hi there !!! thank you for the request and for the kind words! I hope you enjoy your little "cat cafe date" with dan heng ^w^
"Hey."
The first thing Dan Heng hears when he returns to the Astral Express is none other than your voice, and he couldn't be happier.
Though Pom Pom had immediately begun chatting with March 7th and the Trailblazer about their recent expedition, and though he was sure Himeko had mentioned something to him in passing, everything had been blocked from his mind until he finally saw your face.
You're in the same place as always when you're waiting for him to return.
Relaxing on his makeshift bed in the archives, a rare traditional book held in your hands as he slides the door open.
Dan Heng doesn't say anything in response. He merely walks over to your side, slumping into your arms which are already open for him, book set to the side.
"'m home."
"Tough one, huh? I heard Himeko providing assistance. I wish I could've gone down there myself. Are you hurt?"
"It wasn't so bad. I'm fine. I wouldn't have let you come anyhow, though."
"Right, right," you chuckled fondly, brushing the man's raven locks from his eyes as he pushed his face into your neck, relaxing as he inhaled your scent.
You had received more than a few wounds protecting researchers at the Herta Space Station from the Antimatter Legion, and Dan Heng had been particularly fussy over your condition.
It wasn't often that he showed palpable concern for anyone, so you were sure to follow his wishes and stay on the Express for the Jarilo VI mission—as much as you did want to be by his side.
Still, he seemed pleased that you'd spent time recovering, and so you figured it was worth the tradeoff.
You pressed a gentle kiss to the man's forehead, watching his face scrunch cutely in response. Giggling, you nudged his shoulder.
"Well, how does a nice, warm bath sound to you? That planet sure looked chilly."
Dan Heng only manages a slight murmur of approval, eyes droopy as you lead him to the bathroom.
The two of you soak up in the sudsy water before long, and you take your time massaging the stress from his muscles. Though he often played off the more difficult missions as no sweat, you were always privy to the way he practically collapsed into his makeshift bed after a trying trailblaze.
So, you'd be sure to pamper him as much as he needed, at least for today.
And as he slowly drifted off in your arms, slumping at the soothing rhythm of your hands washing his hair, you're more than happy to be the one he calls home.

Summary: 55,000 years ago, the protheans won a Pyrrhic victory over the reapers. From the ashes of the Prothean Republic and the rusting hulks of the reapers, the ancient asari grew into a galaxy-spanning empire. Two people on opposite sides first meet during an abduction that threatens to upend the tenuous armistice between the Asari Empire and the Terminus Systems. Decades later, they face each other again as forced allies and unwitting political pawns when the galaxy’s three major factions collide.
Chapter 2: Sphere of Influence
55 Tevos 437 Forty years later, one of the last things Thaia had ever expected was to see Aria T’Loak and her most trusted lieutenant, Soraya T’Perro, again. On Omega. On friendly terms. With Thaia being assigned a job by Aria. And Thaia accepting it because she had no choice if she wanted to stay on Omega while waiting for the Omega-4 Relay to be cleared of sabotage from the human terrorist group, Cerberus. All she wanted to do was study it and continue her work with designing and building a prototype relay for the asari, yet here she was, about to be working for Aria T’Loak. “—and I can’t have you idling on my station,” Aria was saying while standing across from Thaia, the large operations table between them. A technical model of Omega’s structure slowly rotated above it, two sections near the mine highlighted, and a third highlighted section at the opposite end. “You’ll be pulling some guard duty.” Please not any of the clubs. Aria signaled to Soraya, who lifted a bag from the floor and set it on the table in front of Thaia. Then she unzipped it, revealing a full kit of low-profile body armor, clothing manufactured from ballistic cloth, and other sundries commandos on personal bodyguard details often used. “I had my people pick up your weapons. Your pistol is in the bag. Your other weapons and belongings are currently being moved to more secure and far better lodgings,” Soraya said, and then studied her for a moment. “Bit of a shithole you were living in.”

When two American astronauts blasted off on a test mission to the International Space Station on 5 June, they were expecting to be back home in a matter of days.
But things didn't quite go to plan.
In fact, Barry “Butch” Wilmore and Sunita Williams are still there, floating high above the Earth nearly two months later.
The pair - who are stuck indefinitely - now face the sudden prospect of missing the summer entirely and even spending Christmas and New Year in space.
Mr Wilmore, 61, and Ms Williams, 58, flew a Boeing Starliner spacecraft to the station. It was the first flight of its kind with people on board and was a test designed to see how the new spacecraft performs before it is used more regularly.
Problems, however, emerged as it made its approach. These included leaks in its propulsion system and some of its thrusters shutting down.
So while they made it to the space station safely, they will need an alternative mode of transport to get home if the Starliner is not deemed safe to return to Earth.
At a news briefing on Wednesday, Nasa officials said no firm decisions had been made when it comes to next steps.
"Our prime option is to return Butch and Suni on Starliner," Steve Stich, manager of Nasa's Commercial Crew Program, said. "However, we have done the requisite planning to make sure we have other options open.”
One potential option being considered, they said, is to attach the two astronauts to a mission that is scheduled to launch in September, and return them to earth with that mission in February 2025.
That flight to the space station will be made by a SpaceX Crew Dragon craft. The initial plan was for four crew members to be aboard, but two of the seats could be left empty if needed.
That plan would mean the astronauts would spend more than eight months – rather than eight days – aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
If the Crew Dragon is used, the Starliner craft would be returned to Earth without any crew, under computer control.
Nasa officials said it could take a week or more for a final decision to be made.
What a year in Space does to the body
Starliner: The US Space industry's next big thing?
Ken Bowersox, Nasa's director of space operations, told reporters the chances of an uncrewed return of the Starliner “have increased a little bit based on where things have gone over the last week or two.”
"That's why we're looking more closely at that option to make sure that we can handle it," he said.
Using a SpaceX craft to return the astronauts would be a blow to Boeing, which has for years tried to compete with the company and its more experienced Crew Dragon.
Earlier this week, Nasa used a SpaceX rocket to deliver more food and supplies to the ISS, including extra clothes for the two astronauts.
Last month, in a short press briefing, the pair said they were "absolutely confident” in the return trip and Starliner was “truly impressive.”
This is the third stint aboard the ISS for Ms Williams, a retired Navy helicopter pilot, while Mr Wilmore is a former fighter jet pilot who has been to space twice before.
“We've been thoroughly busy up here, integrated right into the crew,” Ms Williams told reporters during a recent briefing call.
“It feels like coming back home. It feels good to float around. It feels good to be in space and work up here with the International Space Station team," she said. "So yeah, it’s great to be up here.”
Boeing was hoping that the maiden Starliner mission would pave the way for regular use of its capsule for missions back and forth to the station. The Space X Crew Dragon has been approved for Nasa missions since 2020.
Although the astronauts will spend much more time in space than they initially planned, others have spent much longer periods above the Earth's surface. Russian Valeri Polyakov spent 437 days in space in aboard the Mir space station in the mid-1990s.
Last year, Frank Rubio returned from the ISS after 371 days, the longest time an American has spent in space.
And Russia's Oleg Kononenko, also currently aboard the ISS, is the first person to have spent more than 1,000 days in space during the course of their career.
In their briefings and interviews, the two Americans have been upbeat about their situation. "I’m not complaining that we’re here for a couple extra weeks," Ms Williams said last month.
As things stand, the pair may be there for many more weeks to come.

20 questions for fic writers!
thanks for the tag @signiorbenedickofpadua! gonna put this under a cut since it's a little long :)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
22.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
Just under 77,500.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Right now, just Sandman – but I do have an unfinished MCU story that I'd like to get back to, and there are definitely other fandoms I'd like to play around in at some point. I'm pretty unfocused, it just depends on whatever tickles my fancy.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Kind of Blue, a kind of fire (443) In the February Sun (437) let your heart be light (381) Headache (356) First Time (322)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to respond to every comment! (Although I'm super behind right now. Sometime soon I'll have a nice long self-indulgent afternoon of re-reading comments and finally responding.) I like to respond mostly because, as someone who reads a lot of fic, I get really excited when an author responds to my comments, and I want people who read my work and take the time to leave a comment to have the same feeling :) Also, I just feel like it's polite to say thank you when people say nice things!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I... don't really write angst. Like, at all. I am all about fluff and disgustingly happy endings. I have a WIP that has a fairly angsty beginning/middle (the shellshocked WWI veterans one which I swear to God I will finish), but even that will still have a happy ending (maybe a little bittersweet, but not angsty).
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Ummm all of them?? Like I am genuinely not sure that one rises above the others in terms of its happiness.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I never have! I'm grateful to be active in a fandom that is almost universally kind and supportive! Also I don't really write the kinds of pairings or subjects that might draw the ire of the general public, tbh, so that's probably part of it.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do! At the moment mostly M/M since I'm still very Dreamling obsessed, but also F/M. I don't generally get too kinky or monsterfuckery with it, though. Pretty much just regular-degular sexy times around here.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Not really! Nothing against them, just haven't gotten a spark from that kind of idea. Wait, I take that back. A while back I started a Clintasha fic set in the Station Eleven universe. I never finished it, because I feel like I need to re-read the book in order to do so, and I haven't done that yet. But I'd definitely like to.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope. I would love it if that happens someday! I've considered translating my own fic (I speak fluent German, so it's not outside the realm of possibility), but I'm not sure I'm up to that kind of project at the moment.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, I've had some fun brainstorming sessions and just back-and-forth reblogging with mutuals and trading ideas, but never actual co-writing. I'm open to the idea, but I would hesitate to inflict my writing process on anyone because it is extremely slow and piecemeal. I feel like a lot of co-writing relationships these days are developed on Discord, and try as I might I just cannot become an active Discord user.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
Oh, lordy. Genuinely not sure how to answer this. If you go back to like... my very first childhood OTP, it'd have to be something like Han/Leia. But I've never been active in online SW fandom and never written that ship. I mean, Dreamling is obviously a contender. I do also love Stucky and Clintasha, although I'm not really into the MCU these days. I've recently been jumping on the Steddie train, but it remains to be seen if that will last or not. Going back a little farther, I'll never not be a Spuffy shipper. And I'll admit to Nine/Rose and Ten/Rose, and (wince) some JohnLock tendencies. But I really don't think I can point to a single all-time fave!
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I don't think I have anything that's published (or at least begun publicly) that won't ever be finished – hope springs eternal – but I certainly have things I've started and abandoned in my personal WIP files. I've got several Dreamling-related bits and bobs that may or may not ever come to something, and maybe 2300 words of a Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries fic that will probably never see the light of day.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I have a good ear for dialogue, and I'd like to think I come up with some nice metaphors/similes and descriptive language.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Actually writing lmao. No seriously though, just sitting down and getting a first draft done is the most challenging part of the whole deal for me.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I think it's fine and can add some interesting color! Just make sure there's a way for people who don't speak the language (or who are using a screen reader) to understand what's being said.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
First I ever wrote was Star Wars Expanded Universe (now Star Wars Legends) fic in elementary school. First I posted on AO3 was a Lizzie Bennet Diaries 5+1 – which, looking at it for the first time in many years, is actually pretty okay! I did something kind of interesting with the form, I think. I think I must have had a fanfiction.com account at some point but I truly cannot remember if I ever posted anything there... I can't remember my username and I don't even think I have access to the email I used to sign up with.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Among the Stars We are Reborn, for sure. I'm really proud of what I accomplished with that story, and to be honest I wish it had gotten as much attention as some of my other fics.
this was fun, thank you! I know this tag game has been going around and I'm not sure who's done it already and who hasn't, but I'll tag @valeriianz @landwriter @teejaystumbles @tryan-a-bex @cuubism and @tj-dragonblade (and as always, no pressure, just for fun!)

Gents from left to right:
Carrington Tibburley, 46. Carrington owns a railroad, but also clearly has a side business laying pipe. Mustache rides will cost you a ticket, but they'll take you all the way to Grand Central Station. Also the one of two contestants who thought to wear socks, so... you're welcome.
The Colonel, 28. Don't let his mustacheless visage fool you. The Colonel has killed thirty seven men in the Philippines, and that was before America was even at war with Spain. Hobbies include bridge, macrame, and filibustering.
Karl Albrecht Folst, Ritter von Schmenk, 32 or possibly 437. Want a castle on the Rhine but you're afraid to invest in a decaying ruin? Then Karl is the man for you; he comes with his very own ancestral estate and a dark curse that will leave you wandering the moors, hair streaked grey as you shriek about the little boy with gold eyes who never left the tower.
Dr. Gordon Saverstock, 31. He's got a mustache longer than either the Kaiser or the Tsar. Trained at the Imperial Viennese Medical College with dual specialty in hacksaws and spirit rapping, he is wanted in Whitechapel for questioning.
Charles J. Van Elston III, of the Long Island Van Elstons, 32. A Yale man, could you want anything more? To ensure victory in the Harvard-Yale Regatta in , Charles had his skull replaced with Geronimo's. Remarkably, Geronimo lived for another three years. Trapped in a state of living death due to his side of the operation not going as planned, Charles is still the clear favorite in today's contest.
Theodore Francis Sanderwank, 25. Personally responsible for the Great Molasses Flood. Make of that what you will.

Startron's Website
"Startron is a procedurally generated space sandbox game written in C# using mainly codepage 437 for graphics. The concept of Startron was inspired by Dwarf Fortress, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Factorio, No Man's Sky, Rimworld & Starport: Galactic Empires."
Now THIS was an interesting find- A whole neocities page for an upcoming game!
I was initially drawn to it by the preview of the gallery, curious as to what sort of project was hidden here- And look at that! The gallery is full of gifs showcasing a game with one of the most unique graphics I've seen in quite some time.
Further exploring what this game is about...
"You can build things on planets, moons, gas giants and rocks but your mileage may vary - have a look at the guide in the space station database if you get stuck"
It appears to be a space station simulator with mining elements? Very much what I'd call a fortress-like. I'm not the biggest on space games, but I thought this was an interesting find, and I think that there certainly must be quite some people who will enjoy this!
It looks quite complicated, but I have the feeling that understanding this is about the equivalent of understanding what's happening in DF classic

Astronaut Sunita Williams Faces New Challenges in Extended Space Mission
NASA astronaut Sunita Williams, along with her colleague Butch Wilmore, is confronting significant challenges after their planned return from space was delayed. Initially set to return within a week of their June 5, 2024 launch aboard Boeing's Starliner, the astronauts may now face an extended stay until February 2024.
The change arises from potential issues with the Starliner, leading NASA to consider a return on SpaceX's Crew Dragon. This development could extend their mission from the intended eight days to over eight months, raising concerns about the impact on their health and well-being.
Radiation Exposure Concerns
The International Space Station (ISS) orbits approximately 400 kilometers above Earth, exposing astronauts to higher levels of cosmic radiation than on the ground. Radiation levels in space are up to 30 times higher than those on Earth. Over a week, astronauts encounter radiation equivalent to about one year’s worth on Earth, which can increase their risk of cancer and damage their immune system.
Effects of Microgravity
Extended exposure to microgravity presents additional challenges. Without Earth’s gravity, astronauts experience a loss of bone and muscle mass at a rate of about 1.5% per month, particularly affecting the lower spine, hips, and femurs. This can impair their physical performance and increase the risk of injuries. Additionally, the lack of gravity causes bodily fluids to shift upward, leading to facial puffiness and potential sensory changes.
Psychological Impact
The prolonged mission also poses psychological challenges. Being away from family for an extended period, especially in the isolation of space, can be mentally taxing. The astronauts' spacecraft has reported issues, including a helium leak and unpredictable thruster problems, which add to their stress.
Rescue Options and Hope
Despite these concerns, there are contingency plans. NASA can utilize SpaceX's Crew Dragon for a potential rescue and might seek assistance from the Russian space agency, Roscosmos, though this would involve complex technical and geopolitical negotiations.
Historically, long-duration space missions have been successfully managed. Russian cosmonaut Valeri Polyakov spent 437 consecutive days in space and demonstrated the feasibility of long-term space travel. Williams, orbiting Earth at 27,000 km/h, will experience time slightly slower than those on the ground due to relativistic effects. By the time of her return, she will be just 0.01 seconds younger than someone born at the same time on Earth.
As Williams and Wilmore continue their mission, both their physical resilience and psychological fortitude will be put to the test.

LED Vanity Lights have become popular for modern bathrooms and dressing areas due to their versatility, efficiency, and aesthetic appeal. Several LED vanity lights include strip, globe, and bar lights. Strip lights are often used for backlighting mirrors, providing a sleek and seamless look. Globe lights, typically arranged around the perimeter of a mirror, offer a classic Hollywood-style glow. Bar lights, mounted horizontally or vertically beside mirrors, deliver a clean and contemporary illumination.
These versatile and convenient lights are used in various applications, such as bathroom vanities, makeup stations, and dressing tables. They provide bright, even lighting ideal for grooming, makeup application, and other tasks requiring clear visibility. What's more, LED vanity lights can also be dimmable, allowing you to adjust the lighting levels to suit different needs and moods, putting you in control of your lighting experience.

How Long Can a Human Stay on the Space Station?
The current record for the longest continuous amount of time a human has spent in space is 437 days. This feat was lived out by Russian astronaut Valeri Polyakov in 1994-1995. However, most astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS) only stay for 6 to 12 months at a time. This is because long-term exposure to microgravity and radiation can have negative effects on the human body. Some…

it is hypothetically possible to build a train that runs between Boston and DC in under 3 hours without any high speed rail.
South Station (Boston) to Union Station (DC) is 437 miles. With an average speed of 146 mph, our hypothetical train could be just under the high speed rail threshold of 155 mph.
Both the Boston-NYC and NYC-DC trips could be accomplished in under 90 minutes at similar speeds.
However. The Acela currently takes EIGHT hours. And that’s on a good day, when it doesn’t have to stop in Wilmington for three hours (seriously, why is it always Wilmington?). That is an average speed of 55 mph, which is the top speed of a horse (sprinting and unencumbered, admittedly).
Anyway, why the HELL has our public transit not progressed from when people were literally riding horseback? This is the most travelled urban corridor in the country. Come on.
