Sure. it was about a post where someone pointed out that a lot of white tumblr users refuse to engage with rap music unless its like, Hamilton or Twenty one pilots.

And like the post was obviously making fun of white people dismissing rap and hiphop as a whole, and basically saying it’s weird as hell that people will only engage with Black music when non-black people do it.

Then white ppl found the post and started saying stuff like “haha thats so me, the only rap I like is Hamilton because all other rap is violent and misogynist”

There’s some other examples, like posts that are pretty explicitly mocking fans who infantilize east asian idols, met with “aww i do that!”

basically white ppl see a post that mocks their racist behavior, then they think it’s charming to say “haha meee” without stopping to think, hey, maybe i should examine why a person of color would make jokes like these

This is not weird omg no one ever asks me about dialovers you need to understand I was into VNs including otome before I was into any anime (including bsd) and diabolik lovers is my longest term obsession that isn't music 💜🙏 This is mostly going to involve things from the games (because the anime was basically silly fanservice that barely scratches the surface for anyone) but I'll leave out drama cd stuff because I would actually need to go refresh myself on those.

Anyone not familiar with the series who decides to continue pls be aware of these warnings and take care of yourself. Also pls understand everything I say is in terms of the series and setting. Absolutely nothing that happens in these games would make any of these characters redeemable irl. This is fiction and a trashfire Do-S fetish franchise. Trauma doesn't excuse abuse. I don't condone any of the bad behavior from this series irl. (Sorry since this isn't my sideblog I feel I need to explain this so ppl don't come at me thinking I'm excusing stuff for reals with this little analysis)

Also this is probably going to have spelling mistakes and horrific formatting because I wrote it on mobile so my bad on that too.

This was so hard to answer because so many of them have serious trauma, maladaptive coping mechanisms, and large amounts of growth throughout the various sequels. I think you could make the logical argument of depth for every single character. The Sakamaki triplets are def the most tragic of the first two games in this regard though (maybe only rivaled by the Tsukinami brothers once we get to Dark Fate because of the whole being the sole survivors of genocide thing)

But as a whole I think Carla and Shin deal with their predicaments in a more outwardly focused manner (which makes sense given their stories and roles as antagonists in their debut game) so I don't think I could objectively call them the deepest esp Carla even though he is my fave.

So out of the Sakamaki triplets I am going to go with Laito. Shocking I know because I have said before he is the one I am the most terrified of. But hear me out.

(I'm using HBD (haunted dark bridal) to refer to the first game, and MB (more blood) to refer to the second game going forward)

His first route in hdb is a stomach twisting mess of isolation, noncon, gaslighting and victim blaming. It is also the only route in that game where Yui tries to kill herself, which imo is really notable. Tbh the first time I played it I was so deeply uncomfortable I didn't really give his character a lot of thought. During replays and some of his drama cds though it def changed my perspective of him (in terms of the deepness of his character, not my dislike of him)

Here are my arguments in topical format because I don't really want to go through and do the research needed to refresh myself and make this chronological. Also if I am mistaken with anything I've paraphrased my bad it's because this isn't a real essay more of a rant that you might regret reading lol.

- Cordelia

We can't go into the rest of my arguments without the facts. He was groomed by his mother and experienced a childhood of CSA at her hands. And he is absolutely confused and suffering when he has his flashbacks. Yes he kills her with the other two triplets, but that didn't actually solve anything for him internally, and I think it is a pretty clear-cut argument that his negative traits and behaviors can be linked back to his unresolved trauma from this. He even says it himself too when he tries to project onto Yui and claim her hatred for him must be the same as his for Cordelia (though unnamed in his quote im pretty sure) that a hatred can run so deep that even killing the person won't relieve the burning. The other ironic part of this is that in the dialovers universe it is explained multiple times that the highest act of love for a vampire is murder. So. Every LI (Reiji, Laito, Ayato, Kanato) that committed matricide out of their hatred probably has some deeper more complex feelings going on than that. (You could also argue maybe a similar thing about Carla and patricide as well though he is Founder/First Blood not vampire. But he is more open about his reasoning and feelings around his parents and why he did what he did imo)

- His disdain of purity (plot twist. It's jealousy).

We repeatedly see him mock both Yui's purity and religiosity. He is arguably the worst out of all of the LIs when it comes to this topic, and hits this point right out the gate when he assaults her in the abandoned church. It is simultaneously a logical and also weird choice on his part to continue on with when you realize how unwavering her faith actually is, and if you do other routes before this one you are already coming in realizing no matter how much she "breaks", "changes", or "gives in" in other ways, she never actually abandons her faith completely even in future games when she is living quite literally in the demon world. Even in routes where she becomes a vampire she doesn't eschew God. However it is canon that she is a devout Catholic and that she originally wanted to be a nun (before the events of the game screw that up for her), so it is still relevant.

While it may have started as a way to try and break her down, it really becomes more and more clear through his routes that like a bunch of his other behaviors, he is projecting his own struggles onto Yui.

He is jealous of her purity, so he attacks it. He is jealous of her faith, so he attacks it. He is jealous of her unwavering belief in goodness and in humanity, so he just. keeps. attacking. it. Because seeing it exist in front of him hurts, but especially early on he isn't aware of his own emotions or why he acts the way he does. So many things in his routes and his monologues highlight the fact that Laito views himself as permanently dirtied by his past, and this behavior is tied to that.

- His inability to identify his feelings from his fake front and his use of sex to maladaptively deal with his trauma.

** I wrote way too much on this and decide nvm I think even if someone has only seen the anime his hypersexuality probably speaks for itself. Plus this is getting so long 😔**

-His lack of control in MB and "forced" behavior. His confusion over his own tears near the end of HDB.

There are various instances (esp in MB where his characterization is wildly different and desperate compared to HDB) where we see his mask start to crack, or realize that his mask wasn't actually very good to begin with and the exhaustion from the continous abuse in his routes has caused both Yui (and us as the reader) to fall for his bullshit more easily. He plays the part of a pervert, but Shu (who arguably is a massive pervert) calls him out in MB for being a phony. His behavior in MB makes him come across as desperate and out of control, as opposed to his calculated sadism in HDB. This all comes back to his inner turmoil, unresolved feelings, and trauma and we slowly unpeal those layers through the rest of the series.

I think at baseline it is really easy to dismiss Laito. I did from the beginning too. Plus he never stops calling Yui Bitch-chan no matter how many sequels he gets 🤦‍♂️ But that is just falling for his fake front, exactly what he wants you to do because then he can just keep carrying on without dealing with his bs and let off steam temporarily in the process. But under the surface there is a lot more going on. And he definitely is a character that has an insane amount of depth.

Sorry for the multi part novel. I don't even like him as an LI even in this series. But for a series with so many inconsistencies, retcons across games, and questionable writing choices, they did a good job with his character. I just need him to stay far away from both me and Yui 🥲 Imagine if you had asked me something that prompted me to talk about my faves 💀💀💀

post-canon itfs traveling the world--where r they going n what r they getting up to?

Yuuji is the sun peaking through the clouds after a storm and shining light through the rain still dripping off leaves.

Megumi is an overcast, cloudy sky that could bring either rain or lightning; it can bring life or destruction.

Nobara is the fierce shift in the wind, bringing about big changes in the ocean's tides to bring large waves or it can turn a gentle breeze into a maelstrom, it all depends on where your position is in relation to it.

As for post-canon itfs, I could see them starting off with the edges of Japan like Hokkaido. I feel like they'd do a lot of nature exploring and hiking, trying to see new things. I also think they'd be super down to go somewhere entirely new once they finish with Japan, but Yuuji would want to go to the big name places like Paris or Morocco or New York before they'd eventually abandon their initial plans to go the more scenic route and wander around to hidden gems.

Fun fact about the AI room here - it actually seems to be somewhat based on the AI room of The Rot, as it has four segments (one of which we can see here), while it's still classified as one room. Don't ask me what the logistics are with this, and LttM's main puppet chamber that we shave in Shoreline. My only guess is that perhaps iterators actually have multiple puppets, and this room is simply surrounding another one, that you can't access. I know it might seem like an overambitious theory, but like, our current advanced AIs have the ability to interact with and provide their services to thousands of people at once, so surely, these inconceivably large supercomputers have the capability of managing multiple puppets at the same time too. It's weird how nobody thought of this before.

Oh, and I don't blame you for not including the full room here. The layout of that one is very strange, and I would have certainly struggled to put the whole thing onto the image too. And anyone who knows the room should be aware of its actual size and layout (plus it not having an exit on the image is a clear sign).

Extra comment: Don't really have any comments here honestly, except that personally, ASSEMBLY is just too infuriating for me to appreciate it. Yeah it has great visuals, yeah it's unique, yeah it's memorable, but in terms of design, I think it fails rather spectacularly. Granted, The Rot in general was kind of intended to have loads of frustrating elements, and this room does indeed incorporate them well, but I don't feel like it was done in a fun and fair way this time. It could just be me having a vendetta against botomless pits, but I also just suffered a lot, trying to get through it post-ending, to reach an unlockable. I imagine it likely wasn't intended for players to try and look for it at that point, cus goddamn, that journey wasn't very fun. Also, Assembly has tortured the everliving hell out of me in college, so I don't particularly appreciate the name either. Sry :< Rest are all awesome though, at least.

He’ll leave no matter what if you’re at Disinterest level. If you’re Fond or Crush, you can get him to stay by telling him to stay/that you don’t want him to go rather than helping him go home or getting your moms. Have a good day too!

Will the additional content only available on your patron become buyable on steam once the game is completed? 

The beta build content that’s being tested right now will eventually release on Steam when it’s done. The 18+ bonus side story is a Patreon exclusive though, because we can’t make the Steam version of OL an adult rated game.

will there be a sales bundle once the wedding dlc releases? i want to buy all the dlcs right now since i enjoyed the base game alot but i need to manage my money. thanks for creating this game !

All the DLCs and the soundtrack will be bundled and go on sale when the Wedding DLC comes out~

What exactly does indifferent mean? I want to experience the game as a whole but I don’t want to hurt Cove’s feelings…🥺 

It means you’re not close to each other, you’re just neighbors rather than friends. Sometimes it’s neutral, sometimes it’s unpleasant, and sometimes there’s a level of mutual respect. But Cove is just as disinterested as the MC, so his feelings aren’t hurt by it.

hello i've recently played OL1 and i've been hooked! i really can't enjoy other visual novel type games anymore... that being said, is there a chance that there will be more in depth romance interactions with derek and baxter? they feel like they're like summer flings, will we ever get a chance to interact with them like how we have done with cove? keep up the great work! super excited for OL2! ♥♥♥♥

Derek and Baxter will eventually get their own DLCs which will allow you to follow a story staring them instead of Cove. It can be romantic or platonic.

Hello!! I saw a previous ask about the dating Baxter DLC and it implied that no matter what choices we pick, he will still end the relationship at the end of step 3. Is this true or did I misinterpret the post? Thank you in advance and sorry for the weird question! 

Yeah, he always leaves. It’s him, not you, haha. But that’s the halfway point of the story, not the end of it.

Cove is for sure not going to be there, I’m afraid. As for the other part of the question, I can’t say. Whether they will or won’t is unknown.

Im sorry if this has been asked before, but it wasn't in the faq and I'm unsure if it'd be listed somewhere - but! Has it been / will yall reveal what makes Cove have different appearances on each of the life steps? I know it's kinda spoilery and ppl can find out by making different choices and what not but Im just curious what the flags are having played a couple times w/ making only slight variations in my choices and getting an entirely different looking cove :3 Again sry if its been asked ty 

It’s generally the choices that are about taste/preferences/opinions/selecting objects that determine his looks rather than choices that are about actions/feelings/spoken words.

If Cove doesn't wear his glasses in Step 2, 3 or 4, did his eyesight get better or is he using contact lenses ? 

By default he just uses contacts, but if he for sure never wants to use glasses again he can get an eye surgery to correct that so he doesn’t need to use them.

Will Cove be getting a separate love interest in the Derek/Baxter DLCs? 

He’s single during Step 4 if you don’t date him. He could potentially end up with someone else further in the future but the game doesn’t depict that.

will the ol2 demo be public or is it going to be patreons only? 

It’s going up for patrons first but later on it will be free and public!

Hello, how long ponytail Cove in step 3 if him let his hair down? 

It goes down to about the collarbone area in Step 3.

Why did Cove choose to have a pink cast if it isn’t one of his favourite colours? Or was the decision out of his control like the doctor or one of his parents picking the colour? 

Because at the time it seemed very bright and cheerful and that drew him to it as a small, sad, injured child, haha.

The NSFW dlc is already available? 

Yep! It’s given away at tier 2 “Fans” and higher on our Patreon. Though, it’s only a bonus side story that’s just one part of the reward rather than a full-sized DLC you’re buying.

Coves rather pretty would he on his own or convinced by mc wear a skirt or feminine outfits? Or is he strictly masculine and thinks of himself that way 

Cove isn’t drawn to skirts or more feminine outfits personally, so he wouldn’t wear them casually. But if the MC earnestly wanted to see what he’d look like in that kind of look, he would be willing to get dressed up for them.

I wonder what was that poor driver thinking/doing as the MC was confessing to Cove in step 4? I imagine feeling very awkward being a third wheel in their own car would be very uncomfortable. 

Probably hoping they wrap this up soon, though at least it’ll be a funny story to tell future customers for small talk.

In Stage 1, is there any way to ever figure out the mysterious/scary noise? I’ve played twice and could never find it😭 

It can be brought up again in Step 3 if you feel scared/sick during Boating and as a more grown up individual Cove determines that it was just the wind all along. You could headcanon he’s wrong and there is something mysterious out there, but that’s the in-game explanation.

DLC wise, in step 2 will we be able to kiss Derek instead of Cove?

Hi, i try to make sport MC but she alway end up bad at it, i wonder how to make her become more sporty? 

You usually just make choices saying your MC does sports and is fast/competent/strong and such. Is there a specific scene where she’s not being sporty? There are a few games that are partially up to randomness on whether you win or not, so you might’ve gotten unlucky.

I’m sorry you’re not able to use Patreon. Maybe someday the bonus story will be available elsewhere, but unfortunately we can’t upload it on sites along the main game so the main game isn’t forced to carry an 18+ rating. Because of that it’s difficult to have anywhere else to post/maintain/promote the bonus story besides Patreon.

will baxter and derek ever meet each other outside of the wedding dlc? 

Not in the normal version of Step 4, probably not in their own DLCs either but those aren’t done yet so who knows, haha.

its probably too soon to know heights, but i was wondering if there was any general idea for the height range of the ol2 characters?  like if theyre tall, average, or short in height generally?  qui gives me tall vibes and tamarack short vibes, but im really curious! 

Tamarack is a shortie and Qiu is just kind of average!

Hi! How tall do you think the LIs for OL2 are going to be? Also, I recently have been trying to find the previous posts about OL2 and I can't seem to find them when I search for them with the tag? Like I remember there used to be a post where you showcased the customisation screen for OL2 breifly, or some misc questions about Tamarack and Qiu, have you deleted them? 

The first part is answered by the above ask, but for the second part we haven’t deleted a prior post before. I don’t know why it’s not showing for you. People are still reblogging that post about the customization screen so I know for sure that hasn’t gotten removed. Tumblr’s tagging system might just be struggling to show everything under a tag, it is kind of hit and miss.

Hi! I really enjoyed playing Our Life, but I was curious about something. Does the order in which you play the moments matter in each step? I usually play them in order from left to right but I wasn't sure if that was affecting how the game progressed. Thank you! 

The order you play in will determine whether or not you get certain alterations based on prior events that have happened, but there’s no ideal way to play them in that gets you all the extras. You have to play multiple times in different orders to see all the little alterations.

Hey, I heard from a friend that XOXO Reunion has been discontinued, can I get conformation on that if it’s true please? 

It’s on full hold and not making progress right now, but I don’t think I’d ever write it off completely. Though, I also don’t want people to get their hopes up that’d it happen soon, aha.

Hi! Thanks for making OL. I have a question abt the Derek DLC. The proposal Derek makes to MC at the end of Step 2 is that *if* they haven't found anyone in ten years they'll get married. Does Derek date other people? I figure it's up to the player if MC dates at all. 

It depends on how close you were with him in Step 2 and how much you stay in contact with him in Steps 3/4. It’s possible he dates more regularly/has some relationships or it’s possible he never really does anything besides casual hangouts with other people.

“Tsk, how would I know? Ask the people trending it on Twitter,” Johnny replies. He flicks his chin up at Yuta, greeting him when he appears in the doorway of the kitchen-like space.

“What’s trending on twitter?”

“Dude, some people are saying that me and the dreamies are, like, too human, and it’s creepy or whatever,” Mark mumbles through a particularly large mouthful of genetically modified chicken. “Like, I didn’t even know people still go on that thing after Elon Musk took over.”

"Oh...are they saying that about 127 Neo androids too?” Yuta questions, trying his best to sound indifferent about the topic.

“Hold on.” Johnny’s thumb swipes up the computer screen embedded in his forearm. He scrolls through the seemingly endless social media posts on the often toxic, barely functional platform.

Yuta takes a seat at the island in the middle of the narrow room that was converted into a charging station years ago. Reaching behind his head to the base of his neck, he pops open a metallic flap located under his shaggy hair that never grows. He unravels a charging cord from the tiny compartment and tugs the cord around to his front. A buzzing shock of power surges through his state-of-the-art titanium alloy system as he plugs into an electrical socket on the face of the counter.

For the most part, charging has become obsolete to those manufactured with Neo Culture Technology®, but he admires the sensation from time to time. Hooking himself up is the most efficient method of pulling old files to the forefront of his processing center.

He can visualize the scenes of the past as if they were happening right before his very eyes from the perspective he had had in that moment. The most reviewed files he plays on repeat dated back to a simpler time, a time when he was not chock-full of large gigabytes of information, and could function without constantly questioning if these questions were of his own creation or somehow planted in his mind. Although reviewing saved memories is something every Neo can do (among other things), Yuta has never asked another android if they do the same thing for a sense of comfort.

Or if they ever feel a sense of comfort at all.

“Nah, doesn’t look like we’re mentioned. Why?”

Yuta fails to hear Johnny’s voice as he watches Mark eating his hefty lunch like so many other times. While every Neo android felt, or more like detected physical sensations, one of the perks of being a DREAM.AI was the upgraded sensory capacity of simulated taste buds — something Yuta wishes the #S127.AI models had as well. The dreamies do not absolutely need to eat to function at full power; they simply have the luxury to do so when they please and replace the modified food as an energy source. There are a whole host of luxuries Yuta wishes every Neo model was manufactured with and the list doesn't simply end there.

Johnny yanks Yuta out of a memory he is reviewing nostalgically. “Yuta?”

“Oh, no reason. Just curious,” the Japanese imported android answers with a shrug, twitching his lips. The thinnest layer of disappointment winds around his words like the expertly intertwined wires hidden underneath the polished idol shell of his.

Yuta lowers his head the next instant but Mark reads it all over his face, or so he believes. He swallows the thick bite of food on his tongue that would have likely choked a real human, and lowers his chopsticks. Mark’s skeptical eyes scan the other android currently in the process of carefully folding his legs up to sit criss-cross on the tall stool.

Mark would testify before the court of law that he detected a shift from his fellow Neo, even if only for a millisecond. Mind you, it should not be possible that Yuta’s demeanor suddenly seemed downcast upon hearing the public’s perception of them; and yet here he is, strange, borderline sadness clinging to his synthesized skin and all.

Mark blinks a handful of times to return to reality. He rationalizes that he must be too drained to perceive his surroundings with accuracy. His power level does happen to be extremely low at the moment, energy levels routinely stretched because he doubles as a member of NCT Dream and NCT 127. That must explain the abnormal tone of the performer’s voice that he imagined.

Everyone knows that the #S127.AI series of Neo models, while sentient in some ways, still lacked the capability to truly feel any emotion. All the #S127.AI models could do is replicate an emotion to put on a show for the public when need be. They practice this all the time (but for one android, it is not practice).

The absence of true emotion is something that stands in contrast to the DREAM.AI models who experience a fraction of the emotional connection that an actual human being would. Mark was lucky enough that LSM Inc. had splurged a few months after he was revealed and completely remodeled his hardware and system processor to match the dreamie Neo construction a few months after he was revealed a decade ago.

Yuta doesn't need as much time as Mark to fully revitalize his energy levels through charging; and although Johnny should get back to the lower member quarters that he is stored in, he too stays behind with the more advanced Neo and fellow android. They chit-chat for over half an hour about their upcoming comeback in September, and then their plans for the elaborate, widely anticipated collaboration of all the Neo models that is to be put on at the end of the year. Whatever slight resemblance to disappointment in Yuta’s processing center melts away as the warm afternoon peaks at midday.

You love your job. You could not imagine a more perfect occupation than being an engineer at LSM Inc- the world’s leading company in artificial intelligence research and manufacturing. The work is occasionally fast paced, based on whichever series of androids you are assigned to, but no matter the workload, you excel and stand out. Your first few months at the company pass by in a flash, and before you knew it, you land one of the most sought positions at the company: the second in command engineer to the Neo Culture Technology series of #S127 models.

Although, unlike what you expect from the new promotion, you do not have much contact with the NCT members directly; instead, it is the head engineer of #S127 Neos that covers every task having to do with in-person repairs or updates. Your position requires more off-site work than every duty prior to this one.

You work with choreographers, vocal coaches and music producers to craft new code in the programming for the head engineer to approve and then upload to the band members' servers directly. You and a team of five other engineers under your authority basically do all the work for #S127’s performance programming, yet you are deprived of the interaction you so desperately crave.

The main motivation behind your drive to meet them was not because you find the way their physical features are sculpted as attractive (which they most certainly are, and anyone who says otherwise is downright lying) but rather by your interest in how they behave off camera.

You work on the public presentation of their performances, yet you have no clue what they are really like off stage – if they are anything more than strictly programmed robots at all. Hearing from another engineer that each of the Neo models appear to had developed some skeleton of a personality since the Neo Culture Technology was released way back in 2016, greatly sparked your interest further and fueled your desire to get up close and personal with them even more.

Finally, when your superior has to take a sick leave off of work, there comes the opportunity to do just that. You feel guilty to be so grateful and silently celebrate, but her leave of absence works to your advantage. Presumably, for at least two weeks, you are in charge of administering the updated coding and directly interacting with the #S127 models because of that. You convince yourself that this will be the highlight of your career: studying the subjects of your hard work behind the scenes after all this time.

You show up at the #S127’s member quarters bright and early at the beginning of the week. Your stress level is through the roof due to the fact that your boss is a week behind schedule, meaning you are in charge of making up for that missed time. The snag in your plan to get a jumpstart on the extensive uploading you need to complete is that no one in the lower member quarters on level 5 of LSM Inc’s advanced facility answers the door.

Ever the problem solver, you take an elevator ride up to the upper member quarter’s on level 10…only to find yourself out of luck a second time. Camped outside the closed door, you sink to the floor of the dimly lit hallway. They have a pressing obligation to attend to this afternoon and your hope that you will accomplish what you came here to do by that time dwindles.

What could they possibly be doing so early in the morning? ...sleeping?

You are positive that they are not programmed to sleep. If they were to be doing so, that would stray from the Neo Culture Technology programming which is designed with their need to charge with electricity for full power. Any employee would have no choice but to document every single new development within their processing and inform the lead engineer of design, Lee Sooman, if there were to be any major evolutions within an android’s framework that he created.

You sit on the cold, hardwood floors for a half hour, kicking level 10’s member quarters every so often because you are too lazy to get up from where you are sitting with your back pressed against the wall. You seriously begin to consider reporting the occupants of both member quarters. You know that if it was any other engineer in this situation, waiting in the dark for them to open up, they would be balancing on the edge of another classification because they would be deemed with having too drastic of a behavior change from the expected Neo Culture Technology initially designed. After all, one of the main reasons that they were created was that relying on android performers over human beings is more time efficient. They could work nearly nonstop, aside from the charging process, and of course they would avoid military service. You are just about to retreat and call it a day when the door swings open.

“Are you y/n?” Taeil questions.

“Do you have any idea how long I’ve been here? I was waiting in the dark for 30 minutes. What were you doing all this time?” you interrogate with no regard to his own question. “All I can think of is sleep. Do you all sleep? Do you even need to charge or is sleeping enough to revitalize your power? Where is your charging station?”

“Woah, that’s a lot of questions,” a smoother, deeper voice you recognize as Jaehyun’s sounds from behind the first Neo android in the doorway.

You clear your throat. “So, are you gonna let me in now or what?”

The wide eyed figure with a warm smile that is blocking your way pivots slightly, making a wide enough gap for you to squeeze by.

“You’re looking for that room right there,” Jaehyun points.

You make a b-line for the charging station that was once classified as a kitchen if a human called this their humble abode. Having to lug around a heavy, worn out bag carrying all your necessary equipment does not help with your irritated attitude. Your eyes land on Yuta and Mark at the cramped table with Jungwoo standing near the island. Their attention snaps to you, immediately causing whatever conversation between them to die down. Yuta raises his eyebrows at you as his eyes swipe up and down your body.

You can’t explain it but there is something about Yuta and his mysterious, intriguing energy that draws you to him over the more youthful appearing android at his left or the previously animated storyteller closer to you.

“So I have some questions but I’m behind on time so let’s make this quick. Do you guys still charge? And if you say yes, why do you sleep? Or, wait, do you sleep?” you berate the Neos with questions.

If androids like the ones in front of you developed along to the point that they did not reply on an electrical socket to function, they would need a total reset of their programming no matter how you felt for them about it and wanted to get to know them for research purposes; and it would be nice to get to talk to Yuta more than once.

He’s not the priority though. You need to remember that.

You would undoubtedly feel guilty about resetting all of their processing centers to factory settings, wiping every bit of what makes them them away. In terms of your workload, you would definitely struggle to restore all the programming from years of performances saved to their hard drives but you know that would not be the biggest hang up with the memory wipe. If only you know how you could save the entirety of their memories as a backup procedure.

“Wait, wait, wait, what are you talking about?” Mark gets up from his seat, shoveling the last bite of his birthday cake into his mouth. “How do you know we even sleep?”

“Well what else would you be doing in the early morning, you know?”

“We could’ve been-”

“Okay, I'm seriously running out of time. I have the choreography to upload today. Who can I take first?”

“I’ll go,” Yuta offers before anyone else speaks up.

“Okay, great. Can you show me to your room?”

Yuta nods his head to the hall with an overly polite smile, quickly turning the corner and leading you to his room. He stalks down the hallway of the member quarters like he owns the place. You sit by the head of the bed and get to work removing the expensive technology from your bag while he closes the door silently and drags a desk chair over from the other side of the room.

He sits himself down in front of you, scooting his seat close enough that your knees brush together. You quickly part your thighs on instinct to avoid contact with his legs. It occurs to you that it does not matter that he touches you, whether that be with his knees or his hands.

Stop imagining his hands.

You only flinched on reflex, that's all. Just like you would if any guy you were not acquainted with had touched your legs unexpectedly. Although, if he were a real, living breathing, conscious guy who made his own decisions and had his own thoughts, you certainly would not spread your legs for him that fast. You don’t even know him— if there’s anything you don’t know about him in the first place.

He extends his forearm to you with the inside of his wrist facing the cream colored ceiling. “How long is this going to take, Miss robot-nurse?”

You snort at the silly title he gives you, “Nurses are for humans. Living, breathing humans.”

“And I’m not life-like enough to pass as human, I get it.”

You firmly hold the top of his hand in your palm as if he were a human that might wince from the pain of something being inserted into their arm. It should not make sense that he feels warm like an actual hand, and even more so, that he does in fact twitch in the slightest manner. If you were not looking for signs of unusual behavior, you might not have noticed the tiny movement.

“What do you mean? I think you do pass off as human from the outside.”

Maneuvering a second wire around and into his upper arm triggers a small device to protrude from his wrist, projecting a lime holographic image of a battery to hover above it. The battery fills up as a representation of the information being uploaded and it’s speed is slow to say the least.

It may seem old fashioned for the times, but you prefer writing with a pencil over typing on your laptop or the new iphone 21V. You make detailed notes about what you have observed since entering the #S127 level 10 member quarters. Things such as the way it is organized (ridiculously dirty with cups scattered here and there), the differences in the Neo’s speech patterns you were not aware of, and their varying responses to the surprise intrusion into their typically visitor-free environment.

“Exactly. From the outside,” Yuta says in a bitter tone.

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

He looks away from you to find a distraction around his neat storage station. His eyes flick from one uninteresting object to the next until he lowers his eyes and settles on something he deems appropriate for the occasion. According to his experience with human interactions, they get distracted when personal matters are brought up and are thrown off guard. Some humans even like to talk about themselves, and he would not mind getting to hear more about you, but he incorrectly assumes you belong in that talkative boat. “What are you writing, exactly? How has our performance leveled to your expectations?”

You pause mid-scribble and arch an eyebrow at him. “Hm, I didn’t expect you to be nosy either.”

“Not nosy, observative. Like I’m supposed to be,” he enunciates with a coy smirk. “And you didn’t answer the question.”

“Hm… well, for the record, you didn’t answer mine, either.”

Ignoring his stare, you scoot back against the wall and return to your in-depth documentation. He remains quiet for nearly the entire time it takes to finish with his program updating. You grow curious about what he does in the meantime while he has no outward stimulation. You sneak a peek over the top of your busy, nearly eligible, scientific journal. His eyes bore into the wall over your shoulder, glossy and out of focus. They look empty and nearly emotionless, but there is a faint swirling lost look in them, seemingly begging to be found.

“What are you doing?”

He blinks for a millisecond longer than normal for his type; you were under the presumption that every android blinks within a uniform time. His line of sight shifts directly to you in place of the cold, empty wall. He has seen pictures of your every-day twenty-something-year-old’s personal bedrooms, their walls covered in posters and pictures they have printed out with their friends. He has a strong desire to cover his own walls in images of scenes he has saved in his mind that calm him down when he is on the verge of overheating. It is a desire that has only grown stronger over the years. But suddenly he will tell himself No it doesn’t. That that is not him when the thoughts choke up his processing. He repeatedly scolds himself for falsely imagining he feels any form of desire. It is unnatural and made up. He will have to make do with what an emotionless android, who has no personal connections to anything in particular like he is supposed to…NO, not just supposed to be. HE IS JUST AS EMOTIONLESS AS THE OTHERS.

You look over your shoulder to study the blank barrier between the Neo’s spaces. They used to share tiny storage containers, locked in when the sun went down and hooked up to wires that charged them overnight; they have come a long way from those dark days.

“Are you picturing something?”

He deflects again. “Have you seen the movie Walle?”

What is he hiding? What is it that trying to get answers out of him feels like you are pulling teeth. His pearly white, ceramic teeth don’t count though. You could stare at that healing smile of his for days on end come to think of it… which you shouldn’t. Because that’s a waste of time and you have an actual job to do.

“Yes, I have,” you sigh. “Where are you going with this?”

“I think about that movie a lot. We watch it together all the time, actually,” Yuta confesses, then perks up with an idea. “You should join us next time. For research purposes of course.”

“That’s tempting but I have things to do.

“What? Where else do you have to be?” he continues.

You snap your tongue in amusement. “For starters, I have a job.”

He gets up from the swivel chair and offers you his hand to help pull you across the mattress and off the bed. You take his hand and squeak when the motion happens in the blink of an eye.

“We are your job.”

You stare at the floor for a moment, considering his proposition. “Fine. I’ll be here tomorrow evening. But if you guys don’t open the door immediately at 7 pm, I’m leaving. Got it?”

“Affirmative, ma’am,” he states, as he raises his hand to a salute that makes you laugh.

He feels a glowing warmth in his chest that he has never felt before, electrocuted when sparks fly as you linger in his mind long after you have gone.

The ride home on the bullet train may have been smooth, but your mind is twisted with thick knots. Your head aches as you fixate on the whole Yuta ordeal and how you feel about it.

There is no way that an android like Yuta could express any shred of real emotion...but you could’ve sworn you caught a glimpse of something that was too similar to drop it.

You saw it in his eyes when he stared at the blank wall, a look on his face that strayed away from a blank one that a typical android should have. Then there was the bitter tone he took when he said ‘I’m not life-like enough to pass as human.' It rubbed off as a smudge of jealousy that, again, androids are not supposed to have.

And last but not least, there was a flirty shadow that clung to his every word with you. No engineer would ever add a quality like that for effect. The only reason that Neo Technology Androids would be installed with a spectrum of character traits is for interviews, performances, fan signs, and other public appearances, but from a technical standpoint, those responses should only be activated in certain settings. Whatever character Yuta has is incompatible to anything you have ever seen before.

And you’re incapable of saying you aren’t drawn to him.

The next evening, as well as the day after that, you spend twice as much time at the #S127 level 10 member quarters under the pretense it's “research.” Every member gives you and Yuta space because he tells them he is the only one you're focusing on. You need to concentrate on him and him alone.

As each day passes, it gets increasing heated with him and you know it. He knows what he's doing, and you know he knows what he's doing. Your "research" notes eventually become blank pages that you pretend to write on, too distracted to document anything meaningful most of the time.

You sit on the edge of the bed, for once typing out reports that are now past due. Putting the laptop on the bed next to you, an exhausted sigh leaves your lips. You can’t concentrate on a single thing because your time with him is running out. You have about three days left with the #S127 Neos and you desperately wish you had all the time in the world with him.

It feels like everything moved drastically fast. A week and a half with him has felt like two days, and yet two years simultaneously.

You keep thinking about how you might compare you and Yuta to Beauty and the Beast, where there is a stigma about growing affections for someone like the Beast or Yuta. The exception with that is the Beast was assumed to be too wild for any human normalcy, while Yuta was the exact opposite.

Mid-Disney princess thought, Yuta pops your bubble. He steps in front of you, gently grabbing your chin and raising your head up to meet his gaze. “I’ve been waiting so long do this, y/n,” he admits softly, finally leaning down to kiss you with all the sincerity in the world.

It lasts a mere three seconds but it might as well have been a whole year by how happy it makes you. His lips are just as uniquely warm as his hands, and because he was sculpted with the most beautiful features, his mouth is just as perfect. It really does feel like you are kissing another human, but Yuta is better. He knows exactly what he's doing after he accumulated every bit of knowledge off the web about how to make his kisses feel magical just for you. All of it was for you.

It only took three days before he fully accepted he was far too independent to identify with a scientific title [MODEL #NY261095] because it barely defined him anymore. He was nearly real and you were on the borderline of throwing caution to the wind and chasing his lips when he pulled away.

“I wish I could taste your chapstick on your mouth,” he whispers.

You open your eyes quickly and jump up. “I can do that!”

He sits on the bed with a questioning look. “What do you mean?”

“I meaannnn I know how to alter your sensory capabilities, including stimulating taste buds! Why didn’t you ever tell me you were interested in that?” You scurry around the room to collect your stuff.

“I don’t know, it never came up?” He stands up to block the door. “Wait, where are you going?”

“You’ll see tomorrow, okay?” You give him a wide smile and pat his chest, leaning in for one last short kiss before you leave his room.

It’s been less than two weeks but still, you have come a long way from quizzing the 127 Neos about their tendency to sleep when that strays drastically from protocol. Now, you are on your way up the elevator with more advanced equipment to grant Yuta’s wishes. It was a simple alteration in the hardware, something that could have been done for every neo if this machinery wasn’t so power consuming. There was just enough battery power to update Yuta so sadly, the other guys who did want this capability would have to wait until another day.

Carefully balancing the heavy bag of essential items on your hip, you dig your hand in your pocket to fish out the key they had given you, since you come over in the early mornings so often.

“Hey, guys!” you yell out only to hear complete and utter silence. “Guys?!”

As you make your way deeper into the level 10 member quarters, you notice a slip of paper taped to the wall close to the door. You already have a bad taste in your mouth, slipping off the strap of the bag and placing it down carefully on the sparkling clean, wooden flooring. Apprehensively, you rip the dreaded note off the wall and read…

The #S127 series is being wiped of all files due to the overflow clogging up processing capabilities. When they are dropped off this afternoon, lead them to the charging station and hook them up. Rebooting them to factory settings makes it hard for them to distinguish their surroundings or do anything for themselves for a few days.

Some might say you have a few loose screws of your own for growing so attached to Yuta, but all you know is that the person you once knew was more than just nuts and bolts. And when you whip around to see the door swing open a millisecond later, the empty shell of a person reverted back to factory settings that walks into the room sees tears streaming down your face and feels nothing at all.

hi this question is going to be weird, but i need some advice, if that's ok? this is my first ever election process, which yknow sucks for 2 many reasons. and i just wanted to ask what you think the best (ethical?) thing to do is? should i vote in the primaries? should i vote at all? i'm genuinely not sure what i should do, besides just wanting what's going to get the least amount of ppl killed. thanks in advance regardless of ur response, sry if this ask is annoying u at all

I’m not sure I’m the one to ask about this since the whole election thing has made be jaded and bitter, honestly vote for whatever you feel is the best. I hate being pessimistic but im very doubtful that Biden will beat Trump, I think he’ll be torn apart during the debates and that he will not carry a movement that has no enthusiasm. I made a long-winded post about my thoughts on how the campaign will end but that was over a week ago and I don’t think I can dig it up. The democratic primaries are futile and I don’t think they matter at this point anymore.

I think Biden is a terrible person and would be a disastrous president, he’s a lying sack of shit who’s supported disastrous policies, was pro-segregation, opposed LGBT+ rights legislation, supported the Iraq and Afghan war, supported mass surveillance bills along with the Obama administration’s policy of bombing non-combatants and the destabilization of Libya, and supported crime legislation that lead to the mass incarceration of Black and Brown people for minor drug offenses, the Obama administration’s policies on immigration deporting over a hundred thousand people and allowing ICE to become what it is now, on top of him being a sexual predator, so the whole rhetoric about “voting for Biden will mean less people die” or “if you don’t vote Biden and Trump wins and people die it’s your fault” is complete horse shit and don’t let anyone guilt you into thinking he’s ethically superior to Trump, they’re both the same as far as I’m concerned. I’m not going to scream at people and tell them not to vote for him though, because given the circumstances we’re being forced to vote for equally terrible sexual predators, but I honestly feel that this election is a fraud and that direct action and working class movements are the only way to get us out of this shithole

Honestly vote if you feel like it’ll help, write down Bernie or Vermin Supreme or Warren or whatever 3rd party candidate you want, go ahead and put down Biden if you genuinely think it’ll help, but I really recommend looking into research and working with local leftist groups or unions like the IWW, reach out and support members of your community and stand up for your fellow person, join protests and rallies and participate in general strikes. Honest to god I’m probably not going to vote, I’m not gonna say that others should not vote, but I sure as hell am going to be out in the streets with others this November

lana buys lots of things on random whims n i feel like smthn she wld have bought the summer her n dom started properly seeing each other is a polaroid camera. probably one of those fujifilm mini ones in pink w stickers on of holographic mermaids n butterflies. n all her friends wld be subject to hving their photos taken on this at 447294734 parties but fr the most part like 50% of the film wld be spent on dom esp considering how often they’d see each other. i cn imagine her being annoying abt it e.g. bursting in unannounced when he ws showering n flinging the curtain bk n shrieking in delight as she tkes a pic of him in there. penis NOT in shot (lana ws very disappointed when she realised altho inevitably dom ws relieved). it ws probably rly blurry too from her springing out of nowhere n running away after she’d dazed him w the flash bt lana wld never dream of throwing it away she’s probably like ugh cole sprouse WISHES he ws me tht stupid i’m weird i’m a weirdo bitch i’m taking his photographer crown n i’m loving it..... another time if she ws wearing his tshirt or smthn jst to laze around in she wld have tried to convince dom to wear her cropped bowie t-shirt she usually lounges in she’d b like OUTFIT SWAP!!!! like it ws a reality show segment. she’d do his hair w her strawberry clips n everything n wna take a polaroid of tht as well. a majority of these polaroids wld b taken w her sat on top of him in bed peeping thru the viewfinder n grinning sickeningly wide after. she’s bad at organisation bt she wld keep very close track of these polaroids n treasure them a lot bc they’d document a summer where she was rly rly happy. probably took them with her to la too she jst has them hidden somewhere.... idk if she’d ever b able to bring herself to throw them away to b honest

i jst had this vision of lana n dom taking franklin to the park n i already told u abt how she’d tell franklin tht she gives the flowers all their own names n say he shld come up w his own names fr them too bc it’s more fun tht way bt. i cn imagine if they saw two bees trying to pollinate the same flower n like buzzing close to each other if franklin pointed it out lana wld gasp n be like OMG they’re in love. they’re married bees. u can tell frm how bright their stripes r they’re extra yellow n glowing like the sun tht’s what happens. tht means they’re in love franklin. n idk if franklin wld say this or not bt if he asked what loves like lana wld b like hmMMM well. love’s kind of like being first in the queue fr the best rollercoaster. or licking the sugar off ur fingers when they’re all sticky frm candy floss. going to the zoo n getting to see all ur favourite animals on a day tht’s sunny but not TOO hot. enough to give ur nose freckles bt not burn ur shoulders. make u feel toasty like ur inside a cocoon. n love’s like........ she’d pause here. she’s crouched dwn on his lvl as she says this mayb dom hs walked off to get them ice creams n she briefly lks at him in the distance as he’s paying before lking bk at franklin. scrunching her nose playfully as she tries to stall. when she hesitantly continues she’s like. n love’s like getting home after tht perfect day at the zoo n finally getting into bed w fresh sheets when ur sleepy n ur eyes r all droopy n heavy. the pillows r fluffy n it’s safe n warm n all of the gd in the world at once. i think love’s like tht. it’s jst.... nice n stuff. n she’d jst be like :) afterwards realising she’d rambled on n change the subject like hey lk at that BUTTERFLY franklin............. bt i jst think this is. particularly heartwarming to me bc not only wld she have been basing tht on hw she feels abt dom bt. in the past love ws always a thing w barbs tht hurt her whenever she tried to hold it n.... he jst rly transformed her idea of being loved by someone into smthn safe n reliable n consistent......... smthn she cld actually make a home out of instead of constantly hving an eye on the door in case they leave / she needs an escape route..... a relationship isn’t a scary concept w him

lana treats halloween as a week long celebration she goes to sm parties tht she literally hs to have like..... 482759872 costumes planned each yr. n fr one of them. she’d b like let’s go as each other :) n she’d dress as an angel n he’d dress as a devil. she’d put on red lipstick before they went purely to “help w his costume” n it’d jst consist of her leaving lipstick prints on his cheek n neck n hip even if. his hip wsnt visible w the top he ws wearing she’d b like dom listen.... listen. it’s literally part of the vision n it’s necessary......... it doesn’t matter if ppl can’t see it we’ll both kno it’s there n it’ll elevate the look so mch...... w that attention to detail u cld even b in the running fr winning a prize...... then she wld take the lipstick off like it wldnt even be part of her outfit she only put it on to do this specifically. she’d insist on them getting a photo tgether n it’d b a bit gross it’d b a whole thing she jst.... wld b very proud to b seen w him she’d show him off a lot.... if anyone complimented her outfit she’d b like ya n have u seen dom he’s a devil we match :) n if there ws another pair tht had worn the same which i mean there probably might it isn’t a hugely original concept bt lana wld be like......... ummmmm tht guy is the most pathetic devil i hv literally ever seen..... if she ws drunk she might even b like ummm.... hw does it feel fr dom to be a sexier devil than u............... does it sting? jealous i bet....... n dom wld have to b like lana please.... im sry abt her.... u lk gd haha...... cushioning the blow. taking her hand n leading her away. n lana is jst tittering n murmurs in his ear like. he knew it ws true u cld see it in his eyes. he knew u lkd better than him.

hi hi going through your salt rewatch tag bc i love the hot takes. anyway long ask incoming sry in advance. idk if this has been answered already since the post is a bit old, but re: your comments on spyfall part 2 and gallifrey in the bubble universe. i'm pretty sure the idea in hell bent was that the dr and clara could get out was because 1) they were at the end of everything and the universe is dying so timespace is weaker and 2) the time lords don't really WANT either of them on gallifrey, especially clara who's already at this point a disruption in time, so they sort of do what time lords do and just flick away the problem. i agree w you tho that hell bent is kinda ambiguous here and tbh on rewatch i've just kinda chalked it up to "it needs to be that way to make the plot go brr" and the emotional core of the episode (12/clara's relationship and her death) is strong enough for me that that's enough. (which, tbh, is one of my big complaints about the ch*b era bc i can forgive a lot of handwaving plot bullshit in dr who as long as it doesn't take me out of the story and more importantly, if it's so the emotional core of the story and the character relationships can take precedence. we don't get time to invest in 13's character relationships so like. the only thing that's left are the plot holes) as for why the master isn't stuck on gallifrey, i'm pretty sure that's part of what "the doctor falls" was supposed to explain:

12: (to Simm!Master) The last time I saw you, you were on your way to Gallifrey. SIMM!MASTER: Well, I didn't stay. Why would I stay? 12: So they cured your little condition and kicked you out. SIMM!MASTER: It was a mutual kicking me out. the master has never gotten along w the time lords so tbh it makes sense to me that they wouldn't want him in their specially protected pocket universe on a wartorn gallifrey. anyway that's how he's in the dr falls and subsequently regenerates into missy? dhawan!master? the timeline would be clearer if not for the fact that dhawan!master seems to have no memory of being missy. anyway i agree with you that it's weird that gallifrey lost basically all of its pocket universe protection in 13's era. the implication i got in "the doctor falls" is that the master being able to leave gallifrey was pretty hard, and it was sort of necessary that the time lords kick him out as opposed to him just leaving on his own. if i want to be generous, i could say that simm!master's previous experience being on pocket universe gallifrey gave him the info necessary as dhawan!master to go back and blow it up, but idk if at this point i'm just grasping at straws.

and yes the gallifrey stuff does makes sense, thanks for reminding me! and haha yeah doctor who definitely does do a lot of plot go brr 😂 and yeah the gallifrey stuff does become background in hell bent which i agree with you the focus is more on 12 and clara. (and i definitely agree with you there’s no emotional anchor in this era to lean on when plot gets messy). i don’t know if moffat wanted to do anything more with gallifrey seeing as he made it such a big deal of bringing it back but that’s all past now.

yeah every showrunner seems to want to do radically different things with gallifrey which is frustrating as a viewer because imo it’s holds less and less meaning every time they change it and i end up just not caring about it all together.

and yeah your dhawan!master theory would make the most sense i could see that. and the whole missy thing is very confusing, because ch*bnall just point blank refuses to ever mentioned it, meaning fans have to fill in the blanks themselves (which obviously happens from time to time i admit). but it’s a shame because missy’s character arc was really interesting and fun and to act like it never happened at all is a weird one to say the least (i don’t have anything against the master going back to their ‘old ways’ but it uh definitely needed more than timeless child bs justification we got). it’s not like this was a terrible choice or had a blanket negative reception that ch*bnall decided we must do an U-turn on that immediately, rather it was actually quite popular within fandom, so who knows honestly.
