I'm doing grad student work in technical writing. I'm writing an essay about adjusting user manuals to match the reader's preferences.
Please share this poll around! This is secretly a poll about Kolb's Learning Styles. I've never seen a poll about Kolb's styles before, and I want to see which of these preferences is most common.
This is v2 of this poll. My first poll got feedback about choices not quite matching the Kolb styles. Feel free to leave feedback in the replies or tags. Thanks for your help!

It's wild looking at my life trajectory of being a young journalist who would have loved to work at The New York Times or Slate or NPR to someone telling spouse over breakfast, after said spouse said they heard/read on these three sources that "the Black and Latino vote gave the election to Trump":
"You really need to stop turning to these sources for analysis. They are fine with straight news. But when they want to do commentary or analysis, they focus on the thing that they find most interesting and surprising and likely to grab your attention, not the thing that is most significant for the outcome"
and then i whipped out the numbers from the NBC exit poll showing that black voter support for Trump had a 0% change since 2020, with black men's support for Trump going up by a single percentage point and black women's support for Trump dropping by 2%.
Commentators are making a big fucking deal about a 1 percentage point change among black men without pointing out that black men make up only 5% of the electorate so that change had zero effect on the election outcome and likely would have continued to have absolutely zero effect even in a much closer race.
I think it's curious that commentators in "liberal" media have decided that this is somehow comparable to the much larger shifts toward Trump in other demographic groups, including Latinx and young people, especially young men. Or, more significantly, the fact that the majority of white people voted for Trump.
Even with the shift among Latinx voters, the percentage voting for Harris (53%) was far higher than among non-Hispanic whites (43%).
I also think it's curious that their commentary talks about members of minority groups "deciding" elections when more than 70% of the electorate are white.
"Oh," spouse said. "They didn't point any of that out."
Of course they didn't. Because that would mean they would have to focus on white people. (I acknowledge here that white men voted for Trump and larger numbers than white women. But also, it appears that the majority of white women voted for Trump, and certainly in larger percentages and raw numbers than Latinas or black women or "other"s.)
If white people who had voted for Trump had voted instead for Harris, that would have affected the election outcome, too, wouldn't it?
But somehow, that is not interesting to the media, because 'white people' is just some abstract immutable force and the individuals who make up that population actually have no agency in the choices they make. /s
Commentators need to stop acting like white people are just going to keep white peopling no matter what, so it's the responsibility of POC to save us from ourselves.
Fuck that bullshit. I don't care if you grew up in the whitest white white town in the whitest county in the whitest state in the Union. White people are just as responsible for our choices as anyone else. It is absolutely bullshit to talk about POC "deciding" the election while ignoring the white elephant in the room.
This is what people mean when we talk about white supremacy. It doesn't mean that every white person thinks that they are better than everybody else. White supremacy means treating white beliefs and choices so much as the default that we forget that they are *beliefs* and *choices* anymore.
White people make up the majority of the electorate. The majority of white people voted for Trump. That is not true of any of any other racialized voter group for which I was able to find statistics.
If we are going to say that any one demographic group "decided" the election, then we are going to have to say that it was white people.
Editorial comment: I feel like this should be obvious from everything I've said above, but to be clear, I think it's bullshit to say that any one demographic group decided the election. Each one of us is responsible for our choices. It's not useless to look at demographic trends, but it is useless to blame entire demographic groups for how the election turned out--unless that demographic group is a self-selected one like "people who had the opportunity to vote and voted for Trump and/or did not vote for the only viable alternative, Kamala Harris."

one of the handy things being a word nerd/ex-debate kid taught me is that if you talk long enough and do enough fancy rhetorical backflips you can make a reasonably convincing argument for some absolutely ridiculous ideas, especially if your audience doesnāt have a level of baseline knowledge to lean back on
the reason this is handy because it also taught me that just because somebody sounds confident and seems informed doesnāt mean they arenāt cherrypicking data and thus, using the truth to lie their fucking faces off
#found this in my drafts looking for something else and i stand by it#there is Just Straight Up Lying and then there are damned statistics and all that#which can be used to so thoroughly skew the information being given it may as well be a straight up lie#and in some ways this kind of fuckery can be more damaging#saying āoh thatās just a lieā is easy for most people to understand if not always believe#saying āyeah so those facts are technically true but the presentation has rendered them meaninglessā is harder for a lot of people

i think that if ulquiorra were to somehow like. survive and live in the human world in some sort of gigai/secret mission type thing i think he'd still continue to try and Figure Humans out (he'd be more normal about it, now having the whole heart question figured out) and he'd try to understand other human things besides, ya know, basic human emotions and morals. Of course, he would go to orihime, who has undoubtedly proven herself to be well, a humans expert, for advice. but what he doesnt know is that she is also extremely strange in her own way so it'd just result in him getting weirder which i just think would be incredibly funny.
#ulquiorra;trying to gather information on humans:#the average human eats one bowl of soup with bananas and red bean paste#and alsp an entire loaf of bread for lunch#this is a statistical error; weird food combinations orihime who daily creates the strangest food abombinations known to man is an outlier#and should not have been counted.#i just think we dont talk about the fact that shes a weirdgirl enough.#ulquiorra; attempting to be a Normal HumanTM going to karakura towns weirdest girl for Normal advice. shenagains ensue.#do. do you see the vision.#ulquihime

having a pretty large backlog of content that many people are unwilling to consume before getting into the fandom so they make art/fic/posts from a āsolely read fanfiction and not consumed the media itselfā space and it results in beliefs about the world/characters/lore that are extremely divorced from the series itself overtaking the fan space.
#space rambles#lil hater moments#yes this post is why i made up that tag#iāll be real. this is. perhaps a little mean. hence why i am not tagging it#not maintagging it i mean. iām on mobile iām not fixing that#but itās true. and you know it#to be clear i am not a comics fan but a lot of my friends are#so iām like. aware of this#but i think people writing watcher fic should do the thing that comics writers sometimes do#which is put in the notes/tags āi havenāt read the comics but i read fics i really likedā#so that i know when i should leave#like i KNOW that eyes and ears is pretty divorced from evos lore at this point#itās an au of the life series and also of evos#but that doesnāt mean knowing nothing about evos ISNT detrimental to how you think about the life series#because there is simply SO MUCH that we donāt know about eyes and ears#and you can either fill those gaps with things that are based in evos/informed by knowledge of evos#or you can. not.#this is ESPECIALLY true for depictions of the listeners but itās also obviously true of the watchers#like iām sure iāve encountered good content about the watchers from people who have not watched evos/know nothing about it#just like. statistically.#i suspect it was probably content having to do w/ martyn specifically. most specifically having to do w/ the void#cause like. idk i trust martyn writers most of the time#but i digress#this wasnāt supposed to be a rant. i am so sorry

maybe this is a luddite position, but noticing that generative ai has greatly reduced the functionality of former mainstay search engines is reasonable to point out, even in cases where the search engine has degraded over time prior to their chatgpt parts.
#generative ai is just... a very weird tool to use for writing and for summerizing information.#it also has trouble parsing statistical formulas. but that's neither here nor there.

It wasn't till I realised how gigantic Cassian's wings are that I remembered he and Azriel are lesser Fae. They really do walk everywhere with giant wings at their back because they can't make them disappear and reappear. Giant bat wings are the Illyrian version of a tail, green skin, webbed feet or sharp teeth. They don't have super powers, they're just elves with wings (and Siphons of course, but we get the idea).
I figured Human vs Fae would be the biggest point of racism in this world but OMG how the Old Generation of Royals detest the Lesser Fae.š Like ah ahn, your own race again?? Lucien's execution was ordered cause he insisted on marrying one. Rhys' father was furious too.
It was bad enough that he found out his mate was Lesser Fae. Bad enough that he'd decided he'd take the risk with a hybrid child and raise Rhys so strong and cold enough to withstand the hate he'd been born into. Then he sends his son off to training and Rhys comes back having befriended the two most infamous bastards in the entire of Illyria and was calling them "brother". Nah, Rhys' father boiled. ššš Legit sent Cassian to the front lines of every battle and kept Azriel so busy he'd never leave his side.
(Also hypocritical about the Lesser Fae being less cause they barely pass as human).
Cassian - An orphan titled the prince of Bastards for reasons that are spoilers.
Azriel - Born from a 'mistress', speaks to shadows, mangled and scarred by his family's torture.
Baby Rhys: They are my brothers. šš
His Dad, explodes with rage: Lesser born half breeds and you call them your family?! Do you think I worked this hard to raise you to perfection just for you to throw it all away.
Rhys: But they're my brothers. š
His Dad: They're weaknesses that's what they are. šI will not have you be the death of me Rhysand! Rhys: (Ends up bringing about his father's death because he befriended TAMLIN! š - Real ironic. Tamlin, the pureblood High Fae, the downfall of Rhys' family.)
#Shocking statistics reveal that most High Fae deaths are actually brought about.....by OTHER HIGH FAE!#High Fae fighting over territory#High Fae fighting over women#High Fae who can't mind their damn business#acotar#a court of thorns and roses#a court of mist and fury#rhysand#cassian#azriel#night court#rhys acotar#The Other High Fae would be shocked to learn about the statistics#assuming they're able to raise their heads out of plotting against each other long enough to register the information#illyrian

I always forget about ao3 functions. Literally only realised you could private bookmarks recently and I only found out you could view statistics like last week. What do you mean thereās a few hundred people subscribed to you and get silly little emails when you post? What a weird little site. But very funny to see other peopleās reviews Iām sure the vast vast majority of yours are AMAZING. Long Live is a fic Iāve definitely read more than once- itās amazing and yeah of course itās not actual Charles. Thatās kind of the thing about rpf, none of it is real. Go read a Leclerc biography and not a fanfic if thatās what you want š
"GO READ A LECLERC BIOGRAPHY AND NOT A FANFIC IF THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT" i'm fucking screaming. YOU ARE SO CORRECT.
that's the beauty of fanfiction, isn't it? i can make my character anything i want them to be. it can be "realistic" or it can be out of pocket or it can be a mixture of both. nobody can stop me in fanfiction. nobody can tell me how i'm "SUPPOSED" to write Charles, because... it's fucking fiction.
i'm not a reporter writing history.
i'm just a silly little fanfiction writer.
p.s. thank you for your kind words about long live, i'm so glad you enjoyed it šš
#ao3 functions really are silly bestie#heads up to any new (or old) ao3 authors out there... you can click on your statistics under your dashboard settings and get an overview#you can see things that aren't public information too#like how many user subs you have and how many bookmarks a fic has including private#it also gives you a snapshot of how many words kudos subs fics etc. that you have on your profile#fun little tool!#(don't let yourself get obsessed with checking it though. it doesn't define who you are as a person.)

I encourage people to give their reasons why (not forced, but I am interested in what you pick and why)
Context 2: A Himbo is a dumb or naive man, who, despite looking like an asshole Chad, is actually sweet, respectful, and kind. Typically large, beefy, and relatively handsome, but friendly.
Context: a friend of mine said that Max is a himbo and I wanted to know what the general population of NPMDblr would think
Please reblog for a larger sample size
