We had our trees trimmed in November. It was really necessary and they did a great job (no topping, everything followed the state's fire compliance rules), but they used leaf blowers at the end to clean up, and one of the big branches crashed down and took out one of my elderberry bushes. 😭

Well, we had 3 straight days of rain last week.

And my Creeping Snowberries are coming back! From bare sticks to being covered in tiny leaves again. (First pic)

And the Elderberry is even trying to come back! 🥰 I thought the roots didn't have enough time to establish, but apparently something made it through because look at that tiny little cutie! (Second pic) It'll probably be a few years behind its "siblings," but since these are supposed to get pretty big I doubt it matters in the long run.

This image was captured on Squaw Valley Creek in Siskiyou County, California, USA. I captured the image on a somewhat overcast afternoon and really liked the soft ethereal light as the sun was filtered through the clouds. This part of the creek, just below the confluence of a small stream known as Cabin Creek, is especially beautiful. The famed Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) crosses just a short distance downstream from where this was captured. The small town of McCloud is just a few miles away and the whole area sits at the base of the majestic Mount Shasta, the fifth highest peak in the state of California.

The Smoke Creek Desert, which stretches from US 395 in Lassen County, California well in to northwestern Nevada can be a barren wasteland at times. But it can also be a very beautiful place when there’s still a bit of greenery in the spring, especially when there are some beautiful clouds overhead, and maybe a rainbow in late day golden hour light.

man i miss haru. that boy worked retail AND suppressed a huge part of his identity that both tied to and alienated him from his inner family and community but refused to let it die AND went sent to jail for it AND he’s gay. truly an incredible character i desperately hope he appears in the live action
