Stede Bonnet and his every amazing colour Auxiliary Wardrobe! I contributed four pieces to this beautiful zine but I actually drew a lot more. My original concept was to do a piece for every colour of the progress pride flag, and that proved ambitious but I am still cooking with that idea 👀

In the meantime please enjoy Stede trying on a fabulous corset and a red velvet bolero. This was actually an outfit prompt from @apex-nadir - thank you for sending me a gorgeous mood board for inspiration and I hope you like this fancy little Stede!

with the year coming to a close, its time to start thinking about some 2025 sewing goals!

starting off with... a soft shopping ban '''':) my stash is full to bursting and i have so many exciting projects i could make in there, theres simply no need for new things.

(im calling it a soft ban because im certain im missing things from all of my projects (notions especially, i usually only pick those as i finalise the design) and im not going restrain myself to my stash if a better choice is available, but it needs to be a purchase for a specific project only.)

ok on to the more fun things! im splitting my year into two (slightly uneven) sections- up until the end of may, im going to be throwing myself into costume work, and then from there i want to focus wholly on fashion & restyling pieces, as i have many, many things ive pushed aside for showy pieces in the past couple years.

for cosplays, heres the breakdown!

Lady Stede Bonnet is my main goal of the year, she will be what im putting the most time into. a (mostly) historical robe à la française inspired by Stede's iconic blue suit. i dont have any base layers to work from, so theres going to be so much to do before we get into the main dress! its a lot to look at, but hopefully at least some of these will be pretty quick makes! ive listed a few stretch goals, mostly accessories, but id like to get to them if time allows!

if i finish Lady Stede in time (or, more likely, if i get stupidly frustrated at any point and need to put her down for a little) im going to pick up Janet again! i made the skirt back september, and cut out the waistcoat too! i have the fabric for the blouse & was planning on modifying my anne blouse pattern for it, so it should be perfect for when i need something easy for a minute.

as an ultra stretch goal, i also want to make Froggie Senshi! ill talk more about it in its own post, but i think its going to be a great comfy casual cosplay for the end of a long weekend. ill only be working on this one if i have time & energy though! (id actually really like to get a group together for this one but... logistics yknow?)

either way, post may mcm, im taking a break from making costumes! im not sure exactly what fashion pieces i want to make yet, i think ill see how im feeling when the time comes, but im excited for it! ive been feeling a bit constrained by my wardrobe recently, so im hoping adding some fresh pieces will revitalise it :)

I've been thinking both about these calf-laced leather trousers and Stede's season 1 custom heels with the fabric bows. And it makes me want to put Stede in these beauties, which can accommodate those of us with Notable Calves, because of the lacing:

If he can comfortably practice fencing in the heels from season 1, he can buckle as much swash as he wants while wearing these.

Today with Sim!Ed and Stede: it's still winter, there is snow outside. They are having breakfast, in pretty lingerie (which is one item in each of their rotation of sleepwear and they coincidentally both wore it last night). Stede wasn't actually meaning to tempt Izzy when he bent over the way he did, but he did love having such a profound affect on him by doing things meant to be innocent. With no other intent. So when he turned back to face him, Izzy's gaze was leveled with his groin and he couldn't help but smirk. He seemed to be in a daze and Stede wondered what he was thinking... what he was imagining. Did he want to rip Stede's trousers off so he could see him completely bare? Did he wants his Captain to straddle him on the couch like he almost did had those damn bells not jingled? All of the above sounded very tempting to the Captain, but quite honestly, more than all of that? He wanted to gift Israel with the corset he bought him as a surprise. It would certainly make up for the hat, Stede thinks.

And that's the magic word that snaps Izzy out of his daze, making Stede laugh. With him sat on the couch and Stede still standing, it's the perfect positioning for Stede to be able to run his fingers through Izzy's hair on the side of his head, which he does just that a few times, and the last he gently tugs on his hair to pull his head back until he's looking up at him. "Mm, I did." He smiles, leaning down to press his lips oh so softly against Izzy's. "Close your eyes for me." He murmurs against his lips, his hand now pulling the hat off of his head, which was probably surprising of him to do but he wanted this moment to be a perfect one for Izzy. He wanted him to fully enjoy it without the hat he loathed causing a distraction or ruining the moment.

So he drops the hat onto the couch next to him and waits for him to close his eyes and once he does, Stede walks away.

He's in the closet for a couple of minutes again and walks out with two corsets. Izzy was only expecting one, but oh, Stede purchased two. One that matched the elf hat he loathed so much and a solid red velvet corset with white fur lining the top and bottom of it. The red and green corset was quite unique with the steal locks in the center and white straps down the sides, no bells on this Christmas corset. Stede loved both, but admittedly, he couldn't wait to see Israel in the red. It would look sexy wrapped around his waist, showing off his tits so perfectly, especially with the white fur juxtaposed to his black and gray chest hair. Oh, how the thought aroused Stede, already.

"Open your eyes." He tells him, holding both corsets out in front of him, excited for Izzy's reaction. Oh, how he loved to spoil him.

There had been a loud jingle when he found his seat.

But then Stede was bending over and THAT got his attention again, eyes wandering and getting the full view as it were as he plucked up that little leaf. Now he was in a bit of a daze, so the first words the man said didn’t register. One word, however, in particular did pull his attention. Light came to expression as he now watched him curiously. “ Corset? You got me a corset? “

Oooooh. The pleased sound that erupted from his throat then said it all. Maybe he’d wear the damn hat after all of the corset was a good match. .. if Stede let him out of their room in it, anyway. Izzy’s tits weren’t for everyone’s eyes.

ive finally made a mockup that isnt too big!!!!!!! its too small

stays mock up 4: i think we are getting somewhere

so this is the one with the changed panels, but not the first first mock up of it- the first i did was once again, too big, and also i really didnt like the boning channels on that panel, i felt like they needed to wrap around the body more. i took some radical chunks out of my pattern & a bunch of other little changes from mock up 3, and this is what i ended up with!!

despite the size issues, and the fact that my lacing strips refused to play ball this time for some reason, i feel like im getting somewhere! the main body is giving a good shape throughout now, the lines of the pattern feel better, it just feels like we are slowly progressing in the right direction.

im definitely feeling like somethings not quite with the tabs, though im not sure what yet... more research needed i think. (if you know anything and have any suggestions please let me know!)

ive marked out some changes to boning channels im going to make (mostly in the tabs) and im gonna add i think... 3cm overall back in to the circumference (1cm to each side of the front, and 5mm to the centre back) which should fix the size issues (i worry its too much, but i keep seeing that itll shrink when i add layers, so im having faith)

i think the next thing i want to focus on is the length of it- im getting some wrinkles over the hips, and im not sure if i need to be pulling it up, or i need to split my tabs more? ill play around & find out. i also feel like its hitting preeeeeeeetty high at the top (for the undergarment, anyway) so. ill think on shortening (but again, im worried about going too far)

also! shift sneak peak! only one gusset so far, but i think it works pretty ok :) ive marked an initial cut for the neckline, but ill probably need to take off more yet
