How are your thoughts with house of the dragon this season so far??

WHOOO-WHEEEE, thanks so much for asking lmfsksks. Okay so we're two episodes in and my thoughts are same as always, the greens can choke like ugh just aemond, alicent, ser criston, can't staaaand them.

AN INTERESTING DEVELOPMENT ON MY MIND RECENTLY is actually that I'm disappointed we're not gonna see more of Aegon (demon personified) and Helaena's relationship. Tom and Phia really put in WORK cause their interviews and stuff endeared that relationship to me quite a bit lmfsksks. I think it's sad that they had to BEG for the writers to put in that scene in 2x01 and there only scene in the entire season was supposed to be the one where they run into each other on the stairs, literally wtf.

SPEAKING of the scene on the stairs, what a great scene. I thought it was interesting to see Helaena. resist so vehemently against her mother, against the people of KL, but actually seem to WANT and be willing to grieve and go through those sentiments with Aegon but he leaves her hanging. They could've been a very interesting dynamic this season in particular and it's unfortunate the writers opted to not explore it further.

Everything about the writers is unfortunate, if the leaks are true and I do believe they are. Literally wtf are they doing. GRRM's rant the other day is making a whole lot of sense, I'll tell you that much.

Alicent and Rhaenyra shouldn't be idolise as iconic feminist. Because Alicent was indeed a victim of the pathriarchy but she still let his son be a rapist and become King. Rhaenyra wanted the crown and power not because she's a woman she just want to have power just for herself.

thoughts on the golden globe nominations?

Insane behavior to nominate Julia Garner for Inventing Anna while ignoring Toni Collette for The Staircase. Like. Objectively!!! Insane.

Imelda got nominated because they figured The Crown was better than it was this season... I'm gonna be real, Elizabeth Debicki was so good as Diana but was the material giving her something for a nom...? I don't know, man. I felt like Diana was barely onscreen much of the time, and didn't get a lot of *big moments*. Elizabeth didn't get the type of material Emma Corrin got, that's for sure.

None of the Drama series noms excite me... I do think Emma D'Arcy is very talented so I'm happy for them, but HOTD being nominated is a sign of the times.

Yay for Abbott Elementary and Hacks! Every nom they got was worthy. The Bear... is a comedy...? Okay.

I hate that Monster got nominated for Best Limited Series, such a fucking hackjob of a show.

AVATAR being nominated is... So ridiculously Globes. But who knows? Everyone is collectively gaslighting each other about those movies, so maybe we'll see it at the Oscars? EL OH EL!!!

Top Gun: Maverick being nominated is hilarious, and I say this as someone who actually did enjoy that movie for what it was. Like... stop the count.

I haven't seen Tar (yet), but I am getting increasingly annoyed at a movie that is apparently about Me Too but make it a ~predatory lesbian~ instead of Harvey Weinstein and "maybe cancel culture is bad" is... taking a lot of shine off better movies. Like. I know that everyone has a boner for Cate Blanchett despite her being a Woody Allen sympathizer, but? Maybe take a look at some of the commentary surrounding that movie? And its potential message? Yeah? Maybe consider why someone who stood by Woody would take that role, and the implications there?

Ana de Armas should not be getting noms for Blonde but okay.

Glass Onion's cast seems under-represented.

Yay for Michelle Yeoh, yay for Emma Thompson, yay for Ke Huy Quan, why is Jamie Lee Curtis being run for EEAAO and not Stephanie Hsu? Stephanie gave a POWERHOUSE performance in that movie.

The fact that The Fabelmans flopped getting a pass from awards outlets when it normally wouldn't get that pass... Just like West Side Story. Because Spielberg. Lmao.

Anyway, a lot of underwhelming noms. I honestly haven't felt jazzed about a lot of late stage awards contenders. For me, movies I saw earlier in the year (Everything Everywhere All At Once, most obviously) still reign. And same goes for performances. Insane!!! to me that we're talking about Cate Blanchett... again... for Tar, when Michelle Yeoh, Viola Davis, and even Emma Thompson gave the kind of performances that they gave earlier this year.

I feel like Best Actor for the Big Show could come down to Brendan and Austin, though it's still a bit early to tell. I have zero interest in seeing The Whale and I think there's a lot of valid critique surrounding it (and some that is less valid) but I'm not gonna lie, I love Brendan so I'd be happy to see him win after everything he's been through in the industry. Austin will almost definitely be nominated again at some point in his career, with the rate that he's going.

lordy I wouldn't even know where to begin, please narrow this question down lmfsksks. I hated S2, it was overall imo, absolutely awful. Why was Aegon the most interesting this season like hello????

It makes me really resent that they made certain narrative choices for him in S1 making him someone I personally will never root for cause otherwise he would've wound up being a surprise fave for me this season. Went into S2 wanting Helaemon(d) and came out of it, wanting Helaegon x20. Helaegon has it's interesting aspects. Justice for Phia and Tom having to beg for scenes together. And again, had they not made certain choices that impede me ever wanting it to succeed, it's something I in better circumstances would've liked.

Helaena was CRIMINALLY underutilized this season literally wtf. ALTHOOOOUGH, the last we see of her in S2 was absolutely fabulous. I love anyone and everyone who dog piles on Aemond cause he's the absolute worst and I am counting down the days till that mf gets a sword through his eye. It cannot come soon enough.

SPEAKING OF SOMEONE WHO CANNOT DIE SOON ENOUGH, LAAAWD JESUS, SER CRISPIN GOOOOO AWAAAAAAAAAY. Every second that man is on screen is a struggle. I do not care that he and Alicent are shacking up, I do not care that he seems to legitimately love her???? Like it bores me to tears, I just do not care.

Gwayne Hightower MVP, the actor is wonderful, such witty lines, good line delivery a n d interesting, how unfortunate that to see more of him, we also have to endure more of Criston. Separate the two and now we're cooking.

I, for all that is good and holy cannot stand Alicent. Don't get me wrong I despise all the dudes on team green 100x more and do sympathize in certain aspects as far as she goes, but she's not a character I like in any capacity.

Rook's Rest was the only good whole episode of the season, I said wtf I said. The dragon fight sequences were so good, I loved it despite hating the outcome because the side I'm on took the L.

Absolutely loved Aemond getting an absolute dumbass moment in taking out Aegon, the only other dragon rider on his side---for now---of any use to him. He gets heralded as this great strategic mind that imo he never has been. Let's have a chat on how Aegon was the more sound strategist in the beginning of the season??? Everything he wanted his council to do was the correct move given how everything turned out, but the angle was instead how much of a joke King he is. Which I don't understand this far in anymore as an approach tbh. Like I said, it's wild that he was one of the best characters this season and that's an awful pill to swallow cause fuck Aegon forever.

Otto absolutely losing his mind at the stupidity of the side he's on was excellent television. The way he just disappears was stupid though like some clues or something up until where we see him in the finale would've been great. The Daeron exposition was also not good writing.

I'm also just so tremendously sick of the Rhaenyra | Alicent kindred spirits or whatever it is they keep trying to maintain like if ya'll don't cut that shit out and let it tf go. I'll be a Rhaenyra loyalist forever but maaaaan they did her no favors this season. Jace and Baela not having substantial progress in their relationship nor much screentime is a Choice. And it's a choice that I do not agree with. OH BUT NO ONE FEAAAAR, WE GET WHAT SEEMS TO BE AN INFINITE AMOUNT OF ALICENT/CRISTON SCENES/REFERENCES.

Exiling Daemon to Harrenhal to have his Eat, Pray, Love journey after blood & cheese was certainly something. I think for the most part it worked well and I both liked and appreciated the intent. Daemon's arc basically being conquering his own inner demons and reaching a narrative place where he's realized and accepted that he's fine to not have the throne for himself but rather to support the one who does? Chefs kiss. It was great. Did it need to last all season long though??? No. The plot dragged a substantial amount, and what was a great narrative decision got a bit repetitive and boring by the end of it tbh. He is the best character of the entire show though; argue with the wall.

All in all, absolutely awful season. I haven't liked Ryan or Sara since their post S1 interviews and the writing of S2 has really solidified how dog shit they are at their jobs. The pre-S2 production delays makes a shit ton of sense now, not that it helped this show any.

Scenes I did like; PAPI CHULO CREGAN STARK, the first green council in 2x01 where it's mentioned how fucking dumb it was that Lucerys died, both Rhaenys and Daemon scenes lmfsksks, loved every Rhaenyra and Jace scene, all of Rook's Rest was great to watch, Helaena reading Aemond for filth on the balcony of her room was iconic, put that shit in the MoMA, Daemon seeing Helaena in his delulu spooky moments, I actually really liked the Helaena/Aegon scene in 2x01 where he's looking for Jacaerys. Ser Criston can get fucked but the scene where he realizes how lost the war is across all sides now that the dragons are truly involved was excellent. The Baela and Corlys scene was also absolutely fabulous. Daemon and Rhaenyra reuniting in Harrenhal uwuuu, and also the last sequence of the season, with Ramin Djawadi KILLING it as always with the soundtrack, was top tier.

Current thoughts on house of the dragon fandom?

My thoughts are that the post-season press of the season was absolutely horrendous. Every interview just made it worse tbh. Not a single person over there has it together, I feel. And hearing now that season two is on a what, three/four month delay?? That's not really surprising to me given how those writers were talking. If I'm not mistaken they just received scripts and are about to start filming, that is months of delay. And if the rumors are true that HBO had to go wrangle in grrm to fix the writers room, WELP let's just say I don't find that surprising either.

I side with the Greens & think Viserys was an idiot. Rhaenys was on point when she said they passed her over & Viserys would remarry and have a son that should inherit the throne.

Nobody would have given Winterfell to Sansa while she had 3 brothers for example. Dorne us the only place in Westeros where eldest inherits regardless of sex, sons come before daughters everywhere else.

You and I are opposites then cause blacks all the waaaaay. Viserys lived well past the birth of his several children with Alicent and refused to change his line of succession, it even gets repeated in his will upon his death, that Rhaenyra is to succeed him. Otto Hightower can kick mf rocks, lmfsksks. That man girl bossed too close to the sun.

book!Rhaenyra was 8 when she gets named heir, she's a bit older here but regardless, she's the better educated and by faaaar the better prepared. Her place as cupbearer to the small council can't be ignored. Just as I would say Arya learned quite a bit as a cupbearer for Tywin's war councils in Harrenhal, Rhaenyra learned quadruple that as she listened in on all the Kingdom's dealings and how it was managed. Westeros' law on succession is dumb af, shout out to Dorne for having common sense, imo.

It was not Rhaenyra's sons with Harwin Strong that survived either. It was Damon's 4 kids (twins with Laena & 2 sons with Rhaenyra) so it can be argued Aegon III & Viserys II were King via Daemon as well. I did find the Blood & Cheese thing to be awful. Jaeherys & Maelor's deaths were awful and I am dreading them. I felt bad for the kids, found the adults unlikable.

No, those sons don't survive. But her sons with Daemon do and one of them (Viserys II) continues a portion of the Targaryen line among others given the various marriages to other families, up until what I'm almost sure is asoiaf present day. I haven't seen the family tree in quite a minute though so I'd have to double check. BRUHHH THE BLOOD AND CHEESE THING IS SO BAD. Every time I see Mysaria I'm like oohhhh good grief, cause that plot is 100% her doing. Poor Helaena, cause oooof.

I get alot of the same vibe from Alicent fans and I used to get from Sansa fans. A little vociferous and justifying her actions with character traits that aren't really there. That said, Alicent is no Sansa and I hope people aren't really equating one with the other because that'd be an insult to Sansa 😅

If Viserys was in favor of having women inherit he should have backed Rhaenys and supported her claim, but instead he was fine skipping her & being King. I think Rhaenys would have done a better job than Rhaenyra & feel like Viserys was a clueless moron to name a daughter heir over his 3 sons, that isn't how Westerly works. It isn't even how the British monarchy worked until 2010 & not retroactively as Anne was not moved up in front of Andrew & Edward in succession order.

100% and that bares repeating when it comes to King Jaehaerys who had such an iconically good relationship with his sister/wife, Alysanne, that their quarrels were not only public knowledge, but well-documented. And the second of their fights, was Alysanne being in favor of Rhaenys inheriting the throne as it was her birthright because she was the sole child of their heir, Aemond. Even the best of Targaryen king's, arguably the best, chose a man over a woman. Now was that the right choice? Not a chaaaance.

Regardless of prior choices, he had a daughter and while it was through having had no other option, he publicly had her declared heir. But he upheld and honored it by refusing to disinherit her claim, even after the birth of his sons that those in his court would've preferred to displace Rhaenyra with. It wasn't clueless at all, she was older, wiser and raised to be heir. While her reign is a tragic footnote due to paranoia and the hightowers leaving the realm penniless, at the the time of her father's choice, she was the better choice and in imo, the right choice. I will never think otherwise.
