wherever he is, is where I'll go (what if I said he's down below?) (4/4)
Relationship(s): Solangelo Word Count: 68.7k Summary: When Will ventured into the underworld for the first time, he was hoping to find his sister. He did not expect to find Nico di Angelo. After the tragic death of his sister Gracie, Will Solace hatched a plan - go to the underworld, seek an audience with Hades, and lead her out of the underworld just like Orpheus had tried before him - but his attempts were immediately waylaid by Hades’s mysterious son, Nico. What started off as a rivalry shifted into something more, and soon Will found himself dropping by the underworld every week to spend time with the boy who stole his heart - and whose heart he may have stolen back. There was just one problem: Nico couldn’t leave the underworld and Will couldn’t stay. Despite the insurmountable odds, Will was determined to make a relationship between them work - if only he could find a way to get Nico out. (Canon Divergent AU in which Nico grew up in the underworld. Solangelo star-crossed lovers. Witten for the @solangelo / @solangeloweek prompts light/dark/boundary.)

Does Damien have any cat-like qualities like his father?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course he does!
Dice is usually the one to trigger the laser pointer since he's really the only one who could get away with it. Not to mention, Damien doesn't have a lot in common with his father, so his dad makes sure to give them some sort of bonding time. (Usually to Devil's annoyance)
Devil loves Damien don't get me wrong, but he's not the best with kids, and Damien is a lot more like his dad than he is his father, anyways. I promise he does try his best!
Don't steal my art, or I promise I WILL find out and I WILL break your knees.

prythian university had always been your dream.
it was a top school, boasting the most famous alumni and their academic achievements. you knew since you were young that this was where you wanted to end up and had worked your whole life for it. even if being accepted was more than enough, you knew it couldn’t end there. you spent your time dedicating everything to the school so you could still claim being valedictorian at your university graduation too.
while it was stressful, prythian was definitely worth it. you loved the campus life, being able to admire all the historic buildings and how big their library was everyday. even your professors, who were rumored to be some of the harshest, were friendly towards you. a part of you wanted to stay in this part of the city forever, it almost seemed better than your life at home.
what you hadn’t expected from going to prythian were the three famous names on campus. they were your most infuriating classmates, blocking your way everyday from the crowds gathering around them and giving you a headache all the whispers about them in class.
azriel was the only one you could tolerate. he kept his head down and sat at the back of the class, and was always quiet and respectful. that’s what you appreciated about him. the only thing that turned you away from him was that one time you were ever late to class and the look he’d given you as you walked in.
he was cold, you thought. you could feel his glare on you whenever you were nearby. he refused to talk to anyone, even turning his head at others who were just asking if the seat next to him was available. sometimes you wondered how someone so reserved could get along with cassian and rhysand.
at least he wasn’t a menace; that was cassian’s job. you probably found him the most annoying out of the three. he was always the one asking the most impractical questions in class, clearly just to get a reaction out of everyone and to annoy the professor. you recoiled everytime he gave that big grin afterwards, thinking he’d done something.
you hated how loud and immature him and his jokes were. you never understood what the appeal of him as a jock was. high-fiving every other person in the halls and causing a group to form around him.
while cassian got on your nerves the most, rhysand was your least favorite. he was the combination of azriel’s coldness and cassian’s boldness. he had always pissed you off ever since he flaunted the fact he got a higher mark on a first year exam. would someone like him even realize how hard you’d worked?
it never failed to confuse you how someone like rhysand, who partied every weekend with his friends and caused a pandemonium everywhere he went, could be compared to you. you, who had stayed up every night in your dorm room alone studying. and he was your competition?
it never made sense to you. you never understood why people were so drawn to them, why they were considered the best of prythian university, and what was so enticing about them when all they’ve done is act like fools to you. even seeing how your professor would smile at them as the boys walked out of class enduringly, despite the boys giving them a headache for the day. you tried to ignore whenever your classmates and even friends asked about them, how much it annoyed you that they were praised for nothing.
perhaps you could understand why some would find them attractive. it’s hard not to have your eyes on them — the way their tall figures walked down the hallway. you ignored the way your eyes lingered at rhysand sometimes, how sometimes you avoided him because you couldn’t hold his gaze and not purely because you hated him.
but as of now, as far as you knew, you wanted nothing to do with prythian’s golden trio and made it your goal to absolutely become better than rhysand.

what’s ur newest fic abt??
I'm still figuring out the best way to summarise/describe this fic to people because this one is A Journey, so can I interest you in a sneak peek instead? I've been calling it my solangelo starcrossed lovers AU, but the actual starcrossed lovers part isn't relevant until halfway through the fic lmao whoops Obligatory disclaimer that this is a work in progress and is subject to change in the final version <3
Going to the underworld was a bad idea.
Will knew it was a bad idea, but he found himself in Central Park with a ukulele strapped to his back anyway.
What other choice did he have? His sister was dead, and his healing could do nothing for someone whose thread the Fates had cut. It was bad enough that Lee and Michael had died during the Titan War; he couldn’t accept losing Gracie too.
If bargaining with Hades himself was what it took to get her back, then so be it. He was not losing another sibling.
Will spent the better part of an hour searching Central Park for the entrance before he eventually stumbled upon a pile of boulders just north of the pond. They didn’t look like much even to his demigod eyes, but a dark sense of foreboding emanated from them and he knew this was what he was looking for.
The Doors of Orpheus.
The closest entrance into the underworld, and the inspiration behind his plan to save his sister.
Finding this made what he was about to do feel more real, but he had come too far to turn back now. This entire plan hinged on his ability to keep moving forward and to never look back.
Will removed the ukulele from his back, and began softly strumming one of his mother’s songs. They always brought him comfort, and he needed that comfort now more than ever. His voice was unsteady due to his nerves, but he poured his grief into the performance, hitting each note with passion and fervour until he was interrupted by a loud groan.
The ground shook as the boulders shifted, and slowly a triangular crevice revealed itself. The gap was just wide enough for a person to squeeze through, and he was hit with the smell of mildew, decay, and dust. When Will peeked inside, he couldn’t see a thing.
It was dark and creepy, but down those long winding steps was the god who could return his sister to him, and so he took a deep breath, slung the ukulele across his back, and pushed into the gap.
Will had barely made it down ten steps when the rocks began to groan again, and the doors shut behind him.
He was officially past the point of no return. There was no changing his mind now. Whatever happened, happened.
“Well, here goes nothing,” he muttered to himself.
With the doors closed, there was no more sunlight to light the way, and Will was plunged into pitch black darkness. He had always been frustrated at how useless some of his powers could be, but he was grateful for one in particular at that moment.
Will took a deep breath and slowly exhaled. His skin began to emit a gentle glow, and it lit enough of the passageway that he could see where he was stepping. With one hand on the cold damp wall, and the other gripping the strap of his ukulele, he made his way down the stairs.
This was where he was going to lead Gracie on the way out, and where he assumed Orpheus tried to lead Eurydice. Now that he was making the journey himself, he could understand why Orpheus had been so paranoid.
Even with his glow, it was impossibly dark down here, and sometimes he swore he could see something move in the shadows. The soundscape of New York City was silenced, and the tunnel was filled with nothing but his own breathing and heartbeat. At one point, he thought he heard footsteps further down and almost slipped down the stairs in his surprise, but he swallowed his fear and pressed on.
Gracie needed him to be brave and focused. No matter what he saw or heard, he was going to do what Orpheus failed to do and lead her out of here without looking back. All he had to do was convince Hades to let him try (something he suspected was easier said than done).
The staircase seemed to go on forever, but eventually, the darkness began to brighten. Will switched off his glow to conserve his energy once he was certain he could see without it, and soon he reached his destination at the bottom.
The underworld.
It was everything he thought it would be and worse.
The staircase opened up onto a beach of black volcanic sand. The roar of the River Styx was loud in his ears as it cascaded down the rocks and winded its way through Erebos. Far above him hung a ceiling of stalactites, no sky or clouds in sight, and the lack of natural sunlight was making him feel oddly lethargic. The smell of sulphur was so strong it made his eyes water.
Will surveyed his surroundings until he saw it: off in the distance, camped out along the horizon, was Hades’ palace. Its obsidian walls were tall and imposing, and dread settled into his stomach at the mere sight.
He was going to march through those bronze gates and demand an audience with Hades, arguably the most intimidating god in the pantheon.
Gods, he hoped Hades wasn’t in a smiting mood.
Will took a deep breath to steel himself, and stepped forward, sneakers crunching on the sand as he walked.
“Going somewhere?”
Will was not proud of the string of expletives that left his lips at the sudden voice. He whipped around in shock, and only then noticed that someone was leaning back against the cliff wall next to the stairs.
His first thought was that this was a god, but he was fairly certain Hades was not in the habit of appearing like a sixteen year old boy in a My Chemical Romance t-shirt, and he had no other ideas on which god this could be.
His second thought was that this was a demigod, but that didn’t make any sense either. Nobody went to the underworld unless they had no other choice. Not to mention, as head medic, it was Will’s responsibility to know everyone at Camp Half-Blood and he liked to think he would have remembered a face like that.
The boy looked to be about his age, give or take, with messy black hair that tumbled down to his shoulders. His face was angular with a hooked nose, a sharp jaw, and sharper cheekbones, and his mesmerising eyes were so dark they looked almost black. It would not be difficult to get lost in eyes like those.
What really caught Will’s eye, however, was the third degree burn scars on his right arm. Patches of harsh red and scorched black skin dotted his arm all the way from the back of his hand up to his elbow. He knew just from looking at him that the injury had to be years old and long past the point his healing would have any real effect, but still, the healer in him wanted to take a closer look to see just how deep that burn went.
The scarring proved this couldn’t be a god - no god would choose to appear with anything less than perfect skin - so this had to be a demigod.
But what was a demigod doing down here?
Regardless, Will knew better than to snark at someone who may or may not be a god, so he stood up straight, held his head high, and defaulted to deference. “I’m here for an audience with Lord Hades.”
The boy raised an eyebrow and looked him over, his gaze fixing on Will’s ukulele. “If your plan is to sing a song so pretty it convinces him to let you bring a loved one back to life, you might as well give up now because it’s not going to work.”
The immediate dismissal hit him like a punch to the gut. “You don’t know that,” Will shot back defensively.
“I think I do, actually.”
“Why?”
“Well, for a start, it didn’t work out for Orpheus, so I don’t know why you would think it would work for you. Secondly… he hates the ukulele.”
Will’s face burned in embarrassment, and he gripped the strap self-consciously. “But… it’s my Dad’s.”
“And who’s your Dad?”
“Apollo?”
The boy snorted. “Even worse. He hates Apollo. You don’t stand a chance.”
When Will went spelunking through the Big House attic in search of an instrument (one he could smuggle out of camp without his siblings noticing it was missing anyway) and he happened upon a ukulele that his father had blessed, he had taken it as divine endorsement of his plan. Apollo himself approved of Will’s mission to rescue his daughter, and directed him to one of the few instruments Will knew how to play. In a world dictated by prophecies and fate, there was no such thing as coincidence.
Now that a random teenager who spoke like he knew Hades personally was telling him that he was doomed to fail, his confidence was shaken. He already knew this was a longshot. He already knew that this was going to be one of the most difficult things he had to do. What did it say about his chances that a kid from Hades’ court thought it was impossible?
…But giving up meant dooming Gracie to an untimely death, and he just couldn’t do that.
“I guess we’ll find out,” Will said stubbornly. “Now if you’ll excuse me….” He spun on his heel, and continued on his way towards Hades’ palace.
Will half-expected the boy to follow him, but he heard no footsteps behind him, and breathed a sigh of relief.
He thought he had escaped him and his judgement until the boy popped out from behind a fallen stalactite and fell into step beside him.
Wait. How did he get in front of him?
Will looked back over his shoulder at the cliff face - a distance too far to walk that quickly - and back at the boy who merely raised a brow at him as if Will was the weird one for being so confused.
Did he teleport?
“You know, you’re not the first person since Orpheus to try this stunt,” the boy said as if whatever just happened didn’t happen, “and every single person before you failed. They weren’t even allowed to try. What makes you so special that you think he’s going to let you?”
That’s the problem: Will didn’t think he was special, and there was nothing about his situation that felt particularly unique or worthy of Hades’ consideration either. He was here because he loved his sister, and he had to try something to bring her back, no matter how impossible it seemed.
This guy and his pessimism, however, was beginning to piss him off and he had no desire to explain himself to him. Instead, he rounded on him and blurted out, “I’m sorry, who are you?”
“Nico,” he said, as if that explained anything, “and you are?”
Will straightened. “Will Solace. Head medic at Camp Half-Blood.” He watched Nico’s face for any sign that he knew what that was, but his expression remained carefully neutral. “And I’m going to ask Lord Hades to release one of his souls into my care whether you think that’s a good idea or not.”
“I don’t, for the record.”
“Yeah, you made that clear.” Will rolled his eyes and continued walking.
Nico casually strolled beside him. “As head medic, you should know better than anyone that the dead should stay dead. Lord Hades doesn’t appreciate people who try to argue otherwise. If you don’t want to end up dead with them, I suggest you head back now.”
“Thanks for the warning, but I’m well aware of the risks. I know what I’m doing.”
Will could feel Nico’s eyes watching him, but he kept his gaze fixed on the palace. “...If you don’t leave, I’ll be forced to make you.”
“Oh yeah?” Will scoffed. “And how are you going to do that?”
Without warning, Nico grabbed the front of Will’s shirt and shoved him.
The move was so unexpected that Will stumbled backwards with a yelp. There was another fallen stalactite behind him, and his back should have hit it. Instead, all the light around them was snuffed out and they were plunged into freezing cold.
Thousands of whispering voices screamed in his ear. The wind whirred past him so fast it pushed at his face like he had gone down the drop on a rollercoaster. The world around them was completely black, and he could see nothing but Nico’s serene face in front of him, feel nothing but his bony fingers gripping tightly onto the fabric of his shirt.
It only lasted a moment, and Will soon fell flat onto his back with an audible “OOF!”
Disoriented, he blinked up at the cloudy sky. Green grass tickled at his bare forearms.
Will sat up on his elbows and realised he was back outside in Central Park. Nico stood in the Doors of Orpheus, looking down at him with faint amusement. “If you value your life at all, you won’t come back.”
Nico thumped the inner wall of the passageway, and the rocks rolled back into place, shutting Will out and his hopes of rescuing Gracie with him.

Welcome back to the Starcrossed AU, revolving around Damien, son of The Devil and King Dice, who falls head over heels for Ivy, daughter of Cagney Carnation and Hilda Berg.
I started this piece a few months back because @hey-imma-fangirl followed me, and I LOVE their artwork involving Cuphead and their AU. So, in addition to a few things I have been meaning to draw anyways, I also drew Everette Morningstar, their DevilDice fan child!
The problem is that I got hella distracted, and I only just recently found this when going through my WIP folder and deleting stuff I was never going to touch again. So, I finished it today!
Don't steal my art, or I promise I WILL find out and I WILL break your knees.

You’ve known Gyuvin for much longer. You still remembered how your hands were trembling when you first walked into the class. It was 9 in the morning, and nobody seemed to care about you being a new student. You thought that that was the best case scenario, although the lack of reaction had only served in making you feel like a loser.
You remembered Gyuvin walking all the way from the opposite side of the classroom to where you were sitting, just to introduce himself to you. He told you his name, and that he was born in Seoul. He told you that if you needed any help, he was more than willing to assist you in anything.
You were very thankful for him, and you thought that the two of you could be great friends then. However, you quickly realised that Gyuvin had his own group of friends, and you were too shy to simply barge into their conversations and force yourself into the friendship. Therefore, although the two of you were considered as friends from the very first day of school, he didn’t quite feel like one until 4 months later.
You seemed lost in your own thoughts as you recalled your first meeting with Gyuvin, you weren’t really sure why you even thought about him all of a sudden. Perhaps it was the nostalgic feeling from unpacking all of your childhood stuff from the move-in boxes, or maybe it was the fact that Yujin had just announced that he was coming over to help around the house.
As if on cue, you watched the very person you were thinking about walk into your house, accompanied by Yujin. Like a typical Korean visitor, he immediately walked past you and towards your mother, introducing himself properly. A smile that was barely visible was formed on your face as you watched your friend. You didn’t realise even the smallest things such as the customs of your hometown could be missed.
You felt a hand on your shoulder, your eyes darted to Gyuvin who was now in front of you. “Are you okay? You look distracted.” He asked, a hint of curiosity evident in his voice. You shook your head as you let out a dry chuckle. “I guess I am. I’m a little tired from this cleaning spree,” you admitted, looking behind at the mountains of boxes that were still untouched.
“It’s not like Yujin is of much help. He’s just been trying to find anything embarrassing I owned as a kid,” you continued, scratching the back of your neck from feeling flustered. Gyuvin giggled as he looked over at your younger brother. “He’s so cute! You’re lucky. My younger siblings hate me.” He pouted, he put his hands on his hips to add into the dramatic effect.
You gave him a look, “I wonder why.” You smiled, followed by Gyuvin’s fake-gasp. You could feel someone approaching you, your gaze leaving Gyuvin, and towards the presence, only to be met with Yujin. He was standing awfully close to you, which made you wonder what he wanted.
Yujin put an arm around your shoulder, leaning into your ear to whisper something. “Stop flirting with him, it’s gross.” He backed away, his face morphed into a disgusted expression. You raised an eyebrow at your younger brother, swatting his arm away from you. “You’re such a freak,” you mumbled, loud enough for Yujin to hear, but quiet enough that your mother wouldn’t.
Gyuvin only stared at the two of you in confusion, but decided not to get himself in the middle of two siblings bickering. “Who should I help? Ms Han? Y/N? Yujinnie?” He asked, a proud smile on his face as he waited for someone to ask for his help. “You should help Y/N. Her noodle hands can’t even carry one box by herself.” Yujin continued teasing, you were about to give his shoulder a hard slap but he saw it coming, and dodged it.
“Also because I don’t want to hear Gyuvin waffling about his friendship breakup. This cleaning spree is already annoying as it is.” He continued, immediately making his way to your mother. Gyuvin frowned at Yujin’s lack of empathy for his situation — although he admits, it wasn’t a big deal — you on the other hand, was quite concerned with what Yujin had said. Friendship breakup? Did he get into a fight with Gunwook?
You noticed Gyuvin looking over at you as if he was waiting for your order. The need to be nosy and know more about the ‘friendship breakup’ your brother mentioned was heightened. You told Gyuvin that you needed help bringing the boxes upstairs to where your room was, and he happily helped carry the multiple boxes at once.
You were a little nervous bringing a boy, or anyone in general, into your room for the first time ever, you never had the chance to do so back then — when your parents used to fight all the time. It felt all too weird, and uncomfortably new.
Shaking off the bad memory, you tried starting a conversation with Gyuvin to distract yourself from it. “Did you get into a fight with Gunwook or something?” You asked as soon as he settled down in your room. Gyuvin’s eyes widened a little, his mouth slightly hung open when you mentioned his friend’s name. He shook his head, “not just him — but it’s not really a fight, I guess I’m just upset.” He sighed, his hands wandering around the box to figure a way to open it.
You could tell from his body language that he was avoiding eye contact, you were unsure if he was uncomfortable with the topic of friendship, or if he was just embarrassed of being upset over something that people might assume is small.
You took out a picture of you and Minji from the box he was practically hugging, looking away from him in a way to make him feel less uncomfortable. “You don’t have to talk about it,” you told him as you placed the picture on your nightstand. “No, I do want to talk about it, but I feel silly — I feel dramatic.” Gyuvin sighed, standing up to walk towards you.
Eyes darting towards the tall boy, you thought of teasing him a little — just to cheer him up. “Does Gyuvinnie need a hug?” You laughed, you didn’t really spread your arms to welcome him into a hug, it was really meant to be a joke. Although, upon seeing how his eyes lit up, and how quickly he nodded to your question, you felt a little bad leaving him hanging.
You sighed, at that moment, he reminded you of Yujin. You gave his shoulder a pat, before leaning in to hug him. It was an awkward hug — you’ve never actually hugged him before, there was even space in between the two of you, it was honestly laughable. Gyuvin appreciated it, though.
“Thanks, dude,” he mumbled, his head resting on your shoulder. “It’s Ricky, by the way, I know he’s your boyfriend, or whatever.” He continued mumbling. Your heart skipped a beat upon hearing his name, but you kept a calm composure — you didn’t want to let Ricky’s best friend, of all people, figure out that you’ve got a massive crush on him.
You broke away from the prolonged awkward hug, taking a seat on the edge of your bed. You raised an eyebrow at him, you were about to correct him on his statement, “are you guys dating?” He asked, cutting you off from what you were about to say. You pressed your lips together, looking away from Gyuvin as you shook your head.
“Okay, I won’t feel like I’m badmouthing him then,” he sighed, “he’s just been ignoring me, for a few days now. Thing is, I don’t know what I’ve done, he’s gotten mad at me before, but it has never been this bad before. Not to mention, I’m starting to feel left out by both him and Gunwook because of this.” He started rambling, but you tried your best to listen to him attentively.
Gyuvin looked sad as he tried to tell you why he felt left out, of course you knew what he was talking about. You were there when Ricky invited Gunwook to stay on that day. You didn’t ask about Gyuvin, thinking it wasn’t really your business. Who would’ve known it would actually lead into something as big as this.
Gyuvin was sitting on the floor, it was clear he didn’t want you to see his sad expression. You knew he was sulking about it — rightfully so. You could tell that Gyuvin really cherishes and loves his friends, and he was evidently upset. Maybe he just convinced himself that he was being dramatic. Although, in your point of view, you would’ve reacted the same way if Minji left you out the way Ricky did.
You got off of your bed, you let your back slide against your bed as you sat down on the floor with Gyuvin. You were hesitant, at first, but you powered through with what you had in mind. Your arm reached out to wrap itself around his shoulders, in hopes that it’ll give him comfort.
With a sigh, you gently caressed the side of his shoulder. You were unsure with what to do, but you let your sisterly instincts take charge of your actions. “It’s alright, Gyuvin, your feelings are valid. You shouldn’t make yourself feel stupid for feeling upset.” You gave his shoulder a light squeeze as you whispered.
Gyuvin’s head was still looking down to the floor — he wasn’t crying, obviously — but he just didn’t want you to see him when he’s sad. “You know,” he exhaled, as if trying to gain courage to look at you, “me and Ricky, we’ve been friends for 7 years now. If there was any conflict between us, we’d always talk it out. Which is why I’m so sad that he’s just ignoring me this time around.” His shoulders dropped in disappointment.
You honestly felt sorry for him, you wondered what made Ricky react the way he did towards Gyuvin. You didn’t really know Ricky that well, so you didn’t want to judge him after only hearing Gyuvin’s side of the story. “When I get into an argument with Minji, we’d ignore each other for a while too. I guess it’s just normal. Maybe give him a week, and then you should try talking to him again!” You advised, you weren’t sure how useful your input was, but Gyuvin seemed satisfied enough.
He caught you by surprise when he pulled you into a hug — almost like a sideway hug, if that was even a thing. “I really needed somebody that wouldn’t belittle me for my feelings, thanks Y/N.” He mumbled as his head rested on top of yours. You nodded, unsure with how you were supposed to respond.
He seemed to be in good spirits afterwards, immediately suggesting that the two of you should get back to work. He pointed out that the most important thing was to hang the curtains in your room — even lecturing you about how dangerous it is to have no curtains for privacy reasons as a girl.
“I would’ve never let my little sister stay in a room with no curtains! Who knows what could happen to her. There’s so many creeps out there, Y/N. You can never be too careful.” He sighed. You didn’t have a ladder to make it easier for you to hang your curtains (which was also the reason why you never hung them in the first place), Gyuvin suggested that he’ll do it while standing on a chair.
The two of you continued talking and joking around as he carefully did the task at hand. He was aware of how clumsy he could get, so he was being extra careful despite having fun with the conversation the two of you were having. The two of you mostly bonded over having younger siblings. You learned that Gyuvin genuinely adores his siblings, and for a second you were glad that Yujin had someone like him to lean onto.
As Gyuvin was stepping down, you could hear someone calling your name, ultimately distracting you. Your grip on the chair loosened as you looked back to the door of your room to see if there was actually someone calling for you. The chair wobbled a little, although Gyuvin already had one foot down. The wobble did affect his balance. Out of panic, he roughly gripped onto your shoulders for support.
Your focus went back to Gyuvin as you grabbed onto his waist to help him regain his balance. The push and pull between the two of you ultimately led to both of you falling, but Gyuvin was quick enough to not fall on you. “You fucking idiot,” he laughed, whispering the curse word.
You let out a giggle as you stared at him from the corner of your eye. “My head is gonna have a bump,” you told him, which only made him laugh even more. “You deserved that for being a dumbass.” He exclaimed, you would’ve continued laughing with him, but it came to a halt when you realised somebody was indeed standing by the door.
Your eyes widened a little at the familiar face. Familiar, handsome face. “Ricky? What are you doing here?” You asked, pushing yourself up from the floor. Your hands quickly dusting off whatever that might’ve been on your shirt, your mind automatically telling you to fix yourself in front of him. Ricky didn’t seemed as delighted to see you, his hand was holding something familiar.
“I stopped by to give you these. I already washed them for you,” his voice was still soft as he talked to you, but his gaze was somewhat… cold? He just seemed unamused. You recalled what Gyuvin had told you, and you figured whatever happened between them was the reason why the air was tense. Passing you the clothes that you had previously left at his house, you noticed he didn’t spare Gyuvin a single look.
You felt a little awkward being caught in the middle of it, racking your brains to figure out what you should say to lighten up the mood. “You should stay for dinner! You too, Gyuvin,” You said, your voice slightly shaking from being nervous. Ricky flashed you a smile, and even in a situation as dire as that, you managed to swoon over him. “I’d love to, but I should get going. Let’s eat lunch together tomorrow, Y/N.” He said. You nodded almost immediately to his suggestion.
Ricky mumbled a ‘bye’ to you, playfully pinching your cheeks before leaving. When you were sure Ricky was far away enough, you let out a squeal. You honestly forgot about Gyuvin being right behind you, and Gyuvin for sure noticed how red your cheeks became. He would be a fool if he didn’t catch onto your feelings for Ricky.
You tried to play it off upon realising you still had a guest in your room, in hopes that he didn’t hear you practically squealing for his literal best friend. “That was crazy. I can’t believe he just popped into my house unannounced,” you laughed dryly, hoping to change the subject. Gyuvin nodded, he didn’t want to make it awkward with you, so he pretended to be oblivious.
“To be fair, the two of you have been going to each other’s houses quite a lot. Almost like you guys are dating.” He teased. You tried not to react to what he had just said, Gyuvin noticed how your cheeks slowly started to flush again. It practically confirmed his suspicions. In fact, he was excited about this newfound information.
He might not be on good terms with Ricky at the moment, but as his friend, Gyuvin silently made a promise to himself that he will make the two of you date each other. He just wished he could tell Ricky of what he just witnessed.

“guess who!”
morrigan’s voice wakes you, causing you to jolt up from your table at the library. you had come here in the afternoon and it was already evening, meaning the sunlight from the library’s large windows had faded and it was starting to become dimly lit. the bright light from your laptop screen only further causes your eyes to strain.
“what are you doing here?” you say after letting out a yawn and stretching out your arms. you move slightly, patting down a seat for mor.
“just wanted to check up on you,” she shrugs. her attention shifts to the papers scattered around the desk, confirming that you had been reviewing your notes all afternoon. mor frowns when she notices the dark circles under your eyes and quietly fixes your hair while you talk about what you were studying for.
your laptop, however, was for a different task. you had been touching up some of the photos you took at rhysand’s photoshoot on your editing software, meaning his face was plastered across your screen. you cringe at the image and at the sight of the man who caused you so much irritation, no matter how good the photoshoot had turned out.
“are you making a fan edit of me now?” rhysand peers over your shoulder.
once again, you’re taken by suprise, almost jumping out of your seat when he appears next to you. perhaps it runs in their family.
“where did you come from?” morrigan almost yells at him. rhysand had been standing behind the both of you, hands in his pockets as he leans over to look at your screen.
“don’t get the wrong idea,” you retort. “i’m editing your photos from our photoshoot.” rhysand gives you a satisfied smile. perhaps it was even genuine.
“i came here to study,” he says, pulling up a chair and moving to sit across from you. “mind if i sit here?”
“actually, yes,” mor says irreverently. her cousin gives her an annoyed look and she crosses her arms. “no wonder my roommate can’t stand you.”
“i can definitely confirm he’s difficult to work with,” you give her a smirk while the both of you hold in your laugh at rhysand’s dismay.
“i will admit, the photoshoot did look good though,” you say hesitantly. “and thank you for crediting me,” you add, “it really helped me as a photographer.”
rhysand feigns shock, “is y/n being genuine for once?”
you immediately take back your words, “i liked you better when you were picking an argument with me.” you could recall the moments since that photoshoot where rhysand had acted normal in class despite knowing about your passion: when you got your exams back, or last week when you scored one point higher than him, or today in class when you started a debate about the formation of the universe. the entire class had witnessed your argument and you could’ve sworn your teacher sighed that you two were bickering again.
“you know that i was right today,” rhysand says, “as i typically am.”
you try not to roll your eyes at him, instead sorting through your notebooks and papers to find the reading you did earlier. “i know i’m right because i actually study the material. it says here that—”
morrigan had already mentally tuned out of your conversation with rhysand, rolling her eyes when you start shoving notes into her cousin’s face. “can the two of you please argue another time?” she almost yawns.
in the corner of your eye, you can see that familiar golden-brown hair peeking out from behind a bookshelf. you want to roll your eyes as you realize she’s watching how rhysand acts with you. nesta would definitely be teasing you about this later. you notice a second person’s hand covering her face as she giggles, spotting her brighter hair between the gaps in the books, and realize elain was spying on you too.
maybe going to the library was a bad idea today.
rhysand, the oblivious fool that he was, did not see the sisters behind him watching you. you wondered if he was even aware people did this to him, considering how your friends were definitely not the only people on campus to be interested in him like this. you nearly cringed as he continued rambling about how his argument was right, never dropping that satisfied look on his face. he hadn’t realized that you weren’t focused on the conversation anymore.
“do you always have to challenge me, rhysand?” you finally ask.
“do you always have to be right, y/n?” he quickly counters, further proving your point.
“well maybe, it’s because—”
you’re interrupted by the sound of loud footsteps and two large figures walking up to you, causing a few heads to turn in the library, including nesta and elain. you don’t recognize cassian and azriel, who you only knew as rhysand’s friends, until they come up behind rhysand and cassian starts to talk.
azriel pulls up a chair to sit with the both of you while cassian stands behind rhysand, hugging his friend from the back. rhysand seems amused, exchanging greetings with his friends before they finally noticed your presence.
“sorry, y/n, i hope you don’t mind us stealing away your boyfriend for a minute,” cassian gives you a smug look. “we just need rhys for a moment.”
you stare blankly at cassian, blinking. is that what they’ve been thinking? maybe rhysand had become more tolerable to you, but you still had every right to be annoyed with his friends. cassian looked like he was about to start laughing at rhysand before you look him straight in the eyes.
you lean back into your chair, crossing your arms and glaring at cassian, “he’s not my boyfriend.”
“he talks about you all the time,” azriel chimes in. this was perhaps your first time hearing his voice properly. in the few classes you had with him, azriel rarely spoke and brushed off anyone who tried to start a conversation with him. even a few more heads turned towards him when he spoke in front of you.
a look of panic flashed in rhysand’s eyes and he gave azriel a nudge with his arm, causing the dark haired boy to chuckle. morrigan makes a disgusted face, giving cassian and azriel a look that would’ve made you shut up instantly. but instead, they both continued.
“well then, i can’t really blame you for not wanting to date rhysand,” cassian is now standing over your table, placing his hands in his pockets as he leans down towards you. “he’s insufferable.”
“he is,” the cold tone remains in your voice, though an amused smile begins to tug on your lips.
“don’t say that, y/n. he’ll be so heartbroken later,” azriel speaks, a similar reluctant smirk appearing on his face too.
“that’s enough!” rhysand snaps, “stop embarassing me.”
you’re about to burst out laughing with cassian when rhysand suddenly slams his hands on the table, insisting that his friends leave with him. you don’t object to rhysand cutting his visit to the library short, watching how mor chuckles as rhysand drags azriel away and bids cassian to follow behind them. it’s like the four of them have a secret that you’re not in on. cassian gives you a playful wave goodbye that you hesitantly return before the three of them quickly disappear from your peripheral vision.
“that was… interesting,” you say to morrigan, only moments before nesta and elain confront you. you were still trying to process the fact that cassian and azriel had even looked in your direction, let alone without any disgust. some of the rudest people you knew on campus had just started a conversation with you, all because you happened to know rhysand.
nesta pretends to dust off the books on the shelves as she walks towards you, tracing the patterns on your wooden desk once she reaches you, her eyes almost bulging when she glances at all your papers. “y/n,” she says in a sing-song voice, it’s the first time you’ve ever seen her smile like that, “what was that about?”
elain doesn’t even bother to be discrete, simply trailing behind nesta and appearing behind her. although she obviously isn’t as curious, her eyes are also widened like she has questions about that interaction too.
morrigan nearly scoffs, “you mean rhysand?”
“i already know about him,” nesta’s smile almost drops completly as her face twists, “who was that big, strong friend he brought?”
“you mean cassian?” you say, mor nearly starts laughing again.
“he seems cute,” nesta shrugs, then continues teasing you. “does our y/n now have men fawning over you?” she gives you a look with a smirk.
“absolutely not.”
elain suddenly joins, her voice remains quiet and hesitant when she asks, “what about the taller one?”
she receives a look from both you and nesta, and you’re suddenly reminded of just how coldly azriel treats people. perhaps nesta would get along with him, but your other friends would definitely dislike him if they saw him in class the way you did.
“he seems kind,” elain softly says.
“something tells me you’ll be seeing a lot more from the three of them,” morrigan playfully hits your arm, your three friends officially ganging up on you to your dismay.
