Been sitting on some sketches that got me through a rough mental dip. Practicing my sequential art and stuff is nice but god did I need the fluff that came with it. Holiday season can suck my butt.

Funny the only one who didn't get a solo run was Ty, I should make up to him for it

Echo is such a food junkie he's not allowed to pick the apples himself because he starts eating them, but after being a good boy with the basket he's given a treat. A little love munch makes sure it's ripe, gives him an easier place to bite down and sharing food is a sign of affection 🥰

Everyone got used to Jenn's night terrors pretty quick. She's had them for ages and skipped sleep a lot because of them, but Nova has been keeping her on track regardless because it's not healthy to run on empty like she does. While they can't do anything about the dreams, sometimes a little smooch settles the nerves for you 💕

In the cases where that doesn't work and her brain is just being absolutely horrid, even when awake... Well, there still isn't much to do at all. Event is hands on with his problem solving, so he has complicated feelings about his human seeking him out for comfort and safety but being physically unable to do anything about it. Drives him crazy, but he's not a quitter 🥺

Unlike the usual ficathon though, there is a theme all contestants will need to follow. 

☆☆☆ The theme for this contest is: Introduction to TAU! ☆☆☆

This means your fic can be read by anyone who has no prior knowledge of TAU, or even Gravity Falls! It also means you need to give the reader a taste of what TAU is all about – this includes:

Something that explains the Transcendence (or at least shows the reader that the supernatural is now commonplace – this can be achieved anywhere from a single sentence, to a major plot point)

Alcor’s general predicament of being a human-turned-immortal-demon (could be in conversation, or in the general narrative. Does not need to go into detail on the events that lead up to this, but it can!)

At least one familiar or common theme abundant in this AU, which includes but isn’t limited to: 

Family (however it’s defined), friendship, and platonic love

Finding joy amidst grief, hope despite loss

Demonology and eldritch terrors

Supernatural politics and how they fit into the mundane

The existential horror of being a human turned semi-omnipotent immortal demon who must fight the demonic desire for chaos vs. the human desire to pack bond with everything!

A wonderful example of this includes Mod K’s series Bentley & Friends! The story plants you in the center of the TAU world through the eyes of a character named Bentley, and slowly unveils the setting through his perspective. Bentley himself is familiar with a post-Transcendence world and Alcor’s reputation, but only comes to learn the truth about him and Mizar through ensuing shenanigans. 

Another example would be MaryPSue’s Return, Rewind, Rewrite, which starts with an emotional demon summoning, and follows characters who find they're more closely linked to the Transcendence than they expected. Remember: Showcasing the story of TAU through narratives and character interactions is always better than simply giving the reader a summary! 

Please note that there is no word minimum. Longer fics will generally leave a better impression on the mods, but quality will always trump quantity.

He puts force on the 'real' to get his meaning, who the hell this guy is thinking his robots can behave? If it was up to John he'd just order they fire this kid and gather all the cyborgs from the street.. "death threat? Then you decided to tag along with me all alone?" He looks around then back at Hughie, as if he has no clue what to do with him.

His most focus is on the driving but he throws glances at the boy sitting by his side from time to time "I keep wondering how someone like you can design such system.. well, not like I'm interested but gotta work more on future models, seems like the coding got a flaw in it" He still can't believe how fast the boy found the factory numbers. They land in front of the station, the sky still raining. "just don't look straight in her eyes, got an implant last year, kind of creepy if you ask me" He mumbles to the boy on their way to morgue and upon their entrance, they're greeted by a young, blonde girl with a clipboard, her eyes two shining, gold rings and she frown at the man accompanying John before face blooming in a delight joy, recognizing that face "John and Mr. Campbell! Nice to meet you!" She holds out a hand, smiling widely "quite a pleasant surprise! I follow all the news about your latest-"

"-Ugh! We all get you want to do him, Annie. now, can we focus on the case?" He waves a hand between them, impatient and okay, he won't say it out loud but jealous! Because he's trying for years to take her on a date but the second this boy comes in, she's batting her eyelashes at him!

Hughie sighs at John's mumbling. He wonders if they'll ever be able to get along, when the man seems so determined to misconstrue everything that he says. Hopefully, it's just growing pains or maybe just a bad day. He smiles up at John, who returns with a screwdriver and umbrella. "Thanks."

"It might not be about money." Hughie says as he starts to unscrew. "There's lots of reasons why someone out there would want people to think that my products are dangerous. I get death threats all the time from all sorts of people." The main panel unscrewed, Hughie reaches inside and pulls out the main hardware chip. "Okay, I've got the factory number. We can get going now."

—The tension in the school auditorium was thick enough to cut with a knife. Two students remained on stage, glaring at each other like mortal enemies rather than middle schoolers fighting for a plastic trophy. You stood on one side, arms crossed, radiating confidence. On the other, Kang Yeosang, your eternal rival, clenched his fists.

“Your word is… ‘Belligerent.’”

Easy. You smirked, taking your sweet time.

“B-E-L-L-I-G-E-R-E-N-T.” You let the final letter linger, savoring the way Yeosang’s face twitched.

“Correct!” The judge beamed.

Yeosang scowled, shifting from foot to foot.

“Next word… ‘Pernicious.’”

Yeosang took a deep breath, lifting his chin. “P-E-R-N-I-C-I-O-U-S.”

“Correct!”

The audience buzzed with excitement. The tie dragged on until finally, the moment of reckoning arrived.

“Yeosang, your next word is… ‘Onomatopoeia.’”

You swore you saw a flicker of panic in his eyes, but he masked it quickly. He started spelling, voice steady. “O-N-O-M-A-T-O—” A pause. A long one.

Your smirk widened. He sucked in a breath, then rushed, “P-E-I-A.”

“Incorrect.”

Your heart soared. It was your turn now, and you didn’t waste a second. “O-N-O-M-A-T-O-P-O-E-I-A.”

“We have a winner!”

Yeosang’s face twisted in disbelief. You turned to him, hands on your hips.

“Guess you weren’t as smart as you thought, huh?” you teased, leaning in just enough to get in his face.

He gritted his teeth. “Shut up.”

“Aw, is Yeosang mad because he lost?”

That was the last straw. His hand shot out, yanking at your ponytail. Hard.

You yelped and immediately fought back, grabbing a fistful of his sleeve and yanking him toward you. A mess of limbs, hissing, and shoving ensued before the teachers rushed in to separate you.

Even with an angry teacher holding him back, Yeosang still managed to shoot you a glare. “Next time, I’m wiping the floor with you.”

You grinned, still panting. “We’ll see about that.”

—Middle school sports day was supposed to be fun. For most kids, it was fun. But for you and Yeosang? It was war.

The final event was the relay race. Your team was neck-and-neck with his, and of course, you were the last runners. The second the baton hit your hand, you sprinted, eyes locked on Yeosang just ahead.

He was fast. But so were you. Step by step, you gained on him, pushing your legs to move faster. The finish line was in sight, and for a moment, you thought you could make it.

Yeosang smirked. And he sped up. Your jaw clenched as he crossed the finish line half a second before you, arms raised in victory. His team erupted in cheers while yours groaned.

You stormed over to him, chest heaving. “You think you’re hot stuff, don’t you?”

Yeosang turned, still catching his breath. “I don’t think—I know.” He tapped his temple with a smug grin. “That’s two-to-one, by the way.”

Oh, that did it. Without thinking, you stomped forward and shoved him. Not hard enough to knock him over, but enough to get your point across.

He barely stumbled but gasped in fake offense. “Violence now? Sore loser?”

You were about to retort when he suddenly flicked your forehead.

Your hands balled into fists. “Oh, you’re so dead.”

Before he could react, you launched at him, tackling him to the grass. He shouted as you grabbed his arms, pinning him down. But Yeosang wasn’t one to go down without a fight—within seconds, he twisted, rolling the both of you over until he was the one on top.

“Lost. again,” he taunted, grinning.

You narrowed your eyes. Then, with zero hesitation, you reached up and pulled his hair.

“AH—!”

He scrambled off you, clutching his head. “You fight dirty!”

You just smirked, brushing grass off your shorts. “All’s fair in war, Kang.”

OOO. HIGHSCHOOL

—By the time high school rolled around, your rivalry with Kang Yeosang had become something of a school legend. The teachers, exhausted from years of your constant battles, made sure you were placed in different sections. But if they thought a few walls and different schedules would keep you two apart, they clearly underestimated just how deep your need to outdo each other ran.

Because the war never stopped. If anything, it only got worse.

The midterm results were posted outside the faculty room, drawing a crowd of students eager to see how they did. But for you and Yeosang, there was only one thing that mattered: who ranked higher.

You shoved your way to the front, heart pounding. Your eyes scanned the list, moving past the lower ranks until—

Yeosang exhaled sharply through his nose. Then, in one swift movement, he ripped the results paper off the board and bolted.

“HEY—”

You chased after him, shoving past students. “YOU CAN’T JUST ERASE THE RESULTS, YOU SORE LOSER!”

He didn’t stop, running straight into the library. You caught up just in time to see him shoving the entire paper into the shredder.

“ARE YOU INSANE?!” you screeched.

Yeosang smirked, crossing his arms. “What rankings? I don’t see any rankings.”

You lunged at him. He dodged. A chaotic chase ensued between the bookshelves, resulting in the librarian dragging both of you to the principal’s office.

—The school’s annual talent show was supposed to be a showcase of skills, a celebration of the arts. For you and Yeosang? It was another battleground.

You signed up for a dance performance. Yeosang signed up too—also for dance.

You found out only when you saw his name on the audition list. You had stormed up to him, eyes blazing. “You did this on purpose.”

He smirked. “Scared?”

The day of the show arrived, and the auditorium buzzed with excitement. You were set to perform first, and you killed it. The crowd roared, and you strutted offstage with satisfaction.

Then Yeosang went on. And you knew—you knew the moment the music started, the moment his moves hit perfectly on beat, that he wasn’t going to let you have this one.

By the time he finished, the applause was deafening. Your hands curled into fists.

As he walked backstage, you stepped in front of him, clapping slowly. “Not bad.”

“Not bad?” He scoffed. “Please. I won.”

You tilted your head. “Funny. You haven’t even seen the results yet.”

He shrugged, confident. “I don’t need to.”

You smirked. “Alright, bet. Loser buys the winner coffee for a month.”

“Deal.”

When the judges announced the results, it was a tie.

Your mouth fell open. Yeosang blinked in disbelief. And then, at the same time, you both turned to each other.

“NO.”

The host, sensing the tension, quickly ended the program before a brawl broke out on stage. But later that evening, you found out someone had messed with the sound system before your performance, lowering the volume of your music just slightly.

When confronted, Yeosang just smiled. “You can’t prove anything,” he said innocently.

You threw your shoe at him.

—The school trip to the mountains was supposed to be relaxing. A peaceful retreat where students could “connect with nature.” But, of course, you and Yeosang had different plans.

From the moment you stepped off the bus, the competition began.

Who could set up their tent faster? Who could start a fire first? Who could carry the heaviest logs for firewood? You weren’t even assigned to collect firewood, but the second Yeosang boasted that he could carry more, you found yourself hauling entire tree branches just to prove a point.

Then came the hiking challenge.

It wasn’t an official event, but when the teachers announced a group hike to the peak, you and Yeosang immediately turned it into a race.

The first part of the trail was easy—flat terrain, small rocks, nothing challenging. But as the path grew steeper, the real battle began.

Yeosang, slightly ahead, glanced back at you and smirked. “You slowing down already?”

You scoffed, wiping sweat from your forehead. “In your dreams, Kang.”

He picked up the pace. You did too. Soon, you were practically sprinting up the mountain, ignoring the concerned shouts of the teachers behind you.

And then, your foot slipped. For a split second, your heart plunged as your body tilted back. You barely had time to register the panic before a hand grabbed your wrist, yanking you forward.

You crashed into Yeosang, both of you stumbling as he steadied you. His hand was firm around yours, fingers warm against your wrist. For a moment, neither of you moved.

You were so close, you could see the sweat on his brow, the way his chest heaved from exertion.

“You good?” His voice was quieter than usual, less teasing.

Your heart was pounding. From almost falling. Obviously.

You yanked your hand back, clearing your throat. “Tch. I didn’t need your help.”

Yeosang rolled his eyes. “Yeah, sure. Next time I’ll let you roll down the mountain.”

You pushed past him, marching toward the peak. “I’m still beating you there.”

“Oh, hell no—”

And just like that, the rivalry was back.

leo entering The Plot™️ at the wrong moments so easily for aus is so important to me. because like, okay, every other character in the seven can only enter The Plot™️ at their specific entry point because they’ve been accounted for until that moment. annabeth and percy can’t enter sooner because they’re the start with the pjo series, piper and frank don’t have any specific reasons to show up sooner due to having semi stable parental figures, hazel’s dead the entire timeline, and then jason was roughing it out with wolves and like,, being conscripted into an army before he lost any baby teeth.

but leo? free game the second he hits age nine because his mom’s dead and he’s a runner. perfect material for running into The Plot™️ at the wrong moment or too soon.

Your friendly neighborhood Cairo Day Mods (@improvidus and @impossiblepluto) have been talking. Cairo Day is traditionally celebrated by the MacGyver (2016) fandom during the week of April 14th to coincide with the airdate of the season one finale which takes place on the anniversary of the infamous "We Don't Talk About Cairo"-Mission.

Fans celebrate by writing fanfiction, making fanart, creating gifsets, etc.

Mid to end of April is a busy time for students, teachers, families who might be taking a spring break trip, mods who are in school. With that in mind, we are planning to host a Cairo Day event June 23rd-29th. In the next few days we will begin accepting prompt submissions followed by voting for your favorite prompts.

But we didn't want to let Cairo Day pass unobserved. Taking a look at the voting data of previous years, we gathered the "runner up" prompts that didn't quite make the cut. We will also be hosting some polls and ask games throughout the week. If there is an idea that you have for how you would like to celebrate Cairo Day either in April or in June, let us know

A week-long event hosted by the MacGyver(2016) fandom, but anyone is welcome. Fans can write fics, create art or gifsets. Share meta, screenshots, favorite episodes. Read, comment, and reblog the fanworks.

Can I...?

Yeah, probably. The only real rule is please don't use AI to create anything. You can combine our prompts with another event. Mix and Match prompts. Write one long story featuring all the prompts. I keep secretly hoping one year someone will create a fiber arts project somehow.

What does the "Improvise" Prompt mean?

anything goes. Write the fic you've always wanted to write. Finish a story you've been working on forever. Use a prompts from an old Cairo Day Event. Use it as a free space on a bingo card. Use it as a catch up day.

This seems very similar to all the other years, are you guys sure it's different?

Maze Runner AU Part 1

Sorry for the long wait to anybody who was anticipating this! Without further ado, here’s part 1!

Hyrule wakes up and honestly takes to things pretty well. He spends his first few days in the maze poking around the glade, (the safe center of the maze).

He doesn’t know yet, but the maze is shaped like the triforce. The center, empty, triangle a safe meadow free of any mazes. It’s cut through by a river and has a few clusters of trees. 

Hyrule, who doesn’t remember how he knows these things, is a good survivalist. He makes a small shelter in a small cave, really just a hole between some rocks. 

The maze has three entrances. He chooses one and finally enters the maze. Things are pretty simple at first. Eventually he runs into a few small monsters which he basically just bashes with a self made spear. 

After a week or so he finally runs into a ‘boss’. It’s a LARGE reptile that shoots projectiles at him. (It’s just Aquamentus for Zelda 1 fans) He manages to kill it relatively unharmed. The next day the elevator rises again. In it are some basic supplies, rope, a ration kit, and a small dagger. 

 Hyrule learns whenever he solves a particularly difficult puzzle or kills a particularly large monster he is rewarded. 

This is pretty encouraging to him and he keeps traveling deeper and deeper into the maze, exploring it from different entrances as well. He does this for a little over a month becoming pretty adapted to the maze, getting stronger and smarter. Unfortunately he gets really hurt one day fighting a huge bird that shoots lightning strikes. He catches a strike to his left leg and retreats. 

He’s left with a severe 3rd degree burn. He doesn’t know how he knows, but somehow he knows that he needs herbs that grow deep in the maze to treat it. So, cue him making a mad attempt to go get said herbs but being unable to due to his injury slowing him down.

He stops trying and starts trying to treat it in the glade but he just doesn’t have what he needs. Infection and blood loss sets in and Hyrule starts getting very sick.

Meanwhile, . . On the outside everyone, namely Legend, are starting to freak out because it really looks like Hyrule is on the path to dying a slow, fevered death. 

Legend makes a huge fuss and he is next to enter the maze. It happens fast and unceremoniously. He doesn’t tell anybody or say goodbye, he urges HYLIA to get him in there as fast as they can. It’s not until he’s in the chair and going under amnesia that he starts to think about the implications of losing his memory. 

When Legend enters it’s obvious he doesn’t recognize or remember Hyrule because he fully ignores him and immediately runs into the maze trying to escape. 

He does this for a few more days before slowing down and talking to the other dude. He also quickly realizes that the other dude is SUPER sick. 

Hyrule vaguely answers some of Legend’s questions but he barely has energy to do anything but sleep. Guilt and panic engulfs Legend and he starts trying to help. Hyrule’s wound smells awful. 

Hyrule tells Legend about the herb he needs and Legend works tirelessly until he gets it. (It’s basically nature's antibiotic). 

Their friendship reblossoms as Legend starts nursing him back to health.

On the Zelda side:

HYLIA is surprised when Artemis doesn’t assimilate all too well. She panics upon awakening and spends her entire first week hiding in one spot. Eventually hunger drives her out and she calms down after foraging a meal. 

It takes her another week until she even considers going in the maze. She doesn’t explore it thoroughly. Her first monster sends her fleeing back to the safety of the glade.

Eventually she gets a little bit more courageous in the safer parts of the maze. Upon completing a semi difficult puzzle, HYLIA sends her a care package very similar to the one they sent Hyrule. Unlike Hyrule, this care package does not have the safe influence. 

Artemis quickly pieces it together that she’s here because of a greater power and that when she does tasks that it deems favorable she gets rewarded. So she refuses to reenter the maze in order to see how far she can push that force. She wants answers or nothing at all.

So Artemis starts chilling. She starts building herself a base. She starts seeing what food she can cultivate inside the glade itself. 

After a month of Artemis basically doing jackshit HYLIA gets frustrated. They send in Dawn.

Dawn and Artemis have never gotten along. They never actually had a real fight before, not like Legend and Wars, but it’s always been a known thing that they do NOT like each other. 

Dawn has also always been more aggressive and headstrong so they think she will shake things up. Dawn has also been causing issues since Hyrule, who she was close with, got sent in so it’ll be good to get her off their plates. 

Dawn adjusts well to being sent in and Artemis hesitantly greets her. It’s obvious that the memory erasure works well because they have no recollection of each other and begin to get along with each other well. 

Artemis settles in Dawn giving her a tour of the glade. When Dawn asks about the maze entrances Artemis tenses up and tells her about her theory. She shows her the gifts that were sent after she completed a puzzle. She asks Dawn not to go in…

And Dawn agrees. She thinks it’s a worthy theory to test and the glade provides enough. 

So for almost another month Dawn and Artemis live a happy, cottagecore, life in the glade. 

HYLIA unceremoniously sends in Aurora who’s always been stubborn. It works. 

Shortly after welcoming her in, Aurora points at the maze and asks about it. Artemis and Dawn explain about why their avoiding it and Aurora just basically goes: Okay well I’m not doing that. 

And they can’t stop her. After Aurora starts running the maze Dawn begins to follow bc it doesn’t really matter anymore and eventually Artemis is just: “fuk u guys.” And starts running it too.
