having a pretty large backlog of content that many people are unwilling to consume before getting into the fandom so they make art/fic/posts from a “solely read fanfiction and not consumed the media itself” space and it results in beliefs about the world/characters/lore that are extremely divorced from the series itself overtaking the fan space.

#space rambles #lil hater moments #yes this post is why i made up that tag #i’ll be real. this is. perhaps a little mean. hence why i am not tagging it #not maintagging it i mean. i’m on mobile i’m not fixing that #but it’s true. and you know it #to be clear i am not a comics fan but a lot of my friends are #so i’m like. aware of this #but i think people writing watcher fic should do the thing that comics writers sometimes do #which is put in the notes/tags ‘i haven’t read the comics but i read fics i really liked’#so that i know when i should leave #like i KNOW that eyes and ears is pretty divorced from evos lore at this point #it’s an au of the life series and also of evos #but that doesn’t mean knowing nothing about evos ISNT detrimental to how you think about the life series #because there is simply SO MUCH that we don’t know about eyes and ears #and you can either fill those gaps with things that are based in evos/informed by knowledge of evos #or you can. not.#this is ESPECIALLY true for depictions of the listeners but it’s also obviously true of the watchers #like i’m sure i’ve encountered good content about the watchers from people who have not watched evos/know nothing about it #just like. statistically.#i suspect it was probably content having to do w/ martyn specifically. most specifically having to do w/ the void #cause like. idk i trust martyn writers most of the time #but i digress #this wasn’t supposed to be a rant. i am so sorry
