thinking again about how much I wish more sentient species in Star Wars had tails

there's like... almost *none* in current show/film canon. not sure about the comics. think there might be some mentioned in books but with no visuals only text descriptions.

lots of aliens with other feline and/or canine features for instance... but never including tails??

I'm assured that this is impossible in both Legends and Canon because apparently Togruta evolved to blend in with red grass (which I guess is ubiquitous across Shili except in Ahsoka's village) and only change colour if they leave Shili, but headcanon be upon yer arses:

Originally, the Togruta evolved colours and patterns for camouflage, but with the mix that we see in TCW, most prominently, that feels like a stretch. So what I like to think is that previously you had the blue people of the northern ice wastes, the brick-skinned tribes who lived among the red grasses and the green forest folk, but over the millennia since Shili unified, well the Togruta have married and made babies across all the old divides. Thus we have the pick'n'mix of colours we see in Star Wars.

Okay, so I've been working on a ton of human anatomy studies lately, and I feel like doing something different. Plus, I have time to kill between a bunch of loads of laundry today, so does anyone have suggestions for SW creatures or non-Human-like species?

speaking of Arkanians, which are stated to be 5'9 and weigh 165.

He has long black hair. And as the wiki has already stated, shimmering skin like a rainbow, with bright yellow multifcated eyes. Other then that I am guessing he's humanoid

Fun fact! The Kel Dor, pictured above in the form of Jedi Master Plo Koon, come from a planet dominated by large gas vents. Kel Dor names, as a result of living near those vents, take after the sounds produced by the expelling gases.

If you ever want to make a Kel Dor character for a roleplaying game, an OC or for any other reason, keep that in mind so you can find a good authentic name for them. I use the sounds of old steam-powered machinery!

@indira-korr this reminds me of darlac babies in the early cute phase. From a biological pov neonates who solicit care from their progenitors trend towards cuteness. Neonates that expect to have to shift for themselves very rapidly trend towards being more equipped and less adorable.

Human babies are so vastly helpless they go heavy on the cute to win parental investment. Clearly taking after Darren I'd say 😁

I could swear that just a few months ago the official life expectancy for Togruta was 150, but Wook now says 90. Has there been a change? Did I hallucinate it? Was it just fanon all along?
