training partners (pt. 14)
summary: you accompany hugh to the new york premiere of deadpool & wolverine - the first hollywood event that you're attending by his side since the both of you had gotten together. pairing: hugh jackman x fem!reader warnings: smut (18+, mdni), unprotected p in v, missionary (kind of?), slow and sensual bc they in love 🤭, creampie, implied age gap (hugh is 55, reader is in late 20s-early 30s), reader physical description (hair and clothes only) no use of y/n. word count: 3.9k a/n: wow - another early update, who am i??? lol, hope y'all enjoyed this part. i really just wanted to write a smutty chapter surrounding the NY premiere of the movie. stay tuned because the angst is coming back - it's just right around the corner... as always, this is purely fictional! i mean no disrespect to hugh jackman. prev part. - next part.
You had finally moved all of your things into Hugh’s apartment and slowly, your things blend in with his – your clothes hung next to his in the closet, your toiletries on the bathroom counter mixed with his own, and you both had claimed each side of the bed already. It surprises you how easy it is with him, how normal this all feels. Sometimes, you find yourself dreaming of what your life would look like years from now and the only constant thing is him. Hugh.
It scares you – how much you love him and how much he loves you. After Jack, you didn’t think you’d find someone to love you the way Hugh does, the way someone should be loved. And even months after moving in, you had been originally worried that maybe he’d get tired of you, that he’d want his own space from you, but it never came. He truly meant it when he said he was addicted to you because every chance he could get since you’ve moved in, Hugh would have to be touching you – a hand on your shoulder as you both watch a movie in the living room, one arm wrapped around your lower back as you both stand next to each other cooking dinner, cuddling you from behind every night.
You do, however, enjoy coming home to him after a day of shooting. He’d always be there with a smile, greeting you in the driveway. Some nights, you don’t go to bed until late at night, having to edit the photographs that you’ve taken for couples and periodically editing the pictures you’ve taken from the set of Deadpool & Wolverine. And when you do lose track of time, Hugh’s there to gently rest his hands on your shoulders from behind, leaning down to place a light kiss on your temple. He’d whisper and tell you that it’s time to go to bed, slowly shutting your laptop and pulling you into his arms.
You’ve been increasingly busy that you forget the premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine is fast approaching. You’re standing in the closet, arms crossed over your chest as you look through your clothes. You aren’t sure what you’re going to wear and you feel anxious, nervous to attend the premiere. It’s the first time that you’ll be accompanying Hugh to a Hollywood event, the first time debuting your relationship with him and you don’t know what to expect. There are still comments from pictures that he posts of you on his Instagram, questioning the age gap and questioning your true intentions. You don’t think that you’d ever get used to that aspect of his life and while you’ve gotten better at shutting out those negative comments, you’d be lying if you said that it no longer affects you.
You hear Hugh shuffle into the closet, his strong arms wrapping around you from behind. He presses a kiss to your temple and looks at your clothes, confused. “What are we looking at in here?”
“I don’t know what to wear for the premiere. I can’t believe I forgot that it was this weekend. I’ve just been so busy and–”
Hugh chuckles, turning you around slowly in his arms. “Baby, I got it all taken care of. Don’t worry about it.”
“Even what I’m going to wear?”
Hugh nods. “Yes. You’ve shown me your calendar. I know you were gonna be busy leading up to the premiere, so I had everything done for you.”
“Even my dress?” you repeat, brow arching.
“Yes, baby,” he chuckles. “I actually had Blake help me out with it, told me that it’d be a surprise.”
“You don’t even know what I’m gonna wear? Hugh!”
“Baby, whatever you wear is gonna look good regardless,” he smiles, leaning down to kiss the tip of your nose. “All I know is that it’s black to match with my suit and that I’m gonna like it a lot.”
“But what about me?” you laugh quietly. “Am I going to like it?”
“I hope so,” he laughs.
“Well, I trust Blake,” you smile, leaning forward to rest your forehead against his chest.
“Are you saying you don’t trust me to get you a nice dress?” Hugh asks, gently pulling back to look down into your eyes.
“... yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying,” you grin mischievously, slowly pulling away from him to step back.
Hugh’s eyes narrow down at you and walk towards you, reaching out for you. “Where ya going, baby? Hm?”
“Just… you know, away from you,” you laugh, turning on your heel and running out of the closet.
Hugh chuckles and jogs after you, wrapping his arms around your waist from behind as he gently falls back on the bed with you. He hovers above you, his hands slowly moving along your sides. “Tell me again, you don’t trust me to pick out a nice dress for you?”
“Hugh, don’t even think about it,” you tell him, reaching for his hands. He chuckles and grabs your wrists with one of his large hands and pins them above your head, parting your legs with his own as he settles between the space of your legs. “Hugh!”
“What, baby?”
“You know what!”
“I don’t,” he smirks. “Do tell.”
“Don’t tickle me! You know I’m ticklish,” you smile, squirming against him. “I take it back. I do trust you. I trust you completely.”
Hugh chuckles and moves his hand from your side to rest on your hip, leaning down to peck your lips lightly. “I wouldn’t trust me to pick out a dress for you either,” he smiles. “But I do like teasing you like this, holding you down until you can’t move.” His gaze darkens briefly as he presses his hips into yours, his manhood hardening beneath the fabric.
“I like it too,” you admit, biting your lower lip. “I like being at your mercy.”
“You do, huh?” Hugh grins, moving his lips along your jawline and down the side of your neck. “Then why don’t you listen sometimes, hm?”
“To be punished,” you answer immediately, eyes falling shut when you feel his teeth graze your pulse point.
“Such a bad girl,” he growls, pulling back to look down at you. “And now, what are we gonna be? Good or bad?”
“What do you want me to be, Hugh?” you ask, licking your lower lip in anticipation.
Hugh smirks, moving his hand from your hip to push underneath your shirt. “Surprise me,” he whispers, his hand moving upwards until his hand covers your breast, thumb brushing against your nipple.
“Good, then,” you groan, legs wrapping around his waist. “I’ll be good…”
“Yeah, you will,” Hugh smirks and then pulls away from you to stand from the bed, eyes gazing every inch of your body. “Now be a good girl and turn to lie on your stomach, ass in the air, baby.”
“Yes, sir,” you answer, turning over like he asked and resting on your forearms as you push your backside in the air for him.
“Sir?” Hugh groans, moving a hand over your ass as he pushes his hips flush against yours. “I like that.” He hooks his fingers into the waistband of your shorts and pulls it down your legs, grunting at the sight of your lace panties. “Gonna make you feel real good, honey.”
—
The day of the premiere, you feel your nerves begin to settle in. You’re standing in the bathroom, fingers running over the black dress that hangs against the door. Your make-up remains light and your hair is pulled back into a neat bun, strands of curled hair falling over your face.
“You almost ready, baby?” Hugh calls out, adjusting the sleeves of his button-down shirt as he pulls on the black blazer.
“Yeah, one sec,” you answer, pulling on the black dress that immediately clings to your curves. You look over yourself, biting your lower lip at the sight. The black maxi dress is sleeveless with a high neckline, the silhouette of the dress enhancing your curves with your back exposed due to the low cut of the dress. Taking a deep breath, you step out of the bathroom and watch Hugh turn around to face you.
“My god,” he growls. Hugh gently takes your hand and slowly spins you around in front of him, eyes gazing your entire frame from top to bottom and bottom to top. “Remind me to thank Blake tonight. Wow, baby,” he bites his lower lip and leans down to peck your lips lightly. “You look amazing.”
“Blake knows my style,” you smile, looking up at him. “But look at you,” you bring your hands to the lapels of his blazer, gently tugging it to bring him closer to you. “Think we can, you know,” you wink suggestively, wiggling your eyebrows.
“It won’t be a quick one if we start now,” he groans. “But you can guarantee that I’m gonna have my way with you when we get home.”
“Okay, okay,” you laugh quietly, pointing to the heels that are resting near the bed. “Can you help me with my heels?”
Hugh nods, hands running down your sides before he kneels in front of you. You take a seat at the edge of the bed, watching him place each foot into your heels, his hands lingering along your calf, yearning to move further and further up.
“Hugh,” you warn.
“Sorry, baby. You just look fucking breathtaking.” He stands up slowly, extending a hand out for you to take. Once you do, Hugh pulls you to stand in front of him, leaning down to press his lips against yours. His free hand moves to your back, brushing his thumb across your skin as he moves his lips slowly with your own. “Gonna be tough to keep my hands to myself tonight,” he mumbles, slowly pulling away.
You laugh quietly and shake your head, moving your hands up to his shoulders. “Can I be honest with you?”
“Of course,” he says softly. “What’s up?”
“I’m nervous,” you admit. “I know people are aware that we’re together, but this – it feels different.”
Hugh’s eyes soften as he reaches up to gently cup your cheek. “If you ever do feel uncomfortable, you let me know, okay?”
You nod and turn your head to gently press a light kiss on the inside of his wrist. “You won’t leave my side, right?”
“Never,” he whispers. “It’s gonna be okay. Besides, with that dress you’ve got on?” Hugh whistles, winking down at you. “People are gonna be more focused on how good you look rather than the topic of us.”
You roll your eyes and gently nudge his shoulder. “Yeah, yeah.” Biting your lower lip, you look up at him and lean up to gently kiss his cheek. “I love you. Let’s go do this.”
—
You look out the window when the car comes to a stop. You can hear the loud cheering from the fans, followed by the sounds of the cameramen flashing their cameras and calling out names. You take a deep breath and look up at Hugh who climbs out of the car first, waving to the crowd as it roars even louder.
He extends a hand out for you and smiles – his eyes gaze into yours and all of a sudden, nothing else matters except for him. You drown out the sounds of the fans, the sounds of the cameras and take his hand, slowly stepping out of the car. Hugh leans in and kisses your temple as he keeps a strong arm around your waist, leading you towards the red carpet.
You look around and lean into Hugh, following his lead. You’re beginning to feel overwhelmed, hearing people call Hugh’s name followed by your own. You glance over at Hugh, amazed at how easy it is for him to slip into a persona that the media and his fans know, but when he gazes down at you, he smiles and it feels like it’s just the two of you. It’s a glimpse of the man that you’ve gotten the chance to know on a much more personal level, the man that you had fallen in love with, the man that only you get a chance to see.
“You doing okay?” Hugh whispers, keeping his eyes focused on you despite the repeated calls of his name.
“I’m with you,” you answer. “I’m doing great.”
Hugh smiles, leaning down to peck your lips lightly. The fans cheer even louder and the cameramen become even more crazed at the sight and you rest your hand on his chest, burying your face against the crook of his neck. “Getting all shy on me now, baby.”
“Not used to this many eyes on us,” you whisper, looking up at him.
“Well,” Hugh hums. “I’m so glad I can finally show you off to the world.”
“Ah, so that’s what this is?” you tease.
“Oh, of course. Just arm candy,” Hugh winks.
You gasp playfully and lean in once more to peck his lips. “Careful now, Hugh. Or else nothing’s gonna happen when we get back home.”
His gaze darkens momentarily, his hand itching to grasp your backside. Hugh drops his hand just to rest on your lower back, his fingertips resting at the top of your ass. “Feisty,” he chuckles.
Hugh continues leading you down the red carpet and he keeps a tight hold on your waist, keeping you close to his side. He can’t even focus, his sole attention on you as you smile at the cameras and even wave to the fans. He couldn’t even believe that you didn’t envision how you fit so easily into his life in the beginning of your relationship with him. This was all Hugh could see – you. You fit so perfectly in his life, so easily…
“Oh my god, Blake!” you exclaim, pulling Hugh out of his thoughts as you release your own hold on him to walk over to the other woman. He smiles to himself, seeing both you and Blake converse with each other but he can’t help his eyes stay focused on you. It isn’t until Hugh feels Ryan’s hands on his shoulders that he pulls his attention from you to look over at the other man.
“Your girl looks gorgeous,” Ryan chuckles, standing next to Hugh.
“I gotta thank Blake for that dress she’s wearing,” Hugh smiles. “And Blake looks great too, Ryan.”
“We are just two lucky sonofabitches, huh?”
“Yeah,” Hugh nods. “I still can’t believe it,” he admits, his eyes moving back to you as you pose next to Blake. Even in the midst of this chaos – the yelling of his name, the sounds of the cameras going off, the lights from the flashes – Hugh can only see you and everything else just fades into the background.
You turn your head to the side to gaze at him, your smile broadening even further at the sight of him. Ryan looks between both you and Hugh and rolls his eyes, scoffing teasingly.
“You know, I figured the honeymoon phase would have worn off by now, but Jesus! She’s looking at you with those fuc–”
“Okay, okay,” Hugh laughs. “Let’s not finish that thought, yeah, mate?”
“Fine,” Ryan sighs dramatically. “Let’s go to our girls.”
“Yeah, let’s,” Hugh smiles, yearning to have you by his side.
—
Both you and Hugh didn’t get home until late at night, his arm wrapped around your shoulders as you giggled into the crook of his neck. He had removed his suit jacket to drape around you, to keep you warm, but your hands are roaming his body.
“You’re drunk, baby,” Hugh chuckles, leading you inside of your now-shared home.
“Not drunk, tipsy.” You smile, following him up the stairs and into the bedroom. You take a seat at the edge of the bed and prop yourself on your hands, biting your lower lip as you watch Hugh remove his shoes and remove the belt from the loops of his pants.
“Come ‘ere,” you call out, shrugging off his blazer as you reach down to remove your heels.
“What d’ya want, baby?” Hugh asks, his gaze darkening as he looks at you. Once your heels are kicked off to the side, you stand up and walk over to him, his eyes raking your entire frame as his pants become increasingly tighter at the sight of you.
“Thank you for dancing with me all night,” you grin.
“I wouldn’t ever let you dance alone, baby,” Hugh smiles, his hands resting on your hips. “As long as I’m around, I’ll always be your dance partner.”
You look into his eyes and smile, leaning in to lightly peck his lips. “First we’re training partners at the gym,” you giggle. “And now we’re dancing partners.”
“Well, we make a great team, you and me.”
“Yeah?” you bite your lower lip. “I think so too.”
“I love you so much,” Hugh whispers, hands moving along your sides. “Tonight was amazing and I loved having you by my side through it all.”
You feel yourself begin to sober up at the look in his eyes, the way his voice lowers. The love you had for each other just blossomed even further since you moved in. “You made it easy,” you admit. “And your fans – they’re amazing.”
“They just see what I see,” Hugh answers. “Someone so kind, so loving,” he whispers, leaning down to gently press kisses along your neck. “And someone who makes me incredibly happy.”
Your arms come up to wrap around his shoulders, shutting your eyes as you tilt your head back enough to expose more of your neck for him. His soft lips brush against your skin, his light stubble tickling you as a quiet whimper escapes your lips. “Hugh…”
“Yeah, baby?” he mumbles, pulling back to look down at you.
“I need you,” you whisper. “Want you.”
Hugh nods and lifts you up into his arms, walking you back to the bed as he sets you down. He hovers above you, bunching up the ends of your dress to rest around your hips to reveal your black lacy thong. “M’right here, honey.”
He continues to push your dress further up your body until you lift it over your head and he shrugs it off to the side. Hugh pulls back to look down at you, the sight of your matching bra and panties making him even harder by the second. He reaches around you and undoes the strap of your bra, pulling it away from your body to expose your breasts to him. He lets out an involuntary groan at the sight and leans back on his knees to unbutton his black shirt, pushing it off his body.
Hugh stands up from the bed, only to undo his pants and push it down his legs with his boxer briefs. His manhood springs to attention, the head already leaking with precome. He grabs your ankle and tugs you towards the edge of the bed, hearing you let out a quiet gasp. He smiles down at you and hooks his fingers into the waistband of your thong, pulling it down your legs as you lie before completely exposed and bare.
“Been wanting you all night,” he groans, reaching down to grab a hold of his length. He tugs on it a couple of times before he steps closer to stand between your legs, seeing you prop yourself onto your elbows as your gaze moves downwards. “You were absolutely stunning tonight,” he whispers lowly, pressing his tip to your bundle of nerves and running it along the length of your sex. He feels your arousal dripping out of you, coating the head of his length.
“Hugh,” you moan, falling back onto the mattress.
Hugh smiles to himself and leans over you, free hand resting on the mattress above your head as he slowly pushes past into you. His gaze locks onto yours as he feels your walls surround each inch of his length – so warm, so wet, so tight.
You move your hands to his shoulders, gripping it tightly as the familiar stretch of his manhood overcomes your entire body. You keep your legs parted for him, feeling him push further into you inch by inch. “I love you,” you manage to moan out, his hips fully meeting yours. “Fuck.”
Hugh chuckles and moves his free hand to cup your cheek, brushing his thumb gently against your cheekbone. “I love you too, baby.” He pulls his hips back to his tip, looking down at himself and seeing the base of his length glisten with your slickness. Growling at the sight, Hugh thrusts back into you without hesitation and continues the movement slowly.
He pulls out of you slowly, standing upright as he hooks his hands underneath your legs and pulls you even closer to the edge of the bed. As he does this, his manhood slides easily into you and he grips your legs, watching your breasts begin to bounce with each push forward.
“Hugh, oh god…”
“Fuck, baby,” he groans, his fingertips digging into your flesh that’s sure going to leave marks later. He watches you tilt your head back, eyes falling shut as his hips begin to move faster. Hugh can feel your walls begin to tremble and tighten with each movement of his hips and the sounds of your moans mix in with the sounds of his skin slapping against yours. His eyes never leave you, mouth formed in an ‘o’ shape as you grip onto the bedsheets. “I know you’re close, baby… Come for me, honey.”
You wrap your legs around his waist, pushing him closer to you with a nudge to his lower back with your feet. You arch your back, feeling Hugh slowly begin to lose control. “Hugh!” you moan loudly, walls tightening even further around him as you arch your back off the bed.
“Fuck, that’s it,” he moans, his own eyes falling shut as he tilts his head back. Hugh moves one hand from your leg to rest back onto the mattress, his hips beginning to stutter as he feels his release fast approaching. He delivers one, two, three more thrusts before he slams into you, painting your walls with his come. He slows his thrusts, his entire body shuddering at the feel of your walls continuing to milk him for every last drop.
“Hugh,” you whimper, gently bringing your hands to his chiseled chest and he leans down, pressing his lips lightly to yours.
“Mmm,” he mumbles against your ips, pulling back slowly as he rests his forehead against yours. “Love you.”
“I love you too, Hugh,” you smile, pecking his lips.
“Gonna be doing that every day until I leave for this press tour,” Hugh chuckles, slowly pulling out of you with a quiet groan.
“Good.” you smile, whimpering quietly as you feel him slide out of you. “I expect nothing less.”
Hugh smiles and then looks down between your legs, biting his lower lip at the sight of his come slowly trickling out of you. “Let me clean you up, baby.” He walks into the bathroom and grabs a small towel, dampening it with water as he walks back out into the bedroom, standing between your legs once more as he wipes his come from the inside of your legs.
You bite your lower lip and prop yourself on your forearms, leaning up to kiss his cheek. “I love you, Hugh.”
Hugh looks up at you, his eyes gazing into yours. “I’ll never get tired of hearing you say that,” he smiles. “I love you too, baby.”

I'm planning on this chapter be divided in two parts so this is part 1 of this chapter. Songs recommended, in order: people in the front row, end of beginning, angel of the morning.
Tags: mdni, graves x Lawyer wife reader, established relationship, mentions of sex, pregnancy.
Part 2, Series masterlist , M.list
You and Graves had a kid.
A daughter.
She was born with the best of you and your husband Phil.
Just after a year of being married you discovered you were pregnant. Thanks to the little rendezvous the night before your husband was leaving for his 364 days deployment in the middle east.
He was in Marines back then and you worked as a full time criminal lawyer at your father's Firm, one of the three top Law firms specializing in International Laws and Extradition.
You were learning international criminal law under one of the most recognizable lawyers and a dear friend of your father, Mona De La Sierre.
Everything was going smooth, your career was at peak and you were only in your late 20s, till you discovered...
You have missed your periods for 2 months.
At first you had your doubts, no way you could be pregnant right? But its been 2 and half months since you and Phil had- no! Lets not have false hope. A simple pregnancy test will reveal whatever it is!
You sat on the toilet seat of the housing quarter. You had done 3 pregnancy tests and they all came... positive.
And it started.
You couldn't believe you were pregnant. You wanted scream and yell out of happiness and let everyone know Mr and Mrs Graves are having a kid!
You wanted the first person to know about this to be none other than the perpetrator! You couldn't just wait to call him. But you had to wait because you can only call him at night due to different time zones.
Despite staying awake past midnight and 14 calls, none were answered. You tried one last time before giving up and call next day.
The 15th call was answered by someone else.
"Hello? Phil? Babe?", you asked nervously.
"Hello?" The voice said
"Ahem... I'm trying to reach Sergeant Phillip Graves. I'm his wife is he there?" You questioned on the line.
"Uh no maam im sorry but the Sergeant will not be available for four weeks."
"4 weeks? You gotta be kidding me!", you huffed in frustration.
"Thats what im told Mrs Graves."
--------------------------------------------------
4.5 weeks later.
Location: Marines Reconnaissance Base in [Redacted]
Sergeant Graves had returned to the base after leading a successful Recon mission without any casualties.
"Sergeant!" A marine called out for Graves in his tent, "sir you have a letter from home"
"Just in time", he chuckled as he sat down on his bed after a long and hard few weeks, finally resting on a proper bed instead of a dug out pit.
"The envelope looks big. Look out Graves, this could be divorce papers" one his teammates joked.
"Yeah totally. Chicks throw you divorce paper if you don't talk to em in every two hours. Haha", another one joined in
"Nah boys i don't think its that.", Philip tried to convince.
"Thats what captain Jerome said", another one jumped in and everyone started laughing. While Graves just shook his head while chuckling along and opening the envelope and started reading it.
He stood up straight out of shock, letter still in hand.
"Told ya its them divorce papers", the guys said.
"What is it Graves?", one of them asked in a serious tone now.
Everyone could still see the absolute shock on the Sergeant's face.
His heart was racing out of excitement, "Holy shit boys, im gonna be a father!", Graves said to his teammates.
Everyone in the tent started congratulating him and hugging the man. Some quipped with the question whether the kid is his or- Graves wouldn't let them finish and just hand them the DNA papers, solidifying his paternity.
The letter,
"My love, i hope you are doing well. I tried to reach you several times through call but i was informed that you are not available for 4 weeks.
Its an awful long time to wait to let everyone know. But remember this, i want YOU to be the first to know of this, that you are going to be a FATHER soon!
I checked in with the doctors and its confirmed! I am 3 months in. By the time you arrive, we'll be a family of three my bub.
And before you or your jarhead boys start questioning the legitimacy of OUR child, i will be attaching DNA tests as well, have fun.
So thats that. You are going to be a dad Phil! You better come back in one piece!
With love and warm hugs
Y/n L/n Graves xo".

Still with you - JK - MDNI - PART ONE
pairings : ex!jk x ex!reader
genre : fluff, angst
context : after breaking up with your boyfriend for 14 years for cheating on you, choosing to still stay with him in his apartment wasn't quite the best idea. especially after seperating.
warnings/contents : smut, mentions of ppregnancy, cheating, rape, unprotected sex, alcoholism, degrading, and this jungkook should be a warning.
songs : house of balloons, swim, into it, goodluck, babe, so high, bloodline
this fic only has maybe 2 or 3 chapters
I wake up on the couch, feeling the ache in my back from sleeping in the same uncomfortable position all night.
It takes a moment for everything to come rushing back—the familiar smell of his apartment, the soft hum of the refrigerator, and the memory of why I'm here in the first place.
I sit up slowly, wincing as I push the blanket off me. My clothes from yesterday are wrinkled, sticking to my skin in all the wrong places. I hate that I’m still here, stuck in this stupid situation, relying on him of all people. I run a hand through my tangled hair and look around, trying to remind myself that this is temporary. Just a month. I can survive a month.
The bedroom door creaks open, and I stiffen. Of course, he’s awake. Jungkook steps out, looking annoyingly casual in his sweatpants and t-shirt, his hair all messy like he just rolled out of bed. He sees me and flashes that stupid smile, the one that used to make my heart skip a beat. Now, it just makes me want to throw something.
"Morning," he says, his voice soft.
I don’t respond, refusing to meet his eyes as I start folding the blanket. Each movement is sharp, almost aggressive. I focus on the fabric in my hands, trying to keep my thoughts from spiraling. Why does he have to act like everything’s fine? Like he didn’t just cheat on me?
Jungkook walks past me to the kitchen, humming some tune under his breath. I hear the coffee maker sputter to life, and the smell of brewing coffee fills the room. It’s almost enough to calm me down. Almost.
"if you're still not over about that babe-" before he could utter a word, i cut him off " don't call me babe."
I grit my teeth and ignore him, the anger simmering just below the surface. The blanket finally folded, I toss it onto the couch with a little too much force and cross my arms, glaring at his back. He’s acting like nothing’s wrong, like he didn’t break my heart just a few weeks ago.
"I wouldn’t have to sleep on the couch if I didn’t have to be here in the first place," I mutter under my breath, knowing he’ll hear.
Jungkook pauses, glancing back at me. He leans against the counter, crossing his arms like this is just another one of our casual conversations. Like we’re still friends or something.
"You know you’re welcome to stay here as long as you need," he says, his tone irritatingly calm. "I don’t mind."
That’s not the point, Jungkook. I wouldn’t need to stay here if you hadn’t fucked up and cheat on me like i was nothing.
I stop myself before I go down that road again. We’ve been over this too many times, and it never ends well. I bite my lip, turning away from him and grabbing my phone from the coffee table. I need to get out of here. Anywhere but here.
"I’ll be out of your hair soon enough," I say, more to myself than to him.
I can feel his eyes on me, that gentle concern that used to make me feel safe but now just makes me feel...trapped. I don’t look back at him as I head to the bathroom, needing a moment alone to pull myself together.
i went to the bathroom
I close the bathroom door behind me, leaning against it as I let out a shaky breath.
My heart’s still pounding, adrenaline making my hands tremble slightly. It’s always like this.
being around Jungkook is like walking on a tightrope, and I’m constantly teetering on the edge. I can’t even look at him without feeling that mix of anger and something else I don’t want to name.
I turn to the mirror, avoiding my own reflection for a moment as I focus on the running water, splashing some on my face. The coolness helps, grounding me a little.
My fingers shake as I comb through my hair, trying to smooth out the mess that sleeping on the couch always leaves behind. It’s not like I’m trying to impress anyone, but I can’t stand looking as disheveled as I feel inside.
Why does he have to be so calm?
So unaffected by everything?
It’s like nothing phases him, like he doesn’t care that I’m practically bursting with everything I haven’t said.
I clench my teeth, rubbing at the dark circles under my eyes. I haven’t been sleeping well. how could I, in this situation?
I need to get out of here.
I can’t stand being in this apartment any longer, can’t handle the way it makes me feel trapped. I don’t even know where I’m going, but anywhere is better than here.
I grab my toothbrush, quickly brushing my teeth as if it’ll help me escape faster, then run a hand through my hair again, tying it up in a loose ponytail. It’s the best I can do with the time and patience I have.
The moment I step out of the bathroom, I feel the weight of the apartment pressing down on me again. Jungkook’s still in the kitchen, probably drinking his coffee without a care in the world.
I grab my bag from the couch, trying to be quiet about it, but the strap catches on the blanket, making me fumble. My breath catches as I hear him shift in the kitchen, like he’s going to say something, but I’m out the door before he gets the chance.
The cool air hits my skin as I walk into the coffee shop, offering a welcome escape from the heat outside. I’ve been coming here a lot lately. maybe too much. but it’s one of the few places where I can just...breathe.
No drama
no tension
no jeon jungkook
just the comforting smell of coffee and a quiet corner to lose myself in.
As I approach the counter, I notice a new barista. He’s got dark hair that falls over his eyes, giving him a kind of laid-back vibe that instantly catches my attention.
There’s something about him that seems...different. He’s not just going through the motions like most baristas.
He’s calm, almost serene
as if he’s moving at his own pace, completely unaffected by the rush of the city outside.
I find myself lingering a little longer than usual, trying to read the chalkboard menu even though I already know what I’m going to order. When I finally step up to the counter, he looks up at me, his eyes meeting mine with a gentle curiosity.
“Hey, what can I get you?” His voice is smooth, a little deeper, and I can’t help but notice the way his lips curve into a small, almost shy smile.
“Just a latte, please,” I reply. There’s a warmth in his gaze that I can’t quite place, something that makes me feel like he actually cares about what I’m going to order.
It’s silly, but it’s nice.
He nods, turning to start on my drink, and I watch as he moves with an effortless grace, like he’s done this a million times but still finds some sort of joy in it.
There’s a quiet confidence about him that’s both intriguing and comforting.
As he works, I find myself leaning against the counter, feeling more at relax than I have in days. “You’re new here, right? I haven’t seen you around before.”
“Yeah, just started a couple of weeks ago,” he replies without looking up, focused on the precise art of frothing the milk. “Name’s Yoongi.”
“Y/N,” I say, offering a small smile, even though he can’t see it. “I come here a lot, so...guess I’ll be seeing you around.”
He glances up at that, his eyes meeting mine again, and this time, there’s a flicker of something. more of a spark of interest that makes my heart skip a beat.
“I’ll look forward to it.”
My smile widens a little, and I duck my head, feeling a blush creep up my cheeks. There’s something about him that’s just...easy. Natural. Like we’re already friends, even though we’ve barely exchanged a few words.
He finishes my latte and slides the cup across the counter with a soft “Here you go.”
I take it, our fingers interact for the briefest moment, and I swear I feel a tiny jolt of electricity at the contact.
Maybe it’s just the caffeine deprivation, but I can’t shake the feeling that this guy—Yoongi—might be exactly what I need right now.
“Thanks,” I murmur, taking a sip. It’s perfect, just the right amount of foam, the espresso rich and smooth. I glance back at him, and he’s watching me with a quiet smile, like he’s pleased that I like it.
“See you around, Y/N,” he says as I turn to leave, his voice lingering in the air even after I’ve stepped away from the counter.
I find my usual spot by the window, sinking into the plush chair with a contented sigh.
There’s something about that new barista that makes me want to come back here, even more than I already do.
It’s not just the coffee, although that’s definitely a bonus.
It’s him.
the way he made me feel like I wasn’t just another customer, like maybe I was someone worth getting to know.
As I sip my latte, I catch myself smiling, a real, genuine smile that I haven’t felt in a while.
Maybe things aren’t so bad. Maybe, in this little coffee shop with its warm light and soft music, I’ve found something, or someone...worth sticking around for.

Viktor x Reader Personal Pigments (Part 14) - Lamp Black
This is a jayvik x reader fic now but it'll still be labeled as a Vik Fic until it's fully implemented. Ft. a teasing Jayce part 2 but it's JayVik and a lil spicy. Can't have a slowburn without fuel. Find my imagine that inspired it here. Previous and next chapter will be linked at the bottom.
I might take a couple days before posting again (probably won't be able to handle it and come back lol) but holiday season is approaching and I have plans!
stay tuned and Thank you for reading <3
╔═*✧ ✦ ✧.·:·.*.·:·.✧ ✦ ✧.·:·.*.·:·.✧-✦-✧.·:·.*.·:·.✧ ✦ ✧.·:·.*.·:·.✧ ✦ ✧*═╗
How was he supposed to do that exactly? Work in peace. He had heard your words too. But unlike Jayce, Viktor was willing to let them go. At Least til he was alone and could properly process them. Now he was supposed to be working on proving his theory right but all he could think about was how innocently you had spoken. As if there was not a double meaning to those words. “Perhaps a third one if he was being immodest.” That thought alone has him gripping the pencil harder, a sharp breath in. A slow one out. “No. Not entertaining that. Not now. Not ever.” Immodest. Immoral. A breach of decency even if it was just to himself. Or maybe it wasn’t considering Jayce’s own distracted state. Error after error on simple strings of equations. One sentence and it seemed you’d rendered the both of them idiots.
You were over there sketching away as if nothing had changed about the air in the lab. And maybe it hadn’t. Not until Jayce had repeated those words in his ear. Viktor could handle teasing. They have had their flirtations and dances between the two of them. With you though, a variable he didn’t factor for, something had changed. It had changed the way that he and Jayce interacted. It had changed the way that he wound down before bed. It had changed many small inconsequential things, and therefore, had become quite consequential.
What used to be simple one off lines between him and Jayce had become looks, glances, hands, and additional proximity. What used to be a simple routine now ended with him imaging your voice and your hands in his. He had noticed the way you listened to him, the way your hands lay limp in his. He could tell you to do something and you’d do it. It fed his ego in a way he was not used to. In a way that made him hungry. Viktor can hear the scrape of his nail down the pencil he was holding. Keratin catching on the metal of the ferrule. A clicking sound with each pass. He chooses to focus on that instead.
Not an impossible task. But an arduous one. Maybe if it had been the two of you only it would have been fine. Easy to deal with. You sat far enough away that if he turned away he wouldn’t see you. You worked many days without speaking, often enough that he sometimes forgot you were in there if he was focused enough. Today he was not. Although you were seated in a corner of the lab Jayce was right next to him. The man was a furnace. Emanating warmth. Usually a balm on his aching joints, on whatever headache threatened to force his eyes shut. Not right now. Right now it was another distraction. Or the main cause of all of them. A hand on his back, right between his shoulders, drawing lazy circles along his spine. A newer territory of closeness that they had recently started. Too many changes. Too quickly. Unavoidable, he knew that, but too much all at once.
“Need a break?” Jayce was asking. From his touching? From working? From the lab? Unsure. No clear answer. A yes to all of them. A no to all of them. And the sly grin that stretched his partner’s lips to reveal that pristine white-toothed smile was proof that Jayce knew exactly what he had done and continued to do. “Prick.”
“No.” The curt reply is met with an impossibly quiet laugh. Like he didn’t want you to hear it. To hear this new game they were playing. You knew of the other ones, yet it seemed something entirely different started today. All for one sentence. “Do you? A lot of mistakes Jayce. I would say that is unlike you but you tend to rush into things head strong.” Deflecting. A cheap shot.
“I like to keep moving. No point in wasting time doing nothing.” The hand on his back pauses its movement. For a moment. Then it is slowly moving up, to the back of his neck. Where baby hairs meet his scalp. Viktor goes rigid. A lot of new things today. A lot. Warm fingers massaging the base of his neck, fingernails lightly scratching at his hair. He knows that Jayce can feel the blood rushing to his face. That he can see it on his ears. He knows because Jayce lets out a chuckle before pulling his hand back down to his spine. A mercy and also not. Electricity buzzing in his bones. Something moving under his skin. “You can always come back to a problem on paper later.” The light circles resume.
“Hm. And what about when the problems aren't on paper?” Viktor’s voice is even except he knows that red is staining his skin. He can feel it searing on the tips of ears, on his cheeks.
“Where are they?” He jolts. Jayce had been talking quietly before because he was sitting next to him. Those words however were right into his ear. His voice is still quiet, but deeper. Reverberating with something. His eyes are on the papers in front of him. Of the now white-knuckled grip he had on his pencil. He takes a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding.
“We won’t know if we do not get back to work.” The last word is said with all the finality he can muster.
“And you said I was easy to fluster.” Viktor whips his head around, tired of the game, when he is face to face with Jayce. Almost nose to nose. Pupils dilated. Smile still there, imbued with a soft gentleness like always. A rosy tint to the apples of his cheeks. Viktor’s eyes darted to his lips, his eyes, and his lips again.
“You are.” He huffs out a breath, the wind of it moving loose strands of Jayce’s hair. “You’re also insufferable.” Viktor pulls back a bit. “We have another meeting with the council this weekend. Work to be done.” He looks at your station. You had been oblivious to all of this. At some point you had pulled out a large drawing pad. Eyes moving between your sketchbook and the paper in front of you. Your hands move between colored sticks and pens.
“Audiences are important.” Jayce sees where he’s looking. He always does.

જ Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby. . .ᐟ
˚𖦹 ‘ Chapter 16 : Holidays hit different this year. ִ ࣪𖤐
— PREV | MASTERLIST | NEXT
Hooray!! Christmas eve with your friends!! This is what you’ve been waiting for, a well deserved break and hanging out in a complete circle. The night was perfect—ordered and homemade food, a bunch of games the five of you created, and just having fun at Lumine's dorm.
“This is so much fun than my class party,” you started, leaning against Lumine on her bed while the other three sat on the floor.
“Don’t say that,” Xiao replies, “I’m sure you had lots of fun with Scaramouche.” He was just teasing and you all knew it, yet his stoic face made it seem like he was telling the truth.
Was he telling the truth? You don’t wanna answer, but everyone else was laughing like they all agreed.
“I hope you all get coal.” You glared at all of them.
“Yes, like you weren’t bringing a bunch of presents all the way here.” Lumine giggled.
You rolled your eyes, “What if they’re big coals?”
“As big as–”
“Don’t even.” Xiao interrupted Hu Tao, to which she playfully nudged him for.
“Alright, why don’t we just move on to some karaoke?” Aether chimed in to stop the playful banter. It worked, as Hu Tao’s sparkling eyes darted to him.
The group starts to sing in turn. While it was Lumine’s turn, your phone lit up and a notification popped up.
You didn’t know what to feel about that. Considering the fact that you actually haven’t responded to any of his messages, it almost seemed rude to reply to this one just because it’s a holiday greeting.
But then again, he’s your ex so it’s understandable, right?
The message didn’t leave your mind even if you didn’t reply. You kept quiet and just turned off your phone. Unfortunately for you, Lumine was quick to catch your weird behavior.
“Hey, you okay?” Her question echoed through the microphone, making everyone else turn their heads to you. Deciding it’d be useless to hide from them, you told them the truth.
“Nothing too important, but Scaramouche just chatted me..” You answered, the group humming an “ooohh” as a response.
“Well? What are you waiting for?” Hu Tao grinned.
“Just reply, we all know you want to.” Xiao added.
“Shut up.” You scoffed, “I’m not letting him ruin my–”
Your phone buzzed again.
“The man’s clearly desperate to double text, just reply already.” Lumine sighs.
The peer pressure was insane, but a simple greeting won’t mean anything, right?

Bladeweaver Demo Update (14/04/24)
Update time!
Demo link
Chapter 2's penultimate section, visiting Sam's home, now has a conclusion! Spend the night talking and playing with Sam or go home right away, get some insight into Sam's father and his past, as well as more context on Callen and Sonia's mysterious Debts...
This update, coming in at juuuust over 25k words, had me sweating a little trying to get it out in time haha. Because of that, there may be bugs and typos that I have missed, so I'd appreciate if they were pointed out.
It's still not entirely complete; there is a route where you show Sam the gift you got (if you brought it with you) that I just couldn't fit in time, so I'll put that in my next update.
I hope you enjoy reading the rest of this part of Chapter 2, and stay tuned in a couple of months for the end of the chapter!
An update to the Android (apk) version will come later, probably tomorrow.

It felt like it had been a long time since _____ and Cale saw each other. In reality, it was merely a few days. It probably just felt like an eternity because they were both busy.
Sure, let’s go with that…
The two exchanged short pleasantries before the conversation switched to how one of the Gyerre Duchy’s vassals was committing human trafficking.
At first, the healer silently listened to the assassin and the young master talked. But then a familiar name was mentioned.
The Chryshi
_____ who has naturally and unknowingly switched their positions from in front of Ron to Cale's side perked up at the mention of a merchant guild and the Chryshi household.
A puppy-like young master and a bunny-like healer young master that naturally gravitated towards each other every chance they got…
No one knew how much this fact entertained a certain benign old man.
The so-called bunny-like healer started tugging Cale's sleeves as an indication they had something to say, too uncomfortable to speak first because there were a lot of people.
"Hmm? What is it _____, do you know something?"
Ignoring how Cale's voice softened a bit when addressing the healer, they all tuned in as to what the healer had to say.
"Back when I was with my adoptive family, I heard them bring up the Chryshi and some merchant guild in the same sentence. Whenever the conversation was about that they would also bring up about how it brings in so much income.”
_____ could see the intrigued reaction forming on Ron’s face.
“Also, there were nights when I would hear them have secret meanings with that Baron household... I wasn't allowed to take part in important conversations when I was back there so I can only tell you about things I overheard."
Cale once again feels like a headache coming.
However, it checks out if the Perduellios are part of this human trafficking scheme. How else would they get information about an ‘orphanage’ that sells blessed and gifted children?
It just makes sense.
And everyone could see that Cale hates that it makes sense.
Because if the Perduellios are part of this scheme then it would mean the orphanage _____ came from is a slave house with an orphanage front.
As if _____ hasn’t had enough in Cale’s opinion.
They already suffered from those bastards called Perduellios. If the place they came from was a slave house… how much more abuse did they experience?
“Ron, Freesia, include the Perduellios in your investigation.”
“As you wish young master-nim”
Everyone finalized the plan before moving on to another topic.
“Are you sure you’ll be fine staying alone at an inn? I can send one of them with you.”
What’s this? A certain redhead young master is acting out of character?
“I’ll be fine. I know the Gyerre territory like the back of my hand. I have done so many projects here since the Perduellios are aligned with them.”
Just as Cale mentioned, the plan is for _____ to stay in an inn. They would dye their hair and eyes as disguises too. This was because the chances of them being discovered here were higher. Not only does everyone know them, but Perduellio’s people also frequent this place.
So they had an idea to make _____ stay at an inn and pretend to be a traveller. It’s a great plan, only if Cale and Raon weren’t so hesitant.
Despite those hesitations, everything proceeded as planned.
The next day _____ went to a teahouse they used to frequent before. It was a few blocks from where Cale was drinking and should have windows so they could look at the houses from across the bridge.
Walking inside the establishment made the healer feel nostalgic. Going inside this teahouse was the only time they could semi-relax before. They were only allowed in there so rumours of the Perduellios not letting _____ have any downtime do not spread. Still, they were grateful for all those times.
_____ went to sit at an empty table with a window view. They would sit where they used to but for some reason, that table was filled with all sorts of flowers and gifts.
“Are you a traveller?”
A childish voice asked the healer. When _____ turned around to see who was talking, they saw the child of the owner of the teahouse.
“Yes I am, how did you know?”
Thankfully _____ had asked Raon to change their voice last minute.
“It’s because I saw you looking at that special table! Everyone here knows why that table is so special! You look like you don't know, so you must not be from here!”
Seems like _____ hasn’t been around here for a long time.
“That table belongs to Roan’s Medicus! Well, not belong but when uhm, when they were still around they would go here and sit over there and admire the view so my parents decided to decicate that table to them… I’ve always wanted to play with them… they were so pretty that I felt shy… I wish I had asked though…”
Guilt stabbed _____’s heart at the child’s words. They have seen this child look at them back then. However, they just thought the child was curious.
“But I'm not sad! Mom said that they are resting peacefully now! She told me that maybe they had to go because the Sun God missed them already! I'm sad that Sun God didn't ask me first if I won't miss Medicus-nim, but I understand their feelings because I'm a big girl now!”
Despite saying she's not sad, the child's eyes look teary as she talks about the healer.
“Oh, I was talking about the table! After hearing what Mom and Dad did, everyone started bringing gifts and flowers! Everyone said that it's so that if ever Medicus-nim’s spirit visits here they'd know just how much we love them! See that flower over there? I picked it myself to give it to them!”
_____ had no idea that people admired them to the point of doing something like this. It made their heart swell. Maybe they have done more than they thought they did.
“Really you did? I'm sure Medicus-nim will be happy when they see it…”
A woman came out from the kitchen, making the healer unable to finish their sentence. _____ knew this woman well, it's the shop's owner.
“Oh my! Mirari what did I tell you about bothering our customers!”
“Oh no, don’t worry it’s fine miss. We had a good conversation.”
The woman who seemed to be in her mid-thirties looked at _____ apologetically.
“I’m glad if that’s the case, but I’m still very sorry. She has suddenly started acting like this after hearing the news about the Medicus.”
Oh…
_____ doesn’t quite know how to feel about that.
So instead they just reassured Mirari’s mother that no harm was done. Nonetheless, the owner was insistent that they’d been disturbed and said that they could have something on the house.
“Traveller-nim choose tiramisu! It’s really good! Medicus-nim always ordered it!”
_____ doesn’t know if they can take any more of this.
They don’t know what they’ve done to make someone this fond of them.
“If Mirari-nim insists then I’ll get a tiramisu cake.”
The healer smiled as they waved goodbye to the child that’s being escorted back to the kitchen. As they did they wonder how such a small child could leave such big lingering feelings.
Nothing else happened after that encounter. _____ just sipped their tea and ate sweets as they watched the windows.
Then it finally happened.
Cale had gone outside acting all trashy.
As they did _____ couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle. It’s funny to see the young master acting drunk when he's clearly not. Plus that red flush on his face looks cute.
…wait what?
Uhm anyways…
Soon _____ saw the signal for them to make a move. The signal that they talked about yesterday was Cale’s shield. As soon as the redhead summoned the famous silver shield, the healer went out to be on standby.
Everything became chaotic. _____ could see the citizens not knowing what to do as the famous young master Silver Shield caused havoc.
_____ used that chaos to their advantage and went underneath the houses Cale had been eyeing since this morning.
Once they got to where the victims were _____ started healing all the severely injured people. As much as it pains the healer to pick and choose who to heal they still do. This was because the Gyerres had to see for themselves just how much these people had suffered.
So as much as they want to heal everyone, _____ only attended to those close to dying.
“Kind _____ the people our human is waiting for are here!”
Raon’s voice echoed in _____’s mind midway through finishing all the houses. That was their sign to get out before Antonio Gyerre or his knights saw the healer.
That night two cute kittens infiltrated _____’s room.
“Cale said you might use all the potions he gave to you on other people nya!”
“We are here to heal the healer nya!”
On and Hong greeted the injured healer on the bed as they welcomed themselves in through the window. _____ could only send a small smile in return, too hurt to form a response.
“Our youngest and Cale wanted to come here themselves but they still have something to do nya.”
Hong stated as he switched to his human form to properly use the healing potion he and On had brought. Meanwhile, his older sister is inspecting the healer’s body. She’s assessing every wound she can find, no doubt to tattle to Cale later.
With the help of the two siblings, _____ started feeling better in no time. They would try to do it midway themself but the healer has learned not to disturb the two kittens when they set their mind to do something.
After they were done they shifted back into their kitten forms to curl up and cuddle with _____.
Safe to say _____ slept soundly that night.
A few days later _____can finally regroup with Cale. They agreed to meet up outside the Gyerre territory, just before they had to meet up with Mary and Tasha.
_____ entered the carriage and greeted Billos. They were about to sit beside him when they felt Cale tug on their clothes. It confused the healer because why is Cale stopping them from sitting beside the merchant when they usually sit across the redhead? So _____ looked at the young master only to see him patting the space beside him.
“I assume you’ve been well?”
“Yes, thanks to you and the kids. I’m glad that you seem to be in good spirits too.”
Cale quickly assessed the healer's body to confirm if they were feeling better. After seeing that they were, the redhead grabbed a pillow from somewhere and placed it on the healer's lap. He then laid down on that pillow and started sleeping as if Billos wasn’t even there.
In turn, Billos just acted as if the young master wasn’t doing anything out of the ordinary.
Time passed and they soon arrived at the entrance of Vegas CIty where the merchant got off. As soon as he did Cale got up from _____’s lap to talk to them.
“Ron and Freesia had investigated the Perduellio Family. It turns out that the assumptions were correct. The Perduellios have been working with the Chryshis and have been smuggling people.”
Oh…
Was it too late to put their hood back on now?
Because _____ feels like they’re about to cry…
Oh no
_____ can feel the waterworks start. They tried to suppress it, but the news was just too much to bear. Especially after the conversation they had with that child named Mirari.
Tears fell as _____ absorbed the news Cale told them.
In the back of their mind, someone was telling them that they seemed to be crying a lot these days but they currently can't care.
"I didn't... I genuinely didn't know anything..."
The sorrow _____ felt at the involvement of their family felt foreign to them. Their heart feels as though it was being crushed by how heavy it was while their head feels light. They also started questioning their role and achievements. Although they didn't take a direct part in that terrible sin, they feel as though they still have a great responsibility as they were part of that family.
"I know they weren't the greatest... But I never thought they would stoop so low. What they did to me was fine but this…”
They may have not taken part in the act, but they unknowingly helped fund it.
And that made _____ feel so so guilty.
“While I was healing people, feeling like I was righteous, they were doing such a sin behind my back. Using the money I have accumulated from the sick for such a task.."
Cale can't take this anymore. He can't take _____’s tears anymore. But he doesn't know how to handle a crying person.
So he did the first thing that popped into his mind.
Cale offered his shoulder.
Well, he first wiped _____’s tears before semi-hugging them to place them on his shoulder.
The point still stands, Cale is doing something unusual.
Raon, Hong, and On watched this predicament with their jaws practically on the ground. They had seen the redhead act in all kinds of ways to get what he wanted. But never like this.
Plus, he wasn't acting. That makes it more shocking to the children.
And maybe _____ would be the same if they weren’t engrossed in their feelings.
But they are, so they just accepted the comfort the redhead silently offered and cried to their heart's content.
Later on, when Ron checked the carriage, he could see the bunny healer's head on his puppy master's lap. Both of them slept while the children were quietly chatting amongst themselves.
a/n: just a small fun fact, I wasn't gonna assign a name at first because I was too lazy but then I learned that Perduellio was the capital offense of high treason back in Ancient Rome

“Fuck it.” You finally caved in and kissed Joel passionately.
He kissed you back and pushed you to lean on the fridge. The fridge shook because of your weight and you gasped. But he ignored it so you put your arms around his neck and continued kissing him.
But it felt like it was only for a second then you heard Sarah cry from her bedroom. Joel and you rushed to her to check on her.
“What’s wrong, babygirl?” Joel panted as he stopped at the doorway.
“Hey, hey. I’m here, sweetheart. I’m here.” You lifted Sarah from the crib and smelled her butt.
“Not smelling anything.” You were confused.
You had fed her. She didn’t peed or poop. So what was the reason she was crying?
You felt something was off. Her cheeks were flushed. It was redder than usual. Then you put the back of your palm to her head and it felt warmer.
“Joel, get the thermometer please. Hurry.” You were panting as you panicked.
Joel rushed to find the thermometer and handed it to you. You immediately checked her temperature using the thermometer.
“Joel..” You showed the thermometer to Joel.
“38°C?” Joel put his hand on his forehead.
“We need to go to the hospital, right now.” You rushed to get your jacket.
Joel got his keys and ran to the car. He drove as fast as he could to get to hospital and go to the emergency room. Sarah had a fever. On her birthday.
“Help! Please! My daughter. I think she has a fever.” Joel begged the nurse.
“Please, she just turned one today.” You begged as you held Sarah in your arms.
“Okay, please come here.” The nurse guided you to a bed and called the doctor.
The doctor examined her and treated her. She was now sleeping on the hospital bed. You sat beside her as you caressed her head while Joel was doing the procedures and paid the bills.
“We can go home now.” Joel came beside you and rested his hand on your shoulder.
“Okay.”
At home
“Hey, babygirl. It’s still your birthday today. I forgot to tell you, your mama told me to tell you that she said happy birthday.” You kissed her cheek.
“Ma-ma.” Sarah babbled.
Joel and you froze and stared at each other. Jaws dropped.
“Did she just-” Your eyes widened.
“Yeah, I think she just did.” Joel nodded.
“Say it one more time babygirl.” You bounced her a bit on your lap.
“Ma-ma.” Sarah repeated.
You cried. You were not her mom but you felt happiness when the baby in your arms called you her mama.
“Oh..babygirl.” Joel caressed Sarah’s head. He took her from your arms as you wiped your tears.
“Try saying dada.” Joel cooed at his daughter.
“Ma-ma.” Sarah kept saying the word mama.
“No, no. Dada. I’m your daddy.” He snuggled his face to Sarah’s belly.
“Come on, sweetie. Try dada. Da-da.” You taught her how to say it.
“Da-da.” Sarah finally said the word.
“Oh my God!” You covered your mouth as you gasped.
“She just called me dada. Dada loves you, babygirl.” Joel kissed his daughter’s forehead.
You looked at Joel and Sarah and your eyes were getting teary. You were happy seeing Joel happy beside what had happened that morning. You leaned in and caressed Sarah’s head.
“Can I stay with her tonight?” You asked.
“Yeah, sure. But I-uh-I don’t have a spare bed. You can take my bed and sleep with her in my bedroom. I’ll take the couch.”
“You sure?” You felt bad letting Joel sleep on the couch but there was no other way.
“I’m sure, darlin’.” Joel nodded.
“Okay, time to bed, birthday girl. Come on.” Joel passed Sarah to your arms and you brought her to bed.
Joel guided the way and opened the door for you.
“You can change into this.” Joel put his white t-shirt and sweatpants on the edge of the bed.
“Thank you.” You were too tired from the busy day so you didn’t bother to stop by your house to get changed.
“I-uh-I’ll be downstairs if you need anythin’. Good night, (y/n).”
“Good night, Joel.” You closed the door as you walked him out.
You changed to his t-shirt. It was so big and you decided not to wear his sweatpants because his t-shirt was long enough to cover you. You raised the collar to your nose smelling his shirt. You smiled as you found that comforting smell again.
“We’re having a sleepover tonight, sweetie.” You patted baby Sarah’s tummy gently as you laid beside her.
Hours passed and you found yourself awake. You were lost in your thoughts thinking how Joel should be with his daughter tonight. Especially since it was her birthday and she was sick. You sat on the bed and decided to check on Joel downstairs.
“Joel, you awake?” You called him as you walked down the stairs.
“Joel?” You called him again as you walked closer.
“AHH!” Joel screamed in a high pitched tone.
“What?!What?!” You panicked.
“Fuck, I thought you were a ghost.” Joel covered his face in embarrassment.
“What the fuck, Joel? You thought I was a ghost?” You laughed.
“How can I not think you were a ghost when you’re lookin’ like that?” Joel moved his hand up and down pointing at you.
You looked at yourself and realized. You were wearing his white t-shirt oversized hugging almost half of your body. And your long hair was let down.
“Sorry.” You chuckled.
“What is it? You need anythin’?” Joel asked.
“I was wondering if you wanted to join us upstairs?” You pointed to your back.
“Upstairs?” Joel raised his eyebrows.
“Yeah, I think Sarah needs her dad with her now.”
“Yeah, sure.” Joel followed you upstairs.
“Ahh!!” You suddenly mimicked Joel’s scream earlier as you climbed the stairs in front of him.
“You do realize you just screamed like a girl, right?” You stopped and turned your head to him, teasing him.
“Don’t make fun of me.” He threatened you.
“Ahh!” You mimicked him again and laughed.
“Stop it.” He sighed as he covered his face.
“Fine. Fine. I’ll stop.” You chuckled and walked your way back to the bedroom.
“Where do you usually sleep?” You asked Joel which side of the bed was his.
“Here.” He pointed to the left side.
“Okay.” You climbed to the right side and laid down.
Your heart beat faster. Tonight was your first night sleeping with Joel in the same room and same bed with only a baby separating you both. You slept on your side facing him and patted Sarah’s tummy.
Joel could feel his body stiff. He laid on his back with his hands folded on his stomach facing the ceilings. His heart felt like it would burst in any second. He cleared his throat as he moved to sleep on his side facing you. Both of you were now facing each other.
“Ugh-Hi.” Joel awkwardly said hi. He felt stupid for saying that.
“Hi?” You hi-ed him back with a questioning tone.
“Do you-uhm-do you think she’s sick because of what happened earlier in the morning?” Joel felt guilty after the fight with Sarah’s mom on his daughter’s birthday.
“It’s not your fault, Joel. Babies get sick. It’s normal. Don’t blame yourself.” You consoled him.
“I’m glad she’s okay. Thank you for today.” He put his hand on top of your hand that was patting Sarah’s tummy.
“Anytime.” You smiled.
He giggled and you giggled. You two felt the awkwardness sleeping in the same room but each of you felt butterflies on your stomach. The two of you started to forget about the bad things that had happened today. Joel and you even forgot to talk about “that one second kiss” that happened earlier in the day.
To be continued…

Enough to Go by (Chapter 14) - a Shigaraki x f!Reader fic
Your best friend vanished on the same night his family was murdered, and even though the world forgot about him, you never did. When a chance encounter brings you back into contact with Shimura Tenko, you'll do anything to make sure you don't lose him again. Keep his secrets? Sure. Aid the League of Villains? Of course. Sacrifice everything? You would - but as the battle between the League of Villains and hero society unfolds, it becomes clear that everything is far more than you or anyone else imagined it would be. Chapter 14
When you agreed to be Tenko’s sidekick, playing for keeps this time, you made a promise to yourself that you wouldn’t involve anyone else. You broke that promise almost immediately, but Kazuo made you break it, so you decided it doesn’t count. Your friends who were killed in the Kamino incident weren’t dragged into it by you specifically, but you’re still part of the reason they died, so you have to count them, too. Mitsuru’s stayed out of it by having a girlfriend and being too busy to notice whatever the hell you’re up to, and Yoshimi’s got enough to worry about with her illness. You never wanted your friends to get caught up in this. You thought you’d hidden it well enough to keep Mitsuko and Ryuhei safe, too.
Except now Ryuhei and Mitsuko have met Tenko, and they’ve become the League’s first ever sleeper agents. Every time the two of them show up at your apartment, for any reason, League-related or otherwise, you can’t help feeling like you’ve failed them. You feel like you’ve failed Tenko, too.
Tenko’s not here today. He’s been spending at least some time at the new hideout Overhaul provided in order to keep up appearances, and with Kurogiri on another mission, it’s harder to move people back and forth safely. Toga and Twice are embedded with the yakuza full-time, which means you haven’t heard from them other than a request from Toga to go thrifting and find her a new coat. It’s cold in the Hassaikai base. Compress is usually at the new hideout, too – now that he’s got his prosthetic, your services are no longer needed. The people who spend the most time at your apartment now are Dabi and Spinner. And your friends from before.
Dabi and Spinner aren’t here today, but your friends are supposed to be here at any moment, and as soon as the thought crosses your mind, you hear the secret knock on the door – followed by an order to “let us in, you criminal”, which sort of defeats the purpose of a secret knock. You unlock the door and open it. They both push past you eagerly, only to pause, disappointed, when they realize your apartment is empty. “Come on,” Ryuhei complains. “I wanted to meet the rest of them.”
“Not even your weird boyfriend’s here? Lame,” Mitsuko agrees. “I wanted to give him this.”
She’s holding your high school yearbook. “Why?”
“So he can see all the bad haircuts he missed out on. This –” Mitsuko gestures at you “ – is the result of five years of my influence on your fashion sense. He owes me.”
“Yeah. I’ll be sure to let him know.” You’ll show Tenko the yearbook when hell freezes over. You shut the door. “Do you guys have questions about any of the stuff we talked about last time?”
“No. I don’t care that I’m not fighting,” Mitsuko says. “My quirk sucks for it.”
“Not if you fine-tuned it enough. If you could sense people’s intentions towards you really closely, you’d be able to tell their moves ahead of time,” Ryuhei says. “My quirk could be good for fighting, though. Is he sure he doesn’t want me fighting?”
“Yes,” you say. Tenko was impressed by Ryuhei’s quirk, but if Ryuhei gets captured, he’ll be a potential link to you, and Tenko’s still trying to keep you out of any suspicion. “For right now, anyway.”
“Fine,” Ryuhei says. He sits down on your couch with a thud, and Mitsuko grabs the armchair. You take the other end of the couch. “We got some stuff going. Inada’s been looking into the Hassaikai a little more –”
“We’ll get to that,” Mitsuko says. “Tell her our real idea.”
“Supply caches,” Ryuhei says. You blink. “Storage units aren’t that expensive. We could rent a bunch of different ones all around the country and fill them with stuff you guys need – like medical shit, food, supplies –”
“New information, if we’ve got any,” Mitsuko adds. “Phones aren’t safe. If they’re tracking where your signal is coming from, they’ll find it bouncing all over the place, and that’ll be suspicious from somebody who’s supposed to be in Yokohama.”
“Why wouldn’t I be in Yokohama?” you ask. Then it clicks. “Wait, you think I’m going to be with them?”
“Uh, yes.” Mitsuko and Ryuhei trade a glance. “At some point you have to, right? If you’re their medic, they need you to be with them wherever they are.”
“Kurogiri just comes to get me.”
“What if they need you and he’s not with them?” Ryuhei is giving you a weird look. “What happened with the one guy’s arm – it could have been bad if you weren’t there, right?”
It would have been. Nobody else in the League carries medical supplies, and without you to smooth the way at your clinic, Compress could have easily been reported to the police and arrested. “And it would make more sense for you to be with them,” Mitsuko continues. “Your boyfriend’s a lot more hinged when you’re around. If that’s what hinged looks like for him, I don’t even want to think about what he’s like on his own.”
Tenko’s more grounded when you’re around, or so you’ve heard from Spinner. He and Dabi don’t argue as much, and he’s apparently a lot less apathetic about things. But you’re still taken aback by what your friends are saying. The role they’re envisioning for themselves when it comes to helping the League is the role you’re playing right now, because they don’t expect you to play it for much longer. You hadn’t even thought of that. Are they right?
You’re not going to think about that right now. “I think supply caches are a great idea,” you say. “How many were you thinking?”
“That depends. How much money are we working with?”
Money’s not the only thing it depends on. It also depends on where the League is likely to be, and how easily they’ll be able to travel, and whether they’re more likely to be spotted in big cities with tons of surveillance or small towns where everyone knows everyone, and a whole lot of other questions. Mitsuko points out another benefit of you traveling with the League full-time; the cops still don’t know your face, which means you can move around freely even when the rest of the League can’t. The longer the three of you talk about it, the more it makes sense. You’re starting to wonder why Tenko hasn’t brought you with the League full-time already.
You’re in the middle of looking up storage units when the doorbell rings. The sound scares the hell out of you, like most unexpected sounds do these days, and you rocket to your feet. “Where are you going?” Ryuhei asks. “It’s probably just a delivery. Did you order something?”
You shake your head. “The others might have. They’ve done stuff like that before.”
Ryuhei accepts the explanation, but Mitsuko doesn’t. She follows you to the door. “I’m getting a weird feeling.”
“Like a feeling that the delivery guy is going to kill me?” you ask. Mitsuko shakes her head. “Then it’s fine. It’s easier if I just grab it now.”
You unlock the door and find yourself looking at a man holding a manila envelope. You can see your name written on it, along with your address, in neat but spidery handwriting. You hold out your hand for it. “Do I need to sign for this or something?”
“Nope. Just confirm your name and address.” The delivery guy holds the envelope just out of reach until you confirm both pieces of information. “Perfect. Here –”
He places the envelope in your hand, but once you’ve got it, his other hand comes up, and both enfold yours. The delivery guy is holding your hand, and in the split second before your mind registers just how weird this is, you find yourself feeling sick. Really sick. Dizzy. Nauseous. Another split second later, just as you’re thinking you should pull away, pain knifes through your skull. It’s not just weird. It’s a quirk.
A status effect quirk? You try to pull your hand away, but your arms feel like lead. Your voice comes out strange and slurred. “What –”
“Overhaul requires your presence,” the man says, and your stomach twists. “Come with me.”
“Fuck you.” A pair of arms wrap around your waist and yank you backwards into your apartment. Mitsuko pulls you away from the door and keeps pulling, even when your legs give out and she has to drag you. “Sasegawa, get your shit together!”
The man steps across the threshold into your apartment, dropping the envelope on the floor. “Thought you’d be alone in here. This is going to get messy.”
He reaches for you, but before he can make contact, Ryuhei hops the couch and gets between the two of you. The would-be kidnapper’s hand collides with Ryuhei’s face instead, and Ryuhei’s quirk activates. You’ve seen Ryuhei’s quirk at work before, but it always amazes you just how fast the rebound happens. The kidnapper’s got next to no resistance to his own quirk. Most people don’t. He throws up all over himself and the floor. He’s throwing up blood.
“Okay, what the fuck?” Ryuhei snaps. “What kind of quirk was that? Who is this guy?”
“Hassaikai,” you and Mitsuko both say at once. Mitsuko keeps talking. You’re too busy trying not to retch. “See how his eyes glow green? His quirk’s called Irradiate. It can paralyze people if he wants it to. Or it can kill.”
“So how the fuck did you miss it? You’re supposed to read intentions!”
“His intention was to kidnap her, not to hurt her or kill her! Hurting her is just a byproduct! My quirk doesn’t do what you think it does!” Mitsuko sounds as pissed as you’ve ever heard her. She shakes you. “If you’d just listened to me –”
“We have to do something about him.” You cut her off and gesture at the delivery guy, who’s now having a seizure just inside your doorway. “Emergency services. I have to call them.”
“You want to get him medical help? He just tried to kidnap you!”
“I need him to leave. And I don’t need the cops here.” You know the Hassaikai are under investigation. You’ve already come into contact with them once that the heroes know about. If you’re documented making contact with them again – “This guy is just a delivery guy. We don’t know what happened. When I opened the door and took the package, he started convulsing. That’s it.”
“And what about you? You look like hell,” Ryuhei shoots back. “You’re a nurse. Isn’t helping with shit like this your job?”
Shit. It is your job. If the cops come here, they’re going to ask why you’re not tending to the guy who tried to kidnap you. “One of you needs to call,” you say. You pull away from Mitsuko, fighting the urge to throw up, and head to the delivery guy, tilting him onto his side so he won’t aspirate if he starts vomiting again. “Now.”
While Mitsuko places the call, you try to remember what you know about radiation sickness. Not a lot. You seem to remember that the symptoms correspond to the dose, and that instant vomiting isn’t a good sign. Vomiting blood is never a good sign. But you got nauseous right away, even though you didn’t throw up. If this guy actually irradiated you, you’re in trouble, too. Did Mitsuko say his quirk was radiation, or just that it mimics the effects? You need to ask her, but she’s still on the phone, acting really panicked and hysterical to ensure that the EMTs get here fast. You’ll ask once she hangs up. In the meantime, you’ve got one hell of a headache and a guy having a seizure on your floor. You’re busy.
The EMTs don’t question your story when they arrive. They get the gang member off your floor and onto a stretcher, give you a bodily fluids cleanup kit to deal with the vomit, and book it. Ryuhei’s too squeamish to help you clean, but Mitsuko isn’t. The two of you work on taking the stain out of the carpet while Ryuhei opens the envelope the Hassaikai member brought with him. “I should be the one to open it,” he says when you protest. “If there’s a quirk in here it’ll bounce off of me.”
“Why would there be a quirk in an envelope?”
“Why would the Hassaikai send a delivery guy to kidnap you? These people are insane.” Ryuhei rips open the envelope. “No quirk. Just a letter. It’s – well, fuck. This is bad.”
“Don’t just say ‘this is bad’. Read it,” you say. It’s quiet for a few seconds. “Well?”
“It’s not addressed to you. It’s for Shigaraki,” Ryuhei says. Your stomach lurches. “I guess the guy was supposed to leave it here for Shigaraki to find after he kidnapped you. Overhaul’s saying he doesn’t trust Shigaraki to behave himself just for Toga’s and Twice’s sake – wait, are they hostages? – so he’s going to hang onto you, too. And – fuck, this guy is a freak.”
“Wait, let me see.” Mitsuko strips off her gloves and goes to investigate. You come over, too, but she shoos you back. A moment later, she swears. “We can’t let him see this.”
“See what?” You’re not done with the bodily fluids cleanup, but you peel off your gloves and step around Mitsuko. “He was going to kidnap me. I should get to –”
“You don’t want to,” Mitsuko snaps at you. You’ve never heard her take that tone before, and you’ve heard her get really harsh. Then, to Ryuhei: “We can’t let him see this. If he sees this – look, I’ve been around the yakuza before. I’ve seen some shit. This is fucked up even for them.”
“What is it?” you say, exasperated. You’ve met Overhaul. He creeped you out plenty in person. You doubt a letter could do the same thing.
“I think we should show him,” Ryuhei mumbles. “Let him see what he’s up against.”
Your phone starts buzzing in your pocket, and you pull it out to find a text from Tenko. We got him. We’re on our way over.
They got who? And why are they coming here? How are they coming here without Kurogiri? Are they really traveling through Yokohama on foot? They’re going to get caught. You can’t think straight. Your head hurts. “Mitsu, is that guy’s quirk actual radiation or just the symptoms?”
“Actual radiation.”
You might be screwed. The thought that your would-be kidnapper is even more screwed than you are isn’t much of a source of comfort. You put on a fresh set of gloves and go back to cleaning up the mess of guess-it’s-radioactive bloody vomit on the floor.
Tenko and the others don’t arrive until half an hour after you’re done cleaning, when you’ve switched clothes and showered off and you’re sprawled on the couch, reading the Wikipedia page on acute radiation sickness and trying to decide whether the continued urge to vomit is the result of anxiety or whatever dose of radiation you caught from the kidnapper. You hear the secret knock, but Ryuhei’s at the door before you can even get up from the couch. The door opens, and a moment later you hear Compress’s voice. “Who are you?”
“New ally. Who are you?”
“We don’t have time for this,” Tomura says impatiently. “Let us in.”
Ryuhei lets him in, and the rest of the League piles into the apartment after him. The entire rest of the League – Twice and Toga are back, looking extremely pleased with themselves, and everybody else looks like they’ve had a great day, too. “Overhaul’s fucked,” Tomura announces. “Turn on the TV. I bet they’re covering it.”
You switch on the TV, and everyone comes to settle around it. Twice plops down on the couch next to you, only to scramble up a moment later when Tomura comes over. Tomura’s not shy about being affectionate with you in front of the League. He pulls you against his side, not quite into his lap, and you lean against him, squeezing your eyes shut. You didn’t want to tell him about the attempted kidnapping, and now you don’t have to. It’s a relief.
It turns out that the League’s revenge against Overhaul is just the final piece of Overhaul’s worst day ever. The heroes moved against him at last, destroying his headquarters and capturing his lieutenants, effectively destroying the Shie Hassaikai for good – and on top of that, Tomura, Dabi, Spinner, and Compress attacked the convoy that was transporting Overhaul to a villain-specific hospital. A hero’s dead. Two cops are badly injured. And Overhaul himself is now short both his arms, and his quirk.
“I was thinking,” Tomura says, “somebody who hates quirks shouldn’t have one of his own. We got revenge for Compress –”
“I took his arm myself,” Compress says proudly. Twice high-fives him. “And in revenge for Magne, we took everything else that mattered to him.”
“Those quirk-destroying bullets he had? Those are ours now,” Dabi says. “Smug bastard. He had it coming.”
“You have no idea,” Mitsuko mumbles. Dabi gives her a weird look.
“We messed with them during the heroes’ raid,” Toga sings out, grinning her sharp-toothed grin. “And I got to see Izuku! He’s so cute when he’s covered in blood. Ochako and Tsu were there, too! I wish I’d gotten to talk to them more – they’re so pretty –”
At least Toga likes the idea of having age-appropriate friends. She’s got a few screws loose already, but only hanging around with you and a bunch of older guys probably isn’t helping. On the TV, there’s another alert – something about a girl the heroes were trying to rescue from Overhaul, who’s since gone missing. “And on that note, Saintess,” Compress says over Twice’s crowing about just how badly they pissed off one of Overhaul’s lieutenants, “we have a present for you.”
He extracts one of his spheres from his pocket and uncompresses it on your coffee table to reveal a messily severed arm. Mitsuko yelps and recoils. “Wrong one,” Compress says hastily, and compresses it again. “This is for you.”
You have a bad feeling about it, and once he uncompresses the second sphere, you’re proven right. In place of the arm, there’s a tiny girl sprawled out on the table. She’s wearing a hospital gown, her arms and legs heavily bandaged. She has greyish-white hair, just like the girl in the picture on TV, and just like the girl in the picture, there’s a horn on the right side of her forehead. She’s also asleep, or maybe unconscious. There’s a hectic, fevered flush in her cheeks, and her breathing is rattling and uneven in a way that raises a whole host of red flags.
“This is Eri,” Twice says as you stare in horror. “Isn’t she cute?”
“She was the key to Overhaul’s plans,” Tomura says. “Her quirk’s Rewind. It activates when she touches someone, and it turns back the clock on their body, or parts of their body. Overhaul was using it in the deleter rounds to turn back quirk factors until they no longer exist.”
“He was being so gross with her,” Toga says. Her mirth from before is gone. “He kept cutting her and using his quirk to put her back together again. We could hear her crying if we went down to that level.”
“The heroes were trying to rescue her, but we nabbed her when their backs were turned,” Twice adds. “And we brought her back here! She should be with us, don’t you think?”
You can barely think. “Can she control it?” Mitsuko asks. “Like, is it active right now?”
“Maybe. Why?”
Mitsuko doesn’t answer. She grabs your hand away from your side, yanks it towards the coffee table, and slaps it down on top of the little girl’s hand. Your entire body jolts, and you struggle to pull free, but Mitsuko leaves your hand there for a second, two seconds, three. When Tomura grabs you and pulls you back, she lets you go. “What the hell was that?” Tomura demands.
Mitsuko doesn’t answer him. “I can Google shit just as well as you can,” she says to you. “Feel better?”
You do. Your headache’s completely gone, along with the nausea, and it’s easier to think – and now you get why she did it. The exposure to the little girl’s quirk Rewound you, past the point where you were exposed to the radiation quirk. You’re not irradiated any longer, which means that by bringing Eri back here, Compress and the others have saved you a lot of trouble. But they’ve also caused a problem. A really big problem. “We can’t keep her.”
The League stares at you. “Why not?” Spinner asks.
You’d expect that question from Tomura or Dabi. Not from Spinner, who lived at least adjacent to the real world until four months ago. “She’s a little kid,” you say. “Kids need stability. They need a roof over their heads and to know they’ll have food and a safe place to sleep every night. And if one of you is about to say that you didn’t have that and you turned out fine – no, you didn’t.”
Dabi snorts. “But she’s so cute,” Toga complains. “Look at her little cheeks. I just want to bite them!”
“No biting the kid. If you’re going to bite the kid we’re definitely not keeping her,” Tomura says. You can’t believe he’s still thinking it’s a good idea to keep her, and when he turns to look at you, you can see that nothing you’ve said has sunk in. “She could stay with you. It’s safe here.”
“No, it isn’t,” Ryuhei says, and you glare daggers at him. “Don’t. I’m not going to act like there wasn’t –”
Whatever he was going to say, it’s cut off when the girl on your coffee table startles awake. She pushes herself to seated with shaking arms, glancing left, then right. Her eyes are bright red, like Tomura’s, and as you watch, they begin to fill with tears. Her mouth is trembling, and so is her voice when she speaks. “Where’s Deku?”
“Oh, come on,” Tomura complains, and the girl cringes. “You want Midoriya? Really? I – hey!”
You’ve elbowed him into shutting up. The girl is curling in on herself, arms wrapping tight around her knees. “He was going to save me,” she whimpers. “Him and Lemillion and the man with the glasses –”
“They did save you. From Overhaul. Then we saved you from them!” Twice chirps. “It was no trouble. Say thank you!”
“Hey,” you warn. They brought Eri to you. It’s your job to help her. You turn to her and soften your voice. “Hey. It’s okay. You’re safe here. Nobody here is going to hurt you. I promise.”
She shakes her head. “Nobody here will hurt you,” you say again. You don’t even want to think about what it must have been like for this girl to live under Overhaul’s thumb, being tortured by him to manufacture the quirk-canceling bullets. “You aren’t in trouble. You’re not going to be in trouble, and even if you were, there’s nothing you could do that would make one of us hurt you. That’s not what we do.”
“Overhaul –”
“He’s gone,” Tomura says. Eri looks at him. “We got rid of him. I took his quirk away and left him for the heroes. He’s not coming back.”
“We’re not him,” Spinner adds. “He sucked.”
Eri’s shoulders relax slightly at that. Then her face crumples. “I want Deku.”
You preemptively elbow Tomura, then start strategizing. If you touch her, you might get rewound further than you want to be, so you need to find a different way to comfort her. You hand her a box of tissues first, pluck a few out to show her that it’s okay to take them, and get to your feet. “The rest of you, stay where you are,” you order. “I’ll be right back.”
Your apartment doesn’t exactly have kid stuff in it. You find a spare blanket in your hall closet and come back, unfolding it and settling it carefully around Eri’s shoulders. She’s picked up the tissue box, but instead of using it, she’s hugging it. At work, you keep a box of cheap stuffed animals to give to scared kids, for them to hold during their appointments and take with them when they leave. You don’t have any stuffed animals here, so maybe you can give her a pillow. Or –
You head to your room on autopilot, dig into the box of things you brought from your parents’ house, and come back. Tomura’s eyes go straight to the object you’re holding. You know he recognizes it. He wouldn’t be staring like that if he didn’t. “Is that –”
You nod and crouch back down next to the coffee table. “Eri,” you say, and she looks at you. You hold up the plush corgi Tenko gave you for your sixth birthday. “I’ll trade you for the tissue box. This is way more fun to hug than that is.”
Eri’s red eyes brighten ever so slightly, but she’s hesitant to reach for it. Maybe she thinks you’re going to take it away. You set it down on the table and push it towards her, making sure to pull your hand away so she knows you aren’t planning to snatch it back. You feel the smallest sense of relief when she drops the tissue box and grabs the plushie with both hands, hugging it tight against her chest. It’s really cute. Or it would be, if you didn’t know why this is happening to her. If you didn’t know why she’s in your apartment in the first place.
She peers at you from between the plushie’s ears. “Who are you?”
“I’m Saintess,” you say. You’ve never called yourself by your code name before. You feel twenty kinds of dumb. “It’s really nice to meet you. But I know it’s probably not comfortable to sit on the coffee table. How about you go sit in that chair –”
Dabi’s in it. Tomura glares at him until he moves, and Eri stumbles over to it, trailing the blanket and clutching the toy. “And get comfortable,” you tell her. She burrows into the blanket, watching all of you with enormous eyes. “Do you feel okay?”
“Cold,” she says. Chills, then. Probably a fever, too. “It hurts.”
All those bandages. You don’t want to know what’s underneath them. “Okay. I’m going to put on some gloves so it’ll be safe for me to touch you, and then I’ll take your temperature and check to make sure you’re okay. Is that all right with you? It’s okay if it’s not.”
Eri hesitates. “Will I feel better?”
“You won’t feel worse,” you say. She nods, and you go back to the hall closet for your first-aid kit.
You try to tune the others out as you tend to Eri, but you can’t quite make it stick. Dabi is asking Toga and Twice about which heroes they dealt with during the operation against the Hassaikai, Compress is raiding your kitchen, and Spinner is way into your personal space, wanting to know what’s going on with Eri. Tomura is, too, at first. You catch him watching you more than once, a weird look on his face. You know him well enough to know most of his expressions, and that one’s new. You wonder what it means.
Then, while you’re waiting for the thermometer you just put in Eri’s mouth to beep, you glance back to check on Tomura, and he’s gone. He’s over by the kitchen table instead. There’s an envelope in his hands.
No. No, no, no. You grab Ryuhei, order him to take the thermometer out when it beeps and memorize what it says, then race towards Tomura – but you’re way too late. The envelope and the letter inside it crumble to dust as you reach him, and when he looks up at you, his jaw is clenched so tightly that the tendons in his neck are standing out. “What happened?” he snarls.
“Lower your voice,” you beg. You don’t want him to scare Eri. “It’s not a big deal. Nothing bad happened. It’s just –”
“Don’t fucking lie,” Mitsuko says, coming up beside you. You don’t have to warn her to keep her voice down. “That yakuza bastard sent a hitman here to kidnap your girlfriend. It would have worked if Ryuhei hadn’t been here to give him a taste of his own quirk.”
“It’s fine,” you say. “The Hassaikai’s been dismantled, right? It doesn’t matter anymore.”
“They knew where you were,” Tomura says flatly. “When I find out who told them –”
“Nobody had to tell them.” The pieces are coming together in your head, slow and ugly. Overhaul saw the bandage on your hand at the warehouse. He’d have known that the League would need to seek help for Compress, and the free clinics are the only place where an injury like that won’t result in immediate police involvement. “A Hassaikai member showed up at my clinic. He asked about my hand.”
“Overhaul brought it up, too.” Tomura’s right hand lifts, clawing at his neck – lightly at first, then harder. “You – Inada – why did you use the kid’s quirk on her?”
“She got radiation poisoning. That’s the fucking hitman’s quirk.” Mitsuko ignores you when you tell her to shut up. “My guess is, Over-fuck knew he could fix whatever his hitman did when he got ahold of her. Him fixing it wasn’t an option. So I used the kid.”
“I owe you.” Tomura is still scratching, and now he’s focused on you. “They knew where you were. They’ve known since we made the alliance. It – fuck!”
“Hey, keep it down,” Spinner calls anxiously. “You’re scaring the kid.”
“Her temperature is 40 degrees,” Ryuhei adds.
Shit. “We need to table this,” you say to Tomura. His eyes flash. “That girl is really sick. It’s not safe for her to stay here, and I can’t help her the way she needs. She has to go to people who can help her.”
“The heroes? Fuck that.”
“She has to,” you say again. “They can help her. We can’t.”
“What makes you think they’ll do anything?” Tomura’s expression twists. One of his nails digs deep into the side of his neck and pulls up blood, and just like you did before, you cover his neck with your hand. “They won’t give a shit. They didn’t when it was – when –”
He breaks off. You wait, and he looks away. “Forget it.”
“They’re running her name and picture on the news,” Mitsuko says. “They care about what happens to her, and you all are in enough trouble without another kidnapping on your record. They’ll look for you twice as hard.”
Tomura’s fingernails scrape lightly across the back of your hand before his hand comes to rest over yours, index finger raised. “I’m not just dumping her on the street.”
“You won’t be,” you promise. “I’ll take her to the police station. I can say I found her wandering around –”
“So they’ll think we just dumped her on the street.”
“Or that she got away somehow. I don’t know.” You don’t have time for this. “Her fever’s high enough that she might not remember anything. If she does, she’ll remember we didn’t hurt her. That we took care of her while she was with us. She’ll know we aren’t him.”
Tomura’s shoulders relax slightly. It matters to him to be better than Overhaul. It matters to you, too. “Hang on,” Dabi says from where he’s leaning against the wall. “Maybe we shouldn’t send Saintess to drop the kid off. She’s had one run-in with the Hassaikai already, and the police already know about it. Her turning up with the kid is too big of a coincidence. Inada should be the one.”
“Two run-ins. Overhaul sent somebody here for her.” Tomura’s hand tightens around yours. “Her identity’s compromised. When we leave this time, she’s coming with us.”
Your stomach drops. “The kid trusts her,” Tomura continues. “And she’s a nurse. It’ll look like we left the kid by the clinic or something.”
“Why does it matter where we drop the kid off?”
“So we don’t end up looking worse than they do,” Tomura snaps. “What’s the point of revealing their hypocrisy if we just throw someone away?”
It’s quiet for a second. “Wait until nightfall, then,” Dabi says shortly. “So we can at least keep a lid on the number of people who see Saintess wandering around carrying a missing kid.”
“She’s sick,” Spinner says. “Doesn’t she need help as soon as possible?”
“Not if it gets us caught!”
You’re on Spinner’s team here. “What if Compress uses his quirk on me and Eri both? Then he can bring us near the police station, so we won’t have to walk as far and risk getting spotted. We won’t even show up on camera until we’re right there.”
“What kind of distance can you release your quirk from?” Tomura asks Compress, who shrugs. “If it’s far enough, you can give the sphere to Inada or Sasegawa to carry.”
That’s the plan they settle on, eventually. Compress will use his quirk on you and Eri, Mitsuko will carry you both to the police station and text when she’s there, and Compress will deactivate his quirk from a distance. Eri’s breathing is raspy. You need to hurry. You roll her up carefully in the blanket, making sure she doesn’t touch you. “The puppy,” she mumbles. “Can I keep him?”
“Of course,” you say. You were too old for it, and you don’t need a keepsake of Tenko when you have the real thing. “He’ll take good care of you as long as you take good care of him. Are you ready to go?”
She nods. You pick her up. Rolled in the blanket like this, she’s unwieldy but light. You turn to face Compress. “Okay, let’s do this. We –”
You get compressed mid-sentence, and the next thing you know, you’re standing in an alleyway a block and a half from the police station, face to face with Mitsuko. “Be careful,” she says. She looks pissed, and you’re not sure why. “Look, me and Ryuhei are activating the sleeper thing right after this, and you’re going with them. We’re not going to see each other for a while.”
Oh. “I’m going to miss you,” you tell her. Mitsuko laughs. “They still don’t know my face. We’ll see each other.”
“We’d better.”
“Keep an eye on Yoshimi for me,” you continue. “And Kazuo. I worry about them.”
“We all do,” Mitsuko says. “And now we have to worry about you, too.”
You feel a surge of guilt, one that melts into bemusement when Mitsuko leans in and plants a kiss on your lips. “Go on. I’ll see you around, Saintess.”
Saintess. That’s your name now, isn’t it? It’s the one everyone’s going to use. Mitsuko leaves the alley first, heading in one direction. You stand still and watch her go, watching a piece of the life you had before disappear around the corner. Then you adjust your grip on Eri and aim for the police station.

✨UPDATED!✨
All of my Frobin fics I have written from December 2023 when I first started writing, up through my most recent work posted October 2024, stored in one convenient place! 🌸
🍔 Staying Right Here (and not a step closer)
RATING: E
words: 317,056 status: COMPLETE chapters: 14
Set the week Post-Enies Lobby. The core lore mostly canon compliant getting together fic. Weird sex, fast food, and an accidental wedding. My first big fic, and an adventure into writing smut. Epilogues go up through timeskip/Fishman Island reunion.
🐊 These Foolish Things
RATING: M
words: 14,178 status: ONE SHOT
Includes the Wanihana ship to tell a story of Robin's healing over time. A songfic that uses a whole catalog of Frank Sinatra songs to frame Franky and Crocodile's differing relationships to Robin. A bit more serious, as it discusses abuse. This one was a practice in writing in complex tense.
✈️ Floating Through the Stratosphere
RATING: E
words: 30,742 status: COMPLETE chapters: 2
Modern day airplane pilot AU except they are only rarely on the plane. Half one-bed-rom-com, half amnesia medical drama. This was a really fun world to build up, and I've been considering writing more stories within this world.
🕵🏻♀️ The Sunday Affair
RATING: E
Words: 108,898 status: COMPLETE chapters: 11
Robin is a Russian spy, Franky is an American spy. Its 1967 Cold War DC. Franky is assigned to find and kill an assassin named Sunday, Robin has to assassinate an agent named Flam. Oh, and they're married.
⏱ Another Day in the Sun
RATING: T
words: 43,413 status: ONGOING chapters: 7/ ???
The crew is stuck in a time loop, living the same day over and over again, but only some can tell. Matchmakers Robin and Franky have to get everyone to kiss each other. A thinly veiled fun little excuse to make everyone make out. And also its a bit (lot) poly (Paradise+EB5). An adventure in keeping things T.
👌 The Contest
Rating: M
Words: 10,220 status: ONE SHOT
Nami has the crew bet how long they can all go without…finding their satisfaction, so to speak. She’s determined to make it out of the contest eight hundred thousand beri richer, but that will mean making plenty of sacrifices. Will the crew be able to hold it together or will the pressure make them pop? (EB5+Frob+a bit of Paradise with Jinbe+some NamiRobin tease)
🍼 Super Troupers
RATING: M
words: 11,130 status: ONGOING chapters: 1 (/3)
A baby fic! Chapter 1 is mostly set up, pregnancy, and delivery. But I'm still working at the follow up chapters, I want to tell more little stories with each of the boys. A bit sweet and sappy and emotionally indulgent but I don't care I love this fambly. M rating only for blood and a few intense discussions around pregnancy.
⚡️ What Makes a Man
RATING: M
words: 58,073 status: ONGOING chapters: 14 (/25)
Putting the Franky in Frankenstein. A reanimation fic. Franky dies at Laugh Tale but leaves behind instructions for Robin to put him back together. Mainly meant to be little pocket character studies. BACK FROM THE DEAD, NOT ABANDONED FIC! I told ya I'd update it.
💀 For the Thrill of It
RATING: E
words: 46,551 status: COMPLETE chapters: 2
Nasty spooky Thriller Bark monsterfucker erotica. Brook joins the party and things get Weird. 5+1 but more like a 5+2. Established Frob with added skeleton. Chapter 2 has now been added, Robin's pov + bonus scenes. And perhaps a chapter 3 still lives in the back of my brain.
🤖 Handle With Care
RATING: E
words: 13,365 status: ONE SHOT
More nasty erotica for the sake of itself. Franky gets hurt, needing significant repairs and a full service tune up. This one is distinctly T4T. This one was written simply because no one else had written like, proper robot shit with Franky on ao3 and I was so appalled to see the hole in the market that I just HAD to fill it.
🧰 Showoff (the devil’s in the details)
RATING: E
words: 16,929 status: ONE SHOT
Even MORE pwp. Post-Egghead on the run to Elbaf, Franky shows Lilith Sunny and all of his little inventions. Things heat up between him, her, and Robin, but Vegapunk keeps all the praise to herself. This one was written in gut reaction to the most recent chapter, and I think I wrote it for entirely personal reasons lol. Franky just wants to be told he did a good job.
That's all I wrote! 610,000 words this year (of just my posted fics, not counting other works and wips) (and 45,000 words posted Halloweek alone!). I'm really proud about how my writing has developed over the year, I hadn't written much in the past so this was a huge journey, but a really fun one. Thanks for growing with me! Enjoy the works!

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the newest installation in the beloved fantasy RPG Dragon Age franchise. You play as Rook, a customizable character, on a journey with your mentor, Varric, and his team to stop elven gods from destroying the world. The timed trial concludes after five hours of play. You’ll start right at the beginning with the opportunity to create your Rook and fight alongside series-favorite Varris Tethras through a chaotic moment in Minrathous, a city which has been long-spoken about in Dragon Age but never seen until now. Your team is trying to stop Solas’ tumultuous ritual, which threatens to flood the world in demons and cause massive devastation. Along the way, you’ll meet a few of Rook’s companions who will open up a wealth of new combat options as you progress through the trial. If you don’t spend too long in our in-depth Character Creator, you may get as far as recruiting the Veil Jumper Bellara, our elven artifact expert, along your journey. If you’re a Character Creator aficionado like many of us but don’t want that to cut into your five hour trial, we recommend you check out the stand alone Character Creator we released on Dragon Age Day to make your Rook first**. You can take your time to perfect your Rook, as there is no time limit for the stand alone Character Creator. We’ve ensured that you can import your customized Rook from there into the timed trial. When creating your Rook, there will be an “import” button to use any pre-created Rooks from the same device/console."

"We’ve also worked with some excellent content creators within our community to make class and build guides! For those of you getting into the trial, we hope you enjoy the latest chapter in the Dragon Age series and experience what critics are calling “a high fantasy romp fueled by fast, fluid combat” (EMPIRE) and “one of the year’s best” (Rolling Stone) in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Make sure your platform account is linked to your EA Play account in order to access the trial! We have loved seeing the community’s reaction to Dragon Age: The Veilguard and sharing this adventure with all of you. We still have another planned patch for early 2025 - so stay tuned and have a great rest of the year. Talk soon. (Dareth shiral!) — The Dragon Age Team"

|| Limitless ||
[CHAPTER 14]
SYNOPSIS: Gojo Satoru, a big time artist, who’s known for leaving a trail of broken hearts in his wake wherever he goes. And you, the lead guitarist of an upcoming band, who’s absolutely certain that no one will ever love you. Through an accident in which you happened to kiss Gojo in a frantic state, you both decide, via convenience alone—and zero regard for both of your managers—to pull a fake dating stunt what could go wrong? Any press is good press…right?
PREVIOUS : MASTERLIST : NEXT
You stayed back late on Monday to work on some lyrics and some other things that you needed to get put in order before the big performance at Geto’s event. This event was extremely important. It held great meaning you needed everything to go perfectly.
So there you sat at 8pm click click clicking away at your computer. You had to admit, all this work that you’d fallen back on was almost too much for you to handle. You’d even briefly hovered over Maki’s contact to summon her. You weren’t sure if you wanted her moral support or her simple help, but you needed something.
The minutes ticked by as you stared at your laptop display, wondering what to type. Making up scenarios, even remembering and reviewing past arguments wishing you’d spoken your mind. That was something you had to work on.
You were halfway though reciting what you were going to say at the concert, expressing what a great honour it would be when the door slammed open
You looked over at the door to see the culprit, it was Inumaki. With Yuji closely following behind.
Inumaki slammed his files down on the desk slamming his hand on top, Yuji mumbling something about calming down. Inumaki sat at the table sulking as Yuji’s face morphed into that of worry upon noticing you.
You stared at the scene for a moment, collecting your barrings. “What’s wrong?”
You had honestly expected the answer to be, I can’t work out my chords and managed snapped the strings on my base or I got offered to do a brand deal with a shitty company that I don’t even like and I don’t want to do it however my hands are tied since the promotion team wants me to do it.
Instead, you got; “your stupid boyfriend is what’s wrong”
By now, the fake dating thing was old news: you didn’t startle anymore when Satoru was referred to as your boyfriend. Still, Inumaki’s words were so full of venom and unexpected that you couldn’t help but answer, “Who?”
“Gojo.” He spat his name like it was a curse.
“Oh.”
“He wasn’t the nicest to Inumaki just now.” Yuji explained in a significantly milder tone, avoiding your eyes, you knew these boys too well, they never got like this about anyone, no matter what.
“Oh. Right.” This was bad. Very bad. “What happened.”
“He essentially told me I’ll never amount to anything as an bassist. He fucked with my guitar tune too.”
“Shit.” You bit your lower lip. “I’m sorry, Inumaki.”
“It’s completely fucked up all of, well, everything. Set me back. All because Gojo has to go and nitpick everything. I didn’t even ask for his fucking opinion.”
You chewed on the inside of your cheek, trying to come up with something inspiring to say and failing miserably. “I’m really sorry.”
“Y/N do you guys talk about this stuff?” Yuji asked out of the blue, eyeing you suspiciously. “Does he tell you about his opinions on this stuff?”
“What? No. No, I…” I talk to him for exactly fifteen minutes a week. And okay, yeah, I’ve kissed him. Twice. Sat on his lap. Once. But it’s just that, and Gojo—he speaks very little. I actually which he spoke more, since I know nothing about him and I’d like to know at least something. “No, he doesn’t. I think it would probably be awkward if he did, considering you’re, you know, in the same band as me.”
“God.” Inumaki slammed his hand against the edge of the table, making your jump. “He’s such a dick. What as sadistic asshole.”
You opened your mouth—to do what, exactly? To defend Satoru? He was a dick. You had seen him being a dick. In full action. Maybe not recently, and maybe not to you, but if you’d wanted to count on your fingers the number of acquaintances who’d ended up in tears because of him, well…you would be both your hands, then your toes. Maybe borrow some of Yuji’s, too.
“Did he explain where you should improve at least? What you need to work on?”
“Everything. He wants me to change everything right from my work ethic to how much I practice to how I look at my guitar when I play. And the way he said it, his air of superiority—he is so arrogant.”
Well. It was no news, really. You scratched your cheek, trying not to sigh. “It sucks. I’m sorry,” you repeated once more, at a loss for anything better and genuinely feeling for Inumaki.
“Yeah, well.” He stood and walked around the table, coming to a stop in front of you. “You should be.”
You froze. Surely you just misheard. “Excuse me?”
“You’re his girlfriend.”
“I…” really am not. But, even if you had been. “Toge, I’m only dating him. I’m not him. How could I have anything to do with—”
“You’re fine with all this. With him acting like that—like an asshole on a power trip. You don’t give a shit about the way he treats everyone in the world, otherwise, you wouldn’t be able to stomach being with him.”
At his tone, you took a step back.
Yuji lifted his hands in a peacekeeping gesture, coming to stand between you. “Hey, now. Let’s not—”
“I’m not the one who said that to you, Toge.”
“Maybe. But you don’t care that half of the fucking world lives in terror of your boyfriend, either.”
You felt anger bubbling up. “That is not true, you know that. I am able to keep my professional relationships and my personal feelings for him—”
“Because you don’t give a shit about anyone but yourself.”
“That’s unfair. What am I supposed to do?”
“Get him to stop being a dick.”
“Get him—” you sputtered. “Toge how is that a rational response for you to have about Satoru criticising you—”
“Ah, Satoru, is it?”
You gritted your teeth. “Yes, Satoru. What should I call my boyfriend to better please you? Mr Satoru Gojo?”
“If you were a half decent ally to the world, you would just dump your fucking boyfriend.”
“How—do you even realise how little sense you’re…”
No reason to finish your sentence, since Inumaki was storming out of the room and slamming the door behind him. Clearly he was uninterested in anything you might have wanted to add. You ran a hand down your face, unsettled by what had just happened.
“He’s not…he doesn’t really mean that. Not about you at least.” Yuji said, scratching his head. A nice reminder to you that he had been standing there, in the room, for the entirety of this conversation. Front-row seat. It was going to take maybe fifteen minutes before everyone else’s knew about it.
You nodded. “Yeah, well.” Being horrible to me isn’t going to make his improvements go any faster, you didn’t add
Yuji sighed. “It’s not personal. But you have to understand it’s weird for us. Because Gojo…maybe he wasn’t like this to you but you must know the kind of guy he is right?”
You rolled you eyes. You were fully aware, you’d been told millions of times by now. You were tired, if anything. All you did was nod, grab your belongings and leave, not saying a word leaving Yuji stood in that room alone. You didn’t have the energy for any of this.
Once you got home, you lay on your unmade bed looking up at the glow-in-the-dark stars. It had been more that two years since you had borrowed Megumi’s step ladder and fearfully stuck them to the ceiling. The glue was starting to give out, and the large comet in the corner by the window was going to fall off any day now. Without thinking it through you rolled out of bed and rummaged inside the pocket of your discarded jeans until you found your cellphone.
You hadn’t used Satoru’s number since he’d given it to you a few days ago—“If anything comes up or you need to cancel, just give me a call. It’s quicker than email.” When you tapped the blue “message” icon under his name a white screen popped up, a blank slate with no history of previous messages. It gave you an odd rush of anxiety, so much so that you typed the text with one hand while biting the thumbnail on the other.
