AU where steve and eddie exist in the old west. steve is the local sheriff and eddie owns a tavern well-known to fugitives and outlaws alike: the silver dollar.
eddie’s got a beer mug in each hand and he’s headed towards the end of the bar to a couple of patrons.
“jim, i’ll be with you as soon as i get these two outlaws taken care of!”
he’s met with raucous laughter and the tip of a cowboy hat just before the doors of the silver dollar swing open with a clatter.
“WILDER!”
sheriff harrington pulls his gun and with a wicked one-two pull shoots both mugs straight out of eddie’s hands, beer splashing to the floor and all over eddie’s boots.
eddie glances up towards wyatt and shrugs.
“i’ll owe ya a beer when steve’s done with you, i guess.”
he spins on his heel to face the door where the sheriff still stands with his gun drawn and eyebrows pulled angry.
“harrington! i swear to god! what did i say about shootin’ in my bar?”
steve has the nerve to look a little shy as he reholsters his weapon and makes to get wyatt in cuffs.
“apologies mr. munson. i’ll get ya’ some new mugs.”
he smirks and huffs a laugh.
“damn right you will. that’s the fourth time you’ve pulled this shit.”
steve yanks wyatt up by the shoulder and he grunts as the cuffs dig into his skin.
“maybe quit serving violent fugitives and i’d quit shootin’,” he says with an eyebrow raised.
eddie smirks back at him and starts pouring another glass for timothy, since his drink was lost to steve’s bullet also.
“no you won’t. see you next time, sheriff.”
steve shoves wyatt out into the street and tips his hat back towards eddie.
“next time.”
he’ll see him at home.

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Tonight was the night—you were certain.
Tonight you’d worn your best clothes and redone your makeup twice. You prepared to drink until you were drunk of sorrow or happiness, one of the two.
“You’re not allowed to say that.” Robin chided over the phone as you walked to the bar and roll your eyes, “Think positive! He’s your friend, if he doesn’t return your feelings, how mean could he be about it?”
“I know he won’t be mean, Rob, he’s perfect!” You whine. “If he’s gonna let me down I know he’d do it in the sweetest most earth shattering way.” You watched the sidewalk pass beneath your feet and tried not to imagine the look of disappointment on his face.
“I have it on good authority that people can still be friends even after one rejects the other! Just look at me and Steve. We’ve been sailing this platonic love boat for years now! His dorky love confession is just a blip in the past now—“
“Whoa, wait, my love confession was not dorky—“ You hear Steve in the background and roll your eyes as you come to a stop before the sticker covered door that you’d grown quite fond of, this being Eddie’s favorite spot.
“Alrighty, Rob. I’m here.” You mumble and lean against the building.
Robin gasps, “Okayloveyou, call me after please, byeeeeee!” She almost sings as you end the call.
You take a deep breath and pull the door open. You’re so distracted looking for Eddie that you nearly blow right by the bouncer, sat at his laptop watching Lord of the Rings as he checked IDs.
You roll your eyes as he shoots you a questioning look, comparing your birthdate to your face before handing it back to you. You mumble a thanks and let your eyes scan the seats along the bar, where Eddie always sat.
You wondered if you beat him here for once, if you could be the one with two drinks waiting in front of you to be shared when he sat down like he’d always had with you.
You wonder if he’ll compliment your outfit, if he’ll even notice it. He typically always had a little compliment at the ready for you, about your hair or perfume, simple words that made you wanna shudder and savor the feeling forever.
A group of people grabbing drinks from the bartender caught your attention. They laughed merrily with each other and grabbed two tall glasses each to take to their awaiting table of friends, but when they moved, they also revealed a scene you never wanted to see; Eddie sat at the bar, and a gorgeous girl in your spot next to him.
Your heart ached and sank in your body, the beating of it suddenly so powerful it thudded in your chest. You wanted to swallow the lump in your throat, but your mouth was so dry you couldn’t, it just added to the sandpaper feeling prickling all the way down.
You wanted to cry at the way Eddie’s shoulders shook with a chuckle, facing the wall of bottles while she faced him, leaning closer on her hand and letting her ample cleavage show. She wore a red dress, one you wouldn’t even dream of wearing. Her lips were painted the same color and her eyes were lined with black so thick it reminded you of the music videos that sometimes played at the music store Eddie worked at.
She was perfect. And you suddenly felt as if you were not.
You feel someone bump into your shoulder and realize you were standing in the middle of traffic, grabbing a place at the bar with shaking hands, on the other side of three large old men that frequented the bar too.
Your mind was reeling and spinning without any alcohol to fuel it, so you opted for a water to collect yourself. When the bartender sat the tall glass in front of you, you take three big gulps of it and then some deep breaths. “Just go on over there, honey.” A gruff voice said.
“Yeah, that’s your spot!” Another said.
You turn to the right to see the old men looking at you, their leather vests, fading tattoos, and bald heads usually intimidating you, but when you saw them now, looking at you, you only saw concern in their eyes. You shake your head, “I don’t know what you mean.”
The men chuckle kindly, “Sweetheart, we know that’s your boy over there. And that broad has been buggin him for the last ten minutes about buying her drinks.”
Your brows push together and you lean over to view the two down on the other side of the man that spoke to you. Eddie had a tense smile, one he used when he didn’t wanna be rude.
“He could be nervous. She’s awfully pretty,” You think.
Another one of the men notice the skeptical look on your face, “He’s here to see you, ain’t he?” He asks incredulously through his thick mustache.
You shrug and nod, “We come here every week. W-We’re just friends though, so I should leave him alone.”
The men chuckle again before the third one pipes up, “Uh-uh! We gotta pool goin on how long it’ll take you guys to kiss. Poor boy always looks like he’s gonna make a move and doesn’t.” He rolled his eyes and his friends agreed.
Your jaw dropped, amusement on your face, “He does not!” You quietly chide before sneaking another glance at Eddie’s almost cowering figure as he kept his body facing straight, barely turning his head to respond to the girl.
“Between you and me,” the man closest to her almost mumbled, “if y’all kiss after this week, I lose—so it’s now or never.” He tsked and took a swig of his bottled bud light. You blush crimson and close your eyes. “If you go over there and plant one on loverboy, I’ll give you $50.” He held out his hand for you to shake.
You try not to chuckle when you notice these old men have you almost convinced. You take a deep breath and shake his hand, “I have to right now?” You ask.
“You just have to go over there right now, okay? And if it don’t work out, you gotta seat right back over here.” He nodded and gave you a firm pat on the back that almost knocked you over as you picked up or water and climbed off the stool. As you pass by them, you hear their rumbling cheers while they no doubt watch you.
You keep stepping towards where Eddie and the girl sat, Eddie’s hair practically a curtain between himself and her.
“You’re just shy, aren’t you?” She purred when you got close enough. She reached out to stroke Eddie’s hand that rested on the counter only for him to drag it away into his pocket.
“Nah, no, I-I’m typically not.” He said with a dry chuckle.
The girl tsked and leaned forward as you stepped up right behind her, still undetected, “Aww, so you just act this way for little ole me? All cute and shy?” She flattered herself and giggled in a way that you figured was supposed to be alluring.
As Eddie turns his head to face her, you step over next to him and put a hand on his shoulder, “Actually I think you just make him uncomfortable.” You remark, as you look her over and school your face to look unimpressed with the girl before you, as if you hadn’t envied her at first sight.
You look at Eddie, who stared at you with brown eyes wide with awe. Your lips twitch when they attempt to smile at the two waiting glasses in front of him, sips yet to be taken. “Can I have my seat or do I need to sit in his lap for you to understand?” You look back at her coldly.
She scoffs and looks between you two as she stands with her purse and returns to her table of friends in the corner.
You exhale deeply and look over at your biker friends who had heard the whole exchange. They raised their newest glasses to you and drank with hearty laughter.
“Friends of yours?” He asks with a uneasy chuckle, checking out the old men skeptically before he spotted their patches and smiled.
You shrug, “New friends.”
He nodded. You lingered by Eddie, your hand still on his shoulder before you move to sit in your spot, “My lap, huh?” He chuckled, amused and impressed at your display of courage he’d never seen before.
You plop down, the seat pleasantly warm from the bitch that previously occupied it. “Yeah, sorry about that, you just seemed…” you shook your head as he nodded gently.
“Thank you.” He looked you over, his eyes growing large again when they paused at your chest. “You look… fantastic, wow.” He says with a dumbstruck smile as he took you in again.
You chuckle and shake your head, “Oh, this old thing. Just threw it on, y’know, but, uh, I’m-I’m glad you like it!” You smile at him, feeling the difference in the air between you tonight. It felt good. Full of possibility.
Eddie clears his throat and slides your drink over to you. “A toast— to my best friend;” he started as you lift your glass with a quirked brow, “The bravest, wittiest ….” He hesitated, peering into your eyes, “…prettiest girl I know.” He nodded as he finished.
“Here, here!” The familiar gruff voices echoed behind you in agreement, lifting their shots before throwing them back. You guys chuckle and sip your beers, your nose wrinkling at the first taste as you usually did.
Eddie chuckled at you as you set the glass down, foam on your upper lip. “What?”
“You got a little…” he pointed at your mouth, but didn’t give you a chance to clean it yourself, bringing his thumb up to wipe it off with one gentle swipe. “There… much better.” He said softly, his face inches from yours. His touch sending pins and needles where he touched. He’d never touched your face before—not to mention your lips.
You look down and blush, finding your knees between his and his body leaned close to yours. He looked so much more like himself now, that ornery glint in his eye, his boyish smile that always said ‘trouble’ when he flashed one your way.
You watch his ringed hand rest on your knee, stroking in loving circles before you look up at him, his gaze more serious, yet not stone. Something else was hidden in the look he gave you, something that felt familiar to you.
He whispers your name, “—Tell me something.”
You cock your head and give him a single nod, “What’s to tell?”
He scoffs and rolls his eyes before taking a drink, “S’gonna be like that, huh?” He looks at you again, playful smile on display as he leans closer to you again.
“Like what?” You chuckle, enjoying this game. Eddie rolls his eyes with a smile and goes to turn back forward when you catch his knee, “No, no,” you pat him before turning him to you by the knee in your grip, Eddie’s gaze darkening as his eyes flicked back up to yours. “No need for that.”
You go to withdrawal your hand, but he catches it., “Were you jealous?” He asked, his hand stop yours.
You can’t help but balk, your mouth opening and eyes widening before you can pinch your brows together and shake your head, “N-No,” you find yourself in the lie, “I just—“ you shrug, finding his eyes on yours expectantly, obviously working hard to keep his mouth straight and resisting the smile that threatened to curl up at the corners.
“Just?” He prodded.
“Like—ugh, the way she was touching you. And looking at you—”
“And… that’s not jealous?” He broke a little, one side of his smile lifting as he bit the other cheek.
Your cheeks blossom into magenta, your avoidant smile rising up on your face as you grab your drink as a buffer, not daring to move your other hand from his grasp. Eddie watches you as you gulp the brew and set down the glass, wiping your mouth with the back of your hand.
“Okay, maybe a little..” you shrug before looking up at him from under your lashes, your eyes darting back down when you saw his smirk.
Oh, great. It’s a joke to him.
“But if it was a guy, okay,” you start, “And if I was you, and I was looking the same way you did, you’d do the same thing, wouldn’t you?” You shrug in question. “You’d wanna protect me from an unwelcome conversation, right?”
Eddie nodded, “Yeah, absolutely.”
“See?” You go to move your hand from his, turning to face the bar when he catches you again.
“To protect you, yes.” He said, hidden urgency in his eyes as he squeezed your hand gently, “—But also because I’d be jealous.” He smiles at your hesitance to believe him as you gently shake your head in disbelief.
“So.. now would be a good time to tell you about my feelings?” You ask quietly.
“Feelings?” He asks in feigned incredulity. You fight the blooming smile as he teases you. “Feelings about what?” He mocks you at your own game.
You roll your eyes and push at his chest, smiling when he caught your wrist and released your other, turning his hand to face palm up, his fingers lingering on yours in the hope you’d wind your fingers through his.
And you do, just as he’s begun stroking his thumb over your hand, the one he caught on his heart.
“Tell me.” He says just above a whisper despite the chaotic barroom.
You nod, “I… I like you. A lot. An embarrassing amount, actually— since the day we met.” You stumble, looking down at the rings on his hands you’d never brought yourself to play with, though you thought about it a lot.
You’d never held hands like this before, always sure to stay in your own bubbles. But tonight, everything was different, and you both knew it wouldn’t ever be the same.
“I was hoping you’d say that.” He said casually.
You look up at him in surprise, to find him leaning forward and releasing your hand to hold you steady as he pressed a kiss to your lips. Your eyes melt closed and you kiss him back, not shying away from the urge to touch his face and neck.
You barely hear the cheers behind you until Eddie breaks the kiss to glance at your friends a few seats down the bar. You turn shyly to find them paying their tabs and handing cash to the man that convinced you to come over here in the first place.
He saunters over to you, cap on his head and a new dip in his mouth, the lump bulging beneath his bottom lip. “Here ya go, darlin, take your new boyfriend out on a date.” He dropped a fifty in front of you and shoved his winnings away in his pocket.
Your jaw drops and you go to hand it back to him, “Sir, I can’t take this—“
“The hell you can’t!” He said as his friends joined him, one of them taking his free hand. “I’m $200 richer because of you, let me share the wealth!”
“Gary, you leave them alone.” The man chided. “Congratulations, you two,” he said when he turned to you, “Seeing you guys here these last few months had us thinking about our old times—Gary and I have been coming here with our friends since ‘82.” He beamed at his partner and it was only then you noticed the pride flag patch, beneath the Satyrs Motorcycle Club emblem, along with a BACA patch to boot.
You smiled warmly as Eddie took your hand again and swiftly pocketed the $50 for you. “Well, we owe you fellas drinks the next time we meet!” Eddie said.
You smile at his heart and nod in agreement, “Thank you, so much.” You smile at Gary who nodded.
“We wish y’all the best—treat her right, pretty boy, she knows where to find me.” He pointed a thick callused finger in his direction with a teasing wink and a final pat on the back as they departed, hearing the unmistakeable revving of their friends preparing to leave.
Eddie looked back at you as you sighed, the tension from the last couple weeks finally falling away with each careful stroke of his thumb over your hand.
I could get used to this, you think.
“So…” Eddie said, in the way he always did when he had a new plan of action, “How about… we blow this popsicle stand, grab some food and then.. maybe spend the night at yours.” He said, looking down at your hands as he spoke, the way he did when he was shy.
You smile and think about the advantages you have now that your best friend might just be your boyfriend, how well you know each other already. How easy this felt since you said the words that felt like wire bristles coming out of your throat.
“Spend the night?” You ask with a hand pressed to your chest. Eddie blushes as he meets your eye, not bothering to clarify the sentiment of spending the evening at your place like you’d done plenty of times before.
But never spending the night.
You bit your lip before letting it slip out of your teeth, “You wanna?” You ask quietly.
His eyes shift again, that darkness taking over again as his mischief fell and lust took hold of him. He nodded.
“And before our first date!” You say in a theatrical gasp that had him giggling and shaking his head before taking a drink.
“We don’t have to if you don’t want to—“
“Who said that?” You scoff, taking a sip of the water you brought over with you as Eddie chuckled into his now free hands, shaking his head and groaning, “you’re unbelievable.”
“I bet it won’t be the last time you say that tonight.” You say daringly.
Eddie’s mouth drops open before he lurches off his stool to pay your tabs. As he stands in line his gaze keeps drifting back to you, knowing you’re watching him with a coy smile he’d never gotten to see before now. He figures now you must’ve been too nervous and it makes him chuckle as he looks you over again.
You notice this and shoot him a look, narrowed eyes and a suspicious smirk, only able to guess what he’s thinking about you.
Your eyes shift behind him to find the girl from earlier still sitting in the corner, her eyes on you with curiosity. You wonder if she saw your kiss, or how Eddie held your hands. Before you can think too much about it, Eddie’s obstructing your view as he approaches and holds out his hand for you, something else he hadn’t done before.
You take it gratefully and smile as you fix your purse. You step forward and feel his hand at your lower back, almost bringing you to your knees at first. You gathered yourself quickly and smiled when you saw his hand shoot out from behind you to grab the door, ushering you through into the warm night air.
His hand slips into yours and he pulls you closer to him. His smile is set on you and he wraps his arms around you, staring at you for just a minute.
“Thanks for my drink.” You smile, finding a hand on his chest and the other stroking the column of his neck.
He chuckles, “Of course. More than happy to cover my girl’s drinks.”
“Ooh, your girl.” You sing teasingly.
You feel him stroking your back at the edge of your shirt where a sliver of skin was exposed. “Yeah. Unless your mind has changed about me in the last five minutes—“
You’re quick to cut him off with a shake of your head and a “Mm-mm, nope!” That sends him smiling wider as he pulls you over to his car.
“You didn’t drive, did you?” He asks as you approach the Kia. You shake your head again and catch his smirk.
“You dirty dog.” He tsks and puts his hand against the passenger door you leaned against.
“What??” You ask through a giggle.
“You came here with a plan didn’t you!” He leaned in close, til his nose brushed yours and you could smell the alcohol on his breath. You thought he was going to kiss you before he pulled back and appraised you. “What—plan A I’m your ride, plan B, you Uber?” He asks.
You nod.
“I’d never let you get into an Uber.” He scoffs and opens the door for you, guiding your body around the door and into the car.
He watches you buckle up, and waits patiently til you look up at him in question, wondering if he asked something you didn’t hear.
“What?” You ask softly, trying not to melt at the way he looked at you.
He shakes his head gently, “Nothin,” he leans closer to you, “Just… glad I don’t have to pretend anymore. Feels nice.” He smiles again. You nod in agreement. “Plus I need a kiss from my girlfriend if she wants a ride home.” He pauses right in front of your lips waiting to you to close the rest of the distance.
“Is that how it’s gonna be, Munson?” You ask.
He nods, “Oh, yeah, I’m capitalizing on it. I’ll do anything for you if it means I get a kiss.” He looks down to your lips and back up again.
You smile and push your lips to his, with more fervor than you did in the bar, his lips warmer and wetter than before. Eddie practically drops to his knees to keep the kiss going, internally debating on climbing inside the car this way until—
“Excuse me? Excu—Excuse me!” A voice said from in front of the car. You’re the one to pull out of the kiss, Eddie following you before following your gaze and finding the girl from earlier, her friends behind her as she holds her keys in her hand, “Can I get into my car please?” She asks in uncomfortable calm.
Eddie stands up, “Oh, yeah, for sure!” He shuts your door and jogs around the front of the car without another look in her direction, scrambling inside the car and starting it just to turn to you and pull you in to continue your kiss.
You crack your eyes open to find the girl’s friends opening the back doors to her car and piling in, as she remained frozen to the spot, her mouth dropped as she watched how Eddie kissed you. You close your eyes and open your mouth just a bit more and feel Eddie’s tongue slide inside, and you hate that you hoped she saw it.
You moan into his mouth and let him explore before tangling your tongue with his. His taste was intoxicating, even after the beer. Kissing him in his car was a different feeling than kissing in the bar, this was more private—special even.
You’d spent a lot of time in the passenger seat of his car, smoking, telling secrets, singing together, crying after hard days, eating take out when neither of you feel like cooking, it was another one of the places that was special to you because it was somewhere you shared with Eddie. And now you got to share this in here too.
Eddie let out a savoring groan before parting his lips from yours. “Now that, was unbelievable.” You said as he smiled in the same goofy way he always did.
You giggle and look away as he turns up the music and put the car in reverse. “Bet it won’t be the last time you say that tonight.” He says before sticking his tongue out. You look over at him with a glimmer in your eye and a smirk that had him driving 15 over the speed limit and kissing your hand every few seconds, like he had waited for this just as long as you had.
And just in case you’re wondering—Eddie had you calling him unbelievable (and a few other things) by the end of the night.

What Are You a Cop?
Eddie is drowning his sorrows at the bar. His band didn't get the Saturday spot at 'Damsels' and when he went home to complain about it he caught his boyfriend in bed with someone else.
He feels someone come up behind him and he quickly ducks his head onto the counter, cigarette still in hand.
"Hi! Um I saw you from across the bar- can I buy you a drink?"
"Fuck off," he mumbles into his elbow.
"Are you ok?"
"Fuck off."
"You know...you shouldn't smoke in here."
That makes Eddie's head pop up off the counter. It actually pisses him off to the extreme. Straw that broke the bank etc. He acts in a flash, grabbing the closest drink to him.
"What are you? A cop?" He growls and throws the drink at the voice.
His eyes are blurry and have trouble adjusting to the light. When they do the first thing he notices is the earth-shattering beautiful man in front of him, vodka cran running down his face, and a smirk on his lips.
Wait.
Fuck
The man reaches into his pocket and pulls out a police badge.
"How'd you guess?"
"Well-" Eddie's wide eyed and stuttering. "I thought either those handcuffs in your pocket were real or you were excited to see me."
"HA! Oh that's a good one. You're gonna have to come with me."
"Shit."
-------
"Come on officer! Lemme go!!!! I'm sorry ok. I'm so sorry. I was having a crappy night and I didn't mean to take it out on you."
"Mr. Munson, you attacked a police officer, smoked a cigarette indoors, and you're too drunk for me to send home without supervision. One night in the tank is not gonna hurt you. I won't even put this on your record."
"Eddie."
"What?"
"I've heard cops say Mr. Munson enough in my life. Eddie's fine."
"Ok then Eddie, I'm Steve."
"Perfect."
Eddie rambles to Steve for hours until the alcohol starts to hit him a different way and sleep overtakes him.
---
There's a bang on the cell door and Eddie shoots up out of his slumber.
"WHUH"
"Goodmornin Eds, how many fingers am I holding up?"
"Three."
"Perfect! Let's get you home."
"You're...taking me home?"
"Well I...I want to make sure you're ok. I did enjoy spending time with you I wouldn't mind getting in an extra ten minutes." Steve smiles at him sheepishly.
A small blush grows on Eddie's face.
On the drive back Eddie becomes enamored with Steve. He loves the way he snorts when he laughs, he loves hearing him sing along to Fleetwood Mac, and he loves hearing about the kids he helps through a police program. He forgets all about his cheating boyfriend and knows Steve is all he wants. He feels devastated when the car comes to a stop.
"Well...I guess I'll see you around?"
Panic shoots through Eddie.
"Well I uh, never got that drink from you. Would you like to come in?"
Eddie will never forget the red face and glistening smile on Steve in that moment.
"How about coffee?"
"It's a date."

Just imagine Steve figuring out he's bisexual and realizing that when he dates a girl, at a certain point into dating them, he's gonna have to tell them that he's also into men. Of course since it's the 80s, the chances of them being okay with that is probably slim. They might think he's disgusting or that he's just gay playing straight.
So he tries dating guys instead, thinking that's safer. And he ends up meeting a great guy named John at a gay bar who he really likes. Things are going strong until they started talking about past crushes and first loves. Steve casually mentions celebrity crushes on women and having loved Nancy. And thus Steve gets his first ever experience of the rampant biphobia in queer spaces. John accuses Steve of being confused and trying to hold onto his "straightness". Steve tries to explain himself by saying that, no, he really does like women, but that only makes things worse. John now believes that Steve is just going to eventually leave him for a woman, if he hasn't already been cheating on him. John ends up storming out leaving Steve devastated.
He goes crying to Robin and explains what happened. He's horrified to realize that no matter who he dates, there's always going to be the risk of them not accepting him, guy or girl. But he can't hide that part of himself, it's too big. It's who he is. Robin is there to reassure him that if someone can't accept him being bi than they don't deserve him. It's able to cheer him up a little, but the damage has been done.
Steve is now very reluctant to date anyone. And if he does manage to bring himself to go on one, he gets complaints of being very emotionally distant or having a fear of commitment.
When Steve inevitably falls for Eddie, he's scared out of his mind. It's clear that Eddie is gay based on his hanky, but, again, that doesn't mean he'll accept Steve's bisexuality. One night, while the two get so high in Eddie's trailer that Steve has to stay over, they argue about sleeping arrangements. Eddie keeps insisting that Steve would probably be more comfortable with Eddie sleeping in another room for some cryptic reason and Steve, who gets incredibly clingy while high, keeps shooting back with them sharing a bed being fine. When Steve keeps asking why they can't over and over again, Eddie blurts out that it's because he's gay. Without hesitation, Steve's says he knows and points at the hanky on the dresser by the bed. Staring at Steve for a moment, Eddie then asks how he knows about the hanky code. This time Steve hesitates. For awhile. It honestly scares Eddie for a moment, thinking he's been vecnad. If Steve hadn't been high, he maybe would have been able to think of an excuse, some way to get out of this conversation, but he can't. So he admits that he likes guys.
Eddie very excitedly starts asking a bunch of questions and talking about how they finally found something they have in common, who knew? When he notices the tears in Steve's eyes, he stops, confused, and asks what's wrong. So Steve tells him. He's not like Eddie. He's bisexual. And he braces himself for the backlash. For loosing his best friend and crush.
But then he feels a hand grab his. Eddie tells him that they still have something in common because he's also bi. Steve points out that he said he was gay, though. Eddie asks if he has ever told anyone that he was bi before, specifically gay men. Steve nods. Then he asks if it went well. Steve shakes his head. Eddie tells him that's why he said that. He's explains how tiring it is to have to explain his existence to people who won't get it and/or react badly to it. So he just tells guys that he's also gay. It just makes things easier. And Steve gets it. By God, does he get it. They spend the whole night exchanging stories and experiences, for the first time able to talk freely about their love life.
And by the end of the night, they stumble over each other trying to ask the other out. They laugh and both say yes.

The One Where Steve Feels Smart
“Where are Jon and Argyle?” Steve asks Nancy. The rest of the group gathered around the table for their weekly group dinners.
“Jonathan said that he has a lot of work to do, and Argyle is working closing. Said they would try to come later if they could.” Nancy sits at the table, acting as if the information doesn’t bother her.
Steve doesn’t buy it. “I thought Argyle never closed on Fridays.”
“I don’t know,” Nancy shrugs, annoyed. “Maybe he’s covering for someone. It doesn’t matter, so just eat.”
Steve still doesn’t buy it. Jonathan will always use their hangouts as a break, so his eyes don’t try to kill him. Argyle values friendship too much to take a shift during one of their hangouts. If what Steve knew about them was right, though.
But, he decides to ignore it, and eats dinner.
The next week, however, something like this happens again. It’s not an everyday thing that the group gets together at the coffeehouse after work to talk, some can’t justify buying coffee five days a week when they can just make it themselves. But today, everyone is there. Everyone except for Jonathan and Argyle.
“Isn’t it weird that they aren’t here?” Steve asks, mainly to himself. He’s sitting at the bar, bugging Eddie while he’s on shift.
Eddie shrugs, passing a drink across the bar to a customer. “Maybe they’re busy again. Didn’t Jonathan shoot like four wedding in the past two weeks? That’s a lot of editing.”
“But he would bring it here. Especially since Argyle would get off shift,” he looks down at his watch, “an hour ago. They would come in here together and chill with the rest of us.”
“Don’t know man. Maybe they just wanted to stay at home. The weather is kind of shit today.”
It’s never stopped them before. Something else is going on.
The next time it happens, it’s on game night. He asks Nancy if she’s heard from them and gets shut down immediately. Something about the both of them needing to work. Nothing else.
When it keeps happening, Steve starts to get more and more suspicious. Everyone else seems unbothered. Blind to the excuses that mean nothing, and continue on with their lives. When Steve knows that they are hiding something.
He decides to bring it up again when him and Robin are making dinner. Trying to use both their heads to figure this out without Nancy shutting him down immediately.
“You don’t think they finally,” Steve makes a motion with his hands, indicating that they are together.
Robin glares at him from the kitchen. “Probably not, Jonathan’s demi, remember.”
“That is not what I meant,” Steve says, partially annoyed. “I just meant like, dating. What if they are dating.”
“I would hope they would tell us if that actually happened. We’ve listened to too much of their suffering to not know.”
Steve stares at the cutting board. Not so sure about that. “I think Nancy knows something.”
“Here we go,” Robin groans.
“No, Rob, seriously. Like every single time I ask, she shuts me down almost immediately. With the same excuse. Jonathan is busy editing, or has a shoot, and Argyle is working a closing shift. I’ve never known Argyle to have this many closing shifts in his life.” He turns to her, hoping to see that she sees what he sees. “Isn’t that a little weird?”
“I guess,” Robin goes back to stirring the vegetables in the saucepan. “But maybe their rent got raised and they had to pick up a few extra shifts. Wouldn’t be that surprising.”
Steve is still not convinced. “Maybe.”
A week later, the group was planning on going to see a movie. Some weird horror movie that Nancy and Eddie love, but will probably traumatize both Steve and Robin. Normally Jonathan and Argyle would come along and laugh at how unrealistic it is, but they bailed again.
They’ve been bailing for about a month now, something was definitely up.
Steve stands in line to get the popcorn, letting the rest of the group go into the theater to get their seats. Hoping that Eddie is able to save a seat next to him for Steve.
Out of the corner of his eye, Steve sees two people who look familiar. After thanking the guy behind the counter and turning toward his theater, he sees it. Jonathan and Argyle walking in with their tickets. They make eye contact with him, looking caught.
“Well, there you guys are,” Steve says, trying not to make it weird. “I feel like I haven’t seen you guys in weeks.”
“Uh, yeah,” Jonathan says. “Just been really busy with work, that’s all.”
Steve nods, going alone with the lie. “Yeah. I’m glad you guys were able to make it tonight though. Unless, you know, you came to see a different movie.”
Argyle opens his mouth, going to say something. Jonathan nudges him with his shoulder, shutting him up. Argyle presses his lips together in a forced smile. Eyes wide.
“Yeah. We were just going to get some popcorn, so why don’t you go into the theater, and we’ll meet you in there.”
The smile that forms on Steve’s lips is one of pure joy. “I don’t mind waiting. It might be easier to carry all this shit to the theater.” He takes a glace down and sees their hands clasped together. “Four hands are better that two, so.”
“Four hands?” Argyle questions under his breath.
Jonathan looks down at their hands, and pulls them apart.
“You guys weren’t going to see the same movie, were you?” Steve questions. Feeling smug.
“No, we weren’t,” Argyle blurts out. “We were going to see this comedy together because we’ve been dating for a few months now.” He immediately slams a hand over his mouth.
“A few months,” Steve says much louder than he should.
Jonathan starts looking around. “Dude, quiet down.”
“Sorry.” Steve lowers his voice to whisper shout. “A few months. I thought you were just dating for a few weeks.”
“You knew we were dating?”
Steve snorts. “You two are not as subtle as you think you are. Always missing hangouts conveniently at the same time. It’s really rude to cancel on your friends to go on dates for your secret relationship, by the way.”
“We’re sorry,” Argyle apologizes. Looking like he’s going through multiple emotions at once. “We just have been busier with work so the only times we’ve been free to go out are the days we would hang out.”
“You’re not going to tell everyone, are you?” Jonathan asks, hand rubbing at the back of his neck.
Steve shakes his head. “No, it’s your thing to tell. I wouldn’t do that. I just miss you guys. I am still going to gloat about being right, they just don’t need to know what about.”
“Thanks, dude.” Argyle finally calmed down back to one emotion.
“We really appreciate it.”
“I have to go, the movie’s about to start. Have a good night, guys.”
Steve turns and head to the theater. He finds the rest of them and sits between Eddie and Robin. The popcorn immediately getting pulled from his hands.
“What took you so long?” Robin asks over a mouthful of popcorn.
“The line was long,” Steve says. This was going to be fun.

“Good morning, Robs.” Steve nods to Robin’s sprawled figure on their couch.
“Good morning, dingus.” Robin looks up at Steve with a sleepy smile into her morning coffee.
“How was your date last night?” Steve makes a cup of coffee and walks over to the couch. He lifts Robin's legs and lays them across his lap as he settles into the worn-down furniture.
“Oh! It was so good.” Robin perks up. “God, it’s so nice to actually know other gay people in the city and have safe places to go, unlike Hawkins. Violet was so sweet, and she took us to the little lesbian bar on 4th, and we just talked and drank for hours! I felt bad at first about missing movie night with you and Eddie, but I’m sorry, babes, but it was worth it!”
Steve smiles at his platonic soulmate with as much love as he can muster. He’s so happy for her, finding herself in college, especially after the disaster that was Vickie and the post-apocalypse. Besides, he really couldn’t be mad she missed out. “I’m glad you had a good night, Birdie.”
“Steve! You have no idea! She wore this cute skirt with knee-highs, and oh god, I could see her thighs! You know how I feel about thighs.” Robin gave him a pointed look, and Steve couldn’t help but hum in agreement. Thighs were nice. “And she gave me the softest kiss while we were still inside the bar like she wasn’t embarrassed by all my rambling and thinking out loud. Which she said she thought was cute, after I said that out loud. And Steve, I need to tell you about the less soft kisses we had later, but first, I have a question.”
Steve laughed lightly at Robin's antics. She had no idea the power she had. It was hard not to fall in love with her, platonically or romantically. “Sure, Robs. Shoot.” Steve took a sip of his coffee, not thinking much of it.
Robin ever so calmly stated, “Why do you have a hickey on your neck?”
Steve choked on his coffee. He had to lean forward to stop himself from going blue. Robin pushed herself up and pats his back. Steve barely managed out a spluttered out, “What?”
Robin put down her coffee and gave him a kind but pointed look. “The giant ass hickey on your neck. When did you get that.”
“I do not have a hickey on my neck!” Steve’s voice went a pitch higher than normal, not particularly helping his case.
Robin gave him a ‘seriously’ face before she reached over and dug her fingers into the bruise on his neck.
“Owww!” Steve slapped her hand away.
“Want to explain what that is then, Steven.”
Steve scrunched his face up, “Ew, don’t call me Steven.”
“Stop avoiding the question. Why do you have a hickey? As far as I’m concerned, I’m the one who went on a date last night. You only had Eddie over for movie—“ A look of realization crossed Robin’s face before it broke out into pure glee. “No! You didn’t!”
Steve spluttered again, despite the coffee being nowhere near him. “I didn’t do anything!” He continued to deny it.
“Oh you did! You finally did! You made out with Eddie!”
Steve knew it was useless to fight her on it, but he couldn’t help it. He was stubborn. “Ssshh, nothing happened. It’s just a bruise. Stop making this bigger than it is.”
Robin cackled, “Oh Steve, I know I should be mad you’re trying to lie right now. But I can’t be; I’m just too happy. First Violet, and now this? This is the happiest, gayest day of my life!”
Steve put his head in his hands, no longer denying.
“Besides, why are you shushing me? It’s not like there is anyone else here…” Robin trailed off, and Steve could tell the moment she put it all together. If he thought she looked happy before, now she looked straight up devious. “…Oh my god! Steve! Is he in your bed? Is he naked?” Robin was shaking Steve with excitement. At this rate, he would get a concussion from his brain being smacked around his skull.
“…no.” Steve said shyly as images of the night before came to his mind.
The boring movie. Eddie’s head thrown back at Steve’s jokes. The leaning together. Eddie’s grip on Steve’s thigh. The nose brush. The crash of lips. The tearing off of clothes. The stumbling to the bedroom. The moans.
Now is not the time to get a boner. Not while his best friend is still shaking the shit out of him.
“No? Really, so if I go into your room right now, I won’t find Eddie in it?” Robin stared at him. They both got completely still. It was as if that weird telepathy thing the kids always think they have, was actually true. Because Steve can sense it. Can sense that Robin was going to make a break for the door.
She took off in a dash, but Steve was quicker. He tackles her to the ground with a loud ‘oof’. “Get off me, dingus! I need to know!”
Steve tried to pin her to the ground, but she was freakishly strong and yanked him by the hair, “No, Robin, let me have some privacy!”
They tumble around for a few minutes, yelling and scrapping at each other. Neither of them truly got the upper hand. Then suddenly, a door opens. Both Robin and Steve’s heads snap up in the direction of footsteps approaching them.
Then, in front of them, is Eddie in only boxers covered from head to thigh in hickies. “I always forget you two are morning people.” Eddie rubbed the early hours out of his eyes, leaned down to place a kiss on top of Steve’s head, and made his way into the kitchen.
A blush makes its way to Steve’s face but he knows he’s sporting a goofy smile.
“Wow, Dingus. You really marked your territory.” Robin snorts below him. Then Robin leaned over to the side to peek at Eddie’s back. “Is that hickey in the shape of a heart?!”
Steve leapt off of Robin and into the safety of the kitchen, behind the said bruised back.
“So much for soft mornings with you and Robs.” Eddie giggles into his coffee.
Steve just huffed a laugh into the crease between Eddie’s spine and shoulder.

While my shoulder has been fucked up I've been watching a lot of football AND sports commentary shows, which I have found myself enjoying??? As always, I've kept the actual sports ball details vague seeing as I barely know American sports.
Eddie walks into the living room to find Steve on his feet and standing far too close to the television. He has the phone to his ear and his shoulders are tensing.
"I cannot believe this," he says to Robin, who Eddie knows is on the other end of the line and probably just as agitated.
She must say something Steve vehemently agrees with because he nods, all stern and vibrating in agreeance. But he soon scoffs, holding the phone away as the Sportsman on the television says... Something about something baseball-related.
Steve swooshes his hand through the air in disapproval.
"Rob, are you hearing this asshole?"
The oven dings and Eddie decides to take his chances and step forward. He tip-toes quietly, making sure to keep his distance as he moves into his husband's field of vision and boy, is Steve mad about... Whatever tonight's Sports Problem is.
It's a big enough to-do that it is being discussed on (Eddie knows this much) Sportscenter.
Steve's frown deepens and his mouth down-turns to a cute – albeit grumpy – pout that has only become more accentuated with age and wrinkles.
"Dinner," Eddie mouths, adding an innocent, wiggling hand wave.
Steve props a hand on his hip and nods at him before he turns his attention back to the television. He heaves in a breath and now Eddie frowns. Because yeah, sure, Hellfire still gets his heart a-fluttering every once in a while, but these days he and the boys carry out quieter, more laid-back campaigns that would make their former selves gasp in horror.
And, Sport Problems, or not, he doesn't like the idea of Steve getting so worked up that he's wheezing.
"Rob!" Steve scolds in disbelief down the line, "What? Ugh, fine... Fine!" he looks at Eddie, "My dinner is ready too... Alright! Call me back... Mhmm," he pinches his nose, "Yes, I'll do the three-way call thing with Sinclair instead... Fine! Okay, bye."
He ends the call with a forceful pressing of the Talk/End button and murmurs to himself, practically sneering as he shoots the panel of sports commentators a look.
"Okay-p," Eddie says, clasping his hands together as he decides to charge for the remote.
He points it at the TV and gleefully reduces the group riling up his husband's undead universe-induced asthma to black nothingness.
"Calm down, Stevie-bear," he says, discarding the remote on the couch so he can rub at his back, "No more Sportscenter for now."
"But, Eddie, can you believe –"
Steve cuts himself off as Eddie loops an arm around his middle and leads him to the four-seater dining table.
"I know your hip is too bad for you to play ball these days, sweetheart, but you gotta calm down," he bargains, relieved when Steve's breathing begins to even out, "Dinner time is our quiet time."
"Yes..." Steve glances around.
Eddie narrows his eyes the moment he realises his partner has located their iPad on the breakfast bar. He tilts his head, hoping to block Steve's view of it and they soon become engaged in a silent stand-off despite standing in the middle of their living space attached at the hip, arm in arm.
It only stops when Steve purses his lips, no doubt readying himself to bring out the big guns and say something with the deadliest of bitchy lilts.
"Nope," Eddie says, chopping his hand through the air, "You're not rewatching that... play you are so cranky about on the iPad. I'm sure you are right about it anyway."
Steve says nothing. Hell, he probably saw straight through that ever-so-slightly condescending attempt at deflection. But Eddie can't bring himself to be all that worried about his tone as some very real panic sets in at the sound of the pot on the stove bubbling up a little too much.
He detaches himself from his partner, thinking that ruining dinner and taking Steve away from the television will start up a World War III, the likes of which he hasn't seen since the time he brought a stray cat into the apartment, who promptly hid in the closet and pooped in Steve's new Nikes.
"I am right," Steve says, all perky and chipper now as he pulls out a chair, "Can you, uh... Do the, uh..."
He trails off, looking at the phone's keypad and gesturing to the buttons.
Eddie reaches forward and plucks the phone from Steve's hand.
"I'll set up the three-way call for you later," he says, reading his mind. He presses a kiss to his forehead and sets the phone down on the table, "Promise."
"Lucas will be ready to talk at – "
"Eight o'clock," Eddie nods, "Just in time for the replay, I know."
He pats Steve on the shoulder with reassurance. When his husband finally takes a seat, Eddie heads off to the kitchen just in time to salvage their dinner.

“Okay, we’ve been over this,” Eddie says. “I know you value your independence, and I appreciate your commitment, but there's no shame in accepting a little help, yeah?”
“No,” Lizzie replies, swatting him off with tiny hands. “Lone.”
“But-” Eddie says, but she doesn’t listen, just continues her way up the slide with a determined frown. She looks ridiculously like Steve - from the way her chestnut hair falls into her face, all the way to the stubbornly set jaw and pouty bottom lip. Speaking of Steve …
“Stop laughing,” Eddie grouses, admitting defeat and stomping back to their park bench. “You won’t think it’s funny when she falls.”
“You worry too much,” Steve chuckles, kissing his cheek. “She's gonna be fine.”
Eddie groans. “The stubborn streak on this kid is unbelievable.”
“Yeah?” Steve shoots him a side-glance and goes back to his parenting magazine. “Sounds like someone I know.”
“Well, that’s one thing she gets from me, at least,” Eddie huffs. “I grow her in my own body, go through the absolute hell that is labor, and she pops out looking like your little clone? That's just unfair.”
Steve turns a page. “I’ve read that it’s fairly normal for them to look more like the alpha parent for the first year or two. Keeps us emotionally attached, apparently. And for the record, she gets a lot of things from you.”
“Huh,” Eddie mutters, slotting closer into his space. It’s getting chilly, but Steve always runs warm, and his sweater is fluffy and soft. “Hope she didn’t get the goldfish brain and the smart mouth. I’d like her to have an easy life.”
“Hey now. I like your mouth,” Steve smirks. Eddie slaps his arm. “And just so you know, I was talking about your determination and your passion, and your love for music, among other things. The way she goes off when you play that guitar?”
Eddie grins, even as something in his chest tugs.
“She is the best audience I’ve ever had,” he concedes. “And my metal version of Wheels on the Bus slaps, I think we can all agree there.”
They lapse into silence for a few seconds.
“Speaking of music,” Steve finally says, setting aside his magazine so that he can take Eddie’s hand. “That new bar on Lincoln’s is looking for live acts. Maybe you should-”
Eddie shakes his head. The treacherous thing in his chest twists. “Nah, Stevie, I don’t think so.”
Steve frowns. “Why not? It might be a good way for you to get back into things. You always wanted-”
“Yes,” Eddie says. “But when these places say they’re looking for music acts, they don’t mean scrawny omegas with a toddler at home.”
He stands, meaning to walk back to Lizzie, but Steve doesn’t let go of his hand. “You can’t know that unless you try. They might say yes. And I’ve no problem staying home with Liz, you know that.”
Something bittersweet and warm blooms behind Eddie’s collarbone. He sighs, sinking back onto the bench. “I know, big boy. You're brilliant with her. That's not what I'm worried about.”
Steve flushes at the praise, but his eyes hold the same determination as on the day when he first proposed courtship to Eddie. Like he’s ready to tear apart anyone who’ll try and hurt him.
“You shouldn’t worry at all,” he says. “Whatever you wanna do, wherever you wanna go, we’ll find a way together, yeah? Just … promise me you’ll think about it?”
Eddie is nodding before he even knows it. How could he do anything else in the face of those earnest puppy-dog eyes?
“Yeah, okay,” he says, leaning in for a brief kiss. “I guess I can-”
A loud clang and a shrill cry interrupt him. When they whip around, Lizzie is scrambling upright at the end of the slide and holding her head, big tears running down her cheeks.
“Fuck,” Eddie groans, jumping up to get to her, but Steve beats him to it and scoops her up in his arms.
“That’ll leave a bump,” he says. “Come on, lemme kiss it better.”
Lizzie, whose wails have already quietened, giggles as he leaves a trail of loud, wet smooches all over the side of her face. The warm, fuzzy thing in Eddie’s chest flutters as he joins them. Lizzie burrows her face into his neck, seeking his scent, but refuses to leave Steve’s arms when he attempts to hand her over. Eddie goes for wrapping an arm around Steve’s waist instead, pressing a kiss to his temple.
“Oh, isn’t this adorable?”
When they look up, an old lady is standing next to the slide, grocery bags in both hands.
“Never mind me, dears,” she giggles. “I just think it’s beautiful, seeing young families together like this. You don’t see many alphas being that involved. Don’t let that one go, he’s a keeper.”
“Thank y-” Eddie starts to say, but then it dawns on him that she isn’t looking at him. She’s looking at Steve. Steve, with his fuzzy, pastel-colored sweater, who’s cradling their little daughter with the softest, most gooey smile on his face. “Erm, actually-”
“Oh, don’t worry,” Steve interrupts him, laying his head on Eddie’s shoulder. “I’m not planning to. He’s the best thing that ever happened to me.”
“What the fuck?” Eddie hisses as the woman trundles on and Steve shouts a cheery goodbye after her. “What was that all about?”
Steve disentangles himself from his embrace, kissing his cheek once more before he carries Lizzie over to her stroller.
“What?” he calls over his shoulder. “Let people assume what they want, we don’t owe them an explanation.”
He’s right, Eddie thinks as they start making their way home. They don’t owe anyone shit. As long as the three of them are together and happy, that’s all that matters.
He’s planning on keeping it this way.

When you do manage to get yourself out of bed and dressed for the day, which consists of an oversized long sleeved shirt that you stole from your uncle (because you liked it) along with some leggings and long white socks, you tell yourself to take a deep breath and accept whatever fate awaits you.
You've made your bed (literally, and figuratively speaking) so now you have to... well, not lie in it...
Anyway.
You walk downstairs to smell Steve at work in the kitchen, cooking up something delicious. Eddie sees you first, on the couch.
He grins and waves. "Mornin’, princess.”
You smile and give him a little wave. "Howdy."
Robin walks in with a first aid kit to give him fresh bandages, visibly sagging with relief when she sees you.
“Oh thank God, you’re up. These kids are already on one...”
You can’t help but snort a laugh at that, taking in her frazzled state, and you ask her what you can do to help but she just says in a desperate voice, “Coffee, please, I love you.”  You grin and nod, hearing her and Eddie fussing over his dressing as you make for a hot cup of coffee.
You can hear the kids all around the corner, chirping lively from the kitchen. Even El is in there participating. Hopper’s voice is in the mix somewhere, grunting something about “indoor voices.”  Your uncle is arguing over something with Erica, balls deep in a heated debate.
When you round the corner, your eyes first land on Nancy. She’s sitting at the bar with Jonathan. She smiles at you shyly. Jonathan greets you out loud.
“Bauman Squared is up.”
The kids all get in a tizzy of excitement. Erica’s excitement is short-lived, given her intense debate with your uncle. But Dustin is rushing over to you, blabbering about something pertaining to the lifespan of canned goods, and Mike is chiming in from the table saying, “No, Dustin, hold up, okay?  So, Bauman, this is actually how it started.”
But your uncle cuts him off, asking them why they call you that when you both share the same last name. Joyce teasingly points out that he’s Murray and you’re Bauman.
Hopper adds to that, “yeah man, get with the program. Your niece is our favorite.” He shoots you a wink, and you give him a finger gun of approval.
Your uncle is rolling his eyes, but shoots you a desperate look — “Coffee. Black. Strong. Gracias.”   Erica resumes her debate with him.
You grin as you move to go get your uncle a much needed cup of coffee, finding that Steve has stopped flipping the pancakes to look at you with a soft smile and scooting over a hot mug of coffee to you.
But it’s not for your uncle. It’s for you.
“Two sugar, light cream, right?”
The way that Steve murmurs the question to you makes you weak in the knees. You settle for giving him a tight-lipped grin and nod.
“Yeah, thank you,” you murmur back.
Steve moves to grab another mug, moving to pour another cup of straight black coffee for your uncle. You can’t help but notice the curve of his biceps as he does, secretly admiring his face while the coffee pours from the pot. The way his white t-shirt fits him just right, his gray sweatpants sitting at the jusssst right point of his hips.
You swallow. Fuck.
You get a hold of yourself before he’s handing it over to you. He winks. “It’s strong. I promise.”
You smirk back at him, raising the glass in thanks before walking it over to your uncle.
You don’t notice the way that Steve tries to hide the overwhelming thoughts in his brain, signaling his evolving feelings for you.
And you also don’t notice now Nancy catches it, or how it uncomfortably makes her heart seize...
But you do notice your uncle staring at you with those damn all-knowing-eyes, while Erica incessantly jabbers on about whatever the hell they’re debating. You and Murray exchange the quietest but most intense glares.
And Hopper's got half a donut hanging out of his mouth as he happens to catch the tail end of this. He wants to ask, but decides it’s best to hold off on that.
***
The day goes well. The house is always staying busy, so it keeps you all that way. Hopper is calling for a family meeting in the living room, which gets everyone in a tizzy.
The boys will always, at some point, try to take over. It takes both Joyce and Hopper to set them straight.
Your uncle makes sure to throw in his usual statement: “peanut gallery hours will follow the meeting, thank you.”
This meeting is no exception, and it goes exactly like that.
Will makes great points, as always — and he is allowed to, along with El, given their ties to the supernatural.
Jonathan and Nancy always listen the best. One of them takes notes.
Normally, you sit next to your uncle or Eddie while Steve always takes a seat next to Robin.
But this time, as you sit next to Murray at the end of the couch listening to Hopper try to push through his conference lecture while Dustin interjects like crazy, your heart flutters as Steve moves from the staircase over to sit on the arm of the couch -- next to you.
You sit still, not letting yourself react or look up at him. But you also forget to breathe. Thankfully, he’s too busy telling Dustin to can it so he doesn’t notice.
Robin is slowly shifting back in her seated position in the large loveseat, having been prepared to make room for Steve. She’s too grateful to have it to herself to feel suspicious yet.
Eddie, however, clocks it. What “it” is, necessarily? He doesn’t know.  Like honestly, he’s not even in the ballpark.  But still, he notices so yay gold star.
Nancy does know what “it” is, though, when she catches it.  Or at least she has an inkling.  She’s not the note taker today, so she’s able to catch it. She wonders to herself if maybe she is just overthinking it, given her conflicted feelings for Steve while still with Jonathan.
Steve is actively participating in the conversation with the adults, and you chime in as well. Once you’ve gotten a grip on yourself.
Something is being said about needing to go on a supply run, but also how they need to get over to the main field and see what is happening at the lab — which is now squared off with all electric fencing. The kids are LOUD, demanding it be them. Hopper shuts that down real fast.
“So help me Goddddd, listentome.” — Hopper
“Kids, shh, calm down…” — Joyce
“FETUSES, SILENCIO.”  — Murray
The kids relent with rolled eyes and groans of displeasure. Hopper rubs his temples, resetting.  Then speaking —
“I will be assigning roles. You will hear them, and you will accept them.  Deal?”
Everyone nods, agreeing. Even the kids. Great, you think, so they’ve learned to know better than push their luck that far…
Hopper is assigning 4 separate groups to 4 separate tasks.
In one group: Robin, Nancy, Will and Joyce. They will be making the supply run.
In the 2nd group: Dustin, Erica and Murray will be staying here to run the command center. Murray’s the boss. He grins, but also wants to jump off a cliff for the fact he has been assigned the responsibility of managing the two loudest kids in the group. Lucas will also stay with Max, while on lookout at base.
In the 3rd group: Hopper, El, Mike and Argyle as the driver. They’ll be assessing the damage done, pertaining to the gate re-opening. They’re on Vecna patrol.
In the 4th group: Jonathan, Steve, you and Eddie. You’ll all be venturing over the fence to spy on the lab and get a look at what is happening over there, while reporting back to Group 2.
This sends Dustin to a fit of determination, as he insists that he joins your group so that he can help with the walkie-talkie communication since Lucas and Erica can man the fort. (Murray definitely takes offense to that.)
Hopper huffs but doesn’t disagree with the suggestion. “Don’t let this give you any sort of false pretenses, kid. This is the one suggestion you’ve made that is sensible.”
Dustin just grins like a dopey idiot. Then he looks at Steve. “Yay!”
Steve rolls his eyes but honestly, he’s cool with having his buddy.
The plan is to go into effect early tomorrow morning. Meaning, everyone needs to get some good ass sleep and tuck in early.
You’re in your room now, having just showered and put on your pajamas with freshly brushed teeth. You’re putting together your combat outfit for tomorrow when there’s a knock at your door.
You expect it to be your uncle, since earlier he was going over strategies with you for an obscenely long time — which is his very awkward way of indirectly saying, “hey, you’re my niece and I love you and I’m worried about you because that’s what family does.” So you figure he’s drawn up another 10 plans to run by you, and you're happy to humor him on them.
But it’s Steve on the other side, looking shy and like he might’ve had to talk himself into doing this in fear of how you might react.
You give him a surprised but pleasant smile. He stands there, returning it timidly. There is a silence that falls over both of you. Then finally —
“Can I sleep in here tonight?”
You have to literally restrain yourself from jumping at that question with a way-too-eager oh thank god, yes. Instead, you just give him a polite grin.
“Yeah, of course,” you say.
Steve lets himself in, and he looks over to see your outfit set aside for tomorrow. He nods at it as he sits on the edge of the bed.
“Tryna look badass?”
You smirk. “I am a badass. I’m a Bauman.”
You expect Steve to scoff. To roll his eyes. Make some snide remark. But he doesn’t. He just looks at you, with that same look on his face that he had this morning while you two laid in bed together. You can’t break away your gaze for a moment, almost hypnotized.
God, he is so beautiful. Why the fuck is he so beautiful?
Finally, you break the stare down by moving to get your combat boots out from the closet and place them beside the clothes.
And that’s when you feel it. His fingers brushing the edge of your t-shirt, hooking onto it so that you turn around. You do, letting him turn you to face him. He’s looking at you intently, and slowly he pulls you towards him to cage you between his spread legs as he sits on the edge of the bed. It’s half shy, half confident. Gentle but assertive. You stare down into his doe eyes, and you hold your breath when his fingers splay across your hips as they grip onto you. You’re so close to him now, too close yet somehow not close enough. You can’t breathe.
After soaking you in, Steve reaches one arm up to pull your neck down to his face so that he can brush the tip of his nose against yours, just like you did last night. Ever so slowly, be nuzzles. Eskimo kiss.
And then his lips are finding their way to be against yours.
Steve kisses you softly, taking his time and just breathing you in. Then he sighs into your mouth as he stands so that he can lift you up, making you swing your legs to wrap around his waist and hold yourself to him there. He turns you both around, effortlessly walking you over to sit on top of the chest of drawers. Damn, he's strong. Steve places you there, lips still on yours, before he finally pulls back.  His hands glide down to the bottom of your shirt. Please, his eyes ask. But this time, he wrenches your shirt off of you with more vigor than last night. It’s urgent, and it’s still urgent when his lips crash back into yours before wrenching himself back again so that you can tug his shirt over his own head. He grunts impatiently, wanting to not be apart from you yet needing to be skin to skin. He paws and grabs at you, needy and greedy, but something about it feels a whole lot more like love than lust.
Steve tastes like summer. Sunscreen, popsicles and June. He smells like pool water and boyfriend. And he looks like a dream.
You wonder how in the world he would have felt if he’d been told during his King Steve era that one day, he’d be having sex with that one student who graduated a year early and didn’t belong to any niche crowd or group or clique. You wonder if he would scoff at that, wave it off. Say, nah, that girl? Never.
But the way that Steve keens into your neck right now, murmuring sinful names for you like angel and baby, makes you wonder if King Steve wouldn’t be able to understand that the new and improved Steve Harrington might just happen to be into things he never was into before. Maybe he’d gotten close with Nancy. Maybe you were a rebound. But he didn’t kiss you like that. Or treat you like that after your first time, for that matter...
And the second time was just as euphoric as the first time, just different. Steve was more in control, clinging to you and unafraid to go for it.
Before you know it, you’re up against the wall with your bare chest against it and your legs spread widely and his mouth on your ear. Tugging at your earlobe with his teeth and his shaky breathing, infused with his pleasured grunting humming inside of your eardrums. You pant and bite back the screams that you so fucking badly want to release. but you don't, not wanting to wake the entire household or get the attention anyone awake.  However, you made sure that he knew you were in pure fucking bliss with the way you arched your back into him and dripped all over his girth.
“Been wanting to be here inside you all day,” he rasped, thrusting against you. “Didn’t wanna leave this room.” His words break up as he pounds himself deeper into your guts. “Needed to — to — n-n-need you —”
You throw your head back against him, climaxing at his words for the second time in a row tonight. His arm linked around your waist tightens, gripping you like a lifeline, and he chokes into your ears — which only sends you into an orgasm unlike anything you’ve ever felt in your life. And Steve shares the exact same experience as you do when he ejaculates inside of you.
You both pant and gasp for air, your heart rates racing at lightning speed and trying to level out. You’re both slick with sweat and sex, and as Steve rests his head against your shoulder it sends chills up your arms when his hair flops and tickles your bare skin.
Steve pulls out of you, and you shiver as you feel him leave your body, inch by inch. The loss of him is overwhelming, and your legs shake. But before you can even move to catch yourself, Steve is already turning you to him with a steady grasp on you.
The way that Steve strokes your hair, moving it out of your face as he stares into your eyes again, is priceless. You can’t help it…
“You’re beautiful, Steve Harrington.” You breathe it against his face, still catching your breath. The corners of your lips twitch, almost like you want to laugh or smile. “I can’t stand you.”
Steve looks at you like you’re all that matters in this world. The pads of his thumbs stroke the skin under your eyes, softly, gingerly. He moves to press his lips to the corner of your mouth, breathing against it, “I can’t stand you either.”
Feather-like kisses are pressed to the corner of your mouth and cheek, and you revel in the glory of it, pressing your skull into the wall with your eyes fluttering shut.
Steve falls asleep first that night, with you tucked underneath his chin and with his arms holding you protectively. You let the sound of his steady breathing lull you to sleep.
***
The next morning comes sooner than you’d like.
You feel someone squeeze you tightly to them, pressing their lips to the crown of your hair before they roll out of bed. You watch as Steve’s back muscles flex while he tugs his sweatpants back over his boxers, then throws his shirt back on and heads to your little en-suite bathroom for a few minutes. You force yourself to sit up, knowing that it’s time and you’ll need to get ready.
Hopper would be so mad if he knew about the 5 hours of sleep you got, versus the 8.
You’re pulling out a pair of socks to go with your boots when Steve emerges from the bathroom, and before you can stand up and move to switch places — he’s cupping your cheeks to kiss your forehead in two lingering pecks. You smile under his touch.
You give him the shyest of looks before going to brush your teeth, re-shower and get changed.
Steve quietly murmurs to you the promise of coffee as he leaves. And he is all you think about in the shower.
You get changed into your army pants, combat boots, and fitted t-shirt. You grab yourself a windbreaker and throw your go-bag over your shoulder, ready to face the day.
Dustin is securing the command center with Murray and Erica, while Mike comes over to you carrying snacks.
“Here, I set extra aside so that you have plenty.”  Mike always treated you more like a sister than Nancy, and it doesn’t go unnoticed by her. You ruffle his hair and give him a quick squeeze, grateful.
Lucas and Will are asking you questions about the trip, along with Mike, and you assure your kiddos that you’ll all be fine.
Hopper comes over to you with Murray, entrusting you with one of their guns. “You’re the group's team lead today, along with Steve.”
Steve’s got his nail bat, along with a pistol.
Murray is going over the inner workings of the lab’s field layout with you and your group.
“The break switch is in this building,' he's saying. "But thanks to Erica and Dustin, we’ve got a way of hacking into it at exactly this time. You’ll have this much time to mount the electric fence and get to the other side. Seize. Those. Minutes. Haul ass. Get to the other side.  No asking why the chicken crossed the road. Capiché?”
The way that Jonathan, Eddie and Steve repeat the word back to him makes you visibly bite back a laugh.
Joyce is giving everyone the nurturing mama bear talk, hugging everyone too many times — especially Jonathan. She has Will in her group, so she’ll be a little more sane in the head thankfully.
Nancy and Jonathan are giving each other an affectionate goodbye that Steve doesn’t even notice. Nancy wonders if he does. Silently, and selfishly, she hopes he does. But he doesn’t.
Robin is rambling about something having to do with a jump-ship plan in case the jump-ship plan doesn’t work, and if they need to establish not only a 2nd abort —
“— but maybe even a 3rd abort? and wait is there really enough backpacks that they’re taking to fit all the supplies and can goods that they — ”
“Oh my god, Robin, please breathe,” Steve cuts her off.
“Wait, what’s the jump ship plan?” Argyle’s question makes everyone whip their head in his direction with incredulous looks on their faces.
Hopper looks ready to slug someone but also like a nervous dad. After he goes back over the plan for everyone, giving the bullet points, he tells you all to eat your breakfasts and be by the front door within 30 minutes or else.
Lucas takes his plate up to sit with Max. El comes over to talk with you about the day, saying that she’ll send a signal if she sees anything dangerous headed your way at the lab. She gives you a tight hug, which tugs at Hopper’s heart. He and Murray share a very rare, quiet moment with an exchange in their eyes. Our girls.
Steve is telling the boys and Erica to follow him upstairs to Max’s room to join Lucas for a motherly pep talk, and they all follow him like chicks following a mother hen.
Eddie is being given strict instructions by Robin to follow orders and not rip his stitches that she’s worked hard at keeping in tact by mounting the wall --
...“and be on the damn lookout only so help me god or else I’ll rip them back open myself,” she threatens him.
Eddie visibly swallows and nods at that, believing her.
Suddenly Nancy is walking up to you, as you stand there still hugging El while looking over Murray’s shoulder at his computer system setup. She looks nervous as you turn to her.
“Hey, umm, keep an eye on them, will you?” she asks shyly, sheepishly. “I worry about them. Especially Dustin.”
You know she meant Steve. “Yeah. Of course.”
Nancy nods awkwardly, grateful you didn’t correct her and a little embarrassed. She points to the gun on your back, giving you a tight-lipped grin. “Glad it’s you handling that bad boy.”
She flashes the same one across her back. You chuckle lightly, agreeing with her. “Yeah, the last thing we need is for Eddie to get his hands on this or else he’ll murder the whole town.”
Nancy giggles.
Eddie snickers at the joke, appreciating your dark humor. He gives you a wry smile. “Thanks princess, but I only prefer bone crushing, eye sucking curses.”
You all eat some whole wheat eggos (even El) and some scrambled eggs. Plenty of water, plus some coffee.
Steve walks in to scoop up his plate during the last 10 minutes, and Hopper takes pity on him — given that he’s been with the kids.
“You get an extra 5,” Hopper tells him.
“Appreciate it, Hop.”
Steve carries his plate over to the table, moving to sit by you and Murray — who does his best to just stare down at his coffee and ignore catching this in his peripheral vision. Sip, slurp.
It’s a quiet breakfast. Tense. Stiff. Everyone is nervous. This stuff never does get easier…
***
The kids all boom back down the stairs, loud as ever.
And everyone is out the door on time, minus the extra 5 minutes that Hopper secretly gave for Steve’s benefit. Thankfully, it goes unremarked but the kids.
You all put their hands in a circle because Dustin insisted a while back that you cannot all part ways without a group huddle. So it’s now become tradition. Everyone fist bumps in unison, and the four groups embark on their separate journeys.
Group 1 does well, making it into town. They have the bottom tier level of risk, which Hopper did intentionally for Joyce and Will's sakes because those are his hearts. He also adores the two girls, Nancy and Robin, of course. They carefully fill up Joyce’s car in doses, trying not to attract attention as everyone has a strict evacuation mandate that goes into place next week along with a food supply limit. They’re ahead of the game, doing everything not to give away what Dr. Owens warned them about.
Group 2 is in full swing, back at Casa Harrington. Erica and Murray bicker like a married couple, but they also high five. Lucas makes sure that Max is safely tucked in, giving her a kiss on the forehead and a promise to be back upstairs in a few hours.
Group 3 is cautious. They have to calculate every single move, given the risks. El uses her senses to tap in, blindfold on and static on the van's radio ringing throughout the car. Mike keeps watch, along with Argyle at the wheel — and Hopper navigates.
Group 4, your group, is en route. You have the longest journey to make on foot, making sure to keep their strength. Jonathan keeps watch of time, and Dustin hangs into the walkie-talkie to keep contact. You scan the area, and so does Steve, as you all walk. Eddie sings to himself to keep from wigging out, and it’s definitely giving mumbled panic.
You are telling everyone the ETA, using the compass. Steve tells the gang to keep the same pace so that they make sure they aren’t there too soon or too late, wanting to time it right with Group 2’s orders.
At some point, you gesture for everyone to pivot directions, and when Steve steps in your direction — he instinctively reaches out to brush the small of your back. It’s so subtle… yet so telling.
Eddie cocks an eyebrow mid-song, ceasing the mumbling altogether for about 2 solid seconds, before resuming as he walks. Even Jonathan raises an eyebrow, silently smirking.
Dustin misses it entirely.
Then Dustin starts communicating back and forth on the walkie-talkie with Erica, and as they start to bicker Steve interjects.
“Hey, dingus, cool it and listen to what she’s saying, please.”
Dustin huffs, whining, “but she’s wronnnng...”
You squint in the sunlight as you look back at him, saying simply, “Listen to your mother.”
Steve doesn’t even flinch. You both just look back at your son expectantly. Dustin sighs but obeys.
Oh that definitely makes Eddie and Jonathan share a look.
Back at base, Murray is struggling to access the switch for the electric fence closest to where Group 4 (you guys) is approaching. He and Erica work hard at it, and Lucas helps as he keeps open the line of communication with Dustin via the walkie-talkie.
“This east side gate is a bitch,” Murray is griping over the channel.  “Hang tight, just pause when you guys make it there.”
Dustin and Lucas are going back and forth, while Jonathan tries to keep up with what they are all saying.
You can see the fence up ahead, and so does Steve.
Eddie’s singing gets louder.
Nancy speaks over the walkie-talkie channel: “Group 1, reporting.  Over.”
Dustin speaks.  “Group 4, tuned in.  Over.”
The other groups tune in, too.  Nancy continues in a hushed voice.  “Food supply is running low so we’re going to double up.  The mandate will be really strict.  Can’t take chances.  Over.”
Jonathan tells her to keep them posted with the ETA.
El comes onto the walkie-talkie, asking for you.
You take it, speaking: “Bauman squared, I copy.  Over.”
Eleven tells you that she can see you all headed there to the lab, and that no one is nearby.  You’re safe.
Hopper adds: “But Eddie, make sure that you stay tuned into this channel and relay it to Dustin just in case.  Over.”
Eddie’s song of woe dies on his lips with an anxious exhale.  “Roger that, over.”
Steve speaks up, “Alright guys, we’re here.”
Dustin signals Murray, right on cue.  You all stare up at the looming electric fence in front of you.  It’s tall.  At least 30 feet up.  You gulp.  So does Jonathan.  For Steve, it’s easy.  For Dustin, well, it’s exciting.
Jonathan adds to the relayed info, addressing Murray, saying, “Yeah, uhhh, it’s pretty high up man?”
Murray’s tone comes through, crisp.  “How high is high?”
Jonathan visibly shrinks back as he squints in the sunlight. “Like...25-30 feet?”
Murray curses on the other side, frustrated.  “Alright, hold please.”
Steve turns over to face you all, starting with you.  “It’s gonna be a helluva climb.”
You nod.  “We’ll have to double up the speed, guys.  But for safety, let’s just do two at a time.”
Jonathan’s brow furrows.  “Why?”
You tell them it’s safest this way.  This way, two people can gauge the timing of it just in case.  Dustin immediately demands to go in the first group, which Steve shuts down promptly — like all good mothers would with their favorite child.  He starts to onboard Jonathan, but you’re already saying you’ll go as you tighten up your bag.  Steve looks at you, hesitant.
You look back at him, giving him a nod.  “No arguments.”
Steve sighs through his nose.  “Yeah, I figured as much.”
He’s so sexy when he isn't actually hating you, and instead just consistently miffed with you…
“Group 4, listen up,” Murray’s voice comes over the walkie-talkie.  “I’m signaling the switch now.  On my mark, it will take exactly 3 minutes for it to activate.  You’ll have 60 seconds to climb it.  Up and down.  That’s it.  Remember what I said: haul ass.”
Dustin responded back with a sigh, “Steve and Bauman Squared insist on going two at a time so…”  He dreads the next question, cringing before asking.  “Any chance you guys can…do it…twice?”
You turn around, waiting to hear your uncle’s reply and wondering if you’ll need to step in.  His befuddled response confirms, yes you will, and you walk over to take the walkie.
“Uncle Murray, it’s not very sturdy.  It’s too big a risk, four at a time.  If you can’t do it, then just me and Steve will go.  What can we do?  Over.”
You speak matter-of-factly, which Steve appreciates.  He stands with his hands on his hips and tongue between his teeth, all hot and mom-like.  Even though for you...he’s giving daddy.
Eddie has been pacing a trough into the grass.  Please let me have company, he thinks.
Jonathan’s just quiet, wondering if now is a good time to tell everyone that he’s actually afraid of heights.
Dustin just wants to fucking climb already.
“Workin’ on it.  Standby.”  Your uncle’s monotone voice makes you all wait.
You stare up at the fence while you do.  Then, turning your face over in Steve’s direction, you find that he’s already gazing over at you.  That fondness in his eyes is back, and you feel your cheeks flush under the sun.  But it’s not the sun making you blush.  Steve's hands are still on his tips, and he gives you a tiny wink before turning to look back at Dustin with the walkie-talkie.  He tells his kid not to stress about it if they can’t come, which only starts a back-and-forth argument between mother and son.  But Erica’s voice cuts through it over the walkie.
“Group 4 nerds, listen up.  We found a way to do it.  Over.”
Dustin pumps his fist in glee.  Jonathan doesn’t.  Eddie realizes he’s doomed, back to being there all alone.
Steve takes the walkie, asking, “Same timeframes, Murray?  Over?”
Your uncle confirms it, but then Lucas is in the background saying, “Wait, are you sure this will give them 60 seconds?”
Steve raises an eyebrow at that.  But you’re looking at the top of the fence.  The end of the other side of the line is quiet for a hot minute.  No doubt, Murray and the kids are beefing.  Re-calculating.  Beefing some more.  Getting attitudes.  Then finally —
“Erica to group 4, confirming.  Timeframes are exact.  Wait for us to signal the 2nd climb.  Standby and brace for 1st climb.  Over.”
You and Steve look at each other.  Here we go.  He fastens his backpack, reaching out a hand to you and telling you to hand over yours.  You go to protest, but he’s just insisting without budging and reaching anyway.  It isn’t until his hand starts to slide the strap down your shoulder that you huff and relent.
“30 seconds to climb.”
“There’s a ledge up there, wide enough to stand on.”  You nod up at it as you tell Steve.  “If we run low on time, we hang there until the 2nd climb.”
Steve nods at you, agreeing.  He turns and relays that to a very anxious Jonathan and a very antsy Dustin.  You gesture over to Dustin, telling him to toss you his backpack.  Steve goes to argue but you hold up a hand.
“Better me than him," you say quickly. It’s a parental thing that he would insist on too, so he lets you win that one.
Dustin obeys after seeing mom agree with…um…dad? Are you dad?
“10 seconds to climb.”
Steve talks fast, in position to pounce.  “Eddie, on go, toss that branch to hit the fence.  Double check for sparks.”  Eddie nods, picking up the large branch nearby.  You get in position with Steve.
“5…4…3…2…1…climb!”
Eddie tosses the branch.  No electric shock.  All systems go.
You and Steve hop as high as you can, climbing up like champs.  You both hustle, swiftly making the climb like pro climbers.  Steve is faster, planning to reach down and lift you the rest of the way if he gets to the top first.  But you’re almost right at the same level with him, almost at the top.
…until your bag catches.
The strap of Dustin’s bag pulls you back down.  Air catches in your throat, no scream escaping your mouth as it swings you around, unhooks and makes you fall back some feet.  But you latch back onto the wall, back down to midway.  Fuck.
Dustin gasps, Jonathan shouts your name.  Eddie starts his shit-shit-shit chant.
You look down, realizing that it’s way too far of a drop to just fall back down and start over.  You are literally back to the mid-way point.
You make up your mind within a few seconds: keep going.
Steve is hoisting himself up onto the thick ledge as this is happening, and when he turns to see you lower his heart stops.
“Bauman, what happened??"
But you keep climbing, shouting, “Steve, just keep going.”
But Steve is not having that.  He’ll fucking wait.  Hell, he’ll wait for Dustin too.  He’s staying put.  He shakes his head, clapping his hands and reaching for you even though you still have another fourth of the wall to mount before you reach him.
“30 more seconds.”  Oh thank God, that’s plenty.
”You got this, Bauman, c’mon...” Steve’s ready to hold you again.  Anxious.  So fucking anxious.
Dustin is cheering too, along with Eddie and Jonathan.  You’re fine.  Almost there.
You look at Steve at the top, leaning over the side looking down at you. You can see the anxious anticipation in his brown eyed gaze.
“20 more seconds.  Group 2, don’t forget to wait for our signal.”
But right as Murray stops talking — the wall buzzes.
Everything happens in slow motion.  One second feels like a whole minute for all 5 of you in your group.  Your ears perk up at the sound.  That wasn’t an insect.  That’s mechanic.  That’s —
“Was that —”  Eddie barely started to ask the question you were all wondering.
“Fuck, Bauman — !!! ”  Jonathan’s voice is panicked with realization.
Steve’s brow furrowed, alarm and horror sweeping across his entire face.
You feel a scorch so hot, fire itself couldn’t have burned as badly as the electric shock that shot through your entire body did.
In that single second, you felt your brain short circuit.
You felt your hands get shoved away from the wall, throwing you off with blinding force.
You felt your throat snap, and you felt your heart rumble inside of your chest...
And then you felt it stop.
*****************************
:( im sorry, Steve.
author notes: I am sure that the fence thing might be weird and not accurate, but it helped my vision for how this chapter goes down. so I hope you all will be kind and not find it too "unrealistic." had to watch some stuff like the OG Jurassic Park, and get ideas for it.

imagine eddie is the lead singer of corroded coffin but his natural singing voice is naturally like josh kiszka's from greta van fleet
it hurts his throat a lot to try and sing in the loud, hoarse, raspy screams he feels like he should be, being a metal band and all, so one of the nights at the hideout he's like "Okay, this is kinda different from what we try to play, but shit's killing my throat so here's this instead."
his 'real' singing voice wakes up those 5 drunk regulars and the next week they bring more people (and so did eddie apparently, because he can see steve, robin, and nancy grinning up at him from the crowd).
the boys play one of their own scream-y more traditional metal songs, then another, then when they try to close with a cover, one of the regulars yells out "Play that highway one again!"
"…The what?"
"That shit you played last week, the one about a highway girl!"
Eddie looks around at his bandmates, who look just as confused as he feels.
"This one..?" he plays the first notes, and that one regular and a couple others whoop and holler.
"Hell yeah, play that one again!"
"Uh…yeah, sure man, you got it.." Eddie shrugs nonchalant, but damn! he wants to show off for his friends! that shit last week was a fluke, one of his own songs he was sure the other guys didn't want to play in the first place.
he glances around at his bandmates and they all look shocked but delighted at the request, so they play it again (after an unneeded apologetic look from eddie, they really like eddie's song!).
when they finish, the now 10 people in the bar cheer and hoot and holler, and when they make their way off the stage, there are a couple people who stop them with "That was really good, do you have any more like that?", "Never heard nothin' like that before, you kids got somethin' special.", and "Y'all better be back next week, 'cause I sure will be." from the patrons, and a harried, ecstatic "Dude, please tell me you have more," from Jeff.
and also something about how since that night all of steve's thoughts are consumed completely by eddie's voice because "Holy shit did you hear him, Robin??"
idk, just eddie being a songwriter that can't help but get his influences from his uncle's preference for blues and folk music when writing and then again, can't help but mix it with his love of hard/classic rock but him never using any of it or even suggesting it to the other guys because it wasn't corroded coffin's and wasn't metal but that being exactly what shoots them into stardom

When Steve gets back home, you’re sitting on the floor of the kitchen drinking water out of a bowl with a half empty bag of bread beside you.
“Jesus,” he says. “This looks kinda pathetic, don’t you think?”
Eddie, sitting on the counter while he monitors you, shrugs. “All our cups are dirty.”
“She didn’t want to sit on the couch or something?”
“No, she said—”
“The floor’s really important right now,” you say gravely.
Eddie nods. “I kind of get it.”
Steve huffs a laugh, squatting beside you. “How’s it going, honey?”
“M’not feeling fabulous,” you mumble, your voice echoing around the inside of the bowl. “Are Nancy and Robs okay?”
“Yeah, they’re good,” he says. “They’re home safe.” He peers into the bowl when you lower it for a second. You’ve almost drained it. He has to hand it to Eddie; purposefully or not, his bowl scheme has gotten you to drink a good amount of water. “Neither of them would tell me what you guys got up to, though.”
You’ve just raised the bowl to drink again, and you giggle into your little cavern.
Eddie, feeling left out, hops down from the counter and takes up a position on your other side. “Ooh, that sounds like trouble.” He nudges your shoulder with his, squinting at you deviously. “What’d you do, huh?”
You set the bowl down, finished. “Nothing,” you say smugly.
Eddie leans around you to shoot Steve a look, and he rolls his eyes at the showy intrigue in it.
“Let me guess,” his boyfriend drawls. “You went to that biker bar downtown?”
You shake your head but realize your mistake halfway through, frowning at yourself. “M’not gonna say anything.”
“That’s no fun! Come on, did you all get secret matching tattoos?”
You press your lips together. Ignore the eyebrow Steve raises at you.
“Did you go skinny dipping in the river? Go to a strip club?” Eddie gasps, expression morphing into one of scandal like your face has revealed anything more than a growing amusement at his theories. “Oh my god, you worked a strip club! Baby, you should’ve told us, Stevie and I would’ve tipped you good if we’d been invited.”
“Quit it.” You go to pinch Eddie’s side. He stops you with a hand on your wrist and a delighted grin. “M’not telling you yes or no to anything, so don’t bother.”
“Alright,” Steve says at the mischievous look in his boyfriend’s brown eyes, “you ready for bed?”
Instantly, your good mood slips away. “No,” you say, almost pleading. “M’too dizzy, I can’t go to bed like this.”
Eddie’s coo sounds how Steve feels. He stands while his boyfriend kisses sympathetically at your cheek, reaching down for you.
“That’s alright,” he promises. “Let’s just brush teeth for now, okay? We’ll give you some time to sober up.”
It takes some help from Eddie on the floor to get you up, but soon Steve has his arm around your waist, keeping you pressed close to his side as he all but carries you to the bathroom. He hears Eddie moving around in the kitchen, cleaning up your small mess, and takes the opportunity to lean in to whisper, “Okay, are you really not going to tell me how you got like this?”
You groan, head lolling onto his shoulder. “You’re gonna think it’s so uncool.”
Steve laughs quietly. “C’mon, babe. You’ve got the D&D master in there, and then a guy who probably peaked in high school. Are you really worried about what we think is cool?”
“Yes,” you mutter, but sigh in defeat as he leans you against the bathroom counter, getting your toothbrush ready for you. “Fine. We didn’t even go out. We just stayed in Nancy’s basement.”
He feels his eyebrows go up. “I thought you guys were going to go to the bars.”
“We were, but Robin brought us brownies to eat before we left, and…and she didn’t tell me what was in them until I’d already had two.”
“Oh,” Steve realizes, “you’re high, huh?”
“I had a bit to drink before that, too,” you say miserably. You take the toothbrush from him, all but shoving it into your mouth.
“You’re crossed?” Steve gives a little laugh, scrubbing his hand up and down your arm sympathetically. Your skin is pleasantly warm, and you lean into his touch like his hands are molding you that way. “Shit, that sucks.”
“We didn’t even get to go out because of me,” you lament around a mouthful of toothpaste. You’re starting to sound a bit teary. “And I threw up in Nancy’s bathroom.”
Steve tries to look like he’s taking this seriously, but it’s hard to keep the amusement from his tone. “You couldn’t have known, you know?” He crosses his arms, watching as you scrub the inside of your mouth like you’re trying to rid yourself of this entire night. “Robs should have told you earlier. Christ, no wonder you seemed so much more fucked up than either of them.”
“What’s going on?” Eddie leans against the doorway.
“She’s crossed,” Steve says.
“Steve!” You spit your toothpaste into the sink and look up at him, betrayed. “You’re such a narc!”
“Aw, baby.” Steve really doesn’t know why you ever wanted to keep this a secret from Eddie. He’ll tease you more for it, sure, but he’ll also baby you way more than Steve ever would. And predictably, you eat it up, responding to his tone with a cute pout. “This is your first time being high, isn’t it?”
You nod pitifully. “I didn’t even mean to,” you warble, eyes looking dangerously wet. “It was an accident.”
Eddie crosses the distance to you in two long strides, wrapping his arms around your middle so your back is pressed to his front. “Poor thing,” he coos. “You were tricked, huh?”
“She was,” Steve says, somewhat crossly. “Robin’s gonna hear it when I see her tomorrow, don’t worry.”
“No, Steve!” Your boyfriend sticking up for you only seems to worsen your upset. You turn your glassy eyes on him, reaching for his hand. “You can’t tell, please! S’a girls’ night secret, you’re not supposed to know.”
Steve softens. He can play tough, but he’s never been any match for you when you make your eyes all big and sad like that. He’ll give you anything you want.
“I dunno,” Eddie says, “I think we should go egg her house.”
Steve grins, but you blanch.
“No,” you protest urgently, clearly missing the humor in Eddie's voice.
“Alright, alright.” Steve tugs your hand toward him, soothing his palm up the inside of your wrist. “We won’t tell, honey.” Eddie rolls his eyes, but they’re full of fondness as he stamps a kiss on your cheek to show his agreement. “Do you want to sit in bed until you feel okay enough to go to sleep?”
The worry clears from your expression, replaced by something almost approaching shyness. “Yes, please,” you say, sinking into Eddie’s hold. “You guys can go to sleep though, if you want.”
“Oh, no way,” Eddie says, keeping you securely in his hold as he starts to walk you towards the bedroom. “It’s your first time being high, baby! I wouldn’t miss this for anything.”
You grin like he’s silly, but when your unsteady gaze lands on Steve it’s tentative.
“We’re not just gonna leave you awake by yourself,” he agrees. “We’ll stay up however long you need us to.”
“Exactly,” Eddie says. “Okay, tell me everything going through your head right now. Do you kind of feel like you’re watching a TV show through your own eyes?”

The Response
Part Two of The Interview [Part One] [Ao3]
With no exact time given by Robin, Eddie's left to kill time. He drags himself from the YouTube spiral to try and track down Steve on social media. After two hours, he concludes that either Steve has his (and official Corroded Coffin's) socials blocked, or Steve just doesn't have any. He's a bit baffled that people can even find Steve to send hate mail to him.
He shoots a text to Gareth. Can you find Steve on any socials?
He gets an instant reply.
DO NOT CONTACT!!!
WAIT FOR RESPONSE
DONOT MAKE THISS WORSE MUNSON
Eddie frowns down at his phone but doesn't argue. He probably would make it worse. He sends back 'k' and looks back to the laptop. Watches it auto-refresh but Robin's feed hasn't changed.
God, what will Steve have to say?
It's mostly true, that Eddie hasn't thought about Steve in years. That's been deliberate. Eddie was so furious back then. Robin wasn't wrong about him venting his feelings into a song, but how was he supposed to know Hey Steve would be the song the catch the ear of the people? And yeah, the lyrics are very unflattering.
A lot of their first songs were filled with rage. The whole first album is just their collective high school experiences. Songs about growing up in Hawkins and how shit that was for them, a song about Eddie's complicated feelings towards his dad, songs about dungeons and dragons disguised as fantasy ballads, things like that. And, of course, Hey Steve.
He can admit that years ago he reevaluated the lyrics and found it to be more harsh than was warranted. But he figured there was no point worrying about that. People exaggerate in songs all the time. The song is out, people still plead for it to be played during encore performances. Eddie hadn't thought it was hurting anyone to play it.
Hey Steve had taken Eddie less than two days to write. He did almost nothing for those two days except write. Fuck. He was still just a dumb kid when he wrote it, barely graduated high school. And the reason for writing it...
Eddie had know Steve wasn't out to his parents when he'd asked Steve to essentially runaway with him. Steve had worried about things like money, and living situations, and getting food. It had all sounded like excuses to Eddie back then. Like Steve was picking the safety of Hawkins and his parents' house over going out into the world to be with Eddie freely.
They'd fought about it. The worst fight they'd ever had. Yet, here Eddie is, a decade later and unable to recall anything that was actually said. Just a summary of that conversation exists in his mind, now. Steve wanting to wait. To save more money now that his hours at the grocery store would be changing from part time to full with him no longer being in school and able to work the morning shifts. Wait to get his car fully transferred to his name from his parents.
All things that adult Eddie can now see as reasonable. Jesus Fucking Christ. He remembers he'd given Steve some sort of ultimatum. He was leaving on the last Grey Hound from Hawkins to Indy. Steve could meet him at the bus stop or stay, but Eddie was going, with or without him.
Steve had shouted back. He knows they just got louder and nastier until Steve finally told him that he would be going without him, then, because they were over. Even as angry as Eddie had been, he'd held out hope. But that last bus left Hawkins with Eddie on it and no sign of Steve in sight.
So Eddie did what he did best. Channeled that hurt into anger and wrote a song. Never in a million years did he think that, in the very first bar they played at in Indy, they'd meet a man who wanted to take a chance with them and get them a demo. All they needed to do was get from Indy to LA. Eddie had a van and the motivation. The next year of his life was too busy for him to even think, much less worry about Steve and his breakup.
Well, that was a lie. He thought about it constantly and shoved the thoughts aside as quickly as they came. Easier to do when he had no way to check up on Steve. He left Hawkins with no laptop and a pay-per-text flip phone he'd bought at a gas station. Wayne tried his best to provide for Eddie, and that meant they'd had one cell phone between the two, and Eddie had insisted that Wayne keep it.
By the time he got a laptop and internet, Steve had blocked him on Facebook and Twitter. That was the conclusion Eddie had come to when he finally worked up the nerve to swallow his pride and apologize and couldn't find Steve on either platform. Another thing that had filled Eddie with anger and hurt. Steve had broken up with him and then made sure Eddie couldn't reach back out.
Now he wonders, did Steve block him, or did Steve delete his socials to stop the hate mail?
Eddie feels nauseous.
Fuck!
What's worse is that, before the fight, Eddie had been so sure he was in love with Steve. But how can he say that with how quickly he dropped him? With how he's acted ever since? He could justify it to himself when he was still freshly broken up with and hurting but that faded away as fame took over.
Hard to be sad about not having a boyfriend when there were plenty of people lining up to be with him.
He pulls himself from his head to look at the laptop. A new tweet shows on Robin's screen and he scrambled to turn off the auto-refresher.
It's a short tweet, and Eddie sees she's changed her name as well.
Tumblr media
Clicking the link takes him to a YouTube video.
It starts with the camera slightly jiggling, presumably from someone hitting record. It's been set up in a recording studio. A stool in front of a mic that's suspended from the ceiling is the only thing in the frame.
"Alright, dingus, last chance to change your mind about this," Robin's voice is picked up from off screen.
"You can't talk me out of this," says a male voice, and without any thought about it, Eddie's hand flings out and slaps the space bar, pausing the video. His heart is pounding, and he has to take a few deep breaths. That was Steve's voice. Of course, it was Steve's voice, it's his statement video, but hearing it again. Hearing it spoken softly but determined.
Swallowing feels difficult. Eddie's last memory of Steve's voice was screaming. This is... this is the Steve he never thought he'd hear again, and hasn't realized how much he desperately wanted to. With shaking hands, he presses play again.
Steve steps into frame, takes a seat on the stool. He looks in the direction of the camera, and Eddie has to pause again, to take him in. His hair is longer than it was in high school, the ends of it touching his shoulders. He's got it pulled up in a half updo, keeping the hair out of his face. His face is familiar and yet so different. He certainly looks older but not in a bad way. The biggest difference is his nose; it's not as straight as it once was, like it's been broken and healed wrong. His strong, square face is as handsome as it ever was, perhaps more so now. Eddie's eyes are drawn to the two moles on his cheek; his eyes have always been drawn there. It was his favorite place to kiss Steve.
He's wearing light wash jeans and a deep blue Henley. And fuck if it doesn't make him look good.
Eddie unpauses again, and waits to hear the retribution he deserves.
"This good, Robin?"
"Yeah, you're perfectly in frame."
"Good. Uhh, hi. I'm Steve. Robin told me that there was a lot of fuss regarding a certain Corroded Coffin song, and that people wanted to hear from me. Which is wild 'cause like, I'm just some guy and I don't really have much to say-" Steve is saying, with a shrug of his shoulders.
"Steve!" Robin interrupts him, "I just had to help you move because someone threw a brick through your window! What do-"
"Okay! I get it! But that's not Corroded Coffin's fault. They do that whole anti-bullying thing! It's not like they don't address harassment and bullying. I-" Steve cuts off, seeming to remember he's on camera. His face turns pink. "We can argue this later. Uhh, anyway. There is something I want to say to Eddie Munson, so I hope he's watching."
He makes a 'give it to me' gesture and Robin enters frame, handing him an acoustic guitar. "I thought I'd answer using the one thing Eddie understands best. Music. So, uh, I wrote this song with Robin's help. Lyrics are mine but the melody is Robin. The song doesn't have a title but, uh, okay. Here it goes."
And then, Steve starts to sing, looking down at the guitar for correct finger placement more than singing into the mic but it picks him up well regardless.
"Do you think I'd give up? That this might've shook the love from me? Or that I was on the brink? How could you think, darling, I'd scare so easily? Now that it's done There's not one thing that I would change My life was a storm, since I was born. How could I fear any hurricane? If someone asked me at the end I'll tell them put me back in it-" Eddie is sitting down, and still he feels the floor fall out from under him.
"-Darling, I would do it again, ah, ah If I could hold you for a minute Darling, I'd go through it again, ah, ah."
Eddie doesn't hear the rest of the song because of the blood pounding in his ears. This can't be- it doesn't mean- after all this time? After everything that's happened, everything Eddie let happen, unintentionally or not.
His phone buzzes against his leg. He ignores it in favor of restarting the video and listening to the video from the start. He listens to the whole song and it ends without anything else. Once Steve's strummed the last chord, he just stands up, walks to the camera and the video ends.
He restarts the video again, and again, and again. Hears Steve sing How could you think I'd scare so easily and I would do it again if I could hold you for a minute and though I know my heart would break I'd tell them put me back in it.
It's through the tenth, or eleventh, playback that his phone buzzes again and he fumbles to answer blindly, unable to pull his eyes away from Steve on the screen of his laptop.
"Gare- It's not- what did I do Gare? Everything I thought Steve would have to say never came close to what he just sang. I can't- I don't know what to do," Eddie sobs into the phone.
There's a pause of silence before what is very much not Gareth's voice says, "Well, dammit Munson. I was calling to rip you a new one but you're already crying."
It takes Eddie a moment to place the voice, "Robin?"
"Unfortunately, yes," Robin says. "I think Steve's let you off easily, but I also know I kick a hornet's nest with my interview so I think we should work on getting this cleared up, both publicly and privately."
"How did you get my num-"
"Gareth. Keep up, Munson. I'd like us to be able to call off each other's fans. Your PR team and whoever you employee to do that anti-bullying campaign have done a pretty good job so far in telling people to back off, politely. Helps that Jeff has been on top of this from the beginning. Honestly, I think the best decision you've ever made in your life was making Jeff the front man of your band and not yourself. He's much more pleasant to talk to, and so good with people."
"Robin!" Eddie has to shout because Robin keeps saying words and they don't make sense. "What?"
He hears a sign from the other end of the phone. "You are annoying. You know that, Munson? I'll work with Gareth to get this done. I think we should be seen together, publicly. Maybe getting a coffee. So everyone knows we've made up, or whatever it is Gareth and I decide is happening. We should also meet up privately. There's a lot to talk about."
"I'm so confused."
"Nothing new. Now, when are you free to get on a plane to Pendleton, Oregon?"
"Pendleton?"
"Munson!" Robin snaps, "we just established that you live in a perpetual state of confusion. Instead of questioning me, how about you answer my questions. Now, when are you free?"
"Anytime."
"Smart answer. Get your ass to Pendleton by the morning of the twenty-third. I'll work with Gareth for all the other concerns. He's easier to deal with."
"Can I ask one follow up question at least!?"
"You just did but I'll allow one more before I hang up."
"Why Pendleton?"
"It's the nearest airport to our destination. I am not having a private conversation with you in California. I don't want to be caught speaking to you until Gareth and I have a chance to work out the details."
And then Robin hangs up.
Eddie leans forward and restarts the video on his laptop before looking up plane tickets. Fixing things with Robin might be the first step in ever getting try and, he doesn't know, apologize to Steve? Maybe even have a conversation one day.
He doesn't deserve that chance, he thinks, but he's a bad enough person to want it anyway.

So there's a 60s song. One of my favorites. I have several, but let's not focus on that. Its called Give Him A Great Big Kiss by The Shangri-Las, and everytime i hear it, it makes me think of steddie.
More so of Steve finding the song, probably in his mom's old record case. And he's always loved the song. But then he met Eddie. And it's meaning changed. His thoughts constantly drifting to Eddie when he hears it. And he starts singing it all goofy and love sick when he hears it now.
He and Robin work at a bar downtown, Eddie works at the mechanic shop around the corner. He comes in for early lunch a lot, and that's how they meet. They get along great. All of them do. Robin loves him to death. As far as she's concerned she gained another soulmate along side Steve. One who blabbers like her and they rant at each other constantly, Steve watching them fondly.
But he's also got it bad for Eddie. Obviously. And Robin knows this. Knows about the song. And the way Steve sings it all gooey and adoring and lost in thought.
After a few plays of the song she sings along with him, they duet they're hearts out when it comes on and the bar is empty. Usually right before they open. Both of them using mops, or bottles, or dishrags as microphones as they sing.
Eddie is pining too. He's got it so bad for Steve that he finds it hard to look at him sometimes. And Robin, drukenly one night, after Steve had fallen alseep in his chair beside the pool, had told Eddie to shoot his shot. That he'd sink it, or get a home run, or a touchdown, or some other sports term that neither of them really understood.
But everytime Eddie has tried to make a move, something comes up. They get interrupted. Every. Single. Time. Eddie had decided fate was against them and almost given up hope.
He'd had a plan today. Come to the bar for lunch before they opened, ask him, whether Robin was there or not. She'd been making it a point to not speak to them if it looked like they were talking about something important. Eddie knew it was pity for him. Was endlessly greatful.
But that was how he ended up at the bar. Ducking in the side entrance they left open for him. And he's about to burst in like normal, all loud enthusiasm to see his friends, but he hears Steve groaning about something, hears Robin laughing, hears his name, and it stops him, his hand pressed gently to the door.
"Uuugghhh my god. I'm useless. I was so good at this in school. I could ask anyone out. Like it was nothing." Steve grumbles, Eddie's stomach flutters, he pushed the door open, just a crack, can only see Robin where she's perched on the bar top, legs crossed.
"Maybe that's the problem." She shrugs, Eddie sees her drop her hand to the left, he bites his lip and carefully pushes the door a bit further. He has to stifle a laugh when he sees Steve, looking forlorn, head dropped onto the bar, Robin's hand petting at his hair absent-mindedly. He turns his head to look up at her and Eddie moves to the side a bit, hoping Steve doesn't notice him.
"Huh?" He huffs, glares up at her. She pats the side of his face a couple times and takes her hand back.
"You said you did it like it was nothing. Maybe this isn't nothing? With Eddie, I mean. Maybe it's... bigger. Better!" Her hands move in a flurry in front of her as she talks, Steve ducks away from them as he sits up on the stool properly.
"Better. ...elaborate?" He says slowly, his eyes on the ceiling, his face all screwed up the way Eddie loves, his concentration face, it would be Eddie's downfall one day.
Robin nods enthusiastically, plops her feet down onto the stool next to Steve.
"Well does it feel different? With Eddie? Than it did with all those other people?" She asks, looking down at him with an impossibly fond look.
Eddie watches Steve bite his lip, think for a long moment, his hand moves absent-mindedly to his stomach. Eddie mirrors him, his stomach fluttering as he watches. Feeling a bit guilty, but he can't look away. He can't move. He has to keep listening. Needs the courage, he tells himself. Steve nods.
"Yeah it does. It's different. He's different." Steve says, and he's got this dopey look on his face that Eddie's never seen. Robin nods, slides down off the bar, her butt replacing her feet as she holds Steve's knees tightly.
"Different then what? Then who?" Robin promtps, giving him a gentle squeeze.
"Different then everyone." Steve breathes it like a prayer and then immediately shoves his face into his hands with a groan as Robin makes a high pitched noise in her throat.
"You know what this needs don't you?" She asks, excitement coursing through her now. She's on her feet before Steve answers, bouncing out of veiw, toward the jukebox in the corner. Steve groans again and turns to follower her.
"Alcohol?" He asks, voice dry. Eddie hears Robin snort.
"Maybe after work. But right now what we need, is.... drum roll please." She draws out the please. Eddie watches Steve sit on the stool, watching her. He gives her nothing.
"I said drum roll!!" She shouts, and Steve grins, tapping his hands on the stool between his legs.
"Theeeeeee Eddie song!" She sings, and Eddie faintly hears the click of the Jukebox before a womans voice fills the air. Music kicking in after the first few words, Steve already bobbing along. Eddie's heart stutters in his chest. He knows this song. Has heard Steve humming it a few times. It's not a bad song. Eddie's open to things.
He watches Robin dance back into view as Steve starts mouthing the words, pretending to fight against it. But all Eddie can hear are the lyrics, as Steve really starts to get into it, taking Robin's hand and letting her pull him off his seat.
"Thick wavy hair. A little too long. All day loooong, he's singin his song." Steve starts to sway, and Eddie can't do it, they're moving out of view and he needs to see this. He ducks through the door quietly and sinks back to the back corner silently, both of them lost in the song as they dance. Robin chiming in now.
"Well, what color are his eyes?" She asks Steve, perfectly in sync with the song, they've clearly done this... a lot. Steve shrugs and counters,
"I don't know. He's always wearing shades." He sighs wistfully.
"Is he tall?" Robin asks, climbing back onto the bar, laying on her stomach, feet kicked up in the air.
"Well, I've got to look up." Steve stays out on the dining floor, dancing between the tables, swaying his hips.
"Yeah? Well I hear he's bad." Robin scrunches her face as she sings.
"Hmm. He's good bad. But he's not evil." Steve furrow his brow, 'thinking'.
"Tell me more. Tell me more." Robin sings, kicking her feet to the beat, chin in her hands as she grins at Steve. He does a fancy twirl and falls into a chair, dreamy look on his face as he continues.
"Big bulky sweaters, to match his eyes. Dirty fingernails, oh boy what a prize." He swoons a little, his head resting on his chin for a moment before he spins up out of the chair again, dancing towards Robin as he sings through the chorus again.
Eddie's breathing is fast now, his palms sweating as he watches and listenes to Steve sing about kissing him in the street, and loving and caring for him. Wanting to always be there for him. Eddie doesn't miss how fond he looks.
He's looked fond this entire time. Fond and... something else. Eddie's not sure there's a word for it. But he thinks 'longing' might be close. He wipes his palms on his grease stained jeans and moves foward, slowly, not wanting to draw attention, but he can't stay put any longer. Robin chimes in again, rolling onto her back dramatically, arms crossed over her chest.
"Is he a good dancer?"
"What do you mean is a good dancer?" Steve laughs into the line and Eddie's stomach flutters, he could watch Steve like this forever.
"Well how does he dance?" Robin sings, sitting up and facing Steve as he closes in on the stool in front of her, places his hands on it and practically sighs the last line.
"Close. Very, very, close."
The music fades. Robin singing the last of the 'oohs' gently as it does, both her and Steve smiling at each other. Eddie takes this moment to bump into a chair, sending it screeching a few inches across the floor, both of them flailing as they turn to look at him.
"Oh my god!" Robin yells, her hands clamping over her mouth. Steve is frozen as she looks between him and Eddie. Eddie raises one hand from his thigh, wobbles his hand in an awkward wave.
"Uhh... hey." He says, brilliantly. Steve's face is getting redder and redder as he stands there, and Eddie can see him tensing. About to bolt.
So he does something he's never been very good at. For Steve. He finds his bravery and walks right up to Steve, plants himself in front of him, hands landing on his shoulders harder than he meant too, but Steve doesn't flinch.
"Hey." Eddie breathes, his thumbs soothing over Steve's collarbones.
"You already said that." Steve says flatly, he's still staring at Eddie. Eddie's pretty sure he hasn't blinked since he hit the chair.
"Right. Yeah. Lemme try somethin else then." Eddie breathes, ducks forward, presses his lips gently to Steve's, feels Steve gasp against his lips and then feels his hands clamp down on his hips, hard.
It's a small kiss. Just a press of lips really, warm, and sweet, and gentle. But when Eddie pulls back, they're both breathless. Eddie vaguely hears Robin make that happy high pitched noise again, and clapping. And then any sounds from her are drowned out by the next song that clicks on, You Send Me by Sam Cooke. Eddie loves this song.
"You wanna dance?" He asks, brushes his nose against Steve's cheek, laughs when Steve follows him, trying to catch his lips again.
"I dunno. Are you a good dancer?" Steve asks, smirking at Eddie, though his eyes are shining and soft.
"What do you mean am I good dancer?" Eddie asks, feigning offense.
"Well... how do you dance?" Steve recites, sounding almost shy.
Eddie bites his lip, wraps his arm around Steve's waist, and pulls him tightly to his chest as he turns him further onto the dance floor, guiding them between tables with an out of character grace.
"Close. Very, very, close." Eddie breathes, his heart fluttering as Steve throws his head back and laughs, his arms circling Eddie's neck as they sway together, holding each other close as the music plays on.

“Don't pretend you're not fucking freaky, baby.”
The door to the dressing room bursts open shortly after you shut it.
In storms an enraged Eddie, appalled that you shut the door in his face after he had walked so closely behind you. You attempt to act clueless, counting your tips and separating them to help tip out the staff in the back.
"Here's uhh, 20 percent for Argyle," you announce. "20 for Nance, 20 for you. I’m sorry, I almost forgot to tip you guys out.”
Eddie crinkles the money in hands, eyes refusing to leave you at this point in time.
His tear-ridden stare is all-telling. First, he’s had to hear you get fucked senseless by Steve, one of his best friends. Now, he had to watch you dry hump Henry into literally the next day — another best friend of his — in an outfit he chose for you and bought with his own money.
You really did it this time.
"And that just leaves me with my tips," you add tossing your tote bag over your shoulder. "Also helped Johnny close the register. Everyone else dipped out to bar hop.”
"And you're clocked out?" he musters.
"Well duh, if everything's done."
You're given no time to react when Eddie lunges at you, causing your bag to sulk to the floor, the straps burning your forearms on the way down. You begin to levitate upwards by the virtue of Eddie's throttling grip.
"OW!" you yelp. "What the fuck, dude?!"
Eddie cinches his arm around your waist and hoists you over his shoulders. His breathing is hard, audible grunts escaping from all the tossing you around like a rag doll. You don't attempt to wriggle free, because if you did you feel like your forehead would meet the hard floor.
You smack Eddie’s shoulder blade.
“Put me down, Munson!” you order. “I’m not playing.”
“Yeah?” he grits his teeth. “Well neither am I.”
It's like a carnival ride in the dark. You can't see in front of you or off to the side. You just know the room is spinning. Fast strobes of light shooting across your periphery as you try to make up the orientation of the room.
It is when you hear beads being pushed to the side, that you know Eddie has brought you into a private show room.
Without mercy, but ensuring you landed safely, Eddie drops you from his grasp. You flail recklessly onto the couch. It’s not until you’re out of his grip that you realize how freeing his restraint felt.
You prop yourself up with your elbows, blowing loose strands of your hair away from your face.
"Ow?" you repeat, this time flatly.
"You're insufferable," Eddie hisses, berating you with his injurious glare. His gaze fixes on you as one of his hands ventures about his own body, undoing his belt with just one quick swipe.
"Says the one who literally just tossed me into a dark room," you snap. "Have you any etiquette?"
"Shut up," he demands.
If Eddie was hard to read before, he’s certainly not hard to read now. Now it’s time for him to get even.
The silver parts of the accessory clinks as he chucks it onto the floor, eyes glued on you the entire time. You gulp as he edges closer.
He stops in front of you.
"That set was for my eyes and my eyes only, by the way,” he hisses. “Thought I told you that.”
“Hm, was this before or after you told me you didn’t want to commit?” you challenge him. “I don’t belong to you, Eddie, remember?”
“You got me there,” Eddie shakes his head bitterly.
He stoops down to your level, getting down on his knees. Eddie's unbelievably close now, a strand of his curly hair dangling in your face as he exhales hot air down your neck.
"Do you really wanna play that game?" he asks. There's a riddle in his question. "Do you?"
Your eyes meet his. They're darker than usual, not that you believed that such thing was possible. Dark. Longing. Frustrated. Forewarning.
And for a second, they flicker back to the gaze you're used to again. Loving. Careful. Respectful. Like the look of concern he flashed you when you were cross-faded in his van, asking for him to stay a while. Like the time he made sure you were good enough to dance after being assaulted by a customer. Like the time Billy came storming in, causing you to spiral into a full-blown panic. THAT look of concern.
Are you sure this is what you want?
It is.
"Yes," you gulp, consenting to whatever wrath of his you’re about to face. "Yes, I do actually."
And just like that, the animalistic gaze returns.
His throat bobs when he swallows as he verifies with you one last time.
"Yeah?"
You nod. "I said what I said."
Back to the scheduled programming it was.
It’s not long until Eddie throws himself on top of you, smacking his eager lips onto yours like it’s oxygen. You hungrily bury your hands in his hair, moaning as your tongue inserts itself into his mouth to lock itself with his.
Eddie groans and moves a hand to your throat, issuing a light squeeze while he grinds himself against you.
“Fuck,” you mewl, the second your lips break apart. “Needed you so bad, Eds. Needed you all night.”
“You aggravate me, you know that?” Eddie sighs, burying his head into your chest, kissing along your tits as he does so. He strokes your bicep lovingly as he kisses you.
“Yeah, well the feeling’s kinda mutual,” you attempt to giggle as tears of overwhelm trickle down your face. “The feeling’s mutual.”
“Do you,” Eddie pants as he unbuttons and tugs at your set. “Remember Heather? My lady friend.”
You nod between breaths. “Mhm. Why?”
“She — never ended things with me.”
There’s a slight pause on your end. “Oh?”
“She never ended things with me,” Eddie continues. “I ended things with her. All cuz I wanted to get to know you and it wouldn’t be fair if I kept her around.”
Your bottoms are off now and the top of your set hangs loosely at your abdomen. You chuck it off of you instantly, refusing to look away from Eddie as you do so.
“Wh-” is all you can get out.
“Why do you think I was so grumpy and irritated that morning?” Eddie questions, moving his lips up to press against your neck. “Huh? I was upset that Harrington got to you first. Didn’t wanna get in between you guys though…”
“Eddie…”
“And inviting you to BYOB night?” Eddie pants as his free fingers curl around your inner thigh. “I only ever invite the people closest to me. You were the only outlier that night. Feel like Steve knew right then and there something was up. But he chose to ignore it.”
His fingers trace your entrance but he keeps them there, kissing up and down your neck as you breathe deeply under him. You pout and tug at his jeans, aching to have him inside of you this very instant.
“And I didn’t intend on fighting your brother that night, and for that I’m so sorry,” Eddie sighs. “But I saw how scared you looked and how aggressive he was being with you, and I knew if I didn’t intervene it was going to be the last time I saw you.”
Eddie hands cup your breasts as he nibbles at your ears, sucks at your temples, and leaves gentle bites at the crook of your neck.
“I’m avoidant, and stupid, and dismissive, and a fucking idiot,” Eddie admits to you. “But I care about you so much. Believe me, Hargrove. I know how this shit looks. I’m just so scared.”
“Eddie…” you soothe him. “Eddie. Just shut up and fuck me already.”
His eyes nearly pop out of his head when he hears you say that. Eddie shakes his head in disbelief to oblige.
“Don’t gotta tell me twice.”
Grabbing you by the hips, he shifts to reposition you, sprawling you out on top of him. You grind yourself atop his stiff erection as his hands caress every inch of your body. Unable to contain yourself any longer, you unbutton his jeans and pull them down with his boxers, exposing his throbbing cock right underneath your already soaking cunt.
A small string of pre-cum leaks from his scarlet tip.
“How bad do you want me baby?” Eddie coos.
“So bad,” you whimper. “As bad as I was tonight.”
He can’t help but laugh. When you say that, Eddie’s tongue rolls sneakily around in his cheek.
“That’s really bad,” he comments with a shit-eating grin.
“Mhm,” you nod innocently.
“You know what happens to really bad girls though, right?”
“They get punished?” you guess. “AH!”
You’re given absolutely zero time to react again when Eddie slams himself into you. God, he’s huge. God, he burns. You wince in the most pleasure-filled pain you’ve ever been in your entire life as Eddie shushes you, thrusting slowly into your heat as he fingers your mouth.
“Good girl,” he encourages you. “That’s a good girl. Being so brave for Daddy, huh?”
You struggle to even nod, diverting all your focus to accommodating Eddie’s length and girth. He proceeds to rock into you slowly, intertwining a hand with yours with one hand, and letting you suck hard on his fingers with the other.
Slowly, Eddie slides them out of your mouth so they can enclose themselves around your neck. You whimper as he does so. And slowly but surely on your end, you feel yourself stretching to make room for him, the slickness of your wet, and already sore pussy aiding in the process.
“I need to piss you off more often,” you joke. “If it gets me punished like this.”
Eddie groans. “Please don’t. I hate seeing others have you.”
He pulls you into him and repositions you onto your belly, and lining himself up behind you.
“My two best friends?” he demands in anguish. He swoops in to plant gentle kisses against the back of your neck. “Baby, really?”
“I’m sorry,” you breathe. “I’m really sorry, Eddie.”
“Yeah, we’ll see how sorry you’re about to be.”
“FUCK!” you squeal as Eddie deals you a rough spank across your asscheek.
He smiles grimly as you moan into him, arching your back as you beg for his cock to ruin you some more.
“I need you Eds,” you groan impatiently, grinding against him like a cock-drunk whore. “Eddie? Daddy? Master? What do you want me to call you?”
“Sweetheart, you can call me what you want,” Eddie kisses up your jaw. “I’ve been yours since the day I met you.”
He shoves his fingers back into your mouth as he inserts himself into you from behind. You mewl as you take in that familiar stretch, surrendering to Eddie as he proceeds to drill into your cunt relentlessly. The screams you let out as you unravel underneath him are like music to his ears.
No one has ever been able to hit it this good. No one ever made you feel this good. Not your first love. Not your last boyfriend. Not Henry during the lap dance. Not even King Steve.
"Who does it like me?" Eddie asks. "Huh? Who fucks you better than me?”
"No one," you admit as you wail, hands gripping tightly onto the throw pillow on the couch. You pull it towards your chest to hug it for comfort. It’s like you can feel Eddie in your stomach. “N-no one — FUCK — no one does it like you, Eddie."
He twists your hair in his hands and pulls you upwards towards him.
“Who does this pretty little pussy belong to?” he demands. “Hm?”
“Y-you,” you answer. “It belongs to you.”
A shockwave spreads across your body as Eddie quickens his pace, making sure to hit the spongey part of your heat with every thrust. He stops at the last one, making sure it stays there just a while longer.
“Oh, shit!” you moan, digging your nails into the couch. “Fuuuck, Eddie…”
“I know…I know…” he soothes you. Eddie sarcastically shakes a head at himself at the crook of your neck. “That was a mean one, huh?”
Tears well in your pleasured-filled eyes.
"Aw, she's crying," he mocks you before giving your hair another firm tug. "Can't take me, sweetheart? Can't take my cock?"
Eddie's words, albeit cruel, were deemed just for the moment by his reassuring touches. The delicate rubbing was all you needed to know that it was him asking, "Are you okay? I can stop if you'd like."
But despite being fucked out, you couldn’t find it in you to tell him to stop. You wanted more, you needed more. To make up for all the ‘almosts’ that there had been. And there were a lot.
“Don’t stop, Eddie!” you chant. “Don’t stop, don’t stop, don’t stop. Oh FUCK, right there…”
You feel him smiling to himself as he places you in a headlock between his forearms. With the newfound leverage he acquired, he pistons himself into you sloppily, a pleasure-filled groan escaping from his mouth as well.
“Oh fuck!” Eddie moans. “Fuck, you feel so good, sweetheart. Jesus fuck, you’re gonna be the death of me.”
Suddenly he pulls out.
You whine at the sudden retreat, turning and staring up at him with disapproving eyes. He chuckles.
“Don’t worry,” his kind smile reappears, only to be eclipsed again by that same dark gaze. “I’m not done with you yet.”
He releases you to pin you onto your back so he can pound you in missionary.
As he pistons his hips into you, Eddie whispers to you sloppy somethings, saying how much of a brat you’ve been all day and how he’s nowhere close to being done with you yet.
You feel a euphoric stretch as the crook of your heels dangle over Eddie’s shoulders. He reinserts his fingers into your mouth to muffle your screams. The overstimulation of all your senses are sure to drive you over the edge.
“Wish Henry could see this,” he tuts. “He’s probably fucking his fist right now at the thought of you.
“Ah!” you whimper. “You’re gonna make me cum, Eddie.”
Your core starts to tighten and your walls follow suit, suctioning themselves tighter around Eddie as your muscles squirm and pulsate against him.
“Little does he know his best friend and boss is fucking your brains out instead,” he heaves. “Fucking drilling you into this couch hm?”
He chokes you as he sneers, fucking you deep with a pace so fast you’re sure you’re seeing stars. Was this really happening? The air fills up with profanities and the sounds of skin slapping together, wet sloshes accompanying said slaps. You continue screaming Eddie's name as your legs dangle in the air. Eddie cups your breasts for maximum leverage.
"So fucking needy," he comments. "Never seen anybody get so dumb over some cock.”
"Fuck," you mewl. This was it this time. His words are going to send you over the edge. “I’m gonna cum, I’m really gonna cum. FUCK, EDDIE!”
"I am fucking, baby," he smirks down at you smartly. "Daddy's got you. All you gotta do is take me."
“Shit,” you squeal. “Holy fucking shit, I’m cumming!”
"Take it," he orders. "Take it like the slut you are."
"Oh, god,” your vision starts to blur. “I-I’m Daddy’s Little Cumslut.”
"Yeah, you are," he agrees, kissing your tear-filled cheek. "Mine and only mine.”
And suddenly, your legs tremble profusely as your body gives out on you. Eddie fucks you through your orgasm, not seeming to care when you drench his abdomen and thighs with your pleasure-filled juices.
“Holy fucking shit, I just squirted,” you gasp.
“Fuck yeah you did, baby!” Eddie chuckles. He kisses your forehead one more time. “Fuck, I’m getting close too.”
And soon Eddie’s moans fill the air as he finishes inside you. You grind your hips against his and ride him from underneath, milking him of the last of his seed. Eddie’s dick twitches inside of you in pleasure.
Eddie shoots you a hazed-filled look, one of adoration and lust.
“I’m really gonna let you ruin my life, huh?” he says as he shakes his head.
“It depends. Do you accept the risk?”
“Fuck yeah, I do.” he stares down at the puddle you two created have created on the couch. One mixture was already dripping down from the couch to the floor, and the other mixture is just now oozing out of you, now that he’s pulled out. “And did.”
You two help each other up from the couch and scatter to find the clothes you’ve aimlessly tossed around the room. When you’re fully dressed, you scan the room for some paper towels, so you can wipe away any evidence of you and Eddie staying behind long past closing.
"Might as well clock in," Eddie banters. "We've got a lot of cleaning up to do."

Eddie thinking he's a suave ladies' man as he tries to talk to you but realising he has no game whatsoever. You find it endearing.
Tumblr media
Minors dni, Eddie being adorable and flustered, fluffy fic.
Don't copy, reuse or repost my work.
❤️
In his head, he thinks he's suave, charming and a ladies' man but in reality, he blushes and makes a doofus of himself in front of pretty girls.
Eddie has a major crush on you and he doesn't know what to do. He couldn't stop thinking about you.
He spends most of his time talking to Uncle Wayne or the guys, they are used to his chaotic energy and goofball shit.
Most girls ignore, roll their eyes at him or call him "freak"
The small few that do notice him, who have flirted back, who he's met at shitty dive bars don't stick around long.
You were talking to Chrissy, he opened his mouth to say hello but his voice came out all squeaky and made him curse himself out in his head.
So when he saw you for the first time he acted like he was confident, cool and shit but in reality he was a mess inside.
To him, you were beautiful, sweet and an angel on earth, some mythical type of elven princess from LOTR, a goddess.
Chrissy looked at him all sympathetic and introduced you to him while he called himself several names in his head.
He missed the shy smile you sent his way, the intrigued look as he skulked off in the opposite direction hoping to forget the disaster of a first meeting.
✨💕
After that Eddie attempted to show off while he was near your vicinity. Hoped you would notice him while he was strutting around like a peacock on the Hellfire lunch table and throwing his daily insult at Jason.
It might have worked in theory if he didn't notice you actually staring over at him one time and he froze, like a deer in headlights.
Kinda like this.
Tumblr media
Then as he jumped off the table he managed to trip over his own feet, face plant on the floor and shoot back up like nothing had happened.
He really hoped you didn't notice that.
But you did, the Hellfire boys snickered in the background until he gave them one of his death glares and they shut up immediately.
He was so pathetic at this. In his mind, he was certain he was all cool and suave but in real life he was having no luck wooing you.
Rock stars wouldn't have this problem he told himself sullenly with a pout on his face.
A pout that you thought was cute as fuck, however Eddie didn't know that yet.
❤️
After a little while Eddie was ready to give up, he tried speaking to you but got all tongue-tied and overacted to show that he wasn't sweating his ass off while you looked at him with your pretty eyes.
He was forced to realise he didn't have much game as he thought he did and was considering asking Steve for help. The chicks all loved him right?
Stupid, stupid son of a bitch he berated himself as he stomped to away from his usual spot in the woods still sulking.
With minutes to spare until he had to get to class, he grudgingly gets up.
Just one week left until he graduated this hellhole he consoles himself.
His army crawling to a D in Miss O'Donnell's class finally paid off.
Then you walked up to him as he got to the school entrance and he felt his heart stutter in his chest.
"Hi, Eddie" you murmur and you sound like you are nervous, shy too just like how he feels.
Why were you nervous? Did your friends tell you he was mean and scary or something?
"Hi, uh sweetheart" Yeah, nice going doofus he scolds himself.
"I was wondering if you had a date for prom?" he blinks, once, twice, then shakes his head.
He planned on avoiding prom like the plague, conformist bullshit he told himself. Though if he was honest he would have sucked it up and gone for you. If you wanted.
Not that you would ever ask but he would.
"Nah, not my thing sweetheart" is it his imagination or did you look disappointed? You had guys ask you for weeks but you turned them down much to the relief Eddie felt when he saw it happen.
"Oh, okay. I just thought if it was your type of thing then maybe we could have gone together but it's not so uh cool" You look up at him through your lashes and he thinks his brain short circuits.
...
You, the most beautiful girl he had ever met in his life wanted to go with him.
"Why would you want to go with me?" he asks stunned because hasn't he been making an ass of himself for weeks and weeks now? Months even.
"Because you're cute, endearing, actually to me you're super fucking hot and I struggle to know what to say around you"
Did he end up getting to class after all and he was daydreaming? No... no this was very real and he shrugged off the nerves he was feeling and grinned.
"Milady, I would love to go to prom with you" The look on your face, the joy makes his heart ping in delight.
"Great, I really like you, Eddie" You move closer to him and before he knows it he's kissing you and you're kissing him back and everything is fucking incredible.
❤️
The rest of Hellfire was stunned as you joined their table and settled on Eddie's knee while kissing his cheek.
He heard Jason's shout of shock and lazily flipped him the bird, he was too into his girl to notice.
His, you were his. He couldn't believe it.
"Dude, how??" Lucas asked him stunned, mirroring Dustin and Mike's look, he winked at his sheeples and shrugged.
"Couldn't resist the Eddie Munson game could you princess?" you giggle and press a kiss to his lips and he basks in the glow of your beaming smile and that gorgeous giggle.
Eddie felt like a rockstar, 86 was his year, just like he suspected.

a/n: hey y'all I have finally caught up to all of my work that I did in advance so this baby was written in the span of two hours and has not been proof read so if there are any mistakes, no they're isn't!
Eddie Munson wasn’t the jealous type. Far from it. His jaw wasn’t clenched because Steve Harrington was flirting with you. And it definitely wasn’t because you weren’t turning him down like most regulars. Maybe you needed the tips? Fuck, Eddie thought he would give you a hundred dollars to stop talking to the retired King of Hawkins high, especially because the Hair’s eyes were like magnets, drawn to your cleavage in your black lace corset. He hated to admit, but the madonna costume you sported for the Hideout’s Halloween Howler suited you. Your tits were pushed up to the gods, your hair big and curly with a bow on the side, and your tulle skirt barely covered your ass. Your legs were lengthened by fishnets and slouchy boots. Your signature smoked out liner and plum lipstick matched your costume perfectly. Steve was dressed up like a werewolf. Eddie rolled his eyes when he saw the jock walking in with Robin and Nancy behind him. But, maybe you were into guys that did costumes. He looked down at his sliced up Hideout shirt and he scoffed thinking about his own pale face. You had laughed at him when Eddie chastised you for not knowing he was a vampire, but now he felt self conscious. He continued to pour tequila for the group of screaming girls in front of his section of the bar while you chatted up the werewolf on your side. Eddie heard you purr “this one’s on the house” and touch Steve’s arm, and the metalhead just about short circuited. Eddie could admit that you were attractive, and that he was thankful that the two of you had gotten closer over the past few weeks. He eyed the blondes in front of him that had been eyeing him the whole night. He hastily poured shots, three for the girls in front of him and one for himself. He pushed the shots in front of them and downed the tequila down his throat. He screwed his eyes shut and the only thing he could see in the darkness was the interaction that the two of you had when closing the bar last week.
-
Your face was screwed into a frown as you wiped up the last inch of your side of the bar. You leaned against the bar with a sigh. The night had been long and busy, but Eddie’s eyes always found you, whether you were clearing and wiping tables throughout the bar, fixing broken pool tables with a hip check, or serving your regulars at the bar. He also noticed how your eyes raked over him when you thought he wasn’t looking.
“Rough night?” Eddie asked.
“Ah, well, if you consider getting your ass grabbed by that fucking Creel guy over there” you gestured your thumb behind you “then yeah, pretty rough. The prick hasn’t left me alone since. Sincerely thinking he’s gonna be waiting at my car when I leave.” You laughed and shook your head. You didn’t notice Eddie’s face hardened and his cheeks flush red while you recapped your night. He breezed past you, eyes glued on the offender, your eyes followed him and panic made your chest heave when Eddie slipped past you and out from behind the bar.
“Where are you going?” you questioned. Eddie’s eyes met yours but they didn’t soften.
“I’m going to take care of it.” Eddie didn’t give you a chance to stop him. He grabbed the older man by the collars and pulled him out the front door. Within minutes, the mop headed man walked back in the bar shaking his fists which were bruised and covered in blood. You yelled out to Eddie and ran to him, cupping his hands.
“What did you do?” you gulped.
“I fixed the problem.”
You spent the last half an hour of the now empty bar being open with Eddie sitting on a stool with you in between his legs. You smelt like floral perfume and Jack Daniels. Eddie felt his heart fall to his knees as you made purchase in his space. You couldn’t help but steal glances at the boy in front of you. You had always thought he was cute and mysterious, but now that it was just the two of you, he looked soft, almost innocent (which was ironic seeing the situation you were in). His pearly complexion was littered with soft brown freckles. His hair frizzed around his head like a halo. As you cleaned up his hands you noticed the subtle muscle the boy had. His biceps flexed slightly under his black tee and his tattoos flexed as he pulled away in pain. You would squeeze out small apologies.
“You don’t have to worry about anyone touching you again, as long as I’m here.” Eddie murmured, too shy to say anything too loud and scare you away.
“Thank you, Eddie. You didn’t have to do that.” Your eyes flickered to his lips and you pulled yourself in closer to him. He tilted his head down to meet your lips. As they dusted against yours, you pulled away, unfortunately remembering where you were. Eddie cleared his throat and hopped up from the stool and thus ended your encounter and conversation for the end of the night. He didn’t even walk with you through the parking lot like normal - he hopped in his van as soon as the clock struck 3am and screeched onto the highway.  Did you do something wrong? Were you making up signals that he was sending you? He wanted to kiss you and you wanted to kiss him - but after work where you could tell him how you felt.
-
Eddie’s eyes flickered open and he shook his head, erasing the thought from his mind and the alcohol from his tongue. He turned to see you eyeing him. When your eyes met, you rolled yours and turned back to the customers in front of you, Steve not too far down the bar. Maybe it was the alcohol in his system, or maybe it was the fact that Eddie was jealous, but he strutted up right beside you and puffed his chest out at Steve, who was, very obviously, making heart eyes at you.
“Hey man, are you finished ordering? Because we got a crowd and you’re taking up bar space.” Eddie grumbled at the perfectly manicured quaff of hair standing before him. He wasn’t lying per se, there were quite a few patrons that night, but they weren’t all waiting for their drinks.
Steve scoffed at him and made eyes at you; you scoffed and rolled your eyes at Eddie and turned back to the older woman dressed up like a devil. You couldn’t stand being close to Eddie since your interaction last week, you thought you might not be able to handle the rejection, or any advancements that he would make towards you. It didn’t however stop you from shutting him out completely and trying to move on. You spoke to Eddie without turning to face him.
“Steve is my guest, he’s allowed to sit at the bar if he wants, Eddie. Take the stick out of your ass.” You chuckled as you heard the man behind you gasp. Eddie looked to Rick, working tables and signaled him to take over the bar. You suddenly felt a bruising grip on your arm as you were dragged towards the back entrance of the bar and to the break room and out the back door.
“What the fuck Eddie!” you spat.
“Tell him to fucking leave.” Eddie demanded. His voice was low and calm, but there was a fire in his eyes.
“Are you kidding me?” You laughed in his face. “Don’t tell me Eddie Munson is Jeal-” Your words were lost in your throat as Eddie slammed his hands against the wall beside your head and caged you within his arms.
“Did I stutter?” Eddie's eyes were dark and you couldn’t read his expression. You searched and waited for him to leave, or to say something to you, but he stilled; his face mere inches away from your face. You had to resist the urge to pull him into a kiss, but your heart thumped and you felt like you were going to suffocate. You needed him to move, to do something. Without warning his lips were on yours. It wasn’t sweet. It wasn’t longing like your other kiss was supposed to be. This was primal - territorial. He was letting you know who you belonged to.
It was a gnashing of teeth and tongues, but you couldn’t help but moan into him. The release that you had been longing for, that thread between the two of you had gotten so tense, you were happy it finally snapped. Eddie’s mouth trailed down your neck. You whined while he sucked a hard hickey by your pulse point. You hoped Eddie would soothe the pain radiating from the spot, but there was none. This was not about being sweet or gentle. He wasn’t trying to win you over. He knew he had won - he was just taking what was his and making sure you and everyone else knew it.
“E-Eddie” you moaned. “We can’t do this now…” Eddie detached his mouth from your throat and replaced it with his hand. He added light pressure to stop your words in their tracks.
“You don’t tell me what to do. Now you’re going to be quiet and you’re going to listen. Or you’re going to push me off and never fucking talk to me again.” He bored into your eyes, waiting for you to move against him and trot back through the door to the blaring music on the other side. But to his surprise, you grabbed his wrist that was choking you and pushed down harder. Eddie’s expression flickered from domination to surprise to complete arousal. He pressed into your neck, eliciting a moan from your lips as you felt dizzy.
Eddie trailed his hands down your body as he sank to his knees. He hastily pulled your thigh up on his shoulder and pulled your fishnets apart by your core. To his amusement, he could tell there was a wet patch on your panties, even in the dim light. He slapped his ring finger across your clothed pussy, sending shocks up your body and leaving you yelping in pleasure.
“Did I get you all worked up, doll?” Eddie slapped again, making your legs heave. “Or did Harrington get you all hot and bothered?” Eddie’s eyes looked up at you expectantly. “Answer me!” He barked.
“It’s for you, Eddie… All for you” you moaned.
“Good answer,” he smirked. Without hesitation, your panties were pulled to the side and his mouth was on you - and he sucked down hard. You cried out and the man looked back up at you pointedly. You bit your lip as you watched him probe your pussy with his tongue. You looked around hastily, desperate for more contact, but petrified someone was going to drive around to the back of the parking lot and see you - or worse, your boss would come out for his smoke break.
“Eddie” you gasped. “We’re gonna get caught!” Your body language didn’t match the panic in your voice. You bucked against Eddie’s face, making the boy moan. He took one of his big hands and pressed against your abdomen, pinning you to the wall.
“Then be a good girl and cum for me,” Your world went fuzzy when you felt Eddie’s tongue press into your throbbing hole. Your mouth formed a wide o as you gasped for air. Eddie felt like he was going to bust in his pants at the way you clenched around his muscle. He needed to see you fall apart for him and then he needed to mark you as his. He replaced his tongue with his fingers and migrated his mouth up to your sensitive clit. You bit down on your lip as your orgasm barrelled towards you. Eddie reached up and put his free hand in your mouth. You moaned into his dextrous fingers and sucked down hard. Eddie’s pornographic moan sent vibrations through you and threw you over the edge. Eddie lapped at you like you were the last thing he was ever going to taste. He stared up at you, watching how you came undone. When he felt the shaking of your thighs subside, he dropped your leg and flipped you over so your cheek was pressed against the cool brick wall. Eddie’s large hands pressed into your hips, assuring you would have fingerprints to remember him by in the morning.
With a couple of pumps at his angry cock, and he pressed into your spent pussy, giving you minimal time to adjust to his stretch. You didn’t see it, but you could feel that Eddie was exceptionally well endowed. His cock filled you deliciously and your breath hitched against the wall. Eddie gave you a brief pause to breathe when he was fully sheathed inside you. You both paused with heaving chests as headlights passed the side of the building, but turned away from the two of you. Eddie pulled out completely, making you whine at the emptiness; but you didn’t have to wait for long to be filled again, because Eddie slammed fully into you, eliciting a yelp. His veiny hand snaked around to your neck and pressed down again.
“I told you to be quiet,” Eddie chided. “Let me fill you up and you can go back to your fucking boyfriend” Eddie’s words felt like venom in your ear. You felt like you could barely speak, Eddie didn’t let up his pace.
“Hmph… not my… boyfriend” you managed to rasp out. Eddie let out a dark chuckle.
“No, huh? Would you let Steve touch you like this? Would you let Steve taste you? Would you let him choke you, doll? Do you think he could make you cum like I can?” Eddie pounded into you harder and tears threatened to spill out of your screwed shut eyes.
“No, Eddie. Fuck!” You cried.
“You gonna cry over him, doll?” Eddie sneered. He wanted you to feel bad, but more importantly, he needed to know that you chose him - and that this isn’t a one time thing, you will continue to choose him.
“Eddie!” He could feel you fluttering around him again, you were close. He could feel the knot in his own abdomen tightening. He thrusted into you harder, hitting your g-spot and making your hands fly to the wall in a weak attempt to ground yourself.
Eddie thrust with every word he spoke: “You’re. Not. His. You’re. Mine.” You nodded and Eddie put more pressure on your neck. You both groaned as your climaxes hit. Eddie’s hot ropes of cum painted your insides - his dick twitching sending you past pleasure into overstimulation. The hand that was still on your hip helped hold your shaky legs up.
You felt Eddie’s soft hair rest on your exposed back. You both were too fucked out for words. Begrudgingly, Eddie pulled out and flipped you over to face him. You were flushed and your eye makeup looked more smudged than it did before. Eddie traced his thumb over your cheek to wipe a dark blot of watered down mascara off your cheek. You shifted underneath his gaze, his cum spilling out of your spent pussy.
“You’re gonna go inside and finish the night and I’m gonna drive you home so we can talk, okay?” You shook your head quietly at him. He peered down to your lower half. He pressed his fingers back into you to push both of your essences back into you then pushed your underwear back into place. He looked at you once he removed his fingers and popped them into his mouth. You stared aghast, with your jaw slacked.
“And I’m going to serve Harrington for the rest of the night. Got it?”
“Got it” You peeped. You straightened your skirt and rolled your shoulders back as you swung the door to the bar open. The Time Warp bled out into the October air. You turned back to Eddie and flashed him a small smile, then you were gone.
Eddie smirked as he pulled a cigarette out from behind his ear. Yeah… Harrington was going to have a pretty shit rest of his night.
