Sirens blared through the streets of Seattle as the Station 19 fire engine screeched around the corner. In the middle of the loud and chaotic hustle and bustle, you, the young firefighter on this team, sat with your heart pounding and a knot in your stomach. You had already been on numerous missions in the last few months, but this mission was different and more difficult than anything you had experienced before.
You were the youngest on the team, the newcomer, fresh out of the fire academy. You felt the pressure on you every time you slipped into your protective gear and made your way to the scene. But today that pressure seemed unbearable.
Sean Beckett, an actual experienced firefighter and team leader, gave the commands. His tone was harsh, but something about him was off. You saw it in his appearance, his looks and felt it in your gut that something was wrong. But what you didn't realized was that you would end up in a situation that would spiral out of control.
As you entered the burning multi-story building, you were hit with instant heat and the smoke made it hard to see. Sean gave instructions, but they sounded wrong, confusing. He repeated them several times, slurring every other word and often took routes around instead of getting to the point. You hesitated, but you couldn't stop following the instructions. You had to follow them so as not to rob the team of security and you trusted the decades of experience and authority of your team leader. But Sean Beckett hadn't told you that the floor you were in was already in danger of collapsing before the fire. Even though he had well-known beforehand.
Suddenly, part of the ceiling on the third floor collapsed and the fire spread rapidly. You ducked tot he side and were torn apart from your team. In the midst of the chaos, you also briefly lost your bearings. When your vision was clear again and the mixture of smoke and dust had cleared, you noticed a wildly waving hand fighting for your attention in the corner, calling for help.
"Captain, the ceiling collapsed and I was separated from the others. I suffered no injuries but I did spot a civilian that I am heading towards now." you said, running to save the person. But as you got closer, you realized it was too late. The man was severely trapped under a larger piece of concrete and the fire had already spread onto the walls where he was buried next to. You tried desperately to remove the mass from him but it was hopeless - you would never get the concrete block off him on your own.
You heard muffled screams behind you. Maya, Jack and Andy looked for you, but you couldn't leave, you were now trapped by the fire that had spread around you. The flames drew closer and you knew you were in danger. "Beckett, I'm stuck. The flames have trapped me, I need help."
But there was no answer. Nothing. Only silences that came to you inexplicably. "Beckett! Are you there? I need help!" you shouted desperately, looking around in panic. You tried to face your team, screaming for their names, and at that moment the dust above you trickled before the other part of the ceiling collapsed on you.
Everything went black and for a moment you thought this was the end. But then you heard your team's voices once again, this time closer and felt the slow shaking of the ground. Steps. Before hands grabbed you. You were pulled from the rubble.
As you looked around, briefly sitting down on one of the blocks to take a deep breath, you saw the worried faces of your colleagues. Andy stood there, her face marred by smoke and ash. She was limping as she pulled you up to get you back on your feet. "Are you okay?" She asked and you nodded silently, unable to speak.
A sudden wave of anger and self-doubt bubbled up inside you. Sean hadn't answered, had put you in danger, almost killed you because he didn't give instructions. And now a person lay dead in the rubble. The thoughts tormented you and grew stronger as the mission ended. You didn't know how to deal with it. But you promised yourself that you would hold Sean accountable for yourself and for everyone else on the team who was put in danger by him.
The smell of smoke and burnt materials still lingered in your hair as the team returned to the station. The operation had been disastrous and the mood was depressed. You felt especially worn out after almost losing your own life and those of others due to false commands given by Sean Beckett or his failure to respond at all.
The team gathered in the locker room to remove equipment and discuss the day's events. You sat quietly, your gaze fixed on the floor, while the others engaged in tired conversation and licked their wounds.
Finally Sean Beckett came in, his expression serious and tense. He was aware that something between him and you needed to be resolved and as he approached you, he could already feel the cold breath of anger radiating from you. "Y/n, I think we need to have a talk. In my office."
You abruptly stood up from Andy's side where you had been helping tend to her knee, your gaze locked on Sean as you confronted him in front of everyone. "Do it in front of everyone and tell them that you ignored my calls and I almost died because of it!" you spat in frustration, putting your arms under your chest before continuing. "You wasted my damn time and almost killed me. Why are you here if you can't give clear instructions?"
The words echoed in the locker room and an oppressive silence fell over the team. All eyes turned to Sean, who seemed speechless for a moment, sipping from his plastic cup before going back to proving his strength, completely off track. "I don't know! Hit me if it makes you feel better!" his voice shook and your fists clenched with emotion and pure anger.
The team froze as the situation threatened to escalate. Suddenly and unpredictably, with a look of immense frustration and determination on your face, you lunged and punched him in the face. A thud filled the cabin, followed by a moment of silence and the crack of the cup, its contents spilling all over the resilient flooring. Then there were loud shouts of surprise from the team, some hands of Maya and Warren holding parts of your body to pull you back.
Sean staggered back, surprised by the unexpected attack but also by the force of emotions that erupted from you. You hadn't held back, but had given free rein to your desperation. "And if you want to denounce me to the union about it, I will personally go there and tell them about you drinking on shift. Others may shy away from it because of the fear, but certainly not me."
As the excitement slowly died down and Sean pulled away without further words, Sullivan squeezed past you while Victoria still held you close, afraid that you would walk after him and smack him again, and inspected the liquid on the floor more accurate.
His fingers dipped into the brown liquid before he put them to his nose, his facial expression contorting sharply. "Whiskey. How did you know?" He asked you immediately, his gaze serious while pride nestled in his eyes. "His statements were unclear. Shy of light. Pale skin. Shaking while driving. Not to mention the stench that emanated from him just as he spoke to me."
The team realized you didn't need a protective cover and could fight your own battles. Andy had hugged you tightly from behind and spoke with a quiet smile. "You have shown that you are not only the youngest, but also one of the bravest and strongest here. We are proud of you."
You were celebrated for your authenticity and strength while feeling exhausted and relieved by the support of the team. The incident had changed something - not only in the relationship between you and your captain, but also in your self-confidence and your position within the team. You were no longer a newcomer, but a full member.

Congratulation....Captain?
♡Chapter 1♡
Congratulations Herrera… you will be captain of Station 19! ……
2 weeks later
………-Engine Company 19, Ladder Company 19, Aid Car 19 und Emergency Medical Services Response Unit 19 in E Madison St.-
"GO! GO! GO! 19! We are now dealing with a 5th grade emergency call! Bishop and Sullivan Aid Car! Montgomery and Hughes you're driving E19! Warren and Ruiz EMS19! Probie you're coming with me! Move!" Andy yelled and everyone was ready.
You nod resolutely and when you arrive at the address you can see the immense smoke despite the darkness.
"Oh shit….", Andy looks shocked as a picture of devastation becomes clear.
"Damn….that's a crane that's tipped over!" Vic gets out and looks around.
"Captain, there's fire everywhere, we have to contain it!" said Travis, looking tense.
"Can't you see the debris everywhere? And there are still injured people everywhere. Station 88 is also on the scene…we definitely need more support here!" Sullivan right in the mood looking at Andy, who realises the burden of this distress call, trying to orientate herself.
"Ok guys! Bishop and Sullivan check on all the survivors and get them to safety!" Andy yells.
"Captain I can help with the injured!" Warren looks at her seriously and Andy nods after a few seconds of consideration. She organises the remaining people and always passes on the situation report to the battalion chief.
"Captain!" With a leap you knock Andy over and the next thing you hear is a massive noise, close beside you as a large section of the crane has melted due to the heat and almost toppled onto Andy. Completely distraught, Andy looks at you, realising that she could have died here and now, you both stand up and Andy's breathing quickens. A loud beeping prevents her from hearing you.
"Captain! hey captain come to you!" you shout at her and grab her by the shoulders "breathe!"
Her first call as captain and then such a big one. Andy looks you in the eye.
"That's good, just breathe," you try to reassure her.
"Hey Andy, is everything ok?" Sullivan comes in to check if everything is ok. She just looks at him briefly and focusses on you again, then nods and takes her walkie talkie. "All units, we need reinforcements here, now!" Back in reality, she gives all the information to chief Ross and then looks at you.
"Contain the fire with the others, but keep your distance!" You nod at Andy's words and set off straight away, but you can clearly feel Andy's gaze on your neck as you leave.
The mission lasted a whole 40 hours and on the way back to the station everyone was simply exhausted. Andy leant back, lost in thoughts, looking out of the window.
"hey….good job Captain," Maya tries to cheer her up, the mood is too depressed after everything that has happened, but Andy simply ignores her. Images of the mission flash before her face in an endless loop and she can't relax which is also not unnoticed by you.
Back at the station, everyone literally falls into bed, only Andy is still in the captain's office finalising the report. She pauses for a moment as everything comes back to her. As captain, she is responsible for everyone. Tears well up in her eyes and she catches her breath, completely exhausted, when Sullivan suddenly comes in at the same time.
"tough first mission captain", he comes to her and sits down at her table.
"tch…" she closes her eyes and smiles. "How did you get through your first day as captain?" She looks at him for help.
"I just pulled it off, Andy, you've worked long and hard for this position. You're a born leader," he takes her hand, causing her to look at it thoughtfully.
"I was almost flattened by a crane today," she pulls his hand away from Sullivan. "Y/N saved me…. a new recruit," she huffs, almost embarrassed.
You were just about to open the door, but you hear her last words and pause with your hand on the door handle.
"The situation was also confusing, it's the first time I've ever seen a case like this involving a crane. Everyone was overwhelmed. You did your best and for the new recruit, it was an immediate experience.", Sullivan stands up and smiles.
You knock and slowly open the door. "Please allow me to come in Captain!" Andy looks at you and lets her eyes wander demandingly to Robert, who understood and left the office.
"Shouldn't you be sleeping?" Andy looks at you questioningly.
"I wanted to ask if you're okay, Captain…" you look at her carefully, her look completely tired. She stands up and leans against her table with her hands in her pockets, her eyes on you. "yeah....Thanks for asking, but I should ask you that. For your first shift here, it's probably difficult to process at first.
"Well, I've already experienced a lot, but the fact that I have to save the captain on my first day here is really crazy," you smile, but the words hit Andy harder than expected. She closes her eyes and takes a sharp breath.
"good job, probie…but you should go sleep now", she smiled unexpected softly.
A tinge of red spreads across your cheeks, which she doesn't know came from her smile, not her praise. "ok…
good night, captain", you turn back to your bunk and lay down, looking at the ceiling of the room smiling.
A new morning after the team finally got some more sleep, you are the first one awake and already making breakfast at the Beanery. Travis was the first to arrive. "hey well…your effort yesterday wasn't bad, well done probie" a peaceful smile from him, he helps you making breakfast when Andy joins you.
“Good morning,” came Andy quietly and formally. Travis looks between the two of you and was about to say something when Vic joins him. "heeeey, good morning!", she dances as she takes coffee and then suddenly looks back and forth between Andy and you. A simple silence between both of you and Vic then looks at Travis, almost looking for help, who just shrugs his shoulders and also sips coffee.
You remain silent and put the last things for breakfast on the table, sit down and drink coffee.
“thanks, looks good,” Vic grabs something and stuffs it straight into her mouth while Andy sits down right across from you. You concentrate on your coffee and have to swallow hard, but you are immediately pulled out of your thoughts when the rest of the group joins you. Andy looks briefly into your eyes, but her gaze is completely electric, she just suddenly gets up and leaves the Beanery with her coffee and goes to her office.
"Um…ok?", Vic watches her go, followed by the others except you.
“Surely the call is still in her bones,” said Sullivan and then looks at you quietly, which you don’t notice.
Andy stands with her back against her door, closes it and looks into the room, completely lost in thoughts, with a questioning look. "I swear…." She jumps at the sudden knock on her door, turns around and opens it….
who is the person behind the door? Next chapter will show it, also containing more fluffy moments between Reader and Andy

BODYGUARD — VICTORIA HUGHES [Summer Writings]
Tumblr media
A/N: where is the fandom on this site? Nowhere to be found and only on Twitter! Easily became my fav fem character of the series and would have loved at least ONE MORE SEASON. Would definitely watch if they decided to do a crisis one spin off in the future. Anyways Vic deserves all the love she can get and it’s a special month so here I am—if you catch my drift 😉
SYNOPSIS: life in DC has taken some time getting used to but thanks to having Travis by Vic’s side she manages—although she’s sure she would have figured it out regardless! Vic has begun navigating Crisis One on her own and being in charge of a team leads to her spending the weekend with a member Vic’s not entirely sure likes her but decides to push her pride aside through persuasion of her best friend…later bringing on further rejection?
WARNINGS: curse word dropped + fem reader has southern roots + a few OC’s added just for the purpose of this mini story + mentions of injuries and procedures & Travis still being Travis…
<- read my previous summer anthology fic here.

~WASHINGTON, D.C.~
A few bruises, a very large angry mosquito bite, and the stench of a cigarette is the first thing Vic notices when she spots you looking out into the distance above the river. You’re not far from where your RV is parked along the growing grass and Vic snorts to herself, realizing that you weren’t bullshitting when you chatted about your ride/home down at the center. You were the first to show up before everyone else on the official start of crisis one (always on your electric scooter with a seat attached and a small wired basket in the back) tipping your, “bless your heart,” trucker hat in greeting along with a apple lollipop hanging in between your lips.
Granted the crisis one team would all receive their uniforms in due time but it certainly wasn’t what Hughes was expecting just based on your file and word of mouth from HR. Vic liked to say she handled herself well trying to work with this new team but there was something about the woman from Texas that liked to throw Vic for a loop.
“Just go over there and hint at the idea of spending some one on one time together,” Travis whispered to Vic who threw her hands up in the air in annoyance.
“We’re not even supposed to be down here! The event is back that way and I don’t even know why I let you talk me into taking a walk.”
Travis gave her a side eye, “hey, I stopped you from jamming a foam board over Duke’s head, you should be thanking me.”
Duke Conway was another member of Crisis One, a bit of a airhead surfer dude that came from a wealthy family that also helped fund this program. The event held vendors that showcased many programs over the state that didn’t mainly cater to mental health services but also just health in general. There were pamphlets, foods proven to uplift your health, demonstrations, games and even other various of activities for all sorts of ages! It was a beautiful scorching hot day out here at the recreation area that felt as big as Central Park! It also started off as a good day until Duke began blabbing to the others about how he wasn’t sure if he’d be able to purchase this new surf board on this salary (yes in DC!), purposely ignoring this elderly woman who wanted more information on crisis one.
That ticked Vic off since she always has a soft spot for the elderly, her personable trait coming into play as she assisted the woman, apologizing for Duke’s actions and answering most of her questions before Travis took over so Vic could tell Duke a thing or two. That of course led to Duke still being oblivious and Vic ready to flip on him since he’s done nothing but kick back and act as if this was some chill weekend outing.
Which led to Travis leaving the booth in Vic’s second or third in command—Travis always assumed it would be you and should be since you two seemed to work together best besides the few times you agree to disagree but instead it went to Duke’s cousin on his mother’s side, Arlington Wraith. Who was a bit of a classist snob but agreed with Vic on their cousin’s stupidity but felt they should be the only one that got to say it—despite Vic out ranking the both of them.
To cool off, Travis and Vic decided to take a walk and now Vic felt like maybe this wasn’t the best idea. The braided haired leader wasn’t sure where you ran off to since one minute you were there with the rest talking to a man that approached the vendor and then in the next you were yards away.
“Thanking you for what exactly?” Vic pulled her bottom lip into her mouth by her teeth, then used a finger to scratch at her scalp in confusion, “Trying to meddle with my love life?”
A freckled face Travis lolls his head around, “Vic it’s been how long since we’ve been in DC?”
Vic lifted her shoulders exasperated, “I dont care and I don’t need to constantly be in a relationship.”
“Who said anything about that?” Travis replied with a frown, “You two may just have sexual chemistry.”
Vic rolled her eyes at this, finding this statement to be so typical of her best friend.
“Again, been there and done that! And this isn’t even what this day is about. I’m supposed to be working and she should be too which means we should only have our heads in the game.”
Travis shrugged, “well maybe your head can be in her game.”
Vic twisted her face in disgust as Travis laughed to himself, “I can’t believe you just said that cringy garbage to me and if you want to be horny—save it until one of your late nights down at those clubs you spend twelve hours in, it’s like you think we’re in Europe or something.”
“Hey, I’m single and like to have fun.” Travis argued with his hands raised.
Vic mumbled, “Yeah that’s your problem.”
Travis fires back, “And your problem is not being laid enough.”
Vic pinched the space in between her brows, “Travis…I love you truly and i broke my celibacy a while ago and still chose to focus on my work even after that but we’re older now. Supposed to be smarter even! I’m pretty sure I’ve had this conversation with you before but I think I’m ready for more than just a lay again. I’ve worked so hard to be here and sure of myself and I want to share that along with having an endless love that lasts until I’m ready to kick the bucket.”
Travis softens his teasing as he reaches to grip Vic’s shoulders and then caressing them, “that’s sweet and I love that for you but how do you expect that to happen if you don’t take another leap of faith with someone that’s right in front of your face?”
“Again!” Vic yells, “Did the whole dating a co-worker and someone that works in the same field as me.”
Travis nods his head knowing of Vic’s dating history, “fair but you’re the one that thinks she doesn’t like you…and you could at least try to be friends since it’s actually nice having someone in your corner in the work place. I mean hey look at us! So go over there and just try.”
“You’re acting as if I’m some kid at the park that’s scared to go play with the other kids or something.”
“Well I think you are honestly,” Travis states making Vic raise her brows in disbelief, “it’s just you and I out here and I know someday will be the day where you’ll want to build a family—outside of me—with someone else and she might be the answer to that.”
Travis didn’t mean that in the sense of having children since he was sure that really wasn’t in Vic’s cards. She liked being the cool aunt to Maya and Carina’s kids and basically being the godmother to Pru, who she shared conversations with every other day but a family didn’t always have to mean producing children, it could be with the people you already surrounded yourself with.
“What exactly am I even going to say? It looks like she’s in deep thought along the horizon and I’m not sure I want to disrupt that.” Vic makes excuses now, molding her lips together as she awkwardly swayed her hands back and forth.
Travis gives her shoulders a shake, “you’re Vic Hughes…I’m sure you’ll manage,” before he circles around Vic to lightly shove her in the direction of a potential love interest, “I can confirm that they also identify as queer.”
Vic whipped around to face her best friend who grins at her, “how? What? That doesn’t automatically mean—
“Sure it doesn’t but I didn’t exactly get the chance to ask if you’re her type.”
“Uh, I’m glad you didn’t! You’re so embarrassing.”
“That’s my job. Now shoo!”
Vic glares at Travis who sends her a thumbs up in encouragement. Turning to face where you stood, it appears that you’re now facing in their direction, watching their exchange but Vic isn’t sure for how long. You pluck the cigarette forward, leaving Vic to pause and shake her head as she now charges forward to stomp it out.
“Seriously?” She holds her hands down at the stomped out lipstick covered cigarette.
Your hands goes to your hips as you await for Vic to get closer, “what?”
“Not only are you killing the environment but also your lungs and possibly other organs, you do realize that don’t you?”
“Sorry mom,” you respond while Vic rolls her eyes.
Vic fans the air before taking an inhale, “What’re you doing all the way out here instead of you know, helping back at the vendor?”
You blink, “it’s actually my day off but I pushed myself to be there since I’ve been parked out here for awhile.”
“What?” Vic looks off to the side in thought, “I don’t remember that on the schedule.”
You joke, “ah, forgot all about me as soon as Duke and Arlington showed up instead huh?”
“Yeah because they give me ulcers.”
You chuckle, “And what do I give you?”
“Hmm…Second-hand smoke?”
“That’s my first one in six months!”
Vic folds her arms, “You’re right, I remember you saying that you quit so that adds more to my disappointment.”
“Oh no, what will I ever do without the approval of Victoria Hughes?”
“Okay, I’m the only one that gets to be sarcastic here.” The brown eyed woman points, leadership kicking in just a bit.
“It was more snark but—
“Whatever! I’m here to ask about your well-being.”
You stare at Vic then, “You don’t need to do that.”
“I know I don’t but if everything doesn’t flow right then I need to check on the state of my team to make sure that it does and I can tell you’re not exactly thrilled about that but…you’re on my team.”
Watch this curveball, “Right…and you’re deflecting from what you really came over here to ask me.”
“Excuse me?”
You’re waving your hand about now, “You and Travis really know how to use your outside voices so…go on ask me already.”
Vic blinks rapidly and tightens her crossed arms as she studies your shell of a face with a clear of her throat, “I don’t even know what you’re taking about I—okay.” She exhaled before continuing, “Would you like to go on a date or hangout with me sometime…even though I’m not sure you even want to be bothered with me?”
“Wow you’re really selling it,” you snort, “what’s the matter, been out the streets that long?”
“Okay, never mind. Screw this.” Vic whips around, ready to walk away until you speak again.
“I would have said no anyway.”
Vic halts and turns back around, arms still crossed as she sways from one leg to the other as the sun burned the back of her bare arms, “What was that?”
You shake your head with your eyes closed, “And not because I don’t like you or find you unattractive because that would be a huge lie. I’d say no considering I also put in time off because I’m getting surgery.”
Vic frowns for another reason now and not just at the rejection although her mind is still spinning, “oh…is everything alright?”
“Cataract surgery…I know that’s usually an older person’s problem but I beat the odds.” You unconsciously rub at your blurry eye, “They said it’s a mixture of genetics but mainly from trauma—
Vic exhales, “from that call we received a month ago? You mean to tell me you’ve been dealing with this since then? You were cleared, I saw that paperwork.”
Vic remembered that day, witnessing you double over after a schizophrenic patient rammed a pen right into your eye. The patient was calm until you turned back around to assist with wheeling them out of the home. Everyone seemed to miss checking the pockets of her robe, where a pen with a frog top was pulled and aimed right at an off guard version of you.
It felt careless and stupid and most of the team knew this. Errors were meant to be made and it should have been one of the first things they checked after securing her but it was a small pen that held quite the damage.
You nod, “yeah guess I wasn’t as cured as they thought. It’s only in that eye so it’ll take less amount of time.”
“When is it?”
“Thursday.”
“And you’re working up until that time?”
“Yup.”
“Well send me the information so I can check up on you.” Vic holds out her phone while you take it with a curious stare.
“This a way to get my phone number?”
“I can get it anyways,” Vic honestly answers, “but i also want the details…you do have someone looking in on you afterwards right?”
You shrug, not wanting to get too personal, “I’ve got Uber and Limbo.”
“Uh…limbo?”
“My ferret.”
Vic says, “You have a ferret…of course you do, you live in a freaking RV!”
You laugh as you send a text to your own phone, listing the details in the message before handing it back over to grab your own phone to send a thumbs up emoji, “if this is your idea of a date you’re more of an oddball than I am.”
“This isn’t a date! It’s simply checking in.”
“After I told you that I’m going to be preparing myself to get my eye scrapped like nails on a chalkboard.”
“I did not need that mental image.” Vic winces.
“I know,” you smirk.
“Are you nervous about it?”
“Do I seem nervous?” You question.
Vic does that thing where she talks fast but in this circumstance was to hide the fact that she may or may not being caring in different ways about you, “Some people tend to hide their emotions better than others so I can’t exactly tell.”
You lift your shoulders, “not really afraid of a little surgery but I’m open to you holding my hand later…if that’s not crossing a line that is.”
“It is crossing many since I’m essentially the head of crisis one but I was also the one who approached you about going on a date or hang out.” Vic exhales in realization that this was basically another pattern that she ultimately wanted to avoid.
Yet here Vic was acting up in the summer time with the stamp of approval from a best friend who still hasn’t gotten their own love life together.
Funny stuff, really.
You reminded, “Which I sorta rejected.”
“Until a later date.” Vic added.
“Until a later date,” you echo meeting Vic’s eyes, “…for now do you want a shot of whiskey? I’ve got some of the best in my humble abode…and don’t worry I’ll bring it out to you to avoid any other problems.”
Vic emphasized, “We’re on the job…”
“You’re on the job.”
“And you’re about to get me into a world of trouble aren’t you?” Vic laughs with her head thrown back, somewhat scared but excited to jump into what’s to come.
There’s a glint in your eye at that as you step even closer to Vic now who feels like she should be breathing regularly but knows that she’s not, “you’ll learn to love it if you haven’t already, Victoria Hughes…so? What do you say?”
She inhales with a pretty smile, “I say sure, I’ll take a shot but just one. I don’t know much about how you Texans get down.”
“I’ll teach you.” You wink, which makes Vic’s belly flutter.
“I have no doubts about that.”
“Good.”
“Great.”
“…I’m gonna walk away now so you don’t kiss me.”
Vic scoffs but her face is tight with humor,“Please get over yourself.”
You walk backwards to your RV, “Never, it’s what makes you so fascinated with me.”
“Oh god…I didn’t realize your head was so abnormally big!”
“With the brains to match.”
Vic pushed her lips out not even mad at that comeback, “…Alright I’ll let you have that one.”
You hum with another wink, leaving Vic for a few moments while Vic peers down at her phone at the text message, adding a name to match the number. When she glances over her shoulder, Travis is nowhere to be found—which actually makes Vic relieved until the creaking of your door hits her ears.
Down the steps you go, making your way back to Vic with your baggy ripped shorts, holding two shots of brown. Vic carefully takes it and holds it out to the center, “what are we toasting to?”
“Better beginnings?”
Victoria nods with crinkles by her eyes, “Better beginnings.”
“Should I be cheesy and say, together?”
“Please don’t.” Vic groans, “I’ve had enough corny for today.”
“Noted.”
They clink their glasses as you tell, “make sure you make eye contact or it won’t seal the deal.”
“So you’re superstitious?” Vic makes a mental note of that.
“To a certain extent but it’s common courtesy.”
“Fine.” Vic comments with a sigh as they briefly break eye contact to place their glasses to their lips before holding each others stares again.
One winces while the other grins, “to better beginnings.”

When waiting for new episodes of 911 I started to watch Station 19 since they are on the same network and the move did good to weewoo show so far 🧑‍🚒🧑‍🚒. I have some thoughs and beside one point I'll try to not be too spoilery
There is for sure more Drama over at Station 19 so if it's your cup of tea you might enjoy it. I will stay 911 girlie but Station 19 while different than 911 still a good watch so far
It took me longer to warm up to characters here (some of them are a bit annoying to me 🙈) than in 911 or 911 Texas but much faster than in Chicago franchise which I watch in free time but never was interested in really exploring fandom presence so far. For Station 19 I have a itch to read some fics but I'm afraid of spoilers 🫣 which leads me to the next point
Please tell me there is some fandom presence. They killed off half of my favourite ship and I was not expecting that! Need some happy ending fics for Victoria Hughes/Lucas Ripley that won't spoil later seasons 💔🥺. Do they have ship name? I took over a week of break in watching after this episode.
They are a bit trigger happy with killing off characters I like (2 so far with 3rd probably soon due to terminal cancer🥹) and it makes me really scared for Bobby 😱
They had episode where they came to fight wildfires in LA! Crossovers anyone?
Clipboard Buck would have new clipboard buddy in clipboarding 📋 in Maya Bishop 😂 I would love to see that
Karen is here ❤️❤️❤️ She is ex-smokejumper that injured out and became psychologist that's helping other firefighters in Seattle FD. Karen episode is as far as I got for now
Anyone else started watching Stadion 19 recently? Thougts?

Am I the only one who wants a good Theo Ruiz x Travis Montgomery Fic? Like come on now, I can't be the only one who sees it. Can I?
~~~~
Maybe after Michael dies, Theo comes over to apologize- and as it happens canonly Travis kicks Theo out, but what if he comes back? Maybe a few weeks or a month later to give something of Michael's forgotten at the station. Travis takes it be begrudgingly. Theo tries to talk to Travis, he really does, but Travis wants none of it.
They get into an argument, Theo breaking down telling Travis he's not the only one who lost someone. They have a moment, a brief second of understanding, and maybe that's all they need. Maybe they kiss, maybe it's sex, maybe it's just sitting on the couch together cuddled up comforting each other because that's what they need right now... Who knows?
When it's done Travis tells Theo to leave. Understandably Theo collects himself and walks out the front door. They don't see each other again until S4E9. Travis doesn't mention it to Vic because a part of him feels ashamed, Theo on the other hand doesn't mention it because he knows it wasn't what people would think. They find a compromise for Vic's sake and theirs, moving on with their lives and enjoying each other in them again.
No? Just me, really? I mean, they don't have to be in love or anything, just two heartbroken people going through heartbreaking things... Still just me? Fine. Maybe I'll write my own fic since I can't seem to find any.
If anyone has any recs, please send them my way. Please & thank you. 🙏
Do you still do station 19 fics? If so could you do a Andy one where the team are over at her house for a get together and they find a police badge and they think it’s tanner’s, but it’s fem reader who Andy has seeing for a while, so the team keeps asking about it until one day they have a call and reader is there to help and gets hurt and Andy is worried until the team realizes that it wasn’t tanner’s badge but readers and later Andy introduces reader to her team.
Authors note: Sorry it's so long. I tried to shorten it but… I didn't succeed, haha.
ᕚ---ᕘ
The smell of freshly grilled meat was in the air, mixed with the sweet aroma of flowers, as the entire Station 19 team arrived in the backyard of Andy Herrera's house. The sun was still shining brightly in the sky, and a gentle breeze carried the laughter and conversation of the gathered friends through the air.
It was a rare event that they all came together without a fire or emergency calling them, and it was an opportunity to enjoy a free evening together, recover from the rigors of professional life, and enjoy the camaraderie that bound them so closely as firefighters.
The place was an inviting mix of functional comfort and personal style. Flower arrangements were everywhere, and the canopy was decorated with fairy lights that would later give off a warm and festive glow when the sun went down.
The team scattered into different groups. Vic and Maya were standing by the grill, laughing at a joke Dean had just told while he was turning the meat. Ben and Jack were playing with the kids. Others were curiously exploring the house.
Travis, known for his deep curiosity and love of small discoveries, had retreated into the house to get more beer for the whole crew. As he walked through the living room, he noticed something shiny lying between a book and a photo of Andy's father. He reached for it and pulled out a police badge from the side table by the sofa.
He picked it up and looked at it more closely, turning it over in the soft light of the lamp before running back outside with it. "Hey, guys, look!" he called out loudly, waving the badge in his hand as the door to the house closed behind him.
"What did you find there, Montgomery?" Maya asked curiously as she left her place at the grill and approached him. "Looks like a police badge," he replied with a wide grin and gradually the team members surrounded him. "Who do you think it belongs to?"
"Well, it's obvious," Vic said, pushing past the others to get a better look at the badge. "It must belong to Tanner. Our cop must have left his badge here after a sexy night."
A collective laugh broke out as they gathered around Travis, who was still holding the badge in his hand. Tanner, who had just finished his shift and had come over immediately, raised an eyebrow in surprise. "What do you have there?" he asked, stepping closer amusedly.
"Oh, nothing else," Victoria said mischievously and threw the badge at him. "Just your police badge. You must have left it with Andy last night." Tanner laughed and shook his head as he too looked at the badge and memorized the unknown service number. "That's not mine. My badge is on my belt where it belongs."
"Are you sure?" Ben teased with a broad grin. "Maybe you forgot it the last time you were here and this is just a replacement badge?"
"Oh, I know what's going on here," Maya said, turning to her best friend. "Andy, is there something going on with Tanner and you haven't told us about it?"
Andy, who had been following the conversation from the table, sipped her beer. Her eyes flashed with amusement, but she stayed in the background and tried to keep up her facade. She knew exactly who the badge belonged to, but she wouldn't reveal this secret. "Aren't you going to tell us the truth? And you, Tanner, what do you say in your defense?"
"Guys, I swear I have no idea where this thing comes from," Tanner said, laughing, and pushed his way through the crowd to avoid further questions.
"Maybe it belongs to Herrera herself," Jack suggested, walking behind the brunette. His hands rested on her shoulders, shaking her gently in her seat. "Maybe she's a superhero in her spare time."
"Yeah, exactly," Maya added. "Andy, the hero of Seattle who fights both fire and crime."
"Maybe the badge belongs to someone Andy knows better than we think," Dean added, and everyone started digging deeper into their thoughts. "You guys are really impossible," the brunette said, shaking her head as she started to walk to the grill, the meat long forgotten. "Tanner, explain to them that the badge isn't yours so we don't have to eat burnt meat here."
"I already told them!" Tanner answered loudly, throwing his arms in the air to express his frustration. "That's not my badge. Look, they're not the same identification marks!"
"Then the question remains," Warren said thoughtfully, looking back and forth between the badge on the table, Tanner, and Andy. "Who does it belong to then?"
Andy laughed heartily, but her gaze was impenetrable. She enjoyed the game, but didn't let it show. The secret of the police badge was too precious to reveal now. Especially when it was still so fresh. "You caught me," she finally said jokingly. "I'm secretly a superhero at night."
The team laughed and the topic was soon forgotten as the conversation moved on to other topics. But Andy couldn't help but think of the real story behind the brand.
It didn't belong to Tanner. It belonged to you, the woman Andy had been secretly dating for some time. You were a police officer and she had fallen in love with you without her team knowing. It wasn't out of shame or fear that she kept it a secret, but because she wanted to cement that relationship before sharing it with her family.
Throughout the evening, the atmosphere remained cheerful. They ate, drank and told stories. It was one of those rare moments when they felt like a family. A family bonded together by shared experiences and dangers. But she couldn't stop thinking of you anyway. What it would be like if you were here, joining the family. Secretly, she put the badge into her pocket and stroked it, a smile spreading across her face.
Later, as the sun was setting and the lights in the garden were coming on, Andy sat on the porch with a glass of wine while she listened to the others talking. The voices and laughter of her friends filled the air, but she kept thinking about you and the future you two might had together.
Jack sneaked up and sat next to her, handing her a fresh glass of her favorite wine. "You've been pretty mysterious today, Andy," he remarked with a smile and took a sip of his own beer. "Me? Mysterious?" she repeated innocently. "What are you talking about?"
"That police badge. You know more than you told us."
Andy smiled and looked up at the sky, which was slowly turning a darker blue. "Maybe, Jack. Maybe not. Some things just take time to come to light."
"You're really good at keeping us in suspense," he said, shaking his head with a big grin on his lips. "But I bet we'll find out sooner or later. With or without your help."
The evening ended comfortably, the team from Station 19 gradually saying goodbye, happy and satiated from a day full of fun and friendship. Andy watched her friends leave, feeling a deep gratitude for this second family that had been given to her.
ᕚ---ᕘ
Time had passed since Andy's barbecue, but the team at Station 19 didn't let up. They constantly teased Andy about the mysterious police badge that Travis had found. Whether during training, during breaks, or even on missions - jokes and curious questions kept cropping up.
"Andy, when are you finally going to confess to us that you're having a secret affair with Tanner?" Vic asked one morning, laughing, when they were all gathered in the firehouse kitchen. "Yes, Andy," Dean added. "We're all curious."
Andy rolled her eyes in annoyance and said nothing. She knew there was no point in continuing to deny or explain. The team would only calm down when they knew the truth.
That afternoon, while the team was enjoying a short break, the alarm suddenly sounded. An emergency call was made. "Police officer urgently needs support from the fire service and ambulance. Injured and in a dangerous area that is difficult to access."
"All hands on duty!" Andy Herrera shouted and fear immediately spread through her. She knew you were on duty, but hadn't heard from you for quite some time. At least her phone remained silent. "We have an injured police officer who urgently needs help. Get moving!!"
The team immediately jumped up and rushed to the emergency vehicles. The drive to the scene was tense, everyone knew that seconds could mean the difference between life and death. During the drive they heard further details over the radio. "The police officer is in an abandoned building that collapsed in a shootout after a pursuit. Serious injuries and no self-extrication are expected. Perpetrator may still be on site.“
When they arrived, they were met with a chaotic scene. The building had partially collapsed and dust was pouring out of various places. Police cars were parked around the building as police officers tried to get the situation under control.
"We have to get in and get them out," Andy said determinedly as she put on her gear. "No time to waste!"
Andy, Sullivan and Maya immediately made their way into the building while the rest of the team stayed outside to coordinate the situation and fight a small fire. The rubble and the falling dust made progress difficult, but they fought tirelessly through.
"There ahead!" Sullivan suddenly called out and pointed with his lamp to a spot where he saw a hand under broken wood.
Andy ran and knelt down, immediately starting to clear the rubble away. Finally, she spotted someone who was all too familiar to her - it was you, Andy's secret girlfriend. Unconscious and bleeding heavily. "Y/n!" she called out worriedly and immediately checked your vital signs. "We have to get her out of here and quickly!"
With combined forces, they carefully lifted the wood from your body and carried you outside. Ben and Vic were already waiting and immediately began first aid. Andy didn't leave your side, her concern for you evident in her physical tension.
"So that's your secret." said Travis, who was now also at the ambulance and watching the scene unfold in front of him. Andy looked up at him, stroking her upper arms to calm herself down and nodded. "Yes, that's y/n. We've been together for some time."
"Why didn't you tell us earlier?" asked Vic, who was trying to cover your open wounds with bandages. "It was complicated," explained Andy, looking down at you. "I wanted to be sure that our relationship was strong enough before I told all you. And in our professions, it's not always easy to make something like that public."
Travis, Ben and Vic nodded understandingly and the others came and gathered together. "We understand," said Warren, drawing up a syringe that he flushed into your venous access. "But you should have known that we would support you no matter what."
"I know," she replied gratefully and a small smile formed on her lips. "And I'm glad you know now."
ᕚ---ᕘ
The days after your accident were hard for Andy. She tried to do her job as well as she could, but her thoughts kept returning to you. Every minute she couldn't be with you in the hospital felt like an eternity. Her worries and fears gnawed at her, and the entire team at Station 19 tried to be there for her as best they could.
The support of her colleagues was a great help, but Andy couldn't completely shake off her fears and worries. Every day, after her shift, she drove straight to the hospital to be with you. She spent hours by your bed, despite the tiredness, holding your hand and talking to you even when you were sleeping.
But today she had the day off after a night shift, and she was determined to visit you in the morning and spend the whole day with you. "Hey," you said, still weak, but with a big smile on your face. "How was your night?"
"It was fine," Andy replied, sitting down by your bed before gently running her hand through your tousled hair. "I was thinking of you. How are you feeling?"
"Better," you replied shortly, pulling her hand away from your head to kiss her palm and then place it in yours. "The doctors are just getting the paperwork ready for my discharge."
"That's great news," Andy said, squeezing your hand tightly. "I can't wait to have you home with me and nurse you back to full health."
A few hours passed, and you left the hospital with Andy. She had been expecting this day with mixed feelings - joy that you were allowed to go home, and nervousness because she wanted to officially inform her team about your relationship and take you to the station.
And so she had the whole team gather in the lounge that afternoon, despite her day off, and everyone was excited about Andy's announcement. Andy entered the room with you by her side, hand in hand, even though you were still a little weak, but with a smile on your lips.
"Hey guys," she began, her voice shaking slightly with excitement as she rocked on her feet. "I'd like to introduce you to someone. This is y/n, my girlfriend."
A surprised but happy expression spread across the faces of her colleagues. Vic stepped forward and gave Andy and you a warm hug. "We suspected it," she said, laughing. "But it's nice that you're finally telling us officially."
"Welcome to our small but weird family, y/n," Maya added, holding out her hand. "Thank you," you replied, taking her hand gratefully. "I'm glad to meet you all. Andy has said so many good things about you."
"Well, we're glad you're here and that you're feeling better, y/n." Sullivan said with a smile. "If you need anything, let us know."
The mood was relaxed and full of joy as the team officially welcomed you and Andy as a couple. The past few days had shown how strong the bond and support within the team was. Andy felt a deep gratitude for her friends and colleagues who had been there for her during this difficult time.
The evening passed in a whirlwind of conversations, laughter and time together. Andy could finally breathe a sigh of relief, her worries had disappeared to some extent, and she knew that she not only had you, but also a great family by her side.
No but seriously: Emmett bursting into tears and hunching over himself until Travis comforted him and dragged him closer; Emmett nestling his head in the crook of Trav's neck, and then scrambling to grasp the back of Trav's shirt; Emmett turning his head to breathe Trav in and then kissing his neck; the exchanged looks; Emmett flicking his eyes from Trav's lips to his eyes and then back down; Travis doing the same; the kissing, the yearning, the implied "I missed this, I missed you"; Travis kissing him, then turning away and hesitating because he KNEW he shouldn't but what they had is still there, still hovering over them and so he dives back in, I'M GOING FERAL. Congratulation... Captain?
Andy x Fem!Reader
AN: next chapter will contain smut
Chapter 3
"19!Line up in the barn!" A strict voice calls. The team lines up, all in a row, so that everyone is facing each other and Andy walks imposingly through the centre of the row. "We currently hold the record for speed and thoroughness! We want to keep it that way." She walks slowly past each individual, checking their equipment, state of health and attitude. Jack watches the scene from above without anyone noticing and smiles. He is almost healthy again for work after falling on the ground.
Andy walks past you, stops for a moment and looks you in the eye.
"Excelente como siempre". (Excellent as always) You immediately look down at the floor and Andy moves on. "90 minute workout, now! 19!" Andy shouts.
"19!!!" Everyone joins in and gets to work.
Andy also trains, going through the ranks to make sure everyone reaches their full potential.
"Looks good" She comes over to you and smiles. Fancy a round of training together?"
"sure" Andy lies down and you support her knees "if you can do 30 without hesitation I'll buy you a drink in Joe's bar" You grin confidently, but you don't miss Andy's raised eyebrows. She starts right away, looking deep into your eyes, which makes your cheeks unconsciously glisten red.
After 25, she continues, but has to pant a lot more.
"I hope you can handle a lot," Andy stands up with a broad grin, discreetly out of breath and drinks some of her water.
"30…not bad" you smile as you unconsciously look at her for a long time then go into the changing room to change and take a shower. As you stand in the shower, Andy stops in front of the closed door, already showered and with her back to the door, looking up thoughtfully as she is distracted by Vic. "Is Y/N doing well? Is she fit?"
Andy goes to her locker and changes. "Yes, She's fine." As soon as everyone had finished, the first call came. You go into Car L19 together with Andy.
"so what exactly did the woman mean? A cat rummaging through her garbage in her garden?" You look outside in amusement and stifle a laugh.
"Well, maybe it's a wolf in sheep's clothing." You both have to laugh and when you arrive, the woman is already standing in front of the house.
"Dios mío, está en el jardn e incluso tiene bebés. Hay que llevarlos al refugio de animales". ("Oh my goodness, she's in the garden and even has babies. They need to be taken to the shelter!)
"ok ok, nos ocuparemos de ello" (ok ok, we'll take care of it)," Andy tries to reassure her and looks into the garden. "Fetch the cage, she says she even has kittens." You try not to let on and nod, get the cage and you both go into the garden.
"dónde se supone que está exactamente?" (where exactly is she supposed to be?) Andy asks and the woman points to some undergrowth behind the composter. As Andy approaches it, she makes a huge leap backwards, when suddenly the supposed "cat" hisses at Andy. She scrambles backwards on her butt to get some distance. You look at her in complete irritation and try to understand what is happening.
"that's…a…a…raccoon! Un condenado mapache! (damn racoon)… A fucking full-grown raccoon!" Andy freaks out completely and tries to get her breathing under control. You approach him and put the cage down. "Well, you're a sweet mama." You grab the raccoon and her kids and put them in the cage.
The two of you on the way back, absolute dead silence interrupted by your sudden laughter. "A raccoon?" Andy can't help but grin and join in with your laughter. "yup…raccoons…" Andy looks at you and can't take her eyes off you, but she notices and stops, her expression more serious, and looks out the window as she whispers. "Tu risa suena tan dulce" (your laugh sounds so sweet)
Your laughter becomes softer and you swallow, finnaly ariving at the barn.
"I'll finish the protocol then…" Andy was just about to leave when you stopped her. "Friday…we're both free. Don't you want to go for a drink?" You look at her expectantly, Andy smiles and turns around "sure" She wanted to leave when Jack suddenly comes over. “What nice ladys do we have here?” He looks at you charmingly but you just look surprised.
"well settled?" he asks you
"um…yeah, Jack right?" Andy watches slightly annoyed. "I heard you like to drink, would you like to go out with me?" He grins and before you can say anything, Andy steps in. "Ok Jack, that's enough for now, you're still on sick leave, go home!" You don't even get to say anything. "That's good Captain, it suits you Andy." He winks at her, Andy goes into her office and Jack cheekily follows her. "um…ok?" your look completely confused.
When he gets to the office, Andy is frustrated and starts to write the protocol when Jack just walks in. "Andy you've been through this before, you know the rules!" Jack tries to talk to her. "I don't know what you're talking about." Andy doesn't look at him and writes on the paper.
"If you start a relationship with her it will not only affect you but especially Y/N." Jack continues.
“Do you think I don’t know that!?” Andy throws her pen down on the page and places her hands on her forehead. "god, I don't know what's going on either….I'm done…I didn't want a relationship for…the rest of my life" a hint of seriousness can be heard. "I…I don't want this, I won't allow it. We'll just go drinking and I'll lock my feelings in the basement…" she says ironically and sits down again after walking back and forth in the room several times.
"This won't work in the long run and you know that…your feelings will eat you up…until you…have the feeling…" he comes too close and whispers in Andy's ear "that you won't be without her, for a second longer…You will touch her or feel her lips…" However, he provokes her and Andy pushes him away. "Get out Jack…go rest until you can get back to work!"
Jack leaves the office all confident while Andy kicks her desk. "Damn…"
In the evening when everyone is at the Beanery to eat, you stand at the fridge to get some orange juice. Andy looks at you but tries to avoid your gaze.
Tumblr media
"Is everything ok Captain?" you look at her worriedly and Andy tries to act calm. “You can talk if you want,” you whisper.
"Oh, preferiría besarte de nuevo…" (Oh I'd much rather kiss you again) Robert looks at Andy in surprise.
“Qué estás esperando, hazlo?” (What are you waiting for? Go ahead) suddenly all eyes are on you including Andy's. "woow Y/N you speak Spanish? Nice to know that too" Vic jokes. “Then let’s share, what’s it about?” Travis leans with a big goofy smile forward on the kitchen island, as Andy stares at you in disbelief, with the conscience that you must have understood everything else she said too.
You were about to continue in Spanish but Andy stops you because you don't know that Robert also understands Spanish. "well…..ok I'll go to the office and take care of some documents." She goes into the office completely distraught and you call after her.
“Still writing at this time?” Warren looks irritated and Travis shrugs his shoulders. "That's what it's like when you're captain," said Vic, sipping her tea.
“You should go after her and sort this out,” Robert said quietly as he walks past you. You look strained and finally go to her, without knocking you go into the office. "Andy we need to talk…"
"Why does everyone want to talk to me today?" Andy doesn't look at you.
"Because maybe you're the captain?" you smile and approach the table. "Andy, I don't know what that is between us but you can't tell me that you don't feel anything for me…"
"I'm a captain and you're a recruit, weren't you paying attention in the academy?" she says sarcastically. "You remember the kiss…" you are silent for a moment. "There was something before, I-" Andy suddenly stands up and slams her hands on the table to support herself. "It will never be anything…the rules forbid it and I will not jeopardize my or your rank!" Andy's words sound sad and frustrated. "I'm not interested in a higher rank… I just want to try out what's behind it. Nobody has to know…" you explain.
"tch……" Andy snorts.
"So you're telling me you don't feel anything for me?" You come closer to her, grab her hand and place it on your chest, directly on your heart. "I..I…" Andy's breathing quickens, lost in the feelings she takes a big step back, against the wall and looks at the floor, the blush on her face. "You have no idea how frustrating it is, it repeats again and it wasn't planned at all!" she looks at you desperately. "Then don't resist it…I want it too…" you get closer and closer to her and are directly in front of her.
"Andy….." you whisper to her and feel Andy's way too fast breathing on your lips as she suddenly turns you around and pins you against the wall. The tension is almost unbearable and makes it difficult not to give in to all the sweet and tense feelings. "That…that's not gonna happen…" She lets both arms fall to the side of you and looks at the floor. "go…"
You hang your head in sadness and disappointment, but then look at her seriously. "I don't believe you…" with these words you walk out of the office.
It's Friday and you haven't forgotten the date with Andy, although you haven't talked about it anymore. Hoping that she'll show up, you order a beer. The doorbell rings and Andy shows up with Vic and Travis. They walk forward to you and Travis and Vic greet you.
“heeeey Y/N heard you’re spending us some beer today?” Vic pats you on the back and laughs happily. They order beer and you look at Andy who only gives you a quick glance.
"well then! cheers!" Travis holds up his beer and you all toast. The evening is quiet and fun when suddenly Vic and Travis get a call to move out. "Well then guys…I don't even have 2 beers…it's a shame"Travis said. They break away and only you and Andy stay behind. She takes a sip from the bottle, now the 4th, and then looks at you without saying anything. Your gaze doesn't leave hers and your heart literally jumps out of your chest. "say…….in your head I'm already lying naked in your bed and we're doing it all night." Andy smiles and takes a last sip from her bottle, puts money on the counter, grabs your hand and pulls you out of Joe's Bar.
