Nancy's trek home was a familiar one. She had remembered every little trail, path, she could tell you the order of each house and who lived there in her sleep. Town was far from her home, living on the outskirts in the more rural, less populated wooded side of Castle Rock. You could say it fit her family and their lifestyle.
But the silence of her walk back to the Sullivan residence was immediately disturbed by a sound that just screamed trouble, causing her to come to a halt and swiftly spin around to see the cruising car off in the distance, growing closer with its increasing speed, the haze of dust like pillars of smoke behind it while it blazed down the dirt road. It would almost be a comical sight with how many boys seems to be nearly pouring out of the top-less car, all shouting and hollering loud enough it almost tuned out the blaring music from the cars radio that grew louder as it neared.
"Oh great." She breathed out, not sure if she was more nervous or annoyed. She was feeling a little foolish that she spent so long just standing there and watching rather than swiftly turning back and all but running home, yet here she was. hoping that they wouldn't have taken notice of her yet.
"Hey, fellas, look who it is! Miss Crybaby herself!"
"Hey there, Nancy!"
"Where you off to, sweetheart?""
She already felt that dread the second she heard her name being shouted, the car screeching to a halt up close to her side as that group of Ace's known as the Cobras began calling out to her from the car, Ace himself in the driver's seat with that smirk on his face you'd wish you could just slap rather cigarette from his lips. One was even holding a baseball bat from their hunt for poor house's mailboxes, now dented in as some sort of summer day entertainment.
"You're not goin' far, I'm sure me and the boys wouldn't mind givin' you a ride." The Cobra she knew by the nickname Eyeball commented, leaning over the passenger side door so far you'd think any false move and he'd fall right out, but he had that Cheshire grin, nudging one of his pals at his side. "Ain't that right, boys?"
"Hop in Nancy, you know you want to." Billy snickered. "Me and the boys could use a little lady's company."
She continues to try and her best and ignore them, eyes trained in front of her on her path as her lips are sealed shut- forming into a tight frown, hugging her books firmly to her chest, her grip almost tightening with each catcall and holler toward her.
But it seems Ace isn't letting her get away that easy, simply hitting the gas peddle and speeding back up to her side, slowing down his speed at her side to match her steps. He leers at her, cerulean eyes looking her up and down as if he was sizing her up, befire looking back to the road ahead. "Just get in the car, Nancy." He says - no, demands, exhaling a cloud of smoke from his lips.
"I'm not in the mood for games today, Ace." She says, quiet and barely heard over the other voices from the Cobras. She stays firm on her word. Finally glancing toward them, her big brown eyes look them over for a second warily. "Or to be a source of entertainment." She adds with a small furrow in her brows.
"Hey now, trynna make me look bad in front of the boys?" He seems to tease, his smirk having a wave effect as the Cobras mimicked it with snickers. "Get in the car. We'll even take you to the soda store and get you something sweet so you ain't complainin' the whole drive to town."
"I'm not goin' anywhere with you." She immediately defends, turning to face the car full of boys, stomping her foot out of frustration. She's speaking to all of them, but it seems slightly aimed towards Ace more than anything. "I've got more important things today than for you to chase me around for some - some necking." She huffs, a pout falling on her bottom lip. "So if you'll excuse me. I'll be headed home now." She turns on her heel again, not daring to look at them anymore the longer they decide to stick around and annoy her.
The mood soured the minute she had verbally turned them down, Ace's eyes narrowed, and his smirk curled into a sneer as he immediately hit the brakes on the car. He leans over Eyeball and another Cobra slightly in the passenger seat, throwing his arm out to make them lean back enough he could see her on the other side of them, still standing outside of the car, walking.
"You're actin' like you have a say in the matter." He comments, which causes her to pause in her steps, turning back just enough to give him an almost offended expression. "Now you can either get in this car without another word out your trap, or I'll drag you in kickin' and cryin' the whole damn way." He raises a brow as if waiting for her to test him, slowly taking his cigarette from his lips and exhaling the gray haze of smoke in her direction. "Your choice."
Her pout quickly contorts into a look of disbelief and anger, that rosy shade her festering in her cheeks, unable to hide the embarrassment imminent on her pale features. She seems to hesitate for those intense few seconds, all eyes on her awaiting with bated breath. The only sound was the rustling grass in the summer breeze and the engine of Ace's car.
"Have a good day, Ace. Goodbye." She stammers out, keeping up the little confidence she had in her pocket as best she could, rearranging the books in her arms she almost forgot were slipping in her loosening hold, and continued her march home.
The Cobras took a second to look at one another with a collective thought - and Ace didn't like that. She's stubborn, and it pisses him off. The grip on his steering wheel seemed to tighten as he watched Nancy through squinted eyes. The tight frown on his lips seemed more like a snarl as he put his cigarette back into his mouth.
"Fine." He spits under his breath but speaks louder with his next statement. "Why waste all that time on a girl with her ditzy head under her old man's boot anyway, huh Nance?" His voice is laced with sarcasm as he taunts after her, only increasing his growing ego as Eyeball gives him a small encouraging nudge with a snicker.
The second her father is mentioned, Nancy immediately halts and turns around again, getting a rise from the teenage boys as that all knowing sense of trouble brewing fills the air with a tension thick enough you could cut right through it. Her brows knitted together in anger. She immediately begins to march over to the side of the car, pointing at him accusingly.
"You leave my daddy out of this Ace Merrill." She says, that stammer in her voice that was either going to end in tears or anger - perhaps both. She knew damn well her fathers dislike for Ace- the boy himself knew that just as much- so much so it seemed her very own father would rather find her dead in a ditch than spending her time with the Cobras. She didn't know if it was for the sake of his pride or her protection, but she wasn't going to have a word of insult thrown toward him in her presence.
"Come on, Nancy, you're dad's got you in a fuckin' coddle!" Ace almost looks ready to jump over Eyeball and Billy, shifting in his seat slightly and harshly ramming his car into park. "He makes you dress like a prissy toddler in Church and has you home by eight. It's pitiful to keep witnessing. What kind of father does that?"
"The kind of father who's doing his best to protect me from boys like you!" She blurts out, her voice much louder than she wanted - and much louder than something you'd ever hear from a shy girl her. She quickly shuts her mouth, almost slapping her hand directly over her lips as regret seems to wash over her.
Ace leans back into his seat, not saying a word while he cocks his head back. Now the silence was deafening, no one even made a move other than an awkward shift or cleaning of their throat. Ace felt challenged. And he hated that.
He hated it.
Nancy casts her gaze down to her shoes, almost ashamed. The words she nearly shouted still felt bitter on the tip of her tongue. The worst part was that she meant it. It was true. She plays with the little gold heart locket around her neck nervously, a habit she seemed to have picked up as a sort of comfort to combat the still festering of their argument lingering in the summer afternoon air.
She doesn't even have time to react to the sound of a car door slamming and marching footsteps before Ace grabs her harshly - ripping her hands away from the very thing he'd given her. She let's out a small gasp as he pulled her close to him, stumbling into his chest while swiftly turning her head away to try and keep herself away from the burning end of his cigarette, the smoke filling her lungs and making her eyes sting.
"Let me go, Ace." She demands, her voice trembling as she keeps her eyes trained away from him, her throat was becoming tight, and her vision went blurry, now unsure.if it was from the smoke of her overwhelming feelings beginning to bubble over.
"What's the matter, Nancy?" He remarks sarcastically, his grip on her wrist and arm firm as she continued to try and squirm her way out of his arms. "Losing your big girl voice already?"
She can almost feel him speaking with how close he was, the warmth from the end of his cigarette a little too close for comfort against her rosy cheek. "Just let me go." She says, and all that demand in her voice fails her, only ending in desperate please as her face scrunched up with a small sob.
"Oh knock it off with the croodile tears." He growls into her hair, keeping both her wrists held in one hand while he brings his other and grabs her curls, not hard enough he'd hurt her, but firm enough to turn her head so she was finally looking at him. "You like Bad Boys, don't you?" He asks her, his face a breath away from her own.
"Get off of me." She struggles against him for a second, trying to rip his hands from her, but his hold is so tight it hurts, speaking into her brown curls. She can feel tears threatening to fall as she finally looks up to him, almost pleading.
"It's why you got this pretty little thing around your neck anyway, ain't it? Got my heart with you wherever you go?" He spits like venom as he snatches the locket around her neck, tugging on it enough to make her fear it would snap with any further movement. "Want me to just take it back?"
The other Cobras have started to encourage the display, howling and whistling from the car as if it was a source of entertainment. Nancy's humilation and ever growing panic only made them cackle and leer like devils in disguise. "Careful, Ace," Eyeball calls out, leaning over the hood of the car. "I think she's about to start cryin'!"
"Ace, please, I don't want to do this right now." She argues, her lower lip quivering and breathing shakey, her lashes wet with tears as she fought so hard to keep them from falling. "I don't want to talk about it.."
Ace ignores her, brows furrowing as he lets go of her hands and grabs her face, squishing her cheeks enough her lips pursed. He hums as if examining her, pulling in close no matter her on going pushes and hits to his chest. "I think you're right, Eyeball." He says with mock concern, a fake pout forming on his lips. "Gonna cry, Nancy?" The pout quickly turns into something cruel. A grin pulling at his lips as he all but spits his cigarette out onto the dirt road, keeping her head turned right toward him as he chuckles.
"Would a kiss make it all better?"
He doesn't even wait for a reply as he starts to lean in, dipping his head to her all while she still struggles in his arms.
Just before Ace's lips could meet Nancy's- the roaring engine of a car pulls their attention- a familiar red Ford truck quickly pulling up to the opposite side of the road. One of the four bodies jumps out of the drivers, quickly marching over to where Ace and Nancy stood, standing just a bit of a distance away.
"You better get your hands off my sister before I knock your teeth in, Ace." Nancy's older brother, Bradley warned, eyes narrowed.
Ace immediately glares at Bradely, his hands dropping to Nancy's shoulders as he almost fights an eyeroll as if her brother was a nuisance in his way while the Cobras snickered. The three other Sullivan brothers had resided to sitting in the back bed of the truck, but each of them looked itching to step in whenever needed. Of looks could kill, Ace would have dropped dead four times by now.
"Come on, Bradley were just havin' a little fun, aren't we Nance?" Ace replies, his tone sickly sweet as he continues to sheild Nancy from Bradley. "She's a big girl, she can handle her own business."
The toothpick in the corner of Bradley's mouth nearly snaps as he sneers at Ace - the three other brothers sitting in the back of the truck looking on with anticipation.
"It becomes my business when I see Fuckers like you making her cry." He states, taking another step toward him, his eyes leaving Ace to Nancy, watching the way she seemed to hide herself against Ace- as if she was ashamed to be seen like that in front of her brothers, a small sob leaving her.
Ace almost laughs as he cranes his head to the side to look at Bradley, eyeing him up at down for a secondnwith a scoff. "Can't believe you got yourself a sweetheart when you don't know a girl's playin' hard to get, huh Nancy?"
She doesn't answer Ace, her eyes still casted down to the ground, tears straining her rosy cheeks. Her hands were on his chest, gripping his shirt slightly as if it was some silent plead to let her go- but something about it also felt like she was warning him not to take this too far and to start something. She didn't want either sides to get hurt or in trouble.
Pitiful. She looked pitiful. And it made something in Ace hurt, something.ache in his heart that made his hold on her shoulders falter enough it made Nancy looked back up at him rather confused, aiming those desperate glassy eyes right up at him. His jaw tenses a bit, and he visibly swallows, something in his eyes akin to sympathy, but she can't reat it for long before he rolls them as if annoyed.
"Shit." He mutters under his breath, his hands dropping to his sides as he looks to the side, turning away from her for a second.
The second Ace let's her go Nancy rushes to Bradley, running into his arms as he hugs her to his side with one arm, his face softening as she hides her face into his chest and cries. "Damn it, Nancy..." He mumbles, sounding almost disappointed as he shoves her toward their brothers, watching her stumble toward the truck. "Told you to hurry home in the first place."
He then looks back up to Ace and the Cobras, a fierce fire of nothing but pure hatred in his vibrant blue eyes, pointing at him with a glare. "This is your final warning, Merrill. The next time I see you with her, I'm leaving you on the side of the street for roadkill." He threatened.
Ace scowls, arms folded over his chest. He could have said something, he could- and probably would do everything in his power to get Bradley do mad he could commit murder right there, but he didn't. For once, Ace kept his mouth shut. He couldn't stop thinking about that look his girl gave him. Like she hated him. She was scared of him.
His lip just curls back a bit as he eyes up Bradley one final time, fists cleching and unclenching, then stalks over to his car without much of a word, not even saying a thing even as the Cobras whisper and pester him l what his deal was. He just swats them away and shoots a 'shut the fuck up' scowl and gets into his car, slamming the door hard enough it made them wince at the sound.
"You ain't little kids no more." Bradley calls out again, stopping and turning to look at Ace before he opens the door to his truck. "You can't just pull her hair, say sorry, and expect her to come running into your arms like a lovesick puppy. She isn't seven - and neither are you." And with that, he climbs in, tossing his work jacket over Nancy who sat in the passengers seat, making a move to touch her shoulder but she merely curls into herself, keeping her focus outside the truck window.
Ace watches her the whole way, he couldn't find himself unable to look away, that weird faint aching in his chest lingered as he seemed to grip and knead his fingers into his steering wheel without making any other move. The Cobras nit daring to have a say in it either as they watched the red truck slowly drive off farther and father away in the opposite direction of them, slowly disappearing into the distance and kicked up dirt.
He almost seems to be thinking, his eyes trained forward and his lips twitch and shift while he bites at the inside of his cheek, jaw so tight you could see a vein strain in his neck.
"Ay, man," Eyeball nudges Ace's shoulder with his own. "Her brothers just a buzzkill, you of all people should know that -"
"Did you see the way she looked at me?" Ace says, his voice sounding so monotone you could barely register it as a question. "She's never given me..." He stops after a second as he glances toward the guys, watching them look away in an awkward sense. He just sighs.
"Let's get out if this fucking place." He mutters under his breath before anyone could have the balls to speak up. The engine of hid car roaring to life before he starts driving down the opposite way where the red truck disappeared in the distance.

*walks into the frame* PSST! cherryyyyyyyy *whispers* could you write an NSFW alphabet of ace and Nancy? *only if u feel comfortable* *walks away slowly bye cher 👋🏻🩷*
🩷🎀𝑪𝒐𝒃𝒓𝒂𝑩𝒂𝒃𝒚'𝒔 𝑵𝑺𝑭𝑾 𝑨𝒍𝒑𝒉𝒂𝒃𝒆𝒕🎀🩷
I FOUND THE OG!! Hi Anon! Thank you so much for the ask~ 👀 I've never done and NSFW alphabet but these seem fun! Yall should let me know if you'd want more of these!
Note most of these headcanons are around the time Ace and Nancy are in a more committed relationship/married, so it ranges from like 19-22!
A = Aftercare (what they’re like after sex?)
Ace isn't the best in the cleaning up department, and he'll probably just go hop in the shower and ask if Nancy wants to join. But he's real good on checking on his girl and asking if she's feeling good or if she needs anything.
God Ace loves Nancy's post-sex cooking/baking. It's like the best thing he's ever had. When he wakes up in the morning, or even some days it's like she makes dinner a certain type of way that he just has to throw her over his shoulder whilst she's in the middle of dishes and take her upstairs to thank her the way he does best~ 🤭
B = Body part (their favorite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)
Ace loves Nancy's thighs and tits. I just think he's overall a legs kind of guy and his girl's got LEGS. He's an absolute horndog for her. There isn't a second he doesn't have a hand on her thigh while driving or sitting talking with the Cobras. And the way she squeezes them around his hips when she's close is enough to have him cumming right there.
If it counts, his eyes. Nancy loves this look Ace gives her that she knows means once they get home she's in trouble. And he makes sure she sees it cause it's like he's burning two holes into the back of her head from across the room.
C = Cum (anything to do with cum?)
If it's not going inside her, it's going in her mouth. Ace is making sure she swallows all of it or is taking it all so it doesn't get on his cars seats/paint. And I think he's got himself a liitttlle bit of a breeding kink.
D = Dirty secret ( a dirty secret of theirs?)
Some days when he'd have a long day at work or he's feeling a little lonely he has a picture of Nancy kept in one of the center dashes of his car he jacks-off to. It's her in some skimpy swimsuit [at least as skimpy as they could get back in the 50s-60s] posing on a beach that just seems to get his gears turning. 🤷♀️
Nancys is rather tame, she just likes ready some spicy smut books and daydreams about them being her and Ace.
E = Experience (how experienced are they? do they know what they’re doing?)
I think it's said Ace has some experience under his belt with his multiple relationships in his past, so he's probably the one to take charge of most things for a good while, considering poor Nance had little to know understanding considering she waited for him.
F = Favorite position?
If it's in bed, it's usually missionary or mating press, but Ace loves car sex, and he likes cowgirl position while he's laid back in his front seat.
G=Goofy: (Are they serious or goofy in the mood?)
Its pretty serious on both halves, nothing gets too silly or goofy when they're going at it and it stays relatively tame. Rarely, Ace will crack some comment after they finish up to make her giggle, but that's really it.
H=Hair: (How well groomed are they, does the carpet match the drapes?)
Im not sure how well groomed you had to be down there to meet the late 50s/60s etiquette, so I'm just going of my personal thoughts. Ace keeps himself trimmed and neat, at least when he cares to/remembers. He also has a faint blonde happy trail whenever his shirt rides up.
And I'm assuming it was kinda expected of woman back then, so Nancy is usually completely shaven all around down there. [Even though I think Ace could care less about body hair. She's like me and self conscious 😔]
I=Intimacy: (How are they during the moment?)
At first, to Ace it was just... Fucking. But after a while when he found himself unable to feel that good with anyone but her, or whenever he was getting way into it and he found himself muttering about how he was gonna marry her so he could do this to her everyday anytime he wanted, he realized that maybe his girlfriend should be more than some nice peice of ass. And so it grew more intimate and more meaningful as they're relationship grew.
J=Jack-off: (Masturbation Headcanons?)
See the dirty secret above...☝️
K=Kink: (Anything they are into)
Like I said, I could see Ace getting a little baby fever and having a breeding kink. I mean, this man is always trynna win, he pumped THREE babies into this girl and he's very smug about it for a good... Rest of his life.
L=Location: ( Favorite places to do it)
Anywhere and everywhere. Especially in his car. Car sex is something Ace almost makes tradition anytime he has this girl alone I'm his car. It's either in his car, or out by the riverside, which usually starts as wholesome picnicking, mind you. With Nancy making flower crowns while he's fishing, and it slowly turns into full blown love-making on the blanket LMAO.
Nancy doesn't mind and seems to enjoy just as much, but she finds he's a lot more intimate and softer if it's behind closer doors and in the bedroom.
M=Motivation: (What turns them on, gets em going?)
Nancy just has to breath on him and he's on her like a wildcat LMAO. I mean, the way she walks away all huffy and her hips sway in those tight waist skirts, or when she has to hold her skirt down when he's cruising down the road wayy over the legal limit to him the face breeze from blowing her skirt up. Anything this girl does is leaving him hopeless.
Anytime Ace is out working or comes back from work... Oh this girl is fanning herself and struggling to keep her hands to herself. Especially if he's out working on his car, all sweaty and muscles bulging while he's carrying his tools or a tire under his arm, or he's all covered in dirt and hunched over panting from working in the garden... Hunny PRAY FOR HER.
N=No: (Whats something they won't do?)
Ace, as surprising as it is, isn't too find if really hurting Nancy. He'll give her a little slap on the ass or thigh here and there, or bite her and suck on her neck, sure! But I don't think he'd hit her or slap her face, or spit on her. Or begging. He likes it rough, but he knows Nance is a sensitive little thing and he doesn't want her to feel uncomfortable or God forbid not enjoy there intimate moments.
O=Oral: (Giving or receiving? How good are they at it?)
Ace loves receiving- but doesn't give it. Nancy doesn't mind cause he can pleasure her in many different ways, and she also doesn't kind giving him head either. He usually only let's her give him a Blow-job usually in- you guessed it, his car. As well as hand-jobs while he's at the wheel.
P=Pace: (Are they slow or fast?)
Ace starts off slow, getting use to it and getting into the rhythm, but then they start to pick things up, and it gets quick and rough after a minute or two. Rarely is he super soft and slow, the times he was was when they ran away to elope and a few weeks after the triplets were born.
Q=Quickie: (How often are they willing for quickies?)
More than you'd think. Ace is super into quickies and that's usually what's going on in his car behind the wheel LMAO. Sometimes Nance has initiated them, but it's mostly just a quick necking session behind a farm or away from prying eyes.
R=Risks
I don't think these two are up for much from there usually sex life. Maybe they'll shake things up a bit and try something new, but Ace likes to keep things easy and simple with his girl, it always feels better and amazing each and every time anyway so he isn't complaining.
S=Stamina: (How long can they go for? How long can they last)
Id say Ace can go about two or three rounds before he's tired out, and even then he can last a good while before he bottoms out. Nancy can go about two before she's a mess- which just makes Ace push her for another one. 💀
T=Toys?
Nah. I don't know if toys were popular a lot in the late 50s-60s, but Ace or Nancy aren't really ones into it- maybe he'd tie her up/blindfold her with a tie or belt, but that's really it!
U=Unfair: (Do they tease?)
Ace teases, I think he makes comments or playful names during intimacy, but anything like begging I don't think he'd be into. He'd probably tease her for being needy ro begging, but he would withhold anything fromm her. Nancy on the other hand surprisingly, likes to tease lead him on allll day before he can't take it anymore. Some days she just likes torturing him with cat and mouse till he's finally had enough and is dragging her up to there bedroom.
V=Volume: (How loud are they?)
Ace leaves it all to Nancy to let everyone know how good she's getting it. She can be pretty loud, mostly whining and whimpering, but she moans and gasp a little when she's close or he's getting super rough. The most you'll get out of Ace is grunts and sighs, maybe a groan or two, but rarely.
W=Wild card: (Random headcanon?)
Rambles when he gets pussy-drunk. 🙌 And it's the sweetest thing to ever come out of his mouth. It's so funny that it's then and only then he's actually saying something so sweet and intimate.
"God I can't wait to marry you. Then I can do this to you all day every fuckin' day.. You'd like that, yeah?"
"Look at you, all pretty and worked up just for me... Lookin' just like a princess Nance..."
X=X-ray (WHATS GOING UNDER THE PANTS?)
I'd say a good 6.5 inches, more girth than length but even then, nice and average. He has a blonde happy trail that isn't super noticeable with how pale it is. He has a couple veins trailing the sides, and an extremely sensitive one that runs over the underside of his dick.
Y=Yearning: (How big is there sex drive?)
Ace is more than willing to get it on whenever. He's doing it as long as Nance is willing to do it. This man his hornee for his lady and isn't about to turn down any and all requests to head back to their room for some sex after a hard day of working. He's got sex-drive that's pretty constant, but also flexible to fit whenever his girl is in the mood.
Z=Zzz: (How quick are they to fall asleep after?)
Ace is awake for a minute or two before dozing off eventually, Nancy stays awake for a couple. He's usually really quiet after, and the only way she knows he's still awake as him drawing lazy circles in her back or rubbing her arm before the motion slows and his hand goes limp. Sometimes he stays awake enough to indulge in some pillow talk. 🩷

“Just right for picking!”
@hypocriticaltypwriter ‘s Nancy Sullivan needed some friends, so I took it upon myself to make a Stand By Me Oc so the adorable gal could have one!
Meet Carolyn Johnson, a sweet gal with dreams of becoming a star. Absolutely idolizimg Judy Garland, wishing to become as big as her someday, once she manages to leave Castle Rock.
She is very new, so I unfortunately don’t have much on her yet. But everyone views her as the sweet girl who couldn’t hurt a fly. The good sister, a responsible babysitter. Someone who wouldn’t dare break the rules.
Though, unfortunately for Ace Merril, she isn’t against chucking a rock at his head for daring to hurt Nancy’s feelings lmao.
I’m very happy with her design, I can’t wait to do more with her!

WOMEN COMICS: WHY THEY TRY HARDER
November 21, 1971
Lucille Ball was on the cover and profiled in the November 21, 1971 issue of Parade, the national Sunday Newspaper Magazine supplement. The inside article was titled “Women Comics: Why They Try Harder” by associate editor Linda Gutstein.
The cover photo was taken from “Lucy and the Indian Chief” (HL S2;E3) in 1969.
The day after this article was published, “Here’s Lucy” premiered “Ginger Rogers Comes To Tea” (HL S4;E11) which was filmed in mid-July on an abbreviated schedule due to an impending actors’ strike.
“You’ve got to believe in what you do. There are actors and reactors. My forte has always been reacting. My writers put in longer and longer reactions.” ~ Lucille Ball
“Lucy is an exaggeration of the everyday housewife, and a happy exaggeration.” ~ Lucille Ball
The other female comics profiled in the article include:
Carol Burnett ~ one of Lucille Ball’s favorite funny ladies. Ball and Burnett took turns appearing on each others’ programs. Lucy lovingly referred to Burnett as “Kid”. Ball died on Burnett’s birthday and, as usual, flowers arrived at Burnett’s door that morning with love from Lucy.
“I play characters in my sketches. Men accept that humor.” ~ Carol Burnett
Joan Rivers ~ was a stand-up, and actress who Lucy encountered several times as a talk show host and once as actress on an episode of “Here’s Lucy” titled “Lucy and Joan Rivers Do Jury Duty” (HL S6;E9) in 1973.
“If a woman’s halfway good-looking, she’d rather be a singer.” ~ Joan Rivers
Phyllis Diller ~ was best known for her eccentric stage persona, her self-deprecating humor, her wild hair and clothes, and her exaggerated, cackling laugh. Diller and Lucille Ball never acted together, but did appear on various TV specials and talk shows together. In a 1972 episode of “Here’s Lucy,” female impersonator Jim Bailey ‘did’ Diller to a tee!
“You have to allow for some exaggerated qualities.” ~ Phyllis Diller
Nancy Walker ~ was a pint-sized musical comedy dynamo of stage and screen. Walker and Ball were both in the film Best Foot Forward (1943). On sitcoms, she is best remembered as Rhoda’s mother on “Rhoda” (1974-78).
Jayne Meadows ~ was known for her infectious laugh and her extensive work in stage plays, teleplays, and in books. Her younger sister was Audrey Meadows, of “The Honeymooners” (1955) TV fame. She was married to host and raconteur Steve Allen. In 1970, she appeared on “Here’s Lucy”.
Audrey Meadows ~ sister of Jayne, was best known for playing long-suffering housewife Alice Kramden opposite Jackie Gleason on “The Honeymooners.” In 1986, she played Lucy’s sister on an episode of the short-lived series “Life With Lucy.”
Anne Meara ~ was part of a comedy team with her husband Jerry Stiller. She also appeared on sitcoms, films, and television commercials. Towards the end of her career, she appeared on “Archie Bunker’s Place.” Meara appeared with Ball on a March 1968 episode of Ed Sullivan’s “Talk of the Town”.
“You know, women and comics have a quality of vulnerability.” ~ Anne Meara
Totie Fields ~ was a stand-up comedian often compared to Don Rickles (because of her insult comedy) and Jackie Gleason (due to her size). She played Poopsie Bubkiss on a 1972 episode of “Here’s Lucy.”
“They didn’t know so they called me the female Jackie Gleason.” ~ Totie Fields
Kaye Ballard ~ was a musical comedy performer and sitcom star best known for playing one of “The Mothers-in-Law” in the Desi Arnaz sitcom opposite Eve Arden. She appeared on “Here’s Lucy” in 1971 in “Lucy and Harry’s Italian Bombshell” (S4;E3).
Eve Arden ~ was one of RKO’s ‘drop gag girls’ along with Lucille Ball appearing together in Stage Door (1937) and Having Wonderful Time (1938). She made a guest appearance as herself on “I Love Lucy” in 1955. She is best known for playing the title role in “Our Miss Brooks” and one of “The Mothers-in-Law” in the Desi Arnaz sitcom opposite Kaye Ballard.
Imogene Coca ~ was best remembered for playing opposite Sid Caesar on “Your Show of Shows”, which ran on NBC from February 1950 to June 1954. She only appeared together with Lucille Ball once, on Bob Hope’s “Women I Love: Beautiful But Funny” in 1982.
Nanette Fabray ~ was a beloved stage and screen performer who won two Emmy Awards for her work with Sid Caesar in 1956 (beating Audrey Meadows, Art Carney’s co-star) and in 1957 (beating Lucille Ball herself). Fabray had severe hearing loss and was an advocate for disability rights. She appeard opposite Lucy in “Happy Anniversary and Goodbye” in 1974.
Peggy Cass ~ was an actress best known for her Oscar-nominated performance in Auntie Mame (1949) opposite Rosalind Russell. Her only appearance with Lucille Ball was when she was Jack Paar’s sidekick on “Jack Paar Tonight” in May 1973.
Mary Tyler Moore ~ was best known as the star of “The Dick Van Dyke Show” (filmed at Desilu) and “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.” In March 1979 Lucille Ball guest-starred on her short-lived variety show “The Mary Tyler Moore Hour”.
Valerie Harper ~ was best known for her role as Rhoda Morgenstern on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “Rhoda”. She got her start on the Broadway stage, singing in the chorus of Wildcat (1960) starring Lucille Ball.
Carol Channing ~ originated the title role in the Broadway musical Hello, Dolly! In January 1964 and played the part until August 1965. She won a Tony Award for her portrayal and would re-visit the role many times during her career. Lucille Ball produced an episode of “The Lucy Show” in which Lucy Carmichael goes undercover as Carol Channing.
Jo Anne Worley ~ was best known for her regular appearances on “Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In,” which was programmed opposite “Here’s Lucy” in the late 1960s and early ‘70s. Unlike some of “Laugh-In” co-stars, she never worked with Lucille Ball.
Ruth Buzzi ~ like Worley, was one of the break-out stars of “Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In”. She made an appearance on “Here’s Lucy” in 1972. In 1986, Ruth Buzzi guest-starred (with John Ritter) on the second episode of “Life With Lucy.” She was nominated for five Emmy Awards and won a Golden Globe in 1973.

Chris Benoit
Guys.
I am so excited to talk about this.
Not because of the context, but because this is one of the reasons I love wrestling so much; there’s so much that goes on behind the scenes that people have NO CLUE about.
There have been several professional wrestlers who have killed people or been killed themselves and the rabbit hole goes deep.
(Rey Mysterio accidentally killed a man on live tv and they still have the video up on YouTube.)
(Jimmy ‘Superfly’ Snuka murdered his girlfriend in May of 1983. Who is Jimmy Snuka? Jimmy Snuka was related to The Rock, Rikishi, and The Uso’s.)
THERE ARE SO MANY MORE THO.
But today, I want to talk about the Daddy of them all, Chris Benoit.
Chris Benoit’s crimes are so heinous and unforgivable Vince McMahon has swept his name under the rug and removed him from The Hall of Fame.
Benoit’s crimes also changed the dynamic of professional wrestling forever.
Chris Benoit was born in Montreal, Quebec to Michael and Margaret Benoit on May 21, 1967. He and his family resided in Edmonton, Alberta, however.
During Benoit’s childhood, he idolized Tom “Dynamite Kid” Billington (a British wrestler who competed in the 1980’s and had ongoing feuds with Hart) and Bret “Hitman” Hart (a Canadian-American wrestler and a member of the notorious Hart Family. He is a personal fave of mine as well).
When Benoit was 12 years old, he attended a local wrestling event where both Dynamite Kid and Hart were competing and he knew right then and there that he was destined to become a wrestler.
He trained in The Hart Family “dungeon” and was coached by none other than Stu Hart (Bret and Owen Hart’s father. If you don’t know Owen Hart, you should google him as well because he died under bizarre circumstances on live tv as well.)
When Benoit fought in the ring, he channeled both Dynamite Kid and Hart, even adopting Hart’s signature move, “Sharpshooter” as his finishing move.
Chris began wrestling in 1985 in Stu Hart’s Stampede Wrestling promotion. He was quickly recognized as a force to be reckoned with and received his first title, the Stampede British Commonwealth Mid-Heavyweight Championship, on March 18, 1988.
(This dude has a very extensive history or wrestling in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, World Champion Wrestling, Extreme Champion Wrestling, and World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment, but I just.. I cain’t get into all that, please forgive me. Haha! We are talking 22 years here! So I am humbly skipping to his family life.)
-Okay, so. I would love for this to be a romantic love story for the ages and the deaths resulted in crimes of passion, but that didn’t happen. At. All. Not at all.
You’ll see soon why this was all brushed under the rug.-
Benoit was married twice.
His first wife, Martina, and he had two children David (who is a wrestler as well) and Megan. By 1997, their marriage had broken down and Benoit and Martina decided it was best to end it.
Benoit began living with his girlfriend, Nancy Sullivan, who was the girlfriend of Benoit’s frequent opponent, Kevin Sullivan.
(It started off as an on-screen relationship for views and it led to a real-life affair. Many people joke that Kevin Sullivan booked his own divorce.)
On February 25, 2000, Benoit and Nancy’s son, Daniel, was born.
On November 23, 2000, Benoit and Nancy were married.
This 👏🏼 was 👏🏼 not 👏🏼 a 👏🏼 good 👏🏼 marriage.
In 2003, Nancy filed for divorce from Benoit, saying he would break and throw furniture and was cruel to her. She later dropped the suit as well as the restraining order she had set against him.
Benoit became good friends with fellow wrestler Eddie Guerrero, (a beloved and incredible wrestler, one of my dad’s faves), following a match in Japan, when Benoit kicked Guerrero in the head and knocked him out cold. This started a friendship that lasted even after Guerrero's death in late 2005, in which Benoit had written diary entries to him just ten days after his passing.
(I’m only mentioning this because Guerrero’s death has been rumored to be one of the reasons Benoit did what he did.)
Here’s where it gets gory.
So we know Benoit and Nancy did not have a good marriage, but things seemed to be okay because she dropped all the charges against him.
Benoit and Nancy were living in Fayetteville, GA, with 7 year old Daniel.
On June 25, 2007, police entered the Benoit home after Benoit’s WWE employers requested a welfare check after Benoit missed weekend events without notice.
(Benoit was actually scheduled to win another title during these weekend events.)
Upon arriving at his Georgia home, authorities found Nancy wrapped in a towel. She had died from asphyxiation.
Their son was also found, also dead, apparently strangled. Benoit placed a Bible next to each of their bodies.
Benoit’s body was the most disturbing to be found. The wrestler was hanged on a lat pulldown machine, with a Bible lying on the weight machine beside him. There were also allegedly 10 empty beer cans and an empty bottle of wine.
Autopsies concluded the murders and suicide took place over the course of three days.
On Friday, June 22, Chris Benoit killed his wife Nancy in an upstairs bedroom. Her limbs were bound, and her body was wrapped in a towel. A copy of the bible was left by her body. Injuries indicated that Benoit had pressed a knee into her back while pulling on a cord around her neck, causing strangulation. Officials said that there were no signs of immediate struggle. Toxicologists did find alcohol in her system, but they were unable to determine if she had been drinking prior to her death or if it was a product of decomposition.
Daniel was suffocated and killed in his bedroom, and a copy of the bible was left by his body. Daniel had internal injuries to the throat area, showing no bruises. Daniel's exact time of death is unknown. The reports determined Daniel was sedated with Xanax and likely unconscious when he was killed. Daniel's body had also just started to show signs of decomposition but was not as far along as his mother's body, so they were able to determine he was murdered after his mother.
(It was later alleged that Daniel had Fragile X syndrome, a genetic disorder that is characterized by mild to moderate intellectual disability. Physical features may include a long and narrow face, large ears, flexible fingers, and large testicles. About a third of those affected have features of autism such as problems with social interactions and delayed speech. Males are affected more than females. Daniel also had needle marks in his arm and it’s alleged that these were the result of growth hormones given to him because Benoit and his family considered him to be undersized.)
Chris Benoit committed suicide by hanging. Benoit used a weight machine cord to hang himself by creating a noose from the end of the cord on a pull-down machine from which the bar had been removed. Benoit released the weights, causing his strangulation. Benoit was found hanging from the pulley cable.
(On a podcast called The Talk is Jericho in 2016, Nancy’s sister Sandra Toffoloni divulged some more information. She said Benoit’s internet search history showed he had searched “the quickest and easiest way to break a neck”. Benoit had a towel wrapped around his neck when he committed suicide and his neck was broken instantly.)
A suicide note was not discovered, but a note written in one of the bibles Benoit had said, “I’m preparing to leave this Earth.”
A few possible motives I’ve seen people mention have included:
•CTE - Chronic traumatic encephalopathy is a neurodegenerative disease caused by repeated head injuries. Symptoms do not typically begin until years after the injuries and can include behavioral problems, mood problems, and problems with thinking. During his autopsy, it was concluded that Benoit did suffer from CTE after wrestling for so many years. (Back when they threw people from tops of cages, hit each other over the head with chairs and ladders, etc.) Autopsy experts say Benoit’s brain was so severely damaged that it resembled a 85 year old Alzheimer’s patient.
•Nancy’s abuse and filing for divorce - In February 2008, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Benoit was having an affair with a female WWE wrestler and Nancy found out. It was also speculated they argued over life insurance policies.
•Benoit’s alcohol abuse - Benoit abused steroids, but many people believe it was his alcohol abuse that led to these horrific murders. Many of Benoit’s colleagues attested he would drink more when problems with Nancy occurred.
•Eddie Guerrero’s death - Benoit and Guerrero and Benoit were very close. When it came out that Guerrero has died in his hotel room in November of 2005, Benoit was devastated. WWE held a televised memorial for Guerrero and when Benoit was giving his testimony, he broke down in front of the camera. Some of Benoit’s colleagues say, “he was never the same” after Guerrero’s death.
But at the expense of sounding completely heartless, (mind you, I’ve been suicidal myself), why didn’t he just commit suicide?
Why did he have to murder his wife and seven year old son? If we go with the CTE theory, it makes sense because he was not thinking rationally.
I wish Nancy had had the strength to leave him when she tried.
The night after Benoit’s body was found, WWE Raw had a televised memorial for him and his family with Vince McMahon standing in the middle of the ring breaking the news and a video montage.
No one knew he was the one who had killed his family.
When it was later revealed that Benoit had committed these crimes the episode was removed and WWE made the decision to remove nearly all mention of Benoit from their website, future publications, video games, merchandise, DVD/Blu-Rays, and future events.
Like I said.. swept him under the rug.
Benoit is now the “He Who Shall Not Be Named” of professional wrestling.
In ending this, I’d like to quote Stone Cold Steve Austin now.
“Well first and foremost, what I think about Chris Benoit is that guy was one of the most nicest guys I ever met in my life. He’s one of the most talented, hard working cats I’d ever seen in the squared circle. Anybody who knew Chris would tell you those exact two things. That guy loved the damn wrestling business, he was born to be a wrestler and was absolutely phenomenal. Drawing a lot of his influence from The Dynamite Kid, he blazed a path as the Pegasus Kid and his legacy as The Crippler Chris Benoit was just one hellacious career.
“One night, Chris ended up killing his wife and his kid. That is an act so terrible and horrible I can’t even comprehend or guess as to what happened in that house. That will always overshadow any accomplishment Chris had in the ring. He’ll never be in the Hall of Fame, it will just never happen. His career will speak for itself but his record as a human being, his first and foremost, and those actions will never be forgotten. That’s my feelings on that, we don’t even need to talk about the Hall of Fame. Speaking for myself, Chris Benoit as the person I knew, loved him. Chris Benoit as a wrestler, loved him. Chris Benoit as the person who did what he did, unforgivable. Bottom line.” – via NoDQ.com.
Pictured below are Chris and Nancy Benoit, their son Daniel, and their home in Fayetteville, Georgia.

This is long but it is important. Thanks for this!
#resist
This is where I stand. I feel that our 45th President, his Cabinet and administration, and the majority of Republicans in Congress are a real and active threat to me, my way of life, and all the people I love. Some people are saying that we should give Trump a chance, that we should "work together" with him because he won the election and he is "everyone's president." I am willing to do all of that if/when his policies seem reasonable. However:
•I will not forget how badly he and so many others treated former President Barack Obama for 8 years...
•I will not "work together" to privatize Medicare, cut Social Security and Medicaid.
•I will not "work together" to build a wall.
•I will not "work together" to persecute Muslims.
•I will not "work together" to shut out refugees from other countries.
•I will not "work together" to lower taxes on the 1% and increase taxes on the middle class and poor.
•I will not "work together" to help Trump use the Presidency to line his pockets and those of his family and cronies.
•I will not "work together" to weaken and demolish environmental protection.
•I will not "work together" to sell American lands, especially National Parks, to companies which then spoil those lands.
•I will not "work together" to enable the killing of whole species of animals just because they are predators or inconvenient for a few, or because some people want to get their thrills killing them.
•I will not "work together" to remove civil rights from anyone.
•I will not "work together" to alienate countries that have been our allies for as long as I have been alive.
•I will not "work together" to slash funding for public education.
•I will not "work together" to take basic assistance from people who are at the bottom of the socioeconomic ladder.
•I will not "work together" to get rid of common sense regulations on guns.
•I will not "work together" to mark transgendered men and women as something to fear.
•I will not "work together" to eliminate the minimum wage.
•I will not "work together" to support so-called "Right To Work" laws, or undermine, weaken or destroy Unions in any way.
•I will not "work together" to suppress scientific research, be it on climate change, fracking, or any other issue where a majority of scientists agree that Trump and his supporters are wrong on the facts.
•I will not "work together" to criminalize abortion or restrict health care for women.
•I will not "work together" to increase the number of nations that have nuclear weapons.
•I will not "work together" to put even more "big money" into politics.
•I will not "work together" to violate the Geneva Convention.
•I will not "work together" to give the Ku Klux Klan, the Nazi Party and white supremacists a seat at the table, or to normalize their hatred.
•I will not "work together" to deny health care to people who need it.
•I will not "work together" to deny medical coverage to people on the basis of a "pre-existing condition."
•I will not "work together" to increase voter suppression.
•I will not "work together" to normalize tyranny.
•I will not “work together” to eliminate or reduce ethical oversight at any level of government.
•I will not "work together" with anyone who is, or admires, tyrants and dictators.
•I will not support anyone that thinks its OK to put a pipeline to transport oil on Sacred Ground for Native Americans. And, it would run under the Missouri River, which provides drinking water for millions of people. An accident waiting to happen.
This is my line, and I am drawing it.
•I will stand for honesty, love, respect for all living beings.
•I will use my voice and my hands, to reach out to the uninformed, and to anyone who will LISTEN:
That "winning", "being great again", "rich" or even "beautiful" is nothing... When others are sacrificed to glorify its existence.
If you agree, feel free to copy and re-post (this results in larger numbers of people seeing a post than sharing...just press your finger down on your phone screen, hit "copy", go to your Facebook...comment by pressing your finger on your comment area and hit "paste"), and if you want, sign your name below ours.

Forbidden Fruit - Part 13
Summary: You’re Jared’s assistant for almost a year now. Hiding your feeling for your married boss you try to resist tasting the forbidden fruit.
Pairing: Jared Padalecki x Reader, OFC Chuck, Alexis Bledel
Warnings: angst, pregnant reader, fluff, threatening with a knife, attempted murder
Forbidden Fruit Masterlist
The next weeks you always look over your shoulder. Jared and Genevieve made an official statement about Alexis and her behavior back then but the cops still refuse to tell you and Jared if the messages were sent from her phone.
Your nervousness grows with every day. What if she doesn’t stop after blackmailing Jared? What if she wants to try something else? Maybe drug Jared or hurt him. You heard so many stories about stalkers and their victims you are afraid something could happen to the man you love.
“How about we go and visit Jensen and Danny?” Jared asks seeing your nervous state.
“We should stay at home.” You whisper.
“Baby, we won’t let that woman rule our life’s. We have a bodyguard, the cops are investigating our case and Jay lives not far away, Y/N. Let’s relax for one time. Jensen wants us to join his barbecue, I know you love his barbecue…” Jared tries, and you lick your lips.
“Okay. Let me change my clothes and we can drive to Jesen. Shall we call our bodyguard?”
“We drive to Jensen’s. There’s no need for Chuck. Jay offered we can sleep at his place if you don’t want to drive home that late at night. I want you to feel safe.”
“I’m just worried she could hurt you or anything, Jared. I mean stalkers are waiting for their chance to get hold of their victims. She’s obsessed with you, Baby.” You say placing your hand onto his heart.
“Alexis might be obsessed but I don’t think she would hurt me.”
“You never know, Jared.”
“Okay. How about we call Chuck? He can come to the barbecue too and we drive home with him.”
“Sounds good to me. I hope he didn’t have other plans.”
“He gave me a schedule on which days he has time to come around without making an appointment. Chuck is free for the next three days. You go and change clothes and I’ll call him on my way to the car.”
“No. Stay in the house, Jared.”
“Baby…fine. I’ll stay and call Chuck first, satisfied?”
Nodding you squeeze his hand as you look up at Jared. “I just want to be sure you are safe.”
“Same, Baby. We will make sure you, the babies and I are safe. Now change clothes or I will take a picture of your sexy outfit.” Jared chuckles looking at your ‘lazy Sunday’ sweatpants and an oversized shirt with Mickey Mouse on it.
“You love my outfit!” You mutter.
“I do love it, Baby.”
“No time for funny business, Padalecki. You will call Chuck and I’ll change into something…more presentable.”
----
Wearing your favorite dress you walk downstairs only to find Jared gone. He must’ve walked out of the house without waiting for Chuck.
Shaking your head, you open the front door, but Jared is nowhere to be found. Walking toward the garage you hear someone chuckle so you turn around to see Alexis standing behind you, a knife in her hand.
“Alexis? What do you want here?” You gasp glancing at the knife in her hand.
“For all these years I tried to get Jared back. I tried so hard but then he met Gen and married that bitch! Finally, I hear they are going to get divorced only to see him banging his assistant. His goddamn assistant, what a cliché! Not just that, he knocked you up!” Alexis spats and you take a step backward.
“Jared wanted the baby with you but you already aborted it. You ended the relationship. He was devasted and needed therapy because of you. You should know that – you stole his file after all. Let him move on. Do the same…”
“You don’t get it! Jared is mine, whore. He is mine and no one can have him. If he doesn’t leave you on free terms, I need to use force.” She chuckles now. Her eyes show pure hatred and you fear she will hurt you with the knife.
“Alexis…you don’t want to do this. Jared will never forgive you if you hurt me or his babies. He wants nothing more than these babies. You can always try to win him over but not if you hurt the babies.” You try as you walk backward once again.
“I can have his babies! We don’t need your bastards. I’ll give him all he needs. I’ll soothe the pain and grief of the loss of his babies and he will be mine.” Alexis chuckles.
“Please…” You gasp as she wields the knife in front of you.
Your back hits the brick walls as she gets closer to you. Ready to attack your bump she shrieks as the garage door opens.
Using her distraction you turn around to protect your baby bump but she doesn’t get the chance to attack you as two strong hands grab her wrists. She tries to wiggle and fight against Jared’s strength but she can’t compare with him.
“Y/N, call the cops.” Jared gasps as Chuck jumps out of the car to run toward you.
“Let me handle this,” Chuck says taking his handcuffs out to restraint Alexis. Screaming and kicking she tries to fight the tall man but he’s way too strong for her.
“Y/N, are you okay? Did she hurt you, baby? Are you hurt?” Jared asks as you sink to your knees. “Baby…can you hear me?”
“She didn’t…” You sob. Falling into Jared’s arms you start crying. “Jared, she wanted to kill our babies…our babies…”
“Shh…I swear I will kill her if they do not arrest her crazy ass.” Jared yells.
“But I love you, Jared, …please…” She whines.
“You do not love me! All you ever did was destroying everything good in my life. I talked to your family, you never were pregnant. You lied back then, Alexis. My whole life I hated myself for making you leave, for aborting our baby. I ruined my marriage with Gen, I hurt her. I betrayed Y/N, the woman I love to get her pregnant. I did horrible things only to fill the hole the loss of our baby caused.” Jared yells and you look up at him.
“There never was a baby?”
“After Genevieve told us about the blackmailing, I got suspicious and called Alexis family, friends and colleagues. She told me that there were complications and she had to stay in the hospital for two weeks…”
“Let me guess, Jared. She wasn’t at the hospital.” You whisper.
“Cause not, she was on vacation. While I tried to save our relationship, our baby she had an affair with Milo. Can you believe this…”
“I’m so sorry, Jared.”
“You shouldn’t be sorry. It’s her who should be sorry.”
----
Watching the cops leading Alexis toward the patrol car you smile when Jared moves his arms around you. His warm chest pressed against your back he softly kisses your hair.
“I know this is crazy but for the first time, I feel like I can leave my past behind,” Jared says.
“That’s good. Do you think they will arrest her?”
“The Detective confirmed it was her sending me the messages. This and the fact she broke into Nancy’s office would’ve been enough to arrest her but she also tried to attack you with a deadly weapon, a pregnant woman.”
“I was so scared.”
“I know, Baby. You turned around to save the babies.”
“I thought at least they will survive.” You whisper starting to cry once again.
“I’ll call Jensen and Danny. I think we shouldn’t go to the barbecue.” Jared chuckles.
“Are you trying to make me laugh?”
“Does it work?”
“No…”
“How about we have a hot shower and rest a bit? I’ll call Jay and tell him what happened. The Detective needs our statements tomorrow. Chuck will keep in touch with us. He has connections to the police station.”
“Okay.”
“When I saw her with the knife…” Jared chokes out.
“You saved me…” You whisper turning around in his embrace. “I knew you would come to save me, Jared.”
“I can’t lose you or my babies.” With trembling fingers, Jared gently strokes your cheek and you lean into his touch.
“You won’t lose me or the kids. I love you and I’ll never leave you. We are in this together…till the end…”

Oscars 2020 : Choix et prédictions
La 92e cérémonie des Oscars, sans animateur encore une fois cette année, aura lieu ce dimanche 9 février. Comme le veut la tradition, voici mes choix et mes prédictions dans chacune des catégories principales.
MEILLEUR FILM Ford v Ferrari The Irishman Jojo Rabbit Joker Little Women Marriage Story 1917 Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood Parasite
Quentin Tarantino, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood Martin Scorsese, The Irishman Bong Joon-ho, Parasite Todd Phillips, Joker Sam Mendes, 1917
MEILLEUR ACTEUR
Antonio Banderas, Pain and Glory Leonardo DiCaprio, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood Adam Driver, Marriage Story Joaquin Phoenix, Joker Jonathan Pryce, The Two Popes
Choix et prédiction : Joaquin Phoenix est probablement le meilleur acteur de sa génération, et avec The Master et You Were Never Really Here, sa performance dans Joker forme une troublante trilogie.
MEILLEURE ACTRICE
Cynthia Erivo, Harriet Scarlett Johansson, Marriage Story Saoirse Ronan, Little Women Charlize Theron, Bombshell Renee Zellweger, Judy
Choix : Scarlett Johansson, criante de vérité dans Marriage Story.
Prédiction : Renee Zellwegger dans Judy. C’est toujours payant d’incarner une personnalité réelle.
MEILLEUR ACTEUR DE SOUTIEN
Tom Hanks, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood Anthony Hopkins, The Two Popes Al Pacino, The Irishman Joe Pesci, The Irishman Brad Pitt, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood
Choix et prédiction : Brad Pitt, Movie Star avec des majuscules, incroyablement charismatique dans le film de Tarantino.
MEILLEURE ACTRICE DE SOUTIEN
Kathy Bates, Richard Jewell Laura Dern, Marriage Story Scarlett Johannson, Jojo Rabbit Florence Pugh, Little Women Margot Robbie, Bombshell
Choix et prédiction : Qui n’adore pas Laura Dern? Et ce sera peut-être la seule façon de récompenser cet excellent film qu’est Marriage Story.
MEILLEUR SCÉNARIO ORIGINAL
Knives Out, Rian Johnson Marriage Story, Noah Baumbach 1917, Sam Mendes and Krysty Wilson-Cairns Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Quentin Tarantino Parasite, Bong Joon-ho, Jin Won Han
MEILLEURE ADAPTATION
The Irishman, Steven Zaillian Jojo Rabbit, Taika Waititi Joker, Todd Phillips, Scott Silver Little Women, Greta Gerwig The Two Popes, Anthony McCarten
MEILLEURE DIRECTION PHOTO
The Irishman, Rodrigo Prieto Joker, Lawrence Sher The Lighthouse, Jarin Blaschke 1917, Roger Deakins Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Robert Richardson Choix : Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, un plaisir visuel de tous les instants.
Prédiction : 1917 pour le gros flex de Roger Deakins, comme dirait mon ami Yannick. Gagnant du prix de l’ASC.
MEILLEUR MONTAGE
Ford v Ferrari, Michael McCusker, Andrew Buckland The Irishman, Thelma Schoonmaker Jojo Rabbit, Tom Eagles Joker, Jeff Groth Parasite, Jinmo Yang
Choix : The Irishman, car Thelma Schoonmaker parvient à rendre un film de 3 h 30 toujours captivant, sans longueurs.
Prédiction : Parasite, car il a gagné le prix ACE Eddie.
MEILLEUR MONTAGE SONORE
Ford v Ferrari, Don Sylvester Joker, Alan Robert Murray 1917, Oliver Tarney, Rachel Tate Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Wylie Stateman Star Wars: The Rise of SkyWalker, Matthew Wood, David Acord
MEILLEUR MIX SONORE Ad Astra Ford v Ferrari Joker 1917 Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood Choix : Ford v Ferrari. Prédiction : 1917.
MEILLEURE DIRECTION ARTISTIQUE
The Irishman, Bob Shaw and Regina Graves Jojo Rabbit, Ra Vincent and Nora Sopkova 1917, Dennis Gassner and Lee Sandales Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Barbara Ling and Nancy Haigh Parasite, Lee Ha-Jun and Cho Won Woo, Han Ga Ram, and Cho Hee
Choix et prédiction : Je vais y aller pour la reconstitution d’époque, les décors de western, Spahn Ranch dans Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, mais 1917 pourrait rafler ce prix également. Parasite aussi serait plausible.
MEILLEURE MUSIQUE ORIGINALE
Joker, Hildur Guðnadóttir Little Women, Alexandre Desplat Marriage Story,Randy Newman 1917, Thomas Newman Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, John Williams
Choix et prédiction : Joker et le sinistre violoncelle de Hildur Guðnadóttir, qui contribue grandement à l’atmosphère du film.
MEILLEURE CHANSON ORIGINALE
I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away, Toy Story 4 I’m Gonna Love Me Again, Rocketman I’m Standing With You, Breakthrough Into the Unknown, Frozen 2 Stand Up, Harriet
Choix : Je n’ai pas encore vu Frozen 2, mais je suis obsédé par Into the Unknown telle que chantée par Idina Menzel.
Prédiction : Difficile de résister à remettre un prix à Elton John pour I’m Gonna Love Me Again!
MEILLEUR MAQUILLAGE ET MEILLEURE COIFFURE
Bombshell Joker Judy Maleficent: Mistress of Evil 1917
Choix et prédiction : Joker peut-être? Ou est-ce trop facile d’associer ce film au maquillage?
MEILLEURS COSTUMES
The Irishman, Sandy Powell, Christopher Peterson Jojo Rabbit, Mayes C. Rubeo Joker, Mark Bridges Little Women, Jacqueline Durran Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Arianne Phillips
Choix et prédiction : Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, car les films d’époque sont souvent récompensés pour leurs costumes, et le travail de la designer est particulièrement inspiré dans le film de Tarantino.
MEILLEURS EFFETS VISUELS
Avengers Endgame The Irishman 1917 The Lion King Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
Choix : Avengers Endgame, un quasi oublié des Oscars. On sous-estime l’exploit qu’est la culmination de l’Infinity Saga, notamment au niveau des effets visuels.
Prédiction : 1917. La prédiction facile pour la majorité des catégories.
MEILLEUR FILM INTERNATIONAL
Corpus Christi, Jan Komasa Honeyland, Tamara Kotevska, Ljubo Stefanov Les Misérables, Ladj Ly Douleur et gloire, Pedro Almodovar Parasite, Bong Joon Ho
Choix et prédiction : Parasite. La catégorie la plus facile à prédire de la soirée, avec raison. Un chef-d’œuvre, tout simplement.
MEILLEUR FILM D’ANIMATION
How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, Dean DeBlois J'ai perdu mon corps, Jeremy Clapin Klaus, Sergio Pablos Missing Link, Chris Butler Toy Story 4, Josh Cooley
Prédiction : Je n’en ai vu aucun. Je vais dire Toy Story 4. Comme ça.
MEILLEUR COURT MÉTRAGE D’ANIMATION
Dcera, Daria Kashcheeva Hair Love, Matthew A. Cherry Kitbull, Rosana Sullivan Memorable, Bruno Collet Sister, Siqi Song
Prédiction : Je n’en ai vu aucun. Je vais dire Hair Love. Comme ça.
MEILLEUR DOCUMENTAIRE
American Factory, Julia Rieichert, Steven Bognar The Cave, Feras Fayyad The Edge of Democracy, Petra Costa For Sama, Waad Al-Kateab, Edward Watts Honeyland, Tamara Kotevska, Ljubo Stefanov
Prédiction : Paraît que For Sama est exceptionnel.
MEILLEUR COURT MÉTRAGE DOCUMENTAIRE
In the Absence Learning to Skateboard in a Warzone, Carol Dysinger Life Overtakes Me, Kristine Samuelson, John Haptas St. Louis Superman Walk Run Cha-Cha, Laura Nix
Prédiction : Learning to Skateboard in a Warzone. Le titre m’intrigue.
MEILLEUR COURT MÉTRAGE
Brotherhood, Meryam Joobeur Nefta Football Club, Yves Piat The Neighbors’ Window, Marshall Curry Saria, Bryan Buckley Une soeur, Delphine Girard
