I just generally love 02x08 Raving so damn much though.

Not just because of the Spark Stiles moment that's stored in it.

It's also because that episode was, and still is, what unlocked Pack Mom Stiles for me.

Stiles alone with Erica and Isaac, who so far have been snarky and cocky and pushing around. But left alone with Stiles in this episode, they both defer to him. He takes the lead, they take the backseat. They follow his orders and commands. They agree to what he tells them to do.

And it clicks all the better considering last episode, Scott officially, verbally agreed to join Derek's pack. Kind of meaning that Stiles also joined the pack.

So, the moment Stiles joins the pack, the betas start following him and his orders.

And it goes even beyond that. This is the episode that first really features Stiles bringing his dad food, healthy food. Watching out for him. Showing his love with food. Which is one of my favorite things to see reflected in fandom by Stiles taking care of the pack by making them eat good/healthy/at all.

This is the episode that really kickstarted Pack Mom Stiles.

i only just finished episode 3 of season two but damn

season two is fucking Stiles over hard -> he literally cannot catch a break even into episode 4

in just these three episodes, he's been: 1. worrying about Lydia 2. singled out by Harris who point blank tells him that he wishes he could legally physically hurt him 3. dragged through the backrooms of a police station, back-alley kidnapping style [where he's nearly attacked by Isaac before Derek steps in] 4. and bashed over the head with his own car start-up

and none of his friends ask him if he's doing alright 😭

“I don’t know any stories” Derek deadpanned at Stiles’ insistent poking. The shadows from the bonfire making his scowling face even scarier.

“Derek, you have to know a story. You were literally raised by wolves!” Stiles insisted, still poking at Derek’s arm because he had no survival instinct.

“Stiles, we came here to relax and catch up with each other, why are we telling scary stories?” Derek complained, looking around the circle. Not a single one of his betas seemed to agree with him.

“We have a bonfire going, Derek.” Erica explained, like that made any kind of sense.

“Why else would we have lighted the fire?” Isaac asked, like Erica’s logic was a universal truth.

“Because we are telling spooky stories!” Stiles agreed.  “And you are the only one who hasn’t said anything. Even Lydia said that terrible story of the woman serial killer. It was good.” 

Derek grabbed Stiles’ finger in a loose fist to stop him from poking him again, and raised both eyebrows at him in a way everyone around them knew was a threat, but Stiles seemed to think was a game, because he waggled his eyebrows back and smiled at him. If he was anybody other than himself, he would be bleeding. Instead, Derek just sighs and drags both his hands through his face.

“Our lives are scary stories.” Derek mumbled against the palms of his hands, but still sat down straight and looked around the circle once more. “I remember an old tale, about a witch.” He said, giving in. Stiles sat back down, excitedly waiting for Derek to continue.

Everyone around the bonfire leaned closer to their Alpha, paying attention to the story while trying to not burn their marshmallows. Stiles couldn’t be happier to be spending the summer with his Pack.

Retreading old haunting grounds

In season 2, Deaton told Derek he shouldn't trust Peter and, without directly mentioning Scott's name, led Derek to believe he should trust Scott. Derek later found out this was because Scott and Deaton were working together behind his back in order to betray him and his pack.

From the start of season 3A, Derek no longer trusted Deaton or Scott and actively tried to tell Scott to stay out of it because of how deep that betrayal and violation of his bodily autonomy had cut.

But he still trusted Stiles.

Even though he wanted nothing to do with Scott and despite Stiles and Scott being friends, Scott's betrayal didn't taint Derek's trust in Stiles.

We saw this not just from Derek and Stiles' direct interactions and the implied summer they worked together to track down Erica and Boyd, but also by the fact that Jennifer, through her virgin sacrifices, knew the way to earn Derek's trust and seduce him was through copying the interactions Derek had had with Stiles. (Which in itself implies Derek was already developing "complicated [romantic] feelings" for Stiles at this stage.)

That deep level of trust in Stiles meant Derek either didn't think Stiles had a part in Scott and Deaton's plan or found out directly that Stiles didn't know what Scott and Deaton had done.

If Derek talked about it with Stiles, it was just enough to find out for himself if he could still trust him. He may have told Stiles part of why he didn't want to involve Scott, but not the full story.

Stiles' interactions with Scott would've been colder or more confrontational like we saw in season 5 if Derek had told him that Scott had taken Derek's paralyzed body and forced him to bite Gerard. Some of that was definitely glossed over, possibly Derek not wanting to rock the boat by potentially straining Stiles' relationship with both himself and Scott.

During or after season 5, Stiles would be much more open to receiving the truth of what happened, given his own falling out with Scott. If Stiles told Derek what happened to him, Derek might open up a bit about what had happened back in 2x12 but I'm not sure how much he'd go into his past trauma. Peter is the more likely choice to bluntly fill in all the details given he doesn't like Scott and doesn't care to spare Stiles' feelings over the issue.

But I've gone off on a tangent. The main point is how deeply Derek trusted Stiles from the very start of 3A despite Scott's betrayal at the end of season 2. He trusted Stiles enough for Jennifer to be able to use that to manipulate him and, even then, his trust remained rock solid to the point of Stiles becoming his anchor by the end of 3A.

3A is not a typo. We didn't see Derek using Stiles as an anchor until the Sterek dream at the end of 3B but the lightbulb moment for him was at the end of 3A - it's why he was so dedicated to saving Stiles during 3B.

I’m looking for a fix it of S2 E12, Master Plan, where Stiles is kidnapped and is in the Argent basement with Erica and Boyd. If I remember correctly, Stiles ends up more hurt than in canon and, when saved by Chris, convinces him to release Erica and Boyd. Instead of leaving them Erica and Boyd follow Stiles into Chris’ car and he drives them all to the hospital (for Stiles, that is, Erica and Boyd and all healed up at this point). The Sheriff finds out about Stiles being in the hospital, visits Stiles and ends up begging Stiles to tell him who hurt his son so that they can press charges. Stiles is hesitant since he’s not sure he’ll be believed before telling his dad that Argent did. I think Stiles ends up in the hospital for awhile and some of the pack visits him. I vaguely remember Stiles asking where Derek was and it was implied that he was watching over him from afar? I can’t remember if this was a Sterek fic or not but I know that it’s probably either a Teen rated fic or rated Mature due to violence.

i only watch teen wolf and religiously watching the mcu and in my opinion, it was clear from the get go they will never make sterek/stucky happened. i'm saying this with respect but they are just riding the wave. especially sterek.

Yeah, i did watch teen wolf and the mcu and sherlock and ouat and i gave up spn once it really bad (s7 was my limit) but like, sure, there was enough subtext that with the promo and the fandom, people got lost in their own hope. And the 100, Jason hated us. I know what it is like to be queerbaited. I know what it is like to be hated by the showrunner. This is not it. Buck's ex called Eddie the competition. Buck's sister said it wouldn't be crazy if Buck was in love with Eddie. IN THE SHOW. It's not implied. It's not an interview. The concept that there is more going on between Buck and Eddie was introduced to us IN THE TEXT. Along with a gay man scoffing at the idea that Eddie is straight. IN THE SHOW. Now they keep talking about buddie, Ryan just called Oliver his love interest. If this is queerbaiting, this is beyond evil. This is actually diabolical if there's no follow-through planned.

Reminder that Sterek is a fictional ship, Derek never actually hurt Stiles, he was emotionally drained because of being groomed and losing nearly his entire family, Stiles risked his life several times to help or save Derek, and the movie itself fucking implied that Derek may have had feeling for Stiles.

So if you scream that Sterek is "p*dophilic" or "abusive" go touch fucking grass, it's not that fucking deep
