie's art#epithet erased#sylvie ashling#sylvester ashling#i actually love trying to draw him in the epithet artstyle (key word trying i still need to practice)#the second one was kinda based on the sylvie from my pfp#third one was kinda based on an older portrait style sketch where he's doing rui's brand new world pose you know the one#i also just wanted to let him look kinda cool and mysterious. god i need better adjectives#fourth one i thought 'serious sylvie crying sprite' and blacked out and this appeared on my canvas#you may notice hes trying to wipe his tears over his glasses. this was just the pose i thought of and halfway through sketching i forgot#that his eyes arent attached to his glasses and just went with it anyway because i liked the idea thar hes less trying to wipe his tears and#more trying to hide his face#also he might just be stupid

The man truly can’t take a genuine compliment 🙄
#my art stuff#digital art#baldur's gate 3#bg3#astarion#astarion ancunin#this is part of a series I like to call “I’m never settling on a singular detailed artstyle”#I have no consistency in drawing realistic people/characters other than my shapy cartoon style#but I truly don’t get enough opportunity to properly shade anything with art in that style-!!! it always looks weird to me-!!!!!#I think some rude lil worm in my brain is wriggling around telling me it’s a futile attempt at still doing realism#cus I’m one of those “gifted” artists that grew up promising his parents he’ll end up among the big names or whatever#constantly training to become better at art but with realism oil paintings as the goal#you know how it is 😔#I wanna shade my lil funky designs but they never feel good enough to really put energy into or whatever so I compromise with stuff -#- like this where I try to draw characters more accurately while still stylizing them and shading them however I feel like it#which is great and all but I should really learn to give my more relaxed and less perfectionist art a chance#I deserve to enjoy the process and the result without working myself dead#it’s so much easier and rewarding to copy cartoon styles - stylizing realism makes me too anxious of doing it “wrong”#at least cartoon styles give me a goal to reach or a reference to strive towards#man I really should just cut myself some slack altogether#either way - this man is a flustered mess and he’s embarrassed about being called adorable in public or something#being teased in an affectionate way about his sweeter side and stuff#don’t ask why he’s shirtless - anatomy is just a lot more fun for me to draw sometimes#tasteful nudity and all that is extremely gorgeous to me#i need to practice anatomy more cus I just kinda did some shit and went with it this time with a BIT of consideration for muscle structure

speedpaints fascinate as much as they disturb me, bc its such a treat to watch skill like that being executed, but i swear to god theyll put down a random beige colour, then three strokes later its the most intricate skin detail youve ever seen. what the fuck is up with that?
#charlie.txt#its not just bc its been sped up#like legit youll look at someones skin colour work and its just three shades slapped on top of each other but they manage to make it not#look flat.#how. literally how.#like i dont think im a master artist by any means but i think im pretty okay and yet thats still like wizardry to me#it frustrates me that there seems to be smth abt art that they get that i just fundamentally cant#and like. half of my problem is that im comparing my artstyle to a complete different artstyle#im very. bold lines. bold colours. for the most part.#and then ill look at someone doing a digital painting like. why mine not do that???#and its like. well. thats not what you were trying to achieve buddy.#but STILL it irks me that i COULDNT if i TRIED#if any of you say practice ill hunt you for sport

— masterlist !
amazing art made by @questionthegrapevine. i'm posting it through my account rather than reblogging so you can gain more traction! hope u don't mind ^^ !
Transcript from original posts read: This is my oc for again & again by @.acid-ixx
I honestly did this to experiment art styles (and the series has me in a choke hold but let's ignore that-)
His name is either Ethan or Emile (dead name Emily so Emile became a choice). He likes wearing red Because blood brings comfort :D. He only wears the jacket because he didn't wanna worry Alfred (Alfred knows anyway)
I would've tried more but this was just experimentation so... yay (You can tell I truly gave up when I was drawing the jacket)
(Btw the shirt says "your mother" in auslan, courtesy of a friend)
Second Picture: I practiced facial expressions with my boy! I'm not very good at expressions. Or keeping a consistent artstyle... Eh.
You can tell I got lazier in the second row. I still haven't actually decided a name for him. I'm also working on another artwork (one where I actually try) but I need the author of again&again to answer my ask. If he doesn't, I'll just wing it (That's a pun but it doesn't make sense until I actually post the artwork). I hope I don't lose my sanity with the next one!
tysm for sending this in... i love it and the design!!! you should be an animator since the artstyle reminds me so much of my adventures with superman! he's so absolutely gorgeous, so baby and this is one of the few masc representing mc portrayals i've received and he's absolutely gorgeous!!! i feel like, through my soul, his name would be emile. it just reminds me of me being filipino idk... also, the your mother joke shirt design makes me want to cry comedically because if the mc actually moved on from losing their mother, the next best thing they'll do to cope is through your mom jokes and that's what your portrayal perfectly defines! 😭
again, ilyy for sending this in! and sorry for the late reply :(( this was buried in my notifications and i only found it when i dug through it... argh he's very handsome and i love the ftm portrayal of my mc! makes the angst even worse because they only know you through your dead name and that's only if and only if they actually know what your dead name is...

Oh my GOD YOU LIKE LOZ LU AND???? JJBA NO WAY DUDE ME TOO THATZ LIKE EPIC OH MY GOOOD
(but if you take drawing requests can you do Twi comforting wars, idk man I just love them)
Step 1 to comfort Wars: Make him realise he's being an idiot
He's about to meet Hylia. (He's very stubborn I just know it xd)
Just kidding xd Here's the real one
I tried a cold atmosphere with too much blue so you can feel sadness but at the same time, calm.
And the version without color
I was about to tell you that I'm not doing requests right now but I don't have homework or exams and I have worked a lot in the drawings I have to do (and others I want to do) so I told myself that why not? xd
Besides I love Wars - Twilight relationship. For me because of Time they are uncle and nephew and being both Time's hands they often have to comfort/help each other.
And YES I love both LOZ/LU and JJBA, In fact I have noticed that a lot of people that likes LOZ likes JJBA (and vice versa). In fact I think both are similar so it's common that people that likes one likes the other.
But even if you notice (or at least I try to xd) my artstyle is a mix between LOZ and JJBA art style.
And if you were wondering (or not) my favourite Zelda games (from my most favourite to the least) are Twilight Princess (my favourite game ever), Majora's Mask and Tears of the Kingdom. But my favourite Link is Time without a doubt.
And for JJBA my favourite part is Stardust Crusaders (right now I'm reading a fan manga from the artist @/therealsnipster on instagram about Jotaro and Polnareff on their travels searching for the arrows), then I can't decide so Vento Aureo and Stone Ocean have the second place and then there is Phantom Blood. And Jonathan is my favourite Jojo.
Thank you so much for your ask and request!! :D
It was fun and it helped me notice I still need to practice some poses xdxd
EDIT: I gave it the vhs effects, I think it looks better.

Hello! I just wanted to say that I love your art, especially your Sea Grunks art. It genuinely warms my heart, and reminds me a lot of me and my own sibling. :) I'm a Tumblr newbie but i've been in the Gravity Falls fandom for a long time, and have come across your artwork more than once- and it's finally nice to be able to put a face to your amazing artwork!! (or a username, I guess?) I was just wondering how you went about getting to know and mastering the Gravity Falls artstyle? Your art is simultaneously stylized and show accurate- and i'm in awe every time I see it. If you've already answered this, sorry! Have a great rest of your day!!
Thank you so much! :D
It's just all practice really. Way back when I first started making fanart, I was very much set on: "I have to replicate the show's style almost exact." I still have that issue where I feel I have to perfect and replicate anything but I'm trying to dial that down. And as time went on, I saw others drawing similarly in the style as well but added their own flair to it and so I slowly started to gain inspiration from any artist's work I really liked to look at and incorporate it into my own. I went through a lot of style differences but I will say currently is where I'm really liking my art the most.
Instinct, my big comic project, is a very good example of the evolution of my art style journey I guess you could say. It's always a nice reminder as well of how much I've improved over the years.
#ask#londontragedies#i've been thinking about redrawing my very first comic for the fandom#because oh wow it's been a while since that one and the redraw like 4? years ago

I love your artstyle!! Do you have any tips for drawing?
thank you so much! i'm really happy you like it!!💗 as for tips, what i would say would change drastically depending on what kind you're looking for, but some very general ones:
draw what you love and want to see most, regardless of whether anyone else wants to see it. if you don't enjoy what you're drawing it'll never come out as good or genuine as something your whole heart and soul is in. i mean you'd think this would be a no-brainer but sometimes i've had to sit back and ask myself 'if no one was ever going to see this except me, would i actually spend time drawing this?' and i was surprised by the answer
that said, it is also completely valid if your motivation for drawing is to draw for other people! there have been plenty of times where i was too artblocked to draw my own ideas but was still able to draw commissions or gifts and enjoyed it simply because making other people happy with my art makes me happy.
don't get too caught up in having a consistent art style. in my experience this 1000% hinders you
having your sense of anatomy degrade over time without you noticing because you keep drawing the same types of characters is a very real thing! if this is a concern to you be sure to draw a variety
follow a billion artists that you like the art of and you will have endless inspiration injected directly into your brain every time you open social media
my favourite practical tip for those who draw at a desk: keep a small mirror next to you at all times. absolute game changer for quickly referencing hands
if you're drawing digitally, make the canvas huge! in my experience this lets you draw messier/faster and you can't tell at all when you zoom out. if you tend to get stuck spending unnecessary amounts of time micromanaging pixels (me💀) keep it zoomed out while drawing
related to the above point, messy drawings can have far more expressiveness in them than neat and polished drawings. nowadays i never do lineart and go straight from 'barebones stickman pose' to 'varying-levels-of-coherent sketch' and use that as my lineart. sweet freedom from the sketch-looks-better-than-the-lineart phenomenon
if your goal is to improve, then you really do have to scrutinize your art, figure out what you're not satisfied with, and commit the time to focusing on it. 'practice makes perfect' kinda rubs me the wrong way because of how much i've seen it interpreted as 'just draw everyday and you'll magically improve' but genuinely it won't get you very far if you don't actively think hard about what you're trying to improve and take the steps to do it. is this a hot take idk. also hand in hand with this, not every artist is trying to improve and you shouldn't feel bad for this! maybe you just wanna make a little headshot doodle of your fave blorbo and that's your only drawing goal ever. awesome. maybe you know your art has flaws but it's passable enough to convey what you want and you're perfectly satisfied with that. (this is the stage i'm usually at). also awesome!
don't hesitate to draw something because you think it's out of your skill level. the worst that can happen if you draw it is that it comes out terribly but you learned something and can always redraw it better in the future. the worst that WILL happen if you don't draw it is that you'll never draw it. and then it will sit in the back of your brain haunting you for years. it's not like i'm speaking from experience or anything aha
look up 'hand stretches for artists' and do them if you draw a lot unless you wish to summon the wrath of the carpal tunnel demons
of course, these may not necessarily work for you, and most importantly(!) these are coming from the perspective of someone who is primarily a hobbyist. some of this won't be practical for people who need to build an audience, maintain a consistent style for work, etc. these are just things that have personally helped me over many years of drawing :)

The trend of "my artstyle seems to disappear when I do drawovers/redraws" continues. Like, more of it's here. But still looks off lol
Anyways I saw a random tiktok screenshot and immediately thought "Persona 3 protags", but I haven't drawn Kotone yet, so you only get Yuki
The original had her holding something, but I took an opportunity to try and practice more Koro. He reads more Husky here, gotta work at proportions more so he stays a Shibe lol
Also you can't tell me Yuki's profile pic wouldn't be some aesthetic night sky photo. That boy is a photography nerd at heart

i kind of dont want to ruin the surprise but also i wanted to share this little project im working on.. more under the cut!
first of all i dont know why the colors look so dull on mobile, they look perfectly fine on my pc :,) ill fix that when im done with the entire thing LOL
this said, the pic i posted may look like a simple silvio drawn in twisted wonderland style... and that's half-right! what im actually working on is a rig of this model, my first rig ever :) ive always wanted to try my hand at rigging, and now that im on break from uni i actually found the time and motivation to try it out. i decided to go w the twst style because due to practical reasons (a huge variety of assets to directly learn from) i thought it'd be easier for me, though i'll find out the truth of this decision in a few days when i'll finish the drawing part and actually start rigging.. ahahah....💀
anyway... if my rig ends up being terrible, it'll never truly see the light of the day here on tumblr, so feel free expect things but please keep the bar in hell and dont be too disappointed if there wont be any live2d of the model posted.. (though i'll still post the entire sprite for you all to see since i spent so much time working on it anyway).
this said, for now, i dont plan on making this a series... if i do other models in the future they probably wont be ikeseries related. its a project that is extremely time consuming, and silvio is the only character i love enough to endure all this pain for ahah🧍♀️ (though jude and victor would be an option if it wasnt for both their hair and me struggling to make jude look like himself when not drawn in the series' artstyle, sigh)

Remember! Save Early, Save Often, (and use save states)
So you know how two comics ago I mentioned how it was cursed because Krita kept crashing and being all weird? After that I got this little mantra stuck in my head "Save Early, Save Often, (and use save states)" and I knew I just had to draw something and who better than Mr. Save State himself? This was also done traditionally first (I was away from my computer) which is why it is 1) crunchier than normal and 2) More 'high quality' than normal. I am one of those people who have a different artstyle for everything and the Hyrule on the bottom is more like my "real" artstyle (I say "real" because between school, comics and all my splatoon fanart I haven't made a full piece with this artstyle in a year. haha) but I was trying to reference the lu comic artstlye to get that darned hair under control. I think it looks ok and pretty close to the canon style and also like my "real" style :) You can see the scanned traditional version in the last photo included(I basically never color my traditional art. Thats why I am so horrible at coloring). Speaking of coloring I couldn't decide which version I liked the most so you get 3 versions. I think the blue + full color was too color-ful though.
I did Hyrule instead of og Link because I was trying to practice Hyrule's hair because I haven't been satisfied with how I've been drawing it. Will probably still make some changes but I think it's looking a bit better. I might remake this with og Link later though (but Idk I don't like drawing things twice. Which is somewhat ironic because of the comic thing).

Finally finished artwork gift for my friend @jayjay667! It took a bit too long, because of my lazy ass and other stuff happening in life. But it was satisfying to draw our humanized Herculeses regardless. And her design and style are great, although I'm not the best at trying to capturing them. I doubt that I will post art regularly, although I never did regularly post anything tbh. But I'm thinking of improving my art skills, artstyle etc. and practice for a while (I'm not sure if I'll want to do anything else, like translation of episodes). And I'm still thinking of human designs for TUGS characters, if not redesigns (I tried to draw my Hercules with outfit inspired by us navy winter uniform, and give vitiligo which is invisible here now oof-) Also I decided to add watermark for changed nickname, cause why not?
And here's black and white version, like the photo!

how did you get so good at a anatomy? like what practices helped you improve the most if you remember?
-from a new artist desperately in need of help
This is the first I’ve heard a comment on my anatomy, especially as someone who hasn’t quite grasped the whole thing haha. But I’m happy I’ve reached a point where it’s considered good. Bodies are hard and they suck but here’s some stuff I do/used to do to help.
1) Don’t avoid it. You can’t, it’s impossible. After years of only drawing 2/3 facing busts as soon as I forced myself to start drawing full bodies, I was able to create more interesting compositions and expressions. Even if it looks awful, you have to keep working at it. I myself can’t figure out a lot of poses and have to work around what I dislike.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/9fd8dcc812955036cba56409a7b0596c/f6777893e4a0c11e-b3/s540x810/68b5e114bfe8e82ac7e6290529041a9c73ea3f69.jpg)
2) Study in parts. When I did anatomy studies I always focused on one or two parts at a time. For example, I spent a lot of time studying legs and made a bunch of art that either required or focused on legs. Same went for faces, hips, and even clothes. Eventually it becomes habit and I could switch to a new part.
3) Reference. Reference. Reference. Unless you have the most vivid imagination and can put mind to canvas, please use a reference. I still use references for poses I think I can draw just in case there is a more sensible or more interesting way of depicting it. This also precedes the idea of tracing. It’s a bit controversial, but I promise you tracing is more common in the art industry than you think. It’s about muscle memory and visualization more than just “copying” a piece of work. I started art traditionally so could never use tracing to practice, but if you use digital I highly recommend tracing as way to practice anatomy. However it’s only really useful if you do it with intent, studying how all parts connect to the trunk (torso).
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/d47d9cfcaae0fdb6c49b5ad8f88afc62/f6777893e4a0c11e-a9/s540x810/18c6c076e977543e129234d4fd5b492041942970.jpg)
4) Lastly, it’s ok to start with a simple artstyle at first! It’s totally cool to build upon the basics instead of running straight toward hyperrealism. Plus it’s cute!
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2ee8374691391ee976e6ccf1197d3a2d/f6777893e4a0c11e-c3/s540x810/ba84e475b416685e54f3de2c05c745abd8f93c85.jpg)
That’s all I have for now since I’m still trying to figure it out myself, but I hope this kinda helps!

TheFamousFilms Doodles!
It has been quite a while since the last TFF post, hasn't it?
Aha. Ha. My bad. I've been focusing on posting stuff for another fandom because there's literally nothing there. Practically nothing. But I'd digress. This is a TFF post.
And its still about Bryan. Yeah. Not really confident drawing the others. Still trying to find an artstyle for the animatronics because I'm still not happy with how I draw them so no animatronics anytime soon.
Have some not daijobu Bryan though. He is not having a good time.
He has a ponytail :D
Still playing around with his design. I wanna change it up because he looks a bit plain aside from the mask but I feel like post apocalyptic clothing with the tank top and cargo pants is stuck. If there are any suggestions, feel free to tell me. I need new ideas.
His eyes kinda looks like Dylan so I gotta change that a bit but the goal is to make his eyes a gold amber-ish color because of reasons.
Trying to write ITH rn. I have an idea for chapter 3 but I haven't gone to actually writing it so maybe its not going so well. I'll get around it, eventually.
ITH is supposed to be me just having fun and making them do stupid stuff because I miss the old cast with a tiny hint of lore. So yeah. Having fun? Gonna take a long long while.
#thefamousfilms#bryan#as always#amber eyes#purple eyes#the perpetual star necklace#freddy mask#not-daijobu Bryan#i need new ideas for his design pla#but tank tops and cargo pants are gonna do for now#ponytail :DDDD#the spots on his arms are supposed to be burns because you cant tell me he got out unscathed from End Game

If your OC wasn't bound by societal conventions or uniforms, what sort of outfits would they wear?
You'll have to excuse me for sitting on this one for a few days. I was originally gathering all of the inspiration I'd taken for Enclave's outfits, but instead I'm just going to talk about the design thoughts I have behind her clothing choices plain text.
To give a short and sweet answer, what Enclave is wearing at the starting point of her main design is what she is most comfortable wearing.
So, the thing about Enclave specifically is that I'm purposefully designing her clothing to sort of evolve with her in the timeline of her life. When she's in the underdark, I try to find clothing and styles that read both as being more stiff/angular, confining, and elegant. There's a little more intentional adornment to the things happening in her design (Even if my own artstyle tends to lean upon the simplistic) Likewise, there's more intentional color happening. Granted, it IS lolth. So that color still ends up being navy's, pale blues, and reds. However, the color is there.
(However, some things about these already betray her preference for the pragmatic rather early. Her hair sticks ARE actually weapons, and the legs of the accessory she wears could make for rather convenient lockpicks, no?)
However, within the modern era, I try and aim for clothing that reads as practical and pragmatic over stylish. This also includes her armor, which is far less stiff (Albeit at the same time, not offering much in the way of actual protection despite covering more skin.)
I've made public jokes about her needing to pick more colors, but I'm doing something intentional with the coloring of what she wears. If she's in grey-scale, she's in a place she's comfortable in. She's at her least comfortable as a Priestess of Lolth - However, her assassins armor from that era has same color pallet as some of her future outfits. If she'd gotten the chance to stay strictly as an assassin, would she have remained loyal to lolth?
In my heart, Enclave as a character is actually an incredibly introverted person who does not like having the limelight placed on her. In the underdark, she was forced into positions where she had to keep eyes on her to survive, and the discomfort of that survival mode is what lead her to questioning a lot of what she was experiencing. Of course, she was smart enough not to voice these doubts explicitly.
(It's also not entirely accidental that the styles that she ends up more comfortable in read as a more masculine at a glance. I have wider thoughts about the underdark and how lolths bias towards effeminacy might effect the popular styles of both genders there but - a story for another day.)
As a post-script, this is also true of her personality as well. There's something to be said about the fact that she's explicitly more vulnerable and forward about her actual personality in the era where she's wearing a physical mask, lmao. But that is, in itself, also a ramble for another day.
#enclave#It is not her gods mask that is the symbolic 'mask'#but rather the clothing and attire she adorns herself with#If she's wearing all black she's not wearing a mask. That's a part of her at her most comfortable#Original Character#design thoughts#ironically she's not actually that modest of a character either#She'll go around shirt off scars be damned#But the styles that make her comfortable are more covering by nature of what they are#Deconstruction
