Fluttering her eyelashes as she blinks in disbelief and shock, Addison stares at the doorway. Her heart races as she tries to process what just happened. Not the way I expected that to go...
Shaking out of her racing thoughts, running wild through her anxious mind, Addy sighs before heading out of the homestead to meet with the rest of the recruits.
As she steps outside, the crisp morning air washes over her face, sending a shiver down her spine. The morning sun casts a golden glow over the lush greenery, illuminating the dew twinkling in the grass. Addy takes a deep breath, attempting to calm her nerves.
I can't believe her. Mitch scoffs as he trails behind Alex, replaying the reunion over and over again. Why the hell would she do that?
"Stop." Alex's voice causes Mitch to halt in his tracks; as he looks around, he realizes they're standing in a small clearing, encircled by towering pine trees.
"Wha—here?" Mitch questions, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Alex nods, confirming Mitch's question. Suddenly, a twig snaps behind them, causing both of them to turn their heads and spot several recruits walking in their direction.
Mitch's eyes darted to the right and hardened upon the sight of the only female approaching the group. However, as Addison strode over with confidence, Mitch's gaze softened slightly, scanning over her features and small frame as he took the time admire her beauty.
Addison had always been stunning, but Mitch was too preoccupied with impressing Katrina to notice what was right in front of him.
Katrina was the type of girl who always had a flock of admirers around her. She was smart, beautiful, and had a magnetic personality that drew people towards her. Mitch had been crushing on her for months, and he couldn't believe his luck when she finally agreed to go out with him.
However, Addison had been his best friend since childhood and had always been supportive of him. Mitch had never considered her in a romantic way, until a few days before Katrina agreed to go out with him. Of course he never got to act upon his feelings because of the events that followed that night, but he always thought she was beautiful.
Even as Mitch gazed at her from afar, he couldn't help but notice Addison's angelic beauty. Her long, luscious curls were meticulously pulled back into a sleek ponytail, accentuating her sharp facial features and high cheekbones. She was dressed in a snug grey tank top that hugged her curves and a pair of form-fitting leggings that complemented her toned legs. Mitch couldn't help but be mesmerized by her stunning blue eyes that seemed to sparkle.
From a distance, Mitch's gaze was fixed on Addison, and he couldn't help but be captivated by her ethereal beauty. Her long, voluminous curls were carefully tied back into a sleek ponytail, framing her sharp facial features and high cheekbones perfectly. She was dressed in a snug grey tank top that clung to her curves in all the right places, showcasing her toned physique, and a pair of form-fitting leggings that highlighted her athletic legs, giving her an alluring appeal.
Mitch couldn't help but be mesmerized by her stunning blue eyes that seemed to sparkle. He found himself lost in them for what felt like hours, unable to tear his gaze away from her captivating beauty. It was as if the rest of the world had faded away and nothing else existed except for the two of them. Mitch felt a warmth spread through his chest as he realized that he was falling for her all over again, but the betrayal twisted something in his heart and made him furious. He couldn't believe that she had lied to him. He had trusted her with his heart. Mitch took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down. He knew he needed to talk to her and get some answers, but he didn't want to right now. He was still angry.
Shit. Mitch cussed in his head. He couldn't help but appreciate how gracefully she had aged over the years, becoming even more captivating and mesmerizing since the last time he'd seen her. His heart seemed to flutter in his chest as she met his gaze from afar, awakening an old feeling.
Now, seeing her again after all these years, he couldn't help but wonder what could have been. Would they still have been best friends? Would him and Katrina have ended up together still? Or would it have been Addy on the beach instead of Katrina.
Snapping his dazed orbs over to a figure behind him, Mitch lifted his gaze up to Stan; handing over a knife, Stan laid the cold metal in the recruit's hands.
"Kill me." Stan ordered, watching as Mitch's gaze hardened.
Pressing her lips together as she folded her arms over her chest Addison watched as Mitch suddenly jumped forward, taking a jab at Stan. Quickly the ex-navy seal caught Mitch's hand and twisted his arm, causing Mitch to let out a pained groan as Stan then flipped him over. Landing on the dirt with a groan, Mitch growled as the cold metal of the blade pricked his neck.
"People think you can slice a man's throat like this," Stan spoke, glancing between the recruits circled around. "That's only in the movies."
Shoving the blade further onto Mitch's neck at the base of his throat, Stan whispered, "Right there." Placing his hand on top of the hilt of the knife, Hurley pushed down a bit harder as Mitch wriggled uncomfortably below him, resulting in Addy to hold her breath as Hurley glanced up.
"Do. No noise, no mess." Mitch's eyes fixated on the older man as he slowly lifted himself off. The new recruit's chest heaved with each breath as he tried to catch his breath, his heart pounding rapidly in his chest. Sighing before pushing himself up and off of the ground, Mitch let out an exasperated sigh as he caught Addy's mischievous expression, her tongue slowly darting over her lower lip in an attempt to suppress a grin.
Dusting the dirt off his arms as Stan tosses the knife to the dirt below, Mitch looks between the group as Hurley barks, "Victor, you're up."
Unfolding her arms as her gaze meets with her father's, Addy steps closer to the two as Victor bends down to grab the knife.
Not even a split second later, Victor jumps forward and attempts to stab at Mitch. Managing to dodge each attempt, Mitch shoots his hand out and catches Victor's before he can stab him. Using his upper body strength, Mitch hurls the man over his shoulder and slams him onto the ground.
Addy's eyebrows furrow as she watches the two, slightly amused. Didn't expect that...The girl thought to herself as she observed Mitch throw the knife to the side. Needles prick the girl's neck as her cheeks tinted a slight hue of red. Stop it. Addy scolds herself, unsuccessfully ripping her eyes away from Mitch's muscular and toned arms.
"What the fuck, man." Victor shot Mitch a glare as he pushed himself up. "Who grabs a fucking blade?"
Mitch shifted on his other foot as he flickered gaze between Victor and his ex-best friend, watching amused. As Mitch moved his tongue along the lower part of his lip, his deep brown eyes wandered towards the girl standing at a distance. Addison's intense stare caught his attention, making him pause for a moment.
A small smirk tugged on Addy's lips as Victor caught Mitch off-guard, landing a punch to the recruit's jaw. Groaning as he stumbled back, Mitch caught himself before he could hit the dirt. Feeling the anger bubbling inside his chest as Victor smiled and glanced over to Addison, Mitch quickly jumped forward and wrapped his hands around Victor's waist and slammed him to the ground below.
Addy pressed her lips together in amusement as she cocked her head to the side. Okay, that was kinda hot. She admitted to herself.
Climbing on top of Victor, Mitch raised his fist into the air and punched the man. Anger seemed to replace any other emotion he had as he repeatedly smacked Victor's face. Groans and grunts escaped the two as Victor got the upper hand and flipped them over, but unsuccessfully, Mitch squirmed out of his grasp and, once again, started to beat the other recruit repeatedly.
Addison's eyebrows knitted together as she watched the man she once knew be consumed by nothing but anger. Her heart sunk into her stomach as she realized that he must have gone through something traumatizing to end up this way.
If she was being honest with herself, it broke a part of her soul that she wasn't there for him. Maybe if she had been there, then he wouldn't be like this?
Finally managing to throw Mitch off, Victor mirrors his fellow recruit as the two circle each other. "Come on, you fucking pussy. Let's go!" Victor shouted as he grew angrier.
Lifting her gaze to meet Hurley's, Addy nods as she understands her father's silent exchange. The girl sighs to as she steps forward, swinging her leg back.
As if he doesn't already hate me.
Bringing her leg down, Addy uses all her strength and kicks Mitch's leg out from under him; causing Mitch to let out a groan of pain as he falls onto his back. Guilt creeps up in Addy's chest as Victor bends down over Mitch to land a punch to his jaw.
Thank you, Dad. Honestly. Addison scoffs, shaking her head as she rolls her eyes.
"You gotta have eyes in the back of your head."
Grunts and groans escape from the two as they continue fighting. Glancing back up to her father as she keeps her arms crossed over her chest, Addy sighs once more as she reaches behind her and grabs the cold metal resting in her waistband.
Anger boils inside of Mitch's chest as he attempts to push Victor off, but a sudden gunshot right above his head catches him off guard, causing him to lose his footing and slip as he yelps at the loud boom.
"You flinch, you die." Hurley declares as he circles the two fighting on the ground. "Orion is about the mission. It ain't about you."
Grunting as he finally manages to get the upper hand, Mitch pulls Victor into a headlock. Addison shifts onto the other foot as she watches Victor's face turn red, unsuccessfully attempting to escape from Mitch's tight grasp. Attempting to tap out, Victor desperately tries to suck in a breath, but Mitch doesn't let up.
"You go down out there, you're a ghost; you don't exist." Hurley continues his speech, "There's nobody, nobody coming back for you.
Finally easing up and letting the man breathe, Mitch spits the metallic taste out of his mouth as he rises to stand, quickly glancing over to Addy. Really? Mitch shoots her a glare, irritated she took part in the fight.
"You're about to be captured." Stan lowers his voice, reaching behind his back to pull his pistol out. Lifting the gun to his open mouth, Hurley places the barrel inside his mouth, causing Addison to roll her eyes at his dramatics.
The gun clicks as Mitch watches with his eyebrows furrowed. This guy is fucking insane.
"Bye-bye." Stan whispers as he turns to meet Addison's disapproving gaze.
He's such a drama queen. Addy rolls her eyes and shakes her head. Glancing to the side just in time to see Mitch wipe his chin and spit a mouth full of blood out, Addison grimaces as Mitch avoids the eyes burning into his skull.
"Everyone but Quinn, head back to the barracks." Hurley ordered, glancing between the group before they split.
Swallowing the lump in her throat as Mitch walked past, shooting her a glare, Addison waited as footsteps grew distant till she walked up to her father.
Sighing as his gaze softened upon settling his eyes on his daughter, Stan's waited a moment before speaking. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner." He whispered softly. "We didn't get to have our talk this morning."
Shaking her head as she couldn't seem to rip her gaze away from the dirt below, Addison scoffs as she fights back the tears burning in her eyes. "He hates me." Her voice cracked as she looked up to the sky, shaking her head.
"He doesn't hate you, Addy." Hurley pressed his lips together, watching his daughter with a heartbroken gaze. "It's my fault, if anything, but I had to keep you safe."
Addison sighed as she finally met her father's gaze, "I know, Dad. I can't thank you enough for being there. I don't know what I would've done. I understand why, but it still hurts knowing that I've destroyed a bit of myself and Mitch."
Mitch's eyebrows furrow as the hard bark of the tree presses into his back. Shock and disbelief etch their way across his dark features as he listens in on Addison and Stan's conversation.
Hurley is her dad? Wtf.
What the hell happened back when we were teenagers? Mitch wondered.
Furrowing his eyebrows as their conversation became inaudible, Mitch hesitantly peered behind the trees covering his position. As his eyes land on the two Hurleys, Mitch's gaze softens as he watches Stan pull his daughter into a hug.
Not only was he the new punching bag and victim, he was now also a target for Stan. Slowly piecing together the puzzle, Mitch starts to understand why Addison is here in the first place.

Kids! Breakfast!!
The pitter-patter of tiny feet and giggling laughter crowded the staircase, trying to get down first. A race that everyone would win easily because waffles and pancakes were on the table. It was Saturday morning and everyone was still in their favourite PJs. Your best friend's dad was leaving for work and his mom- She was some times sick but today she was doing okay. She was okay enough to play with you all. To give you all time and make you three laugh. And laugh you did. And it was just-
"We're here-" Hurley's gruff voice broke your soft memory, "Chin up. Stay alert. No clue what brown-nose kiss-ass they're gonna give us," He snarked
"Yes sir," You hummed and followed closely behind
The FBI HQ building looked like a prison, in your opinion. It was just so... square and blocky. Langely at least has some character. You made a face unknowingly. Stan cleared his throat and you cleared your expression to neutral again.
"I like working with NSA more," You said softly, "At least people meet us at the gate," That earned a small chuckle from him
"Yeah, well-" He shrugged, "It's what we got-"
A tall man waved at you both from afar as he made a half-assed effort to jog and walk towards you.

pre-hiatus and post-hiatus? nah. these are the real subtypes of Fall Out Boy fans
note: this has been designed to be at least somewhat comprehensible to non-fans and new fans
type 1: the regulars. these are the majority of FOB fans. whether they joined before, during, or after the late 2009 to early 2013 hiatus, whether they prefer the fandom nickname of Car-Crash Hearts, Overcast Kids, Youngbloods, or Fobbies, these are the fans that make up most of the fanbase. type 1s tend to like most of FOB's output, save for a few songs they're not that fond of. they probably follow the band's socials and maybe the band members' socials. overall, these are the FOB fans you're most likely to meet on the internet or irl. they can overlap with types 5 and 6, but are more on the down-low about it
type 2: the stans. these are the really obsessive fans. they insist that they like everything FOB has put out and have probably heard the various 2001 demos. they're the fans that make it their life mission to go to as many FOB shows as possible and get barricade each time. a few of them get downright creepy with their stalking. it was a type 2/6 overlap that had a hand in causing Patrick Stump to leave social media. understandably, most other fans are not fond of these. they tend to overlap with type 5, occasionally overlapping types 3 and 4 as well
type 3: the pre-hiatus gatekeepers(i know i said pre-hiatus ain’t a subtype, but this doesn’t refer to all pre-hiatus fans). usually, these fans joined the fandom between the band's formation in mid-2001 and the hiatus and are self-proclaimed “elder emos.” they put all of FOB's pre-hiatus work on a pedestal and degrade their post-hiatus work. they also tend to look down on anyone who joined the fandom after the hiatus. type 3s are the entitled elitists of the fandom. they tend to cross over with types 2 and 5 and occasionally 4. if they’re also a type 5, they're almost certainly horny for Pete Wentz. the one good thing about them is that the type 2 overlaps are the most likely to spread appreciation of Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley
type 4: the smol-beanifiers. these are the annoying asses who infantilize the everliving shit out of Patrick. they noticed his adorkableness and introversion and exaggerated those traits to hell and back, justifying themselves by pointing out his endearing nature. i mean, while he is quite the cutie, these people take it way too far. they're the ones who tend to call Patrick a "smol bean" and act as if his sweetness makes him completely innocent, most just flat-out ignoring that that man canonically fucks. those that don't ignore that that man fucks almost always overlap with type 5 and are probably Peterick-loving fujoshis. type 4s were everywhere on mid-2010s Tumblr and Wattpad, but are less common now. most of them matured into type 1s, but some only worsened into type 2s. either way, there’s an all but 0% chance that they don’t overlap with type 6
type 5: the simps. these are the fans that are down bad for at least one of the boys- some might say they're down colossal. type 5s can overlap with any other type and are the most likely to have an AO3 account. there's really not much else to say about these lil degenerates
type 6: the Patrick lovers. yes, there's enough of these to get their own type. these fuckers- who can overlap with any other type- absolutely love Patrick. they are the #1 Soul Punk and Truant Wave defenders. notably, a decent chunk of the type 6s on the Fall Out Boy sides of Twitter and Tumblr("fobtwt" and “foblr”) are transmascs who project themselves onto him, relating to his insecurity about his body, the resulting fondness for wearing layers, and him being a measly 5'4". these features have also led a lot of generally insecure fans to attach themselves to him. there's also a lot of neurodivergent type 6s, as Patrick himself has ADHD. he also has asthma, which has led many fans to be even more in awe of his belting ability. a lot of them are also unspeakably horny for this man, seeing him as a certified DILF. i am admittedly one of these people
EDIT: i didn’t mention the type 6 lesbians because i figured that was just a given

Undercover Darlings || Mitch Rapp x Reader
Summary: It's Valentines day, and you and Mitch are playing fake lovers. Words: 1.9k Warnings: swearing, cuteness, mitch being sassy to stan Notes: guys no this didn't turn out how i wanted?? I'm so sorry!
"Put your arm around me." Words were pushed through gritted teeth as you tried to portray a smile of realism, one of joyousness and devotion to the overly familiar man sitting beside you. You could feel his chest rise and fall with a murmur before he released a small sigh - irritation was imminent, but what you couldn't see was the ghost of a smile lifting at his lips. Paris was beautiful this time of year - on the cusp of falling snow, but still clear enough to enjoy the elegance of such a romantic city. The architecture stood sharp as you peered around the vast space before you, eyes gazing over couples as they celebrated a holiday made purely for love. It created a warmth within you, only complemented by the additional weight thrown over your shoulders and the small tug of your body against the firmness of another's chest. A smirk found its way among the contouring of your facial features - amusement etching into the corners of your eyes and the scrunch of your nose. You could feel the muscles of the arm tense, and you knew that you had him where you wanted him. Your partner was never one to show emotion with ease if it didn't consist of anger or irritability, nor were you one to often show roguery or mischievousness. But Mitch Rapp, the big bad Assassin, brought that side out of you so damn easily. It was an enigma just how he managed to do so, but by now it was comfortable more than anything. A small twist of your head allowed lips to press to the man's scruffed cheek, his beard beginning to grow back through despite your protests - it only made his want for it to grow even faster. You could feel a deep breath as it filled his lungs, his heart hammering against the curve of your shoulder blade. A tone of sweetness fell so easily from your lips, "Thanks, sweetie." Mitch's arm squeezed your body, a warning more than a simple acknowledgment. He groaned quietly against the shell of your ear, "Don't push it."
To an estranged eye, the two of you would seem like a couple enjoying the presence of one another; soaking in the strong emotion of love as it filled the Parisian air, without a worry or care. However, that timeline of events was far from what led you both to this specific bench, in this specific park, watching a specific person as they dawdled at the base of France's tallest landmark. Your target was a man with a deep history of 'pissing off the wrong people', as Stan Hurley would put it so elegantly.
The man wasn't hard to miss; his stance tall and build hefty, eyes teetering on the edge of blackened hues, his behaviour shifty despite the experience that weighed so heavily behind him. He ran a weapons trade that spanned the distance of Europe and his focus was secured now upon the rest of the world. Which simply, cannot happen. Not when the Central Intelligence Agency had two of its most adaptable agents ready to stop him.
You had worked alongside Mitch for what seemed like forever when it was nearing almost five years. He objected to it at first, but you held persistence and dedication that your handler couldn't pass up, especially when it came down to taming the beast. It was quicker than expected when you both fell into a routine and soon enough, the quirks and characteristics that made you both so incredibly different were the structure of your unique relationship.
Without declaration, he would burn the world to keep you warm.
"Where is he going?" Mitch's voice hissed, your concentrated daze breaking before looking toward your target. He was meant to be meeting with somebody, however, it wasn't in the cards for his early departure. Your partner cursed as he stood up and your body went with him, a shadow to his lead. Mitch's arm fell from you before his fingers slid nonchalantly with your own; both a wordless protection and tenacity to keep your cover from being blown. Mitch rolled his lips before moving forward, "C'mon, we're gonna lose him."
You couldn't help the furrowed brows of annoyance as static buzzed in your ear, a baffled Stan Hurley blasting question after question in such an incoherence as Mitch led you through the bustling crowds. You side-eyed your partner as he gave you a reciprocated expression before his honey-coloured eyes rolled in an atypical fashion. "He's on the move.", You spoke quietly, hoping that the projection of your voice was enough to be recognised among the numerous conversations you were surrounded by.
"Well, you better fucking catch up to him!" Your handler replied, and Mitch rolled his eyes once more.
"No shit." Your partner's reply with hasty and simple, causing the utmost satisfaction for you both as he was reprimanded briefly afterwards by the voice in your ears.
The man led you both toward a Valentines market; the populated street covered in red from head to toe, acoustic tunes exuding romance playing from street performers, and couples shining their brightest heart eyes at one another. It was the perfect place to get lost in, and in the moment you hoped for dear life that your target didn't know that he was in fact, a target.
Mitch held your hand tighter before tugging you against his side; the familiar weight of his arm now slung back over your shoulders. You blended in perfectly, a flawless seam among the budding bustle of festivalgoers. The proximity bordered on 'too natural' and you wondered if Mitch felt even the slightest complacency as you did at this opportune moment. It was a simple question of 'what if' - in an alternative world where you both weren't government-employed assassins, would your lives be easy and intertwined by fate, where maybe the two of you could live a happily ever aft-
"Rose for the madam?" The thick accent made you jolt, the silly thoughts intruding your mind now gone as Mitch brought you both to a stop. You looked toward a small French man, a stand of explosive colours serving as a beautiful backdrop behind him. Flowers of all sorts were gathered into small bouquets, but the one that stood out most to you was the perfect red petals of a single rose as it was positioned for Mitch's attention.
You were anticipating a refusal, at least a polite decline, with your partner usually one to skip the antics and keep his eyes on the prize. Which is why it took you by surprise when he handed over a few euros, taking the delicate flower in exchange. You didn't often see him smile but the genuine grin that followed and the kindness in his eyes was more than enough to make your heart thump, thump, thump.
Mitch's brow rose as he looked down at your expression of puzzlement, a chuckle of the utmost quietness falling from his lips as he held the rose toward you, "What? It's Valentine's day."
"You just continue to surprise me, is all." You replied, accepting the gift. Your shoulders rose nonchalantly before you peered not too far ahead at your target as he typed away ferociously at his phone. He was quick to move again, and it was your feet now that led the two of you after his further retreat.
Mitch scoffed, his spare hand scratching at his scruffed cheek; a nervous habit you managed to notice easily but kept as a secret for you and only you to know. He cleared his throat, "I'm just tryn' to keep up our cover. We're meant to be in love, remember?"
"I think you're just going soft on me, Rapp."
You heard a grumble in reply and it made you smirk, his voice hiding as it fell gently into the collar of his jacket, "Whatever."
Navigating through the crowds was becoming more difficult, regardless of the tight grip Mitch had on your hand. You weren't sure whether it was to keep you close so you wouldn't get lost, or as a means to make you both move faster, but he wasn't planning on letting go anytime soon.
A familiar crack of static buzzed in your earpiece as the line opened, and you were greeted once more by your handler's voice with further direction. "We're close to your location, he's gonna run outta road soon so wherever this fucker is going, it can't be too far away. Stay vigilant, don't blow your cover."
You and Mitch replied with brief acknowledgment, your surroundings shifting to a smaller space down a city backstreet. Your mission had taken a turn the moment you left the gardens of the Eifel Tower, but you needed to make the best of a bad situation. No matter how frustrating it may be - and if it meant following a dangerous firearm trafficker through the heart of a love festival, then so be it.
The further he went, the less people there were to get in your way. It was a bittersweet concoction of keeping your eyes on him more clearly, versus his prevalent possibility of catching you out. Your target's paranoia was bubbling to the surface as his gaze flickered between the incoming messages on his phone and his surroundings. He was on edge, waiting with anticipation, searching for something. It was as if he could read your mind as he peered over his shoulder with the sceptical feeling that he was being watched.
Mitch swore as he pulled you to the side, avoiding the other man's eyes for a mere moment as he hissed toward you, "Kiss me. Now. Quick."
"What -"
"Kiss me."
You looked at him in confusion and it made your partner's eyes roll before his hands cupped your cheeks. They were splayed over your skin, warm and surprisingly soft, the perfect cradle for when he pressed his lips so carefully against yours. Mitch didn't want to scare you - knowing damn well that you would either kiss him back or sock him for his advances. Luckily, you found comfort in his taste and touch, and it took nothing more for you to melt into his tenderness.
Kissing Mitch wasn't on your cards for today, and you never would've thought that you'd be standing with your arms dangling around his neck, his fingers pressing gently against your jaw as his lips slid and licked with your own. For someone who was losing his patience earlier in the day, Mitch was taking all the time in the world to have you in his grasp. Holding you carefully. Cherishing your lips.
"Have you still got eyes on him?" Stan's voice sounded muffled as you poured every ounce of attention into Mitch. It was white noise, along with the music flowing from the local bands and the chatter of citizens moving around you. "Rapp, Y/L/N. Have you got eyes on the goddamn target?!"
Mitch jumped back slightly - lips still pursed, eyes fluttering as if he was waking up from a dream. He had never looked so at ease, until Stan's words finally caught up to him and his attention shifted to where the target was once standing. Where he was, no more.
Your eyes widened, locking with the honey brown of the man beside you. It was in unison when you both groaned, realization hitting that you did in fact, not, have your sight on the target.
"Fuck."

thoughts on s2 of LOST:
first off, this is just excellent television !
those last few episodes had me on the edge of my seat.
why am I so into the ana lucia & jack pairing? they just *work* for me and I wish we'd have gotten to see more of them together.
ana lucia really bugged me in the beginning, but more so because of the acting. she just felt intense in every single moment without nuance. I just needed her to stop and breathe for a moment, and she did, and I love her for it! wish she was around a bit longer.
and the tailies had it so, so rough. the losties were basically in paradise compared to them. no wonder ana lucia was so on edge.
the jack/kate/sawyer love triangle could've been worse, but I like all three of them for the most part so it's not super frustrating and i'm not torn between teams/pro one pairing and anti the other. I also find it much juicier if I think of jack as the apex and not kate. like, jack's obsessed with them, and they're obsessed with Jack and they're all obsessed with each other, and it works???
rousseau, come back . . .
and alex . . . i'm never gonna think tania raymonde isn't gorgeous. ever since I saw her on that one s1 episode of that's so raven with her cute telekinetic weirdo vibes, I've been in awe every time I've seen her.
charlie & claire . . . what are we doing? as characters, they're just not doing it for me, though at least charlie's allowed to have fun dynamics with other characters. i'm gonna need claire to be more involved, like in her flashback episode with ethan where she was with on a mission with kate & rousseau.
saw a reddit comment that said mr eko was more john locke than john himself was (at the moment, at least) and fair.
interesting things happen when desmond's onscreen.
michael . . . disappears for 5+ episodes for that to happen . . . felt the fear, but not the guilt. and the guilt would mean some form of remorse. but that doesn't seem to be all there.
hurley was cool, i guess. and libby's cute.
jin + sun = smiley face from me.
rose & bernard were somehow cuter when they were apart.
ms klugh: "for someoone who wants their child back so badly, you don't seem to know much about him" how could I not stan? she got him so good, damn. had me shook and everything.
"henry" was played so well and i'm very, very intrigued.
sayid's likely to have 75% of the brain cells at all given times.
oh, shannon, bestie . . . #neverforget
what is the dharma initiative exactly and what do they do?? who are the others, and what are they doing???
won't lie, i was bored of some of the flashbacks. but when they're good, the episode is so rich with interesting character work.
that's all !

Saudade; Chapter Three
Summary: The new recruit arrives and the Hurleys forget to have an important conversation.
Warnings:cussing, violence, hostile reunions?
Word Count:3,104k
➭ Previous Chapter ➭ Series Masterlist
Fluttering her tired eyes open, Addy groans as she reaches her hands out and pushes her aching body to sit up. Groaning at the aches and pains searing through her body, she slowly moves her feet off to the side of the bed. It seemed like every muscle protested as she attempted to sit up in bed. Not wanting to deal with her father waking her up earlier than the rest of the recruits, Addy swiftly picks up her neatly folded clothes and goes to the bathroom to change.
After changing into her regular morning workout clothes, consisting of a grey tank top, black leggings, and her favorite pair of sneakers, Addy quickly walks back over to her bed and unplugs the long cord attached to her iPod. Briskly, walking back over to the lockers, she quietly opens the metal door and grabs her earphones.
Quickly slipping out of the room, Addison slides in each earphone before selecting her favorite playlist and slipping her iPod into the waistband of her leggings. Glancing up from the dim lighting, illuminated by nothing but the morning sun, Addy takes a deep breath before kicking her feet into a jog.
Waking up earlier than the rest of the recruits became her norm. She wanted to escape her father waking her in some obscure way. Whether it was shooting a gun, scaring the living hell out of them, or banging on the door as loudly as he possibly could, Addy couldn't stand it. It put her in a bad mood. So she decided to take the matter into her own hands and do her own thing, whether or not her father liked it.
"You can take the blindfold off." said Irene, her voice piercing through the silence in the car, drowning out the faint sound of the tires rolling against the pavement.
Mitch let out a heavy sigh as he pulled the black cloth away from his eyes, the fabric rubbing against his skin. Wincing in discomfort as the bright light from the sun filtered through the surrounding trees, Mitch squinted as he attempted to adjust to the sudden change in lighting.
As soon as Mitch's eyes adjusted to the sudden burst of light, he couldn't help but be struck in awe by the view of the countless trees that were standing tall and proud on both sides of the vehicle. His mouth fell open, and his eyes widened as he took in the sight, feeling a sense of rare tranquility and serenity wash over him, seemingly blocking out reality.
Over the course of the past year, his mind had become consumed with a singular, all-consuming desire: revenge. So much so that he found himself incapable of appreciating the dark and eerie beauty of the world around him. Every waking moment was spent plotting and scheming as he obsessed over what happened to Katrina.
All he could think about was avenging her, making the people who took his fiance's life away pay.
As Mitch briefly tore his gaze away from the view outside the window, he caught Irene's warm smile as she turned back around to face the road.
"So, what do I need to know about this guy?" Mitch interrupted the silence.
"Stan Hurley? He's a warrior. Ex-Navy seal. My Daddy served with him in the Persian Gulf." Irene answered softly, scanning her eyes around the thick greenery flying past them.
Mitch pressed his lips together as he flickered his gaze around before asking, "Did you go through this program?"
"I went through a program. Not this one," Irene answered, "It's not like becoming a spy or Special Ops, none of those things."
"Good." Mitch hummed, ripping his gaze away from the woman in the front seat.
Slamming the laptop down as he checks his watch lying on his left wrist, Stan sighs as he looks out of the window, noticing the black sedan pulling up to his small cabin. "Damn it, Addy." The older Hurley cusses, irritated that he and his daughter forgot to have a discussion over the new recruit.
Taking his cup of coffee with him, Stan swings the door open and shuts it behind him. Bringing up the cup of caffeine, he takes a sip and watches Irene step out of the vehicle and shut the door behind her.
"I thought you were supposed to be on the patch." The woman raised her eyebrow as she nodded to the smoke coming from the man's lips.
Stan only rolled his eyes and sighed at the woman, slowly making his way down the steps.
"You saw those tests?" Irene asked, watching his every move as he cautiously descended the staircase, carefully placing his foot on the second to last step.
"Yeah, I saw them." Stan replied unimpressed.
"He's off the charts." Irene smiled
"I've seen off the charts before." Hurley replied, leaning his body against the rail of the wooden staircase.
"—and he's got none of the bad habits he'd have to unlearn if he had military training."
"Unlearn?" Stan cocked his head to the side, seemingly still unimpressed.
"Come on, Stan. You drop one of your navy seals in an urban setting; you can spot the boot camp on them from a mile away. We're not fighting the-"
"Cold War." Stan interrupts, blowing the smoke out of his mouth. "Yeah, I know. You keep telling me that, Miss Deputy Director."
"Oh." Irene scoffs, "Wow. 'Miss Deputy Director?'"
"Your Daddy would agree with me."
Irene pressed her lips together and nodded, slightly irritated. "I'll be checking in with you every 48 hours." The woman turned on her heels and headed back to the sedan. "I'm on a plane to London in the morning." Irene informed him. Turning back around to face Hurley, Irene nodded to his hand, holding the cigarette. "And go back on the patch for god-sake."
Rolling his eyes as he shook his head, Stan watches as Irene climbs back into the vehicle. Turning his gaze to something moving in his peripheral, Stan's eyes widened slightly as he noticed his daughter walking up with an eyebrow raised.
"Shit." the older Hurley cussed.
"Stan." Addy greets as she reaches for her earphones and takes the right one out. "New recruit?" The girl questions, raising an eyebrow as Irene turns from the backseat to face the front, sending the brunette a warm smile and a wave.
"Yeah." Stan coughs, his attention drawn to Addison walking toward him cluelessly. As she strides towards him, her damp hair clings to her forehead, and she wipes away beads of sweat glistening on her face. "Can you make me a new cup of coffee real quick?" Hurley asks, attempting to hurry and get her away from the new recruit hidden on the other side of the vehicle, slamming his door shut.
Scrunching her face in confusion as the sweat drips from her forehead, Addy nods and sends her father an odd look. "On it." The girl smiles as she quickly walks past the old man, who seems slightly—nervous? He's never nervous. Why is he acting like this?
Climbing the steps, her thighs burning from her morning workout, Addy glances back to the vehicle briefly. As she climbs up the wooden porch, her eyebrows furrow in wonder. Lost in her thoughts, she fails to notice the uneven wooden boards that protrude from the surface. Suddenly, her foot catches on one of the raised planks, causing her to stumble forward, but she quickly regains her balance and continues on her way.
So much for an assassin, Adds. The girl rolls her eyes and swings the door open.
Gravel crunches beneath the tires of the sedan, now pulling out of the driveway, leaving the new recruit to watch the vehicle head off before turning his gaze to the cabin, noticing a young woman closing the door behind her at the entrance. Shifting his gaze back to the vehicle, Mitch watches as the sedan drives off.
"She ain't coming back." Hurley breaks through the silence, twirling the cigarette between his fingers as he watches the recruit shift his attention back onto him.
"Hey. Eyes front and center."
"Make me another cup of coffee." Addy mocks her father's words as she lifts the pot of coffee up, pouring it into the mug.
Pressing her lips together as her blue eyes watch as the liquid fills the mug, she glances out the window in front of her and notices Stan intimidating the new recruit.
With a furrowed brow and a slight tilt of her head, Addy strains her eyes and leans forward, attempting to look past her father's broad frame. Frustrated by her inability to catch even a brief glimpse of the person in question, all she can make out is a mop of messy brown hair and a bland, grey-striped jacket.
Please be hot.
Entirely lost in thought, Addy completely forgets about the piping hot coffee she was holding in her hands.
Suddenly, a scorching hot liquid spills over her fingers, causing a sharp yelp to escape from her lips. Instinctively recoiling her hand upon the burning sensation, the mug slips out of her grasp and shatters into countless pieces on the ground.
"Shit." The girl cusses, flinching and quickly bending down to clean up the mess.
"We got an empty cot, empty footlocker. They're both yours as long as you can last." Hurley glares at the new recruit before a sudden loud thump followed by a sharp yelp interrupts their conversation, causing the both of the two men to turn their heads toward the sound.
Hurley's gaze softens as he glances back towards the cabin, barely catching a glimpse of his daughter bending down to pick up whatever had fallen. "Good grief, Quinn." Stan rolled his eyes at his daughter's clumsiness, ignoring the way Mitch's eyebrows furrowed as he tried to see who the mysterious woman was.
There's a girl here? Mitch tilted his head to the side, attempting to catch a glimpse.
"Follow me." A deep voice cut through the silence, causing Mitch to turn his head swiftly. To his surprise, he noticed a tall, broad-shouldered man standing nearby, nodding towards him, urging him to follow.
Mitch's nodded as he shifted his eyes back and forth, alternating between the two men standing before him and the cabin. Following behind the guy, Mitch pressed his lips together in a small smile towards the old man. "See you out there. Heard a lot about you, by the way. Excited to see what you've got."
Stan let out a heavy sigh as he observed the new recruit walking closely behind Alex, studying his every move. After a second, he turned around and slowly walked up the stairs toward the cabin.
As Addy finishes cleaning up the mess and stands up, already feeling exhausted and drained, she glances out of the window. Her heart dropped into her stomach as her gaze locked onto a pair of eyes that she thought she would never see again.
Mitch?
Addy's heart skips a beat as she and the new recruit share a stunned gaze, their eyes widening with surprise and disbelief.
No...It can't be. Addy thought to herself as something inside her gut twisted.
He didn't look like the boy she had left behind. This Mitch was an older, muscular, and more intimidating version of him. With a rugged face and piercing gaze that seemed to cut through her like a knife. At first, his eyes revealed shock and disbelief, but then it was quickly replaced by something more intense and unsettling. His gaze turned colder and angrier as if a sudden realization had snapped a taut wire within him.
Attempting to shake off the fear that creeps up inside of her, Addy can't help but wonder why he would be here of all places. What could have happened?
It couldn't possibly be her Mitch, whom she thought would be happily married to Katrina and probably had kids by now. It couldn't be him. Was it her imagination playing tricks on her, or was it a hallucination brought about by the lack of sleep she had been experiencing?
"No.." Addy shakes her head slowly, ripping her gaze away from the recruit's burning glare. "There's no way that would-"
Suddenly, Hurley's voice jolts her out of her thoughts, making her realize that she hasn't even noticed the door to the cabin being opened. "We need to talk." Stan says, watching as Addison slowly sets the broken pieces of the mug down onto the counter.
"Not right now." Addy shakes her head and quickly turns to rush out of the room but is stopped by her father catching her arm.
Her heart beats erratically out of her chest as she snaps her gaze up to Hurley. "This isn't how I wanted you to find out." Stan whispered, his gaze softening as he saw the tears starting to well up in his daughter's eyes.
Shaking her head as she held back the burning sensation threatening to spill from her shocked gaze, Addy ripped her arm out of her father's grasp and rushed out of the cabin.
Blinking in disbelief as he followed behind one of the other recruits, Mitch's body trembled with frustration and anger, his mind racing with a thousand thoughts all at once.
Was this some kind of sick joke? Why would a woman who looked exactly like his childhood best friend be here?
She died seven years ago.
He saw the paramedics rolling her body out of her house. Mitch went to her funeral. He mourned her. The only reason he pulled himself together was because of Katrina.
Anger seemed to replace any other emotions he had. He could feel the heat arising from his body as his breathing became more and more erratic. He tried to calm himself down, but the rage seemed to consume him entirely.
There wasn't any possibility that she could be alive. Or could she?
Shaking out of his thoughts as Alex swings the door open, Mitch glances back towards the cabin and walks inside.
Feeling the question burning, begging to be asked, Mitch turned to the other man. "Who was that woman in the cabin?"
Alex's eyebrows scrunched as she turned to meet Mitch's blank expression. "Who? Quinn?" The man shook his head as he scanned over Mitch's tense stance. "I don't know much about her. Other than the fact that she's been here for 6-7 years. She keeps to herself and doesn't really talk to the rest of us that much."
Alex shrugged as he pointed to a locker, changing the subject. "That's yours. Put your stuff away and meet by the cabin in 15 minutes." The man nodded toward the locker before heading back out of the homestead, leaving Mitch to shove his bag into the small metal cubby. Spinning around to a small sound coming from the door, Mitch's eyebrows knit together before he shut the metal door.
"Okay, I'll just walk in the room and act like I don't see him." Addison whispered to herself, trying to figure out a way to approach the situation. "I don't look the same, right? He can't possibly know it's me."
Quietly and quickly walking towards the homestead, Addy pauses for a second, watching Alex leave the room. You can do this, Addy. He won't be that angry...right?
Softly placing her shaking hand up to the door, Addy pushes it open. Ignoring the nervous jitters wracking her body, she closes the door behind her and enters the room.
Scanning her nervous gaze around the numerous cots, her eyebrows furrow as she notes the empty room. He was just here. Where the hell could he have-
Suddenly, a pair of hands grip her shoulders tightly, roughly attempting to spin her around, but as soon as Addy spins around, she lifts her knee and collides it into the man's groin. A groan of pain escapes his lips as Addison attempts to further her attack. Rearing her fist back to land a punch, the guy suddenly catches her fist and spins her around till her back hits the wall behind her.
A gasp leaves the girl's lips as the man pins her against the wall with her clenched fist right beside her face. Ripping her gaze from her hand to her attacker, Addison's breath hitches. Dark, angry brown orbs met her own fierce gaze.
"Mit-"
"Who the hell are you?" Mitch's face turned beet red as he yelled, his veins bulging out of his neck. "Huh?" He continued, his anger boiling upon seeing the woman up close.
Feeling her own anger starting to rise within, Addison reared her head back and slammed it into his, making the man stumble back and lose his grip. "Well, if you would like me to explain—"
Suddenly, Addy flinched as Mitch regained his stance. Lifting his gaze back up to the woman, his features softened as he noticed the small vein poking out on her forehead. The same vein that used to poke out of his best friend's forehead when she was stressed about something. It is her.
"Mitch." Addy sucked in a breath, "It's me, okay. It's Addy. Just calm down, okay?"
"Calm down?" Mitch narrowed his eyes, keeping his piercing gaze fixed on the girl in disbelief.
"You died! I watched them wheel your body out of your house! I went to your funeral. How is this even possi-" Mitch paused as the gears in his head turned. "Did you fake your own death?!"
Addy swallowed. She felt her throat constricting as the guilt from seven years ago caught up with her. "I didn't have a choice."
Mitch blinked in disbelief, shaking his head. "You didn't have a choice?" he cocked his head to the side, taking a step closer. "You really think I'm going to believe anything you say, now? After what you did. You left me. You made me believe that you were dead! You were supposed to be the ONE person that would never leave me."
"I'm sorry." Addy shook her head, feeling the tears burn their way to her eyes. "Just let me explain—"
"No." Mitch shook his head, "You don't get to do that." he scolded, stepping closer to the woman till he was inches away from her. "Stay away from me. I mean it. I'm here for one thing and one thing only."
Stepping away from the girl, Mitch sent her one last glare before swiftly turning around and heading out of the room, leaving Addy to stand in place, shocked.

CHARACTERS: mitch rapp x reader WORD COUNT: 814 WARNINGS: mitch being jealous... that's about it, lol
~~~
date night was something that was a rarity for you and mitch. because of his work, you two hardly ever had time to just yourselves. sure, there were nights where you two spent wrapped up in the sheets and each other, but most of the time, all the two of you did when he came home was say your greetings, eat dinner in silence before he took his shower while you put away the folded laundry from earlier in the day, maybe a round of sex before falling asleep.
tonight, however, was different. mitch was the one who initiated the two of you going out for dinner, to which you happily agreed. It wasn’t anything fancy, but it was nice. the two of you were dressed in your nicest clothes at a fairly decent restaurant in town.
the two of you were sat by the host, looking over your menus when the waiter came over to your table.
“what can i get you two to drink?” he asked. the waiter looked at you, quickly, before doing a double take. “y/n?”
you looked up at him, saying, “yeah?” before recognition hit you. “oh, my god. trevor?” you stood to give him a friendly hug. pulling back but keeping your hands on his shoulders, you smiled and asked, “how have you been? It’s been, what?, 5 years?”
his hand had landed on your elbows to keep you in place. “yeah, it’s been about that long, and i’ve been doing alright. still working here,” he said, chuckling at the end.
you could sense mitch’s eyes on you, so you looked at him, your smile still on your face. “mitch, this is trevor. He was my best friend in high school. i worked here with him during college.” looking back at trevor, you said, “trevor, this is mitch, my boyfriend.”
trevor looked at mitch like he wanted to kill him about 5 different ways. “How’d you two meet, y/n/n?”
“through work,” you explained. you couldn’t exactly explain what it was that you did for work since you and mitch both worked for the cia. when you had left the restaurant biz, you worked reception, but when it was seized by the cia because of the head honcho of the company you worked for, the cia asked if you wanted to come and be their receptionist.
you said yes at the time and not two weeks after your first day, you met mitch. he had come in hotheaded from a mission, he and stan hurley arguing about him taking off and doing whatever he felt like, which ultimately got him in trouble, but the mission was completed. the mission? the ghost mission.
they had both stopped at your desk, stan kindly asking if there were any messages awaiting him, to which you said yes and handed him what he asked for. mitch was leaned on the desk, looking at you expectantly like you were supposed to know who everyone was. before you could answer, irene kennedy came up to your side, looking through your papers for whatever the hell it was that mitch wanted.
a week after that, he actually said a couple words to you, your face heating up at the sound of his soft voice as he asked you to dinner with him, you not knowing that it was part a mission he was doing in new york to bring down a mafia king. that was five years ago, and you and mitch have been inseparable ever since.
now, standing here in front of him with your former best friend, you were happy to see him, but you really just wanted to get back to your date. when you sat down, you told trevor what you wanted, which was your usual at almost any restaurant you went to, and mitch ordered his usual, as well.
when trevor walked away, mitch looked at you, brows furrowed. “do you know?”
“do i know what?” you asked, genuinely confused.
“that’s he’s into you. anyone could see from a mile away.” he crossed his arms, and you knew he wasn’t happy.
“what are you talking about?” you asked, crossing your own arms and resting them on the table. “we’re just friends.”
“to you, babe. to him, he wants to be more than friends.”
you narrowed your eyes at him. “are you jealous?” you smiled a little smug smile in his direction. “mitch rapp, are you jealous?”
he chuckled, dryly, looking away for a moment before looking back at you, shaking his head as he leaned forward to rest his own arms against the table, mirroring you. “i don’t get jealous.”
“uh-huh, yeah sure.” you reached a hand across the table, palm up. mitch made no hesitation as he took your hand in his. “you know i love you, right? no one will ever come between us. i promise.”
