I just wish I had characters like Rok-Tahk on TV when I was a chubby kid as tall as kids two years older than me. She’s so cute and she’s so sweet and she’s so lovable and she’s so BIG. And it’s OKAY. It doesn’t change how gentle and endearing she is or how the others see her, or Gwyn’s protective instinct towards her as a younger girl.

And now the show is gone and I guess big girls today won’t see that either. 😑

I mean, I think it’s a bad move for Star Trek to chase nostalgia and make Legacy, but it’s worth noting that nostalgia has been a part of the franchise since 1979 when The Motion Picture debuted. Like, I don’t think it’s a bad thing for old characters to show up again, or for Trek to explore its past. I guess I draw the line at “WE’RE GETTING THE BAND BACK TOGETHER!” impulse to have the TNG cast relive the glory days decades later.

Thoughts on Star Trek Prodigy season 2:

I liked it! A fun romp, a lot of great plot points, great to see the EMH again. Better than S3 Picard obviously, better than a lot of S2 Picard. Nice to see so much of Voyager's story touched on.

Really hope to see a S3, because I cannot emphasize enough how little I want to see Star Trek The Next Next Generation, it's a crying shame Jeri Ryan is getting wasted on the project.

My predictable take on the first episode of Star Trek: Prodigy

I started and finished Prodigy season one today.

I don't want to get ahead of myself before some serious contemplation, but that may be the best Star Trek since DS9 went off the air.

I managed to finish it at 2AM last night. It was very good, for the record. I can’t believe how much work and love went into this show and they’re just erasing it.

I love him so much. He is my most favoritist sunshine child ever. He is 17 at the start and 19 post skip and is one of the most infamous pirate captains out there. He is not a hero. But he will fight to protect what is His. This includes objects as well as people. And honestly ideas too. None of his crew set out to be his crew but each would lay down their life for him, tho he 100% expects them to Fight for him (as he would and they would too). He is an idiot but he is going places! He doesn’t care about knowing anything extra, just the very basics of the goal and who is with/against him and who is a bystander. Boy is beautiful inside and out. Plus his greatest treasure (hat aside) is his freedom and that he is 100% willing to share with anyone he sees oppressed. Also, his ships are equally important and even thought Merry is no longer sailing, she deserves all the love. Just like how Sunny has yet to make her biggest contribution, but is still worthy of all the seas.

Janeway's the first female captain to be portrayed on a Star Trek series. Groundbreaking, badass. Extremely capable, gets her crew through challenges of isolation and various external threats and as yet uncharted regions of space. Loves coffee.
