yellowfang genuinely believing that because brokenstar was "cursed" and that her (being manipulated into) giving him up...her loosing her daughters at birth...and that this meant she was incapable of birthing and raising a cat like firestar....ooooo...
then later projecting herself onto leafpool having the three...which, as old as their prophecy is, i would imagine causing some unrest in starclan....her children having a "pre-determined" destiny, being born against the same rules that brokenstar was...
both leaf and yellow and their similar powers...its all too much really
#rewrite tag#shummy screaming into the void#wc#just the fact that she was forced to give up her kids and being gaslighted into believing that she bought a cursed life into the world for#reason that she was foolish enough to go against the code and fall in love#with a shitty partner#in her eyes if she had just followed the code many lives couldve been saved#she is constantly reminded even in death of her sins#and now leafpool is in an extremely similar situation??? with a prophecy/omen that predates even yellowfangs life???#trauma resurfacing babey!!!#hollyleaf going haywire would only reinforce this in her eyes#we can also go with the angle that her manipulation of squilf leaf and jay was a direct result of her feeling the need to overcompensate fo#her own 'mistakes' and yadda yadda#i didnt even mention her potential relationship with goosefeather#aka the first chronological super powered cat in the series#not just clairvoyant i mean full on power overload

and per this news apparently,, Ivypool getting a whole ass super edition that takes place during the end of Starless Clan?? whats so important about her in particular in this arcs storyline otherwise??
im telling y'all squilf and brambles are so incredibly not long for this world
i suppose im a little more inclined to think Squirrel might not get killed immediately if Ivypool (judging by the SE title?) doesnt have a -star name by book 6. but girl still aint making it out of this arc alive
Thunder preview spoilers

idk man. idk. I'm still feeling Squilf is gonna bite it before becoming leader, tbh now i'm thinking she and Bramble might bite it together
feels like they are stalling for something to happen. feels like if the plan was for her to smoothly become leader she would have just. done it at the end of last book.
and that the next books preview still didn't mention it, like why are they being so cagey about this if she just becomes leader exactly like they planned, no problems? there's gotta be a Problem(tm) of SOME kind. maybe the Problem won't be dying, but dying would be easy and dramatic
Also, the fact that they had her make ivypool deputy before leaving, instead of waiting to announce it in an official normal ceremony after coming back?? it would make more sense to wait until she was sure she even could promote a deputy. has a future leader ever made their deputy announcement before getting their leader name?? (i honestly don't remember)
feels weird.
I get that there's all this set up for squilf being a conflict-causer with shadowclan, but it's not like they need squilf specifically to do that, i'm sure other cats can want to fight shadowclan. if thunderclan also suddenly has leader issues they could collectively start getting extra insecure about it. maybe they'd all want to fight shadowclan's idea even more to compensate
#ive seen a lot of people on twitter Very Passionately insisting that Squilf is Definitely going to become leader. which surprised me tbh#like w/e I dont know/understand the Erin Teams thought process so i mean. i wont be MAD if i'm wrong???#I just do not believe they are going to give Squilf a normal leader term this late in her life#I rly suspect starclan is going to come up with some contrivance for why she cant be given lives or something#OR I guess she could lose them all super fast al-la Ragged/Tigerstar#im foreseeing squilf and bramble dont make it home alive#some nonsense accident happens hence nightheart is prompted to flee with Frostpaw to go on whatever silly journey they are going on#and back in thunderclan no one wants to let ivypool be leader right away hence why she still doesnt have a -star name by book 6#bc something something 'we dont know if squirrelflight would have been accepted so how can we respect her decision bla bla bla'#thunderclan loves disrespecting squirrels authority for flimsy reasons#again I suppose the thing that gets in the way doesnt have to be death. But I do think Ivypool will be leader very v soon one way or anothe#a starless clan spoilers#warrior cats thunder spoilers#wc thunder spoilers#yarrow speaks

Given how Feathertail dies in this AU, I'm guessing Sharptooth the mountain lion is either a cop or a really violent war hawk in this?
Also, where does Sasha and her kits fit in?
(This is such a cool AU I love it so much)
yep, i think it makes more sense if sharptooth was a war hawk which allows fetaher to more realistically be the cause his of death after the fight they have (he dies suddenly that night due to the brain injury he sustained), while other “sharptooths” are cops and such.
sasha and her kits are tiger’s affair family. she was an aspiring actress that lost her home after her elderly father passed away, his estate being ripped out of her hands and thrusting her out onto the streets with very little to her name. tiger took a liking to her - unfortunately she would find out he was married and purposefully hid away their oldest son tad from him, but still kept in contact. golden and tiger never divorced but golden did disown her husband, and tiger went back to sasha. he had fallen hard for her and weasled his way into her good graces, meeting tad and getting her pregnant two more times. tad would end up drowning during flood season.
in the meantime, tawny would end up in her father’s care (he pulled some strings. she was always a daddy’s girl and turned her against goldenflower for a few months) and she would meet her younger half siblings. she and sasha did not get along well.
tawny would stay with them even after tiger got arrested for his crimes (murder, some other things) since she already got set up to attend a university close by. sasha was relieved when tawny moved out, but didn’t know what to do with her own two children and struggled a lot being a single mother. tiger was still stringing her along and making promises he likely wouldnt be able to fulfill and she was too lonely to leave.
eventually, she found solace in leopardstar and the two became good friends. leopardstar was like an aunt to moth and hawk. sasha’s depression wpuld get worse, though, and for the sake of her children she entrusted leopardstar to be their guardian from then on. sasha would disappear for a while to find herself and get away from tiger. she’s reappeared once every few years, but after a certain point they just stopped hearing from her entirely.
moth had felt abandoned by religion and her family, resenting them for leaving her this way and having 0 control over anything in her life. pushed into it by her brother, she put all her energy towards studying medicine and becoming an army nurse. she served for a few years before resigning and studying to become an emergency surgeon instead - a familiar high stakes environment without the danger of herself being killed. she chopped her hair short in the 70s after returning from her military service.
hawk meanwhile served in the vietnam war. he had been in the military since he was in his late teens, inspired by his father and leopardstar (who was one of many rosie riveters for WW2). he would meet ashfur from thunderclan and hear about his half brother brambleclaw through him (“you remind me of someone back home” ‘really?’) and mudclaw. hawk was lucky enough to return home, keeping in touch with tiger snd bumping into bramble, who came up to visit tawny and figured he’d show his face while he was here. the two got along pretty well after the initial shock, but eventually a rift was put between them when (i have yet to decide what about) and they stop talking, much to squilf’s relief.

Did Brambleclaw actually disown the Three when the secret is revealed? I don't remember this happening (then again, it's been a while) but it does bug me how all three go "Poor brambleclaw :(( He was such a good dad to us and he has to learn we're not even his biokits :(((( poor guy" while simultaneously shitting on Leafpool and Squirrelflight despite them showing them more care and affection before AND after the reveal. If he does disown them, then.... WOW is the double standard real here.
In-canon? It's something you have to approximate. They don't seem to have a concept of ""disowning"" because blood relation is taken as such an insurmountable, FUNDAMENTAL fact of life. He doesn't write them out of his little kitty will and testament, but his actions ARE disowning.
It's as if the fact he is not their biological father is an automatic disowning. From the reveal onwards, he is immediately cold, distant, and the "betrayal" is mentioned often. The Three also explicitly don't blame him for his behavior, like it's just to be expected that he's Not Their Dad anymore.
Lionblaze in particular stares longingly at him several times, really missing him. And like... that's kinda what gets my goat so much
I do believe Brambleclaw is entitled to his feelings of betrayal. I believe Squilf was ultimately in the right to lie, actually, but he's still allowed to be upset and angry that she didn't trust him enough to tell him something so important. THAT SAID, YOU ARE NEVER ENTITLED TO TREAT OTHERS POORLY.
And that's what GETS me. He isn't upset that it was all revealed in such a painful and embarassing way when this could have been avoided, or that his lover struggled with this lie for so long without him, or that he feels he's lost his children. Squilf points it out in The Last Hope-- He's so ANGRY at Squilf that he will THROW HIS FAMILY AWAY
Lionblaze seems desperate to be his son again. Hollyleaf is gone for months, and Brambleclaw is still huffing about the secret when she comes back from the dead. Squilf is fawning in the hopes it makes him talk to her again. Doesn't matter. Brambleclaw Is Upsetti Spaghetti so the narrative will never examine his role in hurting this family he apparently loved so much.
(Narrative seems to understand full well that when Squilf lies for a good reason, that doesn't invalidate the hurt Brambleclaw felt... but when Brambleclaw is upset for a good reason, it actually DOES validate what he put her and his kids through)
In BB it is explicitly a disowning. He cuts them off as his children, and they reciprocate. BB!Lionblaze does so in a ball of fury, vowing that he has ONLY a mother.
#It does start getting.... ''better'' after oots. On the disowning front#Lion seems to be fixing his relationship with him#Which... actually is something I dislike tbh#Can we pls get canon acknowledgement of the Little Pogchamp scene where he lets Ash beat his son#And downplays this to holly#Pls#Idk i just feel lion makes a better mama's boy#Really close to squilf and then like... tries to get close to Leafp too but it just. Cant click.#In this very sad but also kind of validating way#Leafp isnt his mom... she didn't raise him. But shes still his aunt. She still loves him as ferociously as she always did#The reveal changed nothing about his family. In the end.#It truly was just a reveal.#(And then he stares angrily and also forlornly at bramble)#Bramblestar is honestly a very interesting character if you choose to take him at face value#And wade through the writer favoritism#I keep coming back to him man.#Such an incredibly mundane and honest type of terrible#Always consumed by his pride and terrible lack of self esteem. Everyone wants you to be better. But you keep messing up#Your honor. I hate him. I have a picture of him in my heart shaped locket.#I am putting him in an exhibit. I am blasting him with a hose.

Currently starting the last book of PO3 ! :) The Three are heartbroken that they aren't actually related to any of their parents. They all mention that they miss being kittens and play-fighting innocently with their dad. I think it's really sweet that Brambleclaw was so involved in his kittens' life.
The narration of the books really does make me feel bad for Brambleclaw because he is also a "victim" of the lie (a lie that StarClan forced Squilf and Leafpool to create, mind you), like you have the Three constantly wondering if Brambleclaw is also lying, and if he isn't, they all feel incredibly guilty everytime he tries to care for them or compliment and encourage them because he doesn't even know "they aren't his kits" (as if adoption wasn't a thing and you don't have to be blood-related to someone to love them and create a parent-child bond, but that's classic Warriors for you I guess)
I fear reading the moment Hollyleaf will spill the beans because until now (in PO3) Brambleclaw has been a cool dad

i apologize if what i said in the tags was a bit. harsh? in terms of what the books actually said. because of course they wouldn't be completely on the nose like that. but this is what it says in the actual book and even if its not complaetely worded like how i worded it in the tags, its stil... yknow. sandstorm is pretty much saying "look how happy briarlight is she isnt disabled anymore in starclan! she's SO happy here!!!! you dont wanna come back to life and be disabled and SUFFER for the rest of ur life and live an UNHAPPY LIFE like briarlight did while she was still alive, right???"
and it was so bad the the authors promised to remove it in future reprints. but so far the line hasnt been removed as far as im aware and this happened back in august 2020... in an article on the website, the erins stated, "unfortunately, reprint corrections can be a slow process. this correction has been in the works since this line was brought to our attention, and will finally appear in the next reprinting." but so far, at least as far as im aware, the line was never removed. this was 3 years ago. it shouldnt take this long...
briarlight, the paralyzed cat, is also completely healed in starclan. not disabled anymore. starclan heals all wounds apparently, specifically scars and such. but i guess disabilities are... also healed... cinderpelt was healed of her broken leg, briarlight was healed of her paralyzed legs, and im sure when jayfeather dies he'll be cured of his blindness. he's already able to see when he has dreams from starclan or visits starclan at the moonpool so :/
(tw for ableism)
not to bring anything up on the blog but- i would VERY much argue that the way warriors portrays disabled life is not good. theres a handful of disabled cats, but the narrative and other characters treat them like theyre unwhole, like theyre pitiable, like they will never be worth it because of their disability. its rare that the books allow them to be warriors or even relevent to the story. none of it is portrayed well. i love warriors but: Briarlight is the only cat handled okay. Love her to bits, but even she is called unwhole by her own mother, and its. just. labelled as "shes just worried". sorry for bringing this up, its just very worrying to see people think that the disabled rep in warriors is good :(
I'm not a good judge of that since i haven't read the books so I'm just going to leave it for the more knowledgeable people to see
#it rly sucks bc i wish i could say like. oh the books never used to be like this#but cinderpelt's whole t hing litearlly happened in like. what. book 3? book 4? book 2 even???? i dont remember but my point is#it happened in series 1. when she broke her leg and everyone was like 'oh how pitiful. she'll never be a warrior. she has to retire!!!'#and she became a med cat and everyone was like 'oh thats so sad... she'll never live a FULFILLING life... she'll NEVER HAVE A HAPPY#LIFE with a MATE or KITS...'#and thats why she was reincarnated as. cinderheart. so she could 'have the life the always wanted but never got' bc of her leg#which is just so many levels of fucked up#but also in general squirrelflight's hope is such a fucked up and useless book...#90% of the book is just her enduring abuse from bramblestar. you cannot look me in the eyes and tell me hes not abusive in this book#its textbook abusive behavior. and its just. disgusting#the erins insist we sympathize with him at the end by making him be like 'im so sorry squirrelflight. WE are both in the wrong.#we BOTH made mistakes.' instead of him. yknow. actually taking the blame because he caused all the problems in this book#sparkpelt (squirrel and bramble's daughter) even basically says 'he's been treating you like shit for days and you're DEFENDING him?'#and yet the authors insist that bramble is a good guy and squilf is just mean!!! the authors insist they're in a loving happy healthy#relationship!!! the authors insist nothing is wrong even when one character in the newest arc litearlly says#'oh wow bramblestar and squirrelflight arent fighting for once. thats weird.'#and then when a fight between bramble and squilf breaks out they go 'ah yes. everythings back to normal now that theyre yelling :)'#like its fucked up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its so. eueughghghg#anyways rant over . i love this series to death but oh my god there are some really. um. really apparent issues

i think it'd be really cool if the Erins pulled a bristlefrost on moonpaw HEAR ME OUT okay so this is going to go along with the "ginger tabby is moonpaw's dead sibling" theory even if i don't 100% subscribe to it. BUT stay w/ me here the moonpool is threatened by twolegs, right? so, what if to save the moonpool, Moonpaw throws herself into the pool, which separates her from her sibling. her sibling is able to swim to the surface, but moonpaw drowns, thus taking her to StarClan it's already been shown StarClan can interact w/ the living world, like striking lighting and killing Mudclaw with a fucking tree, so what if Moonpaw goes to residents of StarClan, and convinces them to strike a tree into falling and blocking the twolegs path/crushing their equipment, thus saving the moonpool and her sibling meanwhile, is telling cats about this absurd plan and telling them to get the hell out of the way just in case it works. nobody wants to listen to them at first bc yk this tabby just appeared out of nowhere, but then Bay and Thift (sob) step forward like "Alderheart thought Thrift/I was pregnant with two, but she/I only gave birth to one." "yes mother and father it is i. your now dead daughter ate me in the womb" - something the Erins would do (see DOTC shenanigans) and they believe her because yeah, the Erins would do that. cats move out of the way, and BAM, the tree comes crashing down, saving the moonpool. maybe a leaf floats into the moonpool and the ginger sibling can see Moonpaw in the reflection, along with other ranks of StarClan, looking satisfied or something (this could possibly happen in the last book of changing skies)
since the ginger sibling was never really born, to celebrate, Bay and Thrift give them a warrior name. someone already had a kit named Sun- but we already have three -whisker names in ThunderClan throw a sun in there. "How do you like the name Sun?" "hell yeah" and Squilf gives them a warrior name because they've proven that they have what it takes or something. "From this day forward, you will be known as..." Name ideas: Sunsong - For being happy or something idk Suncloud - For rising through the clouds (coming back from the dead) like the sun Sunsky - Changing Skies? Hello?? The moon has sunk and in her place, the sun rose?? THE SKY LITERALLY CHANGING Sunwish - Tbh we just haven't really used this suffix a lot Sunflight - I just think it sounds neat... And they decide to give Moonpaw her warrior name too bc ofc she's worked hard throughout her apprenticeship and it all climatized in death + Bay and Thrift as loving doting parents get sad that the daughter they raised died Moonpeak - For PEAKING Moonstep - For walking among StarClan ig Moonshine - You're probably as tired as this suffix as I am, but maybe it's to always shine (like the moon) and guide the way Moonpuddle - A smaller version of the Moonpool. Kinda fucked though since she drowned Moonheart - The Erins LOVE the -heart suffix they'll find a way to shove it somewhere and obviously when i say "pull a bristlefrost" i don't mean to erase her as we know it, but yk, kill her. and her sibling comes back to life if we go along w/ this theory? a switcharoo?
OH, and I can't believe I nearly forgot, but the ginger tabby has kits and names the all-black kit after their sister because the Erins love their legacy names lately
#im going to use this for my au before the erins steal it#changing skies#changing skies spoilers#moonpaw#bonus points if the erins put on their big boy shoes and KILL SOME CATS#so Moonpaw will be acquainted with some StarClan members#think about how neat it'd be if it was shown the ginger tabby was adjusting to being alive#it's not fleshed out but it exists okay. i didn't think through this but yeah it exists and im throwing it into the world#this is top tier fuckery#I have a swearing problem but I just type things as I think them

i’ve been reading tbc and it really bothers me how often both squirrelflight and leafpool are dragged by all the clans, especially in regards to squirrel and imposter bramble.
multiple times throughout the books, she is publicly shamed by all the clans for not realising sooner that ashfur was taking over brambles body. how could she have not noticed sooner? she’s his mate, she should’ve known! she’s known him her whole life, yadda yadda. even lionblaze criticised her which irked me! and squilf already felt so guilty, she’s already suffered so much, and you’re shaming her?? die pls??
maybe she didn’t notice because she was actually receiving affection from her mate for once?? bramble was a terrible mate and a bad person (as reflected by the sisters) and maybe, just maybe, she was enjoying reciprocated love and displays of affection?? ash is a terrible guy, don’t get me wrong. squilf deserves A MILLION times better than the both of them (and his obsession with squilf really grosses me out, with how controlling he was with her and obsessive tendencies)
anyway squilf deserves the world and should dump stinky bramble

Ok I'm going to say this out loud because I can't include it in my rewrite because of the way I've butchered the family tree but
Squilf should have gotten with Rainwhisker.
Look, let me lay this out.
Sootfur dies during the badger attack and Squirrelflight is the one who has to break the news to Rainwhisker. He says he'll talk to Sorreltail about it, but he appreciates her trying to save his brother even though it was too late. He opens up a little about losing their mother to badgers as well, and thanks her for trying to help Sootfur, but knows it was too late for anyone to have done anything.
In the coming moons, Rainwhisker is plagued by thoughts of badgers. He had lost his mother and his brother to them. His sister was poisoned by someone who, if you consider the canon family tree, would have been their half brother, a person who later killed their father. Rainwhisker himself was attacked by an owl in his youth. It's easy to see how he could have become convinced that the world was against him.
Squirrelflight has been struggling, herself. Being batted between two toms who are both increasingly bad for her, not being able to help her sister, all of ThunderClan struggling to settle into their new home...Squirrelflight has learned that she thrives on helping others. And here's someone who she tried to help and failed, and now he's suffering for it. Tossing and turning in his sleep, scared of his own shadow, trying his hardest every day and still coming out worse for it.
They're both struggling, is what I'm saying. And they could find some comfort in each other. They're both good cats, if a little spunky. And having someone be nice to her after all the nonsense Brambleclaw and Ashfur have put her through could really help Squirrelflight. They don't have to collide fast. Just enough to consider each other as trustworthy.
They could be friends. Coworkers, at least.
They fill their days with service, trying to build a life after a tumultuous move. Everyone has lost. Everyone is struggling. They're no different, no more special than anyone. So they both, individually, put that aside. Everyone else seems to be doing the same. If nothing else, it gets her mind off her relationship issues.
And then Leafpool approaches Squirrelflight. Leafpool is pregnant. She doesn't have to say who, Squirrelflight knows. But this is bad. Even after the messiness, no one would understand like Squirrelflight does. It was a brief moment of insecurity that is now having consequences. Leafpool is scared.
All Squirrelflight wants to do is help. But she can't take the kits without a father. She's seen how Daisy and her kits are treated. These kits deserve a normal life, free from the judging gaze of their peers. A good, loving family. Squirrelflight can give them that. But they need to be ThunderClan.
Leafpool insists; it can't be Brambleclaw. She has her own reasons, and Squirrelflight isn't sure she agrees with those reasons, but she'll agree to the stipulation. It's the one demand Leafpool makes. And Squirrelflight knows her sister. She knows how scared she is. She wouldn't even dare ask if it wasn't important enough. If the choice is Brambleclaw or the nightmare that comes with revealing the truth, she'd rather take the latter. And that alone is enough for Squirrelflight to agree to it.
But she doesn't think she can trust Ashfur, either. Not after what he did. Not after Hawkfrost.
Someone she can trust. Someone who understands the struggle of wanting to do anything to help your sibling, and not being able to do enough.
Her mind goes to him.
And so she asks. Carefully, as to not reveal the game. But she asks how he would feel about something like that. If she needed a favor, would he help? If she needed a fall guy, would he do it?
He's a little scared. He won't give a clear answer. There's something big she's not telling him.
But he promises that she can trust him. He just needs to know.
Her words are his secret. He'll take it to his grave. But he can't promise more if he doesn't know the promise he's making.
And so she tells him. In a moment of weakness, she tells him.
Leafpool, Crowfeather, the kits, everything. She feels vile telling this secret to anyone. But he listens, and he takes it. He takes it all to heart.
And it excites him, honestly.
The idea of being a father. Of having someone else to love. He's lost all but one of his favorite people. There's nothing he'd love more than being a dad, honestly. And he'd protect them, and he'd love them, and he would take every burden he could off her shoulders, if nothing more than for the love of being the father he never truly had.
He wants to do this.
And that's the thing that gets her the most. It's no longer that she's asking him to do this, to make a sacrifice for her and her sister. Now, he's begging her to let him love these little things he's never met, who haven't even been born.
And it's done.
And something happens to him. This idealized life he has in his head becomes his reality. He spends time with her, every day, talking and doting and being so excited about this. She knows it's because she's the only one he can talk to about this. But it's a good show. Whispers start to pop up. Natural whispers.
She's not even the one who's pregnant, but the show fits the narrative so well that no one questions it. Save two. But he becomes a different cat when they're involved. He stands up to Brambleclaw, taking the heat for her. He upstages Ashfur, showing her genuine kindness detached from romance.
And when the time comes, he goes with them. Sees the faces of his kits on day one as they wiggle at Leafpool's belly. It's unconventional, but it's his.
It's no small miracle that one of them is the same cloudy gray that Sootfur was. Another the same dark shade that Darkstripe was, and her and the third, a little golden kit, both have the fur that he does, the kind that squares the face and broadens the shoulders.
They're perfect.
When the six return to camp, Rainwhisker keeps his word. He loves them like his own, and no one questions a thing. Sorreltail coos that Hollykit looks so much like him, reminding them of their mother.
And Jaykit has his eyes.
And when the others whisper about those eyes, call him broken, Rainwhisker is quick to shut the whispers down. He doesn't let the words linger.
When Jaykit begins to echo them, he reassures his little warrior. No one, not even Jaykit himself, will say those words to his son.
Their relationship is just a show, Squirrelflight is painfully aware. But day by day, she starts to see him. Past the pain and misery and loss is a cat whose life has been in the name of love. And he's strong, and sweet, and he does everything for others. Wouldn't let her suffer a day in her life if he had the choice.
It's starting to feel less like a show.
And when Jaypaw is apprenticed to Brightheart, Squirrelflight knows he's right to be insulted. Firestar sees them both differently.
But not Rainwhisker. And he's quick to say as much. Telling Jaypaw he knows Brightheart is a good mentor. A fantastic hunter, a thorough thinker, and a kind soul.
She and Cloudtail had trained him, after all. It's only fitting for his son to be her apprentice, too.
It makes Jaypaw feel better, even just a little. Like he's not as broken as the others say. Rainwhisker sees past all that.
He has a way with words. An honest way. A good heart, a warm smile. It's not just pretty words he says. He's so genuine in what he says.
Squirrelflight starts to wonder if those pretty words he tells her are more true than she believed.
She feels lucky to have had him in her life.
She wonders if it's too late to ask him to stand beside her.

i saw ur nightheart posts and i noticed u hate him quite a lot and im curious for the reasons why! i hope it doesnt sound rude! its a genuine question out of curiousity not an attempt for you to justify ur opinion, personally im aloof when it comes to nightheart i think hes just an edgelord tbh
nah you're not rude dw i get it. tbh i don't hate HIM as a character, i mean he's kinda annoying but whatever. instead i hate everything about him as a written extension of the authors and their views. nightheart isn't real, and doesn't have opinions but they authors do and they speak thru him to a young and volatile audience that might not know better. (which is also why i don't buy the "unreliable narrator" thing)
they twist the female characters around him to fit their narrative of "poor misunderstood sadboy" surrounded by "cruel mean women". squirrelflight, sparkpelt and even finchlight already had personalities, squirrelflight especially is known for bending rules for what she views as "the right thing", so why would she turn around and scream at him for wanting to change his name? why would finchlight, in one book, support his name change and stick up for him, only for in the next book to completely turn around and call him disrespectful and selfish. they needed to create more drama for him. before his warrior ceremony, he pulls off dangerous stunts trying to show off during his test, and it ends up blowing up in his face and fails, and he doesn't see this as HIS failing, he blames squirrelflight and his mentor for "expecting more of him because he's related to firestar" which??? and for that plot point to be given to him instead of his mother sparkpelt who is multiple times described as the spitting image of firestar? but she's like, totally fine with it. she's never given anything to do ever until she becomes a mother, (except disagree with alderheart like once and be the "rude misunderstanding woman" for his story too.)
and speaking of mothers... sparkpelt lost her mate as she gave birth, two heavily traumatizing things happening simultaneously. she had post-partum depression for a while, which is a serious and debilitating illness that KILLS people. yet she was still able to feed the kits, she didn't abandon them. they had plenty of attention from their family and from the other nursery cats. they were never once neglected. she was only out of commission for about a month before squirrelflight helped her back on her feet but that doesn't matter, because for the narrative, (and by the fandom) she is treated like a horrible abusive mother who neglected her kids on purpose. which. first of all crookedstar couldn't even LOOK at his daughter for the first week of her life and he is heralded as nothing but a loving father. second, nightheart goes on and on about how she left him and how she is hardly his mother because (lilyheart? i dont remember) one of the other queens helped raise them for the first month. the erins tie the worth of their female characters to how good of a mother they are, and any deviations from the nuclear family with a working husband and a housewife are automatically bad in their eyes,( yet they killed off ferncloud because she was "too annoying" for being a loving nursery mom.) (also think about how anti-adoption they are. the second the po3 secret was out, suddenly brambleclaw and squilf were never their parents despite literally raising them) they are horribly misogynistic, and their female characters are just pawns for either manpain or to be baby machines. this doesn't even begin to touch on how boy crazy the female protags have been lately, bristlefrost was interesting at first but eventually just turned into a wife for rootspring and then fridged for manpain, and sunbeam suddenly deciding shes in love with nightheart even though he stalked her and creeped her out???
adding on to this point, during ashfur's takeover, sparkpelt is EXILED from thunderclan (after being mauled by dogs, and by who she believes to be her father btw) she BEGS imposterstar to let her stay because of her family but he refuses. finchpaw chooses to go with her mother but flamepaw stays behind. then in his POV parts, he goes on and on about how she walked out on him!
again, nightheart the character: not real. he's a puppet for the authors to speak their misogynistic rhetoric. i would LOVE if he was just kinda a whiny emo dirtbag, or an actual unreliable narrator and whenever he complained everyone around him rolled their eyes and was like "ok nightheart" . remember that scene in meet the robinsons where bowler hat guy is telling his tragic backstory and he's talking about ppl at school and his narration says "they alll HATED me" while everyone in the scene was like "hi goob cool binder!" or "hey wanna come hang out with me later?" THAT'S (hilarious) but also what an unreliable narrator is. if that was nightheart it would be so funny. but instead, he HAS to be right, he HAS to be mistreated by all these mean horrible women. sorry for ranting, i promise im not mad at you.

Your taste in fics seems amazing. For the life of me I can't find any star trek fanfictions. Care to share some of your favorites? I would love to hear it :3
heck yeah! sure!
I always save the ones I really like right after I read them, but I can't seem to find the DaForge one I was talking about.
The descriptions I will put after the recs are how I described them to remind myself what they were about (I don't think they help though, because I can't remember them that well,,,) Either way, I'm sure the actual description of the fics are better than the ones I put !!
Data/Geordi:
Flowers- by astraa (hauntedpunk) General data is trying to understand his emotions, he grows flowers and he talks to spot
no emotion that's worth having- orcamermaid Teen and Up data is trying to understand his emotions and how love works. geordi is helping (REALLY CUTE)
every dream i have is sweeter- orcamermaid General, Community (TV) crossover TROY AND ABED GEORDI AND DATA AU???? WHAT! ITS SO CUTE SO GOOD HKJDSAHGDSKJGHDSKJ THEMMMMM
Expectation- justabrain General geordi and data's relationship seen by outsiders, very cute, wedding at the end
all the everything that ever was- squilf Teen and Up picard and Q are soulmates, riker was told not to tell anyone about it (he failed) data and la forge are soulmates too !!! in the background but its still there
Garak/Bashir:
pouring just a hint- susiecarter Teen and Up garak always drinks from bashir's cup before giving it to him, and bashir assumed it was just a quirk of his, but it is actually a cardassian sign of love and trust :)
The 50/50 Consensus- TheoMiller General julian notices that garak is lonlier and stuff is too bright for him so that all gets changed :)
Designs and Alterations- AuroraNova, ConceptaDecency Teen and Up garak has been giving julian coupons, it took a while for him to realize that no one else has been getting them
Balloon Buddies- almaasi General garak and bashir get turned into animals, very silly
The Cupid Computer- almaasi Teen and Up bashir is feeling lonely, so he took a quiz that takes up personal information to show you who your best match/soulmate is
Tell Me You Love Me (Or Tell Me a Lie)- almaasi Teen and Up garak gets a message that he's due to be sent home, (to die, literally or symolically) so he tells jullian his deepest secrets as tradition
Quark/Odo:
your accent mixing with mine- spacebubble Teen and Up the universal language translator is down, odo realizes that quark has his accent when pronouncing words. they kiss
More Forsaken Than Usual- NervousAsexual General instead of being stuck in the elevator with lwaxana troi, odo is stuck with quark
Breathe- Paratale General odo is upset, quark helps him learn how to cry
play it again- nepetrel Teen and Up ((this one is better without knowing the twist, but this involves time travel and kissing :) ))
Conflicts with Interest- katiemariie Teen and Up quark and odo bicker. they're in an established relationship, im putting this here because i really like the fluidity they gave to odo
put down your sword and crown- spacebubble Teen and Up quark is drunk so odo tries to figure out why
Spock/Kirk:
Ten Things I (Love) About You- ItinerantAvthor General this is based on a merther fic of the same premise. spock accidently finds a list that kirk made about him, but there is a space torn out of the top. "10 things i ___e about spock". spock thinks that the logical conclusion is that the word is 'hate'. he proceeds to try his best to not do any of the things listed :) this is the fic that got me into star trek, actually
The prominence of a simple word- Exploding_Space General kirk just keeps calling spock 'sweetheart'
Science Blues- museaway Teen and Up mccoy and spock body swap on accident. they don't tell kirk.
Textual Beginnings- iknewaman Teen and Up wrong number fic!!! Academy era!! kirk finds spock's number on the bathroom wall and decides to text it, its really cute
Of Coffee Beans and Green Tea Leaves- Se7en_devils Teen and Up spock goes to a cafe that kirk works at, kirk keeps flirting with him and using words of different dialects to do it because he learned that spock is a language professor. very adorable
Letters From Across the Universe- Starlighter_Varda General spock and kirk are pen pals from across the universe. temporary character death (sorta) cried over this, very good. there's a cat named leonard, love him
Something Smart to Do- kianspo Mature (i don't remember what's mature about it. i don't think it was anything bad, if it was, i wouldn't have saved it, or i would've made a note of it) all of the times kirk and spock are 'married' for a mission. very adorable
Miscommunication- sinestrated Teen and Up kirk gets his brain all goofed up, making him call people by whatever nickname he thinks of them by. he tries to avoid spock, knowing full well the word was going to be something sweet (it was)
Pirates, Spies, and Bedtime Stories- lallyloo General spock and kirk get into a transporter accident that turns them 5 years old. mccoy takes care of them
ok i think that's all of the ones I have written down!! (for now) i hope this helps!! :) they're all ship fics because i honestly find star trek kind of boring if you don't watch it for them,,,
#fic recs#star trek fic recs#star trek#reading list#most of these are the most popular fics of that ship- but now they're approved by me which makes them autmatically better#/j
