Over the Nexus Deck Profile: Disaster Dragon
Disaster Dragon is a hybrid aggro-control deck, combining the sheer power of dragons with floodgates both draconic and generic, with the goal of overwhelming the opponent with sheer oppressive might. While not as immediately explosive as Dragon Turbo (my Three-Pronged Dragon deck), it compensates by being far more durable and methodical. The flagship monster of the deck, besides the universally good Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, is Light and Darkness Dragon, whose power is all-encompassing. LADD negates any and all activated effects from both players, which means if it's summoned when you're at an advantageous position, it can lock up the game for you and more or less guarantee victory. It has its weaknesses, as cards like Quickdraw Synchron can activate their effects over and over to reduce LADD to a weak vanilla, but its power is undeniable and commands respect. LADD isn't the only trick this deck plays; Exploder Dragon keeps your opponent off of any powerful monsters, while REDMD can recycle it over and over. Koa'ki Meiru Drago stops LIGHT and DARK strategies in their tracks, which can be bad for us since we play our own LIGHT and DARK monsters, but a key trick with this deck is learning to not pay the cost to keep Drago on the field, so that you can special summon freely and bring back Drago with REDMD when you're done. Royal Oppression, while limited, is downright terrifying when played in an advantageous position, capable of cementing your victory similarly to REDMD. This is probably my favorite Edison deck, and it's one of my favorite OTN decks too! Here's the list: MONSTERS (20): Delta Flyer x1 Dread Dragon x3 Exploder Dragon x1 Koa'ki Meiru Drago x3 Light and Darkness Dragon x2 Masked Dragon x3 Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon x3 Red-Eyes Wyvern x3 Totem Dragon x1 SPELLS (10): Dark Hole x1 Dragon Ravine x3 Future Fusion x1 Gold Sarcophagus x2 Monster Reborn x1 Mystical Space Typhoon x2 TRAPS (10): Call of the Haunted x1 Dimensional Prison x2 Mirror Force x1 Royal Oppression x1 Solemn Judgment x1 Solemn Warning x2 Starlight Road x1 Torrential Tribute x1 EXTRA DECK: Five-Headed Dragon x1 Ally of Justice Catastor x1 Black Rose Dragon x1 Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier x1 Colossal Fighter x1 Exploder Dragonwing x1 Goyo Guardian x1 Magical Android x1 Red Dragon Archfiend x1 Red Nova Dragon x1 Scrap Dragon x1 Stardust Dragon x1 Thought Ruler Archfiend x1 Trident Dragion x1 Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier x1

{SONIC THE HEDGEHOG} "Story/Plot Summary [3rd Rough Draft] (For © KatarinaTheCat)
"THE DEATH EGG SAGA"
Part I: The Prelude Arc
The genesis of the Death Egg saga can be dated back to the start of the South Island incident, when Eggman, frustrated by his constant defeats, learned of the six Chaos Emeralds resting on South Island and carried out a massive invasion of the island to use them to conquer the earth. The doctor kidnapped all of the local Animals to use them as power sources for his robot army of "Badniks", and built his fortress, the Scrap Brain, as a base of operations. However, Sonic heard of the invasion and rushed to South Island to save it. After facing hundreds of Eggman's robots and the doctor himself at various points, the hedgehog made it to the Scrap Brain with the six Chaos Emeralds in his hands and defeated Eggman one final time, bringing peace back to the island. He then released the gems, which filled the areas there with flora before being flying off to West Side Island along with a seventh Emerald.
Part II: Little Planet Arc
In what became known as the Little Planet incident, Dr. Eggman learned of the appearance of Little Planet - a mystical planetoid that appears over the earth's Never Lake region once every year - and the seven Time Stones that were resting there that were said to be capable of controlling time itself. Coveting these stones to conquer the world, he trapped the planetoid inside of a nasty metallic shield that was chained to one of the mountains in Never Lake. Eggman then sent his Badniks to Little Planet to wreak havoc. These events caused the future of the planet to be a desolate wasteland ruined with pollution and machinery.
Upon learning of his nemesis' actions, Sonic traveled to Little Planet, where he learned that he could undo Eggman's operations by going back to the past and destroying a "robot transporter" there. A while after his arrival, he met Amy Rose - a female hedgehog deeply in love with him - who got kidnapped by Metal Sonic, a deadly robot created by the doctor to counter Sonic's abilities. Making his way through Little Planet's regions, Sonic liberated them from his adversary's control, resulting in "good futures" with harmony and peace. Upon arriving at the Stardust Speedway city, the hedgehog encountered Eggman and Metal Sonic, the latter of whom challenged him into a deadly race. When he won, Sonic rescued Amy and then freed Little Planet from the scientist's control when he destroyed the doctor's Metallic Madness base.
Part III: Death Egg Deployment Arc
Following these victories, Sonic boarded his biplane, the Tornado, and left off in search for adventures, eventually finding West Side Island and going to rest there, not knowing that Eggman was following him. Soon after landing on the island, the doctor kidnapped the local Animals for his Badniks to find the seven Chaos Emeralds that were said to be resting there according to legend. The villain's plan was to use the gems as a power source for his newest orbital weapon/space station: the Death Egg. Meanwhile, Sonic met Miles "Tails" Prower, a young fox with two tails and a great passion for machines, and the two quickly became best friends.
A few days later, when Eggman began to terrorize West Side Island's regions to find the Chaos Emeralds, Sonic and Tails set out to stop him. While making their way through the island's various areas, the duo collected the seven Emeralds and had numerous encounters with the doctor. With the gemstones in his hands, Sonic was also able to attain a Super transformation - Super Sonic - for the first time. Eventually, the heroes boarded the Tornado to chase after the scientist in his Wing Fortress battleship. However, an ensuing assault caused the biplane to be heavily damaged and begin to fall off, thus forcing Sonic to continue on his own. After bringing the warship down, the hedgehog saw Eggman escape in a space rocket to outer space. Fortunately, Tails returned with a repaired Tornado and helped Sonic grab ahold of the doctor's rocket. Soon after, the hedgehog found himself boarding the Death Egg, which had been finished and launched with no Chaos Emeralds. Following a showdown between Sonic and Eggman, who was piloting his Death Egg Robot mech, a chain-reaction caused the Death Egg to begin exploding, forcing the hedgehog to go back to the earth as Super Sonic, where he reunited with Tails as the space station was seemingly destroyed.
Part IV: Angel Island Arc
In the "Angel Island incident", it turned out that the Death Egg had actually not been destroyed; following the previous events, it began falling into the earth's atmosphere and collided with a floating landmass known as Angel Island. This crash of catastrophic proportions caused the island to fall into the surface of the ocean, resulting in massive tsunamis around the world. Having survived this calamity, Eggman detected energy fields of the Master Emerald. Wanting to use this powerful gem to relaunch his space station, the scientist began kidnapping Animals for his Badniks yet again. Eventually, he came across Knuckles the Echidna, the guardian of this massive Emerald, and falsely claimed that he was a kind scientist who was researching the Death Egg's crash and that Sonic was coming for the Master Emerald. Falling for Eggman's lies, Knuckles promised to help him drive Sonic off the island upon his arrival.
Days after the Death Egg's crash, Tails caught a strong Chaos Emerald signal on his Emerald Detector, while Sonic found a Ring that gave him an unexplainable desire to go to Angel Island. When the two arrived at the island using the Tornado, however, Knuckles ambushed them with a cheap shot from below, causing them to lose the Chaos Emeralds, which the echidna picked up and ran off with. Soon after, the heroes began making their way through the floating island's various regions, recollecting the Emeralds along the way. Despite facing countless setbacks, they eventually made it to the Launch Base, where the Death Egg was undergoing the last few repairs, and got onboard the station just as it began taking off. There, they faced various of Eggman's most powerful mechs. Despite the odds, the doctor was again defeated, and the Death Egg - due to the battle having taken place during a critical point of its launch - crashed back onto Angel Island's volcano, Lava Reef, while Sonic and Tails landed on Mushroom Hill.
Part V: Sonic & Knuckles Arc
Knowing that the Death Egg would soon be relaunched yet again, Sonic and Tails continued their adventure across Angel Island while resisting various setbacks from Knuckles and Eggman. Eventually, they discovered a "Super Ring" which led them to the Master Emerald's altar at the Hidden Palace that upgraded their Chaos Emeralds into the very powerful Super Emeralds. When the heroes collected these enhanced Emeralds, Sonic became able to attain a Hyper transformation - called Hyper Sonic, an even more powerful version of Super Sonic. After boarding Eggman's Flying Battery, Sonic and Tails landed at Sandopolis, where they made their way to the Lava Reef. At the heart of this area, the doctor activated the Death Egg's laser eyes, causing the volcano to become active. After managing to escape from this place, the duo entered the Hidden Palace, where they had a confrontation with Knuckles. However, their encounter was interrupted when they saw Eggman steal the Master Emerald despite the echidna's best attempts to prevent this. Without the Emerald where it belonged, Angel Island began falling down. Realizing that he had been tricked, Knuckles guided Sonic and Tails to the celestial Sky Sanctuary, where they had several battles against the scientist's Mecha Sonic Mk. II before barely boarding the Master Emerald-powered Death Egg which was leaving the atmosphere.
Along Sonic and Tails' path was a space station full of traps, Badniks, and dangerous areas. After overcoming these hazards, the duo faced Eggman's Giant Eggman Robo, powered by the Master Emerald itself. When this massive mech was destroyed, the doctor tried to escape one last time with the massive Emerald in his Egg Mobile, as the Death Egg itself finally crumbled and got completely destroyed, but his attempts ended in vain. Afterwards, Sonic transformed into Hyper Sonic and gave chase to the mad scientist, who was using his Final Weapon in a last-ditch effort to escape with the massive gem, in outer space. The hedgehog defeated Eggman, retrieved the Master Emerald and, along with Tails, returned it back to Angel Island, which began ascending into the sky again. After this showdown, the Death Egg saga came to a close.

Finally got an actual ref of the teeny twins, Jenn's stardust babies, Twii and Laa (if you get the name reference, ily)
As they don't speak, they communicate solely in facial expressions, small noises and body language. Their faces are elaborate liquid LED displays; they cannot eat.
Twii is the friendlier of the two while Laa, if she had teeth, would probably bite most people. They have very cat-like personalities, particularly Laa, however Jenn doesn't know if they were originally made that way or not, as they were salvages. Who they belonged to and what they were for is unknown; because Jenn rescued and repaired them, they are extremely loyal to her--though not without its hiccups. Laa spent a long while being prickly and refusing contact or command while Twii would only approach Jenn when she wasn't looking and run to a hiding spot if spotted.
"The things that people throw away have never astounded or surprised me, but sometimes it does sicken me. The scrapyard under Ralta always gets weird stuff in it, I go there for parts because the city, for some ill-begotten reason, thinks that dumping battery holsters, capacitors, loose cables, electro-etherylle converters and the week's leftovers in the same area won't have some form of consequences--but it's way easier to get those parts when no one cares about a random girl rooting through the garbage, so I don't complain. Cheaper, too.
"But I've never seen anyone throw out a fully-functional bot before.
"At first, I thought I was hallucinating, or the zirats had learned to sing, but after a few moments of wandering, I saw it. A pink blip of color on top of a pile of sheet metal and rotten peels, crying its heart out. It must have seen me because in a blink, it was running at me, screaming and turning circles like it wanted me to follow. I had a hunch that it was running low on power if it was running--it didn't take a genius to figure out it was a Stardust and that it wasn't flying because it was either hurt or critically low on energy.
"At least, it explained that one... what it was leading me to was another story. After shoving the scrap aside and squinting through the garbage, I saw it, in a heap between bags of miscellaneous junk--another Stardust. Darkly colored, unmoving, its facial screen cracked and horrifically empty from the liquid display having leaked out ages ago. Getting closer, I also realized their little outfits were torn with claw marks and other things. Clearly, they'd been here long enough the zirats had tried to eat them at least once.
"The pink one mewled at me, its face blinking in and out with a low power warning, and I felt like it was asking for help. The shock honestly made me hesitate; I got caught trying to figure out why they were there, what had happened, why one was still online... I had an awful feeling about it, but when the pink one finally collapsed I shook off my thoughts and grabbed them both.
"The purple one's body being so limp was... disturbing. But I knew what to do. Aquila was there in moments from where she was circling and I wrapped them up in my zip pouch, gave her the command to take them straight home and put them in the lab, and sent her off.
"Now, I'm rooting through the garbage with purpose, recording myself so I don't wake up thinking I'd hallucinated the entire episode, trying to find parts that might help since nothing at home was suited for such tiny bodies. Also, I don't think its zirats in this dump, and if they are they're thakking huge--"

@mischiefmodig / drabble ! (bc i sure don't trust tumblr to not eat this in submissions)
𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐙𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐒 𝐇𝐀𝐃 taken to the skies above, lighting the darkness with streams of light, Thor had known well that it was a sight he wanted to behold with his brother. So certain was he, after all, that Loki was sequestered away in some far off corner. Likely with his nose in mountains of tomes, toiling away at a chance for breaking their enchantment, and for escape; utterly blind to the beauty of this realm, from the mountains to the snow to the very stars above. Especially for all of his many castigations of the seasonal festivities.
Of course, it was not as if Thor could truly blame him.
The mountains of this Arcanus Isle and their distant snowy peaks reminded him of the highlands of Asgard. Only it was that Thor's eye, for what sight it still bequeathed him, could no longer marvel at the distant heights of their homeland from the tallest spire of the palace. (It nauseated his soul that the marvels of such things were naught but scattered stardust somewhere beyond time, and beyond space.) For this, the gaiety that surrounded them perhaps was but a shallow, fleeting tide. It was not as though it rectified the great gravity of the truth of time. Nor the deep urgency that cut like wind through both sovereign, knowing their people were long elsewhere, traveling across stars that neither could yet reach...
Yes, as Thor found himself surrounded by the festivities of this realm, beckoned into the fold of this planet's people, he found Asgard's absence a thorn that stabbed and ached in his heart. In the faces of the Aercon, he saw the faces of their people that had survived. In the music and boisterous wonder of the surrounding revelry, he found himself reminding himself once and once more again that Asgard remained, even as a pale penumbra of its former might. Perhaps someone wiser might be at peace with that. For had Father not said, as all wise kings (or perhaps as all wise men) might, that Asgard was not a place, it was a people? Thor had once supposed, as the stars had beckoned light upon this realm, that Odin was right.
Yet still did the newest king find himself yearning for more than their lot. His primordial heart beat with the defiance and the pride of an achronic monarchy. One as old as the very farthest reaches of time. And so he found that he was not satisfied with what a wise man might. It was not peace that had drawn what spare fragments of old to his chest with his hands shaking. For although Asgard was a place and a time finite, dead in a shattering of light and cosmic dust.... There were pieces of it that remained.
Loki had been beside him that day.
But what the prince did not know (nor did Thor wish to tell him, so unnerved by the revelries as Loki seemingly remained), was that, unbidden and unspoken, Thor had returned to the Traverse Trove. For Thor had found his ire whet by the fires of a new hope that sparked. He had searched, and in his search he had found small scraps and shambles of Asgardian make. Like lost things, they had found their way back to the hands born to hold them. Mangled and broken, dirties and just barely a form of itself... yet Thor still recognized each piece as his own. (Like him, it had survived. It now persisted.)
It was in this defiance of fate, foolish or impractical as it was, that Thor took up the mangled pieces. In the earliest dawn of the days, he had taken flight to the Trove and searched through the wreckage and rubble. At the end of these long hours, his hands bore the dust and grit and grime of searching high and low through the remnants of distant realms. His knuckles and fingers bore dried blood from the nicking of mortal skin upon twisted scrap metal, but his palms were filled with the sparks of hope that lit his own heart aflame.
It was in a labor of love that his nights had long been spent toiling over the small pieces of Asgard that had defied the odd late into the midnight hours. His hands straightened twisted things, mended shattered wreckage through the heat of flame and sparks of a hammer. His fingers untangled the twisting knots of this once beautiful thing, restoring it to its glory and pride as best as he could. With each passing hour, each cut and bruise, his humble offering.
It was on the last of the nights the stars fell from the sky, as the revelries that had taken the Isle came then, to their swan song, that Thor found the object of his long labor restored.
Thor looked upon it, and saw that it was indeed, good. (And what joy it was to create anew what Death had stolen. —Was that not the nature of rain? To cleanse? To heal? To begin life anew?) Satisfied with at least this small work, Thor had wrapped it carefully and hidden it well, tucked securely in a small satin pouch, and nestled in the sanctity of his inner coat pocket.
...To wrangle the God of Mischief from his abode on this such cheery night was no small fear unto itself. But some small effort of painstaking argument and countermeasure was far worth the strain as Thor beckoned Loki not to the isolation of their rooftops, but to the highest peak of a hillside that overlooked The Clearview District. Here, the wind blew with a cheery fervor, carrying with it the brisk scent of the cold snow that lay in mounds all around them. From here, as vines tangled up the walls of the nearby stairs and overhanging ruins of an age long passed, the skies were clear and theirs to behold.
Blazing lights streaked across the sky, bright even to Thor's eye, and carrying with it the colors of the many galaxies. There was no greys or browns in the display above, but swirling circlets of golds and greens, and such wonders of the universe, unchanged and infinite, balmed the heart of wayward sovereign. (And what more was that, despite all odds, despite all reservations, he shared this sky with Loki at his side. A wish lost over a decade of tribulation now granted as though the stars had heard heart's desperate pleading.)
❝ Loki, ❞ Thor said, turning to his brother as the comets continued their display, ❝ I have something for you. ❞
It was near comical how younger brother's brow did furrow, surprise dawning across his features and nestling deeply within the crease above his nose. "...You have something... for me?" he asked, and Thor found his teeth snagged at the inside of his cheek as he nodded in turn.
❝ Yes. ❞ It was with some childish effort that Thor tried not to smile, and yet the corners of his lips tugged upright into the ghost of it, lingering just a moment as the weight of the gift burned against his breast. ❝ You see, this realm has something of a tradition. One of granting gifts... Or, so I have heard. ❞
"Ah. Yes. That asinine tradition. Something to do with glad tidings and all of this frivolous nonsense. Of course you would want to partake."
For just a second, just a small, inconsequential moment, Thor found his next words tied and knotted in his throat. A tangled web of things yet to say, and within the wake of such reproachful sentiment, Thor found that his words all but unraveled upon his tongue entirely. Sensing Thor's disquiet, Loki settled the bristling quills of himself with a short huff and scuffing turn of his heel through the snow.
"... I said it's asinine not insufferable," he scoffed, and his breath fogged in the space between them. A gesture in the swift, rotating flair of his wrist. "Come then. Do not leave me in suspense, Brother."
Haltingly. ❝ Ah. Yes, ❞ and with the word, his hands procured the small velveteen pouch, just barely as large as the size of Thor's palm, and tied closed with a thin silver twine. No words then were spoken as the weight of the object within was passed from Thor's hands to Loki's. Only a watchful, attentive eye that followed the dip of Loki's gaze as it settled upon the pouch, the slight bounce of the bag as it was weighed with some small curiosity, and the careful undoing of the string as the bag was opened to finally reveal its contents.
A golden sphere surrounded by nine rings, simple in design but ornate in its fixture, for the rings were embossed only with the etchings of runes. One for each of the Nine Realms. To tap upon this sphere was to cast it to unfurl, with each ring rotating above and beside and within one another, each orbiting the center-most sphere - Midgard - at the pace of each of the realm's solar rotations.
The largest ring - Asgard's - was what held this small design securely in place, and upon this outer ring, a fixture where a strong chain should be, but a silver cord (matching the drawstring of the pouch it was kept in) was strung instead.
An Asgardian time keeper.
Pride bloomed in the chest of the brother to bequeath such a fine (and more importantly: working) object. So small, yet it was in itself now a rare and valued treasure. A sacred thing. One that Thor found was enough to find that his breath caught squarely in his throat at the sight, and his eye flickered from the time keeper to the face of the one who could now call the relic its owner.
❝ It was all I could find in the rubble. ❞ He didn't need to state which rubble, or where. ❝ Nor were all of the pieces there in the first place, but it is here, reforged and whole, Brother. Hunkered down in the cold, only one plume of steamy air escaped the pair. Their breath was coming hard from the rugged trek up to the peak. The view from the summit was worth the climb. All around them was moonlit, a vast open valley of evergreen trees and freshly fallen snow. A harsh wind intermittently whipped through, scattering snowflakes like a shimmering flurry of stardust across the land that seemed unsure of how welcome it felt its visitors were. Yet there was a power here. A force that hummed. The solace was palatable. Its unspoiled beauty unlike that of any world of man or beast; speaking of a resilience few could.
Severen smiled, knowing this was the perfect setting. A place for just the two of them. He looks to her pale hand, running his fingers through hers. His palm is cold as always, bearing none of the stiffness of joints or trembling nerves another’s might. He is just as at home in this frozen land as she. Lifting their interwoven fingers up, he rotates her wrist upward and slides his hand away, replacing it with an object wrapped in a scrap of cloth. When revealed, it is a dagger in a leather sheath, dyed a midnight black. A silver moon has been pressed into the center, a delicate pattern of diamond shapes skirting the borders. The handle is carved from a piece of ironwood, the carving good, clean and well sanded, but clearly not the part the craftsman had the most expertise in. Drawn from where it rests, the blade itself steals the show. The polish on the metal-- a bright silver with a dark heart, speaking of a stone fallen from the heavens above-- is so highly glossed that it nearly disappears against the night sky. The edge sings its sharpness, the curve elegant and bearing a keen resemblance to a wing.
“I learned a little from my mama”, he mutters, proud of his work, but feeling humble in the silence between them as she studies her gift. “I know this kin’a thing s’ppose’ta go a little diffrn’ly, with the dagger’n sheath n’all, but”, he reaches to stroke her dark curls, wanting to bury his hands in the sheen of green and violet. “I just wan’td you’da have somethin’ special". Severen gives her a smile that is nearly beatific. He is perfectly at peace, completely open, eyes tranquil and serene. Her presence calms him, at ease in the comfort of who and what she is. How similar they are in nature. His voice is low, quietly in tune with the sacred nature of their surroundings, “Happy Birthday Spark”, he leans in to kiss her, whispering words meant for her alone against her lips, "I love you".

Metal definitely suffers from OVA nostalgia when Heroes came out, though there are some things
-Chaotix manual (Japan) notes that Eggman transfers Metal's AI to new builds. Incidentally, the term "Hyper Metal Sonic" didn't originate from OVA: it came from Chaotix
Though fans mistakenly interpreted too literally (Kai means upgrade or rev. here) for the demonic transformation
This would, if assumed to repeat, mean Metal has to deal with constant failure, and being aware of such, as well as potentially "death"
-In Adventure Metal noticeably is in a tube in the same room Gamma is activated
While it doesn't do anything in stasis, the development of the E Series in the franchise is actually a huge deal; these are newly mass produced robots with utility already eclipsing Metal's, alongside the upper sentience. For once, competition for Metal, and it languishing to nothing if it accepted that. We already see Gamma come to terms with Eggman's narcissism and simple acceptance of scrapping "defective" models for newer builds, despite false praise earlier
-Heroes this is similarly mirrored for Omega. Omega was well aware it was abandoned as guard, and was aware of later E-2000 robots in Egg Fleet. The idea of Eggman just dumping/rejecting earlier bots for newer ones would be daunting to sentient bots. For Omega, this led to anger at its creator, though thanks to Rouge, used incidentally for the heroes
Feelings of inferiority wouldn't even be just to Sonic for Metal at this point...it'd be to Eggman as well
I didn't know that. That's really interesting to think about.
This would, if assumed to repeat, mean Metal has to deal with constant failure, and being aware of such, as well as potentially "death."
I mean... maybe yes, maybe no. This is where I feel the waters start to get muddy and we wander more into conjecture-ish territory.
It would mostly depend on how much sentience we can assign Metal at any given time; Eggman recovers the CPU, but does he wipe it before he upgrades it? Like is it the robot form of recovering the black box following a plane crash? Stuff like that.
In some games, he shows hints of sentience but not much more, which would explain the differences between him and the E-series. In Heroes he's a full-blown person with emoshuns, while in Rivals 2, he's a silent machine with the barest hints of sentience sprinkled here and there. And in TSR he's just. A walking toaster. So.
Again, the key word is "assumption." Metal has that weird line in the Overlord fight about how he's "no longer afraid of anything," so we have to assume he once felt fear; the most important questions become when, what, and how?
Did he learn to fear death after his defeat in CD? So then, why would he fear it if he knows Eggman can revive him at any time? That would imply he fears Eggman as well, which may be an interesting idea, true. But again, because none of the games hint at anything of the sort, it's pure conjecture on my part.
Also, now that I'm thinking about it: does this imply Chaotix takes place after Sonic 4: Episode Metal? It has to, since the Chaotix manual implies Eggman recovered Metal's CPUs after "a" previous confrontation with Sonic (doesn't have to be the Stardust Speedway race), and... Well. Eggman revived the Metal he abandoned on Little Planet with a huge electric shock.
---
For once, competition for Metal, and it languishing to nothing if it accepted that. We already see Gamma come to terms with Eggman's narcissism and simple acceptance of scrapping "defective" models for newer builds, despite false praise earlier
As much as I hate to cite the Encyclospeedia as a source, if his character entry in the Encyclospeedia is anything to go by, apparently Metal runs "fuzzy logic operations," which allegedly means he runs protocols roughly using the same problem-solving processes as a human being.
However, I have my doubts about that since he seems to operate pretty binarily in the games. His transformation into Neo Metal in Heroes seemed to have begun as an act of pragmatism, then morphed into some form of megalomania along the way. Metal's line of thinking may have been something along the lines of, "I cannot defeat Sonic in base form; therefore I will change it by copying data which will allow me to transform myself." Sounds simple enough.
Heroes is weird, however, because while it almost sort-of implies an existential crisis, that part is mostly obfuscated by megalomania, with all of his talk of becoming the "ultimate overlord" of a "robot kingdom." Absolute power corrupts absolutely and all that. While he transformed himself for the express purpose of defeating Sonic, we don't really know when or how he made the leap from "defeat Sonic" to "take over the world."
It's not that the existential crisis stuff isn't there, per se; just that it's not Metal's main focus.
I have to agree with @beevean here and say probably the one (1) cool idea IDW put forth wrt Metal's character was that he copied Eggman's genius in his search to find his creator. I felt like that idea really had the potential to go somewhere, explore the paradox of Metal's existence as an Eggman robot created to outclass Sonic. Or at the very least, present a solid threat: can you imagine a version of Metal that matches Sonic's speed and Eggman's genius?
---
-Heroes this is similarly mirrored for Omega. Omega was well aware it was abandoned as guard, and was aware of later E-2000 robots in Egg Fleet. The idea of Eggman just dumping/rejecting earlier bots for newer ones would be daunting to sentient bots.
I feel like Metal's reaction to seeing Omega for the first time runs more along the lines of bemusement than jealousy tbh:
He exclaims "You must be Omega!" in a surprised tone before remembering to stay in-character. I'm guessing it's because he wasn't counting on Omega ever being released.

💖 💙 🧡 📺 🎸 🎤 🎧 💡 🍡 ✨ 💫 🦔 👽🧍😘 ☺️🎙️ ✍️ 🤔 😳 🫡
It's a good thing I've already done half of these. XP
💖 Favourite Character?
Wow, that was eas-*BANG*
Seriously though, I cannot stress enough that the haha funny round moustache get a load of this the more the merrier man is my favourite character of all time. In anything. There are characters I like, there are characters I love, but Eggman will always have a special place in my heart.
I can enjoy different types of villains so long as they're fun or interesting. But we all have our preferences, and Eggman ticks every box on my personal list, and does so with effectiveness, hilarity, deadliness, and memorability. His themes are top class, his aesthetics are grade-A, his genius and creativity is legit, and ahhhhh he's so good. <3
Is it any wonder why I take issue to him being portrayed as a helpless fool? Or a defanged softie? Or a launch pad for other villains to piggyback off of? Or a Bowser-flavored father figure for characters who aren't even interesting on their own?
📺 Favourite TV show?
I assume the OVA doesn't count since it was a "movie", due to being tragically short-lived.
So by process of elimination, I choose AoStH. It's about as much of a non-Sonic cartoon as the rest, but for a Looney Tunes Lite, it is amusing most of the time, and it has Long John Botnik, so I gotta give it a pass. And while AoStH Sonic is… well, very Urkel, he was at least reasonably smart, which is more than can be said for his SatAM counterpart.
AoStH doesn't annoy me nearly as much as SatAM for its overwhelming influence that continues to this day with Archie and IDW, Boom for how everyone at the time overrated what was essentially a standard animated sitcom with Sonic characters shoehorned into the expected templates, and Prime for having an insufferably empty-headed Sonic, and everyone else being either unlikable or bland.
Underground is so forgettable to me that it loops back around to being a positive for it, since that means it doesn't actively piss me off enough like the aforementioned three, lol. As for Sonic X… I'm willing to give the first season a pass despite its heavy quantity of Chris, since I have some nostalgia for it, it has the unironically great and heartwarming Helen episode, and the questionable portrayals of certain characters (Eggman, Amy, Knuckles, arguably Sonic himself to a lesser extent) weren't as bad as they'd later become. Seasons 2 and 3 can fuck off though.
🎸 Favourite Stage Theme?
That's a certified Too Fucking Hard for me in a franchise that's full of bangers, so I'm gonna pick two zones/stages per game to make it only 90% difficult for me to choose instead of 100%.
Sonic 1: Star Light and Scrap Brain
Sonic 2: Hill Top and Wing Fortress
CD JP/EU: Quartz Quadrant Past and Stardust Speedway Past
CD US: Stardust Speedway Good Future and Metallic Madness Present
Sonic 3: Marble Garden and Launch Base
Sonic & Knuckles: Sandopolis and Death Egg
Fighters: Black Bed (Aurora Icefield) and Fire Stone (Giant Wing)
3D Blast Genesis: Rusty Ruin and Volcano Valley
3D Blast Saturn: Rusty Ruin and... the Special Stage
Sonic R: Can You Feel The Sunshine and Living In The City
SA1: Windy Hill and Tricky Maze (THIS ONE WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO NARROW DOWN TO JUST TWO)
SA2: Deeper (Death Chamber) and Space Trip Steps (Meteor Herd)
Advance 1: Ice Mountain and Egg Rocket
Advance 2: Music Plant and Techno Base
Heroes: Ocean Palace and Final Fortress
Battle: Holy Summit (arena) and Death Egg (arena)
Advance 3: Cyber Track and Chaos Angel
ShtH: Circus Park and Final Haunt
Rush: Ethno Circus (Mirage Road) and What U Need (Dead Line)
Riders: Metal City and Digital Dimension
'06: Aquatic Base and End of the World
Secret Rings: Let the Speed Mend It (Sand Oasis) and High and Broken (Levitated Ruin)
Rush Adventure: Haunted Ship and Sky Babylon
Zero Gravity: Aquatic Capital and Gigan Rocks
Unleashed: Rooftop Run Night and Skyscraper Scamper Day
Black Knight: Deep Woods and... actually, that's the only level theme I really like in this game, the rest are pretty forgettable
Colours: Planet Wisp and Aquarium Park
Generations: Speed Highway and Crisis City
Lost World: Sea Bottom Segue and Hidden World
Mania: Press Garden and Titanic Monarch (THIS ONE WAS ALSO HARD)
Forces: Moonlight Battlefield and Mortar Canyon
TSR: Roulette Road and Sand Road
🎤 Favourite Vocal Track?
I'll be unconventional and go with Live Life. Ironically, I don't care for the other vocal tracks in Black Knight, as I find them generic and unmemorable, but Live Life is a really uplifting one that I think deserves more appreciation.
I've always had a particular fondness for What I'm Made Of as well. And despite preferring the JP soundtrack for CD on the whole, Sonic Boom is still really catchy and infectious.
🎧 Favourite overall soundtrack?
How am I meant to narrow it down to one?
The answer: I can't, so instead I'll just list the ones I consider to be S-tier. Note that I am indeed taking the question to heart and judging them by how strong I consider them overall, rather than singling out one or a couple of tracks specifically. Otherwise I'd be listing the entire non-Chronicles catalogue. (The Last Scene in SA2, Aquarium Park in Colours, some tracks in ShtH…)
Sonic CD (JP/EU)
Sonic 3 & Knuckles
Sonic 3D Blast (Genesis)
Sonic Adventure 1
The Advance trilogy
Sonic Mega Collection (yes, I'm serious)
Sonic Heroes
Sonic '06
Sonic Rush Adventure
Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity
Sonic Unleashed
Sonic Mania
Team Sonic Racing
💡 Spinoff you’d like to see?
Dr. Crusher's Negating Mandating Machine™.
Serious answer, I'd like another Tails game of some sort, in the hopes that it would let the fox regain some of his fandom respect in a legitimate, non-Wildly Inconsistent-speech way.
I'd also be open to a Blaze spinoff, since there's a lot you could do with her world, and maybe it'd allow us to finally see Marine again under a pen that's hopefully not Flynn's. And since Blaze herself is still one of the most popular and less controversial Modern characters, I can't see a lack of audience being an issue.
🍡 Classic, Adventure, or Boost Gameplay?
Classic overall, but a little of Adventure as well in the form of SA1 and the Advance trilogy (even if the latter is semi-Boost if anything).
✨ Dream Sonic Game?
I've always preferred the S3&K/Mania/Advance approach to alternate characters, because I feel they strike the delicate balance of being different enough to offer something unique for each character, but still consistent enough to not detract from the overall style of gameplay. They also handle the matter of story completion the best IMO: if you want to stick with one character for the adventure, you can actually do so, rather than be forced to juggle different styles in one story (SA2), or for the game to suddenly hand over the controls to someone else halfway through the stage ('06).
That's honestly about it, aside from the obvious stuff (good soundtrack, pleasing aesthetics, etc). I don't think I'm impossible to please in that regard. The only other bullet point I can think of is that I'm not inherently opposed to different goals for different characters, but it's important that they don't come at the expense of the core gameplay. For example, I'm alright with Knuckles' treasure hunting conceptually, since you're still platforming and going fast like you would in any other installment. It's when you throw in the dipshit SA2 radar that it becomes a problem.
🦔 Favourite version of Sonic? (the character)
Game Sonic. The original, and the best.
I still have issues with him, but after seeing writers miss the point with him again and again in adaptations, with his portrayal ending up being obnoxious for one reason or another in the process, it's made me grow to appreciate the good qualities and low-key nuance of the original template.
🫡 Coldest Sonic Take?
My opinions seem to always be in opposition to that of the overall fandom's, so to think of one that's actually popular… hmm.
S3&K is still liked, right?

Classic Sonic Game idea!!
So I was thinking of a classic sonic game it’ll be called The Classic Sonic Collection! It’s a game with all 5 classic sonic games and in order
Sonic The Hedgehog
Sonic The Hedgehog 2
Sonic The Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles
Sonic The Hedgehog CD
Sonic Mania Plus (Main Mode and then Encore Mode)
For extrasIt’ll have animated cutscenes, and tips and guides to help you get all the perfect endings in all the classic sonic games like for sonic 3 and knuckles tips and guides will help you get all the chaos emeralds and super emeralds to get the hyper sonic ending and so much more in extras.
And it’ll also have soundtrack where you can listen to every music in every game. Even the prototypes for sonic 3 and knuckles and the usa soundtrack for sonic cd. And the remixes and instrumental music. Along with extra music. And you can speed it up or slow it down, pitch it up or pitch it down high pitch or lower pitch you can change speed or pitch in any speed or any pitch you like and you can also save the slowed or speed up music by pressing save music and it’ll be played in any classic sonic games you played and if you ever want the music back to normal you go back to soundtrack and press default music.
There will also be gallery to show all the classic sonic artwork and the easter eggs of sonic cd. And it’ll have character infos and bios. And there will also be videos of the classic sonic games and a comic made by me based by the classic sonic series. And some videos will be full animation of all the classic sonic games made by me too.
It’ll also have every intro cutscene of every game for the intro of sonic 1 for example it’s when it starts by dr ivo robotnik creating badniks by the little animals in scrap brain zone as the badnik spread all over South Island then in green hill zone classic sonic was taking a run all around green zone then he stops to take a view when he suddenly spots a motobug attacking two flickys classic sonic runs to the motobug as he spindashes and destroys the motobug revealing to be a flicky inside as then he wondered what happened as the flicky points to the badniks all over green hill classic sonic then winks and point his thumb at him at the flicky as he will find out what’s going on and will destroy all the badniks and save South Island as he dashed away the flickys cheered for him and that’s how his adventure begins. And in the end of every game will have a post cutscene like the end of sonic 1 is after classic sonic gets all the six chaos emeralds, after they filled green hill with large colorful flowers and after the defeat of dr robotnik he spots another island called west side island then he gets on the tornado and he waves to all the little animals and then he flies to west side island which leads to sonic 2.
For sonic 2 there can be some differences one is after mystic cave zone act 2 classic sonic and classic tails were about to leave until they accidentally fall down to a pitch that leads to the hidden palace zone and the second is 10 ring item boxes in death egg zone before entering the mecha sonic boss fight and a hint on the top right says wait till the death egg robot fight then press a and then x to activate the super form.
For sonic mania and encore mode there will be some differences and to make it more nostalgic such as for example after getting all the chaos emeralds the chaos emeralds will then go to the hidden palace as the chaos emeralds became super emeralds unlike sonic 3 and knuckles they don’t turn gray they turned activated and for encore mode they’ll stay activated for good and stay as super emeralds for now on. And after hidden palace zone we go to stardust speedway. And for stardust speedway like in sonic cd they’ll be a good future for act 3 and the time warp signs for past will still be here in sonic cd but in the end of act 1 there will be a generator and a hologram of classic metal sonic and when they destroy the generator and the hologram stardust speedway will still be the past not the present in act 2 and in the end of act 2 another generator will appear along with the hologram of classic metal sonic. As they destroyed both the hologram and the generator stardust speedway became a good future thanks to the time stones back in sonic cd. Then the Metal Sonic boss fight will be just like in sonic cd. In lava reef zone instead of two separated bosses in act 2 heavy rider will appear first then they go to the hidden palace then heavy king will appear next and lots more. In the end of hidden palace zone they saw little planet and then for a cutscene they head to never lake and then they made there way to little planet which then they head to stardust speedway.
And for the end of encore mode is where when we reach for you could it be right starts playing but slowed as classic sonic, classic tails, classic knuckles, classic ray and classic mighty land safely and they look at little planet which will be shaking for a moment before disappearing and leaving behind some sparks in the shape of classic sonic’s face as little planet flowers starts to bloom classic sonic noticed the phantom ruby falling and it lands safely into his hands and he looked at classic tails, classic knuckles, classic ray and classic mighty and they put their hands to the middle then up to the air as they finally finished dr robotnik for good.
For the credits shows the pictures of classic sonic, classic tails, classic knuckles, classic amy, classic ray, and classic mighty all having fun for example making snowman’s in press garden zone, some of them snowboarding in ice cap zone while classic tails is flying above them and classic knuckles and classic ray are gliding above them too, visiting little planet for example taking a view in stardust speedway, etc.
And to end the collection is where classic sonic, classic tails, classic knuckles, classic amy, classic ray and classic mighty all took a selfie together and the message on the bottom says
Tribute to Sega and Sonic.
Thank you for the classic sonic series for all these years.

One day, while rummaging through an old bookstore, you discover an abandoned thousand-page cookbook. Its spine is cracked, the cover a deep maroon, worn at the edges like it's been passed down through generations. You pick it up, and the pages, yellowed and fragile, whisper as you open it.
The first recipe is for a simple soup. The ingredients are mundane: carrots, onions, garlic. You smile at the simplicity, gather what you need, and make the soup. It tastes like nostalgia, like a memory you can't quite place.
But when you try to turn the page, your fingers meet resistance. It won't budge. The ink seems to shimmer, almost taunting you. You try again, with more force, but it’s as if the page is glued in place. It hits you then: you can’t flip to the next recipe without making the current dish.
Curiosity ignites. You gather ingredients for the second recipe—a more complex dish this time, a casserole requiring herbs you’ve never heard of. But you find them, in a tiny market on the outskirts of town, a place you’ve never noticed before. You follow the instructions to the letter. The dish is exquisite, a symphony of flavors.
Only then does the next page yield. You’re hooked, a compulsion building inside you. Each recipe is more intricate than the last, each dish a masterpiece. Days turn into weeks. The cookbook becomes your obsession, your lifeline.
And then, one day, you flip to the next recipe and freeze. The instructions call for a liter of stardust. It gives a “simple” explanation of how to build a starship, complete with diagrams. Your heart pounds as you read, disbelief warring with the now-familiar sense of inevitability.
You gather materials, scrapping together parts from junkyards and antique shops. You work through the nights, sleep-deprived and driven by something you can’t name. The starship begins to take shape, a skeleton of metal and wire, an impossible dream made tangible.
As you work, you wonder about the origins of the cookbook. Who wrote it? Why was it abandoned? What will happen when you reach the final page? Questions swirl, but you push them aside. There’s only the next step, the next dish.
Finally, the starship is complete. You stand back, marveling at your creation. It looks like something from a science fiction novel, a vessel for the stars. You hold your breath as you turn the page, anticipation and fear coiling in your chest.
The next recipe is even stranger, calling for ingredients that don’t exist on Earth, at least as far as you know. But you don’t hesitate. The starship is there, ready. You step inside, the cookbook clutched in your hands.
As the engines hum to life, you think of all the recipes you’ve made, the journey that’s brought you here. You’re no longer the person who found an old cookbook in a dusty shop. You’ve changed, transformed by the magic of creation, by the act of making.
The starship lifts off, and you feel a weightlessness that’s both terrifying and exhilarating. You’re leaving everything behind, venturing into the unknown. But there’s no turning back. There’s only the next recipe, the next adventure.
And as the stars stretch out before you, the pages of the cookbook fluttering in the cabin, you know that whatever comes next, you’ll face it with the same wonder and determination that brought you this far. You’ve become a part of the story, a thread in the tapestry, and you can’t wait to see where it leads.
You discovered an abandoned one thousand page cookbook one day, and strangely, you found that you can’t flip to the next recipe without making the current dish. Flipping the page, you see the next dish calls for a liter of star dust and gives a “simple” explanation of how to build a starship.

Over the Nexus Deck Profile: Horus Lockdown
Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8 is probably the most beloved floodgate in the game. Being a powerful, FIRE-attribute Dragon that referenced the game's Egyptian inspirations whilst not being overtly associated with any particular anime characters (the guy from GX doesn't count) makes Horus distinct and fascinating, especially for a DM era monster. Its goal is simple: summon Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8 and have Royal Decree running at the same time to lock the opponent out of spells and traps, forcing them to rely on monsters. Koa'ki Meiru Drago in turn helps restrict those monsters, though notably it doesn't stop this deck's primary weakness; Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier. Fortunately, this deck is not entirely reliant on summoning Horus to win, as the standard Dragon engine is powerful enough to win games on its own if you're lucky. My build prefers to summon Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6 directly instead of relying on LV4, but using LV4 is still viable, thanks to Dragunity Knight - Gae Dearg making it searchable. Regardless, LV4 is good for making sure we can get to Horus LV8 as soon as possible. If something happens to Horus LV8, Pot of Avarice helps to recycle it, allowing it to potentially be Summoned again. All versions of Horus appreciate Book of Moon, an all-purpose tool that can make it easier for them to destroy opposing monsters to enable their level up. A Dragunity package is played here to enable Synchro Summons, as Stardust Dragon in particular helps a lot to keep Horus safe. Here's the list: MONSTERS (20): Dragunity Dux x2 Dragunity Phalanx x2 Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV4 x3 Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6 x3 Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8 x1 Koa'ki Meiru Drago x3 Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon x3 Red-Eyes Wyvern x3 SPELLS (17): Book of Moon x3 Dark Hole x1 Dragon Ravine x3 Future Fusion x1 Gold Sarcophagus x2 Monster Reborn x1 Mystical Space Typhoon x2 Pot of Avarice x1 Terraforming x3 TRAPS (3): Royal Decree x3 EXTRA DECK: Five-Headed Dragon x1 Ally of Justice Catastor x1 Black Rose Dragon x1 Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier x1 Colossal Fighter x1 Dragunity Knight - Gae Dearg x1 Dragunity Knight - Vajrayana x1 Goyo Guardian x1 Red Dragon Archfiend x1 Red Nova Dragon x1 Scrap Dragon x1 Stardust Dragon x1 Thought Ruler Archfiend x1 Trident Dragion x1 Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier x1

I've seen the rise and fall of your empire
Witnessed the way you were weened off the wolf
How quick you were to turn a blind eye to the wild
When it no longer serviced you
How you kicked the mutts of the street and their orphans too
Cursed their misfortune for crossing you
Beating your chest as if you were an ape that built yourself from scrap metal
Not of mankind and the many petty grievances against us
Not of our faults
Not born of our fallen stardust
No, you came from nothing
Truly,
You were born of a black hole
And it still lives in your heart somewhere
So you feed it coins and promissory notes
Debts of the good people
Until you can lounge on a throne of paupers' bones
Brittle and precarious as they are
You want to sit atop that Tower of Babel
Closest to God
That you might spit in His face while you're busy talking with that silver tongue of yours
Begging him to just come down to your level
That you might yank Him from His place on high
Sink Him down below
Lord over Him a little bit
Maybe sell Him a ticket back to the top
Why stop?
No one's ever stopped you before
Your bullshit has always been bulletproof
But one day you will fall
From a great and lofty height
Or slip in the shower
Naked as a jaybird
And when your head splits
Nobody will be there to repair it with gold
When you cry out to your empty household
The drain will run red
Until you are gone
