Regulus Black song of the day:
dancing with the devil by Demi Lovato. Gives me so many Regulus before he dies in canon vibes. But also gives me spy Regulus who's in love with James. I just I like happy endings for my jegulus. I have this image in my head of Regulus dancing to this.
Tumblr media
Twisted reality, hopeless insanity I told you I was okay, but I was lying
I was dancing with the devil Out of control Almost made it to heaven It was closer than you know Playing with the enemy Gambling with my soul It's so hard to say no When you're dancing with the devil Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh Yeah, yeah

engame jegulus Playlist
I'm one of those people who connects deeply with art (music, books, visual art). I have playlists for each installment of my fic. But someone asked me if I had a Jegulus playlist. I didn't but I put one together. The songs are NOT in chronological order, they are in order of my most favorites first. And I had to cut songs I love because it was simply too long. This is inspired by canon event compliant Jegulus (but without the Jily at all, they are best friends and the conception of Harry and their wedding has a context I won't explain until I post that installment). The boys we love are headed to the stars.
Fair warning, I edit my playlists regularly. So there might be minor edits in the future.
Thank you @darkcrowprincess for inspiring a few of my newest discoveries! I hope you all find a few gems you connect strongly with.

"So they filled my cell with snakes, I regret to say, do you believe me now?"
~ Taylor Swift (Cassandra) Pairing: jegulily angst - Rating: T
TW: (MDC)
"What about Pettigrew?" Regulus asked, hesitantly voicing the thought he'd been keeping to himself for weeks.
Four pairs of eyes turned towards him.
"Reg, love, I-" Lily murmured softly, holding a nursing Harry in her arms.
"He would never," Sirius said, looking disgusted.
"Well, it has to be someone!" Regulus bust out, frustrated. They'd been at this for weeks, now. Trying to determine who was passing information to Voldemort. Who was close enough to them to know such crucial things, but sneaky enough to get away with it.
Of course, Regulus knew that a fair few people suspected him. The thought of it made him want to scream. The idea of betraying his husband and wife, not to mention his brother ad best friend, made him feel nauseous.
But Peter? He'd always been a bit sly. His Animagus was a rat, for Merlin's sake. And he'd been strangely absent lately...
"Have you seen him at meetings?" Remus asked thoughtfully, always the voice of reason.
"No," Regulus admitted. It was true. When he went to Death Eater meetings to spy, Peter was nowhere to be seen.
"I don't think he would do that," James murmured, eyes heavy with sadness. "I can't imagine..." a tear dropped to his cheek.
"He wouldn't," Sirius insisted, jaw set.
But as Regulus fell to the floor on October 31st, 1981, clutching the hands of Lily and James to his chest, screaming in agony at the sight of their lifeless bodies, he knew.
He was right.
And, allowing the anger to overflow within him, the loss and denial and feeling of utter despair and loneliness ripping through his very soul, he screamed as Sirius, who stumbled through the door with wide eyes.
"Do you believe me now?"

There are characters in this franchise who did not let themselves be bit by a three headed dog to protect a stone or ran through the castle in their nightshirt upon hearing someone scream.
Or agreed to spy on the most dangerous person on earth withoutht gaining anything.
With the prospect of being tortured and killed if they were ever found out.
Who risked being exposed by trying to save Lupins life at the battle of the seven Potters- eventhough they hated that man.
Who ignored forbidden activities their students did so they would not be punished by the deatheaters(,the carrows).
Or who lept out of a window so they wouldn‘t have to hurt his colleagues.
And still Severus remains the most hated.
To quote another post i can‘t find anymore:
„These are not the actions of someone who does not care.“
His actions show, that he cared deeply for the safety of his students and colleagues.
And still he is treated worse that Bellatrix or Barty or Regulus or Draco or Lucius.
When he was the most caring and devoted and human all of all of them.
Make it make sense.
Actions speak louder than words.

@jegulus-microfic / march 1: rugby / word count: 365
Too many videos, adverts and search suggestions about rugby have been appearing on all of Regulus' platforms to be coincidence. It only took a brief mention of the sport in a conversation with Barty and Evan while they were at work for it to flood every digital space Regulus owns. The funny thing is that of all the players out there, the one who is most reluctant to leave his phone is the one called Potter, who is apparently an eminence in the sport.
Regulus knows only the basics about rugby, preferring soccer to be honest, but over the last few days he has found himself in the spare time he has between flights, looking up more information and watching the games this James guy plays in.
All of this makes him feel a little foolish for succumbing to the insistent advertising, but a couple of days later it proves extremely useful when he sees a silhouette Regulus has become quite familiar with boarding the plane, and it leaves him gaping in surprise. When James Potter greets the cabin crew, which almost no one does genuinely, Regulus chokes with his own saliva, earning amused looks from his two friends and leaving him blushing as he helps the Gryffindor flanker find his seat in first class.
Despite the initial surprise, the flight goes off without a hitch, save for Barty making crude gestures at him from the back of the aisle every time it is Regulus' turn to attend to a particular passenger. A passenger who appears to be nervous, as Regulus has seen him catch rugby balls at several miles per hour, but seems to have lost all motor skills when he drops the blanket he is trying to hand him twice.
At the end of the flight, despite being at the front of the plane, James decides to be the last to get up to disembark, but not before giving Regulus his number.
Some time later, all of Regulus' platforms are flooded with James Potter again, but for slightly different reasons. And well, probably now somewhere in the world someone else is complaining because he's the one accompanying the player in almost every picture.

I just had a light bulb, my hp fans that are also inspired by one of my posts
Imagine if Dumbledore summoned Regulus, Severus, and Remus in his office before they all graduated and gave them all the assignment to become spies for the order.
Dumbledore knew Regulus was going to become a death eater due to his parents, and he also knew that Severus and Regulus were close to each other and that Severus was going to join as well despite not believing in their cause but only to protect one of the few friends he cared about in the death eater cult and that included Regulus.
Dumbledore also had a suspicion that Tom Riddle would be attempting to make an alliance with Fenrir Greyback and his pack along with other werewolves who wanted out of the shadows.
So Dumbledore summoned Severus, Regulus, and Remus and offered them to help the order. In return, he promised to try and protect their loved ones from the other side as long as they reported all information from the darkside straight to him. But no one, family, friend, partner, or other can ever know or find out what they're doing no matter what.
After much thought between the three students and a sit-down discussion that didn't end in bloodshed or arguments for the first time. They all went to Dumbledore and accepted the deal in return for their loved ones' safety and their own after the war ended, and the Phoenix order wins.
Severus, Regulus, and Remus even did the unbreakable vow spell. The unbreakable vow ensured that they would hold their end of the bargain, but it also ensured that if anyone tried to find out about them being spies, they would never say a word about it and deny it entirely
So Regulus and Severus joined the Death eaters together, rising through the ranks to get close to the dark lord and his closest inner circle while looking out for each other like family. Remus managed to gain Fenrir's trust enough to join his pack and made his way through the ranks while also being a member of the order.
When they all became spies, they traded information with each other by using codes and ciphers only they could understand. If they ever needed to meet, they would either send an owl, patronus, or letter discreetly to meet somewhere private. And if one of them needed to get information to Dumbledore but couldn't, they would give this information to one or the other to report to Dumbledore in their stead.
As they all continued their spy work, they also learned that there were people who didn't want any part of the war or to fight and kill. So Severus and Regulus studied the dark mark, trying to find a solution to erase it permanently and help the wizards and witches who were forced into the death eaters. Remus also managed to help as many werewolves as he could with Severus's help with the wolfsbane potion and help them get as far away from the war as they could.
These three men would continue working together in the shadows, learning more about each other and realizing that there's more to each other than meets the eye. They even consulted each other about personal things that they can't say in front of others. Even Severus and Remus started getting along and realized how much similar they were. Even Regulus surprised himself when he started befriending Remus.
Let me know what you all think and give me your thoughts and opinions on this little imagine and how you think it would go.
Enjoy

Regulus, smirking: Remember the first time we met?
James, matching his grin: Yeah, you stabbed me in the shoulder.
Regulus: Exactly.
James, sighing lovingly: I fell in love that day...
Regulus: What
James: What

Prompt 23 - Alley
@jegulus-microfic February 23 Word count 949
Previous part First part
CW- Torture via cruiatus
Regulus knew something was going on the second the werewolves arrived. They entered Malfoy Manor in an orderly manner, unlike their usual free-for-all.
They seemed to be guarding something in the middle of the group. They continued on until they stopped in front of Voldemort, and a man was dragged from the centre and forced to the floor.
Regulus immediately recognised him. It was Remus. He carefully masked his features so he wouldnt give either of them away.
“Shit, is that Lupin?” Barty whispered too loudly to Regulus and Evan.
“Hush,” Regulus said, warning flashing in his eyes. Barty fell silent, and they all watched the scene unfold before them.
“Mr Lupin. I have heard many things about you. Most of them are not pleasant. I believe, though, it was your intervention that saved our dear Regulus from that beast Moody.” Voldemort paused to allow Remus to respond. Remus didn’t lift his head from the bowed position he’s been left in. He nodded. Voldemort placed a cold hand on the top of Remus’s head. Regulus didn’t know how Remus managed not to shudder at the contact, but he did. “Regulus also told us you wished to join your brothers and sisters and help our cause.” Another nod. Voldemort turned to one of the werewolves standing near him. “What of his companion? I believe he was always seen with the disgraced Black brother.”
“We left him in an alley. My brothers may have had a little fun with him first. There’s been no sighting of him since. The informant hasn’t confirmed his current status, but they are working on it.”
Informant? That was new.
“Shut up!” Voldemort screamed. “CRUCIO!” The man fell to the ground, writhing in pain and screaming at the top of his lungs. The other wolves shuffled nervously while they watched their brother be tortured.
Voldemort grew bored and released the curse. “Take him and leave.” He spat at the rest of them. One came forward and took hold of Remus’s arm, ready to drag him away with them. “No, no. Leave this one. I wish to speak with him alone. Tell Fenrir I will send word when he can collect him.” The wolves bowed and hurried away.
Voldemort turned to Regulus and beckoned him forward. He went, leaving Evan and Barty behind.
“Yes, my Lord,” He said as he bowed low.
“Watch Mr Lupin here for me, will you? I have some urgent matters I must attend to.”
“Of course, my Lord.” He bowed again before wandering back to the others, Remus following behind.
Barty clapped a hand on Remus’s back.
“Knew you’d see sense and join our team,” Barty said loud enough for the whole room to hear.
It was clever if they showed they trusted him, less would question his loyalty.
“Well, the other side wasn’t exactly offering me much being a werewolf, were they?” Remus spat on the floor in disgust. He knew how to play this game. Barty howled with laughter and wrapped an arm around his shoulder, walking him towards the kitchen to help themselves to the refreshments.
Regulus followed them, his mind whirling at the prospect of the information the wolf had let slip. An informant within the Order was bad news.
When they entered the kitchen, he and Remus made eye contact, and he knew that Remus hadn’t known that either.
They needed to be careful how they tread from now on until they found the leak.
Remus stuck close to Regulus for the rest of the evening. Until Voldemort took him into a room by himself, he came out sweating and shaking but still in one piece. He bowed to Voldemort and then came to stand with their small group again. He didn’t say anything, just accepted the wine glass Evan handed him and sipped it slowly.
“Chin up, Lupin, you’re one of us now,” Evan winked at him.
Three wolves showed up to escort Remus back to the pack. Evan, Barty and Regulus all shook his hand. Regulus slipped a folded scrap of parchment into Remus’s hand as he shook it.
Regulus needed to get away and call James. He was waiting, and so was Sirius. He needed to tell Sirius that Remus was all right. He left, only saying goodbye to Evan and Barty before apparating home.
He sat in the kitchen with the mirror, sat on the table, and spoke to Sirius.
“Sirius, I saw Remus.”
James took the mirror back from Sirius’s hands after they’d finished so he could say goodbye himself.
“James, there’s something else.” He said urgently. James waited for him to continue. “One of the wolves that brought Remus in let it slip that there is an informant in the Order. They’ve been passing information to the death eaters. They’re trying to find out if Sirius is alive or not.” James had gone pale.
“Shit,” He said. “Are you sure?”
“Voldemort told him to shut up, and then Crucio’d him in front of everyone.” He watched the worry etch itself into James’s face.
“I’ve asked for a meeting with Dumbledore about the other things we discussed. I’ll alert him to this as well. I’ve got to go now, Reg. I’ll call you after I’ve spoken to Dumbledore. Keep you’re head down. I love you.” James smiled at him sadly as the sounds of Sirius’s snuffling filled the silence between them.
“I love you too,” Regulus whispered as he ended the connection.
He relaxed into his chair, taking a moment. He thought about the informant, wondering who it could possibly be. A flash of red blinked in his memory, and his blood ran cold. Surely not. She was a muggle-born, after all.

Regulus animagus form is a black cat, which allows him to attend order meetings without giving away his double spy status. However, he hates not seeing people's faces when they talk so he starts sitting on James' lap as a cat so he can see what's going on above the table (watching his brother and Lupin 'secretly' hold hands got boring pretty quickly)
Meanwhile, James cannot recall a single thing that was discussed in the last 3 order meetings cause his internal monologue the entire time was just; Regulus Is Sitting On My Lap, Oh Merlin, What Do I Do? Act Cool Potter. He is sitting on my lap, am I comfortable? He Is Sitting On My Lap. He trusts me! Dear Merlin, I cannot fuck this up- He Is actually sitting on my lap-"

*Borrowing quote from Atonement*
Spy Regulus Black to James Potter: Dearest Jamie, the story can resume. The one I had been planning on that evening star gazing. I can become again the man who once crossed the hogwarts grounds at dusk, in my best robes, tentatively hopeful on the promise of life. The man who, with the clarity of passion, made love to you in the Room of Requirement. The story can resume. I will return. Find you, love you, marry you and live without shame.

The Dark Calls to You
Severus POV, year two (Regulus is year one, Bellatrix is year seven) Rating: Teen 255 words TW: unwanted touch
“There you are, Reggie,” she cooed.
“Don’t call me that,” Regulus’ icy tone was back, his face surprisingly void of emotion.
“Oh but you will always be my baby cousin,” replied Bellatrix, pinching Regulus’ cheeks. He jerked away from her, and she looked to Severus. “And what were two children such as yourselves doing at this hour?”
“It’s hardly nine, and we were just talking,” said Regulus smoothly. Severus decided he would try and let Regulus carry this conversation, as he didn’t want to say anything which might get either of them in trouble. “Severus had some questions about the Mabon celebration. He’s never observed a cyclical festival before.”
“Indeed,” Bellatrix peered at him. “I figured as much. Did you enjoy the experience Severus?” She said his name slowly, drawing out the s’s.
“It was interesting.” Severus didn’t want to outright lie.
Bellatrix moved close to him and cupped his chin, tilting his head back.
“The Dark agreed with you Severus,” she purred. “Did you feel it? Did you feel its caress?” She let go of his chin and ran a finger down the side of his face. He willed himself to stand still. “The Dark welcomes you Severus, it will call to you. Listen.” As she said this she trailed her finger down his neck and then down his chest.
Severus held his breath. As someone who did not appreciate unsolicited contact, he was writhing internally, but he wanted to hold a cool veneer. He didn’t want her to know she was getting to him.
...
Still needs edits, but this is from the next installment The Prince's Pact which will begin posting on December 21.
More info in my pinned post.
And in an amusing note, I'm having to completely adjust my tags for this installment. Which will mean I'm likely reaching a whole new audience (scary and intimidating) but also exciting.

I Spy (1/1) (the black brothers)
"Regulus get your hands off me," Sirius sneered as he tried to flail his way out of Regulus grasp to no avail.
"Just hush up for five bloody seconds will you?" Regulus snapped back.
Regulus opened the door to the closet and flung Sirius in before stepping inside himself and closing them both in.
"What is the matter with you," Sirius whispered angrily. He didn't know why he was whispering but something about a brotherly code of secrecy subconsciously took hold.
Regulus shushed him again, and then snapped his fingers to light a small floating flame, a trick he uses now to show off but one they learned to be able to have some light in the darkness of their childhood.
Regulus signed at Sirius to turn his hearing aids off. Sirius appraised his brother curiously, but did as he was told.
Regulus felt bad, it was hard to see in the dark, but Regulus knew signing was their best way to not be found.
His movements were fast and a rigid as he commanded Sirius: "Listen to me, you're going to go back out there an act like nothing happened except an argument. You aren't going to cry or get upset and you aren't going to seem even the tiniest bit phased."
Sirius couldn't say anything, didn't know what to say, so he kept staring intently at his younger brother. Regulus got even closer to Sirius, signing smaller and doing his best to convey the danger of this information.
"There's a spy-" Regulus began.
"Yes, you," Sirius signed back, though he didn't know he was interrupting. Regulus held a hand up and shook his head. Sirius stopped immediately.
"There's a spy... in the order. It's," Regulus paused. He was listening for footsteps or creaks in the floorboards, anything that might hint at someone listening. He didn't care if he had put on a silencing charm, he didn't care that the closet was impossibly locked from inside, he never really did trust anything--not even magic--completely.
Sirius' eyes were wide, mouth gapping. His mind simultaneously going a mile a minute and not being able to process anything at all. He wanted to prompt Regulus for the rest but he didn't dare move.
Regulus signed "it's the rat," hoping Sirius would know what he meant. And of course he did. He finger-spelled "p-e-t-e-r" back to Regulus who confirmed.
"You can't tell anyone, not even James," Regulus added afterwards.
They both let that hang between them. Together they just breathed into the silence. Minutes went by but it really could have been hours.
Sirius took a deep breath and steadied himself by exhaling slowly. "What are you going to do?" He signed to Regulus.
"It doesn't matter, but you- just you don't do anything alright. But don't trust him." Regulus replied hoping for dear life that Sirius would follow his instructions for once.
Sirius nodded, snuffed out the little flame, and hugged his brother hidden in the dark like they used to when they were small. Sirius turned his hearing aids back on, and whispered "take care brother," into the dark.
"Until next," Regulus replied. And Sirius stepped out of the closet, and after a beat Regulus stormed out of the house not looking back.

chapter three: the chapter you've all been waiting for
“Patience,” Regulus smiles serenely, flexing his lovely hands.
You see, James Potter is many things. If you were to read his own Order of the Phoenix casefile, it would list countless skills and abilities. Patience? Not quite. They’ve been playing this game for five and a half months, and definitely longer before that. If James had any patience, it was spent during that torturous wait.
James traces his way back to Regulus situated at the edge of the desk in an instant, hands finding his waist again.
“Patience,” Regulus tuts again.
“No,” James all but growls at Regulus’ ear. Regulus rolls his neck until their cheeks are brushing side by side. And then, well, then, James drops to his knees.
