Behold, a very rough WIP of the animatic project i decided was my bday gift to myself because I hate myself or something (not really sort of, i might just be masochistic--)

There's a few panels I want to add to give more motion in places, and I have to fix the sync. The program I used has a bad habit of causing micro-lag if I don't fully rewind to review so I'mma hopefully fix that in the second pass (currently being roughed out and tweaked)

Anyway, enjoy! I'm only uploading this WIP here

"First Snowfall"

"I'd heard of snowfall from guests, but we were never lucky enough to have it fall over the city--not as long as I can recall, at least, which I know isn't very long by any means. I wonder how long we would have to wait, if we'd stayed? To see it ourselves through the resi-glass windows? Maybe she would even let us go out on the balcony?

OH--It melts on my fingers?! I can even see my exhaust vapor! This is incredible!"

"I expected very little when I was told to 'bring something warm'; despite knowing better, our guide--er, Jenn--insisted. 'Part of the experience', she called it. Being cold was never a concern, so I can only assume it's a joke or there's some practical side I just don't know.

Now that I see it, though, I can't help some... compulsion to draw my scarf closer to my face, to blow exhaust into the air to watch it curl and waft away... to watch the small flakes of ice descend on gentle currents of wind. I want to stop and just... watch. It's... comfortable."

"I'm not surprised they've never seen snow. The skies over E'rta City have been warm and clear for weeks before they were even brought online... It's like watching kids, in a way. So fascinated by even the smallest things around them... Firsts are always amazing to see, and I'm... so glad I can help them replace the pain and loneliness with something good. Jenn’s tree house (more or less)

Got stuck on doodling or world building so I wanted to rough out what “home” is for Jenn and the boys. It's cleaner than it should be cuz I'm bad at texturing; if I get to the clean sketch, hopefully I'll be able to show the bolted, mismatched metal and weird things strewn about the patios. It, like a lot of Jenn's stuff, was a salvage; of unknown origin and ownership, it was a rusted, derelict space that Jenn spent the better part of an Azilan year fixing up to a livable degree, but the cozy bungalow it is now took years to get to on her own.

But it's not as if she had anything else to do during that time.

I’m having way too much fun with the bases I got from @croxovergoddess with my idiots; the vibes are perfection to display their personalities and relationships

It was definitely a moment when Moon realized just how excitable Sun was when they first got to explore the world outside the estate; it was nice, sure, seeing him anything but apathetic or withdrawn, but Moon realized he’d traded being Sun’s support to being his babysitter pretty damn quick

It was more of a moment when Jenn started to be comfortable with them and he realized she, too, was a Silly Bitch and he was stuck with both of them—of his own free will, of course

Though sometimes it’s easy to forget that Jenn and Moon did not start out on friendly terms, often bickering about small things or Sun’s wellbeing. Being a savant of a technician, Jenn argued for factual methods regarding upkeep and care while Moon had the grounds of not only knowing Sun better, but being physically built as Sun’s balancing factor, thus knowing him better than anyone else could. Sun appreciated them both but didn’t really enjoy being in the middle between his first real friend and his twin brother’s temper

Moon underestimated Jenn only once. She has not been able to catch him off guard in a tussle since.

Despite the rocky beginning, they did warm up to each other and nowadays Moon is much, much calmer as well as outwardly affectionate, being gentle and open with his human companion in an effort to reciprocate the patience and empathy she originally showed him; he’s always been kind to Sun, though, that never changed—but he did become less overprotective once his trust of Jenn began to grow

Mutual comfort and emotional support is intrinsic to their relationship alongside companionship, safety and a sense of purpose in thriving together in a life chosen for themeselves

There definitely won’t be anything bad in the future that would disrupt this warm, fuzzy household

Self-indulgent art heals my soul in ways I never understood before (because I almost never did self-indulgent art at all); also, new watermark debut!

Best seat in the house is debatable, but I think Sun has it here--though Moon's lap is also exceptionally comfy on its own~

Featured for the afternoon recharge: Moon (the mattress), Jenn (the pillow) and Sun (comfortably squished); next to them is Rukbat the hound and the twins Stardusts, Twii and Laa

Aquila is up in the tree somewhere keeping an eye out

"As much as it's a pain to maintain, even with the right tools, I'm still grateful that whatever etherylle is made of, it lets bots recharge just by performing actions that a human would to rest. I don't think I'd be able to sustain keeping all of them charged if I couldn't just feed them and take a nap--my generator barely keeps my house powered when stocks are low! Lucky me, Moon is pretty adamant about self-care--unluckily, he refuses to let me work when he's decided its time to rest, so I have to cooperate or he'll just manhandle me out of the workshop himself. Sun's just as bad at times; I've noticed if he doesn't have anything to do, he gets really fidgety and nervous, but he doesn't have any way to help me with my own work. I'm considering teaching him how to cook; with Moon on sleep duty, it would cover the two basic recharge methods without me having to stop what I'm doing to do it myself. And I might get fed, too!"

"Sun is just as bad about eating as Moon is about sleeping. I've made a tactical error. His food is really good and makes me want to lay down. I've been bamboozled."

Finally got an actual ref of the teeny twins, Jenn's stardust babies, Twii and Laa (if you get the name reference, ily)

As they don't speak, they communicate solely in facial expressions, small noises and body language. Their faces are elaborate liquid LED displays; they cannot eat.

Twii is the friendlier of the two while Laa, if she had teeth, would probably bite most people. They have very cat-like personalities, particularly Laa, however Jenn doesn't know if they were originally made that way or not, as they were salvages. Who they belonged to and what they were for is unknown; because Jenn rescued and repaired them, they are extremely loyal to her--though not without its hiccups. Laa spent a long while being prickly and refusing contact or command while Twii would only approach Jenn when she wasn't looking and run to a hiding spot if spotted.

"The things that people throw away have never astounded or surprised me, but sometimes it does sicken me. The scrapyard under Ralta always gets weird stuff in it, I go there for parts because the city, for some ill-begotten reason, thinks that dumping battery holsters, capacitors, loose cables, electro-etherylle converters and the week's leftovers in the same area won't have some form of consequences--but it's way easier to get those parts when no one cares about a random girl rooting through the garbage, so I don't complain. Cheaper, too.

"But I've never seen anyone throw out a fully-functional bot before.

"At first, I thought I was hallucinating, or the zirats had learned to sing, but after a few moments of wandering, I saw it. A pink blip of color on top of a pile of sheet metal and rotten peels, crying its heart out. It must have seen me because in a blink, it was running at me, screaming and turning circles like it wanted me to follow. I had a hunch that it was running low on power if it was running--it didn't take a genius to figure out it was a Stardust and that it wasn't flying because it was either hurt or critically low on energy.

"At least, it explained that one... what it was leading me to was another story. After shoving the scrap aside and squinting through the garbage, I saw it, in a heap between bags of miscellaneous junk--another Stardust. Darkly colored, unmoving, its facial screen cracked and horrifically empty from the liquid display having leaked out ages ago. Getting closer, I also realized their little outfits were torn with claw marks and other things. Clearly, they'd been here long enough the zirats had tried to eat them at least once.

"The pink one mewled at me, its face blinking in and out with a low power warning, and I felt like it was asking for help. The shock honestly made me hesitate; I got caught trying to figure out why they were there, what had happened, why one was still online... I had an awful feeling about it, but when the pink one finally collapsed I shook off my thoughts and grabbed them both.

"The purple one's body being so limp was... disturbing. But I knew what to do. Aquila was there in moments from where she was circling and I wrapped them up in my zip pouch, gave her the command to take them straight home and put them in the lab, and sent her off.

"Now, I'm rooting through the garbage with purpose, recording myself so I don't wake up thinking I'd hallucinated the entire episode, trying to find parts that might help since nothing at home was suited for such tiny bodies. Also, I don't think its zirats in this dump, and if they are they're thakking huge--"

Debating to present FreeRunner content as comics like I did here or like the #FairyAU by ayyy-imma-ninja does, or if I should go the "Overshadowed" route and write a fic

Maybe a combination? I'm very visually oriented but dropping written stuff would be faster I think, I just really like the format Ninja has where Asks help deliver story content and lore, I just don't have the following for that QwQ
