Darry can tell who walked into the house depending on the sound of the door. Every member of the gang has an entrance that can be very easily missed.

Dally slams the door open and doesn't bother to close it behind him.

Steve opens the door and then slams it behind him, then goes to bother whoever is closest.

Johnny is almost always following someone so if the door stays open a bit longer and is quietly shut then Johnny has followed them in.

Two-Bit is similar to Steve except he dusts off his shoes. His mama always gets onto him tracking dirt so it's a habit.

Ponyboy quietly opens the door and shuts it behind him and usually calls out a I'm home. Or he's completely quiet except for the fact he stomps without realizing it.

Sodapop is almost always excited when he gets home so he accidentally slams the door into the wall and apologizes. He also usually announces he's home.

Darry just wishes they would stop slamming the door, it hurts the door and he's not exactly itching to fix the hinges.

I finally decided to write a one-shot for an AU I've had cooking for a while. I do not condone anything in the District!AU. You can find more information on the District!AU on it's own on my other blog: @welcome-to-the-districts One-shot under the cut.

Descpription: Dallas has taken an interest in the culture of the rolling stock, learning more and more about their way of life every day. He begins to realize he and them have more in common than previously thought..

Dallas stood on the tips of his toes on the step stool as he watched with fascination as the great humanoid steam and diesel hybrid filled out the paperwork on her desk. She dipped her crimson claws into the ink. The thick black substance oozed from her claws like blackened blood before she gently tapped the excess ink off of her claws before she set her claws to the paper. Her claws almost gracefully glided across the paper as she etched the symbols that were the written language of the rolling stock with relative ease. It was so odd to see such a thing. Her claws carving their language into the paper. He could only imagine the things she had seen and recorded from the years past. 

It was so odd for him to be the only one out of the entire gang to be able to understand the mindset and the culture of these massive, feral, yet civilized beasts. He found these creatures to be absolutely fascinating. He was used to being able to rely on his wits, agility and strength to survive out in the streets, so he had a somewhat better understanding of their logic. Yet, the animalistic side was the most intriguing side of the rolling stock. They walked a very fine line between man and beast and built a civilization and culture around it with their own laws and customs. 

Amira, the hybrid beside him, was a great beast of lethal proportions. Her body rippled with muscle with a generous layer of fat on her belly. Her eyes were sharp and focused, predatory even and were red as the blood he had grown so used to seeing out in the streets during fights. Her skin was dark and tough. He recalled how his switchblade wouldn’t even make a dent in the hides of the rolling stock, which made them far more dangerous and formidable than anything he had encountered before. It was unnatural. It disturbed him at first, but he grew to take a liking to these powerful monsters. His gaze rested on her strong arms, which were covered in black metal plates that were polished to perfection and rivets that were red as blood held them in place. Each metal plate overlapped with one another, reminding him of the scales of a great dragon, like the ones in the books Ponyboy loved to read. The metal plating covered the entirety of her arms, chest and belly, giving her an extra means of protection in her more vulnerable areas.

She wore a crimson leather jacket and two chains, one draped across her chest and another across her waist. Both jingled with every step she took, meaning she was heard before she was seen. 

Her piercing gaze rested on Dallas, studying him before she let out a dismissive snort before she returned her attention to her work. Smoke billowed from her nostrils in thick black clouds. Dallas couldn’t help but feel so small and insignificant compared to her. Yet, he knew she wouldn’t harm him if he didn’t do anything ill advised by others, or even herself. 

“What are you writing?” Dallas asked, finally breaking the silence between them. Amira paused her writing and she wiped her claws clean on a cloth, revealing the glossy natural crimson color of her natural weaponry once more.

“I’m writing the daily report. It’s required in order for us to ensure our defenses are as strong as we claim them to be. We have to be sure of it and be able to prove such things.” Amira replied. Her voice had an English accent and her voice was one that demanded respect. She spoke like a Shakespearean actor, weaving her words carefully with that silver tongue of hers, yet she had the professionalism of a politician. It was an odd combination but it certainly had its charm. 

Despite this she never spoke down to anyone at all. She treated those around her not as those below her, but as equal peers. She helped to forge this civilization through blood, sweat, tears, determination and the idea of creating a city of not just civilized beings, but a city of animals. There were no true villains here, only beasts letting their natural instincts run free, embracing themselves completely rather than being fearful of the consequences. 

“I see.. I have a question..” Dallas dared to meet her gaze. He couldn’t help but feel as if he were a rabbit standing before a great wolf, at the mercy of a powerful apex predator. Amira nodded and gestured for him to speak with a gesture of her hand.

“Go on, speak your mind.” Amira sat down in the large ornate chair next to him. The chains jingled as she sat down.

“Why did you choose me as a student? You chose me out of everyone else, even other rolling stock. Why choose a human over your own kind?” Dallas asked. Amira’s face softened to a gentle smile, putting her sharp teeth on display. Dallas felt a knot in his stomach as he swallowed nervously at the sight. It was a stark reminder of what she is, a predator, and humans are prey to such beasts. 

“Humanity discriminates. Nature does not. We are equal to animals, each of us fighting tooth and claw physically or metaphorically for our survival. Whether it be for food, territory, or even wealth and resources, we all fight for such things. Humans may think they are superior to us, to animals, yet, they are not. They are blind to such things. Take the gang you are with, for example. You both fight tooth and claw to defend each other and to put territory disputes to rest, just as how certain animals do. I chose you because you understood it much more than the rest. You fought tooth and claw for survival on your own, relying on your strengths, adapting to the environment.” Amira replied. The humanoid hybrid had an odd philosophy, yet it clicked with something deep within his very being. He had seen the worst of humanity, seeing how they are, in a sense, animals in their own right, unpredictable, relying on instinct to survive. 

He  slowly nodded, letting her words sink in before he spoke.

“Ah.. I.. think I get it now. You know that I saw what you know is right. It goes further than you guys. Humans do it too, fighting with each other for food, shelter, everything.. I grew used to seeing it and understood it.” Dallas said. Amira nodded.

“Exactly, now, since you’ve taken interest in our written language, I think you might be ready to learn how to write in our language. I plan on teaching the rest on this topic as well.. with some patience and determination, each of you can finally understand what’s being etched into the paper with our claws. I know the youngest of your.. gang, will take great interest, as I noticed he was looking at the books in the study. But for now, I’d rather educate you on it first. It’ll be easier on us all.” Amira stood up. The leather chair squeaked and her chains jingled again before she skated over towards her desk and pulled a chair up to it before helping Dallas into the seat before she sat down in the chair beside him. She dipped her claws into the ink once more and smiled warmly.

“Now.. where do we begin?” She jeered.

Being an OG fan is something special, it’s such and amazing cast and I’m so happy we all get such fun inside jokes and experiences! I hope we can all see it one day :,)

do you ever think about how we’re in the golden age of the outsiders musical? I’ve never really gotten into a musical while it’s still on Broadway, especially not with its obc, and it’s just so so special. theres something incredible thinking about how in years there’ll be kids getting into the show, watching old soc Saturdays on YouTube, and they’ll never know the feeling of finding out that Daryl was making his dally debut in a couple of hours, or the sorrow when we found out that k cso was leaving, or the sheer joy of watching the outsiders win all of its Tony’s in real time, or the collective fandom freak out when parry was talked about on live for the first time!!! Theres just something so special about watching this fandom grow in real time, and I feel so lucky to be a part of it.

Headcanon request for The Boys' favorite foods/meals?

The Boys' Favorite Foods/Meals ☻

Annie January (Starlight)

Steak de Burgo. It's a beef tenderloin either topped with or marinated in butter, garlic, and herbs, and is an intrinsically Iowan meal that started in her hometown, Des Moines, and reminds her of all the best things about home. She has really fond memories of going to the Dallas County Fair with her friends and mother and enjoying some with some Coca-Cola. The meal made everything feel OK and normal, and continues to do so for her now.

Billy Butcher

Pastrami sandwiches. Growing up halfway down from a kosher deli in the heavily Jewish community of London's East End, he and Lenny would often find comfort in spending late hours there eating sandwiches and matzoh ball soup when their father was in his worst moments. Still, he's mostly distanced himself from the memories that come with the dish; the guy just really likes pastrami sandwiches, and will devour even the biggest, meatiest thing of it in one minute tops. It's slightly concerning and always ends in acid reflux.

Frenchie

New York style pizza, specifically with marina, mozzarella, and basil. Unlike most of The Boys, Frenchie doesn't have many memories attached to it, but that's what he likes about it — it's entirely separate from his past life (to this day, the guy can't eat pelmeni because it reminds him of Little Nina). He knows all the best spots in town, and actually has several Yelp accounts dedicated to rating pizza. He has several because his usage of colorful language has gotten him banned.

Hughie Campbell

Grilled cheese and tomato soup. He's been eating it ever since he was a kid; it started with his mom making it, then his dad, and then him, so it's a huge comfort dish for him. While his go-to answer would, of course, be grilled cheese and tomato soup, Hughie also has a guilty pleasure for grilled cheese and Spaghetti-O's, which he has at least once a week. He's a big carb guy.

Kimiko Miyashiro

OK, bear with me: McDonald's cheeseburgers. As much as Frenchie expanded her palate (she's got a special fondness for margherita pizzas), she loves McDonald's cheeseburgers due to them being the first thing she ate once she left the Shining Light Liberation Army. Specifically, she likes a plain McDonald's cheeseburger with extra cheese dipped into a medium McFlurry. Do not judge. Our girl has been through enough.

Marvin T. Milk (Mother's Milk)

Pecan salad, typically with a sweet vinaigrette. It's very specific, but when M.M. was a broke SUNY student trying to stay healthy, he would fuck up a good chicken pecan salad from the nearby SuperFresh. You know how if you have too much of something, you get sick of it? M.M., a creature of habit, is not that type of guy. It's become a meme in the office to see how many times he comes in with a damn pecan salad (or a green chia smoothie, which almost won over the salad).

SO, WHO IS THE SONG MINE ABOUT?

A couple of years ago I read this comment on r/Taylor Swift about Taylor dating a non famous guy who attended Belmont University.

I started college in Nashville in 2010, and the semester before I started, it was well known that Taylor was seeing a guy who lived on campus. It never made headlines because he wasn’t a celebrity like her other relationships. I have seen lots of random explanations for “Mine,” but many students at the university always assumed it was about this guy because the timeline fit.

At the time, I didn't think much of it. I thought that it could've been possible but still, the theory of Mine being about Cory Monteith made more sense to me.

While I was writing the Speak Now Timeline, one of the most important interviews was the Billboard one:

"Mine" was a turning point in the album’s development. It wasn’t until early 2010 when the album truly began to coalesce. Swift presented "Mine" to Borchetta in his office, just a few doors down the hall from the leather couch in the lobby. "We probably played that song four or five times," Borchetta recalls. "I’m jumping around playing air guitar, she’s singing the song back to me, and it was just one of those crazy, fun, Taylor teen-age moments." And then it got serious. "I said, ‘Keep going,’ " Borchetta says. "She kind of looked at me like, ‘You’re challenging me.’ And I said, ‘Yeah. You’ve found true north here. Keep going.’ " It was some time in the period after that challenge — between February and June — that Swift wrote “Innocent,” her response to the Kanye West incident.

That settled it then, no? Mine was written in late February, after Taylor had returned from Tokyo.

My certainties crumbled a few weeks ago, when @1989worldtour sent me an interview where Taylor says that she wrote Mine on the road, specifically in Texas.

Back To December was written in New York City, The Story Of Us was in Nashville, I wrote Mine somewhere on the road, I think in Texas, actually. (X)

Taylor was in Texas on March 10th (in Austin), March 11th (Dallas), and March 12th (Corpus Christi) for the Fearless Tour. At first, this didn't make any sense to me: Taylor had said that she wrote Mine in February! Then again, she often misremembers dates. I had shelved this date in my mind until I randomly found this comment on r/Fauxmoi while I was researching Starlight and the Kennedy craze Taylor went through.

She dated a guy from Belmont I think because a family friend went there and was friends with him and was there the night they met! “By the water” in Mine is apparently about Mozarts - a coffee shop in Austin on the water where they went on a date. I have no way to verify this because it didn’t happen to me but the family friend had pics with Taylor and stuff because of this guy she was friends with who dated Taylor. This might be the only piece of celeb gossip I’ve ever known haha.

Reply: This is true! He's now married with kids and not at all famous.

The return of the Belmont guy! We have two other sources claiming that she dated a non-famous person who attended Belmont. The mention of Texas cemented the fact that there might be a kernel of truth in this theory. At this point, I took this rumor seriously and chose to investigate further. the next question was, if Belmont is in Nashville and the Mozart bar is in Texas, didn't the guy miss a lot of classes? The answer is... no. If you look at the Belmont Academic Calendar, guess when Spring Break was? From March 8th to March 15th! So even if the guy was in college, he didn't miss any classes. There's was plenty of time for him to fly to Texas, attend the show, going on a date at the Mozart bar and then fly back to Nashville.

There's another problem though: according to the Billboard interview, Taylor brought Mine to Scott Borchetta in late February. We don't actually have a direct quote from Taylor or Borchetta saying that it was February. It could be Taylor or Scott misremembering, It could be the journalist inferring (it has happened before, for example on this Rolling Stone article from 2009, where the author said that Love Story and White Horse were for the same person, for some weird reason). After all, late February and early March aren't that far away. Nathan Chapman, the producer of the song, said that they worked on Mine on and off for 4 months. They finished it on July 21st, so March 10th still tracks.

Now, let's look at the actual bar. on the left, we have a screenshot from the Music Video, while on the right, a picture of the Mozart Bar. they look very similar to me, but I admit that I've never been to the USA, so maybe coffee shops all look the same?

Fun fact: The Mozart bar confirmed that she has been there in May 2013, after the Red Tour show.

Conclusions: Honestly, I believe those people on Reddit, but I realise that the sources are very unstable. What makes me believe it though, is the obscure mention of Mine being written in Texas, and the person on Reddit revealing that they had a date at a bar that casually is by the water. It fits perfectly. I don't have any more to say for now, but it's possible that I'll write a post of how Mine is one of the first post John Mayer song and how that relationship affected the themes of her songwriting.

P.S.: I would advise not contacting these people on Reddit. it's obvious that they're friends with him/know him and they wouldn't say anything to help identifying him. plus, it's not our place to gather information about a person that wants anonymity. it's not cool to doxx random people.

This so true though!!!! I've written a lot about Dally's good traits and NOT to justify him or anything. Bro has done some :O things. BUT THE CHARACTERS PEOPLE LUMP INTO BEING INNOCENT DO THE SAME THINGS?!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Specifically Soda is who I'm gonna call out. A lot of people lump him into being a sunshine guy but he is known to be friends with Dallas and get up the same stuff as him! Is he a very sweet and happy person? Yeah, he def is. But he's also a greaser who causes some trouble!

So there’s something to be said about the age thing but what about the demonization? Dally gets the brunt of it when a good portion of the book is dedicated to pony going “oh he was my friend, he’s alright.” But a lot of people tend to act like he’s the literal anti christ.

Darry does get a lot of demonization/mischarecterization too but it’s definitely to a far lesser extent as people clarify more openly? I guess.

This isn’t me “defending his actions” (whatever that means because apparently to a lot of people that is just not thinking he’s irredeemable) just that his actions are blown out of the water to the point I don’t think people know what they’re mad at?

I think it stems from Dally being the coldest and meanest of the boys- he only breaks down in the end. He’s the most “bad boy” of a group of bad boys he breaks the law for fun etc. but this also goes into how a chunk of the fandom tends to ignore a lot of the gang do the same thing!

-> they get into fights, rob gas stations, get arrested, do drag races, harass and do wild shit against the rules or the law…. Sully the name of the good city but boy do they have fun.

All dally does is take things to their extreme as in the scene with Cherry you can see when it switches from flirting to harassment (giggling turns to anger)

Getting mad at him for this particularly but not the others feels almost hypocritical, pony talks about how if anyone else was there they would’ve joined in on cat calling and dirty talk (pony even admits himself but he has a stopping point. He teases girls he’s familar with)

Hell! This is ignoring Twobit in the movies “Hey baby, wanna see what’s hanging?” And lifting skirts.

I’m not saying this is an alright thing to do but I’m coming from the context of the time period normalizing certain behavior, character and place in the story. (Just because we know something doesn’t mean they do etc).

A lot of seems to be getting mad at a “bad boy”  archetype for being a “bad boy” archetype and ignoring others behavior. Also something something charecters can’t be complex now have to have complete moral purity.

Now if you interpret this and lump me in with people glorifying his behavior because he’s hot please read this again. 😭🙏 I like him for what he is alright. He’s fascinating.

Dallas really liked taking photos

While he was roaming the US he ran an errand for this guy at a nicer store and in return the man gave him an older but still nice camera. At first he was like "What the heck man?! Why would I need this?!" But he started making good use of it. When he wasn't stressed about where to go next, he found the most scenic places and snapped a picture. Something about it was cool to him. Being able to find a moment in time that he could freeze forever. He started finding places to get them developed and stuffing them in an old notebook. (How he managed to pay for it or swindle the store is up to you)

When he made it to Tulsa he took a lot less photos. It wasn't exactly a pretty place and he didn't have much use for photos of the streets. But once he became a part of the gang, that changed. In particularly interesting moments he would quietly snap a picture and get them developed if he could (Things like Soda and Steve having gymnastics competitions, Two-Bit trying to hang on the ceiling fan, etc) The gang eventually found out and encouraged him. At first he kept pulling the "Well I have it, might as well make use of it." card whenever Soda or Johnny would ask about it. If Mr. Curtis said something about a career in photography, Dally would brush him off and say something like "It'd just be a waste of money, I'm no good at it anyway."

Then for his 15th birthday, the gang all got him smaller gifts. This was because altogether (With the help of the Curtis parents) they got him a bigger, main gift. Dallas had never celebrated his birthday before or ever gotten gifts so he was kind of confused at first. Then they revealed it to him. A brand new camera and a case to come with it. He thanked them for it and though he didn't show it to them, he was ecstatic. The first photo he took was to test it out and was of the gang and the Curtis parents all in the living room together. It's one of his favorites.

All the photos have 3 things. The date it was taken, his initials, and a little note about them. The notes range from just simple titles to "After this, Steve almost slipped off the roof and Soda fell into a tree."

He has 2 different albums now. One smaller one compiled of nature and stuff when he was traveling around. And a really thick one full of photos of the gang and things he found interesting. After he died, they were both moved to the Curtis house. They all flip through it whenever they miss Dally and Johnny.

Japanese Media that Helped Me Come Out

Hey, I wanted to make a post about the shows and movies from Japan that really helped me come to terms with my identity and made me more comfortable with coming out (even if I had a few early aborted comings out before I had real support). Before I begin, a special shoutout has to be given to Ranma 1/2, the first anime I ever saw that involved gender changing content.

I think one of the first foundationally important bits of media for me was Sailor Moon, the original animated series. Or more specifically season 5, Bishouji Senshi Sailor Moon Sailor Stars. This is a series I watched shortly after the episodes aired in four episode blocks at a time on rented VHS tapes from a local Japanese Electronics Store in Dallas, Texas. (R.I.P. Orbit Electronics).

For those not familiar with the series, this season introduces three major new heroic characters, the Sailor Starlights. In their civilian identities they are a boys idol group called The Three Lights and go by the names Seiya, Yaten and Taiki but in their heroic identities they are three women named Sailor Star Fighter, Sailor Star Healer and Sailor Star Maker.

The idea of three women hiding themselves in the guise of men was so fascinating to me and spoke to something deep down inside of me. This may be the reason why Sailor Stars is the series I decided to purchase on Laserdisc back when it was coming out.

The second major anime series from this time that was foundational for my exploration of who I am was 1997's Shoujo Kakumei Utena.

This is a series all about defying societal expectations especially of gender roles and sexuality. It's an amazing if sometimes very couched in metaphor and symbolism coming of age story about a young woman who refuses to conform to her expected role and seeks to become a Prince to defend others. It also contains dialogue like this:

Which, if you are familiar with Trans terminology just holds so much extra meaning. For those who do not know, trans people who have not come out yet are often referred to as eggs, as in they have not come out of their shell yet. Lastly is probably both the most obvious and most ridiculous entry here. the 1999 Rock and Roll, Zombie, Alien Invasion film Wild Zero. This is a movie about the rock band Guitar Wolf, their biggest fan Ace and a zombie apocalypse started by aliens (think Plan 9 from Outer Space but somehow even more wild and ridiculous and with an amazing soundtrack). In the movie, Ace meets and falls in love with a beautiful girl named Tobio.

However, as Ace discovers, Tobio has a penis. This causes him to have a bit of a crisis until his idol, Guitar Wolf appears before him in a bathroom to bestow these words of wisdom upon him.

So yeah, this movie helped me in some very strange ways when it came to accepting who I really am, even if it took YEARS for me to finally crack my shell for real and come out publicly. So, thanks for reading this and thanks for all of your support.

story:

Iggy, Tohru, or Custom Worker is on fall break and heads to Mintport (which is based on Dallas by the way, albeit the coastal location) to enjoy the main attractions there. A few weeks have passed, and they’re ready to head back to Starlight City/Burgerburgh. Unfortunately, with extreme winter weather raging near, and freakishly early for the time, their flight home is canceled, and there likely won’t be any other flights cheap enough.

Iggy/Tohru/CW leaves the airport, with no hotel to stay at. Fortunately, close to downtown’s Basil Park, is Papa's Bowleria, open for Christmas, and with lots of tourists stranded like them, Papa Louie is looking for extra hands. Left with no choice, Iggy/Tohru/CW walks in, immediately looking for the man himself.

Fortunately, he IS there, but because there’s so many stranded people in Mintport, Papa Louie will have to work with helping them instead. As such, he gives you/know/who the job, with the promises of essential amenities until they can finally catch a flight home, which happens at Rank 60 as usual.

At Papa's Bowleria, you serve Buddha bowls (those cool instagram protein bowls), albeit called Papa Bowls, and flavored lemonades. You choose the base (rice, quinoa, whatever), the toppings, and the meat, and also the lemonade (size, amount of ice, added flavor).

la efímera ronda de capacidades en medio del salón en la cúspide de la torre VOUGHT, transcurre bajo el velo de tensión que solo podía competir con la muralla de nubes negras que comenzaban a asomarse del este de la ciudad. la pantalla deja atrás su reporte del clima de la cadena VOUGHT cuando la asistente CATE DUNLAP enseña los expedientes de los estudiantes. fotografías, nombres, poderes, ranking, e incluso sus resultados de tutoría. todos allí dejan las primeras elecciones a HOMELANDER, pero este termina dejandole a QUEEN MAEVE la tarea sin demasiado interés. BLACK NOIR guarda silencio y es SILVER KINCAID quien elige junto a STARLIGHT y SUPERSONIC, con A-TRAIN entrando al salón y trayendo comida solo para él . los grupos son elegidos, CATE DUNLAP se acerca a los estudiantes para activar los sistemas en sus trajes, dejandoles los archivos de sus nuevas misiones para antes de retirarse poder decirles : no dañen los trajes, o no los podremos encontrar. - sonríe. desde ahora, están bajo las órdenes de los SIETE.
