i cannot tell you how much i agonized over how many elements to have in my magic system for this world. at first i thought about just doing the classic four elements. since they're nice and even and i got a whole duality thing going on with light vs dark.
then i thought about doing seven (very similar to genshin's elments) and having deities themed after the heavenly virtues and deadly sins. i still like the idea but it really didn't fit with the rest of the systems in place.
ultimately i settled on modeling them after final fantasy elements. particularly after ff14. i got six elements and there's two deities per element to reflect the dark and light side of each element. and then a high king and queen that light and dark respectively.
...this is actually a lotta work for something that doesn't have a huge appearance in the story. magic as a whole has fallen out of use since technology has advanced enough to make certain things easier and safer to make the magical version redundant.
but i like having the background. like, there's gonna be plenty of ruins and vague mentions of the gods and stuff. maybe next i'll write up something about the gods. they're spoken about as being "dead" and "long gone" in myths and legends after a war between them. i have so many thoughts about them.

FFXIV Write 2023, Day Twenty-Five: Call It A Day
Yawning widely enough that her jaw cracks, Statera rubs her good eye with the back of her hand. Forcing her vision to focus on the page in front of her again, the words swim in her vision.
Letting her head fall forward, the impact of it hitting the page fills the study, her ears flicking. A loud groan comes up through her throat as she vents her frustration, her tail lashing angrily.
Forcing her back to straighten and lifting her head, she winces as sunlight streams in through the window, bright and glaring on her face. Realising how late - or early - it had gotten, the Miqo'te closes the book with a snap and stands up, rolling her scarred shoulder as she heads to bed.

Unleash Dvesha: The Shadowy Addition to Pocket Bravery
Tumblr media
Dvesha is the new DLC enters into the classic fighting game, Pocket Bravery for Linux, Steam Deck, Mac, and Windows PC. Thanks to the brilliant minds at Statera Studio for bringing this to life. Which you can find on Steam now. Get ready, fighters — there’s a new contender in Pocket Bravery, and he’s bringing some serious edge. Meet Dvesha, the shadowy, devilish addition to the roster who’s here to shake things up. And also to test your skills like never before on Linux and Steam Deck. This isn’t just another DLC character. This is a creation born from the twisted experiments of Lobo and the legendary Scroll of Shadows. Picture this: the pure embodiment of fear and hatred, with a moveset that’s unpredictable, devastating, and downright dangerous. If you’re looking for a fighter that lets you dominate the battlefield with raw power and a bit of mystery, this’s your guy.
Who is Dvesha?
This is no ordinary fighter. Created as a shadow clone through Lobo’s dark experiments, he’s like a mirror that reflects his opponents’ worst emotions. His calm, calculated strikes feel almost eerie. While his story digs into Pocket Bravery’s growing lore. In Arcade Mode, you’ll dive into the twisted backstory of Lobo’s experiments. Turns out, he isn’t just a fighter — he’s also a weapon crafted to take on something even bigger. Who is this “greater enemy”? That’s for you to uncover as you play.

Seeing T'laqa Tia make leaps and bounds once he had a bit of help, Statera kicked herself into gear - Archon Rayne is clearly a better academic mentor than the Warrior of Light, and she should be capable of the same kind of progress as Laqa.
