''Gorgeous, can you come here for a minute?'' your husband, Robert, asks as he walks into the kitchen and gets seated at the large kitchen island.
''I'll be right with you, Angel,'' you say as you finish cutting the tomatoes needed for dinner. Tonight is spicy pasta bolognese day, and you've just put the garlic bread in the oven to go along with it.
When you're done with the prep for now, you walk over to his side of the kitchen island and go to stand between his spread legs, your hands resting on his chest, his laying on your hips.
He looks at you with a small smile, and the butterflies in your stomach erupt in a wild flutter; your heart skips a beat or two. Even after all these years, you love him more than anything. He's your world, and you're his.
Do you have any plans for tomorrow? Aside from packing for our trip to Hawaii, of course,'' he asks, and you shake your head with a confused look.
''Good, because I want you to get your nails done and pick out a beautiful dress for vacation. I have made a dinner reservation in a pretty fancy restaurant, and I want my amazing wife to be the most beautiful woman on the island,'' he says, making you blush at his words and grin sheepishly.
''Are you sure? I have plenty of beautiful dresses already,'' you say softly, but he's sure he wants you to get a beautiful dress to make his surprise even more special.
''Yes, Gorgeous, you can find the most beautiful, amazing dress and get your nails done. If you want to, you can even get your hair done too as a treat; I know you've been wanting to do that for a while,'' he says, one of his hands running through your hair.
You have indeed been thinking of dyeing your hair red, but you've never taken the plunge, afraid of what people around you would think. But Robert is telling you this as the last push to go and get your hair done.
''Okay, I'll get my hair done as well,'' you say, leaning forward to give Robert a peck on his lips. When you pull away, he follows you and places just a few more before pulling you in for a much-needed hug.
''I love you so much, Gorgeous, and I can't wait to spend an entire week in Hawaii together,'' he says before letting you get back to preparing dinner.
That evening, you had some delicious pasta with homemade garlic bread followed by apple pie from your Grandma's recipe. Now, you two are just cuddling on the couch, watching TV, and enjoying each other's warmth.
Watching a movie you've both never seen before, two steaming cups of tea, a few lit candles, and some soft touches make the evening complete. You sigh contently in Robert's arms.
Before you know it, it's time to go to bed, but instead of sleeping, he had a different idea, which you're okay with.
''Let's have some fun, Gorgeous; I've missed you today,'' he whispers as his warm breath glides past your neck, his hands unclasping the hooks of your black lace bra.
The goosebumps on your neck are unmistakable, and so is the arousal between your legs. Your panties are already soaked, and he hasn't even touched you. It doesn't surprise you that he has this effect on you even after all these years, though.
Robert may be a few years older than you, but he still has the stamina of a young man, and you're very thankful for it. You spend countless nights making love until the sun rises; even then, you still can't keep your hands off one another.
When it's unclasped, he slides the straps down and releases your soft, warm breasts from their confinements, your nipples immediately perking up as the cool air in the room hits them.
A soft moan escapes your lips as his hands envelop them, squeezing softly as your head falls back against his shoulder. His fingers rub circles around your nipples before caressing and rolling them between his fingers, which have your hips bucking forward at the touch.
''Oh god,'' you moan as he keeps working your nipples, and they're very sensitive, which makes every single skilled touch only better. Combined with the soft kisses on your neck and shoulder, your head is already reeling, and you can't wait to feel what else he has to offer you.
When his hands glide down to your stomach and to the edge of your matching black panties, you gasp when he slides his thumbs underneath the edge, pulling them down for you.
''C'mon, Gorgeous, let's free these beautiful legs of yours,'' he says with a chuckle, and as he slides the panties down, he plants soft kisses on your back before giving one on each of your butt cheeks.
You step out of them without effort, and he throws them aside, leaving you bare before him. His fingertips glide from your ankles over your calves and up your thighs until he's standing at full height, his bands resting on the skin where your thighs meet your hips.
''Look at you, Gorgeous, you're an absolute Greek goddess,'' he tells you before turning you around and pushing you onto the bed with a soft thud. His dick starts to chub up a little at the bounce of your breasts.
You lean back onto your elbows as you watch Robert undress, his shirt quickly thrown across the room, followed by his sweatpants, which reveal that he's about half hard and not wearing any underwear.
When his pants have met the same fate as all the other clothing, he leans forward onto his hands, caging you in between his broad body and steady hands before kissing you deeply, swallowing every sound that dares to leave your lips.
When he pulls away, you're a little breathless, and he allows you to just lay back with your head on the pillows, your hair spread out like a halo around it. Tonight, you can be his pillow princess and let him take care of your every need.
''Look at you, Gorgeous, letting me treat you like the Goddess you are,'' he says between small, soft kisses on your breasts, down to your stomach, and ultimately his end goal; your pussy.
He takes his sweet time with you right now, buttering you up first before he takes what he wants. His long, thick fingers spread your lips apart, revealing the juicy, pink flesh that he loves so much.
''You're already so wet, Gorgeous. All from me just touching you?'' he asks, and you reply with a soft yes. He slowly inches closer to your exposed flesh, blowing some of his warm breath on it to make your hips buck up at the feeling.
''A-Angel, please!'' you whine, and Robert can't help but smile before his tongue flattens, licking a stripe from your entrance to your clit, licking up every last drop of arousal.
One of his hands is holding you down as it's wrapped around your thigh; his other hand is interlaced with yours to ground yourself. Your other hand is holding onto his hair, pulling harder as you get closer.
''Cum for me, Gorgeous, let me taste your sweet nectar,'' he says before sucking your clit, between flicking it with his tongue and doing all the exact things that'll have you falling over the edge in no time.
''Oh, fuck! Angel, 'm cumming!'' you scream out as your back arches, your orgasm washing over you in powerful waves, and Robert keeps going to extend your pleasure for as long as possible.
''You taste so delicious, Angel; I can never get enough of tasting you when you cum for me,'' he tells you, trailing kisses over your stomach before stopping at your breasts, giving both of them some more love.
''Iloveyou,'' you babble as you're coming down from your high, and Robert can't help but smile at the mess he's already made of you. And he enjoys doing it over and over and over again.
''I love you too, Gorgeous,'' he whispers in your ear before nibbling on your earlobe, earning himself a breathy moan in response. He has you right where he likes you, though he plans to spend time with you tonight.
''I want to make love to you, Gorgeous; I want to make love until the sun comes back up until it goes down again. I want to be buried deep inside you for as long as possible,'' he tells you, and you can't help but smile at him at the thought, looking at him through half-lidded eyes.
''Please...'' you say, and when you feel Robert's hard cock rub between your folds and get caught on your entrance, your back is arching up already, needing him to give you want you want already.
Your hands find their way around his neck, and you pull him down for a deep kiss, needing to feel him as close to you as possible. When his tongue softly dips into your mouth, you can feel him lining up with your dripping entrance and pushing in.
The stretch is as delicious as ever and has you moaning loudly as you adjust to his length. He's always a lot to get used to, even after being together for this long, but you wouldn't want it any other way.
''Fuck...'' you breathe out as he slides in up to the hilt, capturing your lips with his in a sweet, passionate kiss. You're feeling somewhere north of heaven when he pulls back before pushing back in and repeating that same motion.
The sound of his balls hitting your ass and the sloshing sound coming from you are damn near driving you insane, but what does it for you is the eye contact.
The way his dark brown eyes look deep into your eyes has you feeling like he's looking straight into your soul. When you're about to let your hand glide down his back, he reaches for it and holds both of them above your head while continually thrusting at a slow pace.
''That's it, Gorgeous, doing so well for me right now, you're perfect,'' he whispers between soft kisses on your neck.
He can't stop himself from looking into your eyes, and it doesn't take long for him to find your sweet spot, your soft whines and moans turning into louder, uncontrollable sounds.
Your brows are furrowed, and your jaw is slightly slack from pleasure. Before you know it, he picks up the pace a little bit, and you fall apart around him, squeezing him for every single drop he's worth.
''Fuckin' hell, Gorgeous, squeezin' me like a vice,'' he groans as he keeps working you through your orgasm, and before you know it, he falls over the edge, too, shooting every last drop inside of you.
''Love you so much, Gorgeous. Can't imagine anyone being as sweet and amazing as you are,'' Robert whispers as you come down from your high, a sheepish grin around your lips.
He pulls out and lets himself fall to the side with a soft thud before pulling you into his arms for cuddling. You let a deep sigh escape, and before you know it, you've fallen asleep and don't notice him cleaning you up and putting a pair of cotton panties up your legs.
That night, you slept like a log and had the perfect dream about Robert professing his love to you in the best way possible.
''Angel?'' you say before walking into his office, and he looks up at you with his reading glasses, giving him an even sexier look than when he's not wearing them.
''Hi, Gorgeous. Is there anything I can do for you on this beautiful afternoon?'' he asks in his deep voice, and your stomach flips.
''Well, I was just coming in here to say goodbye; I'm heading out to get my nails done, as well as my hair afterward,'' you say as you step between his spread legs, his hands sliding over your thighs up to your ass where he squeezes gently.
''Alright, can't wait to see what you're coming up with, but I already know it'll be beautiful no matter what,'' he says, and it heats your cheeks slightly.
''Remember my credit card, everything will be on me today,'' he says before holding it between his index- and middle finger. You bend over to kiss him, and you grab the card before turning on your heel and walking out of his office with one last goodbye.
Your first task of the afternoon is getting your nails done, and you already have a few designs in mind but want to stick with a classic white design so it'll go with everything you choose.
Ultimately, you settle for a white and silver glitter set that was done by your usual nail tech, though you haven't had too much time to visit her lately.
''It's good to be back,'' you sigh as you let her perform her magic, transforming your short, crusty nails into a beautiful new set, and you instantly get reminded why you always get them done by her.
Your feet are also getting a little treatment, and you opt for plain white nail polish on your toenails to match your fingernails. A few hours later, you're done at the nail and hair salon, and you feel like a brand new woman as you walk out the door.
Your red hair shines beautifully in the sun, and after taking a few pictures with your brand new hair color, you go on with the rest of your day, but only with getting an iced coffee first, especially since Robert will be paying for it.
Now, there's only one thing left: finding the perfect dress to wear to dinner during vacation. This is more challenging than you may have thought initially because there are too many options.
In the end, though, you find the perfect dress for the occasion, and you can't wait to show him everything, already excited about his reaction. In the past, he has always reacted positively to you changing your appearance, so you're getting impatient on the drive home.
You can't stop looking at yourself in the mirror, admiring your hair constantly when you're at a traffic light. The closer you get to your home, the more antsy you become, and when you finally pull into your garage, you practically fly out and back to your husband.
''Gorgeous-'' is all he can say before your lips are smashed onto his to show him how thankful you are. Without letting go of his lips, you jump and wrap your legs around his waist, and he catches you effortlessly.
''Thankyouthankyouthankyou!'' you mumble between kisses, and when you finally let go of his mouth and face, you can't contain your smile any longer.
''Oh my god, you're beautiful with this hair color; I'm glad you finally decided to do it,'' he says as he runs his fingers through the strands, letting the silky curtain of hair slide through his fingers before pulling it to his nose and inhaling the sweet scent of the apple shampoo they used at the salon.
''I got a bottle of the shampoo and conditioner in the same scent, too,'' you say softly, and Robert hums appreciatively before putting you down on the floor again.
''Can I see those nails you had done, as well?'' he asks, and you hold out your hands, letting him look at your nails, and they compliment your wedding ring beautifully.
He brings your hands to his mouth and kisses each knuckle with a soft bush of his lips, making your breath hitch slightly and your heart skip a beat or two. It's incredible how such a soft, gentle moment can make you melt into a puddle like never before.
''There aren't enough words on this earth to tell you how beautiful you look right now, Gorgeous, but I'll ensure you that you will most definitely be the best-looking woman on the entire island next week,'' he tells you.
Suddenly, you remember that you left your dress in the car, and you run back to grab it and show it to him as well so he can pick out an outfit that will go perfectly with it.
''Do you want me to try it on?'' you ask, and he confirms that he does want to see it on you, so you walk upstairs to the walk-in closet and get ready to change outfits.
You're wearing the dress in no time, and Robert's patiently waiting in the bedroom for you. When the moment is there for you to walk in the door, you hear him gasp audibly, and you twirl a few times to show off the white floral dress you bought.
''Wow, Gorgeous, you look like a Goddess in this dress,'' he whispers, and you can't stop your excitement from bubbling over, so you jump onto his lap, peppering his face with lots more kisses.
''Thank you, Robert, thank you for spoiling me the way you do every single day,'' you say before he captures your lips again and doesn't let go for a while.
It is precisely one week later, your 10th wedding anniversary today. The day started in the most fantastic way, with Robert waking you up with his head between your thighs, pulling a few orgasms from you before he filled you up, and drawing two more orgasms before he would even think of his own.
The afternoon was spent sightseeing with Robert's son and your stepson, Indio, while a few of your very close friends and family members were setting up your surprise on the beach.
Now, you're getting dressed for dinner, or so you thought. Robert is wearing a pink suit that matches the flowers on your dress perfectly, and the fact that he's wearing his shirt half-open has you ruining the panties you just put on.
"Gorgeous; before we go out to dinner, I want you to know I have a special surprise for you on the beach. The two of us will drive there, but I will have to blindfold you before we arrive. Are you okay with that?" he asks as he takes your face in his hands carefully.
"Of course, I trust you," you say with a smile, and every last nerve seeps out of his body. He seals your words with a soft kiss, and when you're dressed and ready to go, he grabs your hand.
You two drive for 10 minutes before he parks the car in an almost empty parking lot, grabbing a scarf to tie around your head. "Are you sure you're still okay with this?" he asks, and you nod.
When the scarf is around your head, you drive another few minutes, though you're still determining for how long. Once Robert announces you have arrived, you start to get nervous despite trusting him completely.
"You can leave your heels in the car because I don't want you to get any sand in them," he says softly, and you take them off before letting Robert guide you out of the car.
"I'm going to carry you for a bit, and once I've put you down, you can take off your scarf, Gorgeous. We're almost at your surprise, so you don't have to wait long," Robert assures you.
And he was right. Once your feet hit the sand, he takes off the scarf slowly to let you adjust to the light, and once he takes it away completely, you gasp at the sight in front of you.
On your left and right are sitting close friends and family, and at the end of the aisle is the same officiant who was at your wedding ten years ago as well.
"Gorgeous, on this day, I want to renew my vows to you. Not because they changed that much, but as a token of our love, because I will promise to love you forever and always, and this is just a little way for me to show you that," he says, and the tears are already streaming down your face.
"I- I can't believe it," you stutter out before the two of you walk towards the front of the aisle, hand in hand. Your dress flows beautifully in the sea breeze, and you feel Robert squeeze your hand when you're at the front.
After the officiant opened the ceremony, Robert started by telling you his wedding vows, and now you feel bad you don't have any. But what you didn't know is that he came prepared with yours, too.
"They say that a friend overlooks your broken fence and admires the flowers in your garden. And well... when I met you almost fifteen years ago, you saw something I didn't see in myself. You became my best friend, and when you agreed to be my wife, I didn't think things could get any better than that moment. But the past ten years have shown me that I never once dreamed big enough because our marriage has been filled with more happiness than I ever imagined possible." he finished with a big smile.
"I love you," you whispered before he handed you your wedding vows.
"Robert, on our wedding day, I promised to be the best wife that I could be to you. I had yet to learn what the next ten years would bring or how much the universe would test my skills. We've built a home, traveled, dined, and danced around the world - hell, we even survived two backpacking trips – which I still really appreciate you going on. During all this, we have written our epic love story together. I hope I've been the best wife I could be for you because you've certainly been the best husband for me, and I'm excited to see what the next ten years are going to be like."
All your closest friends, family, and loved ones are trying not to cry, though it's tough. For the two of you as well, mainly because you never even knew this was something he had planned.
"You may kiss your... well... your wife!" the officiant jokes, and Robert pulls you close to him and captures your lips with his in a breathtaking kiss.
Under loud applause and cheering from everyone in attendance, you pull away and run down the aisle together, ready for the rest of your lives.
Your surprise couldn't be any better, but little did Robert know you had been hiding a little surprise of your own. One, you couldn't wait any longer to tell him.
"Robert, I have to tell you something!" you say when you reach the starting point of the aisle again, and the two of you stop dead in your tracks.
"You know how we've always talked about expanding our family, right? Well, that dream will be coming true because, as of today, I am officially three and a half months pregnant," you say as you slap your hand over your mouth to stifle your sob.
"A-Are you... Really?" he asks, his hands instantly moving to your belly when you nod.
"You're going to be a Dad! Again!" you say, and his reaction catches you off guard. He runs back down the aisle until he's at the beginning again.
"Everyone, we have amazing news! I'm going to be a Dad! Again! She's pregnant!" he exclaims happily, and you can't help but enjoy every last second of his reaction.
"I love you, Gorgeous!" he exclaims from his side of the aisle.
"We love you too, Angel!" you yell back at him, holding your stomach protectively. Now that the secret is out, you don't have to hide anymore and can finally live your life to the fullest.
With your husband, stepson, and future child on your side, you can conquer the world.

eve, hi! your 2ha-qws au is so so good! mo ran's regret and his thoughts of the underworld ("Maybe then he’d reach the underworld mostly intact, and he wouldn’t scare Chu Wanning too much when he saw him." my heart) are amazing. cwn's not even there and you can really feel based on mr's thoughts how much he sacrificed for mr. it's heartbreaking. i'm really happy you did a little fic with your idea. if you ever do more, i'll just have to sit and wait excitedly!
Hi, Lu! I’m glad you liked my qws-au! (ノ´ヮ`)ノ*: ・゚I’m testing it out, since I’m writing something larger, but I couldn’t resist to writing it. Like, the busier I am in rl, the more inspiration I get OvO It has come to the point it has a more complete outline and a title (which means, unfortunately for my schedule, that I’m going to write this, albeit slower and in shorter segments).
I have named it “Yearning unwittingly breaks the willow branch” (无令长相思,折断杨柳枝), the phrase the fox demon tells Mo Ran when he hands him the box with Jiangui. Let’s leave it at yearning willow for short 😂
Willow branches in Chinese poetry, particularly broken ones, means “regretful parting”. It basically comes to “to yearn for the wrong person will lead to bitter partings”, which is 2ha and this fic summed up in 10 neat characters XD
I have a second chapter written, which I’ll probably post here this weekend, and it has enough length now (for my own standards) to be posted to ao3, which I’ll do this weekend as well.
I can’t stress enough how thankful I am for the interest you and other readers have taken into this fic! It’s really encouraging to find people that like what you write, so you have my eternal gratitude °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°
As thanks, I offer you a ficlet. I hope you like it!
Yearning willow masterpost here 🍃
Mo Ran 2.0 (1)
“Who are you?”
“What do you mean, Wanning?” Mo Ran laughed, though his voice was constricted under the weight of his husband.
If anyone entered Honglian House now, they’d be taken aback by the sight. Or rather, they’d start preparing for the funeral of the marquis’ husband.
Mo Ran was lying on his back on the bed, his arms pinned tightly at his sides by Chu Wanning’s legs. Said man was striding his abdomen, a hand clutching a handful of Mo Ran’s hair, and the other one pressing a sharp dagger in his neck.
But Chu Wanning didn’t care, because this man wasn’t his husband.
“You’re not Mo Ran,” he said in a cold, sharp voice. “Who are you? A Northern spy? Or an Eastern assassin? What have you done with him?”
The man was wearing his husband’s face alright. He pulled tentatively at his hair, but it was rooted firmly in the scalp—the hair was real then. He examined his neck meticulously, but found no marks of a mask, nor trace of make-up.
However, Chu Wanning had read about the magic some Northern tribes practiced, of the many tricks Eastern kingdoms knew of espionage. He didn’t need to know what had been used exactly, because something was terribly amiss.
Instead of an answer, he stared at him with those dark eyes, with an almost purplish quality to them. So similar to Mo Ran’s, and yet, not his.
Mo Ran never looked at him with such tenderness.
He’d have never stood still under Chu Wanning like he was now. The real him would have thrown him down by now—gods knew Mo Ran had that strength—maybe even slapping or punching him, and he’d order Chu Wanning to kneel in the shrine to repent for his disrespect towards his husband. All of those would have been more agreeable behaviour, because it would be ordinary.
“Why do you think I’m not him?”
Chu Wanning sneered.
“You didn’t do your investigation very well,” he said, pressing the dagger more firmly against his neck and extracting a drop of blood. “Mo Ran doesn’t come to Honglian House on his own accord.”
The rest of it was too embarrassing to tell to an outsider, and much more to one that didn’t know the actual state of the relationship between them. He cooks sometimes, Chu Wanning thought, but never makes a portion for me. He would have never called a doctor to attend to me, nor would have him come to my bedside to see me.
If it was in his fancy, he’d have just taken Chu Wanning, doctor’s orders and his own agreement be damned.
Quick as lightning, Chu Wanning pressed down with his thighs when he felt him trying to extract a hand.
“Don’t move!” He snarled.
His legs trembled with the effort, and his knees protested under him, despite being supported by the soft mattress.
“Okay, okay,” the impostor acquiesced, relaxing under him. “See? I’m not moving. Don’t overexert yourself, you’re still recovering, okay?”
There was worry in his voice, Chu Wanning realised, his hand twitching where he was grasping his hair.
“What have you done with Mo Ran?” He asked again after a moment, trying to recover his senses.
If he spent a moment longer with this impostor that had Mo Ran’s face and voice, he’d go mad.
The impostor merely looked at him with a helpless gaze.
“I’m really not some impostor,” he said. Before Chu Wanning could say anything, he continued, “let’s see, what can I tell you to make you believe me?” He was deep in thought for a second. “Ah! You have a blade scar in your chest, just above your heart!”
Chu Wanning pondered on that, but shook his head almost immediately.
“You could have seen that when I was unconscious.”
Unnerving as it was, it seemed the impostor wasn’t in the slightest bit nervous, even though Chu Wanning hadn’t relaxed his hand on the dagger on his neck all this time. He merely looked at the canopy over them, as if he was being asked a question over tea.
“I remember…” he said, his voice much lower than before. “I remember that in our wedding night, we were like this, with Wanning on top of me.”
…
Like a cat bristled with water, Chu Wanning jumped backwards, jolting to the corner of the bed. The dagger fell on the floor resoundingly, and Mo Ran sat on the bed, smoothing out his rumpled clothes, with a boyish smile with dimples. The smile felt apologetic, and somewhat guilty, but Chu Wanning was too flustered to process that.
He…
He had to be Mo Ran. Only Mo Ran knew.
For all he had been a scoundrel since they married, he didn’t talk about the matters of the bedroom. Not to him, not to anyone.
Besides, in the months after their marriage, he had let many people believe he had gone directly to Mu Yanli’s room straight after the banquet, instead of coming to Chu Wanning’s first and then leaving for hers.
The night of his wedding. It was an unpleasant memory, and he pushed it far to the back of his mind.
He smoothed his own clothes as well, but kept himself in the far corner of the bed. For now, he should focus on what he could manage.
“You let me put a knife to your neck,” he said, incredulity swarming his features and his voice.
For much less he had been ordered to kneel in the shrine. However, the present Mo Ran didn’t show any indications of wanting to punish him. The young man picked up the dagger from the floor and put it on the low table in front of them.
The tray with food Mo Ran had brought was on top of the table. The food was still warm, still steaming—Chu Wanning’s attack had taken a short time. Mo Ran picked up the bowl of congee with minced sea bass and green onions and a spoon, and sat back on the edge of the bed, offering a spoonful to him with a bright smile.
“I know my Wanning would never hurt me.”

Honglian (红莲) means “red lotus”. It was the name of Chu Wanning’s pavillion in the novel.

Encore - Harry Hook x Reader - part 19 - fight
=
You let out a sigh, looking into the slowly rocking glass of water you had been swirling around. You and Harry had recently fought so now you sat dejected in your kitchen. and it wasn’t like you hadn’t had one before, it's just….this one had hit a bit harder than the last.
It all ended in Harry storming out of your apartment and slamming the door behind him back to his world. It had been three days since then.
And now you sat in your lonely little apartment, watching as the rain beat down on your winders and echo throughout the seemingly empty room.
You took a shaky breath and downed the rest of your water, standing from your kitchen table and walking over to the sink, placing your cup inside, and dragging yourself over to your room.
You flipped onto your bed and curled up under the blankets, burying your face into Harry's pillow.
You felt your nose burn as the sea salt, woodchips, and metal filled your senses. You missed him.
Three days with not even a text or updates from him. You had fought before but he had never left your side for long, sometimes never leaving in the first place, just sitting in the other room until the both of you calm down.
But three days with no contact worried you.
You huffed and picked up your head, laying your chin on the pillow and staring with droopy eyes at your closet door. “maybe I should go first?” you muttered, rolling over and continuing to stare at the door upside-down “but I might make him even madder by not respecting his privacy” the burning at your nose got worse, and you blinked harshly as you scrunched it. Blinking open your eyes, the room around you blurred as tears trailed from the corner of your eyes.
“fuck” you chocked, reaching up and rubbing at your face “god, fuck, shit, ass, cunt”
You gasped as a calloused thumb brushed away a tear from your cheek, you sat up, letting out a low sob as you stared into the shining ocean blue eyes of Harry Hook. “hey” he whispered, leaning towards you and wrapping his arms around you, picking you up and sitting on the bed, setting you on his lap and holding you to him tightly. “I’m sorry my love, it was a stupid fight”
You didn’t respond, rubbing your face into his shoulder and sniffing. You didn’t even remember what you had fought about, it had just escalated so fast. “forgive meh?”
You just nodded into his shoulder, unable to speak around the lump in your throat. Harry let out a relieved sigh, he brought his hand up and thread his fingers through your hair, rubbing his fingers against your head and completely encasing you within his body.
The two of you spent the next couple hours in comforting silence, listing to the rain beating against the apartment and the other's soft breathing.
You had almost fallen asleep to the sound of Harry's heartbeat but he kept shifting and fixing your spot in his lap. At one point you had tossed your arms around him and squished him till he stopped moving, allowing you to properly relax.
Harry pressed a soft kiss to your cheek and lifted you out of his lap, taking your left hand and quickly kissing your knuckles “I’ll go make us some food, what do yeh want ta drink” he whispered. You smiled and shrugged.
“I think I have some sparkling cider in the fridge?” you croaked; voice still shot from your earlier bawling session. He gave a soft smile and nod, squeezing your hand for a moment before dropping it and heading to the kitchen.
You sighed, falling back against your sheets and letting the tension release from your body. Finally, the three days of stress and worry were done. You lifted your left hand in your sights, biting your lip as the red ruby ring stared back at you.
What if Harry had never come back? What if he had decided that you weren’t worth it? Or had decided to break up with you?
It really was just a stupid fight that had ended badly but it had sent your mind reeling after a whole day had gone by with nothing coming from Harry's end.
You sat up as something delicious passed by your senses, you grabbed your (fav color) fluffy blanket from the top of your sheets and wrapped it around you, padding into the kitchen and licking your lips at the sight of Harry stirring something on the stove. “what-what you making?” you asked, walking up behind him and resting your chin on his shoulder.
He turned to kiss the top of your head and muttered against your hair “chicken rice bowl, Desiree was on dinner duty on the revenge and showed meh how ta make it, it's really good and I thought yeh might like it”
“it looks awesome” you muttered, looking over at the steaming covered rice on the other side of the stove, before looking down at the chicken cooking in the pan that Harry was messing with. “do you need me to do anything?”
“aye, make the sauce fer me?” he gestured over to a paper hanging from the cabinets, and you nodded, walking over to the paper and reading down the quickly scrawled recipe.
“homemade teriyaki sauce?” you murmured to yourself, throwing your blanket on a kitchen chair and getting to work.
Luckily the sauce was easy to make, within only a few minutes it was done and ready to be poured into the pan of chicken.
You handed the sauce to harry who poured it into the pan and stirred it around, letting it coat the chicken. “Desiree said ta let the sauce soak in for a bit, so now all we do is wait” you nodded and leaned onto his arm, smiling softly as he lifted it and wrapped it around your waist.
You had thought you and harry would (hopefully) reunite, that it would be awkward and the two of you would take a bit to get back to the way you were before the fight.
But it was as if the fight never happened, and it relieved you.
You and Harry talked about your usual small talk, the lost revenge, Auradon, wedding stuff, and the events of the past two years.
After a few minutes of talking and waiting, the chicken was ready to serve with the rice. Harry separated from you and pushed around the chicken with the spatula. “can yeh get the bowls out love?”
You hummed in confirmation and walked over to the left where your bowls were, opening the cabinet and pulling out two midsized bowls.
Harry took one of the bowls and spooned a good portion of rice into the bowl before doing the same with the chicken, he took a spoon and poured some of the chicken sauce onto the food, smirking as the dark sauce soaked into the rice.
“nice” he muttered, setting the bowl on the kitchen table behind him and backing away, letting you fill your bowl. He picked up his bowl and walked over to the living room, setting it down on the coffee table and turning on the tv. “Mandalorian or….whatever?” he asked loudly, turning to you and raising his brows
“Mando” you called back, pouring the sauce on your food and grabbing your blanket tossing it on the back of the couch, and plopping down on the soft cushions.
Harry sat next to you and pulled you into his side, clicking on the series and setting it to the first episode. The rest of the night was mostly spent quietly eating food and watching movies.
It was a nice break from the last three days. You let out a light sigh and burred yourself into Harry's side, glancing up at the snoring pirate that still gripping onto you tightly.
You jumped slightly at the sudden buzz coming from Harry's pocket, you stealthily pulled his phone and unlocked it, seeing a text from Uma.
Cap’n
Cap’n-Hey, you two okay?
You smiled, you were glad you and Harry had a friend that cared so much about you, even if she didn’t like showing it all the time
You -(y/n) answering from Harrys phone cuz the dork is asleep: yes we are okay, harry made dinner too
Cap’n - good, another day of Harrys whining and I would have combusted, keep him there for a little bit, he worked himself to the bone to distract himself over here, he needs a day off even though he just had one
You - yes ma’am
Cap’n - (y/n)….
You - sorry :’)
Cap’n - alright, night
You - night!
You set Harry's phone on the coffee table and burrowed back into his side, smiling as his solid heartbeat rang in your ear.
It was hard to believe it had been over two years since you had been magically transported to the Descendants world and fallen in love with who was once a fictional character you had a crush on.
You still had no idea how you had gotten there in the first place but, you looked back up at Harry, whose lashes fluttered against his cheeks, you sure as hell weren’t complaining.
-end of part 19-
ALSO, I thought I started this (part of your world in general) back in….December? of 2018, which I think that’s when I started posting on Wattpad but apparently, I posted part 1 of part of your world on October 19th, 2018! So, it’s been 2 years since I started part of your world! Which was the true start to my growth as a writer! I think I’m going to start wrapping up encore soon since there's not much more I can do with it other than random parts with fluff and some angst sometimes, so maybe 10 more parts at max, maybe ending with the wedding? Idk but I think this set of part of your world is coming to a close. Rewrite is still ongoing with D2 being written right now, and a possible D3 if D2 does good. Along with the Full Rewrite/redone versions of Part of Your World/Reprise, it'll be under the same name with just a 2.0 at the end so it'll just look like Part of your World 2.0/Reprise 2.0
Thank yall for reading!

Borderlands @ PAX East: What To Expect
Gearbox Software’s announcements at PAX East have brought a lot for Borderlands 3 fans to think about and get excited for over the next few upcoming months. The full article can be read here, but below is a list of notes detailing the major events revealed during the broadcast!
Borderlands 3 is finally releasing on Steam on March 13th, 2020 (3/13/20) on a Friday, allowing Steam users to finally play the game. The game is also available to put on a user’s Wishlist if they so please.
Players on both the Epic Games Store and Steam platforms will be able to rampage across Pandora, Promethea, Athenas, and more together with crossplay compatibility!
Pictured above is the Borderlands 3 2020 Spring Content Roadmap
“Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock” is the official name of the second campaign DLC for Borderlands 3.
Releases March 26th, 2020 (3/26/20)
Gaige is featured as a returning character and plays the role as the wedding planner for Wainwright and Hammerlock’s wedding
The setting takes place in the town of Cursehaven, located on a new planet known as “Xylourgos”, where the frozen wastes have thinned out all but the most vicious creatures
The DLC will feature completely brand new enemies, Legendary gear (weapons and Class Mods!), customization items (Skins and Heads), interactive Room Decorations (like those seen from Takedown at Maliwan’s Blacksite and Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot), and Vehicle Skins
Mayhem Mode 2.0 will release for FREE sometime in April, which boasts a complete overhaul of endgame content for players who wish to further intensify their Borderlands 3 experience.
Mayhem Mode 2.0 boasts 25 new modifiers that are nothing seen before in Borderlands 3
One such modifier, “Floor is Lava!”, will cause the player(s) in-game to take damage the longer they stand still in one spot
There are a total of 10 Levels of Mayhem to enjoy
“Revenge of the Cartels” is the next seasonal event, set to release in April as well.
Similar to past seasonal events (Bloody Harvest and Broken Hearts Day), the player(s) are tasked with completing objectives to receive customization items (Character Skins, Character Heads, Weapon Trinkets, Weapon Skins, etc.) and possibly other loot
The objective of this seasonal event is to kill “Cartel Operatives”
A new Takedown has been announced: “Guardian Takedown” (the full name has not yet been released).
Similar to the Takedown at Maliwan’s Blacksite update, this will launch for free as well, and will focus on the player(s) exploring a new Location while fighting off increasingly difficult waves of Eridian Guardian enemies
Pictured above is Concept Art for DLC 3
Gearbox gave players a sneak peak for what to expect for DLC 3 and DLC 4: outlaws and dinosaurs and going “inside” a fan-favorite Vault Hunter’s head, respectively.

An Evening Visit
(Newt in New York, 2.0)
Muffled voices carry from the other side of the wooden door. Newt shifts his case to his left hand, hovering for a moment, and knocks softly.
The talking stops.
“Queenie, what?” He hears Tina say. He squeezes the handle of his case. She's right there. Just on the other side of the door. Of course she is, he chides himself impatiently. Why you came.
“It's…” Queenie’a voice trails off.
“Who? Queenie, who?”
“I'll get it.” Queenie’s light footsteps grow closer. The door swings open.
Newt looks up. Queenie’s smiling at him. That’s good right? Smiling is good. He looks down and fumbles with his case.
“Come in, come in.” Queenie steps aside and beckons him into the apartment.
“Who is…” Tina walks around the corner and into the entryway. She stops short when she sees him. “Newt.”
He looks up into her eyes and for a moment can do nothing but stare as his heart seems to try and clamber out of his chest. Her gaze widens, her teeth catching on her lip, and a smile spreads across his face.
She looks down, her lips pressed into a tight line as she tucks her hair behind her ear.
He falters. “I'm sorry I didn't have a chance to write. I meant to, but then the Ministry—and I thought I'd better leave you see, before they decided…” he trails off. He really should've written. It's not done, is it, to simply appear across the Atlantic unannounced? Merlin, he hadn't even thought about it as he’d scribbled out directions for Bunty and tucked Tina's copy of his book into the case. He should've…he should’ve checked with them, at least given them some notice…
“Oh, don't be silly, honey.” Queenie looks back at Tina, a silent conversation between sisters he couldn’t hope to understand. Her voice grows warmer than it had been at first. “We’re glad you're here.”
Newt glances hopefully at Tina, who has crossed her arms over her chest and seems to be looking at some point on the opposite side of the room. She clears her throat. “And when did you arrive in New York, Mr. Scamander?”
Newt startles. But her letters had been addressed to Newt. Why is she…her eyes finally meet his for the space of a breath. They are somehow both dark and bright, and he’s almost certain that there's a hardness in them. This is that’s a section 3-A Mr. Scamander Tina. Not Tina from the docks. Not Tina stepping into his case with eyes so enthralled that his hand had itched for a pencil and sketch paper, though he’d known he’d never do them justice.
“Just…just this evening,” he manages. Is she…is something wrong? She seems…something. Worried, or upset, or…he hasn't received a letter in over a month, which had only increased his urgency in obtaining a travel permit. To make sure she's alright. To understand why. Her hair is different. Short, and with fringe falling on her forehead. He has a sudden impulse to touch that fringe. To make her smile. Would it make her smile? It hadn’t made her smile on the docks. But it had been almost better, her expression in that moment almost a year ago.
“She's alright,” Queenie says softly. “Mostly.”
“Queenie,” Tina warns.
Newt jolts, reminded yet again that his thoughts are not private here. At least when not masked in his accent.
“I’ve gotten better at that since last year. Guess I know you,” Queenie tells him.
Newt blinks.
Queenie turns to her sister. “He's worried about you, Teen.” Newt swallows as Tina’s expression darkens ever so slightly. Merlin, how on earth is he supposed to make sense of this. “No, ‘course he is.”
Newt pulls his gaze away to find Queenie studying him. He shifts under the scrutiny, trying to reign in his thoughts. Is she ill perhaps. Or has something happened at work? Maybe he misunderstood on the docks. Maybe she didn't want him to come. He swallows, hurt and just a little angry. Oh Merlin he'd really thought—
“Oh, honey.” Newt bites his lip. “No. She’s just been outta sorts lately.”
Newt looks to Tina. “Why?” He studies the features he can see, the stubborn set of her jaw and her delicate lips and elegant chin. The hair curling about her cheeks. His mind is drawn to the newspaper clipping tucked in his pocket. He’d remembered to reverse the sticking charm and remove it from the lid of his case on the walk to the apartment. It's close isn't it, but there's something about her eyes in person that newsprint can't quite show. Life. Fire.
“You kept it.” Queenie interrupts his thoughts, her voice strangely softened, less bright.
Newt jumps.
“Don't read his mind,” Tina says. There’s something in the way she holds her arms around her, shoulders squared. Firm and impassive, or trying to be, but there’s a quiver in her chin. “You didn't have to come, you know, Mr. Scamander.”
Newt frowns, hand tightening reflexively on his case.
“No, she didn't mean it like that. I can't help it, Teen,” Queenie adds. “You're both bein’ loud.”
He swallows. “I wanted to. I very much wanted to…see you…both…again.”
Tina stares at him, arms crossed. “I thought all aurors were careerist hypocrites.”
“Er, yes,” he flushes. “About that. I didn't mean—”
“Didn't mean what Mr. Scamander?”
Newt fishes in his coat pocket, pulling out a slim volume wrapped in brown paper. “I brought you a copy. As promised.”
Tina hesitates, then takes a few steps closer and lifts it from his hands, careful that they never touch. Her palm slides across the rough surface, and for a moment he is mesmerized by watching her carefully ease off the twine and paper and remove a burnished new copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
“A bunch’a people were talkin’ about your book at work the other day, Newt.”
“Were they?”
“ ‘course they were,” Tina agrees, her posture suddenly less like that of a cornered creature. “It's—the book is amazing, Newt.”
“We’re real proud’a ya,” Queenie adds.
Newt deflates a little. “You've read it?”
Tina looks at him without speaking, her slim fingers still gripping the volume.
“I meant to come sooner, you see, only—“
Tina clears her throat. “You had other obligations.”
“Not really.” Tina stares at him, her brow furrowed. “The Ministry wouldn’t let me travel. Something about destroying the city of New York.”
Tina’s lip turns up into a smile. “Oh, they objected to that did they?”
“Rather a lot.”
She gestures to his case. “And do they know you've brought that?”
“Yes. Technically. Er—rather,” he smiles to find her looking at him, some of the weight of before lifted in her teasing, “may not have mentioned every species.”
“Just a few then?” Her eyes dance, and his chest soars rather too high to fit inside his body.
“Well…”
“I meant to ask. The entry on Pogrebins. We learned about them in training, but have you ever actually…”
She stops. “Tina?” He asks, his smile faltering.
“Teenie I told you that wasn't true, of course he doesn't think you're—I still think there's gotta be more to it than—’course you're confused how to—well if you're going to be stubborn about it.”
Newt looks between the sisters, perplexed.
“I'm gonna go make us some cocoa,” Queenie announces. Newt looks down awkwardly as she walks off, shifting his case between hands.
“You can set that down Mr. Scamander.”
“Right! Right.” He gently lowers the case to the floor, feeling strangely weightless without it.
Pickett pokes his head out of Newt’a pocket in the newfound silence and chirps with delight. “Oh. Oh, yes, Pick, that's Tina.”
Tina looks up curiously.
“He remembers you,” Newt explains, holding his hand against his coat for Pickett to climb out.
“Could—I…?” Tina holds out a hand, and Newt reaches to transfer Pickett to her, forgetting until the last moment that it will involve touch. He forces himself to remain still as her hand brushes his. Pickett climbs over happily, and Newt moves away, smiling as Tina carefully balances the bowtruckle. His hand doesn’t quite feel like skin, though, at the moment. Well, perhaps a bit like the time he’d spilled an entire vial of murtlap essence onto one foot.
“I don't…have to stay. Here, that is, I mean. I could find a room…” he sighs at his clumsiness. “I'm afraid I'm not very good at this. I don't have friends.”
Tina’s eyes find his, wide and warm and shoving his heart rate up a good few beats. “Yes,” she says softly. “Yes, you do.” She touches him arm. No, not murtlap. Dittany? No, it isn’t one burning jolt. It’s like fireworks. A stinging, sparkling, lively thing that hurts almost, but in a wonderful, exhilarating way. Newt thinks he does well not to combust.
“Here we are,” Queenie announces as she returns, passing out mugs of steaming cocoa. Tina’s hand quickly falls away.
“I meant to say. Congratulations, and all.” Tina's posture is steady as usual, her shoulders back and her chin high. But her voice wobbles. The niffler does that, when he’s trying to scare off a creature from his treasures that’s actually bigger than him.
“Er—” he thinks for a moment. Right. The book. “Thank you.”
“I should've asked.” Tina stares at Pickett. “When's the wedding?”
“Er—June. How did you hear about that?” Merlin's beard, are the newspapers in America running articles about Theseus now? He pictures several that have run in the Prophet back home, still at a loss to understand why wizards and witches take such an interest.
“We do get news on this side of the pond, Mr. Scamander,” Tina says, sharp again.
He looks at her, puzzled.
“Oh—“ Queenie says. “Oh, Teenie.” Suddenly she’s smiling between the two of them.
“What?” Tina snaps at her sister. “Queenie, will you just say whatever it is.”
“Ask him.”
The sisters stare at each other for a moment. “Ask him what.”
“You know.”
“Please don’t—” Newt cuts off his own frustrated voice. Ask him what? He feels cut out of some secret in most conversations, but this one—
“Sorry.” Queenie frowns at him, tilting her head.
Tina gathers herself up. “Leta didn’t come with you?”
“Leta? No, why would she?”
“I just thought, with the wedding’n all.”
“But the wedding’s in England. Mother is beside herself about it. Her oldest son and a June wedding at the manor. Absolutely insisted I agree when Theseus asked me to be best man, and—” he realizes he's rambling and stops.
“You—” Tina squeaks.
“I mentioned him in my letters. Theseus. Did I not?” That must be the confusion. “My older brother, Theseus. He’s an auror, head auror actually. Insufferable, really. Not that aurors are—Not that you are—“
Tina stares at him. Her eyes are a little wild. He could touch her fringe couldn't he? Just a little brush, to get it out of her eyes.
“No, Sweetie. He’s not upset about it. Not like that.”
Newt glances at Queenie and swallows heavily.
Tina takes a step closer. “You’re not marrying Leta?” Her voice is nervy, grounded with warmth.
He shivers. He's missed it. Imagining her voicing her own letters hadn't been the same. “What?”
“The magazine, it said—“ Tina’s voice trails off. “Oh. Newt I'm so sorry.”
“Whatever for?”
“You and Leta—”
“Oh, no that's...” Newt shakes his head, shifting through his jumbled feelings on the matter. He'd been hurt at first, but more by the way they’d already grown apart than any disappointments more tender. “I used to think I—once, I might've—I haven't thought of her in that way in a long time. Especially now I've—” met you he wants to say.
Queenie beams at him, and now that he's finally caught some thread of Tina's thoughts, the look bolsters him.
“You've thought I was engaged?”
Tina nods. “When I saw the article last month…well, you and Queenie’d talked about her, and you have that picture in your case…”
“You stopped writing back a month ago.”
Tina blinks. Her hand lingers at the end of her hair, her teeth digging into her lip. “Yeah.”
“I thought I must've annoyed you—”
“You could never—not like that. I—”
Newt’s vaguely aware of Queenie watching them, and for half a second he wonders if she'll explain. But no, he thinks, he wants them to do this on their own. Understand each other. “I've missed your letters.”
“You have?”
“I don't think I've checked for owls so often. Well. Perhaps when I was studying their routes in the Scottish Highlands but that was—why did you stop?”
“After I read the article I didn't think it was appropriate for me to—for a young woman to be writing—not one who wanted to—when you were writing for a different reason—”
“Entirely appropriate. I mean. Inappropriate. That is. It would've been appropriate, for how I feel about you. Er. It is appropriate.”
Newt jumps at a soft, indignant squawk. “Pickett, I'm sorry!” Tina rebalances him, a flush spreading over her cheeks as she levels her hand out again.
“Tina could I…” he steps closer, her gaze settling on him.
He gulps as she lifts Pickett up to crawl back into his pocket, her hand pressing into his chest. Still not combusting. That's good, then. Her palm flattens against his chest. His breath hitches. “Newt,” she whispers. “Look at me.”
Slowly, he lifts his head. She smiles at him, and he searches her eyes for a moment, sighing with relief.
Cautiously, he brings his hand up to cover hers, stroking his thumb across the back as her fingers curl into his chest. Merlin, her eyes are breathtaking. “You were asking me something.”
“Yes, right, I was. Might I—” He wets his lips and her eyes follow the movement. “That is, would you mind. No that’s not right. Would you—that is, may I kiss you?” She smiles. Yes, he thinks, falling into her eyes, salamanders.
“Yes,” she whispers.
“It's perfectly alright if not, I—yes?”
“Please.”
They stare at each other for a moment, and then his eyes fall shut and he leans into her. The kiss is a short, fumbling, inelegant, perfect thing. Energy fizzles through Newt’s skin. He pulls back to see her smiling softly, her fingers brushing hair from his forehead. He sighs and gives in to the urge to run his fingertips along her jaw, feeling with wonder that she leans into the touch.
Queenie, he realizes, must have slipped away to a different room.
A loud, gruff snort from the ground beside them startles them both. “Oh that'll be Horatia. She's probably hungry.”
“Do I wanna ask what—”
“Just a hippogriff I'm looking after for Mum. She bent a wing and can't keep up with the herd.”
“You brought a hippogriff.”
“Well, yes. Just one. Well not quite. Two, I think. Yes, two definitely.” It’s very hard to think with Tina’s fingers dancing across his cheek.
She hesitates for a moment, then returns his smile with a grin.
The pads of her fingers graze his neck. He fights the urge to purr like a satisfied beast.
“Would you like to come meet her?” Newt considers it for a moment, then reaches to tuck her hair behind her ear, tracing its shape and shivering when she takes in a sharp breath. “She's magnificent.”
“I’d love to.”
Newt smiles, then spins to the case, tugging her with him. They're pressed close together as he opens the clasps, and Newt cannot resist reaching for another peck. Her hand grips his, her lips soft and pliant and her gasp sending a jolt of energy up his spine.
“I’m glad you came Mr. Scamander.” Queenie calls from the next room.
They freeze, Newt’s blush spreading quickly across his face. Tina kisses his forehead, her fingers threaded lightly into his hair, and okay, he might still combust.
“The case?”
“Yes, right. The case.” Newt agrees, squeezing her hand, and turns to climb down.
“Newt.”
He stops, looking back at her.
“I’m sorry.”
He tilts his head, confused. “Whatever for?”
She looks at her hands, tangled up with his. “I should’ve trusted you. I should’ve—“
He doesn’t know what to say, other than it cannot possibly be her fault. “I was a bit surprised when I received your first letter. Not because—but I thought you may not write to me. That’s what people have always done, you see. Say they want to. And then—“
She listens carefully, eyes wide.
“You’re always surprising me.”
“Who wouldn’t write back to you?”
Newt huffs out a rough, short sound, not quite a laugh.
“Except me,” Tina concludes.
“No, no, that’s not at all what I meant,” he rushes to explain, frustrated with himself. “You—you’re—I thought that maybe you didn’t want to, and knowing that you did is—“ He threads their fingers together. “Don’t be sorry. I’m happy.”
Tina smiles. “So am I,” she whispers roughly. He thinks he’ll have to try again, to sketch her right. Maybe tomorrow.

Scenic Route 5/47
Read on AO3 : https://archiveofourown.org/works/18268208/chapters/43229774
Start over : https://elopez7228.tumblr.com/post/620919089893933056/scenic-route-0147
Rey stretched languorously, savoring the silky softness of the bed sheets and the over-plush duvet. Sunshine filtered into the room through a gap in the curtains as she blinked to adjust her eyes to the daylight.
“Wait a minute—where am I?”
As the panic set in she scrambled to get out of the sheets so ardently that she got tangled up in them and rolled out of bed without being able to stand up. Having landed on the heavily carpeted floor, she worked her limbs furiously to free herself from the mess.
She was fully dressed apart from her jumper and her shoes. She looked around the room for her belongings, spotting the clues she needed to reorient herself in the process. Bland furniture. Deco feel. Cleaned spotless. Zero trinkets anywhere—no photos, no books.
This was a hotel room.
She was on her knees looking for her shoes when a voice made her heart jump.
“Hello. Sleep well?”
She turned abruptly, propping herself up on one elbow, and stared furiously at the hulking frame of none other than Ben Solo, who had just come out of the bathroom.
“You! Did you just kidnap me—“
Ben’s expression was mocking, part amused and part exasperated.
“That’s likely what would have happened to you if I had left you unconscious on the sidewalk last night. You can never slow down, can you? Are you always this overwhelmed?”
Rey was suddenly overcome with an unspeakable sort of anguish as she traced her stomach and thighs for any sign of bruising or pain. “Did I sleep with you?” her voice trembled slightly.
He rolled his eyes. “If that were the case, I wouldn’t have bothered to redress you. I never touched you, apart from taking off your jacket and your boots. They’re over there on the chair, along with the rest of your things.”
Rey heaved a sigh of relief and closed her eyes to try to calm down, to slow down the rampant beating of her heart. “Where are we? Your place?”
“Denver. The Four Seasons. It took me forever to figure out where you were staying, Jessica didn’t know anything so she had to call Finn. It took ages to figure out that you were down at the Four Seasons and even more time to realize that you didn’t even have a room reserved, you—“
“Stop!”
“What?”
Ben’s eyes widened at the interruption, Rey was brandishing a single boot in her right hand as she got up and stalked menacingly in his direction. Her icy glare stopped him in his tracks.
“What did you just say? You actually called Jessica and Finn?”
Her voice was shaking with rage. Ben held up his hands in the universal gesture of innocence. “Look, I had to, I had to find out where you were staying, would you have preferred I take you home?”
“How’d you have the number—Jessica’s—did you go through my stuff?”
“No, no need. You called her yesterday with my phone, remember?”
“And what, exactly, did you tell her?”
“Nothing but the truth. That I found you drunk and unconscious outside a bar at two in the morning and I wanted to know where you were staying so I could take you back. That’s all, I swear.”
Rey leaned against the bed and slid to the floor as her legs threatened to give out.
“Good grief…”
Jessica had to call Finn to find out which hotel Rey booked. She had told him what she knew. The news that Rey, drunk and faded, washed up on the street and ended up in a hotel room with a stranger was making the rounds, Finn and Poe and all her friends would know.
“Listen Rey, you have to be glad that nothing truly bad happened to you. Don’t get me wrong, this whole thing is ugly, the wedding, the breakup, all of it. But you’ll self-destruct if you continue like this,”
Rey leapt at his words.
“How’d you know about the wedding? Was it Jessica who told you?”
Ben was walking back into the room armed with armed with a steaming cup of coffee which he gingerly handed her.
“Not even. You talk in your sleep. You seem to really like Finn, and I can tell that you’re dying inside, but you should really let the past die. Pick yourself up before you get into any real trouble,”
“You have some nerve don’t you?” Rey was furious. ”I never asked for any of this! I never asked for your help! You just waltzed into my life, called my ex, tucked me in like a child, and sought to give me some life advice? Who do you think you are, you’re not my father or my husband, alright? What will it take to not be treated like a kid anymore—I’m twenty-four and I don’t need a chaperone!”
Overwhelmed by anger and humiliation, she tried to hit him but he grabbed her wrist with a sudden tenacity that startled her.
“I’m not your enemy, Rey, I’m just trying to help,”
His calmness only served to fuel her anger, she continued through gritted teeth,”You’ve gone too far, Ben Solo. You have no right to meddle in my private life or to judge me for my actions. Leave. Now.”
Ben slowly loosened his grip on her wrist, looking her straight in the eyes.
“That’s not what you said last night, when you curled up next to me, calling me Finn and begging me to kiss you.”
Rey exploded into a stream of insults, hurling the contents of the mug at his face:
“You damn prick! Get out! Get the blazes out of my room!”
Ben wiped his face with the back of his hand. His black shirt was soaked in coffee, a few droplets beading his eyebrows. He grabbed the leather jacket that was hanging from an armchair and rummaged through his pocket. He slipped a fifty dollar bill onto the nightstand.
“The word you’re looking for is “thanks”, so this is for your suitcase and now we’re even. Best of luck, Rey.”
And with one last look in her direction, he shrugged his jacket on and retreated into the corridor, the door closing behind him.
Rey waited a few minutes to see if he would come back, like Finn often did when they got into an argument. After she determined that he was well and truly gone, she took to the bathroom for a quick shower. Later, she collected her things, double-checking that her travek papers and her money were still there. She made one last sweep under the couches to find anything she could have possibly left behind (telephone, check, keys, check, socks, check) and left the room for good.
Her hair was piled up in a hasty up-do today, stray hairs escaping everywhere to frame her face. She held her key out gingerly at the reception desk, dreading the bill. The receptionist was all smooth complexion and perectly prim uniform again. She smiled knowingly at Rey as she informed her that the room was already paid for.
Rey chewed the inside of her cheek as she repeated the amount due: 430 dollars, not including tip. Was it Ben who paid? Who else, right?
She suddenly felt a pang of guilt, but she fought it off. She wasn’t for sale. Flaunting his money around didn’t make meddling with her private life any more acceptable. She wasn’t impressed by his flashy car or his punk rock leather, or his overflowing pockets or his ears poking out ever so slightly beneath his dark locks of hair. Well, on second thought they were cute, and she wondered if it was a secret turn on for him if she just nibbled a—Hey.
Down, girl. What had gotten into her just then?
Well. She hated to admit it, but he was right. She couldn’t keep going like this. Floating around here and there with no purpose and no itinerary for days on end. Her fingers accidentally brushed against a bit of glossy paper in her pocket. She realized it was the business card that Rose had left her. She had completely forgotten.
Leia Skywalker
970-571-3350
Still at the entrance of the Four Seasons with no idea of what direction to take, she dialed the number.
A woman's voice answered. An older woman. Rey stifled her surprise—she had expected a punk, an artist, or some strange combination of the two who hired strangers to drive cars. But an elderly woman? What kind of woman could she be, if not the wife of an ageing Italian mafia boss?
She hurriedly explained that she had met Rose who had told her about a car to drive to California in exchange for payment. The woman suggested that she come for coffee, slowly dictating an address. Rey hesitated a moment. This was the point of no return. Should she go or back out now? Was she going to be kidnapped and forced into a prostitution ring? Locked up by MK Ultra 2.0? Exploited by the mafia and drowned in the bottom of a river with a block of concrete chained to her feet? Or simply have a tea with a gran who no longer had the energy to drive 3500 kilometers?
Here goes nothing.
The taxi dropped her off at the entrance of a trailer park, a sort of wasteland littered with mobile homes and manufactured houses. All kinds of rubbish piled high on the roadside: old bicycles, rusty trolleys, and other garbage languishing in the dust. Tattered clothes hung from clotheslines that swayed in the wind.
Rey remained frozen in front of the sad spectacle of an area of residence. Was it a trap?
As a safety measure, she took a screenshot of her GPS location on Google Maps and texted it to Jessica, with the name and number of Leia Skywalker. If she disappeared, her friend could at least alert the police.
His phone rang immediately. It was Jessica, asking for an explanation. Rey kept the conversation brief and put her phone on airplane mode so as not to be disturbed. She did not want to talk right now.
With her bag on her shoulder, she stepped onto the dusty road, looking for numbers on the houses. She realized she was being naive: this was no fancy suburb managed by the municipality! The few houses there had probably been hastily constructed and certainly not numbered neatly and precisely. She approached a woman, clad in denim and cowboy boots, who was smoking a cigarette on the steps of her porch.
“Hello, do you happen to know a Leia Skywalker who lives around here?”
The woman gestured with her chin to one of the tiny houses a little further down the sreet. Approaching it, Rey found it relatively elegant, the exterior well-painted, with colorful flowers overflowing from planters arranged along the windows. No rubbish, no rust, just a modest little house whose occupant was obviously very attentive.
Rey sighed with relief. She blamed herself for her hasty judgement. Not having money and living modestly did not make you a bad person. This Leia Skywalker had no money to throw out the windows, obviously, unlike Ben Solo, her subconscious snickered. She was probably harmless. Or was she? Stars, she had to stop already.
Rey knocked on the door.
Moments later, a little woman stood before her. She was no more than five feet tall, clad in a long indigo dress with matching bangles. His dark gray hair was tucked into a complicated braid that rose above her head, adding ten centimeters to her height. Her face was wrinkled but her features were delicate, and Rey thought she must have been much more beautiful in her youth. And above all, her eyes were bright and her figure poised and graceful. She was no gran.
Leia Skywalker invited Rey to come in, sit down, and poured her a cup of tea that smelled distinctly of bergamot. The little house was clean and tidy. Framed photos of a young woman in military regalia or a pilot's uniform were hanging on the wall, and Rey realized with amazement that they were all various portraits of Leia, in her youth.
On the couch, an old gray cat yawned sleepily and on the carpet, an orange dog with a curved tail had approached Rey, eyes begging for a pat. Rey let the dog sniff her hand to get to know her, then smiled and patted her head affectionately.
“Well, hello! Hello! What's your name?”
“Her name is BB8,” answered Leia, sitting on a worn wicker chair. My brother’s dog, actually. She is the one I need you to take to San Francisco.

When I posted that Steam wedding pic, I remembered that when they filmed that back in 2013, they had someone there to document it behind the scenes. Kind of like a proper wedding video. Naturally, I had to look through my computer and I found it, and giffed it. Phew.

Alt universe targling headcanon
@snowstcrm, @aegon, @viianki, @mine-loves
I present to u my headcanon to avoid the clusterfuck the show canon is now and also as a distraction (also prior warning I am not a writer merely an ardent admirer of fanfics)
So in an alternate universe, Dany and Jon get engaged in Winterfell may be white harbor if I am feeling ambitious. Dany discovers she is pregnant on the road. Varys, Tyrion and Davos are now wedding planners. They reach Winterfell and the northerners are stubborn but they realize Dany’s intention and accept her. Now things are a bit grey here because I can’t predict Sansa’s reaction but if they marry and Jon is the king I assume she will be more amenable am not sure. Also lots of interactions with Ghost and Dany who basically is her shadow now. Jon learns about his origins has an identity crisis but gets over it. They win against the Night king also by being a little smarter with their battle strategy. They turn towards the south where bran warns them about the danger and the iron fleet ( because he is free now u know as he is not sneaking up on NK anymore instead he urges them to armor the dragons and other helpful tidbits). Arya sneaks in kills Cersei before she can blow shit up and hound and Jaime kill the mountain and Qyburn (who is basically a more perverted Rosart 2.0 lets face it ). Point is they become co-rulers or maybe Jon as an advisor (again grey areas because he hates ruling but I do think Dany can coax him) They have a son Daeron or Aemon both r acceptable and a few years later Visenya. Now Visenya has bran’s powers and she starts dreaming about this alternate verse where things are going terrible and she and her brother with the help of bran decide to come to this verse to try to set things right or at least to prevent the death of either of their parents. They are aghast and horrified when they see the situation and tries to find people to help them. But Ghost finds them (because u know Jon will nvr leave him behind) and outs them to Jon. They insist to be taken to Dany and the family talk to figure out a plan along with the coup the others are planning which visenya has dreamed about.
Alright, I have ran out of steam here but u get it . They set things right. Meanwhile alt universe Jon and Dany are worried and livid with their kids for this road trip.
Also please feel free to add to this or change it
#jonerys#headcanon#may have spoilers not sure#got#i needed to free this bird#text#its merely for a bit of fun because we r all going crazy

i had a feeling that the robron drought would start next week, which means we'll probably have around two weeks without them. they'll come back at the start of july, and then we'll start getting wedding 2.0 hints (at least).
Kayleigh!!!!! This is exactly what I’m thinking as well, I think this would be a much less shorter drought than last years (thank goodness!!!) so I think it will be around 2/3 weeks and then it’s full steam ahead with wedding talks and wedding 2.0 💃🏻🌸✨💕

This time on Toxie Yells About Books, my like/dislike ratio was exactly 50/50. Yay....?
Thor: God of Thunder Vol 3 & Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Arc Vol 4
STILL PERFECT. Also, thank everything that is good that Kaito is just a villain and NOT a huge creep like that fucking teacher, and there is NO Rika 2.0. THANK GOD.
The Aladdin Effect
Ehhhh, it's alright? The writing hasn't aged very well, and I really feel like it would have been better off as a mini-series instead of a one-off short graphic novel. I did love the team! Can't go wrong with She-Hulk, Storm, Wasp, and Tigra. Maybe a modern author can bring this team back together?
Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark Box Set
So, I never read this series as kid, and I bought the box set because I love Brett Helquist. I finally got around to reading them, and they're alright for what they are. I don't think I would have been impressed as a kid, but I can see why this series has endured. That said, I still feel like Scary Stories for Stormy Nights is the superior kids horror anthology series.
Brett Helquist was the perfect choice for this reprint, by the way. God I love his work.
The Coldest Girl In Coldtown
FINALLY A HOLLY BLACK NOVEL THAT I LIKE. IT HAPPENED!
Okay, I love Holly Black's short stories. Absolutely LOVE them, have her collection and everything. But her novels have always left me cold and it's so frustrating because I love her writing. And after reading Coldtown, I have finally figured out why: I don't like how she writes romances, which is unfortunately a major focus for every other book of her's that I've read.
There is certainly romance in Coldtown, but it's barely there. The main focus is the world-building, and man, it's a fantastically constructed world. I love her biological twist on the vampire lore, I love the concept of Coldtowns, I love that they have become morbidly profitable, I love the Coldtown streams, everything was just A++++. Please, Ms. Black, focus more on worldbuilding-heavy books, because you do incredibly well with them.
Fever Crumb
Boy oh boy do I fucking love it when a book is a prequel that assumes you've read the previous series yet gives no indication that it's part of said series anywhere on the fucking cover. JUST LOVE IT.
My Big Fat Supernatural Wedding
I don't know how to feel about this one. I didn't like most of the stories, but the few I did like were really, really good. Like, I'm considering picking up the series they're from levels of good. I guess it's worth checking out if you want a little preview of several urban fantasy series?
Still don't know if I'm going to keep this or donate it.
Throne of Glass
The writing style was, frankly, atrocious. FFN-levels of Bad. Also, why would a Captain of the Guard, who has gone on and on about how dangerous the assassin heroine is, give her a tour, alone, of the whole palace and tell this FORMER ENEMY OF THE KING what each room was. Like I'm sorry, but if I was a queen and heard my Captain of the Guard tell a FORMER ENEMY where my court was? Fired. From a cannon.
Needless to say, I didn't finish this.
Afterworks 2
Eh, the stories weren’t great, but at least the art was nice.
American Vampire Vol 7
Man, American Vampire used to be one of my favorite comics, but I think it's run out of steam. This whole arc felt like filler :( I think this will be my last AV book.

Download the Wine Staging 2.0 x86 64 bit installer and then install it, you will need to run wine from a terminal and point wine to the.exe that you want to run. May 5, 2017 at 8:03 AM.
Version 3.0.2: Note: While the software is classified as free, it offers in-App Purchases. Mojave and 64 bit support; Bug fixes for macOS 10.11, 10.12 and upgraded VMs from previous versions.
Re: Wine doesn't work with Mac Os 10.15 Catalina Post by Gcenx » Wed Oct 09, 2019 4:34 pm @dimesio maybe you could edit the packages thread to mention it’s 10.8 10.14.
Wine is an open source program for running Windows software on non-Windows operating systems. While it’s most often used on Linux, Wine can run Windows software directly on a Mac, too–without requiring a Windows license or needing Windows running in the background.
This isn’t necessarily the best option if you want to run Windows software on a Mac. Wine isn’t perfect, and not every application will run ideally. Some applications will crash or not run at all. Virtual machines and Boot Camp are more rock-solid options, but they do add more overhead and require a Windows installation. For apps that do work, however, Wine can be extremely useful.
How to Download Wine on a Mac
RELATED:5 Ways to Run Windows Software on a Mac
There are several ways to get Wine on a Mac. The official project website at WineHQ now provides official builds of Wine for Mac OS X. However, those aren’t necessarily the best option. These Wine binaries allow you to run Windows software, but don’t provide any helpful graphical tools for installing and setting up common applications, so they’re best for advanced users already familiar with Wine.
Instead, you should probably consider one of the third-party projects that take the Wine source code and build a more convenient interface on top of it, one that helps you quickly install and configure common applications. They often perform tweaks that you’d have to perform by hand if you were using the barebones Wine software. They include their own Wine software, too, so you only have to download one thing.
Third-party tools include WineBottler, PlayOnMac, and Wineskin. There’s also the free Porting Kit, which makes installing classic games easy, and the commercial CrossOver Mac, which is the only application here you have to pay for. We’ll be using WineBottler for this tutorial, as it seems like the most popular option among Mac users. It can create Mac .app bundles for Windows programs. The other third-party applications will work similarly, though some (like CrossOver and Porting Kit) may be much more streamlined for the apps they actually support—so if you’re looking to run a specific game, it may be worth checking to see if the other apps support that game for easy setup.
How to Run Windows Software on a Mac With WineBottler
To get started, download WineBottler. Be sure to download a version that works on your release of Mac OS X. When this article was written, that meant OS X El Capitan and Yosemite users needed to download version 1.8.
Open the downloaded DMG file. Drag and drop both Wine and WineBottler applications to your Applications folder to install them, just like you would any other Mac application. You can then launch WineBottler from your Applications folder.
WineBottler lists a number of different programs you can easily install. For example, you could install various versions of Internet Explorer if you needed to test websites with them on your Mac. The Windows version of Steam is available, and which could allow you to run some Windows-only games on your Mac. Choose any of these options and WineBottler will automatically download, install, and configure these applications for you.
Wineskin Mac Os
The installed application will appear under “On My Mac” in the WineBottler window. You can uninstall them from here, if you like. Click an application and it will launch in a window, receiving its own icon on your dock.
To run another application that doesn’t appear in the WineBottler list, you can simply download it, then right-click or Ctrl-click its .exe file to select Open With > Wine.
WineBottler allows you to quickly execute the .exe directly, if you like. You can also choose to install the application in a Mac .app file created by WineBottler.
If you choose to convert it to an OS X application bundle, you will be taken to the Advanced screen in WineBottler. Provide the .exe file used to install the application and you can install it as an .app using the options here. Depending on the application, you may need various third-party libraries from the Winetricks list, DLL override options, or runtime arguments here to make it work.
However, that often isn’t necessary–just executing .exe files directly with Wine should generally work.
If you can’t get an application working, you should perform a web search for its name and “wine” or “winebottler” for tips on what advanced functions you might need.
Bear in mind that WineBottler is best if you have a single program or handful of programs that work well. If you plan on testing out a lot of software or you use software that Wine doesn’t support well, you’ll have a much better time just running it in a virtual machine. These offer more or less guaranteed compatibility with Windows software on a Mac.

Wine (recursivebackronym for Wine Is Not an Emulator) is a free and open-sourcecompatibility layer that aims to allow computer programs (application software and computer games) developed for Microsoft Windows to run on Unix-likeoperating systems. Wine also provides a software library, known as Winelib, against which developers can compile Windows applications to help port them to Unix-like systems.[12]
Wine provides its own Windows runtime environment which translates Windows system calls into POSIX-compliant system calls,[13] recreating the directory structure of Windows systems, and providing alternative implementations of Windows system libraries,[14] system services through wineserver[15] and various other components (such as Internet Explorer, the Windows Registry Editor,[16] and msiexec[17]). Wine is predominantly written using black-box testing reverse-engineering, to avoid copyright issues.[18]
Wine Project name being Wine is Not an Emulator was set as of August 1993 in the Naming discussion[19] and credited to David Niemi this is a recursivebackronym. Unfortunately there is some confusion caused by an early FAQ using Windows Emulator[20] and other invalid sources that appear after the Wine Project name being set. No code emulation or virtualization occurs when running a Windows application under Wine.[21] 'Emulation' usually would refer to execution of compiled code intended for one processor (such as x86) by interpreting/recompiling software running on a different processor (such as PowerPC). While the name sometimes appears in the forms WINE and wine, the project developers have agreed to standardize on the form Wine.[22]
Wine is primarily developed for Linux and macOS,[23] and there are (As of November 2018) well-maintained packages available for both platforms.[24]
In a 2007 survey by desktoplinux.com of 38,500 Linux desktop users, 31.5% of respondents reported using Wine to run Windows applications.[25] This plurality was larger than all x86 virtualization programs combined, as well as larger than the 27.9% who reported not running Windows applications.[26]

History[edit]
Bob Amstadt, the initial project leader, and Eric Youngdale started the Wine project in 1993 as a way to run Windows applications on Linux. It was inspired by two Sun Microsystems' products, the Wabi for the Solaris operating system, and the Public Windows Initiative,[27] which was an attempt to get the Windows API fully reimplemented in the public domain as an ISO standard but rejected due to pressure from Microsoft in 1996.[28] Wine originally targeted 16-bit applications for Windows 3.x, but as of 2010 focuses on 32-bit and 64-bit versions which have become the standard on newer operating systems. The project originated in discussions on Usenet in comp.os.linux in June 1993.[29]Alexandre Julliard has led the project since 1994.
The project has proven time-consuming and difficult for the developers, mostly because of incomplete and incorrect documentation of the Windows API. While Microsoft extensively documents most Win32 functions, some areas such as file formats and protocols have no publicly available specification from Microsoft, and Windows also includes undocumented low-level functions, undocumented behavior and obscure bugs that Wine must duplicate precisely in order to allow some applications to work properly.[30] Consequently, the Wine team has reverse-engineered many function calls and file formats in such areas as thunking.[citation needed]
The Wine project originally released Wine under the same MIT License as the X Window System, but owing to concern about proprietary versions of Wine not contributing their changes back to the core project,[31] work as of March 2002 has used the LGPL for its licensing.[32]
Wine officially entered beta with version 0.9 on 25 October 2005.[33] Version 1.0 was released on 17 June 2008,[34] after 15 years of development. Version 1.2 was released on 16 July 2010,[35] version 1.4 on 7 March 2012,[36] version 1.6 on 18 July 2013.[37] and version 1.8 on 19 December 2015.[38] Development versions are released roughly every two weeks.
Wine-staging is a relatively independently maintained set of relatively aggressive patches not deemed ready by WineHQ developers for merging into the wine repository, but still considered useful by the wine-compholio fork. It mainly covers experimental functions and bug fixes. Since January 2017, patches in wine-staging begins to be actively merged into the WineHQ upstream as wine-compholio transferred the project to Alistair Leslie-Hughes, a key WineHQ developer.[39]
Corporate sponsorship[edit]
The main corporate sponsor of Wine is CodeWeavers, which employs Julliard and many other Wine developers to work on Wine and on CrossOver, CodeWeavers' supported version of Wine. CrossOver includes some application-specific tweaks not considered suitable for the WineHQ[non sequitur] version, as well as some additional proprietary components.[40]
The involvement of Corel for a time assisted the project, chiefly by employing Julliard and others to work on it. Corel had an interest in porting WordPerfect Office, its office suite, to Linux (especially Corel Linux). Corel later cancelled all Linux-related projects after Microsoft made major investments in Corel, stopping their Wine effort.[41]
Other corporate sponsors include Google, which hired CodeWeavers to fix Wine so Picasa ran well enough to be ported directly to Linux using the same binary as on Windows; Google later paid for improvements to Wine's support for Adobe Photoshop CS2. Wine is also a regular beneficiary of Google's Summer of Code program.[42][43]
Design[edit]
The goal of Wine is to implement the Windows APIs fully or partially that are required by programs that the users of Wine wish to run on top of a Unix-like system.
Basic architecture[edit]
The programming interfaces of the Microsoft Windows family of OSes consist largely of dynamic-link libraries (DLLs). These contain a huge number of wrapper sub-routines for the system calls of the kernel, the NTOS kernel-mode program (ntoskrnl.exe). A typical Windows program calls some Windows DLLs, which in turn calls user-mode gdi/user32 libraries, which in turn uses the kernel32.dll (win32 subsystem) responsible for dealing with the kernel through system calls. The system-call layer is considered private to Microsoft programmers as documentation is not publicly available, and published interfaces all rely on subsystems running on top of the kernel. Besides these, there are a number of programming interfaces implemented as services that run as separate processes. Applications communicate with user-mode services through RPCs.[44]
Wine implements the Windows application binary interface (ABI) entirely in user space, rather than as a kernel module. Wine mostly mirrors the hierarchy, with services normally provided by the kernel in Windows[45] instead provided by a daemon known as the wineserver, whose task is to implement basic Windows functionality, as well as integration with the X Window System, and translation of signals into native Windows exceptions. Although Wineserver implements some aspects of the Windows kernel, it is not possible to use native Windows drivers with it, due to Wine's underlying architecture.[44] This prevents certain applications and games from working, for example those using StarForce copy-protection which requires virtual device drivers to be installed.
Libraries and applications[edit]
Wine allows for loading both Windows DLLs and Unix shared objects for its Windows programs. Its builtin implementation of the most basic Windows DLLs, namely NTDLL, KERNEL32, GDI32, USER32, uses the shared object method because they must use functions in the host operating system as well. Higher-level libraries, such as WineD3D, are free to use the DLL format. In many cases users can choose to load a DLL from Windows instead of the one implemented by wine. Doing so can provide functionalities not yet implemented by wine, but may also cause malfunctions if it relies on something else not present in wine.[44]
Wine tracks its state of implementation through automated unit testing done at every git commit.[46]
Graphics and gaming[edit]
While most office software does not make use of complex GPU-accelerated graphics APIs, computer games do. To run these games properly, Wine would have to forward the drawing instructions to the host OS, and even translate them to something the host can understand.
DirectX is a collection of Microsoft APIs for rendering, audio and input. As of 2019, Wine 4.0 contains a DirectX 12 implementation for Vulkan API, and DirectX 11.2 for OpenGL.[47] Wine 4.0 also allows Wine to run Vulkan applications by handing draw commands to the host OS, or in the case of macOS, by translating them into the Metal API by MoltenVK.[47]
XAudio
As of February 2019, Wine 4.3 uses the FAudio library to implement the XAudio2 audio API.[48][49]
XInput and Raw Input
Wine, since 4.0 (2019), supports game controllers through its builtin implementations of these libraries. They are built as Unix shared objects as they need to access the controller interfaces of the underlying OS, specifically through SDL.[47]
Direct2D
Wine 4.0 supports Direct2D 1.2.[47]
Direct3D[edit]
Much of Wine's DirectX effort goes into building WineD3D, a translation layer from Direct3D and DirectDraw API calls into OpenGL. As of 2019, this component supports up to DirectX 11.[47] As of December 12, 2016, wine is good enough to run Overwatch with D3D11.[50] Besides being used in Wine, WineD3D DLLs are also useful in the Windows Operating System itself, allowing for older graphic cards to run games using newer DirectX versions and for old DDraw-based games to render correctly.[51]
Some work is ongoing to move the Direct3D backend to Vulkan API. Direct3D 12 support in 4.0 is provided by a 'vkd3d' subproject,[47] and WineD3D has in 2019 been experimentally ported to use the Vulkan API.[52]
Wine, when patched, can alternatively run Direct3D 9 without translation via the a free and open-sourceGallium3D State Tracker for DX9. The Gallium3D layer allows for direct pass-through of drawing commands.[53]
User interface[edit]
A screenshot showing how Wine can be configured to mimic different versions of Windows, going as far back as Windows 2.0 as shown.
Wine is usually invoked from the command-line interpreter: wine [program.exe].[54]
winecfg[edit]
Wineskin Winery
There is the utility winecfg that starts a graphical user interface with controls for adjusting basic options.[55] It is a GUI configuration utility included with Wine. Winecfg makes configuring Wine easier by making it unnecessary to edit the registry directly, although, if needed, this can be done with the included registry editor (similar to Windows regedit).
Third-party applications[edit]
Some applications require more tweaking than simply installing the application in order to work properly, such as manually configuring Wine to use certain Windows DLLs. The Wine project does not integrate such workarounds into the Wine codebase, instead preferring to focus solely on improving Wine's implementation of the Windows API. While this approach focuses Wine development on long-term compatibility, it makes it difficult for users to run applications that require workarounds. Consequently, many third-party applications have been created to ease the use of those applications that don't work out of the box within Wine itself. The Wine wiki maintains a page of current and obsolete third-party applications.[56]
Winetricks is a script to install some basic components (typically Microsoft DLLs and fonts) and tweak settings required for some applications to run correctly under Wine.[57] It can fully automate the install of a number of apps and games, including applying any needed workarounds. Winetricks has a GUI.[58] The Wine project will accept bug reports for users of Winetricks, unlike most third-party applications. It is maintained by Wine developer Austin English.[59]
Q4Wine is an open Gui for advanced setup of Wine.
Wine-Doors is an application-management tool for the GNOME desktop which adds functionality to Wine. Wine-Doors is an alternative to WineTools which aims to improve upon WineTools' features and extend on the original idea with a more modern design approach.[60]
IEs4Linux is a utility to install all versions of Internet Explorer, including versions 4 to 6 and version 7 (in beta).[61]
Wineskin is a utility to manage Wine engine versions and create wrappers for macOS.[62]
PlayOnLinux is an application to ease the installation of Windows applications (primarily games). There is also a corresponding Macintosh version called PlayOnMac.
Lutris is an open source application to easily install Windows games on Linux.[63]
Bordeaux is a proprietary Wine GUI configuration manager that runs winelib applications. It also supports installation of third-party utilities, installation of applications and games, and the ability to use custom configurations. Bordeaux currently runs on Linux, FreeBSD, PC-BSD, Solaris, OpenSolaris, OpenIndiana,[64][65] and macOS computers.
Functionality[edit]
The developers of the Direct3D portions of Wine have continued to implement new features such as pixel shaders to increase game support.[66] Wine can also use native DLLs directly, thus increasing functionality, but then a license for Windows is needed unless the DLLs were distributed with the application itself.
Wine also includes its own open-source implementations of several Windows programs, such as notepad, wordpad, control, iexplore, and explorer.[67]
The Wine Application Database (AppDB) is a community-maintained on-line database about which Windows programs works with Wine and how well they work.
Backward compatibility[edit]
Wine ensures good backward compatibility with legacy Windows applications, including those written for Windows 3.1x.[68] Wine can mimic different Windows versions required for some programs, going as far back as Windows version 2.0.[69] However, Windows 1.x and Windows 2.x support was removed from Wine development version 1.3.12. If DOSBox is installed on the system[citation needed] (see below on MS-DOS), Wine development version 1.3.12 and later nevertheless show the 'Windows 2.0' option for the Windows version to mimic, but Wine still won't run most Windows 2.0 programs because MS-DOS and Windows functions are not currently integrated.
Backward compatibility in Wine is superior to that of Windows, as newer versions of Windows can force users to upgrade legacy Windows applications. In many cases, Wine can offer better legacy support than newer versions of Windows with 'Compatibility Mode'. Wine can run 16-bit Windows programs on a 64-bit operating system, which uses an x86-64 (64-bit) CPU, [70] a functionality not found in 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows.[71][72]
Wine partially supports Windows console applications, and the user can choose which backend to use to manage the console (choices include raw streams, curses, and user32).[73] When using the raw streams or curses backends, Windows applications will run in a Unix terminal.
64-bit applications[edit]
Preliminary support for 64-bit Windows applications was added to Wine 1.1.10, in December 2008.[74] As of April 2019, the support is considered stable. The two versions of wine are built separetely, and as a result only building wine64 produces an environment only capable of running x86-64 applications.[75]
As of April 2019, Wine has stable support for a WoW64 build, which allows both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows applications to run inside the same Wine instance. To perform such a build, one must first build the 64-bit version, and then build the 32-bit version referencing the 64-bit version. Just like Microsoft's WoW64, the 32-bit build process will add parts necessary for handling 32-bit programs to the 64-bit build.[75] This functionality is seen from at least 2010.[76]
MS-DOS[edit]
Early versions of Microsoft Windows run on top of MS-DOS and Windows programs may depend on MS-DOS programs being runnable. Wine does not have good support for MS-DOS, but starting with development version 1.3.12, Wine tries running MS-DOS programs in DOSBox if DOSBox is available on the system.[77] However, due to a bug, current versions of Wine incorrectly identify Windows 1.x and Windows 2.x programs as MS-DOS programs, attempting to run them in DOSBox (which does not work).[78]
Winelib[edit]
Wine provides Winelib, which allows its shared-object implementations of the Windows API to be used as actual libraries for a Unix program. This allows for Windows code to be bulit into native Unix executables. Since October 2010, Winelib also works on the ARM platform.[79]
Non-x86 architectures[edit]
Support for Solaris SPARC was dropped in version 1.5.26.
ARM, Windows CE, and Windows RT[edit]
Wine provides some support for ARM (as well as ARM64/AArch64) processors and the Windows flavors that run on it. As of April 2019, Wine can run ARM/Win32 applications intended for unlocked Windows RT devices (but not Windows RT programs). Windows CE support (either x86 or ARM) is missing,[80] but an unofficial, pre-alpha proof-of-concept version called WineCE allows for some support.[81]4
Wine for Android[edit]
On 3 February 2013 at the FOSDEM talk in Brussels, Alexandre Julliard demonstrated an early demo of Wine running on Google's Android operating system.[82]
Experimental builds of WINE for Android (x86 and ARM) were released in late 2017. It has been routinely updated by the official developers ever since.[83] The default builds does not implement cross-architecture emulation via QEMU, and as a result ARM versions will only run ARM applications that use the Win32 API.[84]
Microsoft applications[edit]
Wine, by default, uses specialized Windows builds of Gecko and Mono to substitute for Microsoft's Internet Explorer and .NET framework. Wine has built-in implementations of JScript and VBScript. It is possible to download and run Microsoft's installers for those programs through winetricks or manually.
Wine is not known to have good support for most versions of Internet Explorer. Of all the reasonably recent versions, Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP is the only version that reports a usable rating on Wine's AppDB, out-of-the-box.[85] Winetricks offer auto-installation for Internet Explorer 6 through 8, so these versions can be reasonably expected to work with its built-in workarounds.
An alternative for installing Internet Explorer directly is to use the now-defunct IEs4Linux. It is not compatible with the latest versions of Wine,[86] and the development of IEs4Linux is inactive.
Other versions of Wine[edit]
The core Wine development aims at a correct implementation of the Windows API as a whole and has sometimes lagged in some areas of compatibility with certain applications. Direct3D, for example, remained unimplemented until 1998,[87] although newer releases have had an increasingly complete implementation.[88]
CrossOver[edit]
Main article: CrossOver (software)
CodeWeavers markets CrossOver specifically for running Microsoft Office and other major Windows applications, including some games. CodeWeavers employs Alexandre Julliard to work on Wine and contributes most of its code to the Wine project under the LGPL. CodeWeavers also released a new version called CrossOver Mac for Intel-based Apple Macintosh computers on 10 January 2007.[89]
CrossOver now includes the functionality of both the CrossOver Games and CrossOver Pro lines therefore CrossOver Games and CrossOver Pro are no longer available as single products.[90]
CrossOver Games was optimized for running Windows video games. Unlike CrossOver, it didn't focus on providing the most stable version of Wine. Instead, experimental features are provided to support newer games.[91]
Cedega / WineX[edit]
Findev Inc. produced the proprietary Cedega software. Formerly known as WineX, Cedega represented a fork from the last MIT-licensed version of Wine in 2002. Much like CrossOver Games, Findev's Cedega was targeted towards running Windows video games. On 7 January 2011, Findev Inc. announced continued development of Cedega Technology under the GameTree Developer Program. Findev Inc. allowed members to keep using their Cedega ID and password until 28 February 2011.[92]
Cider[edit]
Findev has also produced Cider, a library for Apple–Intel architecture Macintoshes. Instead of being an end-user product, Cider (like Winelib) is a wrapper allowing developers to adapt their games to run natively on Intel Mac without any changes in source code.
WINE@Etersoft[edit]
The Russian company Etersoft has been developing a proprietary version of Wine since 2006. WINE@Etersoft supports popular Russian applications (for example, 1C:Enterprise by 1C Company).[93] For 2010, Etersoft was going to issue WINE@Etersoft CAD, which is oriented towards CAD systems such as AutoCAD, BricsCAD, and Compass-3D.
Darwine[edit]
Darwine is a port of the Wine libraries to Darwin and to macOS for both the PowerPC and Intel x86 architectures. All patches for x86 version were merged back into the main branch of Wine in 2009. Development on the PPC version was abandoned. Mike Kronenberg previously created the WineHelper for Darwine to add a GUI and macOS style app for interacting with Wine, which was later replaced by WineBottler.[94] Darwine now provides macOS compatible packages compiled from the Wine repository.[95]
Pipelight[edit]
The Pipelight Team has produced a custom version of Wine (wine-compholio) that acts as a wrapper for Windows NPAPI plugins within Linux browsers.[96] This tool permits Linux users to run Microsoft Silverlight, the Microsoft equivalent of Adobe Flash, and the Unity web plugin, along with a variety of other NPAPI plugins. The project provides an extensive set of patches against the upstream Wine project,[97] some of which occasionally get approved and added to upstream Wine. Pipelight is largely obsolete, as modern browsers no longer support NPAPI plugins and Silverlight has been deprecated by Microsoft.[98]
Proton[edit]
On 21 August 2018, Valve announced a new variation of Wine, named Proton, designed to integrate with the Linux version of the company's Steam software (including Steam installations built into their Linux-based SteamOS operating system and Steam Machine computers).[99] Valve's goal for Proton is to enable Steam users on Linux to play games which lack a native Linux port (particularly back-catalog games), and ultimately, through integration with Steam as well as improvements to game support relative to mainline Wine, to give users 'the same simple plug-and-play experience' that they would get if they were playing the game natively on Linux.[99] Proton entered public beta immediately upon being announced.[99]
Wineskin Winery Mac 64 Bit Mac
Valve had already been collaborating with CodeWeavers since 2016 to develop improvements to Wine's gaming performance, some of which have already been merged to the upstream Wine project.[99] Some of the specific improvements incorporated into Proton include Vulkan-based Direct3D 10, 11, and 12 implementations via vkd3d[100] and DXVK[101], multi-threaded performance improvements via esync[102], improved handling of fullscreen games, and better automatic game controller hardware support.[99]
Proton is fully open-source and available via GitHub.[103]
Other projects using Wine source code[edit]
Other projects using Wine source code include:
ReactOS, a project to write an operating system compatible with Windows NT versions 5.x and up (which includes Windows 2000 and its successors) down to the device driver level. ReactOS uses Wine source code considerably, but because of architectural differences, ReactOS code (such as DLLs written specifically for it, like ntdll, user32, kernel32, gdi32, and advapi) is not generally reused in Wine.[104] In July 2009, Aleksey Bragin, the ReactOS project lead, started[105] a new ReactOS branch called Arwinss,[106] and it was officially announced in January 2010.[107] Arwinss is an alternative implementation of the core Win32 components, and uses mostly unchanged versions of Wine's user32.dll and gdi32.dll.
WineBottler[94], a wrapper around Wine in the form of a normal Mac Application. Manages multiple wine configurations for different programs in the form of 'bottles.'
Wineskin, an open source Wine GUI configuration manager for macOS. Wineskin creates a wrapper around Wine in the form of a normal Mac Application. The wrapper can also be used to make a distributable 'port' of software.[108]
Odin, a project to run Win32 binaries on OS/2 or convert them to OS/2 native format. The project also provides the Odin32 API to compile Win32 programs for OS/2.
E/OS, a project attempting to allow any program designed for any operating system to be run without the need to actually install any other operating system.
Virtualization products such as Parallels Desktop for Mac and VirtualBox use WineD3D to make use of the GPU.
WinOnX, a commercial package of Wine for macOS that includes a GUI for adding and managing applications and virtual machines.
Reception[edit]
The Wine project has received a number of technical and philosophical complaints and concerns over the years.
Security[edit]
Because of Wine's ability to run Windows binary code, concerns have been raised over native Windows viruses and malware affecting Unix-like operating systems.[109] Wine can run most malware, but programs running in Wine are confined to the current user's privileges, restricting some undesirable consequences. For this reason the developers of Wine recommend never running it as the superuser.[110] Malware research software such as ZeroWine[111] runs Wine on Linux in a virtual machine, to keep the malware completely isolated from the host system.
Another security concern is when the implemented specifications are ill-designed and allow for security compromise. Because Wine implements these specs, it will also implement any security vulnerabilities they contain. An instance of this problem is the 2006 Windows Metafile vulnerability, which sees Wine implementing the vulnerable SETABORTPROC escape.[112]

Wine vs. native Unix applications[edit]
A common concern about Wine is that its existence means that vendors are less likely to write native Linux, macOS, and BSD applications. As an example of this, it is worth considering IBM's 1994 operating system, OS/2 Warp. An article describes the weaknesses of OS/2 which killed it, the first one being:
OS/2 offered excellent compatibility with DOS and Windows 3.1 applications. No, this is not an error. Many application vendors argued that by developing a DOS or Windows app, they would reach the OS/2 market in addition to DOS/Windows markets and they didn't develop native OS/2 applications.[113]
The Wine project itself responds to these complaints on one of its wiki pages:
For most people there remain a handful of programs locking them in to Windows. It's obvious there will never be a Microsoft Office ported to Linux, however older versions of programs like TurboTax won't be ported either. Similarly, there are tens of thousands of games and internal corporate applications which will never be ported. If you want to use Linux and rely on any legacy Windows application, something like Wine is essential... Wine makes Linux more useful and allows for millions of users to switch who couldn't otherwise. This greatly raises Linux marketshare, drawing more commercial and community developers to Linux.[114]
Also, the Wine Wiki page claims that Wine can help break the chicken-and-egg problem for Linux on the desktop:[115]
This brings us to the chicken and egg issue of Linux on the desktop. Until Linux can provide equivalents for the above applications, its market share on the desktop will stagnate. But until the market share of Linux on the desktop rises, no vendor will develop applications for Linux. How does one break this vicious circle?
Again, Wine can provide an answer. By letting users reuse the Windows applications they have invested time and money in, Wine dramatically lowers the barrier that prevents users from switching to Linux. This then makes it possible for Linux to take off on the desktop, which increases its market share in that segment. In turn, this makes it viable for companies to produce Linux versions of their applications, and for new products to come out just for the Linux market. This reasoning could be dismissed easily if Wine was only capable of running Solitaire. However, now it can run Microsoft Office, multimedia applications such as QuickTime and Windows Media Player, and even games such as Max Payne or Unreal Tournament 3. Almost any other complex application can be made to run well given a bit of time. And each time that work is done to add one application to this list, many other applications benefit from this work and become usable too.Have a look at our Application Database to get an idea on what can be run under Wine.
The use of Wine for gaming has proved specifically controversial in the Linux community, as some feel it is preventing, or at least hindering, the further growth of native Linux gaming on the platform.[116][117]
Microsoft[edit]
Microsoft has not made public statements about Wine. However, the Windows Update software will block updates to Microsoft applications running in Wine. On 16 February 2005, Ivan Leo Puoti discovered that Microsoft had started checking the Windows Registry for the Wine configuration key and would block the Windows Update for any component.[118] As Puoti noted: 'It's also the first time Microsoft acknowledges the existence of Wine.'

I had trouble with wine as well, but I was able to use wineskin. Hope this helps. http://wineskin.urgesoftware.com/tiki-index.php?page=Downloads
I tried Wineskin winery as well, unfortunately that seems to run into the exact same issues I've been trying with PlayOnMac's 64-bit prefix support as well, but not having any luck there either, I keep getting an error like: Seems to be something it doesn't like with the mono.dll bundled with Yiffalicious; I assume it's custom compiled for the program though, because if I try replacing it with one from a mono installation I get a bunch of missing function errors instead.
I've been able to run in under Wineskin on a Mac using wrapper Wineskin-2.6.2. Here's my settings: 1. Run Winetricks and install the core fonts package. 2. Screen options: Automatic, turn off all other options. 3. Choose the yiffalicious_novr.exe as the program executable. 4. Try running it first in a window at the lowest resolution and working your way up. It only runs on my older 13' Macbook at the 'Simple' setting. I got it to run on a newer iMac on 'Beautiful'. Good luck
Run under Ubuntu linux with wine 3.0 stable perfectly.

Aha! It was memory that was the problem for the 32-bit install, I dialled it right back to Fastest and it started up quite happily. I guess I'll just work my way up and see what I can get it to. Can't believe I didn't think to try that first! *facepalms* I wish I could get the 64-bit version to run, as it wouldn't have this problem, but I can't get past the mono.dll issue at all. Thanks everyone who replied! Well, now that it's running I guess I'm not going any work done for the rest of today

So it seems 32-bit Yiffalicious can handle Simple quality at 720p on all levels except office (and possible fantasy, I didn't try that). Looks like that one won't load at any size/quality under 32-bit, so I've had to use the trick of swapping it for a copy of level2. Anyway, next challenge, anyone know why Yiffalicious wouldn't be recognising my main monitor? It only seems to recognise my secondary monitor with a resolution of 1680x1050, but not my main monitor (actually an HDTV) supporting 1080p. Because of this I can't run fullscreen at any resolution because the game launches onto the wrong monitor, but in windowed mode I'm limited to sizes that would fit my second screen, so I can't really fill the main monitor using the window. WINE seems to be detecting my screens just fine, in fact I can see them in regedit under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Wine/Mac Driver/Initial Display Mode, but they're in the wrong order (my secondary display is listed first) which may be part of the problem. Any ideas?

Inktober Day 11. Seasons
This is probably the shittiest thing I’ve ever written so I apologise it’s a mess
Yay day 11!
@iffy-kanoknit
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There’s a yearning in autumn. Mourning the warmth, and the lives who fell like the leaves in a melody of orange, yellow and brown. Cold winds, and chapped hearts, slowly stacking the house of cards back up, piece by piece.
Eggsy in autumn is wit and jokes, but also quiet tears around corners when no one else is listening. A bowling ball of guilt carried around beneath that immaculate bespoke, game face slapped on so no one, not even the people closest to him realise he is crumbling.
But Harry knows. Harry sees the misery behind the laughs, the true source of determination behind the rebuilding process of Kingsman. And Harry is the one who finds Eggsy at his lowest, in the safety of their rented home, and holds him as he shatters. Tears for Roxy and the other Kingsman knights, for Merlin,for Brandon and his precious pug, JB. For all his sins, begging inbetween sobs for Harry, for god to forgive him for his mistakes, that led to so much destruction.
Eggsy in autumn is a glass man- everything looks shiny and wonderful on the outside, but if he drops, he will break. But he finds the strength to hold Harry up too, when gospel music makes older knees go shaky, and a single gunshot rips Harry from sleep, screaming. His young love wipes the sweat from his brow, and sings sweet nothing until Harry surrenders back to sleep.
In winter there’s redemption.
Winter and its freezing kisses of snow and ice, with festivities that no one feels much like celebrating, after the year they’ve had. Plus HQ 2.0 isn’t even close to finished yet, the tailor shop is finished, but none of Kingsman’s several new employees, poached from the FBI, CIA, MI5 and various other organisations have been around long enough to form real bonds. So Harry spends Christmas alone. Except for Eggsy. With snowflakes dusting his shoulders and cheeks flushed pink, numb with cold, putting freezing toes on Harry’s back in bed. Grey skies that make green eyes pop against all the white, rugged up against the chill. A bleak pallor still hangs over them both, but Michelle Unwin’s Christmas cooking and Daisy’s happy shrieks manage to chase away the gloom, even just for a little while. Especially when just after New Years, a cyber-legged Scotsman walks back into HQ one morning without warning, accompanied by a hulking cowboy, demanding to know where his office was and to give him his bloody clipboard back.
It’s the first time Harry’s seen Eggsy genuinely laugh since before Kentucky. And then they all burst into tears, with poor Tequila caught in the midst of an unforgiving group hug. The world seems a lot more palatable with the knowledge that Merlin was still in it.
Once they finally get over the unexpected return of the resident tech whiz, spring wafts around. Thing that went wrong last year have been buried, and from the ashes born anew.
Time might not heal all wounds, but it does allow for processing, for grieving, for acceptance. So Harry buys Eggsy a plane ticket to Stockholm, because the boy hadn’t the courage to do it himself, and tells him, genuinely, honestly, to go and finalise the divorce. The heart gives in to commonalities, the fickle thing. Because the wordless, raw understanding of each other’s emotions, each other’s pain may have draw Eggsy and Harry together, like moths to a flame. But this understanding also broke many other things- trust, fidelity. The heart of a Swedish princess.
It’s slightly scary, sending a young lover off to meet with his ex. Harry does worry that these newly budding petals of Eggsy’s will be chapped again by frost. But Tilde agrees. So when Eggsy comes home at the end of the week, Harry sits on the sofa and strokes his lover’s delicate blond locks with one hand, Hamish’s silky fur with the other, and listens. To how the princess and the spy drank their way through a good portion of Sweden’s best wine as they signed the divorce papers, hugged, cried and woke up with horrific hangovers.That shotgun wedding built on glass and misconceptions, on selfish motives and agendas, replaced with true understanding and a vow of lifelong friendship. Because true strength is not pushing something broken to the very edge, but recognising when it’s time to give up a long dead ghost. Love, but not in that way, from both fronts. And more than a bit of relief from the King and Queen, who Harry he knew didn’t approve from the start, but feigns surprise when Eggsy announces this fact. Because sometimes, words need cushions.
But that trip, though heartrending, seems to only fertilise the tender fronds sprouting from Eggsy. He throws his heart and soul into Kingsman, even more so than before- but a different kind of dedication to the solemn, teeth gritting slog of months prior. This is effortless, joyful, honouring the memories of those fallen as they would want to be remembered. And hands that make Harry’s coffee just right, in his favourite mug, steaming for him each morning on his desk. Harry Hart sees the young man he picked up from Holborn police station again, new and improved, as the puzzle pieces fall back into place. This Eggsy has a flicker of his spark back, a matchstick in a tunnel.
Summer, glorious summer. New faces, old faces. New mansion, old location, with a beautiful memorial fountain inlaid with a certain logo. Old Harry and old Eggsy, but also new ones, blended together like coffee and milk, until none could tell where the old or new began. Maybe item does heal all wounds, because Eggsy shines, almost so brightly Harry’s eyes hurt. The past, carried with him every single day, but learnt from, grown from, the fuel that pushes the boy to take that extra mission, fire that extra shot, push harder. And to come home to Harry each time, sing in the shower, leave the bedcovers messy, and live. Truly live each day, with vigor, and love, and humanity.
Because each burning step uphill, every setback, every heartbreak; every laugh, every tear, every breath or heartbeat; in autumn, in winter, in spring and summer; solidifies what Harry already knows. And what Merlin, Tequila and eventually all of Kingsman’s newly forged knights have been groaning to Harry about.
“Eggsy?”
That strong jaw turns to face him in their kitchen, sleeves rolled to elbows, halfway through the washing up. There’s a tiny dot of pasta sauce on the younger man’s cheek, and Harry absently rubs it off with his thumb. “I love you, my dear boy.”
A toothy smile turns Eggsy’s lips in the way Harry knows they do, just for him. “I know.”
