one of the funniest things about garashir are all those times when julian bashir -- not unequivocally the most autistic person in the quadrant only because odo and worf are also here -- steps in to function as garak's emotional support social skills. 'garak this isn't helping/garak this isn't the time/garak baby if I can read the social writing on this wall it's time to get out let's go go go'

there are many neat reptilian characteristics that one can give Cardassians. I've seen shedding scales, tails and claws, scent marking, and people making them ectothermic.
but consider:
Color changing ridges. Just for funsies. We already tend to headcanon that the ridges and spoons (chula, if you prefer) turn blue when aroused, mimicking the make up they wear in canon, but it would be a bit interesting if the ridges were Fully color changing, a la chameleons. Especially if they changed color based on emotions.
Because their culture is very focused on the Good of the State, it would probably be taboo to have your emotions plainly visible (too much risk of your colors giving away the fact that you aren't 100% content blindly serving the state). I think it would be typical to wear make up to cover up the color changing scales, or to wear paint in 'positive' colors.
Soldiers and the Obsidian Order might even find a way to chemically neutralize the color changing, either temporarily or permanently - it could be far too much of a liability, if someone got captured and interrogated.
Most non-Cardassians would be entirely unaware that this was a normal part of Cardassian physiology. Novels might have oblique references to the colors when describing emotions, but any book that spoke too clearly of them would be almost sure to get banned. Bashir would be slowly taking notes about which colors in novels seemed to correspond to which emotions, but he'd have no idea that it was because Cardassians could Literally Turn Those Colors. He'd just assume their color theory was different, and that they were Really into color metaphors for some reason.
Could be interesting to explore the cultural implications and see what kinds of new mischief happens on the station due to it.

I happen to see many redesigns and reimaginations of star trek aliens, but very few about humans if any.

I’m just curious since most of the old married Spirk fics I have read don’t really touch on Bones’s situation. I once read a really intriguing one where he was married to Natira!

really important star trek question: can vulcans smoke weed?
cause they can’t get drunk by alcohol but chocolate has an equivalent effect so is it the same for weed?
what mundane human substance should be vulcan marijuana?
i think catnip is a fine option cuase vulcans are evolved from felines i think but it’s also kinda boring
i cant think of anything better than catnip so suggestions welcome!

I’ve been turning this idea over in my brain, basically it sums up too, would cuteness aggression be like a real thing for Vulcans?
Like that feeling you get when something is so cute you wanna take a bite because of the surge of affection. Would a Vulcan child, a little too young to fully grasp their emotional control, take a bite out of their toy because the cute aggression won? (Insert bite proof toys for Vulcan kids).
Would Vulcans be surprised humans experience this too? Like I’m imagining a Vulcan on an exploratory mission, maybe with Star Fleet or just working adjacent with star fleet officers. And they run into some cute, harmless unknown creatures. And a human science officer sees the creature and is like “Oh it’s so cute, I want to squeeze it til it pops.” But then notices the Vulcan scientist also observing the creature and sees their eye brows raise, but as she’s about to explain herself the Vulcan goes “I wasn’t aware that humans also experienced this affliction, but I understand where you are coming from.”
And idk something something they bond over their love for cute shit.

We no longer reveal totality within ourselves by lightning flashes. We approach it through the accumulation of sediments. The poetics of duration (another leitmotiv), one of the first principles of the sacred, founding books of community, reappears to take up the relay from the poetics of the moment. Lightning flashes are the shivers of one who desires or dreams of a totality that is impossible or yet to come; duration urges on those who attempt to live this totality, when dawn shows through the linked histories of peoples. Sediment then begins first with the country in which your drama takes shape. Just as Relation is not a pure abstraction to replace the old concept of the universal, it also neither implies nor authorizes any ecumenical detachment. The landscape of your word is the world's landscape. But its frontier is open.
Edouard Glissant, Poetics of Relation

Anson Mount in "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Exploring Season 2" interview
Not being allowed to reveal much about Season 2, Anson was asked safer questions: he talked about loving Star Trek since he was a child, what makes Star Trek different from other sci-fi shows, the various genres episodes in s1 and s2 are exploring (the cast mentioning "taking big swings" in s2 and pointing to episode 9 in particular), and what it was like sitting in the Captain's chair for the first time.

I asked this about Kirk earlier, but I’m curious what you all think McCoy would do if he wasn’t a doctor for whatever reason! (Also not including nurses or paramedics)

i know that there’s been many blue eyed actors who have played vulcans, but i’d like to think that the blue eye mutation just doesn’t exist for them. there are no blue eyed vulcans. all brown, actually. maybe a little hazel as a treat.
when they first saw zefram cochrane they said fascinating with .2% more vigor than the standard intonation
