The TOI was informed by an ASI official, who deals with the housing wing, that booking for the break of the men’s recurve archers was not received from the SAI until today. But, when TOI connected a Transitory Committee member, he gave initiates that room will be if to the competing archers after the opening day of the pilot.

Munmuni Das: The 14-year-old hockey player who fought poverty to live her dreams
New Post has been published on https://apzweb.com/munmuni-das-the-14-year-old-hockey-player-who-fought-poverty-to-live-her-dreams/
Munmuni Das: The 14-year-old hockey player who fought poverty to live her dreams
Munmuni Das comes from a small town of Tinsukia district in Assam and belonged to the poorest strata of society. Her father was a street hawker and sold fish and could barely make ends meet, leave aside fulfilling her daughter’s dream to play hockey.
But she had found her calling. She knew that it was through the game of hockey that she would be able to live her dreams and so Munmuni rose above poverty to continue living her passion.
She developed interest in hockey at the age of 10 after seeing some boys play the sport in her school. But Munmuni neither had a hockey stick nor a kit to wear to the practice.
“There weren’t any girls so I used to practice with boys. I didn’t even have the kit when I started playing. Not even the stick. So during practice, I used to borrow the hockey stick from other boys for 2-5 minutes in their break time.”
“I did not have a kit to play. So a bhaiya near my house gave me his old kit which was wearable, not that bad in condition, so I practiced wearing it.”
Munmuni said her father always supported her as much as he could though there were times when she had to drop out of tournaments due to financial struggles.
Munmuni bought her first hockey stick one and half years after stepping into the game and kept rising through ranks to land at the Naval Tata Hockey Academy, Odisha, where some of the most talented budding hockey players are groomed into professionals.
“I participated in the State Championship from my district and got selected for the trials of Sports Authority of India (SAI). But I had to miss that opportunity because there were financial issues at home.”
“But my coach sir told me that my game was good and called me again. This time my father managed somehow to send me to the trials.”
In 2019, she was inducted in the NTHA and was recommended by Hockey India itself that speaks volumes of her talent. The same year, Munmuni participated in Nehru Cup in New Delhi for NTHA Odisha and was awarded the player of the match in one of the matches during the tournament.
The 14-year-old also participated in the 2020 Khelo India Games in Guwahati and captained Assam and led her team to 4th position.
Munmuni said the Naval Tata Hockey Academy gave an opportunity to her and other girls from backward communities, to carve a place for themselves.
“My parents want me to play for India now. Rani Rampal (India skipper) is my idol among women hockey players. My dream is also to play for India now and represent India at the Olympics.”

Hong Kong Int. Airport Handled 5.7 Million Passengers in January 2020
Hong Kong International Airport handled 5.7
million passengers and 33,210 flight movements in January 2020,
decreases of 11.7% and 9.1% year-on-year, respectively.
Cargo
throughput dropped 10.4% to 359,000 tonnes when compared to
January 2019.
Overall passenger traffic to/from Mainland China,
South Korea and Southeast Asia recorded the most significant
decreases in January.
Visitor traffic remained weak, showing a
year-on-year decrease of 43%. However, travel by Hong Kong
residents saw a surge during the Chinese New Year holidays,
amounting to a monthly growth of 25% year-on-year.
Cargo throughput declined due to the closure of
factories and businesses in Mainland China during the Chinese New
Year holidays. The decrease in cargo was mainly attributed to the
15% and 10% drops in imports and transshipments, respectively.
Exports decreased by 9% compared to the same month last year.
Amongst key trading regions, traffic to/from Southeast Asia and
North America decreased most significantly in the month.
Vivian Cheung, Executive Director, Airport
Operations of Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA), said, “HKIA’s
traffic has been affected by multiple factors, including the
outbreak of Novel Coronavirus in late January and social
circumstances. We expect to see continued decline in traffic
numbers in February as airlines have suspended flights and
governments in different markets have implemented immigration
restrictions and quarantine measures. The AA has stepped up
cleaning and disinfection work in the terminal and passenger
facilities, and continues to work closely with the Port Health
Division of the Department of Health and our business partners
regarding disease prevention work at the airport.”
On a 12-month rolling basis, passenger volume and
flight movements fell by 5.7% and 2.8% to 70.8 million and
416,445, respectively, while cargo throughput recorded 4.8 million
tonnes, decreasing 6.6% year on year.

Mövenpick Resort Opens in Cam Ranh, Vietnam
Accor has expanded its already considerable
portfolio of hotels in Vietnam, with the opening of the Mövenpick
Resort Cam Ranh located along Bai Dai Beach in the central
Vietnamese province of Khanh Hoa.
Located 6 km from Cam Ranh Airport and 53 km from
Nha Trang, the Mövenpick Resort Cam Ranh features 500 rooms,
individual pool villas and apartments that overlook a 17 km white
sand coast.
“With 31 hotels, Accor remains the largest
international hotel operator in the country, and we are delighted
to introduce this up and coming destination to travellers from
around the world,” said Patrick Basset, Chief Operating Officer of
Accor, Upper Southeast & Northeast Asia and Maldives.
Inspired by modern European style, the resort
features 250 rooms designed by Hirsch Bedner Associates. All rooms
offer direct sea views over the beach from private balconies.
The 118 one- to three-bedroom pool villas
feature a collection of exquisite Champa antiques and exotic art
pieces, while the 132 sea view studio apartments offer a fully
furnished kitchenette and a large living and dining area.
The resort features restaurants, two bars, a
comprehensive choice of event spaces, a Serenity Spa which
features 23 treatment rooms and a dedicated foot reflexology
centre with an attached wellness bistro serving spa cuisine
crafted with organic and local ingredients, indoor and outdoor
fitness centre with tennis and multi-purpose sports field, games
room, a minimart, kids club and retail shops.
For families seeking fun outside, Cam Ranh
Adventure Rope Park features a 45-obstacle course rope climbing
challenge – up to 10.6 metres in the air. There is also a kids’
pool complete with waterslide to cool off after a day of
activities.
The area surrounding Mövenpick Resort Cam Ranh is
home to various golf courses, including a new 27-hole golf course
designed by Greg Norman, located a short 10-minute drive away.
Also within close reach is Nui Chua National Park, The Vinh Hy -
Binh Tien Pass, and a number of famous historic sites.
Binh Ba Island is a 40-minute boat ride from
the port of Da Bac (Ba Ngoi) - a popular destination for
snorkelling and diving. In line with Mövenpick’s philosophy of
offering authentic experiences, the resort can also arrange for
guests to visit a traditional fishing village located on the banks
of a peaceful river.
“At Mövenpick Resort Cam Ranh, family moments are
integrated into the vacation experience. With extensive family
facilities including an adventure rope park, water slides,
multi-level swimming pool and children’s pool, two separate kid
club areas, recreation facilities including a tennis court and
multi purposed sports field, and beautiful private beach,
Mövenpick Resort Cam Ranh is the perfect choice for families,”
said
Brice Borin, General Manager of Mövenpick Resort Cam Ranh.

Did Strength of Thai Baht Affect Number of Arrivals from UK in 2019? Interview with TAT
On 24 August 2015 the GBP/THB was at 56. Almost
exactly one year later the Baht was at 45.53, and on 3 September
2019 travellers to the Kingdom of Thailand could get just 36.96
Thai Baht for 1 GBP.
Despite the strength of the Thai Baht many would
argue that Thailand still represents excellent value for money as a
destination, and with approximately 39.77 million people visiting
the country in 2019, the numbers seem to suggest that many agree.
So how has the strong Baht, Brexit and other
UK-related issues
impacted Thailand's tourism industry?
That's just one of the questions that Steven
Howard of TravelNewsAsia.com puts to Chiravadee
Khunsub, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand - UK,
Ireland and South Africa, in this exclusive interview.
Filmed at TAT's office in London on 8 January
2020, Khun Chiravadee tell us how the UK market was affected by
the strength of the Thai Baht in 2019 and what she expects for
2020.
We discuss visitor arrival numbers and tourism
revenue from the UK in
2019, what targets TAT has for 2020, and what trends Khun
Chiravadee is seeing.
With so many airlines now flying directly to
secondary destinations within Thailand, and from secondary
destinations in the UK, we also talk about how
that is changing the tourism sector and which airports in the UK
Khun Chiravadee would like to see have more direct flights to
Thailand.
We talk about emerging destinations within
Thailand, especially Isaan, and what lessons can be learned from Buri Ram's success
with sport tourism.
We also talk about the demographics of visitor
arrivals, tourism revenue and whether Airbnb distorts those
numbers, how TAT plans to market Thailand to the UK market this
year and which market segments they are going after the most. All
that and much, much more in the FHD video and podcast below.

Olympic Archery: India Archers at trial for Olympic 2020 finalists
India’s leading recurve archers have allegedly been told to foot their room bills at a variety new for the Olympic 2020 qualifiers.
Olympic lovers from all over the world are called to book Olympic 2020 tickets from our online platforms for Olympic Tickets. Olympic Archery lovers can book Olympic Archery Tickets from our ticketing marketplace exclusively on reduced prices.
As specified by The Times of India (TOI), the experimental, happing to happen at the Army Sports Institute (ASI) in Pune from tomorrow through to Monday (January 6), is being prearranged by the five-member Fleeting Committee selected by the Delhi High Court next World Archery’s decision to hang the Archery Association of India (AAI) in August.
The group has members from the Sports Ministry, Sports Authority of India (SAI), Indian Olympic Association and the two delayed groups of the AAI. Amongst the archer's attendance the trial, which is for both men and women, are Olympians Deepika Kamari, Bombayla Devi Laishram and Atafu Das.
The TOI reports that the archers are also upset the Transitory Committee has empty the journey of Selection Committee members at the Government’s price. Some of the archers, who have spoken their deterrence at the state, told TOI they have been finding it hard to book a room because most of the good hotels are located far away from the ASI.
The TOI was informed by an ASI official, who deals with the housing wing, that booking for the break of the men’s recurve archers was not received from the SAI until today. But, when TOI linked a Transitory Committee member, he gave initiates that room will be if to the opposing archers after the opening day of the pilot.
At that point, the number of contributors will have reduced following removal and there will be fewer archers to house in ASI, which, parenthetically, does not have any housing facility for womanly athletes. The Transitory Committee member later added that preparations have been made for lodging, but the TOI reports archers are yet to be informed about it.
The AAI had been given a deadline of the end of July 2019 to correct its issues, flashed by a assemblage within the organization which reasons the body to hold two distinct elections in direct disobedience of World Archery's rules.
Olympic 2020 lovers can get Olympic Tickets through our reliable online ticketing market place. OlympicTickets2020.com is the trustiest way to book Olympic Packages.

nCoV - Arbitrary Restrictions and Blanket Travel Bans Cause Confusion
With so much confusion, misinformation and
different strategies surrounding the current 2019-nCoV outbreak,
it is a very worrying time for the global travel and tourism
industry and the millions of people around the world who rely on
it for their livelihoods.
Commenting on the current developments regarding
the 2019-nCoV outbreak, Mr.
Andrew Herdman, Director General of the Association of Asia
Pacific Airlines (AAPA) said, “The safety and well-being of the
travelling public are always uppermost in our minds. Asia Pacific
carriers are well-prepared to handle health crises including those
involving communicable diseases, and are taking every possible
measure to minimise the risk of the novel coronavirus being spread
more widely across frontiers. The air transport industry is
strictly following established guidelines developed by the
International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), in consultation
with the World Health Organisation (WHO), the International Air
Transport Association (IATA) and Airports Council International
(ACI), covering the management of public health events.”
On the important role played by the WHO in
responding to the current situation, Mr. Herdman said, “We very
much appreciate the leadership being shown by the WHO in
coordinating the global response to the current outbreak. It is
worth noting that the WHO has to date not recommended any
restriction of international travel or trade based on the current
information. It would, however, be prudent for people who are ill
to delay international travel and for people developing symptoms
following international travel to seek medical attention.”
Noting that a number of governments have
nevertheless introduced various measures including travel
advisories, border entry restrictions and quarantine requirements,
Mr. Herdman said, “Regrettably, some of these measures, whilst
well-intentioned, seem to lack any proper public health
justification, whilst causing significant and widespread
disruption to travel and trade activities across the world.
Arbitrary restrictions and blanket travel bans are inconsistent
with international health regulations, and result in
unnecessary inconvenience and added uncertainty amongst members of
the public. Governments in Asia and elsewhere must strengthen
dialogue and work together with WHO, ICAO, and other stakeholders
to develop a more comprehensive strategy and globally co-ordinated
set of policy measures in response to the current outbreak.”
Regarding the effect on travel and tourism, Mr.
Herdman said, “Understandably, growing public concern about the
outbreak has already had a very significant impact on demand for
air travel across the region, forcing airlines to cut back or
suspend services on affected routes. The risk of crews being
subjected to arbitrary quarantine measures has resulted in further
operational disruption, regardless of any proper risk assessment.
Airlines are generally waiving cancellation fees or providing
refunds to affected passengers on these routes. Rather than impose
arbitrary travel bans, we believe that passengers can be trusted
to make informed decisions, provided that there is open and
transparent communication of accurate information.”
“At this critical juncture, improved co-operation
and co-ordination by international organisations, national
governments, health authorities and everybody involved in
combating this global health emergency are of overriding
importance. Asia Pacific airlines are fully committed to
working closely with the relevant governments and national health
authorities to support such efforts in the wider public interest.”
“AAPA is closely tracking this rapidly evolving
situation, and will continue to work closely with other industry
stakeholders in addressing further developments.”
