30 Day Writing Challenge Day 1
Prompt: Write about a first kiss
~~~
When Tasha was old enough to learn about love and romance, her mother told her she would feel a special spark. By that point, James Chase had already stolen a kiss from her at the lake and she felt nothing. Coupling that with the fact they were eight and she only saw him as a friend, she never counted that as a first kiss.
However, Stephen was different. Her feelings for him were real. So when she wrapped her arms around his neck, she was sure that spark would happen with him. She waited for any signs that he was uncomfortable with her actions before standing on her toes to place her lips on his.
He didn’t return the kiss immediately, which almost made her pull away. That was until his arms encircled her waist and pulled her close, warmth could be felt between them. Kissing Stephen’s soft and moisturized lips was nothing like the peck she received from James’s chapped ones, plus she wasn’t feeling as awkward as she did then. She could even hear her heart pounding in her ears.
Soon, the need for air surfaced, and they had to pull away, too soon for Tasha’s liking. As they locked eyes, she noticed his lips shined with her strawberry gloss, making her giggle. “Sorry. I got glitter on your lips.”
“It’s cool.” He chuckled while she raised her thumb to wipe off the gloss, inadvertently caressing his lips and fighting the urge to kiss them again.
“There you go.” She pulled her hand away with a bashful smile before her eyes diverted away from him. “So, does this make us a thing?”
Stephen lifted her chin to turn her eyes back on him. “Do you want us to be?”
“I don’t know,” Tasha said while shrugging to keep her composure cool, worried he’d reject the idea of them being more than just friends. “I wouldn’t be against it.”
When a small smile crossed his lips, she released her breath as he said, “Then we’re a thing.”
Tasha fought back a squeal as she wrapped her arms around him and laid her head on his shoulder. She couldn’t wait for the girls to hear about this.
Just then, the night sky lit up with colorful bursts of explosive energy, making her gasp.
“They’re so beautiful,” Tasha complimented the fireworks as she gazed up at them with a wide smile.
“Just like you.”
Her cheeks warmed at his words.
New Scotland Yard: Nothing to Live For (2.1, LWT, 1972)
"Any sign of her in there?"
"No. Odds are against it, I suppose."
"What, being there?"
"Being alive."
#new scotland yard#nothing to live for#classic tv#1972#tony hoare#bryan izzard#john woodvine#john carlisle#lynn farleigh#philip madoc#mark jones#charles morgan#raymond adamson#john peel#stephen white#peter kenton#victor harrington#john tatham#NSY's second series debuted just 3 months after the first had finished; presumably audiences still had the events of 1.13 fresh in their#minds and so not a huge amount of time is spent raking over why exactly Carlisle is in uniform and now working for the traffic unit (in old#tv cop shows‚ a fate worse than death; it makes you wonder who exactly Does work in the traffic units and why they aren't in a constant#state of furious rebellion at their apparently miserable station in life). of course things are quickly sorted out so that he's back with#old pal Woodvine... well‚ they do at least seem to find each other tolerable company here. he's been demoted to sergeant tho‚ so we'll see#if that sticks. the case of the week is a rather sad one about a dead child and the possibility that euthanasia was involved; this is#cleared up but becomes another kind of case when Madoc's grieving father snaps and grabs a gun. old fave Phil is very very good here#giving the kind of subtly moving performance he so often did. Farleigh fares less well; she's very good but this script is quite nakedly#misogynistic I'm afraid‚ with her character variously depicted as a neurotic mother in denial‚ a vengeful scorned woman‚ or a needlessly#spiteful cuckolding wife. it's a pretty hateful bit of writing which stands out like a sore thumb compared to the empathy the script#affords Madoc and Mark Jones (as the Other Man‚ who just happens to be the late child's biological father).#particularly disappointing bc Hoare's work on the series (and on other shows like Villains) was previously so well written and nuanced
Happy Halloween season! Here's another stab at my own take of Carrie White, based on her book description. I'm super happy with how these turned out! I'd love to tackle some of the other characters in the book eventually, especially Margaret!
Carrie is fat in the book. Learning that completely blew me.
The use of pigs blood makes so much more sense. The reason she was bullied so relentlesly, even though she does nothing to nobody, makes so much more sense. The relationship with her mother makes so much more sense.
I know they aren't going to, but I wish they would cast someone fat in this new Carrie adaptation. From the articles I've seen, they are already speculating which skinny actress it's going to be.
How many times can they tell the story the same exact way? The answer: endlessly.
I don't know what's worse the total erasure of fat people in movies or the only story we get to see ourselves in are the love yourself fatty movies.
💜 + Cosette Bellefleur
I did just lie entirely yesterday about answering things but I am today let's go
Emmeline Fitzherbert (Emmeline just loves all girls okay but also she'd be so sweet with Cosette, instant adoration and wanna be her friend and girlfriend)
Ginevra Gothel (I don't have anything I just feel it)
Evelyn Villeneuve (Just different Beauty and the Beast girls idk I feel like they could be very close and she'd like her)
Stephen White (Stephen I feel like could be very very into her almost at first meeting. Probably the first VK he gets close to)
Send me 💜 + one of my ocs and I’ll tell you one (or more) of your ocs that gives me romantic vibes with them
30 Day Writing Challenge Day 11
Prompt: Write about two characters dancing together
~~~
A squeal bubbled in Tasha’s throat at the realization that things between them were good, but she swallowed it to maintain a straight face. “Well, if you dance with me, I might be persuaded to forgive you.”
With a warm smile, Stephen took her hand and pulled her onto the dance floor. Since Luna was now singing a slower and hedonic song, he took Tasha into his arms and wrapped them around her waist while hers went around his neck. “Not gonna lie, I did miss you.”
Tasha felt her cheeks warming as their bodies swayed in time to the music. “Did you?”
“Yeah. I’ve grown used to your smile brightening up the day that it felt bleak without you.”
Her lips finally cracked into a smile, this one showing off her perfect teeth. Tasha had to admit that it was nice for someone to appreciate her cheerful demeanor, unlike Lauryn, who acts as if it’s a burden. “Well, thank you. And I missed you too.”
“No, you didn’t,” he replied with a lighthearted grin that made her chuckle.
“Okay, I’ll admit that I was having fun with the girls. But I was worried about if our…thing was over.”
He pulled her closer and she got a whiff of that delicious cologne of his. “I don’t want our thing to be over.”
“Neither do I.”
He pulled back and twirled her in time with the music, causing her to giggle. “You’ve always looked like a beautiful princess to me.”
“Stop it.” Tasha was grateful that the party lights were dark enough to hide the red tint increasing on her cheeks.
“I will when you stop being the prettiest girl here.”
Tasha intertwined her fingers with his as they returned to swaying to the music. “Too bad there’s no one being crowned king and queen tonight.”
“As far as I’m concerned, you are the queen of the night.”
“You keep talking like that, I just might kiss you.”
