OCtober day 14: inspiration
The musical Starmites was a very formative experience for me and probably influenced my entire personality, but more specifically Spacepunk influenced my love interests HEAVILY. In middle school I wanted to be Spacepunk. Yuzuki and Jessie are influenced personality and looks wise by the man the myth the legend himself.
#Yuzuki got the space Jessie got the punk#bweirdoctober#art#bweird OCtober day 14#Starmites#Jessie#Yuzuki

Tony Awards 2020 - A follow-up
Lightning Thief Musical fans, how we feeling?
Look... even I didn’t think they’d go so far as to nominate only plays for Best Score. I figured they just wouldn’t give a Best Score award, like in 1989 with Starmites. So I’m really sorry.
It’s very possible the Tony nominators just didn’t see Lightning Thief for whatever reason, and that’s why they didn’t nominate it. (the more I think about it, the more unlikely this seems)
To tell the truth, (unpopular opinion warning) I think Lightning Thief should have taken more time to rework some stuff before going to Broadway. Part of me is glad they took the opening and did it anyway, but it hurt their credibility as a Broadway-worthy show.
It’s also possible the Theater Wing is really trying to highlight the prestige shows this year since there is so much on the line for the theater community right now.
With Broadway now shut down until May and the government still not giving enough support to the arts in general, I get the desperation. The Tonys are generally the most public exposure Broadway gets, and they need it now more than ever, because a lot of people don’t take the arts seriously, especially with so many other businesses - including small businesses and hospitals! - needing the funds.
So maybe it wasn’t anything personal to Lightning Thief. But it still sucks.
Percy Jackson is still a bestselling story worldwide. It rose from the depths of movie adaptation hell to become a beloved musical, and will soon get a new TV adaptation. That’s more than a lot of Broadway shows (or book series, for that matter) ever get.
And there are so many great shows out there that never won Tonys. That were never even nominated! It’s up to you to make sure the show lives on.
You, the young theater fans of today, will eventually rise up in the creative echelons. And you will bring your love for these lesser-known shows with you and give them new life, in some way, shape, or form.
Right now Broadway is trying to survive the best way they know. I can't tell you not to be angry, but I can ask you not to let it make you bitter. There’s enough to be angry at.
I send you off with a song that sums up my feelings:

I got 3, and only one has real art.
The Emissary: (Vietta's ancestor)
She is so fucking important to my character's canon! Like so important! (Probably why she's the only one with art >.<)
The Emissary lived during the time of the Summoner, originally acting as a messenger between his troops before defecting due to a conflict of belief. (He excluded highbloods and she didn't like that.)
She was a prophet who believed that all castes should be treated as equals, and prophesied a future in which this was possible. However, she believed that in order for it to happen, certain measures had to be taken. It would not happen on its own.
During her life, the Emissary put events into motion that would help her prophesy come true. And in her death, she left behind a legend and legacy that would keep the rebellion alive on Alternia, even without the adults. (She did so much but I'll leave it at that)
The Starmite: (Strela's ancestor)
The Starmite lived during the time of the Signless. She was a tactician who led a rebel army against unthinkable odds, and actually won a fair amount of ground before they were overpowered by the Empire.
She unfortunately died soon after but not before saving her matesprit, Eronus, from the same fate (not that he knows it).
Her Imperial Prosperity: (Fortun's ancestor)
Her Imperial Prosperity or The Prospera was an ancient empress of Alternia. She lived during a time where the Empire was new, only having recently united the whole planet under a common rule.
Under her rule, Alternia flourished (hence the title). Her decisions were just, the land was plentiful, everything was good.
Unfortunately it was only that way for a short time. For all the fortune she gave, she seemed to have kept none for herself. After barely a decade she was assassinated by a bigoted advisor who hated her for simply being born male.
everyone must show me and tell me about your female ancestors in the reblogs. its very important

TUNED IN Tagline: Are You Listening? Production House: m & s Marshall Productions Director & Writer: Matthew Marshall
SYNOPIS Emma, a teenager who disobeys dinner table rules of her parents by having her cell phone at the table, gets grounded until she learns to get her priorities straight and learns the value of relationships.
ABOUT THE FILM Watching teens and young adults in the world today and seeing there connection to cell phones made me think about how through electronic devices we have lost a connection to one another as human beings. People are becoming less and less connected to family and other personal relationships. The more people use these devices, the more often the urge is to look at it. It takes people away from their real life relationships and isolates them from the world around them. I wanted to create a short film that looked at how this connection to devices has got out of hand and how it is a hallmark of addiction. While also showing that relationships, communication and social interaction with one another is vital since we were made to live and be in personal relationships.
BIO: MATTHEW R MARSHALL - DIRECTOR Matthew Marshall is an award winning director and playwright, who has over twenty five years in the film/video production and theatre industry. His vast production experience includes such highlight credits as Director / Producer / Writer of Malicious Attack; Director / Producer and Writer of Tuned In; Director / Producer and Writer of Daughter of the King; Producer and Production Manager of Struggles Within; Director / Producer and Writer of Addictions; Director / Producer and Writer of Meaning of Christmas; Director / Producer and Writer of Choices, Director / Producer and Co-writer of Reflections; Director, Producer and Writer of The Great Banquet; Director/ Producer and Co-writer of Time of Confusion; Director / Producer of My Fault; Director & Writer of Common Night; Director / CoProducer and Editor of Dream House; Producer / 1st Assistant Director Falling For You; Assistant Director of J; Assistant Director of Elvis the Legend Continues; Assistant Director of Flashback; Assistant Director of Ronnie’s Bench; Director / Co-Producer He Was Here; Editor and Secondary Camera for the TV series, Baby Days with Spell Bound Productions; Producer of The Ken & Lois Show with Rogers Television; Stage Manager for Problem Child with Ausable Theatre and Stage Manager of Juno and the Paycock with UWO. Matthew also worked for four seasons with the Port Stanley Festival Theatre, two seasons as Production Manager and two seasons as Stage Manager. In his two seasons as Stage Manager his show credits include; Hank Williams: The Show He Never Gave; Maggie’s Getting Married; Dark Deeds at Swan’s Place; and Ivanka Chews the Fat and ASM of Personals as well as Production Stage Manager and ASM of Broadway Hero’s starring David Rogers. As Production Manager show credits included; Steel Magnolias; Marriage is Murder, Familiar Circles; Noel & Gertie; Forever Plaid; Long Weekend; Hank & Pasty; Driving Miss Daisy; Fingers & Toes and Deluxe Illustrated Body.
DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT During filming the cast and crew got a glimpse of the very real issue of cell phones and mobile devices and how “Connected” we are to them. This sparked a discussion about how connected we are to our devices and yet we are disconnected from family, moral values and relationships. Tuned In is relevant and timely in society today as it explores issues of teens being connected to social media and their electronic devices but not connected to family and other personal relationships. Society seems to be oblivious to the fact that there is an issue with a generation that will not look up from their electronic mobile devices. The majority of the population, under the age of forty check their smart phones compulsively, especially teens and the twenty something generation. Yet these same people are becoming less and less connected through personal relationships to family and friends. Cell phones are this powerful computer that gives us constant information; the new, the interesting and unpredictable. We feel rewarded with every Facebook post, text and new tweet. It’s like a drug and as with any drug over time, overuse can be destructive. It isolates us from the world around us. These are the issues and themes that Emma deals with as she takes her journey from being grounded from electronic devices and as her parents attempt to teach her about personal relationships.
