*manga spoilers*
With all these kissing hints, itâs pretty clear Endo is not shying away from a twiyor kiss, and I think itâs going to happen sooner rather than later! Iâve been hating on him a lot lately (for the pacing, lack of plot progression, and lack of Yor lol) but I so appreciate that heâs not afraid of the romance portion of his story, itâs an important part of it! Me personally, I would like a liiiitle more acknowledgment of feelings between Loid and Yor and maybe another sweet moment before a big kiss. Something like the park bench scene or hand holding or a hug, something intimate where theyâre being real and honest with each other. That way Yor gets more comfortable and curious about intimacy, and we will know for sure itâs on Loidâs mind too, not just the mission. But I seriously think romance is coming soon, or at least, I hope lol. If so, Iâll be Endoâs biggest fan I swear lol â¤ď¸â¤ď¸
A twiyor kiss could literally mean world peace for the in-story world! Think about it, a westalian spy and an ostanian assassin coming together to take down bad guys and make out. The world is saved!
And actually, maybe our world too. When the kiss happens, we should nominate Endo for a Nobel Peace Prize.

megumi fushiguro x fem-reader
p.1 â ( â¸â¸ęŠ áŻ
ęŠâ¸â¸;) p.2
AN: this is still being edited and I'm not entirely sure if it'll be everyone's cup of tea. it'll be a slow burn, and a long fic but I have an idea laid out! each chapter will be around 3k just to keep things spaced and easy. Thank you for reading!
warnings: i'm putting these here for future chapters too, and ill sprinkle some in as I go. I want to make it clear, there is no underage sex, but later on there will be some more raunchy shit. this is somewhat non-canon compliant-make it up as I go
-ok for the real warnings: yandere, obsessive behavior, possessiveness, mommy kinks, mommy issues, arranged marriages, forced marriages, angst, eventual smut, clan politics, age gap (5 years from meg, and a little over 10 with toji), toji aint the best dad, mentions of child abuse, slowww build. I'm already 20,000 words into this shit so if your ready lets ride.
Short summary: Your arranged marriage to Toji Fushiguro had been sudden and unexpected, but now you found yourself living under his roof alongside his moody stepson. Your only directive from your clan head before moving in was clear: keep a close eye on Toji, the notorious Sorcerer Killer, and his son, a potential sorcerer prodigy.
Lets Begin

Your arranged marriage with Toji Fushiguro had been quick and unexpected.
The black sheep of the Zenin clan wasnât exactly known for his well-rounded reputation, teetering on the edge of severing all ties to his family at any given moment.
He hadnât been in contact with them for years, and financial support on their end was nonexistent. He was constantly broke, especially after Megumi was born. He assumed it was retaliation for marrying outside the clanâwithout their approval. But when his late wife passed, he had already taken on her surname, somewhat severing himself from the dingey clan he had once called "family."
After her death, he picked up side gigs, earning just enough to provide for the two of them. Megumi was older now, around thirteen, which made it easier to leave him alone for longer periods. Toji often took days-long "business" trips.
Heâll admit he wasnât a great father, but he had kept his promise of keeping Megumi away from the Zenin clan and that sorcerer bullshit.
That was until he received an official notification from the Zenin clan head.
He hadnât heard from the bastard in years, only to be met with a requestâa demandâfor his compliance in an arranged marriage. Initially, he planned to refuse. He wasnât interested in an arranged marriage, wanted nothing to do with the sorcerer world, and even less to do with the Zenin clan. Hell, the only reason he bothered showing up at the clan house that day was to set that fucker straight.
Then he saw youâa pretty little thing. You couldnât have been more than ten years younger than him, likely just turning seventeen, maybe eighteen. He couldnât say for sure. But you were just too young for this shitâhe knew that much.
Theyâd already brought you along for the proposal, as if they knew it would change his mind when he saw you. And, fuck, if they werenât right.
You were beautiful. Polished and respectable. Speaking in low tones like the proper little housewife he was sure theyâd trained you to be. He could see the endgame hereâthe reasoning behind pushing this arrangement on him. It wasnât subtle.
The higher-ups likely wanted a presence in his homeâsomeone to keep tabs on him and Megumi, no doubt. They hadnât explicitly stated as much, but Toji had caught whispers through the grapevine about their interest in his sonâs cursed technique. And with his own tendency to remain elusive, (and with all the whispers of him being titled a Sorcerer Killer) it wasnât surprising that theyâd want to keep a closer watch on him, too.
The thought of them using someone barely older than Megumi to achieve their goals left a bitter taste in his mouth. The arrangement reeked of manipulationâa calculated ploy to plant a spy in his home, someone to funnel information back to your clan, his clan, and the higher-ups.
Toji didnât give a rats ass about his reputation, but it was clear they were fishing for confirmation. Likely hoping to uncover all of the unconfirmed truths. No matter how much he tried to brush it off, the whole setup just didnât sit right with him.
But when he caught the way your eyes stayed steady, unwavering. You looked nearly indifferent to the situation, but he could tell this wasnât what you wanted. It couldnât be. You were really just a child. And yet, that dead expression of yours sealed the deal.
He accepted.
Another mouth to feed, another brat to deal with, no doubt. But maybe, just maybe, youâd be able to help keep Megumi in line while he was out working. Better that than leaving you to the wolves. He understood the clan system all too wellâhow they saw their women, how they treated them.
Heâd seen how young brides were shuffled like pawns, in a game of chess. Paired with whichever man could best serve the clanâs interests. The thought of you being handed off to another pathetic bastard made his stomach churn. At least here, under his roof, you wouldnât have to endure that.
Call it generosity if you wanted. But if he were honest, it wasnât that. You reminded him of his late wifeâthe fearlessness bordering on defiance in your eyes. The sheer willpower it mustâve taken to show up in the first place. Most girls in your situation would have cried or begged, pleading not to marry some old geezer, especially one as infamous in the community.
But you didnât beg. Didnât cry. You just stood there, composed, unshaken. Bored. You couldâve been out shopping for groceries.
He could respect that.
And like that, the black sheep of the Zenin clan would become your husband. Your family. And your sole protector.Â
He remembers the quiet way you stepped into his apartment for the first time, your gaze sweeping the room with a calm, measured air. There was no hesitation, no uneaseâjust a quiet assessment of the space, as though you were cataloging everything in that sharp mind of yours.
The look on your face didnât match someone your age. You carried the weight of forced maturity, a burden that stirred old painful memories he immediately shoved back down.
He could tell you were judging, though you didnât say anything out loud. It was in the faint crease of your brow, the almost imperceptible way your lips tightened. It sparked a flicker of irritation in him, the kind he couldnât entirely shake. If you didnât like it, you didnât have to stay, yeah?Â
But, color him surprised, you didnât say a word. Youâd easily found your way to his bedroom, setting your things down, navigating the house easily. Then, as if youâd been living there for years, you got straight to work.
No requests, no questionsâjust quiet purpose.
It was like youâd already claimed your space, like youâd accepted the role handed to you without a second thought. He wasn't necessarily gonna ask you to do all that, but hell he sure as hell wasn't going to complain.Â
Your former clan had trained you well. He could see it in the efficiency of your movements, the way you moved through the apartment as though it were second nature. No questions asked, no instructions, no unnecessary chatter. Just straight down to business.
Toji didnât linger.
He slipped out quietly, already lost in his thoughts about the job he had to handle. Heâd be gone for two daysâmaybe one, if he played his cards right. Not that he needed to tell you. You didnât need to know the details. You were here to stay put, to take care of things while he was gone. Simple as that.
As he rounded the corner outside the apartment, that nagging feeling crept inâa vague itch at the back of his mind, like he was forgetting something.
He paused mid-step, frowning as he patted his pockets. Wallet? Keys? No, he had those.
His smirk faltered for a moment, but he quickly shrugged it off, muttering under his breath, "Can't be that important."
Megumi had taken the long way home today.
Several boys in his class had been pissing him off to no end, and heâd been itching to punch something. He needed a distractionâsomething to cool him off. He really couldnât afford to get into another fight. The pitying looks his teachers gave him felt degrading, especially when Toji never bothered to show to pick him up.
The long way home was scenic, at least. Trees and plants lined the path, offering some peace as he trudged along. He wasnât sure whether Toji would even be home when he arrived. He never really knew for certain.
And honestly, Megumi wasnât in the mood to hear his dadâs loud TV shows or his obnoxious phone calls. If he wasnât, then the apartment would just be empty, cold, and silent.
Either way, it didnât matter.
What Megumi really cared about was dinner.
The fridge had been empty for weeks, and his deadbeat dad hadnât bothered to restock it. Megumi had been scraping by, finding ways to earn enough cash for food. Sometimes heâd deliver things for the neighbors or help them with spring cleaning. Those odd jobs usually kept him going, but lately, there hadnât been any requests. The lack of work only adding to his frustration.
He didnât interact with Toji much. Their relationship walked a thin line between hatred and indifference. Â Most of the time, Megumi ignored his father, as much as Toji seemed to ignore him. On the rare occasions Toji remembered Megumi existed, it always ended in chaosâloud arguments, dismissive grunts, relentless teasing, or worse, painfully awkward attempts to act like a parent.
It had been that way ever since Megumi turned eleven. And today, more than anything, he was just hungry. Too hungry to fight with his absentee father, even if he was home. Too tired to care.
Walking up the stairs to his apartment, something caught his eye. The kitchen window was open. That stopped him in his tracks.
Toji wasnât the kind of guy to leave windows open, even in decent weatherâa weird thing to notice, but Megumi was always acutely aware of his surroundings, always attuned to his fatherâs patterns.
Megumi made his way inside, creeping slowly and so, so quietly. Peeking around the corner, he froze.
Someone was in the kitchenâa girl. No, a woman?
Your back was to him as you worked at the counter, slicing onions with quick, precise movements. He blinked, his sharp eyes narrowing. You were youngâmaybe just a few years older than him.
Younger than Tojiâs usual type, that was for sure. You didnât fit. Toji wasnât a stranger to bringing women around the apartment, but they never looked like you. And they never lingered. Most were gone by breakfast, hurrying out with an awkward smile and a strained âbyeâ when they spotted Megumi at the table.
He watched you chop onions, noticing the glint of a ring on your finger. So, you were marriedâ
âYou can come out from there, yâknow.â
Megumi flinched slightly, caught off guard. For a brief moment, he felt the sting of embarrassmentâspying and getting caught really wasnât a good lookâbut he quickly reminded himself this was his home.
He had no reason to feel embarrassed. Straightening his posture, he stepped out from behind the doorway, his sharp eyes fixed on you as you casually wiped your hands on a towel.
You turned to face him, a soft smile playing on your lips. The first thing he noticed was how pretty you were.
Tall and poised, you stood at least a head above him, dressed in modest, traditional clothing that seemed entirely out of place in this shabby apartment. There was something elegant about you, a kind of refinement that felt worlds away from the usual sleaziness of his fatherâs one-night stands.
âWho are you? Whyâre you here?â His tone came out sharper than he intended. Unintentionally huffy and childish, and it made him pause a second.
You studied him for a moment, and for some reason his scowl almost endearing. You introduce yourself and explain, simply, that you lived here.
Megumiâs brow furrowed, and he crossed his arms, his voice ever defiant, no doubt pushed from the shitty day he just had. âYou donât live here. Leave.â
The attempt at a threat wouldâve been more intimidating if his stomach hadnât chosen that moment to growl, easily breaking the tension. You bit back a laugh, quickly covering your mouth, but it was hard not to find the situation amusing.
The way he stood there, furrowed brow and stubborn glare, reminded you of a fussy kittenâall bristling fur and misplaced bravado. It was clear he wasnât used to strangers lingering in his space, and his defensiveness only made him seem all the more adorable. Still, he was being seriousâyou really shouldnât laugh.
He looked so much like Tojiâsame sharp features, same brooding energyâminus the flat hair and scar. Youâd heard about him before coming here, mentioned briefly by your clan head, but the reality of meeting him was something different. He was much cuter than youâd expected, truly embodying the âfussy kittyâ vibe, and you had to resist the urge to tease him outright.
âAh,â lightly, your tone as soothing as you could make it without giggling, âbut Iâm in the middle of cooking. Why donât we eat first, and then we can talk?â
Your tone was gentle, your smile genuine, and Megumi couldnât sense any malice from you. Besides, whatever you were making smelled incredible, and his stomach had been growling from the moment he walked in.
His gaze shifted to the counter, where ingredients and half-prepped dishes were laid out. He hesitated. Sure, his dad had brought women home before, but none of them ever bothered to cookâespecially not for him. Against his better judgment, he gave a small, reluctant nod.
And before long, the two of you were sitting at the kitchen table, three plates set neatly in front of you. It was late, but you still held onto the idea that Toji might come home. You made light conversation with Megumi, trying to get a feel for the boy you now understood to be your stepson.
Youâd been briefed by your clan about Toji and his sonâvague instructions to âwatch Tojiâ and âget on his son's good side.â They hadnât been specific about why, but their motives were never selfless. Still, you had no intention of playing those games. Not fully.
What you wanted was to build an honest connection with your new family, especially with this grumpy, sharp-eyed boy who seemed to have a chip on his shoulder as big as his fatherâs. Itâs the first time youâd really been away from the clan estate, so this was just really nice.
As the meal went on, you began to learn little things about him. He remained distant, of course, his responses clipped and matter-of-factâbut the warmth of a good meal and your gentle smile seemed to soften him, if just slightly. You managed to coax his name out of him, and though he said it without much fanfare, it felt like a small victory.
It wasnât much, but it was a start.
It was a Friday night, and you figured Megumi would be around the house tomorrow. As you finished the surprisingly comfortable dinner, your eyes lingered on the third, untouched plate at the tableâTojiâs. You wondered, briefly, if heâd show up at all.
âHe probably wonât be back tonight,â Megumi said, breaking your train of thought. His voice was matter-of-fact, as if he had long since grown used to this routine. He shoveled another spoonful of food into his mouth before adding, âProbably be gone for a few days.â
This surprised you, sure, but you werenât going to complain anytime soon. As long as you didnât have to go back to that horrid clan house, you could put up with a missing husband. In fact, you kind of preferred it this way.
You laughed softly at Megumiâs puffed-up cheeks, causing his ears to dust red as he swallowed quickly. Your constant smiles still seemed to throw him off guard.
The conversation flowed easilyâa mix of lighthearted bickering and probing questions on both ends. Megumi was really curious about the random woman that showed up in his home.
âWhatâs the ring for?â he asked suddenly, his sharp gaze flicking to your hand. His tone was casual, but there was an underlying curiosity, as if he hadnât noticed the simple band until now.
Your fingers instinctively twisted the warm metal as you glanced down at it, the question catching you off guard.
âAh, well, Iâve just married,â you replied softly, your voice carrying a faint melancholy despite your attempt to sound neutral. Your eyes zone out as you stare at the heavy band.
âItâs still newâŚAn arrangement by my family.â You hadnât meant to let that slip, but the truth clung to the edges of your words. Quickly, you smiled, avoiding a damper on the evening. You quickly reached over to ladle another spoonful of food onto Megumiâs empty plate.
âArranged marriage? With who?â he asked, the concept not foreign but undeniably unsettling. You seemed like such a nice person, except for the fact that you were sitting in his kitchenâsomeone heâd assumed was just another one of his fatherâs passing flings.
But unlike the others, youâd cooked for him and his father, cleaned the kitchen till it looked better than it had in weeks. And now you were sitting down to dinner with him, as if you had nothing else youâd rather be doing.
Though heâd only known you for a few hours, he didnât think youâd be the type to cheat on your husband or worm your way into their lives without cause. Maybe that was just his full stomach talking.
His mind caught up to him, the pieces falling into place.
ââŚNotâŚToji. Right?â His voice faltered, and you couldnât help but think how strange it was to hear him refer to his father by his first name.
You let out a soft laugh at his shocked expression, restraining yourself from patting his head, before nodding your own. âThe one and only,â
The look on his face was comicalâbrows raised high, his mouth slightly agape. But beneath the initial surprise, there was something darkerâan unease that settled into the lines of his frown. Wary, guarded. He didnât like this, not one bit.Â
After dinner, you sent Megumi off to bed, tidying up the plates left behind. He didnât wait for you to finish cleaning, retreating to his room with his thoughts spinning.
As he lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling, he couldnât stop replaying the conversation in his head. His father was marriedâto you, of all people. Supposedly. And for some reason, that knowledge left a bitter taste in his mouth.
It was weird. Megumi had left the house empty and returned to find you. If what you were saying was true, you were about to take over as his stepmother. He wouldnât put it past his shitty father to pop up suddenly marriedâit was exactly the kind of thing Toji would do.
Still, the whole situation didnât sit right with him. An arranged marriage wasnât out of the question. You seemed way too sweet and proper to have chosen someone like Toji, willingly. Megumiâs knowledge of clan life, hierarchy, or how arranged marriages worked in the sorcerer world, was frustratingly limited thanks to his fatherâs insistence on keeping him far removed from all of it.Â
Then there was your age. You were youngâtoo young for his dad. Closer to his age than Tojiâs. Was Toji an even bigger pervert than he originally thought? He didnât seem like the kind of guy to settle down. What was this about, then? Did he just want a housemaid? Someone to clean up after him and Megumi while he went off on his âbusiness tripsâ?
It didnât seem fair to you. What were you getting out of this arrangement? You did say your family set it upâŚbut what could have possibly led you to agree to marry someone like Toji?
The more Megumi thought about it, the more wrong it all felt. You seemed too kind, too proper, too... normal for this situation. Surely there was more to the story. Were you being forced into this? Did you have your own reasons that you werenât sharing?
But then again, there was always the chance you were lying.
People lied all the time. You could be some psycho ex-girlfriend worming your way back into his fatherâs life. Or worse, a manipulative stranger with motives that had nothing to do with Toji at all. Maybe youâd rob the place blind, and by the time he woke up thereâd be nothing left.
You mightâve seemed nice now, but Megumi wasnât about to take anything at face value.
He sat on the edge of his bed, staring at the wall, his thoughts racing. He didnât know what to make of you, couldnât figure out whether to trust the calm sincerity you projected or to see it for what it might be: a well-crafted facade.
One thing was certainâhe wasnât going to let his guard down so easily.
Heâd just have to wait it out, keep an eye on you, and see what happened when Toji finally dragged his ass back home.

Japanese Linguistic Observations in Spy x Family - part 5
Part 5 - Translating humor and wordplay
Translating jokes from one language to another can be difficult, especially when the humor revolves around wordplay that's only apparent in the original language. Luckily for a comedy series like SxF, most of the humor relies on concepts that are universal to all languages, but there are the occasional jokes that require creative translation in order to get the same effect in English. What I think is the most well-known example of this kind of joke in SxF is from chapter 26, where Yuri tells Anya that "knowledge is power" during their tutoring session.

The Japanese phrase for this is çĽăŻĺ ("chi wa chikara"). Anya mishears this as ăĄăăă˘ăă ("chiwawa jikara"), which means "chihuahua power," which is why we see the image of a muscular chihuahua in her thoughts. This results in Yuri calling her ăăŻăŻĺ¨ ("chihuahua girl") from then on. Obviously this joke would be lost if translated directly, so Casey Loe, the official English translator for the SxF manga, got creative with making it work in English. He cleverly utilizes the English expression, "the whole enchilada," which sounds enough like "swole chihuahua" for Anya to believably mistake the two. This translation also makes it so that Yuri calling Anya "chihuahua girl" later on makes sense.

But unfortunately, because a series can have different companies working on the localization of its anime versus its manga, inconsistencies between the two often come up. In this case, the anime team translated this joke completely differently, and less effectively in my opinion. You can see from the below screenshots that they had Yuri use the word "unleash," which then led to Anya associating a (muscular) dog without a leash as powerful (?) Again, this translation was a stretch in my opinion and not as good as the manga version. This also makes it so that translating Yuri's nickname for Anya as "chihuahua girl" won't make sense.
But what's interesting is that, many months and episodes later in season 2, they stayed consistent with that translation and had Yuri call Anya "stupid leash girl" in episode 28.
Despite my dislike for this translation, I have to give them kudos for remembering it all that time later and not just directly translating it as "chihuahua girl." Though it makes me wonder if they'll stay consistent in season 3 where Yuri will be referring to Anya as "chihuahua girl" once again.
A further complication is that, not only do these kinds of inconsistencies exist between the anime and manga translations, but they also exist between the different streaming services that stream SxF with English subtitles throughout the world. I only have access to the subtitled version from Hulu, which is where my screenshots are from, and I think other streaming services in the US like Crunchyroll, Amazon, Netflix, etc, use the exact same subtitles. So when I refer to "the Hulu subtitles" throughout this post, I mean other major US streaming services too. However, I'm not totally sure if they all do share the same subtitle script, so if anyone who has these services could confirm, that would be great! However, @tare-anime informed me that Muse Asia's English subtitles for SxF are completely different! For example, they translated the above joke more closely to the original, by using the phrase "puppy power" and keeping Yuri's nickname for Anya as "chihuahua girl."

There are further differences with Muse Asia's translation as well, for example, they directly translate Anya's names for Loid and Yor, "chichi" and "haha," as "Father" and "Mother" instead of "Papa" and "Mama."

(thanks again to Tare for the Muse Asia screenshots!) This is different, not only compared to the Hulu subtitles, but also the official English manga as well, both of which have Anya consistently use "Papa" and "Mama."

Tare also let me know that Disney Plus in Asia, another service that streams SxF, has yet another version of the English subtitles! And these are only the subtitled versions for the US and Asia - if SxF is streamed with English subtitles in other countries, I wonder if those are different as well. That means there's at least 3-4 different English subtitle scripts for SxF, with different ways of translating certain things, like what I described above. This could make things confusing for someone without any knowledge of Japanese who reads the English version of the manga and watches the subtitled version of the anime on one or more streaming services...if they read the first few volumes of the manga with the "swole chihuahua" translation, then watch season 2 of the anime, they're gonna be confused about why Yuri calls Anya "stupid leash girl." There's other more minor inconsistencies too, like how the Hulu subtitles have Yor call Anya "Miss Anya" all the time, but the manga doesn't.

I'm sure there's some licensing reasons why there isn't one official English subtitle script that all the streaming services can use, and why they don't consult the manga translations, especially for the more difficult-to-translate parts. It seems like wasted effort for so many official English translations to exist for the same thing.
But anyway, back to the translations of jokes in SxF, another one that stood out to me occurred in chapter 23. During the scene where Loid is asking Anya about a name for Bond, he explains how dogs have trouble discerning the sounds of consonants. The phrase he uses for this is ĺéłăŽčăĺă("shiin no kiki wake"), which means "distinguishing consonants," with "shiin" meaning "consonant." However, there's another word "shiin" with the kanji ćťĺ that means "cause of death." This is what Yor thinks he means - ćťĺ ăŽčăĺă ("shiin no kiki wake"), which means "determining the cause of death." So in her thoughts, she imagines asking Bond if he prefers death by blood loss (夹čĄćť) or by being crushed (ĺ§ćť), and when he shakes his head at both, she says "you're not good at these distinctions, are you?"

This is a difficult joke to translate, so Casey got a bit loose by having Loid use the word "plosives" instead of "consonants," and then having Yor mishear it as "explosives." He then changed up Yor's dialogue by having her say that Bond prefers C-4 explosions over other methods of death.

While I don't think the translation of this joke worked as well as the previous one (I feel like Yor wouldn't know about C-4 explosions?) I couldn't come up with anything better myself, lol. It just goes to show how translating things as closely to the original as possible isn't always the best choiceâŚbut oddly, that's what the Hulu subtitles did! For some reason they opted not to even attempt to rework this joke for English, and kept both Loid and Yor's dialogue as exact translations. This results in an exchange that makes no sense and will leave people wondering how Yor could mistake Loid's "can't tell consonants apart" as "can't tell causes of death apart."
However, there are some cases where the wordplay works similar enough in both Japanese and English that the joke can be translated without too much modification. An example of this is in chapter 59 where Becky asks Yor how she was able to "get" LoidâŚ"pierce his heart" as she puts it. Yor thinks she means this literally, to which she replies that she wouldn't hurt Loid.

The Japanese version is very similar, with Becky using the verb ĺ°ć˘ăă("itomeru") which means "to shoot down" (with an arrow). However, it has a figurative meaning too, which is "to win" as in "win someone's heart." Yor thinks Becky means the literal meaning of shooting down, so she says that she wouldn't shoot Loid and that she doesn't even use a bow and arrows.

The Hulu subtitles translate it more or less directly, having Becky say "shoot an arrow through his heart" and keeping Yor's "I don't use a bow and arrows" that the manga omitted. Rare case where I think the anime translation worked better than the manga!
In the case of this joke, the concept of "shooting someone's heart" to mean "winning someone's heart" is universal in both English and Japanese, so little reworking was needed. This also helped keep consistency with Yor's tendency to associate otherwise benign concepts with violence due to the nature of her work.
I'll wrap up this post with what I think is the most commendable translation of a joke so far in the manga: how Casey translated the names of the guest characters at the ski resort in chapter 94.

Their names are puns in Japanese as well, and Annie over on Twitter already did a great breakdown of how each of the wordplay in their names was translated, so definitely check out that thread here. Since this chapter has yet to be animated, I'm really curious how the anime translators will handle thisâŚsince it seems like they don't reference the manga, they'll probably either translate the names literally or come up with their own pun names, and either will unfortunately lead to the same kind of inconsistencies between the anime and manga translations that I touched on earlier.
To summarize, humor can be a very culture/language specific thing, so it's up to the translator to make sure the same feeling is conveyed in their translation even if they have to essentially make up their own jokes. With that said, it's a shame that there isn't collaboration between the translators of the anime and manga to ensure consistent translations across the franchise. So I hope this post helped shed light, not just on how some of the jokes in SxF were conveyed in Japanese, but also on why some things in the English version of SxF seem inconsistent between the anime and manga.

An: Posting consistently again got me feeling in my prime. No promises, but might post chapter 5 later this week instead of next monday.
Series Masterlist| Masterlist
Once you were done with work, and had your flowers for Flora, you were ready to go to the Maximoffâs house. Youâd sent a quick text to Dragos telling him that youâd bring Natasha with you, to save them an extra unnecessary trip.
You pack your things quickly and head to the car, Natasha follows behind you. When you get in the car, you finally notice the subtle nervousness of Natasha.
âAre you scared to meet Wandaâs mom?â
Natasha nods a little, âItâs more than that. You guys are the most important people in her life. She told me so herself. Dragos doesnât like me yet, Pietro and I really just looked at each other, and I heard Floraâs got high standards when it comes to partners.â
âWell, they are the kindest people you could ever meet. All they'll care about is that you keep Wanda happy,â you insist.
âI think the kindness goes out of the window, when you find out your daughter got married to a Russian spy that tried to kill her,â Natasha mumbles.
You try to offer her some comfort, âIâm not going to argue with that but, youâll get a little break, when I tell them I like you.â
âReally?â
âIf Wanda told you all about me, then you should know they've got a soft spot for me,â youâre a little embarrassed when you say it, but itâs the truth.
If Natasha notices your embarrassment, she doesn't bring it up, âWanda says youâre basically a Maximoff every time she tells a story about you.â
You smile, âI like to think of them as my family too. Thereâs been plenty of times where I want to call Dragos, papa. That means thereâs even more times when I want call Flora Mama.â
âWhatâs stopping you?â
âI donât want to take the chance and ruin our dynamic.â
The Russian sighs as the house comes into view. âI think theyâd both love it. The way Wanda tells it, they feel as though you're one of their kids.â
You park the car before answering Natasha, âMaybe one day.â
With the hydrangeas in hand, you head to the front door. Natasha tries to walk behind you, but you pull her forward so sheâs next to you.
âThis is a family you have to face head on. Those uncertainties you have, keep them close to you. Donât let them see your nerves because theyâll pounce. Just remember that you love Wanda, and she loves you too,â your attempt at a pep talk seems to calm her nerves a bit.
âYou said they were nice people. Nice people donât have warnings.â
You roll your eyes, âNatasha you secretly married the daughter of a crime lord without ever meeting the family, thereâs a shitload of warnings.â
The door swings open before you have the chance to knock. You find yourself being pulled into a warm hug. Itâs only a moment before Floraâs hands land on your face. She turns your head a couple times checking that you are fine, before planting a kiss on your cheek.
âY/n, where have you been sweetheart? Too old to come see me anymore, huh? Youâve got bags under your eyes Malysh, have you been sleeping ok?â
You smile warmly at her antics, âIâll never be too old to come visit my Flora. As a sorry, for being away I brought you these.â
Flora takes the flowers from you. âAlways knowing how to get into my good graces, these are beautiful Y/n.â Her eyes dart to Natasha and you watch as her features go neutral.
 âYou must be Natasha.â
The red head extends her hand, âItâs a pleasure to meet you Mrs.Maximoff.â
Flora shakes her hand, âYes, if only we could've done this sooner. â
Natasha doesnât shift at the words, but you can feel her nerves from besides you. Flora beckons you both into the house and you follow her into the kitchen. She grabs a vase for the flowers and begins to fill it with water.
âSo, why Natasha?â She says as she places the flowers in the vase.
âIâm sorry?â Natasha is confused by the question.
Flora keeps her eyes on the flowers, âWhyâd you pick the name Natasha? Natalia is a fairly pretty name, why not keep it?â
You weren't surprised that Flora had done some research on the woman. However, Natasha was taken aback by the question. She wasnât expecting it, so it took her a moment to respond.
âAs a spy, I have many aliases. However, Natasha never felt like an alias, she just felt like me. My parents and sister call me Natalia often just to tease me, but even they seem to like Natasha better.â
You decide to help the Russian out, âAre you close with your family, Natasha?â
She nods, âVery close. My parents took Yelena and I when we were very little. They saved us from some terrible people, I owe then everything. Though they'd never let me repay them.â
âReminds me of us,â you say to Flora, who has now softened her gaze on the redhead.
Flora had a soft spot for children in tough places. You knew that's why she originally gravitated towards you, when Pietro first brought you around. This was the perfect topic to get Natasha on Floraâs good side.
âIf we found you any younger you would've had our last name,â Flora places the vase the table. She eyes Natasha for a moment before asking about her childhood, âFoster care?â
Natasha stiffens a little, âWorse. Young girls all taken and trained to be weapons for whatever they needed.â
Floraâs eyes become glossy, âThe red room.â
Natashaâs gaze was locked on the floor, âYeah.â
It is a quick turn of events when Flora wraps her arms around Natasha. She holds the woman firm as she begins to speak in Russian. You don't understand all of it, but it seems that Flora was intimately familiar with the place.
âYou two go and make yourselves comfortable while I start dinner,â she says finally releasing Natasha.
âYou donât want help?â
Flora shakes her head, âGo, relax malysh. Iâve got it covered in here.â
Instead of leading Natasha to the living room, you take her to the backyard. There is a beautiful large grass area, with a nice garden space in the corner. The patio has the perfect view of the sunset. You sit on one of the patio chairs and Natasha sits beside you.
âI think that went well,â you say to her.
âThanks to you, it went really well,â Natasha looks at you gratefully.
You shake your head, âI didnât do much.â
Natasha argues back, âI see why they call you the glue. If you hadnât made your comment, she wouldâve slighted me all night.â
âDonât give me too much credit, you would've had her the moment you asked how many people she killed,â you joke, and Natasha gets a bit embarrassed.
âSorry, I guess I just- â
You stop her, âItâs fine, Nat. Iâve been underestimated all my life. My first kill is symbolic to me, even in that pitiful state, I was able to snap someoneâs neck. I remember all of them, though itâs not a lot, I also remember each one getting easier.â
She looks at you, âThe longer it gets, the less you remember, and then one day youâre left with the memory of how you used to feel about it. Maybe it fills you with pride in the beginning, but eventually killing just leaves you feeling empty.â
Wanda comes into the backyard before you could answer the Russian.
âSheâs not giving you too much trouble is she, Y/n?â
Natasha sends her wife a pointed look. You laugh at the interaction.
âSheâs a pleasure to have around. I can see why you married her, regardless of the assassination attempt.â
Wanda tilts her head but keeps a smile on her face, âTelling our love story without me, my love?â
âIt just came up. How was the meeting?â
Wanda plops down next to you before leaning back, âApparently Kingpin is looking to expand his control. At least thatâs what Hammerhead said.â
You clench your jaw at the mention of the large man, âHeâs such a greedy bastard. He has the second largest market besides us. Which means he thinks he can take over us. I couldnât imagine being a guy that big with no fucking brains.â
Wanda shakes her head and chuckles slightly, âYou sound just like Papa. He was pissed when he heard.â
âHow is he now?â You ask knowing he could get a little reckless when he was angry.
âFor now, heâs alright. I told him we could use Kingpinâs greed as an example. We can crush him and in turn teach the others not to try to cross us.â
Your hands reach to rub your temples, âYou make it sound so easy.â
âIt will be,â you can hear the determination in her voice.
Natasha interjects, âI think Y/n has a point. Itâs definitely easier said than done.â
You keep your composure, âKingpin selling is a problem in itself, but the people should know better than to buy from him. Whoever is making purchases with him is not being loyal to us. That means heâs making allies, or rather he is taking our allies away from us. It strengthens his numbers while diminishing ours. Heâs trying to start a revolution.â
Before it could be discussed any further Dragos appears, âWe can discuss it more tomorrow. Tonight, we celebrate Wandaâs homecoming⌠and marriage. Dinner is ready.â
Youâre the first out of your chair and into the house. It leaves Dragos some time with the couple.
âRemember we only talk business outside of the office, if it is absolutely necessary,â he reminds his daughter.
âShe still gets that way?â Wanda asks referring to you.
He shakes his head, âSheâs just started brainstorming and itâs hard for her to put it aside. Sheâs not that timid little girl anymore.â
Wanda lets out an irritated sigh, âWhy does everyone keep saying that? I know her just like everyone else, papa. Iâve cared for her, Iâve trained her, and- â
âYou missed 5 years of her life; you missed her graduation, you missed her putting all of her training to practical use, you missed her joining the family business. No one is saying that you didn't know her well, but you canât act like you witnessed her growth.â
âItâs not my fault that I wasnât there,â she speaks through gritted teeth.
âNo one is saying it was, malysh.â
Natasha grabs her wifeâs hand, âWeâre celebrating you tonight like your father said. Letâs just enjoy this and eat. You never stopped talking about your motherâs cooking and the longer we spend out here, the colder the food gets in there.â
Wanda gets up from her seat, âYouâre right. Iâm sorry Papa, Iâm just not used to being home yet.â
âItâs alright, her growth is startling. I still remember how I felt when Pietro told me she killed a boy. It was a shock; I didnât want to believe it. She was so delicate that I couldn't picture her doing it.â
âY/n killed somebody?â
Natasha nods, âShe told me about it. Y/n actually has a little ledger, 8 people.â
Wandaâs eyes widen, âShe told you about it?â
The conversation stops there, when you come back, âFlora said if you guys donât come to dinner now that Piet and I can have your plates.â
âYouâd eat Wandaâs welcome home meal, thatâs pretty criminal even by our standards,â Natasha says pulling her wife along into the house.
âOh 100%, you would too if you had Floraâs cooking.â
The playful banter continues, even once everyone is sat at the dinner table. Conversation flows freely, but Wanda doesn't contribute much. All that circles her mind is you.
Her fatherâs words echo in her head. She had missed some of the most important moments of your life. Wanda was scared to admit that she hardly recognized the woman youâve grown into.
It bothered her. She was jealous that everyone got to see you blossom, but her. Even Wandaâs wife seemed to know things about you that she didnât. It was a pill that she didnât want to swallow.
Her little Krolik wasnât so little anymore.

⤠find something worth saving (it's all for the taking)
CHAPTER ONE: WE'RE NOT IN KANSAS ANYMORE
â back to chapter list
SUMMARY âł A large machine stationed on both sides of the room, pointed ends meeting each other. A particle accelerator. pairing: jon kent x gn!reader x damian wayne wc: 2.1k

In every universe the Spider is a hero. Some go by different names, some can create their own organic webs, and some have their own cat burglar to wrestle with. One constant, for sure, is that they all are bitten by a spider. You are not the exception.
You were bit when you were 13, and for the last 5 years, you have been the âone and onlyâ Spinnerette! It had been a rocky start, but things are looking okay now. Youâve got a family, a real, strong and fun family.
âYouâve been officially added to my hitlist, Tony, watch youâre motherfucking back.â
âOh, goody. You might be the only person who hasnât hired a sniper on me before.â
Loving family, of course.
There was an idea to put together a group of remarkable people to see if they could fight the battles humanity could not. It was called the âAvenger Initiative.â A billionaire, super soldier, scientist, Russian spy, master archer and a God walk into a Shawarma restaurant, wonder what it leads to. The Avengers currently all (mostly) live in the former Stark Tower.
You also currently live in the former Stark Tower. Itâs a dream come true. Everyone is happy, everyone is healthy, and your relationships with each Avenger is thriving.
âWhenâs the last time you ate, kiddo?â asks Tony, stepping inside your personal lab he had gifted you for your 15th birthday. Your hands move deftly, fluid and familiar in fixing your web-shooters.
âA definitely normal time,â is your reply. âHey, what did you do with the Iron Spider suit? Iâve been looking for it everywhere. Iâm thinking about tweaking some of the web combinations.â
âItâs charging, where else would it be? Also, here.â He puts a bag of sandwiches from Delmarâs. You grin and reach out for it. âYou know me so well.â
âI know you best,â he clicks, and reaches out to ruffle your hair, only because you let him. âCan you tell Nat I fixed her widow bites? And tell Sam I fixed that dent in his wings, too.â You take a bite of a sandwich. âIâm unna pakrol inna vit.â
He pinches your cheek. âDonât talk with your mouth full, itâs disgraceful.â Stay safe.

â[Name], it may be more efficient to patrol without music blasting in your ears,â says your ever so faithful AI, Karen.
You huff goodnaturedly. â Ear , Karen. Singular. Itâs never screwed me over before, I promise I am a responsible music listener.â The thwip of your webs shooting out has always been a comforting sound. Itâs a reminder, of who you are, of what you stand for. All your accomplishments (failures too, but the pain is grounding.) âAlso, please place an order for the new Batman comic, I forgot to do it earlier.â
âI find it contradicting how you say you are a casual enjoyer, yet own nearly every issue of any and all related Batman comics.â
âI donât believe in consistency⌠or whatever Hobie would say.â
The discovery and confirmation of the multiverse was not as surprising as it shouldâve been, but it was daunting all the same. Youâve never really been alone since your life at the Tower, but it was a whole new type of connection, finding out there were other Spiders, other youâs . Then, of course, there was that whole âMiles, youâre the original anomaly!â fiasco. Luckily, the situation ended up resolved, and there are (mostly) no hard feelings. You havenât met another [Name] [L.Name] yet, but there are plenty of other Spiderâs to learn from.
âNumerous suspicious activity reports have taken place downtown. I suggest checking it out.â
âYouâre the boss, Karen.â You twist your body, changing your momentum and direction, heading downtown. You do flips and tricks, with all the grace of a ballerina. The nanotech is perfectly flexible enough for your dramatics. Tony had spontaneously made the suit for you, as the fabric of your old one didnât provide as much armor as he needed for peace of mind.
âI am detecting a multiversal instability. Tread carefully.â
The eyes of your suit squint. âGet Miguel on this.â
It isnât often a multiversal problem pops up in your universe. With people like Stephen Strange and Wanda Maximoff holding cosmic power in relation to interdimensional activity, and the Space Stone itself, your universe holds up well in defense to multiverse activity. But even so, space is unpredictable.
Miguel, despite all his grievances with you and the Peter Parker of Earth-199999, equipped you both with a Web-Watch (you and the other Spiderlings agreed Gizmo was lame). You donât use it much unless itâs to go chill at the Spider HQ or visit the other âLings in their universes. Whatever iota of guilt he felt after the whole Miles thing manifested itself as overprotectiveness, and he insists on dealing with all spatial related problems himself. Youâll indulge him, if only to bother him about the tech in his universe.
Youâre met with a warehouse, abandoned, because of course it is. âNo heat signatureâs,â you mumble, the suit scanning for signs of life. You hop down through a hole in the roof silently, looking around. Thereâs random tech and machine parts scattered around, which is never a good sign. Itâs easy to miss for the untrained eye, but you spot a hidden elevator mechanism and step inside it. If anything goes wrong, you trust your spider-sense to get you the hell out of dodge.
The way down is ominous, if not for the almost complete darkness, then for the red blinking lights. Your sense tingles, not sensing any immediate danger, but very uncomfortable down here.
d onât feel good not safe for long leave quickly
Going en pointe (because going on your actual tippy toes to increase stealth is just way too good), you sneak carefully. Just because there are no living dangers doesnât mean there are none at all. The room is as dark as the rest of the place, and while you can turn on night vision, itâs not as efficient in understanding what the hell you might be looking at.
âKaren, is there a light switch in here?â Your voice echoes in the large room.
âTo your left, [Name].â Sure enough, there actually is a light switch that you find after groping the wall. âHuh,â you hum, pleasantly surprised. A flick of the switch activates the many overhead lights and reveals a daunting sight.
A large machine stationed on both sides of the room, pointed ends meeting each other.
A particle accelerator.
âFuck,â you breathe. âOk- uh. Karen, contact Tony, and Bruce. Can you tell if itâs been active recently?â
âI am picking up a recent signal, yes. I theorize the recent earthquakes are because of test runs.â
Miles once told you his story. Finding the particle accelerator, his Spider-Manâs death. You remember placing a hand on his shoulder, and you remember him grasping it tightly. It was a complicated time in his life.
âHow did he destroy it againâŚ?â you murmur, looking around the machine. âA goober.. right. How did Peni make it, though?â Pulling up your wrist, you scan the machine. âPlease contact Peni as well, K.â
Stilling your posture, you look up at the accelerator. You have no doubt nothing good will come from whoever is behind this. Those who try to manipulate powers greater than them always receive a rude awakening. Maybe, by the grace of some higher power, you can somehow rope the Space Stone into this. You know better than to think they donât have some kind of sentience. Maybe youâre just getting ahead of yourselfâ
watch out! behind you!
When you turn around, thereâs nothing behind you. Youâre on high alert now. Your sense doesnât make mistakes, so either a sniper is pointing his gun at you, or someone who can cloak themselves in around you, and neither of those are good. You breathe in, honing your senses, the situation is far too delicate for you to stumble.
âShow yourself,â you demand. âIf youâre smart enough to build this then understand when I say I will find you.â
there! right there!
You turn and send a web to where your senses pointed. The person grunts, trapped in your solution. You pull them toward you. âShow yourself,â you repeat.
A sigh leaves the person's mouth. Then, slowly, their form reveals itself. Itâs like Miles' ability to go invisible. Before you is someone your age, must be. And yet the way they carry themselves is reminiscent of somebody who has been through far too much for someone their age. So, basically every Spider you know.
Which is on brand apparently, because this person must be like you. There is no other possibility. The web patterns on their suit, the bug eyes of their mask, the invisibility thing.
âYouâreâŚâ you mutter.
âLike you,â they finish.
Your eyes narrow. âThe hell are you doing, man? Surely a Spider knows this if some fuckshit,â you gesture to the massive machine. âWhat are you even doing here?â
Their suits eyes squint. âItâs a delicate matter.â
âYeah. Obviously,â you roll your eyes. âNot like a bridge to different dimensions is any walk in the park.â
âItâs none of your business,â they huff.
âHell yeah, it is. Youâre me, basically. Youâre building a particle accelerator in my universe. By the way, letâs talk about that. Why not just carry out your evil plans in your own home? Did Venom get you or something? We can like, do something about that. Probablyââ
âEnough nonsense,â they spit.
âOh, okay.â
The room lights up, and the particle accelerator whirls to life. The room shakes, no doubt another earthquake beginning to affect the city. A whirlwind of colors fill your vision. Your hand curls the cuff of their suit into your fist.
âWhat did you do.â
âIâm doing what I have to.â
It happens fast, far faster than your senses could have warned you. Your web restricting them snaps and their hands grab you.
âYouâll survive.â Their hands destroy your watch. âIâm not so cruel.â
And youâre thrown into the web of the universe.

Waking up in an unfamiliar environment has happened far more times than it should have. Itâs instinct that pulls you up from the ground. Your body is sore, your head hurts, and the eyes of your suit are genuinely tweaking.
âKarenâŚâ you groan.
âI am unable to connect to any Mr. Starkâs satellites. I detect multiple bruises all over your body, no broken bones. The suit is in functioning condition, 92% charge left.â
âYeah, we are definitely not in New York anymore. My New York, anyway.â You look up. Your environment is gloomy, the skies are gray, and the buildings have seen better days.
âIâve connected to the satellites I can detect that are currently in orbit.â
âI need out of this suit, K.â The nanites retract into your web-shooters, now disguised as regular bracelets. You pause and think. âGimme some glasses, actually. I still need you.â A couple of nanites crawl up your body and form frames on your face. âI can always count on you, K.â
âIâve created a route to a public library with computers for you.â
The walk to the library has you on edge. Your sense isnât exactly reacting like it would when youâre in immediate danger, but itâs buzzing constantly. You sigh to yourself. There shouldâve been a protocol made for this as soon as you found out about the multiverse. It wouldâve definitely been called the âWeâre Not In Kansas Anymore Protocol.â
âIâll start making that protocol for you,â Karen says. You hadnât realized youâd been talking outloud, sighing. âThanks, K.â
People keep glancing at you when you walk by before ultimately minding their own business. Youâre sure that you give them that uncanny valley feeling, even if you look like a regular human. Effects of being from another universe, you guess.Â
Walking up the steps to the library, you think about your next move. You should worry about living your situation. You have no clue how long youâll be here before someone finds you (or, god forbid, you build your own way back home). You know how to be sneaky and steal, hopefully it doesnât have to come to that though. You look up, thinking, and pause when your eyes spot something.
Gotham City Public Library.
What. The. Fuck.
In hindsight, it shouldnât be so surprising. Infinite universes, infinite possibilities, so on and so forth. It had never crossed your thoughts that the silly stories you like (read: obsess over) could be a real universe out there. You donât like to think about it too hard.
âKaren. Where are we.â
âMy map tells me we are currently located in Gotham City, New Jersey.â Big yikes.
âOkay. Change of plans. We are going anywhere but here. Letâs just make up a fake identity, first. And get a job. I deserve a couple of days to think.â No way in hell are you going anywhere near that library where goddamn Oracle works.
Itâll be best to avoid everyone all together.

Part of your World. [CH2]

Chapter 2: youre still here?? And..you've been here before?
Pairings: OT9 x Reader, Scout x Reader.
Synopsis: you thought that going to sleep would solve everything, But nope! You wake up and the whole crew is still here, and it seems like there's more tension here than you thought...
A/n: AGAIN IM SORRY FOR THIS BEING LATTEEE I HOPE YOU ENJOY đ

You thought that going to sleep was going to solve your problem.
That you would go to sleep and wake up and all of the fellas would be back in their world like nothing ever happened.
âRISE AND SHINE MAGGOT!! WE HAVE TO GET YOU IN TIP TOP SHAPE!!â
..or so you thought until you were rudely awoken by the sound of a horn at the ass crack of dawn.
"Oi lady! I don't think the lady wants to be woken at the ass crack of dawn Soldier Boy!"
"NONSENSE! SHE MUST BE READY. UP AND AT EM CUPCAKE!"
You groan and roll out of bed, walking down the hall to see half of the mercenaries up already moving around your home. The ones that were up were Heavy, Soldier, Sniper and Engineer.
Spy was out doing gods know what, Medic was still in bed along with Scout and Demoman. Engineer said Pyro was fascinated by your stuffed animals and was having an earlier morning tea party with them.
You plop down at the table, running a hand through you hair, because you had NINE other people in your house, how in the hell were you going to explain this to any of your family members let alone your friends that also played the game?!
Oh hey guys! Yea donât mind the fellas, they came through the computer screen!? Oh and they're from an damn near 18 year old game that hasn't had a proper update in years!
Oh and they're mercenaries!? Boy howdy did you hit the lottery, but fuck did you have questions too.
âHey..not rushing you to leave..but..can you guys even go back?..â You ask softly as you begin to eat the plate Engineer settled down in front of you.
Engineer nodded, âMost definitely, say if you have company and you donât wantâ all of us here, We can go back, jusâ takes a while.â He explains and that eased some of your nerves at least, they could move to and from easily, so that could save you a few awkward conversations in the long run.
âJust let us know, it is a process, and we have to go in order.â Heavy adds, âAnd some of us are more stubborn than others about leaving here. They really like little lady here.â
You blushed and tilted your head, Oh yea. They said that they had been watching you..Which brought up another question you wanted to ask yesterday but didnât have a chance to bring up.
You were too busy processing that your favorite bunch of fictional characters were now in your house.
âO-oh yea rightâŚabout.. How long were you watching me if you donât mind me asking?â
Soldier spooked you by slamming his hands on the table and getting real close to your face, making you jolt back, leaning back from him. âAPPROXIMATELY 5 YEARS LADY! YOU HAVE BEEN THE SUBJECT OF OUR EYES FOR A WHILE! CONGRATS.â
You were about to speak but he continued. âMOST MEN WOULDâVE BEEN DEAD ONCE IN OUR SIGHTS.â
That didnât quell the nervous pit building up in you stomach, you jolted again when you felt hands on your shoulders, looking up to see Medic smiling back at you.
âGood Morning! I hope zhat you slept well! You were vell guarded last night! Not zhat we vere going to let anyone hurt you vhile we are here with you.â
âAh..thanks Medic, Whereâs Scout and Pyro?â
âOh zhey are coming! You have quite the collections of toys they seemed so interested in!â
You rubbed the back your neck, they mustâve been in the first guest room that you turned into a display room for all of your collectables like the many figures, both official and fan made of them, squishmallows, build a bear plushies and more.
âOh yeaâŚwell when you are a single adult, and get as lucky as me, money kinda goes to whatever I see that I want.â You say sheepishly before you stood up, going in there to check on the two.
Leaving the kitchen you headed down the hall where you could here Scoutâs loud voice followed by quiet yet just as enthusiastic mumbles coming from Pyro.
You come up to the room and finally entered, seeing the two had figured out to play your old wii that you had in the room, the two of them were locked in an intense race of Mario kart that brought a smile to your face. âHey..Iâm just checking on you, Medic said yall just got up..â
Pyro turned to you first, happy muffled noises that sounded like a âGood Morning!â, Scout followed up with a smirk as he looked up at you. âMorninâ toots, Ya missed me that much you came looking for me?â
You felt your face heat up and you avoided your gaze, landing on the area where you had all the replica weapons youâd collected over the years, most of them being Scouts.
You walked over and noticed Scout had placed the baseball bat he came with over there, the cocky bastard had even signed it with his poor handwriting.
You held the bat before you jumped, feeling hands wrap around your waist, soon you felt Scout place his head in the crook of your neck. âYou know..Youâre the perfect fit for my arms..i was right choosinâ youâŚâ
You turned in his arms so that the two of your were facing, a confused look on your face. HeâŚchose you?
âWait..so it was your idea come through?
âYea, itâs just somethinâ that draw me to ya..Spy said it sounds like a soulmate, but shit, didnât think ii worked cross..dimensions or whatever the hell Engie said.â
The two of you stayed in each others arms for a little longer, and you felt..funny..
You always did joke with Nova about how Scout was your Soulmate, especially when the two of you would do random challenges and he would always be the one to pop on your screen. He was the one you bought the most merch of, who you dressed as for Halloween..he was just..your favorite.
So..could what he be sayingâŚpossible?
Scout leans down, his face getting closer to you, your faces were inches apart from one another.
âAh. I had a feeling I'd find you here boy.â
The two of you broke apart, turning to see that Pyro had long left and Spy was left standing in the doorway.
âDontcha know it's creepy to watch people like that!?â
âIt's my job and natural talent to go undetected.â
Spy then moves to look at you. âMedic requests to speak to you, something about wanting to go into town with you.â
You nodded before giving Scout a small smile before heading back to the Kitchen where the others were all sitting.
Spy waited until you left the room completely to close the door. He crossed his arms as he looked over at Scout. âYouâre rushing in.â
Scout rolled his eyes as he turned his back to Spy, âAh here you go again, I know what Iâm doing Spy. â
âDo you really? Need I remind you what happened with Serââ
Scout turned to him and pushes him against the wall, grabbing him by the front of his suit.
âdo NOT bring her fuckinâ Name up here. My toots is different! You see that, and everyone else does too!â
Spy pushes him back dusting himself off. âSure, She is. And calling her pet names this early? Hmph. Should know better than love sick fool.â
Scout rolls his eyes. âAs if you're any Better, Need to mention Vanessa ? Remember her? Miss she's different Than theââ
Spy grabbed Scout by the front of the shirt. âDo not sully her name! We lost contact! And you know that!â
âYea yea..Mysteriously we get severed from her? Ya right, a dame like her wouldn't go for Mr i can't commit to one woman.â
The two stood inches away from each other before Scout decided to storm past him to meet up with the others. Spy watches him before rolling his eyes in annoyance, following behind.
"I still think you're rushing things, you were nearly kissing her!"
"Yea? And i would've if your ass didn't interrupt! Cockblock!"
"Cockblock?!"
"You heard me frenchie!"

When you went out with Medic, he had asked to go out to a pharmacy, you tilted your head in confusion but he explained it away by wanting To see how different the medicine was in your world.
Somehow (and you didn't really question how), the previous day when Heavy, Spy and Medic left out, they managed to get the mercs all IDs and documents, just in case.
You didn't know why they needed them and you really hoped they didn't plan on getting into any trouble while with you, bit knowing them they probably were already planning for the worst.
âSay Medic..or..would you rather me call you guys by your real names? I never asked.â You mentioned and Medic hummed.
âYou can call me Ludwig, please Frau..my first name..I don't really..â
âLike too much?â You joked and he averted his eyes, his face flushing and you giggle.
âIt's a little joke in the fandom, most people only just started referring to you as Herbert.â You explained and you peeked his interest.
âfandom? Oh right! Ve are technically fictional in your vorld.â
âMhm! There's fanart of you all, cosplays, fanfiction, all type Of media of all of you guys.â
Medic nods along as he listened to you, before you thought of something. âAhh..I guess i would need to give you all a way to keep in contact with me in case you guys do go out.â
You pulled out your phone, âI may get you guys all phones..though I might wait til we get back..speaking of.â You pulled up outside of the pharmacy and smiled at Medic.
âWe're here! I'll be waiting here for ya, I'll do some research on getting you guys some phonesâ
âAlright, i shouldn't be long then.â

âCan you stop trying to police me man!?â
The argument from earlier seemed to ramp up between Scout and Spy, and the main reason was because Spy went and informed Heavy and Engineer of what he saw.
Engineer tried to be the mediator and walked up to Scout. âListen, Scout. Spy is jusâ lookinâ out for ya, you know what happened the last time..We arenât saying that Y/n isnât a great girl, just trying to be careful.â
Scout was only growing more upset at their words. âOh? But when Spy leaves out and doesnât tell any of us and gets hung up on a girl itâs fine!?â
Heavy sighs as he stepped in, âScout. We donât want you to act irrational. You fall quickly. You know this. You fell for Miss Pauling, Just like you fell for Sera-â
Scout slams his hands on the table. âDONT MENTION HER FUCKING NAME!â He yelled,
âShit why do I have to listen to advice from the same man who didnât tell me he was my father until last year? And Iâm supposed to believe that he knows whatâs best for me? Yea thatâs reallll nice guys.â
Spyâs face hardened but he averted his gaze and so did Engineer and Heavy. Scout rolled his eyes, ânot to mention EVERYONE KNEW, and you guys want me to listen to you all? Tch.â Scout threw his hands up before heading out of the door.
âAnd where in the hell are you going?!â Spy called after him but Scout didnât answer, just grabbed his bag and left out the front door.
It was an awkward silence before Spy crossed his arms and groaned in annoyance before lighting his cigarette. "That dumb boy is gonna get himself hurt here."
The others sighed before Sniper spoke up, âYou know. you lot are all hard on âem, ain't like the girl played him. She played all of us. So why do yall blame Scout?â
The male said, walking up. âWe all know how hard it was for the bloke to get over it, being used like that, at the same time figuring out the man who makes fun of ya for being a virgin is your pops?â Sniper crossed his arms, looking particularly at Spy.
âAnd at least Sera didn't just up and vanish, causing us to get sucked back into the bloody game. You guys owe him an apoloââ
âHey guys!! Weâre back! And Sniper when did you have time to buy a camper??â In walked you, with Medic in tow with his bag of medicine and other items for research.
Sniper gave you a lopsided grin. âDid it yesterday, ain't paid much for it. Surprised our money is worth alot here i guess.â
âWell yea cause you guys are like from the 60s, and the economy is currently fucked so..congrats?â You say with a giggle before looking around confused.
âHey, where's Scout?â You asked and it suddenly went quiet for a bit. Spy, Heavy, and Engineer looked at each other but it was Sniper who spoke up.
âHe went for a walk luv, surprised you didn't see him when you were driving up.â
âWell he is pretty fast..â you muttered before thinking, you did need everyone here to figure our what to do.
You then pouted a bit, âwell I need everyone here for what I'm about to talk about. So can we take your new camper to look for him?â You ask and Sniper nods before grabbing his keys. He looks back At the others before he motions for you to come along.
The two of you headed out of the home, and you climbed in with the help of Sniper, he soon starts it and pulls out of your yard. You were fiddling with your hands as you wanted to know what made him leave out in the first place.
âWhat happened while me and Medic were gone?â
Sniper glances Over to you before sighing, âwell to start love, you're not the first person that we've blessed with our presence. This ain't our first time in this world. Just our most recent, hence why we got all the right things.â He started.
âLast one..just did us really dirty..especially Scout, severed the connection and we all were rudely ripped away from the lives we started here. Him and Spy got into an argument because Spy, as much as the spook doesn't want to admit it, is afraid it'll happen again and Scout will get hurt.â
You hummed in response, you kinda figured this, not that they were hurt, but that this wasn't the first time as they were too familiar with the motions of this world. âPoor Scout..i can only imagine.â
Sniper grunts before he speaks again. âIt hurts all of us. Because in a way, weâre bound to whoever brings us âere. If that person cuts ties, we vanish, and the process is painful. It's like we're ripped from reality. Hurts way more than us coming here.â
âWell..im not going to let that happen again, I care too much about you guys, spent many days wishing you guys could be real ya know..â you mumble softly. âIt's hard, and Nova is the only friend I really have..so im..I'm glad to have you guys, I can't imagine doing what she did.â
Sniper gives you a slight grin. âMeans alot..just..go easy on the mate especially. I know we all act like we hate each other..especially when it comes to Scout..â He manages to see him walking along the sidewalk, heading in the direction of the nearby park.
âBut we all care for âemâŚespecially Spy. so talk to em. He'll probably open up to you, cause its really his story to tell...â He slows down to allow you to get out and you thank him before opening the door and undoing your seat belt.
You wait until he drives off before you rush to go and catch up to Scout. Male walked nearly 3 times faster than you did.
âHey! Scout!â
Scout looks up to see you rushing up to catch up to him. He stops and smiled widely. âHey there toots.., didn't expect ya to come lookinâ for me.â
You smile up at him. âWhy wouldn't I? You are my favorite ya know.â That makes him blush and he averts his gaze but you then offered your hand for him to hold.
He looked confused before you spoke again. âC'mon..let's walk and talk, Okay?â You say and he nods before taking your hand, the two of you heading towards the park.
â..thanks babes, I don't know where to start..â
You lean on him, unable to see how his face was flushed red all the way up to his ears. He stuttered over his words before your next words made his heart swell.
"Take your time, I'm here for you, and I'll listen..okay?"

Get ready with me to be surprised with
â¨ď¸Anya's Originâ¨ď¸
Hint: Romania
I had some free time, so I reread the latest chapter of Spy x Family, chapter 92.

Barbara said she and Sigmund were in Covenia for awhile. We know Westalis and Ostania are a reference for the West Germany and Eastern Germany, so I wondered if Covenia is based on a real place too. I was bored, y'see.
I quick-searched a country name that ended with -nia, but no luck.
I remembered a theory that Anya is more superior in Classical languange because she might've come from a place that uses that languange. A wild idea popped up to me that Covenia still uses (or references) that language. Since Sigmund has many classical books, it's not a stretch to assume he learned that language because he used to live in Covenia. Based on that assumption, I searched what country is still using Latin languange, what languange that references Latin.

... bingo.
Covenia and Romania. Who would've thought.
I searched where is Romania located because my geography sucks.
Oh it's in Europe, great! And it's close with Ukraine too, Russia...
Wait. I thought the story is based in the '60s, so, could they be related at that time?

Wow, so they ARE related.
And the timeline matched with SxF's world too.
When I clicked the "Romania" word, I stumbled on this.

.....
Could it be,
Anya originally comes from Covenia, which is a reference to Romanian People's Republic?
Does it mean the organization that experiment on Anya is based in Soviet?
And to think that Sigmund, a well-known neurology professor, used to rehabilitate wounded soldiers in Covenia... Is it really a rehabilitation though?
*cold sweat*
Anyways.
If Anya really comes from Covenia/Romania, the initial spelling of her name would make sense then, but I have zero idea about Romanian alphabet to confirm it.
Of course I searched it.
The Romanian alphabet is a variant of the Latin alphabet used for writing the Romanian language. It is a modification of the classical Latin alphabet and consists of 31 letters, five of which (Ä, Ă, Ă, Č, and Č) have been modified from their Latin originals for the phonetic requirements of the language
Oh shoot it's getting warmer.
Double check to make sure, I tried to look if [ĂŽ] is really the replacement alphabet for [y].

OH SHIT.
K, Q, W and Y, not part of the native alphabet, were officially introduced in the Romanian alphabet in 1982.
Now it makes sense. No wonder Anya spelled her name like that.

It's because in the place where she came from, the alphabet Y wasn't used yet. And it's not supposed to be Ania either; it's AnĂŽa. But I doubt a small child like her would understand the difference between i and ĂŽ.
Summary:
Anya might've come from Covenia/Romania. It explains her initial name and her excellence in Classical language.
The organization that experimented on Anya might've come from the Soviet.
Sigmund might have some connections with Anya more than we thought; the theories were right on track. Because he studies neurology and lived in Covenia for some time, he is fluid in Classical languange and he knows how to make learning more fun.
I wanted to try searching what kind of brain-related research did Soviet do at that time, but then I might come up with lobotomy or some dark shit and I'm not prepared for that, so I'm gonna let the sleeping dogs lie until we get more informations from Endo.
Annd that's it. I'm very surprised with this finding. My quick 5-minutes search turned into 2-hours brainrot. And my hands are still cold. I'm not sure if it's intentional from Endo or it's just some happy coincidence, but at least I'm more aware with Covenia now.
Thank you for following me in this short journey! Byee đ
