S.E.E.S. Doing the Fuuka Face

Wanted to challenge myself over the winter break by drawing the S.E.E.S. cast all doing their own rendition of the iconic 'Fuuka Face' :D It was a fun challenge to keep her iconic expression while still keeping it personalized to each member. Ex. Junpei looking a bit stupid, Makoto looks neutral but has the tiniest hint of disappointment in his eyes, and Shinji can't even look at you.

summary: shinjiro and you find yourselves tangled up in koromaru's leash, leading to an (not so) accidental kiss…

accidents could happen to anyone. but none of this was an accident, nor a coincidence.

“how come everyone but us got sick? shouldn't we have caught a cold too, if we're around them all the time…?”

shinjiro had the same thought as you, but you were the one that dared to say it out loud. there was something weird about the entirety of S.E.E.S. getting sick, except the two of you. even aigis was out of business, leaving shinjiro and you as the only two who could look after koromaru now.

“there's no way they're all sick…”

shinjiro mumbled under his breath. he stared forward, watching koromaru run through the living room and bark happily, while he was lost in thought.

“i think… they're just sick of having to do so much work around the house. so now they all decided to fake a sickness…”

you silently nodded. it was the only thing that made sense to you. even if it was out of character for them to all lie like this. sure, junpei regularly tried to get out of work by faking sickness. but someone like mitsuru or aigis? that was certainly odd.

“either way… it's not too bad, right? having to take care of koromaru isn't really work!”

as koromaru heard you say his name, he stopped and tilted his head, his tongue hanging out and he seemed to be smiling at you. you smiled back, unaware that seeing your little interaction with the dog brought a small smile to shinjiro's lips as well.

“maybe we should take him for a walk! he seems more restless than usual today…”

koromaru barked in response, almost as if he wanted to agree with shinjiro. that little guy was smarter than most dogs and he seemed to understand very well what was going around him.

“come here, boy!”

shinjiro knelt down and tapped the ground, causing koromaru to come running up to him, happily jumping at shinjiro and barking.

“can you grab his leash?”

shinjiro patted koromaru's head, as he looked up at you with a smile. you quickly nodded and went to grab the leash, before handing it to shinjiro.

as shinjiro locked the leash with koromaru's collar, you held the dog in place. he seemed so eager at the idea of walk with the two of you, that he couldn't stand still.

“there we go!”

shinjiro and you were both still kneeling, when you let go of koromaru. but just as the two of you wanted to get up again, koromaru seemed to have a sudden burst of energy. and before you knew it, he started running around the two of you, wrapping you up in his leash.

“h-hey, hold! koromaru–!”

shinjiro remained a firm grip on the leash, in case koromaru tried to run off. but that only resulted in the two of you being caught within the leash, as koromaru showed no signs of stopping.

“w-wait, let me help you…”

shinjiro and you were pressed against each other, with very little room to move. both of your faces were red and shinjiro tried to avoid eye contact, as he attempted to untangle you from the leash.

but just when it seemed like he had figured out how to get you out of this mess, koromaru started running. and once again, the two of you were pulled closer together. only this time, it wasn't just your bodies pressed against each other, but your lips as well.

“woof–! woof–!”

koromaru had stopped, as soon as the two of you kissed. he happily barked and finally sat down, his tongue hanging out, as he seemed to smile at you. almost as if he had just been waiting for this to happen…

the kiss lasted longer than necessary. especially given it was supposed to be just an accident. but after a few moments, shinjiro and you pulled away from each other – at least as far away as you could, while still being tied together by koromaru's leash.

“s-sorry, i–”

“it was an accident–!”

both of you blurted out at once, blushing furiously. but both of you knew it wasn't just an accident. the first few seconds were an accident. anything after that was just the two of you wanting to prolong the kiss.

“y-yeah… an accident!”

shinjiro and you awkwardly stared at each other for a moment, unable to get away from each other. just when you both slowly leaned in again, you heard voices from upstairs.

“is everything alright here~?”

it was akihiko, who tried to hide an amused smile, when he spotted shinjiro and you wrapped together in koromaru's leash.

“do you need a hand~?”

you nodded embarrassed and akihiko walked over, helping untangle the two of you. shinjiro and you lingered close to each other for another moment, after akihiko had finally removed the leash, before both taking a step back.

“what are you even doing here? didn't you say you were sick!?”

shinjiro was a bit on edge after that kiss. he tried to hide how flustered he still was, by immediately confronting akihiko about his seemingly made up sickness.

“oh, that? well, i feel a lot better now! must've been just some morning sickness!”

“mh, right…”

shinjiro glared at akihiko, skeptical of what he was saying. truly, he didn't believe a word. but he didn't want to start arguing now.

“anyways…” akihiko smiled. “if you want, i can take koromaru on a walk now! i figured the two of you might want to do other things…”

shinjiro and you both froze up. had akihiko seen the kiss? did he see the first one? or had he noticed the two of you leaning in? if he noticed, then surely…

shinjiro's eyes met yours. the same thoughts seemed to run through your head, as you stared at each other. even akihiko noticed it and grinned amused, as he took koromaru's leash from shinjiro's hands.

“we'll be going then! have fun, you two!”

and with that said, akihiko left the dorms, leaving you alone with shinjiro…

after closing the door behind him, akihiko roamed through his pockets, looking for something, as he tried to listen in on you and shinjiro for a bit. he could very well imagine what the two of you were talking about in there…

“here, for you~!”

eventually, akihiko pulled some dog treats out of his pockets, kneeling down to reward koromaru.

“you were a good boy, koromaru! playing your part just like we practiced~!”
