Sirens blared through the streets of Seattle as the Station 19 fire engine screeched around the corner. In the middle of the loud and chaotic hustle and bustle, you, the young firefighter on this team, sat with your heart pounding and a knot in your stomach. You had already been on numerous missions in the last few months, but this mission was different and more difficult than anything you had experienced before.
You were the youngest on the team, the newcomer, fresh out of the fire academy. You felt the pressure on you every time you slipped into your protective gear and made your way to the scene. But today that pressure seemed unbearable.
Sean Beckett, an actual experienced firefighter and team leader, gave the commands. His tone was harsh, but something about him was off. You saw it in his appearance, his looks and felt it in your gut that something was wrong. But what you didn't realized was that you would end up in a situation that would spiral out of control.
As you entered the burning multi-story building, you were hit with instant heat and the smoke made it hard to see. Sean gave instructions, but they sounded wrong, confusing. He repeated them several times, slurring every other word and often took routes around instead of getting to the point. You hesitated, but you couldn't stop following the instructions. You had to follow them so as not to rob the team of security and you trusted the decades of experience and authority of your team leader. But Sean Beckett hadn't told you that the floor you were in was already in danger of collapsing before the fire. Even though he had well-known beforehand.
Suddenly, part of the ceiling on the third floor collapsed and the fire spread rapidly. You ducked tot he side and were torn apart from your team. In the midst of the chaos, you also briefly lost your bearings. When your vision was clear again and the mixture of smoke and dust had cleared, you noticed a wildly waving hand fighting for your attention in the corner, calling for help.
"Captain, the ceiling collapsed and I was separated from the others. I suffered no injuries but I did spot a civilian that I am heading towards now." you said, running to save the person. But as you got closer, you realized it was too late. The man was severely trapped under a larger piece of concrete and the fire had already spread onto the walls where he was buried next to. You tried desperately to remove the mass from him but it was hopeless - you would never get the concrete block off him on your own.
You heard muffled screams behind you. Maya, Jack and Andy looked for you, but you couldn't leave, you were now trapped by the fire that had spread around you. The flames drew closer and you knew you were in danger. "Beckett, I'm stuck. The flames have trapped me, I need help."
But there was no answer. Nothing. Only silences that came to you inexplicably. "Beckett! Are you there? I need help!" you shouted desperately, looking around in panic. You tried to face your team, screaming for their names, and at that moment the dust above you trickled before the other part of the ceiling collapsed on you.
Everything went black and for a moment you thought this was the end. But then you heard your team's voices once again, this time closer and felt the slow shaking of the ground. Steps. Before hands grabbed you. You were pulled from the rubble.
As you looked around, briefly sitting down on one of the blocks to take a deep breath, you saw the worried faces of your colleagues. Andy stood there, her face marred by smoke and ash. She was limping as she pulled you up to get you back on your feet. "Are you okay?" She asked and you nodded silently, unable to speak.
A sudden wave of anger and self-doubt bubbled up inside you. Sean hadn't answered, had put you in danger, almost killed you because he didn't give instructions. And now a person lay dead in the rubble. The thoughts tormented you and grew stronger as the mission ended. You didn't know how to deal with it. But you promised yourself that you would hold Sean accountable for yourself and for everyone else on the team who was put in danger by him.
The smell of smoke and burnt materials still lingered in your hair as the team returned to the station. The operation had been disastrous and the mood was depressed. You felt especially worn out after almost losing your own life and those of others due to false commands given by Sean Beckett or his failure to respond at all.
The team gathered in the locker room to remove equipment and discuss the day's events. You sat quietly, your gaze fixed on the floor, while the others engaged in tired conversation and licked their wounds.
Finally Sean Beckett came in, his expression serious and tense. He was aware that something between him and you needed to be resolved and as he approached you, he could already feel the cold breath of anger radiating from you. "Y/n, I think we need to have a talk. In my office."
You abruptly stood up from Andy's side where you had been helping tend to her knee, your gaze locked on Sean as you confronted him in front of everyone. "Do it in front of everyone and tell them that you ignored my calls and I almost died because of it!" you spat in frustration, putting your arms under your chest before continuing. "You wasted my damn time and almost killed me. Why are you here if you can't give clear instructions?"
The words echoed in the locker room and an oppressive silence fell over the team. All eyes turned to Sean, who seemed speechless for a moment, sipping from his plastic cup before going back to proving his strength, completely off track. "I don't know! Hit me if it makes you feel better!" his voice shook and your fists clenched with emotion and pure anger.
The team froze as the situation threatened to escalate. Suddenly and unpredictably, with a look of immense frustration and determination on your face, you lunged and punched him in the face. A thud filled the cabin, followed by a moment of silence and the crack of the cup, its contents spilling all over the resilient flooring. Then there were loud shouts of surprise from the team, some hands of Maya and Warren holding parts of your body to pull you back.
Sean staggered back, surprised by the unexpected attack but also by the force of emotions that erupted from you. You hadn't held back, but had given free rein to your desperation. "And if you want to denounce me to the union about it, I will personally go there and tell them about you drinking on shift. Others may shy away from it because of the fear, but certainly not me."
As the excitement slowly died down and Sean pulled away without further words, Sullivan squeezed past you while Victoria still held you close, afraid that you would walk after him and smack him again, and inspected the liquid on the floor more accurate.
His fingers dipped into the brown liquid before he put them to his nose, his facial expression contorting sharply. "Whiskey. How did you know?" He asked you immediately, his gaze serious while pride nestled in his eyes. "His statements were unclear. Shy of light. Pale skin. Shaking while driving. Not to mention the stench that emanated from him just as he spoke to me."
The team realized you didn't need a protective cover and could fight your own battles. Andy had hugged you tightly from behind and spoke with a quiet smile. "You have shown that you are not only the youngest, but also one of the bravest and strongest here. We are proud of you."
You were celebrated for your authenticity and strength while feeling exhausted and relieved by the support of the team. The incident had changed something - not only in the relationship between you and your captain, but also in your self-confidence and your position within the team. You were no longer a newcomer, but a full member.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Requested by anon: What would being carina delucas sister and working at the hospital while dating Andy Herrera include?
Lots of spontaneous adventures, from late-night fire calls to early morning hikes
Beneath her tough exterior, Andy has a kind and compassionate heart. She'd cherish quiet moments together, sharing laughter and dreams about the future with you
Andy would love you fiercely and unconditionally, always putting your needs before her own
Carina's always worrying about your safety and offering unsolicited advice
She even tried to set you up with one of her colleagues before you told her to stop
Family gatherings would be a mix of heartwarming moments and heated debates. You'd need to be prepared for anything, from a surprise medical diagnosis to a spontaneous dance-off
Working at the same hospital as Carina would mean navigating the complex dynamics of a high-pressure environment with long hours and the occasional medical emergency
Both you and Andy are each other's rock, offering support and encouragement during both the good times and the bad
Ordering takeout every other night and talking about everything and nothing with Andy
Usually waking up to the sound of the alarm blaring and Andy rushes out the door, leaving you a quick kiss and a promise to call later

Secret relationship with Andy Herrera. 5 times you almost get caught, and the one time you do? Please? I love Andy so much!!
yesss! i love andy soooo much too. with a shy reader because why not?
eight months
1.
When the two of you first started dating you were always in the kitchen for some reason. You’d cook each other breakfast, as well as enough for the rest of the team when they came in so it didn’t look too suspicious.
The two of you would both come in early. It was something the both of you had a habit of doing even before you started dating.
It was actually how you became so close and when you had your first kiss.
Once you started dating, the two of you would come into the kitchen and hangout. You’d talk and make breakfast, just spend time together.
But the first time you almost got caught the two of you were eating together at the table.
“This is really good Andy,” You licked your lips, pulling in any left over cinnamon from the french toast Andy had just made.
“Thanks,” Andy smiled.
She’d been done eating minutes before you, and was watching you eat at this point. Not in a creepy way, but in an admirable way. Like she couldn’t believe you were hers.
“I made it because I know it’s your favorite,” The firefighter rested her elbow on the table with her chin placed in the palm of her hand.
Your lips curved into a half smile as you finished your last bite of breakfast.
You turned yourself in your seat—you’d always been clingy towards people. It was how you showed your love, even though you were shy—and you pulled Andy’s chair closer.
“Alright,” Andy chuckled as you pulled on the chair. “before you get too comfortable let’s at least take care of these first.”
Andy took both of your plates, rinsed them off in the sink for whoever was on dish duty tonight, and made her way back to you.
“Now, you can be as clingy as you want,” Andy moved impossibly closer to you.
You placed your feet on the rungs of the chair Andy was sitting in. It was the only way closer to her without actually sitting on top of her, and that was another risk all in itself— but it was one Andy was willing to take.
“Come up here,” Andy jerked her head and you became shy all of the sudden. You dipped your head into her neck and that made Andy shake her head with a chuckle. “Don’t be shy now, sweetheart.”
She lifts your chin and pulls you in for a soft kiss, pulling away after a second to look into your eyes.
Andy may have pulled you in for more if the sound of laughter and footsteps coming down the hall into the kitchen hadn’t made way.
Andy gives you a kiss on the cheek as you scramble off her lap and onto your own chair. You scoot the chair over a few feet to make it look like two friends just had breakfast.
“Hey.. guys?” Victoria looked at you with a frown and you really thought you’d gotten caught right then and there. “Aw man, you guys already ate? Again?”
“I swear,” Maya shook her head. “You guys get here at like four am. And I thought I was an overachiever.”
“What can I say?” You put your hands up, trying not to sound suspicious.
2.
On the next occasion, a few months later, you and Andy were laying in a bed together in one of the rooms at the station.
For some ungodly reason, the two of you were on your monthly 48 hour shift, and you were catching some sleep before the next call.
Well, you weren’t actually sleeping, as much as cuddling and talking before dozing off for the night.
“You know, maybe we could go on a real date soon,” Andy suggested. “There’s an amazing restaurant I want to take you to.”
“But?” You sensed something.
“But we might run into someone we know,” Andy sighed.
“Maybe we should just tell them,” You suggested back, tilting your head towards Andy.
“Not yet,” Andy shook her head slightly. “I like having you all to myself right now.”
“I like being all yours but.. I have to admit it would be nice to go out with you,” You smiled shyly.
“Well, we can just risk it,” Andy smirked excitedly. “Yes. It’s settled. We’ll go after our shift.”
“You didn’t even ask if I wanted to go!” You threw your head back. “And I will at least need to sleep a few hours after our shift before I go anywhere. And how nice is this place?”
Andy was about to reply when the door swung open and you launched yourself out of the bed.
Travis stumbled in half asleep, “Why are you on the floor?”
“Um…” You tried to think of a good reason but then Travis stumbled into a bed on the other side of the room.
“It’s not the weirdest thing I’ve seen tonight,” Travis mumbled, already half asleep.
“That’s was close,” Andy said once she was sure Travis was asleep.
“Yes. It was,” You lift yourself up off the floor and lay in one of the other beds. “That hurt.”
You laughed along with your girlfriend, wishing Travis hadn’t walked in. It was probably for the better, because if it had been a few more minutes the two of you probably would have fallen asleep in the bed together, and that would’ve risen more concerns in itself.
“We can take a nap before we go,” Andy said after a minute of silence. “At our place, and I’ll help you pick something to wear. But if you don’t want to go, we can stay in—“
“No. I would never turn down seeing you in a dress,” You joked. “And I’d go just about anywhere with you, so..”
“Is that so?”
“Yeah,” You said as you stared at the ceiling, Travis’ snores lulling you to sleep.
3.
And so Andy did take you out alright.
You were living together by now, and were still, somehow, a secret to the station. She picked out a beautiful dress for you—of your favorite color—and a light green dress for herself. Slivers of skin peeking out of the dress at her sides.
She took you out to a nice Italian restaurant on the other side of the city; hopes of not running into anyone there.
It’d been going pretty well for the moment.
Andy had her elbow on the table again, her chin resting in the palm of her hand while she lovingly gazed at you. It was something she’d come to do around you, and you got giddy at it every time.
“Thank you for taking me out,” You tilt your head to the side. “But I am helping you pay.”
Andy rolls her eyes, “I figured as much.”
You chuckle.
The food came quickly after that, and you were just about to order dessert when you saw Carina and Maya make their way in.
You clench your jaw and said, “Maya and Carina are here. We should probably pay and get out of here before they see us.”
“I already paid,” Andy looks away from you guiltily as she takes a sip of her wine.
“Andrea!” You smack her arm.
“What?” Andy shrugs. “I was taking you out. Not the other way around. It’s only fair if I pay.”
“But— but—“ You sputter as Andy stands up and takes your hand, leading the both of you out of the restaurant. “You were just going to let me think I helped you pay?”
“Maybe,” Andy surveys your face, which gets redder but the second when Andy backs you up against the passenger side door. “Or maybe..”
Your breath hitches as Andy pushes your hair back and lowers her lips to your ear, “You can just pay for desert.”
Your cheeks are hot, and Andy smirks at your newfound weakness.
She opens the door for you and waits for you to sit in the seat before shutting the door and making her way to the drivers side.
4.
For your birthday you decided you wanted to just have a little get together and your—and Andy’s (although no one knew it was hers too)—apartment.
You were never one for big parties, and you didn’t really have any friends outside of the station. So you decided this would fine.
Everyone decided they’d all just bring something, that way there was plenty to eat.
The day before during dinner Maya, your best friend, had brought it up. You’d invited them to come over weeks in advance, because you knew how the firefighters liked to make plans.
You told them you were just going to order takeout and you could watch a few movies, maybe drink some beer.
But Victoria didn’t like that one bit. She complained and decided she’d bring a cake—whether it was one she made herself, or not, you’d never know—and everyone agreed with her, deciding on what they’d bring or make.
Andy ‘arrived’ first. She’d brought some fruit and vegetables, mostly just because she knew no one else would and that you’d be eating random unhealthy food for the rest of the night, so she figured it wouldn’t hurt if you had some healthy food to pick at.
“Hey gorgeous,” You beamed as she placed the trays on the counter in your kitchen.
“Gorgeous?” Andy smiles at the new nickname. “I should be calling you gorgeous. Look at you.”
You tip your chin downward, growing slightly shy at Andy’s words.
“I’m serious! Look at you,” Andy grabbed both your hands and spun you around, dipping you down as if the two of you had been dancing.
The hand Andy had on your back, holding you up, soothingly caresses your hip as she leans in for a searing hot kiss.
You moaned as Andy lifted you up while she bit your lip. She led you towards the couch, climbing on top of you.
Andy pulls down your shirt a few inches and leaves a mark on a patch of skin that is assured to be hidden by your shirt.
For once, you’re glad the front door to your apartment is located in the kitchen.
“We’re here,” Victoria sings from the kitchen, everyone filing in.
“Every time,” You shake your head, your hands resting on Andy’s hips.
“That’s not true,” Andy’s curly hair falling around her face. “Last night—“
You push her off your lap with a shy expression.
“Happy Birthday, beautiful.”
5.
It was nearing the ends of your shifts, and you and Andy planned to catch dinner and a movie afterward, so you decided to take a shower at the station— together.
Andy figured it would be safe because everyone else was heading out to the bar, and had asked if you or Andy wanted to come, but both of you denied.
Andy attacked your lips, her hands wrapping around the sides of your neck, her thumbs resting under your jawline to hold your head up.
You ran a hand through her hair while the other ran down her side.
“Mm,” You leaned your head back, your girlfriend’s assaults moving onto your neck. “We should get washed—“
“Shh,” Andy pressed her finger to your mouth.
“But—“
“My love,” Andy laughed. “We have time, I promise. We will make our movie—“
“Y/n?” Maya opened the door to the shower room. “Are you in here?”
You pushed Andy down and peek your head out of the shower, holding the curtain in place as not to flash yourself to Maya.
“What?” You asked a little rudely.
“Do you work tomorrow?” Maya asked with an antsy demeanor.
“No,” Your face softened.
Her wedding with Carina was coming up and you and Andy were both going to be her bridesmaids. You knew she was freaking out since it was so close.
“Well I need help finding something to wear and we still need to— to do a bunch of stuff—“ Maya paced the steamed up room.
“I got you, okay? Get me a list and me and whoever else is off tomorrow will take care of it. Okay?”
“Yeah, okay. Yeah,” Maya nodded. “You’re a lifesaver. Are you sure you don’t want to come tonight?”
“Yes! I am sure.”
+1
Maya and Carina’s wedding came faster than the two of you—you and Andy—could have noticed.
You’d been running around like a crazy person trying to figure out everything and anything for Maya, that way she wasn’t so stressed.
You made sure that the flowers, the catering, the guests, anything else imaginable, was in place for your best friends wedding.
The to-be-married couple requested that the two of you wore red dresses. Victoria and Ben were also told the bridesmaids dress code (Ben wore a red tie because Maya said she would probably call off the wedding if he showed up in a full red tux).
The four of you left your shifts early to help decorate, that way the two women could be calm and relaxed on the wedding day.
Once you’d all decorated, you headed home to get ready.
Andy wore a tighter fitting red dress that ended mid-thigh, with her curly hair framing her face, and it took your breath away when she revealed herself.
“Wow,” You looked her up and down.
“You don’t look so bad yourself,” Andy looked you up and down as well, and you felt yourself growing shy.
You were wearing a longer darker red dress. It had spaghetti straps and a slit up the side of the skirt.
Andy kissed your cheek, and it left a lipstick mark.
“Ugh, Andrea!” You moaned in complaint. “We need to go! You can’t do that!”
“I think I already did,” Andy laughed and licked her finger, moving towards you to rub the stain off your face but you backed up.
“Ew!” You put your hands out. “I’ll just wipe it off and redo my makeup on the side in the car. You’ll drive.”
“Yes, sweetheart,” Andy agreed, and the two of you were on your way.
When you got there, you and Andy helped Maya get ready while Victoria and Ben helped Carina.
Well, more Victoria than Ben. He was really just there as moral support. He was the only one at the station who was still currently married, so he was there to calm Carina’s nerves.
The wedding was about to start when Andy pulled you out into the hall, away from the crowd of people the women invited.
“You’re gonna smear your—“ You try to warn Andy before she placed her lips on yours, but she was too far gone. “lipstick.” You mumbled.
“I don’t care,” Andy lifted one of your thighs, your leg wrapping around her hip, the satin red material of your dress bunching around at your own hip.
“I do! You know we’re gonna— mm,” Andy smooshed her lips back onto yours, making your words go muffled.
“Shh,” Andy laughed once more. “You worry too much, my shy, shy girl.”
You duck your chin as always, and Andy lifted it to give you a few more kisses.
“Hey guys..” Maya lead the group of firefighters into the hall.
“We’re about to start— oh my!” Travis put his hand over his eyes.
Andy removed herself from you, dropping your leg to the ground when she does so.
“How long..” Ben asked awkwardly.
“Uh..” You coved your mouth, all of the sudden acting as if you didn’t know what was happening. “That’s an amazing question.. Andy?”
“Just like.. eight months,” Andy shrugged nonchalantly.
“Eight m— eight months?!” Victoria feigned hurt.
“How did you..?” Maya shook her head.
“We’re very good?” You asked.
“This is living proof that opposites attract,” Carina shrugged.
“Yeah, that is true..” Jack nodded. “Wait, so if you’ve been together eight months.. are you living together?”
The silence was deafeningly loud.
“How did we not see this?” Travis asked in a high pitched voice.
“Wait, now that I think about it, there were a lot of occasions..” Maya put her hands on her hips.
“Okay,” Andy put a hand out. “Let us fix ourselves up, and we can get this show on the road.”
Carina dramatically sighed, “How are we gonna put on a wedding after this?”
“Okay, babe, let’s go,” Maya rolled her eyes at her soon-to-be-wife. “Please don’t mess around in the bathroom. You have three minutes.”

Kristie & Her Firefighter (Ariana OG character)
The air smelled like roasted chestnuts and city streets—Kristie loved this time of year, the way the crispness of fall wrapped itself around everything like a warm scarf. She held Ariana’s hand tightly as they walked through downtown Seattle, both savoring a rare day off together. Ariana had been practically glued to Station 19 since she joined the crew a year ago, trading her cleats for turnout gear after retiring from soccer. Kristie couldn’t be prouder, even if she hated the late nights and early mornings that came with the job. Ariana was a hero, plain and simple.
“What are you thinking about?” Ariana asked, her voice low, carrying that calm confidence that had drawn Kristie to her in the first place.
“You,” Kristie admitted with a grin, bumping her hip against Ariana’s. “And how lucky I am.”
Ariana chuckled, squeezing Kristie’s hand. “I’m the lucky one.”
They turned a corner, and that’s when it hit them: the acrid smell of smoke, sharp and unmistakable. Kristie stopped in her tracks as Ariana’s head snapped toward the source. About a block away, a small house was engulfed in flames, the orange and red licking hungrily at the sky
“Oh my God,” Kristie gasped.
Ariana didn’t waste a second. “Call 911,” she said, her voice sharp and commanding. Her hand slipped out of Kristie’s as she started toward the house.
“Ariana, wait!” Kristie’s voice cracked, panic setting in. “You’re not on duty!”
But Ariana was already moving, her pace quickening as shouts erupted from the growing crowd of onlookers. A woman stood on the front lawn, screaming, her words fractured and frantic.
“My babies! Please! They’re still inside!”
Ariana froze mid-stride. Her breath hitched, her mind processing the weight of those words. Her feet moved before her brain could catch up, instincts and adrenaline taking over. She turned back to Kristie, her tone leaving no room for argument.
“Call 911. Tell them there are kids trapped inside.”
“Ariana, don’t!” Kristie yelled, her voice cracking as Ariana broke into a full sprint toward the inferno.
The heat was immediate, pressing against Ariana’s skin like a wall of fire even before she reached the doorway. Smoke billowed out, thick and black, stinging her eyes and clawing at her throat. She crouched low, instinctively pulling her hoodie up to cover her nose and mouth. The roar of the flames was deafening, drowning out everything but the erratic pounding of her heart.
“Hello? Is anyone in here?” she shouted, her voice hoarse and strained.
The muffled sound of crying cut through the crackling of wood. Ariana dropped lower, her hand skimming the floor as she followed the sound. She moved quickly but carefully, navigating through a haze of smoke and heat that seemed to cling to her like a second skin.
“In here!” a small, panicked voice called from somewhere in the back.
Ariana pushed forward, the heat intensifying with every step. Her breaths came in shallow gasps, the air thick with smoke and ash. She found them in the kitchen—a boy, maybe seven, and a little girl no older than three. They were huddled under a table, the boy shielding his sister with his body.
“It’s okay, I’m here,” Ariana said, her voice as calm as she could make it. She crouched down, extending her arms. “We’re going to get out of here, I promise. Can you walk?”
The boy nodded, clutching his sister tightly. Ariana didn’t hesitate. She scooped the little girl into her arms and grabbed the boy’s hand, leading them toward what should have been the front door. But when she turned the corner, her heart sank. Flames had engulfed the entryway, cutting off their exit.
“Damn it,” she muttered, scanning the room for another way out. The fire was spreading faster than she’d expected, the structure groaning under its own weight.
They were almost there when the beam gave way, crashing to the floor inches from where they stood. Ariana shielded the kids with her body, her heart pounding as she scrambled to her feet.
“Almost there,” she muttered, more to herself than to them.
...
Maya Bishop jumped out first, followed by Jack, Travis, and the rest of the crew. Kristie ran to Maya, desperation etched on her face.
“Ariana’s in there!” she yelled.
Maya’s face darkened. “Of course she is,” she muttered. “She can’t help herself.”
“She heard there were kids inside,” Kristie added, her voice trembling. “Please, get her out.”
Maya nodded, already strapping on her helmet. “We will.”
Inside, Ariana was backing toward a window, shielding the kids with her body as flames roared around them. She felt her strength flagging, the heat pressing in from all sides, when she heard the faint but unmistakable sound of her team’s voices.
“Ariana! Where are you?” Jack’s voice boomed through the chaos.
Outside, Maya and Jack breached the front door, the heat and smoke hitting them like a freight train. They moved quickly, scanning the house for signs of life. Jack spotted movement near the window and shouted to Maya.
“There! By the living room!”
Maya nodded, motioning for him to cover her as she moved toward the window. Through the thick smoke, she saw Ariana, clutching a little girl with one arm while guiding a boy with the other.
“Ariana!” Maya called, her voice muffled by her mask.
Ariana’s head snapped up, relief flooding her face. “I’ve got them!” she shouted back.
Jack smashed the window with the butt of his axe, clearing the way as Maya reached in to help. They got the kids out first, handing them off to Travis, who waited outside. Then Maya extended her hand to Ariana.
“Come on, let’s go!” Maya yelled.
Ariana hesitated for a split second, her legs trembling from exhaustion. But she grabbed Maya’s hand, letting herself be pulled through the window just as another beam collapsed behind her.
The flames roared behind them as Maya and Jack helped Ariana through the shattered living room window, their movements swift and methodical. Once outside, Ariana leaned forward, hands braced on her knees, coughing a few times but quickly straightening up. She brushed soot from her face, giving Maya a lopsided grin.
“Not bad for a retired athlete, huh?” Ariana quipped, her voice raspy but laced with humor. She turned to Kristie, who was already rushing toward her. “You see that? Still got it.”
Kristie didn’t bother with words. She threw her arms around Ariana, holding her tightly despite the soot and sweat. “You scared the hell out of me,” she whispered, her voice breaking.
Ariana patted her back, chuckling softly. “Come on, babe. I’ve done worse. You’re dating a firefighter, remember?”
Jack, standing nearby, shook his head with a small grin. “She’s been one of us for too long—she thinks this is normal.”
“Definitely normal,” Ariana said, cracking a crooked smile as she wiped her forehead, leaving a streak of soot across her face. “Save some kids, ruin my hoodie, get yelled at by my girlfriend—just a day off.”
Maya smirked but kept her eyes on Ariana, her sharp gaze catching the subtle tension in her posture. “Yeah, well, don’t think you’re out of the woods yet. You inhaled a lot of smoke in there. We’ll check you out back at the station.”
“I’m fine, Bishop,” Ariana said, waving her off. “Stop mothering me.”
But as she said it, she wavered slightly, just enough for Kristie to notice. Kristie stepped back, her brow furrowing as she looked at Ariana more closely.
“Ari, are you sure you’re okay?” Kristie asked, her voice tinged with concern.
“Yeah,” Ariana replied, though her smile faltered. She took a shaky breath and blinked rapidly, her vision swimming for a moment. “I just... need a minute.”
The words barely left her lips before her legs buckled. She stumbled forward, and Maya caught her, lowering her gently to the ground.
“Ariana!” Kristie’s voice cracked as she dropped to her knees beside her.
Jack was at Kristie’s side in an instant, gently pulling her back. “Kristie, give them space,” he said softly but firmly, his arm steadying her as she started to panic.
Maya crouched next to Ariana, her voice calm but commanding. “Ari, stay with me. Can you hear me? What’s going on?”
Ariana’s head lolled to the side, her breathing shallow and erratic. Her eyes fluttered open, unfocused, and she struggled to speak. “Just... tired,” she rasped.
“Her breathing’s too shallow,” Maya said, glancing over her shoulder. “Travis! Get me oxygen now!”
Travis sprinted to the truck, returning seconds later with a portable oxygen tank and mask. Maya placed the mask over Ariana’s face, adjusting it carefully.
“Come on, Ari, breathe,” Maya urged, her voice tight but steady. “Deep breaths. You can do this.”
Ariana’s hand twitched, as if she was trying to push the mask away, but her strength was fading. Maya pressed two fingers to her neck, her expression darkening as she checked her pulse.
“It’s fast, but weak,” Maya said. “She’s crashing.”
Kristie let out a strangled sob, and Jack tightened his hold on her, his voice soothing. “They’ve got her, Kristie. Maya knows what she’s doing.”
Kristie nodded, tears streaming down her face as she clutched Jack’s arm. “She was fine two minutes ago,” she whispered, her voice breaking. “She was joking with me.”
Maya’s voice cut through the chaos. “She’s compensating for something. We need to figure out what.” She leaned closer to Ariana, her tone softening. “Ari, listen to me. Did you hit your head? Do you feel any pain?”
Ariana blinked sluggishly, her lips moving under the mask. Maya leaned closer, straining to hear.
“...chest... hurts,” Ariana whispered, her words barely audible.
Maya’s jaw tightened. She looked up at Jack and Travis. “It might be smoke inhalation, but if she’s saying chest pain, we can’t rule out a cardiac issue. We need to move her now. We’re taking her ourselves. Jack, help me get her on the stretcher.”
Jack nodded, releasing Kristie and moving quickly to Maya’s side. Together, they lifted Ariana onto the stretcher, securing her as carefully as possible.
Kristie clung to Travis, her breathing ragged as she watched. “Is she going to be okay?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
“She’s tough,” Travis reassured her, though his own worry was evident. “She’ll pull through.”
As they loaded Ariana into the back of the truck, Maya turned to Kristie, her expression softening. “You’re coming with us. Get in.”
Kristie didn’t hesitate, climbing into the truck and taking Ariana’s hand. “I’m here,” she whispered, her tears falling freely. “I’m right here.”
Maya sat beside Ariana, her eyes locked on the monitor as they sped toward the hospital. Her hand rested lightly on Ariana’s arm, her voice steady as she spoke.
“Stay with us, Ari,” Maya murmured. “We’ve got you. Just hang on.”
The sirens wailed, the urgency of their mission echoing through the night.
The ambulance’s sirens wailed, drowning out the pounding of Kristie’s heart. She sat next to Ariana on the narrow bench, clutching her girlfriend’s hand as Maya worked efficiently beside her, her focus locked on the monitor displaying Ariana’s vitals.
“She’s still tachycardic,” Maya muttered, frowning at the screen. “Heart rate’s through the roof, and it’s irregular. Damn it.”
Kristie’s stomach twisted. “What does that mean? What’s wrong with her?”
Maya glanced at her, her expression professional but tinged with concern. “It’s likely from the smoke inhalation—carbon monoxide poisoning can cause arrhythmias. But until we run tests at the hospital, we can’t rule out other things, like if she hit her head or had some kind of cardiac event.”
Kristie’s grip tightened on Ariana’s hand, her knuckles white. Ariana stirred slightly, her eyes fluttering open for a moment before sliding shut again.
“Ari, hey,” Kristie said, her voice trembling. “Stay with me, babe. You’re scaring me.”
Ariana’s lips moved faintly under the oxygen mask, but no sound came out. Kristie looked at Maya, her panic bubbling over. “Why isn’t she saying anything? She was talking before.”
“She’s slipping in and out of consciousness,” Maya said evenly, though the tightness in her jaw betrayed her worry. “That’s why we need to keep her oxygenated and monitor her. If her rhythm worsens or her oxygen levels drop—” She stopped herself, not wanting to say the worst aloud.
Maya pulled out her phone, typing a quick text with one hand while keeping her other hand on Ariana’s wrist, checking her pulse. Kristie caught a glimpse of the name: Carina.
“Emergency. Ariana’s in bad shape. Meet us at the ER. Kristie needs you.”
Kristie blinked back tears, focusing on Ariana’s face. Her girlfriend’s usual fire and humor were gone, replaced by pallor and shallow breaths. “Come on, Ari,” Kristie whispered. “You’re tougher than this. You don’t get to scare me like this.”
Ariana’s eyes fluttered open again, glassy and unfocused. “Kris...tie,” she mumbled, her voice barely audible.
“I’m here,” Kristie said quickly, leaning closer. “I’m right here, baby. Just hang on.”
“Hurts...” Ariana’s hand twitched weakly in Kristie’s grip.
“I know, I know it does,” Kristie choked out, tears streaming down her face. “We’re almost there. Just hold on a little longer.”
Maya’s voice cut through the tension. “Her rhythm’s worsening—V-tach,” she said sharply, her hand moving to adjust the defibrillator pads already attached to Ariana’s chest. “I’m prepping for a shock if it doesn’t stabilize.”
Kristie’s world tilted. “Shock? What do you mean? Maya—”
Maya placed a steadying hand on Kristie’s shoulder. “If her heart doesn’t stabilize, we might have to shock it back into rhythm. It’s scary, but it’s what she needs. I won’t let her crash on us.”
Ariana stirred again, her eyelids heavy as she looked at Maya, her voice barely audible. “Bishop... bossy... as always.”
Maya huffed out a short, relieved laugh, though her eyes stayed on the monitor. “And you’re a pain in the ass as always. Stay awake so you can keep sassing me, Ari.”
Kristie let out a shaky laugh, relief momentarily breaking through her panic. “You hear that? You’ve got a reputation to uphold.”
Ariana’s lips curved into a faint, ghost of a smirk before her head lolled to the side again.
“Damn it,” Maya muttered. She glanced at the paramedic driving the ambulance. “How much longer?”
“Two minutes,” the Travis called back.
“Two minutes might as well be two hours,” Maya muttered under her breath. She checked Ariana’s pupils, frowning at the sluggish response. “If she hit her head in there, we’ll need neuro imaging. But right now, the arrhythmia is our top priority.”
Kristie’s breath caught. “You think she hit her head? Maya—”
“We don’t know for sure,” Maya interrupted gently. “But the smoke, the heat, the falling debris—anything’s possible. Carina’s meeting us at the hospital, okay? She’ll help explain everything. You’re not alone in this.”
Kristie nodded, though her heart felt like it might shatter. “You texted her?”
“She’ll be there for you,” Maya said. “You’re part of this family now, Kristie. We take care of our own.”
The ambulance hit a bump, jostling everyone inside. Ariana groaned softly, her eyes flickering open again. “This... sucks,” she whispered.
Kristie let out a tearful laugh, stroking Ariana’s cheek. “Yeah, it does. But you’re going to be fine. You hear me? You’ve got too much attitude to go anywhere.”
Maya grinned faintly, watching the monitor. “She’s stabilizing for now. Let’s hope it holds until we’re at Grey Sloan.”
As the ambulance pulled up to the hospital, the doors swung open, and the trauma team rushed to meet them. Maya climbed out first, barking orders as they transferred Ariana to a gurney.
Kristie hesitated, frozen in the moment, until she felt a warm hand on her shoulder. She turned to see Carina, her face calm but filled with compassion.
“Kristie,” Carina said softly, her Italian accent grounding. “Come. Let them work. You can stay with me. We’ll stay close.”
Kristie nodded, allowing herself to be guided as her world spun around her. “She’s going to be okay, right?” she asked, her voice breaking.
Carina squeezed her shoulder, her voice steady and soothing. “She’s strong. And she has all of us. We won’t let her go without a fight.”

What about a Carina DeLuca x female!reader where they get married? Maybe Y/n could be a trauma/general surgeon and you can add a flashback when they meet at work and operate on someone and their eyes meet during the surgery and they're both instantly attracted to each other. Then fast forward to the day before the wedding and the same situation, they're operating and also talk about their wedding.
The wedding happens and they celebrate the night in their hotel room
❛ 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑨𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 ❜
𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜: Carina DeLuca x f!reader ♡
𝘼/𝙣: Heyy hope you like! Kinda happy I posted this not after so long ahah
Tumblr media
It was all in 24 hours and you could already feel all your body shake in happiness and excitement. If you think that tomorrow you would have got married it still felt so surreal. And with an amazing woman, Carina DeLuca.
Right now you were still at the hospital, a trauma had just arrived, so you had put all your feelings aside and do what you could do best, saving lives. The paramedics had already come in starting to list the case, you helped them to take the patient in a room. It had been a serious car accident and the woman was also pregnant, so you called OB/GYN. When you pronounced that phrase and saw Carina walking in, it all instantly seemed so familiar, like the first day you've met each other.
You still remember it like it was yesterday, a woman had been run over, and was halfway through her pregnancy. The way she behaved with patients immediately struck you, she was so sweet that she managed to reassure you too. At that time she was new at the hospital, and you felt the need to get to know her right away, that smile and those eyes on you the first time she saw you got inside you completely. And during the surgery, step after step, your gazes couldn't help but meet everytime. You didn't believe in this kind of things, like love at first sight, but with her it's been different because you had immediately felt something building inside you, the same was for her.
And here you are today, again in the same situation, your hands and bodies concentrated on the surgery, but your minds and hearts were already thinking about tomorrow.
"I wonder how you can stay so focused, I mean, I really admire you for this" Carina said giggling softly.
"Focused? Oh God I feel like I'm going to explode every minute, I'm too excited" you said smiling under the mask.
"I know right, I just can't wait to be your wife" you could hear the joy in her voice.
"Me too darling" you said. "You know what, I also can't stop thinking if everything is ready, I just want it all to be perfect" you sighed.
"I get that, it's something that never stops to pressure you, the anxiety and all that stress damn" she laughed softly. "But Andrea and all my frieds helped me a lot, he made me sure that all was perfect and I hope so"
"Yeah, Meredith, Amelia, Jo, Arizona and Alex helped me a lot too, I think without them I wouldn't made it" you said as you continued the procedure carefully. "Why is marrying someone you love so stressful?" You asked chuckling.
"Well, it must be the best day of our lives, I think it's normal some stress. And it'll be worth of it, bambina" she looked at you, even she was wearing the mask you could see her smile.
"Yes, you're right" you reciprocated the look.
After she completed the cesarean section, you still had a lot to do, Carina moved the baby where the nurses placed her in an incubator, ready to take her to peds.
"So, see you tomorrow" you said before she could leave.
"See you tomorrow and good luck with the surgery" she smiled at you before leaving with the nurses.
The surgery luckily went well, the woman was stable, the same for the baby. Your shift was over, so you went home to celebrate the night before tomorrow with your friends, which had taken pretty long, but it didn't matter since you couldn't sleep. Your mind was too awake.
The day after you woke up early and had a shower, before waking up the girls who stayed with you all the night. Meredith and Amelia prepared the dress for you, after you came out of the bathroom they helped you to put it on. The sight of yourself in that wedding dress have already had a big effect on you that facing this whole wonderful day was even too much.
"You're so beautiful" they said to you. "Hey, this is not a dream" Meredith added. You laughed softly.
"Yeah I'm just trying to realize everything"
"Damn, I'm already going to cry" Arizona said, looking at you.
"Oh, do not please, or I will too" you chuckled. When everything was ready, they helped you to get in the car.
The wedding wouldn't be in Seattle, but in a location not far away. You and Carina didn't want something very big, something intimate and simple was enough. It would have been an outdoor ceremony with all your loved ones. The journey seemed endless, but finally the car stopped at the destination. Your bridesmaids preceded you, then your moment arrived. You could feel everyone's eyes on you when you were walking, but your eyes were only focused on your future wife, right in front of you. She was sobeautiful, as always, at the sight of you her eyes were literally shining.
When the priest started the ceremony, you and Carina were just standing in front of each other, holding your hands and can't helping but smiling to each other. Your heartbeat increased every second, every single word about your story made you both almost cry in happiness and gratitude. During the exchange of the wedding rings it was a miracle that you didn't drop it. And then, it was that moment, that question finally arrived.
“Y/n L/n, do you take Carina DeLuca as your wife? Do you promise to love and cherish her, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, for better or for worse, for as long as both of you shall live?” you grinned at her.
"Yes, I do!" holding the tears was now more difficult.
"Carina DeLuca, do you take Y/n L/n as your wife? Do you promise to love and cherish him, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, for better and for worse, for so long as you both shall live?” she gave you the same grin.
"God, yes, I do!" She exclaimed.
"I officially declare you wife and wife, you may now kiss" you both didn't wait one more second to approach and giving you the first kiss as a married couple. As you kissed, everyone started clapping.
The party and celebrations could begin, even if you and her could only think about your life together and what it would be like with each other every day of your lives. Everything was amazing, also all your favorite people made this day very special, but for you and Carina felt like in a romance novel every second of it.
After the night has come and all the guests congratulated one last time before leaving, you and your wife reached your hotel room, that had been prepared. You sat on the soft bed looking around.
"I still can't realize this" you sighed, still thinking about this wonderful day.
"And maybe I can, because my awesome wife is right in front of my eyes" she smiled leaning in to kiss you. You placed your hands on her cheeks, deepening the kiss.
"What a honour to be married to such a beautiful italian woman like you" you whispered in the kiss.
"And what a honour to have you all for me this night and all the nights that still have to come" she whispered, with a hand moving a lock of your hair and the other one played teasingly with the sleeve of your dress.
She made you lay down on the bed positioning herself on top of you.
"Ti amo, bambina" (I love you, bambina) she said pressing a soft kiss on your neck and then looking at you.
"Ti amo anch'io" (I love you too) you replied smiling, that was all the italian you learnt since you told her so many times. Her lips returned focusing on your neck, tasting your soft skin, you rested your head back against the pillow as your hands explored her body. Now it was just the two of you, forever and always.

"oh captain my captain" your boots echoed into the kitchen as you made your presence known, leaning with your hands on the counter.
"I'm not your captain (Y/L/N), you know that" Andy replied, not raising her head from the toast she was preparing.
"but you're my favorite captain" you shrugged your shoulders, then quickly turned to look at the door "don't tell Sullivan I said that"
Her focus was still on your previous words, so she could only mindlessly laugh at that.
Andy was used to your flattery, this was definitely nothing new, but it never failed to make her blush.
"why are you here all alone by the way?" you asked, stealing her food.
"Hughes, Bishop and Miller are on a call, the others are doing chores. And that-" she slammed her hand on the counter "-is my breakfast"
You reached for the bowl in the middle of the marble top, grabbing an apple and handing it to the brunette
"here's your breakfast, no need to thank me"
Andy raised her eyebrows at your smirk, shifting her gaze from your eyes to the fruit next to your face.
"how's your butt? Birdie told me you fell down the stairs on the last call"
The last call you were on had a big case of termites, and no one living there ever bothered to do anything about it.
So, when you were called because they heard the floor squeaking and you tried to get the old lady out, the wooden stairs failed on you.
Thankfully no one got hurt, except your butt.
"oh my butt's just fine. I don't know if I can say the same about yours"
She tilted her head to the side, silently questioning you. Her lips curled into an amused smile.
"birdie told me," and you both knew you were referring to the same birdie
"you got lucky last night, some 'handsome hair guy' gave you his number" you took another bite of her, your, food.
"well, not that it's any of your business" Andy started and crossed her arms, drawing a step closer to you.
You two were nothing, you two have never been anything but friends. Close friends even, yea sure, but not even between best friends there's usually this...tension.
A touch of a hand or a brush of a shoulder, or the look of encouragement shared before going inside of burning building; all of this was definitely not just friendly, and you could both feel it.
But none of you ever acted on it, for whatever reason.
So, even though it was none of your business, Andy wanted to made sure you knew the truth.
"his number was all I got, I didn't call him"
"ohw, are you scared to go on a date Herrera?" you challenged, lowering your head so your faces were even closer. "is it been that long since your last kiss?"
In a way, you weren't wrong. In the last few months, whenever Andy tried to get with someone, let it be a one night stand or a coffee date, it never felt right.
And she never wanted to admit to herself why it felt wrong, so she just put the dating scene aside, avoiding casual hook ups and flirting with strangers.
But you weren't a stranger.
And to say the tension was a secret would be a great lie. Everyone with working eyeballs could see it, and they all had things to say about it too.
But they don't always notice when they're interrupting a moment,
like Travis right now, barging into the room with his loud voice.
"what's for breakfast? I'm so hun- oh"
he stopped in his tracks, after seeing the position you two were in, making you take a step back from each other.
"did I interrupt something, cause I can go back and we can pretend I was never here"
"no nothing happ-, don't worry about it Travis" you waved your toast in the air, dismissing his entertained expression.
Andy brought her hands on her hips, still trying to wrap her head about what could have happened.
"and there's nothing for breakfast, it was Miller's turn but he's on a call"
The woman then turned to you, and leaned over you to grab the apple you offered her moments ago.
"you're lucky if you can make yourself a toast"
It was meant for Travis, but she never took her eyes off you, watching you take the last bite of her food, smirk on your lips.
2
Vic's posture was slouched and her lips were slightly moving as she counted the money in her hands.
You entered the break room and took a seat on the sofa across from her.
"are you handing out free cash?"
She didn't take her eyes off the bills, afraid she might lose count.
"I'm handling a bet actually, don't distract me"
At that, you let out a sound of surprise, clearly exited
"who are we betting on? I want in"
"I don't you can, since we're betting on you" Vic counted the money again, then put it in her back pocket.
"when are you going to man up and ask Andy out?"
You groaned at her words, throwing your head back onto the backrest of the couch.
"why are you even betting on that? I'm not going to, we're just friends"
It took Vic all her strength not to burst out laughing at you. And you don't think you would have blamed her either.
"alright. Who says I will?"
"oh everyone actually" she shrugged her shoulders, plainly amused by your reaction, "we're just betting on when it's going to happen"
"you're impossible" you replied, knowing damn well you would have loved this bet if it were about anyone else.
"and you're in love with Andy" she accused, slapping your shoulder.
And while you were having this conversation, Andy's day was not going very differently.
"I'm not in love with (Y/N), Maya"
Andy and Maya were assigned with cleaning the lockers room and the blonde tried to make it not so boring with some light conversation, except it wasn't all that fun to the other woman.
"oh come on everyone can see that"
"then everyone is blind" she stopped removing dust from one of the helmets to look at her best friend.
"why are you so persistent on denying it Andy?" the task at hand was long gone by now, and the two were just talking
"You used to tell me everything about Gibson or Tanner or anyone, why won't you tell me about them?"
"because-" the brunette raised her arms in the air, one of her hands still holding the rag she was using to clean the gear
"there's nothing to talk about, we're just friends"
Maya wanted to scoff, or laugh at her face, but much like Vic did, she kept to herself, returning her attention to her assignment.
"besides, why are you so sure they're into me?" she asked after a second of silence, keeping her eyes on the dirty lockers.
If you were into her, she wanted to know. Just out of curiosity, nothing more.
The other firefighter raised an eyebrow, then proceeded to shrug, before answering.
"the way they look at you, the way they talk to you, the way they look at your-" she was stopped just in time by the shirt Andy threw at her face.
"that's just...flirting" Andy tried to justify your behavior, but for some reason she didn't believe it, didn't want to
"they're flirty, I'm flirty, it's just a way to keep things interesting around here. Sorry you're too uptight to understand that"
"oh I'm too uptight?" Maya pointed a finger at herself, laughing in disbelief.
"okay so you're telling me," she put the false accusation aside
"that if you let your hair down, undid a couple of buttons, and swayed your hips, they wouldn't try to sleep with you? not even try to kiss you?" she challenged, pointing with her fingers at every part of her body she was talking about.
Maya enjoyed the hesitation on Andy's face.
"no, they wouldn't." she settled on.
"okay. Let's test it out"
"what?"
"let's test it out" the blonde repeated "and if they really don't try anything, I'll stop insisting"
Andy bit the inside of her cheeks, pondering her answer. She really wanted to get Maya off her back, but she didn't know if she was ready to face the truth.
"(Y/L/N), lieutenant Herrera wants to see you, in the lockers room" Maya's head appeared into the break room, making Vic raise her eyebrows and voice her thoughts in a teasing tone.
"wonder what the lieutenant wants in the room where everyone goes to get naked"
"you're insufferable" you glared at the woman, getting up from the couch. You would have said something else, but by Maya's choise of words it was probably something important, so you let her go.
"thanks Bishop" you nodded your head, exiting the room.
Unbeknownst to you, as soon as they were left alone, the two women instantly started gossiping about their recent conversations.
"lieutenant, Bishop said you wanted to see me?" you asked as you appeared into the room.
"lieutenant? so I'm not your captain anymore, (Y/L/N)?"
You were left with your mouth agape for a couple of seconds, you only called her that way when the situation wasn't serious.
"you..needed my help, as my lieutenant?"
"I needed your advice actually, on something not really work related" she explained, and you relaxed a bit.
"sure, ask away" you shrugged, leaning your back on one of the lockers.
"you think this is appropriate, for a date?" she opened her arms to better show her outfit, which was just her uniform. The only thing that really changed was her wavy hair, now free from the ponytail she always had at work.
You blinked a few times, before nodding
"uh I guess? perfect for an after shift day"
"do I know them?" she saw you fiddle with one of the hanging coats, but she didn't mention it, "another firefighter? someone you met at the bar, or-"
you turned to look at her, "mister 'handsome hair guy', you finally called him?"
"are you jealous, (Y/L/N)?" Andy squinted her eyes, and made a show of crossing her arms, making you follow the movement.
That was a big mistake, because now you were hyper aware of the few buttons missing from her shirt.
She took a step closer.
"why would I?" you licked your lips, and mimicked her action. Neither of you noticed, but those two steps were enough to get the two of you face to face.
"do you want me, to be jealous?" you lowered your voice, two of your fingers slipping into the loop of her pants, pulling her towards you.
"I-" her breath seemed to get stuck in her throat and her arms threatened to fall to her sides.
"(Y/N).." she whispered, and you could feel the word on your lips.
"Aid car 19. Medical response requested" the loud voice echoed into the silent locker room, but it didn't interrupt your staring contest.
"I'm on aid car today" you explained, and you knew you could get an earful from captain Sullivan if you didn't run to the truck right that instant, but you couldn't get your legs to move.
And Andy wasn't helping at all.
"I know"
"Aid car 19. Medical response requested"
"(Y/L/N), you ready?" you heard another voice yell from the other room.
This time, you took a step back.
"coming Warren" you yelled back, making sure he heard you.
"I have to go" you said, with more urgency then before, and all you got back was a distant nod.
"you'd look great in anything, by the way" you added once you had one foot out of the door, then shut it quickly behind you, missing the blush that covered Andy's cheeks at your comment.
3
The sound of the big door opening and the motor of the engine shutting off made your ears perk up, and you turned to see half the team getting out of the truck.
The captain instantly went to his office, but that's where he always was when he wasn't on a call, so that didn't surprise you.
What surprised you was that a certain brunette didn't even spare you a glance, going up the stairs.
You furrowed your eyebrows at her behavior, but you couldn't catch her attention as the man on the phone was still talking your ear off, and you were trying really hard not to be rude.
"and I'm sorry that happened, sir, but you can't call the fire department for something like this" you pinched the bridge of your nose, hoping to end this as soon as possible.
When he repeated the same problem for the third time you restrained a groan, leaning back on the chair, making someone laugh behind you.
You craned your neck to look at her, then motioned for her to come closer with your hand.
"there's nothing we can do sir, if someone stole your car you need to call the police, not us"
Maya laughed again at your words, leaning on the counter beside the phone.
"yes, yes, hope you can get it back, yes, goodbye" your tone grew more impatient with every word, until you finally ended the call, slamming the phone back on the table.
"desk duty is so fun right?" she mocked you, and she was less then effected by your glare.
"yea sure, that's what I dreamed about when I applied to be a firefighter" sarcasm laced your answer.
"hey uhm" you stalled for a second, Maya was acting normally, but it was very weird for Andy to ignore you, unless she wasn't in the mood to interact with anyone
"did anything happen on the last call?"
You saw her shake her head, almost confused by the question.
"I don't know, Andy seemed weird. But, she probably didn't see me" you tried to reason, but Maya nodding her head made you rethink what you said.
"nothing happened, but you should go talk to her"
Even though her words did nothing but fuel your confusion, you briefly thanked her, then went up the stairs.
You mindlessly played with your fingers as you paced back and forth in the hallway; despite Maya's words, you still didn't know if bothering Andy would be a great idea.
Maybe she wanted her space, that's why she ran straight to her room, or maybe she didn't have the courage to ask for the help she needed.
While your head was busy thinking about different scenarios, your feet made the decision for you, stopping you in your tracks, and your knuckles tapped two times on the wooden door.
Andy heard you calling out her name, and much like you did moments ago, debated whether or not to let you in.
A whole minute has passed with her biting her lip in thought, and keeping her eyes everywhere but on the door itself.
And when she finally made her decision, she was afraid it was now too late.
"come in"
To her surprise, you had been standing there the whole time, turning the handle at her words, and stepping slowly into the room.
She moved to one side of the bed, to make room for you. And you mimicked her position, leaning your back on the wall.
Since you didn't know what she needed just yet, you meant to stay silent, but she was the first one to break the silence.
"she would have died"
She kept her gaze ahead, even when your head turned to look at her.
"if the team followed my lead, she would have died."
"what are you saying Andy?" you whispered, noticing how she took her time to form words; and when she did, her words were hardly coherent.
"on the call, Sullivan asked me if I had a plan, and I had one. But we ended up doing as he said" she paused, her gaze falling to the hands on her lap "and thank god we did, because if we waited like i suggested she would have died. And it would have been my fault"
"but she didn't"
"yea because I'm not a captain, (Y/N)" for the first time she looked back at you, with furrowed eyebrows and a pleading look in her eyes.
"I've been so fixated on thinking I should be the captain because my dad was, that maybe- maybe I don't deserve it" she concluded, lightly shaking her head.
It was no secret that having Sullivan as a captain has been hard on everyone. You could handle a strict leadership, sure, you were used to hostile situations anyway, but this team has always felt like a home, and someone suddenly entered the family, altering its balance.
And it was definetly no secret that the one who has suffered the most from it was Andy. She had to see her father step down, and the station she grew up in being commanded by someone else, someone who knew nothing about any member of the team.
She tried not to let it show, always claiming she accepted the change, and just wanted to make a good impression on the new captain.
But you could see how it was eating her alive.
You reached for her hand, linking your fingers together. You didin't say anything, waiting for her to look at you, and she did.
"we don't know what could have happened" you whispered "maybe you would have changed your mind halfway through, or you would have taken your teammate idea and changed the plan. You would have saved her, I'm sure of it"
Judging by her silence, you thought she was considering your words, until you heard her take a sharp breath in, and her hand in yours briefly loosened it's grip.
She was finding it harder and harder to keep eye contact, she felt the corners of her eyes burning, and if it were anyone else right now she would have just asked them to leave.
But you weren't anyone else, and she found herself hanging onto your every word, your tone showing a warmth only the touch of your hand could recreate, and with the way you were looking at her, she has never felt more naked, more vulnerable.
"you don't know that" she breathed out, sounding almost defeated.
"no I don't" you admitted, because you didn't. "but I know that you would have done anything in your power to save everyone, like you always do, as a captain or a lieutenant or as a person. I would follow you into a building on the verge of collapsing if you told me to do so, which could happen tomorrow" she lightly chucked, knowing this was a very plausible scenario.
Your tone became serious again, "because I know you pondered every other possibility, and I trust you to make the right choice." your tongue came out to swipe against your lips, and Andy couldn't help but follow the action with her eyes
"I mean it when I say you're the best captain this station could ever have"
"(Y/N)..." she didn't know why she called your name, you were right there, but you were the only thing on her mind at this point.
You were so close to her, she just head to tilt her head and she would feel the lips that uttered such comforting words on hers.
But when she scooted closer, or maybe it was your doing, you blinked rapidly, almost as if you just realized what was about to happen, then cleared your throat.
"you should get some sleep"
You almost regretted your words as you took in the hurt expression on her face. You would have wanted nothing more than to allow her to zero the distance, to finally give clarity to this weird relationship between you two, but you didn't want to take advantage of her vulnerable state, and confuse the need of comfort with love.
"I'll see you after my shift?" you forced yourself to ask as you got up from her bed when she made no move to talk.
"yea" she only noticed you getting to her door when her hand started to get cold again.
"thank you"
"anytime" you replied softly, then closed the door behind you.
4
You took another sip from your cold beer, while you leaned your back on the wall.
You stopped interacting with the others a little while ago, just content with listening to them talk.
To be honest you weren't really following what they were saying, all became a blur to you after the second, or the third beer, but you could recognize their light tones and careless laughs, making you feel at ease.
You could make out Travis and Jack's voice, with some interventions from Dean here and there, probably warning them not to get their feet on his coffee table.
You could also make out the sound of the water by the deck slowly moving with the wind.
The one sound that came crystal clear to your ears was a certain brunette's laugh as she talked with her friend a few feet away from you.
Even if Andy, and Vic for that matter, caught you looking in their direction multiple times, you could just say that you were looking at the water behind them, not that they would believe you. Vic definitely wouldn't.
As you raised the bottle to your lips you found your mouth empty, and a little frown took over your face.
You didn't bother warning the others, it's not like you were participating in the conversation, and headed inside.
And once you were back in the house the lack of the wind running through your hair made your cheeks feel really warm, making you realize they were probably red on the outside.
You actually went inside to get another beer or something to eat, but once your eyes landed on it, you couldn't resist the couch in the middle of the room.
"careful with your head like that, you might throw up"
it was only a few seconds of you sitting on the couch with your head leaned back in the air over the headrest until you heard her soft voice, and her heels coming closer to you.
"and you followed me to make sure I wouldn't?" you changed position, guided by her hand on the back of your neck, and saw her sitting next you.
"it was more so you wouldn't get another beer" she chuckled, turning so her middle was facing you.
"I wasn't going to get another beer" you lied.
She began speaking again, about what you didn't know, you weren't even sure she was talking; you could just see the way her lips moved, lips that had much more lipstick earlier this evening, she must have removed it by accident with a napkin after eating.
Her makeup was still on point though, you saw her subtly checking it with her phone before, but you were too far away to tell her it was perfect.
You were used to her wearing make up, she did that for a night out or, in this case, when you had little parties at Dean's house.
But there was one thing you didn't see often.
"what are thinking about?" her words finally entered your brain, making you blink rapidly.
Your voice came out slightly unsteady, but Andy was the only one to notice
"your hair"
"my hair?" she raised her eyebrows, cackling.
Between the alcohol turning your gears and her laugh stopping them, you struggled to find your next words "yea it's-" you scooter closer, one hand reaching to twirl a lock of her hair between your fingers "-different, I like it on you"
She got out a small "thank you" as she saw you playing with the ends of her curly hair, and she could feel your breath on her collarbone from the way you were leaning into her.
"sorry, I don't want to ruin it" you apologized, letting your hand fall next to her thigh.
When you raised your head to look at her you found her really close to your face, lips mere inches away from each other.
"it's okay" she reassured in a whisper, but she had a feeling your head was somewhere else.
In a bold act, probably guided by the alcohol, you propped yourself up on the couch to get even closer to the brunette, and closed your eyes.
You opened them again when you felt a hand on your chest, Andy's fingers gently grabbing the fabric of your shirt.
Her mouth was still agape, trying to grasp the right words.
"you're drunk" she whispered, but it felt more like an inconvenience rather than a statement.
She didn't give you time to reply and just got up from the couch, excusing herself as she went back outside.
Even after you were left alone, your eyes were still on the same spot were Andy was seated, trying to translate abstract thoughts.
Then, letting out a big sigh, you resumed your position on the couch.
And suddenly, the alcohol in your system wasn't nearly enough to stop you from realizing what you just did.
And how Andy reacted.
You felt the couch dip beside you, and it was only then you reopened your eyes, finding Maya next to you.
You two sat silently for a while, she didn't drink as much as you did, but you could see the light redness on her cheeks and her relaxed eyebrows.
She probably came in here to get away from the voices that seemed to get louder every second; as some of them tended to get loud when drunk.
You cleared your throat, but your voice still came out in a whisper.
"I almost kissed her"
And if you weren't so distracted you would have slapper her for the surprised laugh she let out
"you what?"
"I almost kissed her" you repeated, this time louder "and she pulled away"
While you were looking at the ceiling you missed the way the blonde fully turned her body towards you, adjusting one leg under the other. She squinted her eyes, almost hoping you were so drunk it was all just incoherent blabbing
"what do you mean she pulled away?"
"she pulled away, she rejected me, she refused me, she turned me down- is it clear now?" you asked sarcastically, placing the empty bottle that was still in your hand on the coffee table in front of you.
The blonde furrowed her eyebrows, deeply confused with this turn of events.
"...Andy?"
"yes Maya, Andy. Who do you think I'm in love with?" normally you would have never let something so big slip, especially when she was in the other room, but you were too drunk and confused and hurt and tired to care about filtering your words.
Thankfully she didn't make it a big deal, and tried her best to comfort you. Truth was, Maya herself didn't know how to help you, she was so sure Andy had feelings for you that she couldn't think of any reason why she did what she did.
So, when they all got back inside to end the night and Andy saw you sleeping on her shoulder, and offered to drive you home, Maya tightened the hold on your shirt, stating you didn't need it, and you could just sleep at Dean's for the night.
You made sure to thank Maya the morning after at the station, while feeling a pair of eyes on the back of your back.
5
After the "accident" at Dean's house, you expected Andy to treat you differently, or even to avoid you, but to your surprise she acted normally around you.
Or at least she tried to.
While you tried to pretend nothing ever happened that night, for Andy's sake, Andy couldn't stop thinking about it.
It was not the first time you almost kissed, so it shouldn't bother her this much; but it was the first time she pulled away.
This time there was no call, no one entering the room, no one interrupting them but herself.
She tried telling herself that you didn't really want it, that you were too drunk to actually realize what you tried to do, but it was all just an excuse not to blame herself.
Every time you looked at her she couldn't get the image of your eyes closed and your red cheeks out of her head, every time you talked to her, Andy couldn't stop thinking about how you so softly complimented her hair, and it was becoming harder and harder not to confront you.
But thankfully, with your line of work, she was able to put personal business aside and just treat you like a coworker.
"(Y/L/N), Bishop, what's the situation?" your lieutenant asked through the radio.
She was assigned by the captain to the hoses outside the condo with Montgomery and Hughes, while you and Maya had to go inside the building to check where the smoke was coming from.
"we're on the fifth floor for now, there's still no fire but I'm starting to smell the smoke" the blonde replied, before shutting down the communication.
"you know what I was thinking about" she started, casting you a quick look and seeing your raised eyebrow through the mask before continuing "Andy's been acting weird around you"
"yea I wonder why" you sarcastically remarked, ignoring her laugh.
"no I mean, good weird. She looks at you more from across the room, she always seats beside you during breakfast, she asks you how you are during a call" she finished, referring to what she did a few seconds ago.
"she asked us" you clarified "and she is not acting any different, you're seeing things"
Not that Maya told you, but after that night Andy came to her to confide in her best friend, and finally told her the truth.
"I think you should tell her how you feel, maybe she just needs to hear you say it" she encouraged you, now that she knew both sides she couldn't help but try to push you in the right direction and end this endless pining.
Without stopping, you answered "oh you want me to be direct? Sure" you mimicked her action, shrugging your shoulders "do you remember when I tried to kiss you and you pulled away? yea well, I wanted to tell you that I really like you, in case you wanted to turn me down a second time."
You scoffed at your own words and turned a corner, but when you saw her stopping in her tracks you also stopped, confused.
"there's the smoke" she announced, making you look at the apartment at the end of the hallway, and while she ran towards the door, you opened your radio.
"captain, we found the source, east side of the building. We're going in"
Turns out the apartment belonged to a single mother and while she was distracted by her kids the stove she was cooking breakfast on caught on fire, and the flames instantly engulfed the door, forcing her to hide in the other room with her two boys.
While Maya helped the woman and the kids evacuate the building, you stayed behind to extinguish what was left of the fire.
After receiving confirmation that there wasn't anyone else left in the apartment, you got out of the building to finally get some fresh air.
You sat at the back of the engine, with the oxygen mask covering half of your face. You were looking in front of you at the smoke slowly disappearing when suddenly someone blocked the sun from hitting the side of your face, making you look up at her.
"you're using our vics' masks" Andy leaned on the door of truck, but made no move to grab the device.
"oh I didn't know-" you went to take it off your face, but her hand on your wirst and her laugh stopped you.
"I'm kidding, they used it while you were inside." she explained with a smile. But then it seemed to falter for a second "are you okay? Maya said it shouldn't have taken you that long to extinguish the fire. I could have sent someone up to help you."
You closed one eye and furrowed your eyebrows when her new position exposed you to the sun once again, but you kept on looking at her with the other eye.
You found it cute how she offered you help without realizing she couldn't have made that decision by herself anyway.
"don't worry about it captain, I was just checking for any gas leaks" the fake title rolling off your tongue as sweetly as the last time you used it a couple of weeks ago.
She saw you putting the oxygen mask behind you and let her gaze fall to the ground. When she finally told Maya how she feels about you, the blonde never revealed what she knew about your own feelings, and only told her to "go for it", which didn't help. at all.
"what's up with you?" your fingers reached for her belt loops and brought her closer. Andy widened her eyes slightly in surprise but when she noticed your relazed eyebrows, she realized you just moved her to block the sun.
"what do you mean? I'm fine" she knew it was useless with you, but she still tried to play dumb.
"I know you Andy, I can see when you're lost in your thoughts"
You gave her time to answer but she took it to look at your features.
The full face mask you wore before made your hair messier that they normally were, and your uniform had now dust and ash traces. Since her body covered the sun from hitting your face she couldn't see the brightness she was used to admire in your eyes, but they still held the same softness they always held while you were looking at her.
What she couldn't really take her eyes off where your cheeks. Being close to the fire made your body temperature grow, and gave your cheeks the same hue they had the night at Dean's house.
And that made Andy think.
Maybe your action weren't completely controlled by the alcohol.
In a spur of confidence, Andy grabbed your rosy cheeks, bringing you closer to her. And suddenly, much to your surprise, her lips where on yours.
You put one hand behind you so you wouldn't fall on your back with the force she was using, while your other hand went to reach behind her neck.
Andy could almost taste the smoke you inhaled minutes before, but the fact that you were kissing her back was enough to make up for it.
When she pulled away and straightened her back from the uncomfortable arch it was in, you slowly reopened your eyes and you honestly couldn't tell who looked more surprised.
"I thought-" the hand on your cheeck was making it just that bit harder for you to think "when I tried to kiss you-"
"you were drunk" she replied "I wasn't sure you really wanted it and I didn't want to finally kiss you when you wouldn't be able to remember the next day"
You kept looking between her eyes during the explanation, your hand going back to her waist mid speech.
"I will definitely remember now" you remarked, before pulling her in a second kiss.
Before you could detach yourself from her lips, you heard someone's footsteps coming towards you, then a loud cheer sounded from behind Andy.
"I see you two finally did it"
"and now I don't have to keep your secrets anymore" Maya added, following Vic.
"wait you knew? why didn't you tell me, Andy?" Vic looked between the two women,
"because you suck at keeping secrets Vic" the woman next to you answered, crossing her arms. She shifted her weight, slightly leaning into you hand still resting on her side.
"you really do, Vi" you chuckled, backing Andy up.
"yea whatever you know what?" she pointed at the both of you "I still won the bet, so thank you anyway, love birds" Vic proudly announced, but before getting in the back of the engine, she turned to the blonde once again
"and you're not getting anything, since you already knew"
At that, Maya groaned, following her "oh come on, that's not fair"
Their argument got lost on you as you turned back to look at Andy, who looked both amused and confused. She probably wasn't aware of the bet.
You got up and kissed her cheek to bring her attention back to you.
"do you want to drive?" she asked after a second, knowing that with her as lieutenant you'd sit next to her.
"yea, I'd like that. And,"
you took a step forward, your lips hovering hers "we can talk about this later?"
She nodded with a smile, but when she tried to close the distance, Travis honking from the aid car startled her.
He was a few meters away, so he wasn't able to see what was happening, or he would have never interrupted.
But Andy decided right this moment that she didn't want to get interrupted by anyone anymore, so she put her arms around your neck, and leaned in to kiss you again.
"let's go back, before we get another call" she spoke up once she separated from you, then walked past you to get into the passenger's seat.
And as soon as you started the engine, you heard Andy's incredulous voice, making you laugh out loud
"why did no one tell me about the bet?"

~~~~~
My Opening: (feel free to use or change)
“Angioletta? I thought physical therapy starts at 3.” Carina says spotting Aurora in the hallway.
“It does but I heard there were newbies and I wanted to see the new probies.”
“Interns.” Carina corrects.
“Probies. Interns. Same thing.” Aurora mocks. “It beats waiting at home.”
“Meredith is taking them to the new OR. I have to go one of my mommies is in labor.” Carina pulls Aurora into a quick hug and kisses her temple.
Aurora wanders the hallway. She meets a force of another body slamming into hers, knocking her onto the ground.
“Ooof, and they say firefighters come in hot.”
“I’m so sorry.” The brunette helps Aurora up.
Aurora stumbles up, her leg not fully cooperating as she holds onto the woman for stability. The pain shows on her face.
“Are you okay?” Concern laced in her voice.
“Just give me a second.” Aurora takes a deep breath and slowly puts pressure onto her injured leg.
“Again, I’m very sorry.”
“Well judging by the color of your scrubs and your need for speed, you must be one of the new interns.”
“Yes,” the intern replies excitedly. “Jules Millin.” She sticks out her hand eagerly.
“DeLuca?” Link questions. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine, just a little stumble is all.”
Link nods, gives the two a look pausing at Jules a little too long. He continues down the path he was taking. “I’ll see you in PT.”
“You know you’re not my doctor anymore!” Aurora shouts after him. “And he’s not listening, great.”
“Carina DeLuca? Jules her lips upturn at the realization. “I’ve always wanted to meet you, it’s an honor. I read about your study in orgasm’s utility as pain relief.“
“I’m going to stop you right there. Aurora DeLuca. Carina’s better looking, stronger and sexier little sister.” Aurora shakes Jules’ hand with a smirk. “Firefighter.”
“Oh god I’m sorry.”
Jules flushes. Her neck and ears more red than her face.
“I’m sure you’ve got surgeries you’re dying to learn. I on the other hand will try to rip Link’s head off for my PT plan. Good luck, bellissima (beautiful)”
Note
Feel free to ignore but if you feel like would you consider writing being in a relationship with Maya and Carina. Reader is a detective / cop , just the whole dynamic would be interesting I think.
Dating Maya Bishop & Carina DeLuca Would Include . . .
Tumblr media
(I made Reader an FBI Agent partly b/c I love Criminal Minds, hope that’s alright)
You guys are such a power couple. Carina as an OB/GYN Attending, Maya has a Lieutenant of Station 19 (she should be Captain tho), and you as an FBI Agent
Unfortunately with your important jobs, it’s hard to see a lot of each other
It’s definitely made your relationship a little more difficult, but you all love each other so much, and you put in the work
Carina and Maya are always worried about you when you’re on your FBI missions and often won’t be able to rest unless they get a text from you
When you come home from your missions, Maya and Carina are always there for you no matter what
They’ll always insist on Carina checking you out for any injuries, no matter how small
They also let you vent and talk about the case, often encouraging you to let it out
And even if you don’t get any injuries, Maya and Carina insist on you taking at least a day to rest
I think Maya would definitely cuddle with you like a koala would, arms and legs wrapped around you
Meanwhile Carina would have you laying against her chest, her arms wrapped around you and your legs tangled together
When it’s the three of you, you take turns being in the middle
After missions, you are. After hard shifts at the station, it’s Maya. And after had shifts at the hospital, it’s Carina
Maya and Carina will listen to you ramble about psychology and such for hours. They adore how into it you get
You also can’t help but profile them — oops
And they think you are so hot when you’re training/fighting
Maya will hold you while Carina tends to any injuries, cooing about how great you’re doing
You often take baths when coming home from missions and Maya and Carina insist on at least one of them checking in on you after you fell asleep in there multiple times (but they also think it’s very cute)
Maya and Carina are always texting your coworkers to see if you’ve been overworking yourselves
You all have little ways of getting each other to relax
More often than not, you’re hunched over case files. Carina will start massaging your neck, shoulders, or back while Maya will cup your cheek or your head and close your laptop
They’re most effective when they tag team, though
Maya and Carina are really in sync, so they’re often tag teaming you anyway
They absolutely adore how you turn to putty and melt. It’s the cutest thing ever!
If you ever have nightmares about cases, Maya and Carina will both hold you and assure you that you’re safe and that they’ll protect you no matter what (you and Carina do the same when Maya has nightmares)
You and Maya also try to learn Italian together and Carina adores it (she also teases you)
If anything more serious ever happens to you, Maya and Carina are always the first ones there
With how busy your schedules are, you make a promise to each other to always take time off to spend and devote to each other
You and Andrew would also be good friends because he’d think it’s so cool that you’re an FBI agent
You three also love to watch each other work because all of you are so amazing in what you do
Whenever Maya gets jealous that Carina’s around women all day, you’re there to distract her with hugs and kisses
There are definitely some conflicts and arguments, but your love for each other conquers all
The day had been long at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, especially for Carina DeLuca. Her shifts were exhausting, but she knew every effort was worthwhile to help her patients. Finally, the time came to go home, and the only thing keeping her motivated was the prospect of meeting Y/N, her amazing girlfriend.
As she drove back home, Carina reminisced about the last time they spoke. Y/N had told her she would arrive early to prepare dinner and spend a quiet evening together. The Italian couldn't help but smile at how fortunate she was to have someone so incredible in her life.
Upon opening the door to her home, Carina noticed something was different. The kitchen light was on, and a delicious aroma filled the air. She took off her shoes and followed the scent to the kitchen, where she found the surprise of her life.
Y/N was there, apron-clad and all, eagerly preparing dinner. The table was set, candles were lit, creating a cozy atmosphere that filled the space. Carina couldn't help but smile at the effort Y/N had put into making everything perfect.
"Hello, darling!" greeted Y/N with a smile as she approached for a kiss. "Your dinner will be ready in a few minutes. How was your day at the hospital?"
Carina, still surprised and excited, hugged Y/N. "It was exhausting, but you know how to make it all worthwhile. You're amazing."
After enjoying a delicious home-cooked dinner, the couple retired to the sofa to relax. However, the accumulated fatigue from the workday affected Carina, and soon her eyes began to involuntarily close.
"I think I need a little nap," Carina yawned.
Y/N smiled, understanding her girlfriend's exhausting day. "Go rest, sweetheart. I'll be here when you wake up. I love you"
"I love you too" Carina replies.
Carina settled on the sofa and quickly fell into a deep sleep. Y/N, affectionate, covered her with a blanket and sat beside her, gently stroking her hair while she slept.
Time passed, and when Carina finally woke up, she found the warmth and tranquility of having Y/N by her side. She looked at her with love and gratitude, knowing she had found someone special in her life.
Thus, the night continued with laughter, hugs, and the love they shared, turning this Grey's Anatomy fanfic into a sweet and comforting love story between Y/N and Carina DeLuca.
Hi, Captain
Tumblr media
Maya Bishop x Fem!Reader
First Maya Bishop Fic!
I got this idea from a tiktok I saw yesterday, and immediately thought of writing this.
Let me know what you think!
-grey
———
Maya and Andy arrived at an apartment building in the city. They were driving around in the aid car and were the closest to the location, so they were assigned to the case. They walked in to the lobby, walking up to the front desk.
“Hi, we got a non-emergency call at this location. Do you know who called?” Andy asked, looking around for anyone who could’ve needed help.
“That would be me.” You said, rolling your wheelchair closer to the two.
“Hey. I’m Captain Bishop and that’s Lieutenant Herrera. What seems to be the problem.”
“Oh, wow. They sent the big bosses. Uh, well sorry for calling, I just didn’t know what to do, but I just got back from a trip and the elevator is out of order and as you can see, stairs isn’t an option for me alone.”
“What floor are you on ma’am?”
“Just call me Y/N, no need to be formal, and it’s a long way up. I’m on the twenty-eighth floor.”
“Then you can just call me Maya.” She turns to look at Andy. “How do you wanna do this?”
“One of us can carry her and the other carries the chair?”
“Would you be comfortable with one of us carrying you?”
“As long as I get to my floor then I’d be fine with it.”
Now here you are, on the tenth floor, Maya carrying you on your back, Andy following behind with your chair.
“How are you doing Captain? Still going strong?”
“We trained for this, so I’m doing alright for now.”
“What about you back there?” You ask Andy, holding your arm tighter around Maya’s neck to look at Andy.
“I’m doing fine. Your chair is surprisingly very light.”
Eighteen floors later, Maya sets you down in your chair where you roll yourself to your door, the two firefighters following closely behind.
“Welcome to my humble abode. Would you like something to drink? Water, or a sports drink for some electrolytes? I’ll just give you guys both.”
“This is a very cozy place you for here.”
“It is. I’ve only just recently moved in a couple months ago.” Wheeling over to where they stand, looking out the windows, you hand them their drinks. “I can’t thank you both enough.”
“It’s no problem at all. But how are you gonna get back down?” Andy downs all her water.
“Don’t worry, they’ll have it done by tomorrow night. I have nowhere else to go before then.”
“We have to go, but it was great meeting you.”
“It was great meeting you too, Captain.”
———
Rolling your chair to the front of Station 19, you ring the doorbell. Seconds later, the door opens to a male firefighter.
“Hi, how can I help you?”
“Good morning. I was just wondering if Lieutenant Herrera and Captain Bishop are here?”
“Can I know what you need them for?”
“They helped me out yesterday with getting up to my apartment, so I thought I’d thank them properly with some homemade goodies.” You at, pointing to your lap that had one big box and two smaller boxes.
“They’re currently out in a call, but should be back soon. Why don’t you come in and wait inside.”
He holds the door open so you can roll yourself inside.
“Oh! This box here on the bottom is actually for all the firefighters. I didn’t wanna bring some goodies and leave everyone else out. Could you grab the Mr…”
He grabs the bottom box when you lift the other two off.
“Uh, Montgomery. But just call me Travis.”
“Okay, Travis. You can call me Y/N.”
“I’ll just bring this upstairs and be right back.”
———
Maya and the rest of the team file out of the fire truck, taking their heavy gear off, each doing their own thing. As she walks towards her office, she sees someone familiar.
“Y/N! What a surprise. What are you doing here?”
“Hi, Captain—”
“—Maya, please.” She interrupts you.
“Well, Maya, I just wanted to stop by to thank you and Andy properly. I’ve just—”
“Hey! Who’s this?” You’re interrupted once again, this time by the whole team walking in.
“Y/N! Hi.”
“Hi, Andy. I was just telling Maya I wanted to thank you both for yesterday and made some baked goodies.” You said, handing them a box each. “There’s a bigger box of them for the rest of the team that Travis brought upstairs.”
“Baked goodies?” Vic asked very excitedly, running up the stairs, other on her tow. “You’re the best!” She yelled out, followed by other ‘thank you’s’ from the team.
“Thank you Y/N.” Andy followed the others.
You and Maya were now left alone downstairs.
“Would you join me in my office? I’d like to ask you something.”
“Lead the way.”
Holding the door open, she lets you enter first, closing it behind her.
“I don’t know if this is unprofessional since I am currently on the job, but I wanted to know if you’d like to go on a date with me sometime? Hopefully tonight?” After not hearing an answer right away, Maya grew nervous. “Or, not. It- it’s okay, probably a stupid idea…”
As she’s nervously rambling, she doesn’t notice you staring amusingly at her with a smile. Deciding to put her out of her misery, you interrupt her.
“Maya!” She looks at you with wide eyes. “I would love to go on a date with you.”
“Great!” She clears her throat. “Uh, cool, cool, cool. That’s awesome. I’ll text you.” She opens her office door going out, then opening the front firehouse door, you following after her. “I will text you.”
“You would need my number for that.” You smirked.
“Right! Right. Uh, here.” She hands you her phone, hands a little shaky. “Could you put your number in. Thanks.”
Handing her phone back to her. “I’ll see you later Captain.” You said with a teasing smile, exiting the station to your car.
“See you later indeed.”
Authors note: Sorry it's so long. I tried to shorten it but… I didn't succeed, haha.
ᕚ---ᕘ
The smell of freshly grilled meat was in the air, mixed with the sweet aroma of flowers, as the entire Station 19 team arrived in the backyard of Andy Herrera's house. The sun was still shining brightly in the sky, and a gentle breeze carried the laughter and conversation of the gathered friends through the air.
It was a rare event that they all came together without a fire or emergency calling them, and it was an opportunity to enjoy a free evening together, recover from the rigors of professional life, and enjoy the camaraderie that bound them so closely as firefighters.
The place was an inviting mix of functional comfort and personal style. Flower arrangements were everywhere, and the canopy was decorated with fairy lights that would later give off a warm and festive glow when the sun went down.
The team scattered into different groups. Vic and Maya were standing by the grill, laughing at a joke Dean had just told while he was turning the meat. Ben and Jack were playing with the kids. Others were curiously exploring the house.
Travis, known for his deep curiosity and love of small discoveries, had retreated into the house to get more beer for the whole crew. As he walked through the living room, he noticed something shiny lying between a book and a photo of Andy's father. He reached for it and pulled out a police badge from the side table by the sofa.
He picked it up and looked at it more closely, turning it over in the soft light of the lamp before running back outside with it. "Hey, guys, look!" he called out loudly, waving the badge in his hand as the door to the house closed behind him.
"What did you find there, Montgomery?" Maya asked curiously as she left her place at the grill and approached him. "Looks like a police badge," he replied with a wide grin and gradually the team members surrounded him. "Who do you think it belongs to?"
"Well, it's obvious," Vic said, pushing past the others to get a better look at the badge. "It must belong to Tanner. Our cop must have left his badge here after a sexy night."
A collective laugh broke out as they gathered around Travis, who was still holding the badge in his hand. Tanner, who had just finished his shift and had come over immediately, raised an eyebrow in surprise. "What do you have there?" he asked, stepping closer amusedly.
"Oh, nothing else," Victoria said mischievously and threw the badge at him. "Just your police badge. You must have left it with Andy last night." Tanner laughed and shook his head as he too looked at the badge and memorized the unknown service number. "That's not mine. My badge is on my belt where it belongs."
"Are you sure?" Ben teased with a broad grin. "Maybe you forgot it the last time you were here and this is just a replacement badge?"
"Oh, I know what's going on here," Maya said, turning to her best friend. "Andy, is there something going on with Tanner and you haven't told us about it?"
Andy, who had been following the conversation from the table, sipped her beer. Her eyes flashed with amusement, but she stayed in the background and tried to keep up her facade. She knew exactly who the badge belonged to, but she wouldn't reveal this secret. "Aren't you going to tell us the truth? And you, Tanner, what do you say in your defense?"
"Guys, I swear I have no idea where this thing comes from," Tanner said, laughing, and pushed his way through the crowd to avoid further questions.
"Maybe it belongs to Herrera herself," Jack suggested, walking behind the brunette. His hands rested on her shoulders, shaking her gently in her seat. "Maybe she's a superhero in her spare time."
"Yeah, exactly," Maya added. "Andy, the hero of Seattle who fights both fire and crime."
"Maybe the badge belongs to someone Andy knows better than we think," Dean added, and everyone started digging deeper into their thoughts. "You guys are really impossible," the brunette said, shaking her head as she started to walk to the grill, the meat long forgotten. "Tanner, explain to them that the badge isn't yours so we don't have to eat burnt meat here."
"I already told them!" Tanner answered loudly, throwing his arms in the air to express his frustration. "That's not my badge. Look, they're not the same identification marks!"
"Then the question remains," Warren said thoughtfully, looking back and forth between the badge on the table, Tanner, and Andy. "Who does it belong to then?"
Andy laughed heartily, but her gaze was impenetrable. She enjoyed the game, but didn't let it show. The secret of the police badge was too precious to reveal now. Especially when it was still so fresh. "You caught me," she finally said jokingly. "I'm secretly a superhero at night."
The team laughed and the topic was soon forgotten as the conversation moved on to other topics. But Andy couldn't help but think of the real story behind the brand.
It didn't belong to Tanner. It belonged to you, the woman Andy had been secretly dating for some time. You were a police officer and she had fallen in love with you without her team knowing. It wasn't out of shame or fear that she kept it a secret, but because she wanted to cement that relationship before sharing it with her family.
Throughout the evening, the atmosphere remained cheerful. They ate, drank and told stories. It was one of those rare moments when they felt like a family. A family bonded together by shared experiences and dangers. But she couldn't stop thinking of you anyway. What it would be like if you were here, joining the family. Secretly, she put the badge into her pocket and stroked it, a smile spreading across her face.
Later, as the sun was setting and the lights in the garden were coming on, Andy sat on the porch with a glass of wine while she listened to the others talking. The voices and laughter of her friends filled the air, but she kept thinking about you and the future you two might had together.
Jack sneaked up and sat next to her, handing her a fresh glass of her favorite wine. "You've been pretty mysterious today, Andy," he remarked with a smile and took a sip of his own beer. "Me? Mysterious?" she repeated innocently. "What are you talking about?"
"That police badge. You know more than you told us."
Andy smiled and looked up at the sky, which was slowly turning a darker blue. "Maybe, Jack. Maybe not. Some things just take time to come to light."
"You're really good at keeping us in suspense," he said, shaking his head with a big grin on his lips. "But I bet we'll find out sooner or later. With or without your help."
The evening ended comfortably, the team from Station 19 gradually saying goodbye, happy and satiated from a day full of fun and friendship. Andy watched her friends leave, feeling a deep gratitude for this second family that had been given to her.
ᕚ---ᕘ
Time had passed since Andy's barbecue, but the team at Station 19 didn't let up. They constantly teased Andy about the mysterious police badge that Travis had found. Whether during training, during breaks, or even on missions - jokes and curious questions kept cropping up.
"Andy, when are you finally going to confess to us that you're having a secret affair with Tanner?" Vic asked one morning, laughing, when they were all gathered in the firehouse kitchen. "Yes, Andy," Dean added. "We're all curious."
Andy rolled her eyes in annoyance and said nothing. She knew there was no point in continuing to deny or explain. The team would only calm down when they knew the truth.
That afternoon, while the team was enjoying a short break, the alarm suddenly sounded. An emergency call was made. "Police officer urgently needs support from the fire service and ambulance. Injured and in a dangerous area that is difficult to access."
"All hands on duty!" Andy Herrera shouted and fear immediately spread through her. She knew you were on duty, but hadn't heard from you for quite some time. At least her phone remained silent. "We have an injured police officer who urgently needs help. Get moving!!"
The team immediately jumped up and rushed to the emergency vehicles. The drive to the scene was tense, everyone knew that seconds could mean the difference between life and death. During the drive they heard further details over the radio. "The police officer is in an abandoned building that collapsed in a shootout after a pursuit. Serious injuries and no self-extrication are expected. Perpetrator may still be on site.“
When they arrived, they were met with a chaotic scene. The building had partially collapsed and dust was pouring out of various places. Police cars were parked around the building as police officers tried to get the situation under control.
"We have to get in and get them out," Andy said determinedly as she put on her gear. "No time to waste!"
Andy, Sullivan and Maya immediately made their way into the building while the rest of the team stayed outside to coordinate the situation and fight a small fire. The rubble and the falling dust made progress difficult, but they fought tirelessly through.
"There ahead!" Sullivan suddenly called out and pointed with his lamp to a spot where he saw a hand under broken wood.
Andy ran and knelt down, immediately starting to clear the rubble away. Finally, she spotted someone who was all too familiar to her - it was you, Andy's secret girlfriend. Unconscious and bleeding heavily. "Y/n!" she called out worriedly and immediately checked your vital signs. "We have to get her out of here and quickly!"
With combined forces, they carefully lifted the wood from your body and carried you outside. Ben and Vic were already waiting and immediately began first aid. Andy didn't leave your side, her concern for you evident in her physical tension.
"So that's your secret." said Travis, who was now also at the ambulance and watching the scene unfold in front of him. Andy looked up at him, stroking her upper arms to calm herself down and nodded. "Yes, that's y/n. We've been together for some time."
"Why didn't you tell us earlier?" asked Vic, who was trying to cover your open wounds with bandages. "It was complicated," explained Andy, looking down at you. "I wanted to be sure that our relationship was strong enough before I told all you. And in our professions, it's not always easy to make something like that public."
Travis, Ben and Vic nodded understandingly and the others came and gathered together. "We understand," said Warren, drawing up a syringe that he flushed into your venous access. "But you should have known that we would support you no matter what."
"I know," she replied gratefully and a small smile formed on her lips. "And I'm glad you know now."
ᕚ---ᕘ
The days after your accident were hard for Andy. She tried to do her job as well as she could, but her thoughts kept returning to you. Every minute she couldn't be with you in the hospital felt like an eternity. Her worries and fears gnawed at her, and the entire team at Station 19 tried to be there for her as best they could.
The support of her colleagues was a great help, but Andy couldn't completely shake off her fears and worries. Every day, after her shift, she drove straight to the hospital to be with you. She spent hours by your bed, despite the tiredness, holding your hand and talking to you even when you were sleeping.
But today she had the day off after a night shift, and she was determined to visit you in the morning and spend the whole day with you. "Hey," you said, still weak, but with a big smile on your face. "How was your night?"
"It was fine," Andy replied, sitting down by your bed before gently running her hand through your tousled hair. "I was thinking of you. How are you feeling?"
"Better," you replied shortly, pulling her hand away from your head to kiss her palm and then place it in yours. "The doctors are just getting the paperwork ready for my discharge."
"That's great news," Andy said, squeezing your hand tightly. "I can't wait to have you home with me and nurse you back to full health."
A few hours passed, and you left the hospital with Andy. She had been expecting this day with mixed feelings - joy that you were allowed to go home, and nervousness because she wanted to officially inform her team about your relationship and take you to the station.
And so she had the whole team gather in the lounge that afternoon, despite her day off, and everyone was excited about Andy's announcement. Andy entered the room with you by her side, hand in hand, even though you were still a little weak, but with a smile on your lips.
"Hey guys," she began, her voice shaking slightly with excitement as she rocked on her feet. "I'd like to introduce you to someone. This is y/n, my girlfriend."
A surprised but happy expression spread across the faces of her colleagues. Vic stepped forward and gave Andy and you a warm hug. "We suspected it," she said, laughing. "But it's nice that you're finally telling us officially."
"Welcome to our small but weird family, y/n," Maya added, holding out her hand. "Thank you," you replied, taking her hand gratefully. "I'm glad to meet you all. Andy has said so many good things about you."
"Well, we're glad you're here and that you're feeling better, y/n." Sullivan said with a smile. "If you need anything, let us know."
The mood was relaxed and full of joy as the team officially welcomed you and Andy as a couple. The past few days had shown how strong the bond and support within the team was. Andy felt a deep gratitude for her friends and colleagues who had been there for her during this difficult time.
The evening passed in a whirlwind of conversations, laughter and time together. Andy could finally breathe a sigh of relief, her worries had disappeared to some extent, and she knew that she not only had you, but also a great family by her side.
Since the start of work, Ryan could sense something about you was…off.
At first, he couldn’t quite place what it could be. You and he arrived at the station on time and even stopped and got your (f/d) beforehand.
However, as the day progressed, your mood only seemed to worsen and worsen.
He watched you from across the station, noting the way you kept shifting in your seat, the way you seemed to shrink into yourself. He knew you didn’t want to admit that you were in pain, but he also knew that it was better to face the issue head-on rather than pretend it didn’t exist.
So, he waits until you both go to get lunch before approaching, his expression a mix of concern and understanding.
“Hey, can I talk to you for a minute?” He asks, keeping his voice low.
You look up at him, your expression a little guarded. You knew exactly what he wanted to talk about, but you weren’t too keen on discussing your period with him. Even if he was your boyfriend, the thought of admitting you were in pain couldn't help but make you feel embarrassed.
Your (e/c) eyes meet his green ones, "Yeah, what's up Ry?"
“I just wanted to ask if you were alright. You’ve been quiet today, and you look like you’re in pain.” He said, his tone gentle.
You avoid his gaze, your cheeks flushing a little at his words. You knew he wasn’t going to drop the subject until you gave him an answer, but that didn’t make it any less awkward.
“I’m fine, just some cramps, that’s all.” You mutter with a forced smile, trying to downplay the pain you’d been feeling all day.
He nods, not looking entirely convinced by your answer. He can tell you’re putting up a tough front, trying to act like you’re not affected by the pain, but he knows better.
His quirks up one of his eyebrows, “Just cramps, huh?” He uses his hand to gesture towards the chair you’re sitting in. “That’s why you’ve been shifting in your seat and wincing every time you move?”
Damn, I guess there is a reason he’s a police officer.
You huff, your face turning even more red at his observant comment. It’s annoying to be called out like this, and the fact that he’s seen through your act makes you feel even more embarrassed.
“Okay, fine—So I’m in a little pain. But I’ll be fine, It’s just a normal thing, you know. It happens every month.” You mutter, your tone a little defensive.
He raises an eyebrow at your response, his arms crossing over his chest as he leans up against the wall. He’s not buying your tough act, not one bit.
“Just because it happens every month doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt. And I know you’re stubborn as hell, but you don’t have to pretend you’re some kind of superhuman…especially not with me.”
You look away from him, feeling a mix of irritation and embarrassment at his words. But deep down, you know he’s right, and it’s even more irritating to admit that.
“I know. I just…I don’t want to bother you with it, okay? It’s my pain to deal with, not yours.”
He sighs, his expression softening a little at your response. He knows you’re not used to relying on others, the idea of leaning on someone else with your problems seemed like a foreign concept to you.
Ryan’s voice takes on a serious tone, “Hey, look at me. You’re not bothering me, alright? I care about you, and I don’t like seeing you in pain—not when I can try to help you.”
You look up at him again, his expression earnest and sincere. It’s hard to remain distant in the face of his gentle words, the care and concern behind them makes your heart clench in your chest.
You sigh, your shoulders slumping in resignation, “I just…this pain sucks, okay? And I hate feeling useless and grumpy all day, especially while on shift.”
He reaches out, placing a comforting hand on your shoulder, his touch gentle and reassuring, “But you’re not useless, and you have every right to feel grumpy when you’re in pain. You don’t have to pretend everything is fine when it’s obviously not.”
You let your eyes flutter shut, leaning into his touch without realizing it. His words are like a balm to your soul, the reassurance in his tone making you feel a little less alone in your pain.
“I just...I don’t want you to feel like you’re obligated to take care of me or anything.”
Ryan huffs a soft laugh, shaking his head at your words, “You’re not a burden, and I don’t feel obligated to take care of you. I want to because I care about you.” He brings his opposite hand to your other shoulder and slowly starts to massage away any tension. “And caring about someone means wanting to make them feel better when they’re hurting.”
You can’t help but melt into his touch, the combination of his words and his actions slowly but surely chipping away at your stubborn facade.
You close your eyes, a soft moan escaping your lips as his hands begin to work their magic on your tense muscles. The feel of his fingers on your skin is like a soothing balm to your pain, the gentle massaging sending waves of relief through your body.
You can feel the tension draining from your body as he massages your shoulders, his fingers digging into the taut muscles with just the right amount of pressure to ease the pain.
“I’m gonna go grab some medicine from the first aid kit.” He murmurs, his voice gentle but firm.
You nod, not wanting him to stop the massage but knowing that medicine would help ease the rest of the pain. His hands fall from your shoulders, you shiver at the loss of contact.
He leaves for a moment, rushing towards the supply closet to retrieve the necessary supplies. He returns a few minutes later with a bottle of ibuprofen in one hand and a bottle of water in the other.
He hands the bottle of medicine and the water to you, his expression a little stern.
“Take a few of those. It should help until we’re able to get home.” He says, his tone leaving no room for argument.
You roll your eyes a little at his bossy tone but concede, knowing that he won’t back down until you take the medicine. You crack open the bottle and pop a few pills into your mouth, swallowing them down with a generous gulp of water.
Ryan smiles, satisfied that you’ve decided to listen to advice and take the medicine.
“Atta girl…” He murmurs, a gentle tease in his tone.
You shoot him a glare at his teasing, however you can't ignore the shiver that rakes through you at his words.
“Shut up. You’re lucky I like you, or I’d punch you in the arm for being such a bossy boyfriend.” You playfully tease.
He grins at your response, his eyes sparkling with amusement, “Hey, it’s not my fault you’re too stubborn to take care of yourself when you need it. You forced my hand.” He shrugs his shoulders innocently as he glances at the clock on the station wall.
“Whatever, just keep massaging my shoulders.” You jokingly huff, pouting a little at his comment. You know that he’s right, but you’re not gonna admit it.
He rolls his eyes at your stubbornness, but he can see the hint of a smile tugging at your lips.
He dramatically sighs and spins you around in your chair to resume the massage. Ryan's fingers once again begin to work their magic on your tense back and shoulders; the pain slowly ebbing away under his skilled touch.
The combination of the medicine and the massage is working wonders for your pain. The worst of the cramps are fading and you’re starting to feel more like yourself.
You close your eyes, a soft sigh escaping your lips as the last of the tension leaves your muscles.
He continues until he can feel your body completely relax beneath his touch, the tension in your muscles finally gone. He knows the pain is still there, but at least it’s been eased enough for you to focus a little better.
Gently, he pats your back signaling that he’s done.
You make a mumbled noise of protest, already missing the feeling of his hands on your skin. It felt so good, you could have easily dozed off like that. You turn around to face him, a hint of a pout on your lips.
“Why’d you stop?” You ask, your voice a little whiny.
Ryan chuckles, amused by your reaction. It’s adorable how clingy you get when you’re relaxed.
“Because it’s time for us to go home.” He replies, tucking a strand of your (h/c) behind your ear.
Your pouting expression turns into one of relief, the thought of being able to collapse into bed--Your own bed--At this point it could make you cry tears of relief.
“Thank god," You say, a slight yawn escaping your lips as you stretch your limbs. "I just wanna go home and snuggle with you.”
Ryan's lips curl into a grin at your words, his heart swelling at the thought of cuddling with you in bed.
“Sounds like a plan to me. Now c’mon, let’s get home.” He says, holding out his hand to help you up from the chair.
You take his hand, appreciating the support as you get up from the chair. Your body feels a little shaky, the day’s exhaustion catching up to you now that the pain has eased a little. Carefully, you two make your way through the station and out to the parking lot.
As you approach the car, he can see that you’re starting to look tired, your pace a little slower than usual. He keeps a steadying hand on your lower back, not trusting you to walk straight on your own.
Ryan opens the passenger seat door for you, waiting until you’re settled in before closing it and walking around to the driver’s side.
He gets in the driver's seat and starts the car, glancing over at you as he does so. He can see the exhaustion on your face, the dark circles under your eyes, and the slight shine of sweat on your face.
You settle into the passenger seat, leaning back against the headrest and closing your eyes. You’re completely exhausted, the day’s events taking a toll on both your body and mind.
You let out a soft sigh, your head lolling to the side, resting against the cool glass of the window.
Ryan reaches over, gently squeezing your thigh before shifting the car into gear and pulling out of the station's parking lot.
You crack your eyes open at the touch of his hand, a quiet breath escapes your lips as you feel his fingers on your skin. It’s a reassuring, familiar touch, one that never fails to make you feel safe and cared for.
You place your hand over his, intertwining your fingers as you watch the scenery outside the window pass by.
He glances over at you from the corner of his eye, a soft smile forming on his lips as he feels your hand wrap around his. He squeezes your hand gently, his touch a silent reassurance that he’s there, that he’s always there.
He continues to drive, maneuvering through the quiet city streets until you guys finally arrive at your house.
You blink your eyes open as you feel the car come to a stop, you must have dozed off a little during the drive.
Sitting up a little straighter, you yawn and stretch your muscles as the passenger door opens and Ryan reaches out his hand to help you out of the car. He keeps his grip steady and firm as he makes sure you don’t stumble on your way to the front door.
Once inside, he leads you straight to the bedroom.
You follow him quietly, too tired to protest his overprotectiveness. You slump onto the bed as soon as you reach the bedroom, collapsing onto the soft mattress with a loud dramatic moan of relief.
“I’ll go grab your heating pad.” He smiles at your dramatic display, chuckling softly as he watches you sprawl out on the bed.
You raise your head up, calling out to Ryan, “It’s under the bathroom—”
“Sink. I know, baby.”
He returns a few minutes later with the heating pad in one hand and a cold bottle of water in the other.
“Here, these should help some.” You take the heating pad, place it against your belly, and sigh as the comforting warmth seeps into your skin.
You close your eyes, sinking into the bed as the pain starts to ease again. The combination of the heating pad and the ibuprofen working wonders for your pain.
You feel the mattress dip as Ryan settles in next to you, his body heat a reassuring presence at your side.
He wraps his arms around you, pulling you closer to him until your head is resting on his chest. He can feel your body relax as you lean into his embrace, the tension in your muscles slowly fading away.
He presses a gentle kiss to your forehead, his fingers running through your (h/c) hair as he holds you close.
You hum contentedly as Ryan holds you. The feel of his chest beneath you and the sound of his heart beating in your ear is familiar and soothing.
You snuggle closer to him, nuzzling your face closer into his chest as you feel your eyes droop with exhaustion, “...so thankful for you, Ry.”
He trails his fingers down your spine, massaging gentle circles into your skin.
“I’m thankful for you too, (y/n). Now, get some rest…you’ll feel better in the morning.”
You respond with a mumbled noise of acknowledgment, your mind already drifting into the realm of sleep. You nestle closer to him, your limbs wrapping around him like a koala as you let yourself finally fall asleep.
Ryan smiles to himself as he feels you relax completely, your body boneless and limp against his chest. He continues to hold you close, his fingers rubbing gentle circles on your back as he watches you sleep. His own eyes growing heavy with exhaustion.
“I’ll always be here for you, (y/n)…always.”
Dating Andy Herrera Would Include...
Tumblr media
Requested by anon: Dating Andy Herrera (and being from station 19) would include please?
Andy had a crush on you the day you joined Station 19
She'll always want to "help" you with things, even though you tell her it's okay
When asked by the team if she liked you, Andy pretty much yelled "no" while blushing
Maya flicked a piece of egg at her and told her to boil it on her forehead whenever you came back around
She'll show up at your apartment after a particularly tough case to make sure you're doing okay
You tease her by asking if she shows up to everybody's home to just "check up on them"
She'll start stuttering and choking on her tongue before you let her in
One visit turns into spending time with each other after work a couple of nights per week
Andy is very big on taking care of you and always wants to lay her head on your lap whenever you're watching TV together
Always touching you so she can calm down a little bit
Taking turns cooking for each other
Everyone thinks you're a cute couple, and will whistle every time you walk in the station together
Every time you kiss her on the cheek she blushes and starts stuttering
5 times Maya Bishop tries to confess she's in love with you, and the one time she actually does please?
mayaaaaa my love
the only one
1.
“Hey,” Maya smiles at you sweetly. “What are you doing right now?”
The two of you were the only ones in the station right now because everyone had been called onto a call, so you were doing your chores while Maya was on desk duty.
“Just finished cleaning the table,” You look towards the dining room table, as you slowly move towards the kitchen to clean the counters off. “I’m about to start on the kitchen. What do you need?”
“Do you want to play on the pole?” Maya lifts her brows excitedly. “Come on, It’ll be fun.”
“I’m—“
“Come on!” Maya leans towards you with pleading eyes.
You sigh, giving in to her eyes. “Fine. Only for a few minutes.”
You place the sponge on the kitchen island, and then your hand is in Maya’s. You’re being pulled down the hall until you’re on the overlook above the barn, standing on the platform above the pole.
“Ready?” Maya places her hands on the pole and looks back at you before jumping.
“You know if Andy sees us, she’s gonna kill us!” You yell down to the ground. “And you know I’m afraid of heights.”
“Then why are you a firefighter?” Maya places her hands on her hips, looking up at you from the ground.
“I don’t know,” You shrug.
“I’ll catch you if you fall, I promise,” Maya moves a little closer to the pole. “Come on, you’ve done this before.”
“Okay. Here I come.”
You slide down the pole, thankful you’re wearing pants, but you’d definitely have a burn on your thighs after that.
When you land, Maya has her hands on your hips to stabilize you.
“See? I got you,” Maya skims your face.
“Yes you do,” You laugh.
“Hey. Can I tell you something?”
“Sure!” You nod, opening your mouth to
speak again, you’re cut off by the sound of a horn.
The two of you look out the garage door and see the firetrucks pulling into the garage.
“We’ll talk later. Andy said that they were stopping at the kitchen after, so I better go finish cleaning the counters.”
“Okay. Yeah,” Maya nods disappointedly.
2.
You went out with the team after a particularly hard shift. Most of your calls were surrounded by children, and everyone knew it hurt you on a personal level.
The group and you had a specific table they always went to, because it would fit all of you, so that’s where they went tonight as well.
As you’re getting settled in, everyone decides what they want to drink (mostly beers) and so Maya offers to get the first round.
“Y/n, wanna help me carry them back?” She asks as she removes her coat.
“Sure,” You clear your throat, standing to walk over to her.
Maya places a hand on the small of your back, and you’d be lying if you said it didn’t make you feel so much more better. If you asked her why she did it, she would’ve said there were too many men in the bar.
“You okay?” Maya frowns as she leads the two of you to the bar.
You shrug while Maya orders the beers.
“I’m okay. You know how I am about the kids. And.. the Crisis One calls don’t help me any.”
“I know,” Mayas face held a soft expression, and you loved her for it.
“I hate it on there,” You lean against the bar. “Andy must hate me, because it feels like I’m on Crisis One everyday.”
“You know that’s not true,” She tilts her head sadly. “But we can talk to her about taking you off the Crisis One schedule for a few weeks.”
“Thank you,” You chuckle slightly, leaning your forehead on her shoulder. “I really mean it. You’re the sweetest.”
“Of course,” She smiles. “Hey, could we maybe talk about something?”
“Yeah,” You lift your head. “We can talk soon though, because our beers are here, and it might be better if we talk in a quieter setting.”
Maya nods, grabs a few beers, and walks back to the table with you.
3.
You pull your shirt over your head, in no big rush to get back to your apartment and your lone dog.
Most nights it was lonely, and no one offered to go out anywhere, so you were in no hurry to get home. You’d probably get dinner or something on the way home, then pass out on the couch.
“Where are you going after this?” Maya asked, her back turned to you as she removed her shirt.
“Home,” You laugh, removing your pants. “Back to the dog and my lonely apartment.”
“Wanna grab a bite to eat?” Maya turns her head, trying her best to keep her eyes on the side of your face and not your legs.
“Yes!” You turn excitedly, seeing Maya was already staring at you. “I’m sorry.. it’s just that I was really hoping someone would say that because I do not want to go home right now.”
“Perfect,” Maya lifts her chin. “There’s a small cafe I’ve been wanting to try. It’s halfway between our apartments, so it won’t cause us any grief.”
“Good,” You nod, now trying to finish changing faster than before. “I really just want a good cup of coffee and some greasy food.”
Maya zips her jeans, “Mm yes. A burger and fries sounds so good right now.”
You turn to face to Maya, now fully changed. “Tell me about it.”
Maya laughs humorously, “I love you.”
“I love you too,” You grab your bag, moving to exit the room. “I’ll wait for you out here.”
Maya presses her lips together, her mood suddenly changing.
“Not the way I love you,” Maya says under her breath, slamming her locker door closed.
4.
“I am so hungry,” You groan as you rush into the kitchen.
“Oh?” Victoria lifts her brows. “What are you hungry for? I can get Travis in here to make us something.”
“I kind of want..” Maya trails off, catching your gaze from across the room.
“Spaghetti,” You and Maya say at the same time.
“Oo yes,” Victoria claps her hands together. “I will tell him right away. Because if I try to make it, we might be putting a fire out here.”
You chuckle, “Oh yeah, same.”
“Be right back,” Victoria runs down the hall excitedly.
“You know how to clear a room,” Maya jokes from the table.
You roll your eyes, coming to sit across from Maya.
“I haven’t seen you all day,” You rest your arms on the wood table.
“Well, you are on Aid Car today,” Maya says.
“Yeah..” You nod. “But at least it’s with someone I like.”
“Yeah. What’s not to like about Jack?”
“A lot,” You joke. “No I’m just kidding. He’s been a perfect gentleman.”
“That’s good,” Maya lets out a breathy laugh. “Hey so.. there’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you.”
“I’m all ears,” You lean forward.
“I have—“
“Here we come!” Victoria yells, dragging Travis behind her.
“Hold on,” Travis gasps, leaning over in hopes that he can get some air into his lungs. “Why am I here? Victoria was talking too fast.”
“You need to make us spaghetti,” Maya explains.
You look towards her and see her upset face, and make a note to ask her about it later.
5.
Somehow you got roped into helping with another training seminar. Every time either Andy or Victoria somehow got you signed up to help for the class.
This time it was a self defense class, which you had to admit wasn’t the worst of them, but you still didn’t like going to them, let alone teaching them.
You were praying you had someone who knew what they were doing to help teach with you, and apparently someone was on your side today, because Maya was preparing for the class when you got there.
“I must be late,” Your eyebrows drew together awkwardly.
“It’s okay. We were just starting,” Maya shrugs. “I’m Maya Bishop, and this is Y/n L/n. We’re going to teach you some basic self defense today.”
You nod along with everything Maya says, and suddenly you’re being flipped to the ground.
“Oo,” You groan in pain, ignoring the giggles from the teenagers.
“You should be paying attention,” Maya narrows her eyes down at you, offering a hand for you to take so you can lift yourself.
“I know. I didn’t get much sleep last night.”
“Let’s get them set up on an exercise and we can talk. Okay?”
“Sounds good,” You dust your butt off.
You and Maya instruct them on what to do, and she pulls you off to the side so the two of you can talk.
“What’s been bothering you?” She takes a sip of water from the bottle she has sitting off on the table.
“I don’t know,” You lie.
But you did know. You’ve had oncoming feelings for Maya, and they were there now, more than ever. You wanted to tell her, but you were terrified she wouldn’t reciprocate them.
“The dog’s kind of sick,” You look to the ground. “She’s been throwing up.”
That part wasn’t a lie.
“Maybe you should take her to the vet.”
“Yeah, I’m going to tomorrow. It’s my day off,” You bite the inside of your cheek, debating on whether to invite her or not since she was off as well.
“I’m off tomorrow too,” Maya puts her bottle down on the table. “I’ll come too. She’s a big dog. You’ll need help.”
“Thank you!” You smiled wide. “That would be very helpful.”
“Of course. I love you and Missy.”
You tilt your head, and look away, wishing she really meant it.
+1
Maya’s heart was beating out of her chest. It felt like she was going to have a heart attack, and she may as well be. The heartbreak would be all the same to her.
She has to stand back as Andy and Travis work to get you stabilized.
You were working to get some civilians out of their apartment as the ceiling fell down on you. The people managed to get out, but you hadn’t.
Maya ran in to save you, but after she did so, Andy made her stand back. She was a conflict of interest.
Victoria places a gentle hand on Maya’s shoulder as she paces, and Maya throws herself into Victoria’s hold.
No one has ever seen Maya in such a state. Everyone knew of her crush on you, and they were half excited that she was finally going to admit, but they were terrified that you wouldn’t pull through and that all of this happened.
Victoria holds Maya as you slowly wake.
“Ow,” You croak, and Maya is out of Victoria’s hold in a heartbeat. Everyone around you laugh at your reaction.
Maya dives to the ground, pulling you up into her arms, wrapping you in a bone crushing hug.
“Maya—“
“Don’t ever do that again,” Maya berates. “I was so scared.”
“I’m sorry—“
“No. I love you,” Maya lowers you so she could see your face. “And not like a friend, because that’s what you seem to think when I say those three words. I mean more than a friend, Y/n. Ever since your first day here. Even though I acted like I hated you. I really just wanted you to go out with me.”
“Maya.. I didn’t know.”
“I know,” Maya nods. “And I know that I just ruined one of my best friendships ever, but.. it’s worth it if you know. I’d rather you know, and hate me, than you not know.”
“Maya. Shut up,” You shake your head. “And here I thought I was the only one.”
“What—“
Maya is cut off as you press your lips to hers.
Everyone around you claps, and whoops, and you couldn’t care less about your pain, because you finally got what you wanted.
